Soooo I was sucked into Poppy Playtime again because of these goobers!! I don’t think I’ve ever posted Poppy Playtime stuff on here before, buttt I think I will now, I just wish the fandom was a bit bigger and more lively lmao 🤣

Catnap is my #1 favorite, then DogDay, then KC, and then Hoppy! I love the others too, but Bubba and Crafty are so hard to draw atm. I just need to practice more with them!😓

Some headcannons in the show universe cause I’m feeling fun:

- Catnap is the youngest! DogDay is the oldest of the crew! Their age order goes (oldest to youngest) DogDay, Bubba, Picky, Kickin, Crafty, Bobby, Hoppy, Catnap!

- Catnap doesn’t talk much, but he can. Just with a low voice that tends to be calming, and very sweet sounding. He usually just points, says short answers like yes or no, and nods.

- While Kickin (or KC) is the most egocentric and confident, Hoppy is the most energetic and tends to like talking people’s heads off, which causes them to butt heads at times, all while Picky tends to be the usual third wheel, often just quietly eating.

- Crafty is the most creative while Bubba is the most thoughtful and intelligent, which usually allows them to have deep, meaningful conversations of the wonders of life together.

-Crafty is the shyest out of the bunch, usually drawing with Catnap calmly, sharing her creations with him or hanging out with Bubba.

- Bobby and Picky tend to share their love for the world together, usually playing dress up with each other, talking about crushes. or cooking of course! Bobby always has something lovely to share and Picky, in contrast to her name, always is open to trying something new, as long as she thinks she may like it.

- In contrast to the canon, all of the crew just magically woke up in the Playcare, with no memories of before they opened their eyes to the colorful world around them. DogDay and Bubba were the first to appear, Picky, Crafty and Kickin spawning after, Bobby and Hoppy spawning together and Catnap spawning alone. There seems to be no way out, so the crew just embraces their situation and tries their best to not think about it too much.

- Catnap was the last and most unexpected to spawn in. From the time he opened his eyes to the new world around him, he had felt like something was off, like he didn’t belong there. While most of the others treated him nice, some of the crew were uneasy about his sudden appearance, seemingly years after the last of the previous arrivals had spawned in.

- Catnap begins to grow close to DogDay, almost becoming like his little brother. They spend the most time together, due to DDs kindness and warm welcoming energy towards him on his arrival! Also them both noticing they wore opposite necklaces, Cat being the moon and DD being the sun helped with that connection too!

- Kickin doesn’t really like or trust Catnap much, and doesn’t try to hide it, making snarky remarks and comments to clearly express his dislike for him.

- Catnap is super playful with the others, his best friends being Dog Day, Hoppy and Crafty! He tends to move like a ghost, the crew not usually noticing they are in his presence until they turn around! A lot of times, he hangs by his tail on the trees to say hello, or can be found in the fields laying in the grass and sleeping.

- Cat can sleep anywhere that is a surface, and is not wet.

- Every once and while, Cat swears he can see a skinny, metallic hand in the shadows, beckoning his attention. He’s tried to bring it up to the others, but they either think he’s acting weird, insane, or tell him not to worry about it.

We’ve been chatting for about half an hour when Eloise lowers her voice to a whisper. Until now she’s been confidently talking through the ups and downs of being a 19-year-old woman in a world she finds unsteady. 

She’s annoyed that, on TikTok, the advertisements she gets are keyrings with rape alarms and “stabby kitties” (a cat-shaped metal keychain with pointed ears sharp enough to cause damage), feels that modern feminism sometimes goes a bit too far, but having grown up in the age of nudes, she doesn’t really trust men. Which is unsurprising considering the story she tells me next.

“So a boy I know was asking a girl at his school for nudes,” she says, quietly. “And then when she refused, he threatened to rape her.” The boy was 14 and had recently posted an Andrew Tate video to his Instagram page, which was Eloise’s first encounter with the online influencer. 

“It said stuff like how women are your property and that it doesn’t matter if women say they’ve been sexually assaulted; if you’re with them that’s your right. I didn’t like it,” she adds.

Tate has made several appearances in the headlines this week. On Tuesday, a Romanian court rejected his appeal to ease the ban on him leaving the country as a legal case against him – in which he’s charged with human trafficking, rape and forming a criminal gang to sexually exploit women – continues. He denies all charges against him. The following day, Ipsos polling for King’s College London’s Policy Institute and the Global Institute for Women’s Leadership found that one in five men aged 16-29 who have heard of Andrew Tate have a positive view of him.

Separately – or, arguably, perhaps not – another survey published in the same week underpinned a renewed focus on the attitudes and beliefs of Generation Z, this time from the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS). The research asked just over 3,000 adults of varying ages – 50.6 per cent of whom were female – about their understanding of rape and serious sexual offences, and the law on consent, and drew troubling conclusions.

Overall, 74 per cent of people surveyed understood that it can still be rape if a victim doesn’t resist or fight back, but the number fell to just over half (53 per cent) of 18-24-year-olds who had the same understanding. Less than half of respondents from this age group recognised that victims might not report a sexual offence to police immediately, that being in a relationship or marriage doesn’t mean consent can be assumed, or that if a man has been drinking or taking drugs, he’s still responsible if he rapes someone. More than 70 per cent of over-65s recognised that even if no physical force is involved a person might not be free or able to consent to sex, compared to just 40 per cent of young people.

Previous generations have become used to hearing that rape myths and misconceptions continue to persist, but that’s precisely why this week’s grim trinity of headlines stings. “There tends to be a public assumption that things are generally always getting better,” says author and feminist campaigner Laura Bates. “Actually, views like these are incredibly widespread among young people.” 

Bates regularly works with schools, talking to pupils who often tell her that “rape is a compliment”, that “it’s not rape if she likes it” or, “it’s your boyfriend, you have to have sex with him”.

She adds: “Attitude surveys have to be taken seriously because they are a real red flag that we’re going backwards – we’re seeing much more extreme and concerning misogynistic attitudes among the youngest generations than we are among the oldest. We have to face up to that and ask, why is that happening?”

Gen Z has never been neatly contained. Growing up as the first digital natives in the chokehold of crisis – climate, Covid, cost of living – has seen them praised for their social awareness, but disenfranchised and forgotten by politics. Their extremely online nature has given them unprecedented access to the world and other people – but, of course, that’s a double-edged sword.

“The internet has made everyone’s voices louder, but that means the most misogynistic people in the world are heard more too,” says Niya Clement-Hickson, a 26-year-old marketing designer from London. He says his generation has been “kind of ruined” by social media.

“You’d be surprised at just how many people around my age will argue that Andrew Tate is not as bad as he seems.”

When I spend an hour talking to 16-year-old Tate fan Manus from Ohio on TikTok, he says exactly that. He’s relatively timid and seems unsure of what he thinks at times, but came across Tate aged 12, being drawn to his motivational speeches, humour, and attitude towards making money. “[Tate] kinda showed me how people really are in reality,” he says. On Tate’s assertions that women are the property of men, he says those beliefs are simply from the Bible (though Manus himself is Muslim).

He maintains he’s never seen Tate speak violently about women, and when I send him leaked voicenote recordings of Tate saying that he enjoyed raping a woman, Manus is certain it’s fake “probably to make him look bad”. I ask for his views on feminism and he responds that feminists now want “superiority” and “more rights”. What rights exactly? “More rights in general,” he says, vaguely.

This opinion is not a rarity – there’s a pervasive idea circling comments sections and pub corners that the pendulum has “swung too far”. “Some of us warned that when you continue to suppress their identity by telling young boys that they are inherently toxic, they’ll start acting irrational,” one comment under an Andrew Tate post this week read. But it’s not just boys who hold this idea. Early last year, a survey from Ipsos UK and the Global Institute for Women’s Leadership at King’s College London echoed this and some of Eloise’s views that feminism has gone too far. They found that 52 per cent of Gen Z and 53 per cent of millennials believe that we’re now discriminating against men. Less than half of Gen Z respondents said they defined themselves as a feminist.

Was it coincidence then, to see that shortly after the research was published in March 2023, the year of the girl was in full swing? A persistently pink summer was punctuated with girl dinners, #tradwives – modern women who believe in traditional gender roles – and stay-at-home girlfriends sharing their daily rituals on news feeds. New York magazine’s The Cut declared it “Woman in Retrograde” as the year came to a close; a cluster of reactionary elements to a significant demise of mainstream feminism.

This shift back to traditional behaviours is also present in younger men, says Niya. “A lot of guys feel that their role is all about providing money, being a protector. But they feel they deserve to get something out of the interaction. They just can’t deal with being told no.”

In terms of consent, does he hear attitudes that put women in danger? “Absolutely,” he replies. Niya didn’t learn about consent in school – “I don’t think it was ever talked about beyond ‘don’t have sex until you’re old enough’” – and thinks this is quite common for men of his age. For Maya, who’s 24 and neurodivergent, the line of consent is difficult to pinpoint and somewhat shaped by social media. There’s a “disconnect” from what she really wants – and is able to articulate – in the moment.

“I think that we do have less and less sex and more and more porn,” Niya adds. “And I think that once porn is your main and in some cases, only engagement with sex and women, then that is going to completely screw up how you see sex.”

Do all roads lead to porn? Probably. Clare McGlynn, who is a professor of law with particular expertise in sexual violence and online abuse, says: “We know that algorithms promote more extreme content, more hate – and many, many younger people, men and women, are getting this. Millions of people, as we speak, are watching mainstream online pornography that is racist, sexist, misogynist and violent in its content. Of course, it’s shaping attitudes and lives.”

“There’s certainly a pressure on young boys and men, for example, to be taking and sharing nudes – they’re part of a culture that is encouraging them to,” McGlynn explains. During a study, she looked at what material was presented on the homepage of popular sites – she found landing pages which were filled with sexually violent material. “So it’s also not them even actively choosing that material; we’re part of a culture that is grooming young men, teaching them expectations around sex – and asking them to accept and normalise it.”

What appears clear from the survey conducted by the CPS is a dangerous lack of understanding of what constitutes a crime. “I do lectures on criminal law and I’ve had students come up to me afterwards and say that they didn’t know they had been sexually assaulted or raped,” McGlynn adds.

Laura Bates says that we’re in the midst of a “crisis of sexual violence among young people”. 

“Deeply misogynistic misinformation is being spread to young people online at a rate that most people just have absolutely no idea about,” she says. “And there is a massive knock-on effect.

“Some will look at these surveys and go, well, what does attitude matter? But you have to draw a connection between these really worrying attitudes about rape and the fact that nearly 80 per cent of young people told Ofsted inspectors recently that sexual assault is normal and common in their friendship groups.”

So what can be done? More responsibility and accountability from social media companies, says Bates. Tate’s content – some of which reportedly shows him attempting to beat a woman with a belt; she later hides behind a locked door – has been viewed more than 11 billion times on TikTok, she says, adding: “That’s more than the population of the planet.” Last year, advocacy group HOPE found that more 16-17-year-old boys had watched Tate’s content than had heard of Rishi Sunak. “I think it’s really important that the government supports high quality, age-appropriate sex and relationships education,” she adds. 

Actively listening to and engaging with boys – as seen in initiatives like the state of New York’s Starting the Conversation campaign – is also important. Boys must have a safe and judgement-free environment to express themselves: the more their experiences of rape culture are internalised, the more difficult they are to see.

The Online Safety Bill, which was enacted in October last year, she says, was a missed opportunity for change. While it asks for more transparency on social media platforms and imposes sanctions for those not following the act, along with criminalising cyberflashing and sending unsolicited nude images, “it went 250 pages without mentioning women and girls once, until campaigners changed that”, Bates says.

“It’s so much more effective to focus on prevention of radicalisation than trying to unpick it once it’s happened,” she says. “Young people really are prepared to listen and prepared to change their minds, it’s just a shame this isn’t happening in every school.”

“It does make me worried about how safe the world is going to be,” says Eloise, who will begin her twenties in the summer. “What if people really start thinking that women are property again?” Then, she’s quiet again. “I really hope it can change.”

Could you give me the basic gist of the NTT Team Dynamics, like the different relationships within the team?

Sorry if i'm bombarding you with these asks.

Oh, not at all! I realise I mainly covered individual characters in my previous post, mainly to cut down on time, so I’m happy to flesh things out a bit more! (I’m happy any time someone asks about my work, really 😊)

Okay, so I briefly mentioned Tim and Steph’s relationship, and there’s a lengthier post I did a while back about them, so I’ll link that at the bottom of this post.

Then there’s Tim and Conner. This one’s fun, because sometimes they get along great—Tim has a rebellious side to him, and kind of a skater boy thing going on—but he was also raised by very conservative parents and has Batman for a mentor, and he’s smart enough to know that doing something stupid will lead to stupid consequences, so sometimes (a lot of times) he winds up becoming the Mom™️ of the group. And when that happens, he and Conner come into conflict. Thing is, Conner’s smart in his own ways too, so when he gets into trouble, he’s really good at getting out of trouble, and… he knows how to spin his ideas to convince Tim to go along with them. Basically, it’s like a constant game of “join the dark side, Anakin… we have cookies!” And Steph is usually the one holding the cookies. Then Tim comes to his senses, or Batman shows up, and suddenly he’s all “of course, I—a responsible leader of this team—would never even consider doing the immature thing—cough cough!” But they become good friends. They poke fun at one another a lot, throwing zingers, and they enjoy talking when they get the chance. They just find it easy to vibe with one another.

Conner and Cassie! Now, this is all based off of one comic panel, but I just latched onto this idea like a barnacle to the hull of a crusty ship. Cassie did initially have a crush on Conner when they first met, but that was short-lived because she quickly discovered how annoying Conner can be sometimes. He’s like that little brother who just shows up and—for no reason—starts poking you, flipping the light switch, making noises, and generally just being a pain. Cassie was raised alone with her mother, traveling a bunch, meeting kids from a lot of other cultures, so she knows how to get along with a lot of very different people… she’s still never met someone as annoying as Conner. Plus, her moral compass points toward: being kind to people, being respectful, trying NOT to be annoying. You can see how Conner might just be pushing her buttons in a very specific way when he starts acting a little too much like Lex, and gets carried away. They’re like a cat and a dog. Chasing each other. Screaming at each other. Tim has to intervene. Sigh. But when it counts, of course they’ll always be there for one another… just for no longer than 30 seconds…

Cassie and the other two girls. Now, Cass isn’t particularly older than them by much, but it’s mostly because of her knowledge and confidence mixed with her moral compass that she (generally) is kind of looked at like the leader of the three. But only so much. Again, they’re all about the same age, so it doesn’t feel like she’s the “mom” it’s more like they’re sisters, and she’s the oldest sister… so naturally, Steph intentionally doesn’t listen sometimes. She believes that she’s got enough street smarts of her own (plus Batman’s training) that she and Cassie are on equal footing, which can sometimes lead to arguments, because Cassie feels like her world traveling and being mentored by Wonder Woman gives her more experience than Steph, so… you could say there’s some tension there… Both of them have more experience on Earth than M’gann, so she tends to look up to both of them, and often turns to them for advice. Steph loves playing “mentor” but sometimes Cassie feels like she’s giving the wrong advice (her father being a supervillain doesn’t help Cassie’s opinion, but over the course of the show, we find out that a lot of the members have villainous parents, so it becomes a moot point eventually). Now, it’s not as though Cassie enjoys being in this position of contention. She can be plenty impulsive and adventurous and is a bit of a dork, but it’s funny the way hanging out with certain people can bring out a part of you that you didn’t even know you had. Steph is such a firecracker that it’s impossible for someone not to feel a little apprehensive about what she does and says, but after the girls get to know one another better, their relationship turns from sort of a competition, to more like “partners in crime” almost. Cassie remains the moooore level headed of the two, but yeah… they can get up to trouble if left unsupervised. But with M’gann, Cassie is very sympathetic. She’s traveled, she’s felt like an alien before, she’s been the only white girl in a room before, she gets how M’gann must be feeling. (In truth, she doesn’t quite fully grasp the specifics of her situation, but to be fair, M’gann didn’t tell everyone the specifics up front, so…) Anyway, M’gann appreciates how thoughtful Cassie can be, and often looks to her for advice, especially when it comes to…

Conner and M’gann! Alright, don’t go running for the hills just yet. I know that the Young Justice cartoon scared a lot of us, but trust me when I say that these two characters are not the same ones from that show. Yes, M’gann does see Conner as fitting into the “ideal human boyfriend” category that she’s seen in all those Earth TV shows, but that image usually comes crashing down the minute Conner opens his mouth. Now, they both kinda liked the look of each other the moment they met, but keep in mind, Conner has only actually been alive for about a year or so. Maybe a year and a half—two tops. So, he’s never been in love before. It was never taught to him. He’s just a big ball of raging hormones with no guidance! yaaaaaay… Don’t worry, nothing bad happens, but imagine a six-year-old’s approach to girls… girls he likes… that more or less sums up how Conner first approached things. Very blunt, very innocent, not knowing what’s considered “too forward” or “rude” so he makes a lot of critical errors at first, which he doesn’t realise are errors until he talks to the other guys. Overall, though, his confidence levels remain relatively high, so he plans on adjusting his approach and going in for round two. M’gann feels awkward about the whole situation, like “is this how Earth boys actually are in real life? Is this just a Kryptonian thing? Am I missing something?” She’s overanalysing the situation something awful, and she wonders if it feels wrong because of something she’s doing, or not doing, and she talks to the other girls about it… When Conner actually gets it through his head how to talk to girls, that’s when their relationship starts. He can be very rough and playful, like a big golden retriever, but he’s learned that he needs to be careful with someone like M’gann, who’s more of a sweet little bunny who gets really excited about things, like “Earth Cooking” and “Vending Machines.” The two of them don’t always understand Earth things, or customs, but they’re relieved that the other doesn’t, so they kind of come up with their own private jokes, and it’s really sweet. The great difference between the two is that: Conner is super confident a lot of the time, especially about who he is and where he’s going, but M’gann is exactly the opposite. Over time, he helps her uncover the things that matter most to her, and therefore helps her understand what sort of person she is and who she wants to become.

Conner and Kaldur. Naturally, Kaldur didn’t get close to anyone at first, but after that whole adventure… he and Conner have a very specific relationship. Ever see a cub or a kitten or a puppy trying to play with their mother’s ear or tail or something, but the mom’s just sitting there, looking tired? That’s kinda it. Kaldur finds Conner’s antics amusing, up until they become irresponsible, at which point he shifts into Mom Mode.™️ He and Tim kinda share the title of “Team Mom.” Or maybe one of them’s more like “Team Dad?” You decide. (If everyone starts acting irresponsibly, Kaldur is usually the last adult standing.) Point is, Kaldur is still a battle hardened warrior, and even though he’s learning how to be more expressive, he still thinks Conner can be a bit of a drama queen, and a little too… much… at times. They’re almost a little like Jack O’Niell and Teal’c from Stargate SG-1, if anyone’s seen. But they’re cool, Kaldur doesn’t ever get annoyed with Conner, he simply handles Conner.

In general, Kaldur still has a hard time getting really, really close with the others, mainly just having serious heart-to-hearts or observing their hobbies and interests, but if there was one person on the team I would say he’s close with, it’s Tim. Tim does his best to check in with him and be there for him, as the team’s leader, and they tend to have a lot of very long, very deep conversations. They often go back and forth about battle strategy, they share the title of “Team Mom” a lot, being the two most responsible members, they’re both smart, and they’re both depressed a lot.

(Lol, just had a thought. Kaldur and Steph = Tigress and Po from Kung Fu Panda 2. *Kaldur catches Steph and flips her back around as if she were made of paper* Steph: “Did you guys see that? It’s called being awesome.”)

Now, Steph is the most extroverted in the group. She’s the one who always breaks the ice, who has no problem jumping straight into the deep end, and is the most comfortable chillin’ with the guys. Cassie never really did the whole “hanging with the guys” thing growing up, it was mostly “all the neighbourhood kids or nothing,” so, like, sort of adjacent, but not quite the same thing. Then M’gann never really hung out with guys ever, so Steph is kinda alone on that one. She and Conner are a dangerous duo. They require at least two babysitters. Then, once Bart comes along (post memory wipe, that is) their duo of chaos becomes a trio. NEVER LEAVE THESE THREE ALONE EVER. Steph tries to get close to Kaldur, and tries to introduce him to certain fun things, but for a long while she just can’t understand why they aren’t clicking, and why he and Tim do it so easily. Then, she realises that what Kaldur values is genuine conversation and connection, which is harder for her, but they wind up sharing a few moments together that help them bond a bit more.

Now Bart. I saved him for last because it’s a little confusing having to talk about two different versions of him. Pre-memory wipe, Bart is afraid, anxious, and thinks like a little kid. Being trapped in a computer for a year tends to stunt you like that. So when he first arrives, after the NTT’s initial suspicion subsides, they kinda adopt him. He’s never had his own bedroom, or owned normal civilian clothes, or eaten anything besides rations, (bacon was an eye opener), so the team can’t help but feel bad for him, though Conner specifically tends to feel like he’s a little bit like dead weight at times during their journey through time, because he’s too afraid to actually do anything for much of it. Put simply, the main form of bonding that happens with them all on that adventure is: trauma bonding. But then, there’s post-memory wipe Bart. After the wipe, his personality changed. He still naturally feels disquieted and repelled by tech, but beyond that, he’s more cheerful, funny, always moving too fast for his own good, forgetful, but with a bit of an attitude when he feels like it. Especially when people give him “the look.” Something he noticed after the memory wipe. People who knew him before sometimes look at him like he’s a wounded puppy, and he hates it. This is what eventually leads him to want to regain his memories, but that’s a story for another time. Like mentioned earlier, he gets along a little too well with Conner and Stephanie—he can drive Tim up a wall with how much he doesn’t sit still, or listen, or just… do the thing he asked him to do twenty minutes ago! But Bart’s a good kid, Tim can’t stay frustrated with him forever. Kaldur has another child to reign in. Cassie takes on an almost “big sister” role for him, and M’gann loves testing out new Earth recipes on him, because he’ll eat anything.

Public Domain cartoon characters from the Golden Age of Animation (and beyond)

While Mickey entering the public domain is exciting and all, I do think a lot of people are overlooking the many other animated characters that are available to use in their creative works. This list isn't entirely exhaustive, but it does highlight some of the most interesting and/or appealing characters, as well as ones that have the potential to be so.

Koko the Clown

One of the oldest cartoon stars from the Fleischer studio, almost all of Koko's silent-era cartoons are PD, and have been for quite some time. A handful of his appearances alongside Betty Boop are also PD.

Oswald the Lucky Rabbit

Oswald's PD status has been greatly overshadowed by his fellow Disney star Mickey, but I believe that he deserves more recognition. All of the shorts produced by the Disney studio are PD as of this year, and let's face it, those are the only ones most people care about. Pegleg Pete's bear design is also PD.

Keep in mind that the blue shorts that Oswald wears in Epic Mickey and elsewhere are likely copyrighted, so I recommend steering clear of that.

I'm also not entirely sure you can use the name "Ortensia" for his cat girlfriend, since that name first appeared in Epic Mickey also. She was called "Kitty" back in the day, among other things.

All of Van Beuren Studio's cartoons

The Van Beuren Studio was active during the rubberhose era, and their cartoons, especially the earlier ones, are like a cruder, possibly even more bizarre cousin to Fleischer and Disney. They went bust in the late 1930s, and no one renewed the copyright later on, so the entirety of their output is PD.

Their most notable characters include Tom and Jerry, a pair of average Joes who always get into strange adventures. They shouldn't be confused with MGM's Tom and Jerry, and in fact they were called Dick and Larry when their shorts were rereleased for the home-movie market in the 1940s.

Also notable is Waffles and Don, who are basically just animal versions of Tom and Jerry. You might consider these two as a better alternative, just to avoid confusion.

There's also Cubby Bear, a pretty blatant Mickey Mouse clone, but unique enough that I don't think anybody’s going to confuse the two nowadays.

In the previous post, I mentioned a rumor that Disney threatened legal action over the character, but I can't find the source for that now. I may have been thinking of Milton Mouse, who was so extremely similar to Mickey that they actually did sue the studio for copyright infringement. So maybe don't try selling any Milton merchandise...

Finally, there's Molly Moo-Cow, who appeared in several Rainbow Parade cartoons in the mid-to-late 1930s. Molly is arguably not the most interesting character, but I have a fondness for her since we grew up with one of her shorts on a VHS tape.

Toby the Pup

Another very obscure character, about half of his cartoons are lost media. The little that does survive is hard to find online, but I think his design has appeal.

Dr. XXX

Disney's The Mad Doctor was never renewed for reasons unknown, though some speculate that the studio thought that the cartoon was too scary and decided to let it go. Fortunately for us, that means that this iconic character is now in the people's hands.

Goopy Geer

Goopy appeared in the three Merrie Melodies cartoons alongside his unnamed girlfriend. Despite his name and appearance being similar to Disney's Goofy, he actually made his debut about a month before (Goofy was named Dippy Dawg at the time anyway, so it was undoubtedly a coincidence).

Claude Hopper

Claude appeared in a single Looney Tunes cartoon in 1943 called Hop and Go, alongside a pair of Scottish rabbits who antagonize him. The cartoon ends with a very unfortunate depiction of Tokyo being blown up (World War II was still going on at the time), so it's no surprise that Warner Bros. decided not to renew this one. Despite that, he has a very appealing design (imo), so I think he has potential. (Also, he's voiced by Pinto Colvig, the original voice of Goofy!)

Private Snafu and Mr. Hook

Snafu and Hook were created for the US government, so according to the law are automatically public domain. The shorts were made to be shown to members of the US army and navy respectively, in order to teach them valuable lessons for fighting in WWII, but are nevertheless hilarious cartoons- animated by the Looney Tunes team with scripts by Ted Geisel- aka Dr. Seuss!

The Dover Boys

Yes, Tom, Dick and Larry, Dora Standpipe and the villainous Dan Backslide are all public domain. A bunch of YouTube Poops were created after this fact was discovered by the internet a few years ago.

How Warner Bros. could ever let this one get away I'll never know. Their loss is our gain, I suppose.

Also of note are the ComiColor cartoons from the Iwerks studio, Rainbow Parade from Van Beuren, and most of the Color Classics by Fleischer. These don't have any especially memorable characters in them, but I thought I ought to mention them.

Caveats and other concerns

Krazy Kat

All of the strips up to 1928 are definitely fair game. According to the Public Domain Superheroes wiki however, the entirety of the strip's run is PD. I'm not sure if it that's true, but the Fantagraphics collections don't credit any newspaper syndicate, so it seems likely. (Apparently the copyright status of newspaper comics are a whole can of worms on its own...)

At any rate, the strip's cast was pretty well set in stone by 1928, so it shouldn't be much of a problem. A large number of animated shorts starring Krazy are also PD, but those were pretty much in name only.

Felix the Cat

Felix was pretty much the first cartoon superstar, and almost all of his Golden Age appearances are PD now. Keep in mind that this does not include elements from the 1950s cartoon like his magic bag, or from The Twisted Tales of Felix, as amazing as that series is.

The character's name and appeance are still trademarked by NBC Universal however, so you might be able to use him in a minor role, but not much else.

Flip the Frog

I'm uncertain about this one. According to most sources Flip is PD, but according to the Thunderbean Blu-ray collection he's copyrighted by the Film Preservation Archives, whatever that means. Additionally, Flip himself is supposedly trademarked by Leslie Iwerks, Ub Iwerks’ granddaughter, though no one seems to be able to confirm that. I don't know how the trademark hasn't lapsed yet, considering that Flip hasn't appeared on any official merchandise or anything in decades.

Bosko and Honey

I believe there's nothing stopping anyone from using Bosko's classic design (later appearances at MGM and in Tiny Toons are still copyrighted), but the character himself is a bit problematic, considering that it's all but stated outright that he's a blackface caricature. Use with caution.

Foxy and Roxy

Like Goopy Geer, Foxy appeared in three Merrie Melodies cartoons. Roxy's name originates from an episode of Tiny Toon Adventures however, so keep that in mind. Though I'm not sure what else you would call her (or if Warner Bros. would even care). Supposedly her original name was "Fluffy", but I can't find a source for this.

Like Bosko and Honey, later appearances in Tiny Toons are still copyrighted.

Noveltoons

Ginger Nutt (and rest of the Animaland cast)

Noveltoons was a series produced by Famous Studios, the successor to the Fleischer studio. The characters include Baby Huey, Herman the mouse, Blackie the sheep, Little Audrey, and of course, Casper the Friendly Ghost. Only a small handful of the shorts are PD though, and Casper is trademarked, so one's options are limited.

Baby Huey's first cartoon, in particular, was not renewed, so his original design, his mother, and the fox who tries to eat him are probably free to use.

This one I'm not entirely sure about either, but Ginger Nutt's Christmas Circus has long been a staple of grey-market tapes and DVDs, so I'm just going to assume all of the Animaland cartoons are also PD. Considering that the series wasn't very sucessful, and is very obscure nowadays, it seems pretty likely.

If anyone has any insight on this, let me know.

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer (1964)

Now here's an interesting case. An all-time classic Christmas special, and yet large parts of it are PD because they accidentally put the wrong date on the copyright notice. Instead of the Roman numerals MCMLXIV (1964), it reads MCLXIV (1164), and according to the law at the time, that meant that the film immediately went into public domain.

Of course, Rudolph himself is still copyrighted, and will be until 2035 when the original book falls into the public domain. Even then he's likely to still be trademarked. Not to mention the songs featured in the '64 film will be copyrighted for a long time afterward.

Still, this means that anyone is free to use all the other characters, including Hermey, Yukon Cornelius, King Moonracer, Clarice, and all the Misfit Toys. It's a wonder no one seems to have taken advantage of this. And of course Santa and his reindeer have been PD for ages, especially Santa since he comes from folklore- and you can't copyright folklore.

Calvin and the Colonel

This cartoon is based on and stars a lot of the same voice cast as the old-time radio show Amos and Andy, which, while not overtly racist, featured white actors pretending to be black. The cartoon obviously has animals instead, but still, tread carefully. Someone is bound to point out the characters' history.

Hoppity Hooper

Another one I'm not sure about. The Public Domain Superheroes wiki has characters from this show among its articles, but I wasn't able to confirm if it really was PD. It was created by Jay Ward, the same studio who made Rocky & Bullwinkle and George of the Jungle, but was also a huge flop for some reason, so that may be the reason why they let the copyright expire. Again, I'm not sure, but no one seems to care that the entire series is on YouTube, so who knows?

...Well, there you have it. Lots of obscure and forgotten toons waiting to be rediscovered and reused! If anyone has any more info or corrections, leave me a comment. I'd love some clarification on some of these.

HOW I WOULD REWRITE THE TEEN WOLF MOVIE

First of all its a slice of life comedy 

No villain just normal problems, but maybe background Monroe issues

Each character has a running gag or a funny arc 

Scott:

Runs his own veterinary business but accidentally placed his building in a place with primary cat people. He can not treat cats because they go crazy around him (he tells the humans he's allergic to cats). So the whole movie is him talking to real estate agents about buying a new building and selling his current one. The process is painfully slow. (but the new place is in beacon hills were this all takes place)

Kira: 

Is still not in the movie but a bit after 6b she came back from the skinwalkers and she and scott get married. During the movie she's actually having a girls weekend with the skinwalkers because they became good friends 

Lydia:

She and Stiles have twins (like 10 years old or something) and a newborn baby. Stiles convinces Lydia to take a break cause she's so stressed and to go visit their friends (so thats why shes in bh) during the movie she'll be having a conversation interrupts by taking a phone call. Its the twins' school. She is the leader of the PTA. This happens multiple times throughout the movie. (minor detail of her being super successful, getting that feilds medal, and being like the second Stephen Hawkins basically)

Stiles: 

Is at home taking care of the newborn, we cant hear his voice but Lydia talks to him on the phone.

Jackson:

Is just constantly hanging out with lydia the entire movie, her sidekick, her goon

Malia: 

Life way more put together than in the real movie. She works as like a camp ranger nature person or whatever, has weekly dinner with Mr. Tate, and is overall living her best life. Shes currently single but like every guy her age in beacon hills is trying to get with her. Shes also internet famous. She has simps. She lives in beacon hills but has traveled to a few different countries, including france 

Parish:

Is no longer a cop because he found his true calling in modeling 

Sheriff:

Retired and tired. Lydia is staying with him during her visit. He's just really happy about being a grandfather

Derek:

Same basically, a cool dad, so similar to tyler heclens (idk sp) portrayal of clark kent that a joke about that is made

The scene where he talks to coach is there so that coach can not recognize him and then derek is like "oh sorry, how about now?" (he walked into the corner of the room, clenched his fists at his side, and started glaring like he was about to kill someone) and coach is like omg yeah i remember you, hows it been? 

Also he is married to braeden and she is elis step mom

ALSO he has 11 kids including eli, he is tom baker cheaper by the dozen.

Eli: 

Stiles' biggest fan, just like that one post✊ (i saw a post about that being why hes like stiles and it annoying derek and its one of the funniest things ever, i dont remeber the poster sorry) calls all of the original pack uncle or aunt. He and Malia besties. His arc is he has a boyfriend or girlfriend and is trying desperately for no one to find out because they all babysitted him and are notorious for telling embarassing baby stories to his friends and previous partners. He's the oldest sibling.

Chris:

Literally just chilling, planning a tropical vacation, is married to Melissa 

Melissa:

Still works at hospital, overly mushy with chris, especially in front of peter 

Peter: 

Same as usual but 10x more dramatic. Lives on Melissa's coach. Theres a few random times in the movie hes being interviewed like hes in the office. He's the only one that this happens with.

Issac:

Only speaks in french, but there are subtitles for the audience. Only speaks English to Chris even though Chris knows french. Malia and him are friends from when she visited france.

Liam:

Professional lacrosse player, is in the lacrosse nfl (i have no idea if thats a thing) hangs out with mason and on his off time he leads an anger management class

Mason: 

Politician, the only thing stopping him from being president is his age. Corey uses his powers to steal incriminating evidence against masons evil political opponents. They are married. 

Theo:

He's a trailer life vlogger, very successful online. Regularly hits up scott and liam for no particular reason (its because hes lonely) its never mentioned but there's a brief shot of his trailer and on one of the walls there's a picture of the pack with a picture of theo tapped to it. And/or just a picture of stiles* Bonus points for hearts. 

He goes to liams class as a demonstration on how not to beat someone up when you're angry (liam and theo usually end up fighting anyway)

Allison: 

Either not in it or inexplicably alive. No mention as of how or why or when she came back. At one point there is a very clear reference to her death so the audience knows it wasn't reconned or something 

OR ( my sister's idea) Chris Ouija boards her every friday night and they chat

Deaton: 

Just doing completely unrelated shady shit, which all ends up being something super anti-climatic

PosyClan Characters Year 1!

Hello! I’ve been working on my ClanGen comic for sometime now and I feel like it’s a good time to start posting :D

First off : The Holly Family

Icestar (Formerly Iceholly) :

Male

Adult (30 Moons)

Icestar comes from a family that was renowned for their bright red coats, seemingly having a strong connection with StarClan and being revered for their numerous accomplishments. Icestar was born with a duller coat but marked with start white, which was seen as being touched directly from StarClan.

Icestar overthrew the previous leader Tulipstar with the help of StarClan and a few loyal clanmates. The strongest in the Clan, he was always known for his silent and unnerving demeanor, and an unrelenting faith in their ancestors and heritage.

Poppykit :

Female

Kit (4 Moons)

Poppykit was adopted by Icestar shortly after the coup, finding her abandoned along the border

Growing up in the new PosyClan, Poppkit is a hyper and mischevious child, constantly trying chasing after the other kits and trying to fight Twolegs. She loves her father, but has an especially close bond with her older brother, Caterpillarpaw.

Caterpillarpaw :

Male

Apprentice (8 Moons)

Caterpillarpaw was born shortly before the coup and spent his kithood in a tense and hostile home. Unlike his father, his red coat has entirely been taken over with white. This was seen as a sign that he’ll be destined to be a great protector of PosyClan.

He is extremely timid and nauseated over his proclaimed destiny, which makes his relationship with his father strained.

He is apprenticed under his father.

The Moss Family

Ambermoss :

Female

Adult (29 Moons)

Ambermoss is the current deputy of PosyClan.

She was one of the three loyal followers of Icestar, as well as being kithood friends. She was given the role of deputy as she was the strongest of the three, as well as being his first follower.

She fell in love with her mate Minnowfern during the planning for the coup, and the rules against dating medicine cats were a factor for her rebelling.

She is the opposite of Icestar : Bubbly and kind, she soothes a lot of the tension he brings to the other Clanmates.

Minnowfern :

Adult (33 Moons)

The medicine cat of PosyClan

Minnowfern was the one who gave Icestar the original prophecy and omens from StarClan, becoming his second follower

He is currently in charge of all spiritual and medicinal affairs, but hopes to gain an apprentice in the near future.

He is very charismatic and good with the younger cats, teaching them all they need to know

And lastly, The Prim Family :

Primrip :

Male

Senior (127 Moons)

Primrip is the current mediator of PosyClan

The oldest of the three followers, Primrip decided to join them after a lifetime of strife and numerous tragedies. After the coup, he adopted the remaining four orphaned kits left behind.

Like Ambermoss, he helps sort out problems in the Clan, as well as being the babysitter as well.

Dapplekit & Dashkit

Female / Male

Kitten (4 Moons)

Losing their parents in the coup, Dapple and Dashkit were taken in by Primrip.

Dapplekit is constantly fighting with Poppykit and her siblings, matching Poppy’s hyper energy and wanting to be “the best warrior” in the Clan

Dashkit is the more reserved of the two, choosing to stay in the sidelines. He prefers to be by himself.

Alderpaw :

Female

Apprentice (9 Moons)

Alderpaw, along with her sister Thriftpaw, were orphaned sometime before the coup, left to be on their own in the Clan until the coup. They were adopted by Primrip afterwards.

Out of the three, Alderpaw is the most agile apprentice, having a strong desire to adventure outside of the Clan’s territory. She loves to meet new animals and make friends. She gets along easily with Caterpillarpaw, although she has a tendency to unintentionally make him nervous and antsy with her escapades.

She is apprenticed to Icestar

Thriftpaw :

Female

Apprentice (9 Moons)

Thriftpaw is the most moody of the apprentices, tending to go against orders and curfew.

She has a tendency to lash and is easily frustrated, and mainly takes this out on Caterpillarpaw.

She is apprenticed to Ambermoss, who helps her regulate her outbursts

And that’s about it for now! Next post should hopefully be a loose map of the territory, and a brief description of the outside clans :D

Decided to make a post covering all the other clan’s clerics. (These are their ages as of moon 11)

In Oakclan we have the infamous, Mousefoot! He’s the oldest cleric in the forest currently at 119 moons as of moon 11. He was born in Oakclan but has roots from Duskclan by way of his father. He’s also Shadowdive’s great paternal uncle, though they aren’t particularly close as outside of immediate family (parents and siblings) most cats aren’t more bonded with family clan mates than non family clan mates. Still it’s interesting to see the resemblance. Being the eldest cleric, many cats would expect him to retire soon but hes tried being an elder and always comes back within a few days. He just enjoys being a cleric too much, plus with how often Fogdapple is gone and Butterflygaze being unsuited for patient care, it’s best that he stays lead cleric. While he’s never been as innovative as other clerics of the clan, he’s so experienced that even doing things ‘the old way’ he has the lowest patient mortality. He’s a strange, thoughtful cat who’s also a great healer.

Next we have Fogdapple! As a former kittypet she knows a lot of medical terms and procedures that clan born cats don’t. She’s constantly coming up with new ways to perform medical care, she pioneered suturing in the clans as well as casts made from a clay mud mix over stick splints. While she might claim to get these ideas from Starclan or just her own ingenuity, that’d be a fat lie, her brother is owned by a local vet clinic and tells her all the stuff he hears and sees. It’s half a days walk to visit him, she’ll take a few days to do so and just say she’s out ‘communing with Starclan’. Both Mousefoot and the previous leader have their doubts about her but Archstar thinks as long as she keeps the charade up and keeps improving the clan’s medical care it doesn’t matter. She’s competitive, grumpy, and a good climber. She’s 78 moons as of moon 11.

Next is Butterflygaze, he’s the youngest cleric in the clan at 22 moons and the most neurotic. He’s paranoid about everything and constantly cleanses the cleric’s den, he suffers from seizures after a head injury as a warrior apprentice. After the concussion and onset of seizures, his personality drastically changed, he was very anxious and did compulsive behaviors like over grooming and plucking his whiskers. He snapped at his loved ones and would refuse to eat bc he thought he was being poisoned, no one knew how to help him. Many cats worried he’d hurt himself if he didn’t get treatment soon. It was actually Fogdapple who managed to figure out how to best help him, she started him on some really potent calming herbs and worked with the mediators for his therapy. It took a while for him to trust her but once he was more regulated he decided to be a cleric, specifically her apprentice. Even now that he’s an adult, he basically operates as her assistant. He’s still anxious and compulsive but it’s easier for him to ease himself back from an attack. He’s also very good at repetitive motions/tasks, so he makes most of the clans herbal concoctions. For the most part he keeps to himself, eating alone and going days without speaking. However the clan is fine with his antisocial tendencies, as he’s actually happy now that he has his routine and can be alone. He’s careful, gloomy, and a good healer. (It’s hard to tell in this pic but he’s very scrawny and has some scaring from his over grooming)

Finally for Oakclan we have Redpaw, the only apprentice. He was found at ~5 moons old in a trap by a patrol. He wasn’t crying, wasn’t acting injured, he was just staring up at the sky. When they found him they had to amputate his leg to retrieve him. He was given a place in the clan and soon learned he’s mute, so he began learning clan sign. After he was able to communicate he decided to be a cleric. He’s apprenticed to Mousefoot and is 6 moons old. He’s got a super high pain tolerance and always has dreamy expression on his face. He’s not very social but he’s not unfriendly, he’s good with kits and the more nervous cats. He’s quiet, a day dreamer, and quick to help.

Moving onto Honeyclan we have their lead cleric Rosedrift. A former loner this molly is 100 moons old and a bit of a hippy. Surprisingly childish despite her title, she enjoys teasing others and likes puzzles and games. She’s very beautiful and knows it, uses it to get out of shit she doesn’t wanna do even though she’s technically in charge. A lot of cats are nervous that she’s technically their spiritual leader as she is not very connected with Starclan and it’s for a good reason. She’s a huge gossip! This girl can’t keep her yap shut to save her life, starclan can’t trust her with shiiiiiit bc she’s not gonna keep any secret ever. Even her own! Everyone is uncomfortable updated on how her bowel movements were or if she tripped and fell into the mud etc. but it’s ok bc we love her and she’s good at her herbal work and great for moral and cheering cats up. Also the most likely to give you cat nip for recreational use, does not partake bc it makes her sneeze. She’s childish, flamboyant, and a beloved kit sitter.

Next we have Fernstorm, we’ve met them once at Lynxpaw’s first after gathering. They’ve been assisting in her training twice a moon for the past few moons. This cat is probably the most normal cleric we will ever meet, everyone else has these big personalities, weird quirks, and super sad back stories and this gib is just a lil guy. They’re as mellow as can be, aside from being a reliable cleric and decent Starclan communicator they’re really only known for two things. 1. They’re always zooted off their stash of cat nip from their personal secret garden that no one can find (hint it’s actually just over the border and in Capri’s territory but they have a deal worked out and she gets her cut). And 2. They have the worst skin allergies, specifically flea contact dermatitis, they have to take medicated baths of salt, lavender, chamomile, and rose hips almost weekly to combat this issue. They also use balms from honeycomb and herbs to help repel fleas and shredded cedar bark woven into their nest. It’s bad, as soon as one bites them they’re breaking out in scabs and hives, luckily it’s not fatal but it’s very painful. (Keep your pets on flea/heartworm prevention year round yall even the indoor babies). They’re 68 moons old, they’re loyal, patient, and a good speaker. (You can see he has some scabby patches here 🥺)

Finally we have Junipersong, we’ll meet this grumpy girl in the next moon. She’s a recent graduate at 12 moons old and is not happy about her role. She’s Rookstar’s daughter and really wanted to be a code keeper. She enjoys arguing debating, she likes to be out of camp, and she’s a good fighter. All the makings of a great warrior, but when she was young she showed a remarkable connection with Starclan, she retained her ability to speak with Starclan cats directly even into her adulthood. And while her parents and clan didn’t technically pressure her into being a cleric, she still felt forced when she got apprenticed. Everyone was relieved when she did as the other clerics they have aren’t really spiritual and the clan needs to feel that that bond is secure. Or else political unrest can happen. So she became a cleric, even though she’s not friendly and tends to speak without thinking. She’s even pissed that she was given such a flowery name, she wanted to be Juniperclaw or Juniperstrike. She’s not particularly close with anyone but enjoys bumping heads with Fogdapple (the feeling is not mutual) and finds Darkfold to be good company(she has a crush). Despite her sour attitude and more aggressive tendencies, she is a good clan mate and tries to give decent bedside manner (by not talking and getting them healed quickly so they get outta her den). She still sleeps in the leader’s den with her parents half the time, she doesn’t care who judges. She’s shameless, arrogant, and has ghost sense.

Finally, we have the two newest apprentices of Duskclan, on the left is Crowpaw and the right is Frostwhisper, we’ll meet them in the next moon. (I’m not gonna cover Darkfold again)

Crowpaw is Tallowpaw’s littermate and has been Darkfold’s apprentice since Mallowstripe’s departure. They’re a petite gib who’s very medically gifted, they’re gonna be a great healer but have less of a connection with Starclan than most clerics. However due to the need for clerical help in their clan they can get away with shirking some of that onto Frost or Darkfold. Their mom is a recent Duskclan addition, she was a loner who tried to leave her kits with the clan bc she couldn’t care for them and herself, however Jaggedstar offered to let her join as well so she could stay with her litter. Her mom (Thrushpelt) is a camp keeper now. Her full name will be Crowflight. Crowpaw is 9 moons old, sneaky, lonesome, and interested in herbs.

Frostwhisper is also a gib, they were a warrior until moon 11 ish when they had a strange dream that Darkfold interpreted as they should be a cleric. They’re more spiritually gifted than Crowpaw, but less medically adept. Between the two they make one fully functioning cleric ✨✨✨ Frost is a clan born cat and a second cousin of Jaggedstar, their parents are Hawklily(M) and Redstorm (F). Their mom was born in Oakclan but one parent was originally Duskclan, they returned to Duskclan as an apprentice and became a warrior. Their dad is originally from Honeyclan, parents were loners and dropped him off there. He immigrated to Duskclan as a care taker and fell in love with Redstorm. They’re 34 moons old, sincere, strict, and have an innate connection to Starclan.

They’re both fairly similar, very calm stoic cats that take their job seriously. I imagine the main difference between them would be if they make a mistake Frost would own up to it right away even if it’s minor, while Crow may try to either cover up their mistake or wait until someone notices to fess up. We’ll see if they grow out of that trait.

I made cookies today! Chocolate chip w toffee pieces. I remembered the brown sugar this time (I make them from a cake mix, lmao, bc it gives u more cookies than a cookie mix in my experience) and they came out nice and chewy :) I’m so happy it’s cooled off enough that baking doesn’t feel horrible

It’s getting cooler so I am much comfier and also my cat snuggles with me at night more instead of abandoning me for the hotter

Welcome to SleepyClan! SleepyClan is a Clan of, as the name implies, very tired cats. Their patrols have very odd schedules and therefore their sleep schedules aren't the healthiest, but it doesn't bother them all too much, as long as they can survive each Leaf-Bare.

Their home is in a mossy grotto with ivy growing all across the walls. It's hidden from any other Clans, for now anyways, and it serves SleepyClan well for shelter against Leaf-Bare. Hopefully it will for many moons longer!

Now to meet the cats of SleepyClan!

Burrstar is the leader of SleepyClan, and the oldest cat in the Clan at that. She was appointed deputy not for any physical strength, but for her wit and intelligence. Problem solving skills like hers have served her well as deputy AND leader and they will for moons more.

Eldermuzzle may look like he's on his way to retirement, but he's actually younger than a good chunk of the Clan. He's hard working and makes sure to get the job done.

Ivyspark is the medic of SleepyClan, though he very much sticks to strictly medicine. He doesn't understand the fuss around communication with dead cats and isn't good at it when he's tried. He is excellent with herbs, though. He has been thinking of taking on an apprentice.

Icepelt is very much a goofball, always trying to have fun and teasing her clanmates like a kit. Despite this, however, she is very intelligent and will prove you wrong if you call her a mousebrain.

Glintfur's name is accurate, and her fur is almost always glistening from some delicate grooming. She is well aware of the intricacies of Clan life and conversation and uses this to her advantage plenty.

Greenriver is ALSO a goofball, but not in the same way as Icepelt. Rather than teasing, Greenriver is all physical contact, batting at his clanmate's ears and shoving them around until a play-fight begins. He also loves pranks, but some of his clanmates aren't so fond of these antics.

Nectardash takes his duties as a warrior very seriously, especially when battle is involved. Whether that's because he just wants to fight really badly is up to interpretation though. He got his scar from a border skirmish.

Beamkit is the only kit in the Clan and isn't due to become an apprentice anytime soon. He uses his time in the nursery alone to make mischief and has many a time brought a bug into some poor cat's nest.

Magnoliagrowl is SleepyClan's guide to StarClan. She used to be Burrstar's deputy but unfortunately passed in the previous leaf-bare. She watches over Beamkit especially. I wonder why...

It’s Libra Nox! I’ve posted a drawing or two of her here before, I don’t know if anyone remembers the few posts I made about my WIP The Haunted and the Hollow, but it took a WHILE to get there

2018-2019

I was a warrior cats kid in 7th grade, and I loved wolves, so obviously I made my own warrior cats ripoff trilogy with wolves instead of cats (I don’t remember what it was called though unfortunately)

Libra/Twig was originally a boy, and his name was Twig (but I’d planned on changing it later in the story for plot reasons)

He had two moms (yay lesbians)

I made so much art for this I WISH I still had some of it 😭

In the story there were these magic wolves with wings that were basically gods and controlled different elements (like fire, water, plants, light, etc.)

Libra/Twig was one of these (I think he controlled the stars which was how he got the name Libra??)

Originally I was gonna name him Virgo but decided that sounded too feminine (oh how the tables have turned)

Fun fact, this story birthed ANOTHER character I’ll probably talk about in another post

Libra was still a guy but now he’s a human with fire powers

I think he was like 14?? He barely had any adult supervision though, the only technically adult around him long enough to be considered supervision was 18

This is my first post ever and I thought maybe I could share a nice story with ya all. I've never really put it in complete order so it's time I do that.

As prelude, I own 3 cats. One of them, the oldest, is, at the time of writing this, 12 years old, with his papers noting that he was born the 6th of April 2012, 3 days after my dad's birthday. His name is Sacha, despite the vets who all name him Sasha (and also wrote that he's a girl for some reason? I mean he doesn't seem bothered but I don't think he understands English.) His name is kinda dumb but my bro named him. I prefer giving Egyptian names to my cats.

I got Sacha around 2015, I don't really remember which month. I was around 13 at the time and my first cat had just died. My mom was really feeling bad so we adopted Sacha from a center. His previous owners had placed him there cuz the lady got pregnant and apparently cats can mess with fetuses or something. Idk but I think his previous owners were lame cuz he stayed in that center for like 6 months and they took bad care of him. His claws grew in his paws, his fur got a lot of knots and he smelled really bad. He's half Persian so he needs a lot of care.

When he arrived home he was super sweet but really doing poorly. We toon him to the vet for his claws and hired a lady to remove his knots. He didn't like his new cut so the lady zooted him on I thinl weed? It was some drug, mfer has had more experiences with illicit substances than I and I'm kinda jealous tbh.

Sacha was my only cat for a while. My mom adopted Bagheera, a kitten born from one of her sister's cats when she divorced my dad around 2016 and Sacha stayed at my dad's place with me and my brother (the fucker who named him with such a lame name).

Anyway time passed, I lived my best life with my cat, took care of him, took him to vet every year for his vaccines (he goes outside), reconnected with my mom and adopted a kitten who was born in my mom's backyard and named him Settra. So that's why I have 3 cats. But back on track, in 2022 Sacha got an eye infection. We had to do a lot of ophtalmology to get it sorted and my mom helped a lot with that despite the fact that the cat wasn't even in her home. His eye's doing okay now but he needed new material be brought in his eye. Persians tend to be weak in eyes and nose.

Then when the summer vacations of 2023 ended, Sacha got sick. At first it was a minor cold so we didn't do anything, some snot in his nose, then around mid September he ate less. Come end of September and he was doing bad, still eating but always sneezing and his throat was inflamed. I brought him to the vet and he was given antibiotics that kinda helped.

By the beginning of October Sacha was doing pretty poorly and eating way less. He was always a fat cat so this concerned me a lot. The vet couldn't tell why the antibiotics weren't acting as he was supposed to have an infection so they gave him more and asked us to get a visit to a pet hospital 1h of travel away (Belgium is small, 1h of travel looks a lot for me but for American folks it's prilly shorert). So we did, got something planned for end of october. I wanted faster but they were full and he was still eating so not an emergency.

Meanwhile Sacha's health got worse. One of his eyes (not the one who had the surgery) couldn't open and he had little things in the part of forehead between his eyes that made a sort of scritchy sound when you ran your hand over it. Most concerningly, he wasn't eating. We (my mom and I) took him to another vet who did acupuncture with relative success, allowed Sacha to eat well for a day or two before going back to not eating.

I was getting really desperate so I mixed his food and fed him with a syringe for a week. I knew if my dad knew he wasn't eating, he'd suggest euthanasia as the costs of bringing a pet to the hospital are quite high. So I took his wet food, put it in my mom's mixer and mixed it for like 15 minutes when going back from school while dad was away, then cut it into even smaller bits and forcefed him with a syringe (his throat was super inflamed and small so he was probably in pain and I knew it but I couldn't stand to watch him thin like that).

On the 26th of October, we went to the hospital for him. My mom and I were reluctant to go there because it's an universitary hospital and we were kinda scared that he'd be put on life support and...I guess experimented on? We didn't want his life be prolonged if he was in constant pain but we went nonetheless. My mom took a day off work (again, she took a lot to get the cat to the vet) and I warned my Spanish teacher that I couldn't attend. She's a really sweet lady and I told her the story, she was super supportive.

The hospital was not all like we anticipated. The doctors were really charming and quite open with how much stuff cost. I speak French and the hospital staff spoke Dutch so we settled on English as a language to communicate with. Tirns out spending all that time playing dnd with strangers on discord paid off for me, I was able to talk with these docs no problem.

Of course without insurance it was expensive but it was doable to pay. They ran scans on Sacha and it was promising, they said he had an infection but had the right antibiotics for him. Since he didn't eat, they wanted to keep him there and we agreed. We gave our phone numbers and left.

When we visited Sacha the following day, they told us he had a lymphoma. It's blood cancer for those who dunno what that means (I certainly didn't till October). They asked us if we wanted to begin chemo.

I was fucking devastated. That cat had been with me through my parents' divorce, the death of family members, graduation, the lowest of my sick days and the brightest of my good days. I didn't want to leave him die of hunger without a fight.

My mom didn't have enough money to pay for it in full and my dad'd never use his money to pay for a cat's chemotherapy so I agreed to pay most of ot. I had a decent bit of money in a bank account, I basically never buy anything so pockeh money, student job money and birthday money stacked up. My dad'd never have allowed me to pay for that (neither him nor I even knew they had chemotherapy for cats) so I lied and said my mom paid for it.

He stayed at the hospital until the 31st of October, of course we visited him everyday and the hospital staff kept us informed with daily phonecalls to schedule a visit and tell us what was up. During that time (5 days since he arrived, 4 days since chemo started) they put a tube in his throat to feed him and started the chemo.

That. Shit. Worked. When we brought him home, he could open his eye again and even wanted to go for food (motherfucker do you know how much that tube costs?). He played with the other cats and we had a weekly checkup for him. I missed many Spanish classes. During his time at the center he really liked one doctor who calls him Sir and basically saved his life.

Of course he stayed at my mom's place. It was easier for feeding through his tube at first, my mom was in vacations and he needed 3 meals a day, then he stayed there. Wasn't gonna let him stay in the home of a person who'd let him die. I love my dad but fuck him for this. He admitted several times he'd have never brought my cat to that hospital (so he'd have left him die of cancer and hunger, poor cat was thinning by the day).

His tube was removed a month later and visits moved to once every 3 weeks. It's been continuing since then with me and my mom paying 50/50 for the costs. I missed a university travel to Athens because I couldn't afford it (something I'll never admit to my parents, I pretended there was drama and I didn't want to get involved) and I guess I won't leave the country this year. Honestly I'd have cut both arms to save that cat so it's a small price.

The people at the hospital love him too. He's really friendly so students can take his blood and try to take his heartbeat without worries. Problem is that he purrs too loud for a good lung listening to take place. Turns out Sacha loves getting pets and attention from groups of students and doctors who give him treats and headpats. He has done more drugs than me and has a better date game than me.

It's been quite a while now. Sacha's been doing really well and the recent reports note that he is in remission. I may have cried when I read that mail ngl. He goes outside and killed a big pigeon a few weeks ago. He plays with the other cats, he really likes Settra and for the first time in his life he does playfight. Bagheera likes him as a punching bag despite being smaller than him. My mom stays with him everyday and I visit half of the days of the week. He eats like a lion too, he went from 3 kilos to 4.7 kilos when he was last checked this Wednesday.

I guess this is a selfish post, it's kind of my way of both thanking the people who helped me like my mom, the docs and my Spanish teacher, without having to say thank you to their faces yet again, and a way of making my cat immortal in a way. Even with all the help, Sacha's gonna be gone one day, hopefully in a very long time. But this post'll remain for a while more so there'll be a trace of what humans did for that cat.

I also wanted to say that please don't be afraid to go to universitary pet hospitals if you have the means to afford it. It's a scary place, I didn't even know it existed but these people aren't out there vivisecting animals. They're really nice. And don't give up too early on stuff that matters to you, it's really worth to keep going, at least in this case.

And if you could do a few prayers for Sacha, that'd genuinely mean a lot to me.

Currently on moon 88 and my original Clan leader Thistlestar just lost all 7 of her remaining lives to old age. Eagleclaw is now Eaglestar (also a founding Clan member, though he was a kit when the Clan was formed)!

Batheart - A single kitten born to her mother Meadowbubble on the same moon that her father Splinternest died. Now Meadowbubble is gone, she has no family left, but she has a mate, Vervainsting

Meadowbubble - A Clan founder, she had two kits with an unknown cat, and then one kitten, Batheart, with another Clan cat, Splinternest. He died when Batheart was born, and then her two kits from her previous litter were both killed by a dog a few moons later. Meadowbubble passed away recently as an elder from whitecough. She went through a lot of loss in her life, but was very close to Batheart

Jackdawflit - Another Clan founder (they were a kit at the time), and Eaglestar's mate. These two have adopted SO many kittens in their lifetime.

Limerain - Eaglestar's only surviving biological kit from an unknown mother, before he got with Jackdawflit. She was originally from a litter of four. Two of her siblings died young (one as a kit who got eaten by a shrew which was pretty messed up) and her brother Stonethistle died recently

Jumblepurr - One of several kits born to the original leader Thistlestar, and her mate, the medicine cat Greenblotch. I just love his name tbh

Drifttree - An orphaned kitten who broke his back as an apprentice, and somehow fully recovered!

Halloween - A loner that joined the Clan very early on, and quickly became very close friends with Batheart. She just retired this moon

Man With All The Answers - A loner with an amazing name, who joined the Clan with a large litter of kittens (more like Man With All The Kits). Very wise and seemed to pass on nothing but positive traits to all apprentices he trained, so I guess his name is appropriate. Had another litter of kits with a Clan cat later on, is now retired. He is very fluffy and very ginger

Sci-Fi Worldbuilding: The Weeaboo Empire and their Leaders

This is like my first foray into the nitty-gritty of worldbuilding in my sci-fi setting, which I have now dubbed SolarHood (because the entire setting takes place in the Solar Neighborhood, or a bunch of stars that are close to the Sun). cw for mention of child soldiers or something I guess.

Nekos are one of the oldest post-Human races to evolve. Nekos as a race predate the first interplanetary colonies. They began as a slave race engineered by an American corporation known to target the American Japanophile demographic (coloquially known as weeaboos). As such, they were conditioned to behave in a manner similar to characters from fictional Japanese media and advertised as "The first ever real-life cat-maids!" When interstellar travel was made available, the Neko slaves revolted against their captors and escaped to a distant star which they named Sakura.

Due to the unique conditions of its ethnogenesis, Nekoese culture is heavily influenced by fictional media from the ancient Earth-nation Japan[1], so much so that the Nekoese have their own English dialect, dubbed "Nekoenglish," which incorporates numerous Japanese words (often incorrectly) into its vocabulary. Their naming traditions, too, are heavily influenced by fictional Japanese media, as most common Neko names are either the names of anime characters or mundane Japanese words. They're like the aliens from Galaxy Quest but they're weeaboos instead of Trekkies.

The Neko escapees established the Nekoese State, a military government initially geared around defending against a possible invasion from the United States[2]. This changed after the First Kozmite[3] Incursion, when America provided the Nekoese with military aid. Ever since then, the Nekoese have maintained close relations with the United States. Thirteen years before the Solar Restoration[4], the Nekoese State fell into a civil war known as the Children's Rebellion[5]. The last war the Nekoese State fought before the Solar Restoration was the Second Kozmite Incursion, when the Kozmites invaded both the Nekoese State and the Arcadian Convention[6]. The Technocracy ended up losing again, cementing their status as an international pariah.

Goji Harui is the Supreme Admiral of the Nekoese Space Fleet. He was appointed during the Second Kozmite Incursion after the death of the previous Supreme Admiral. His appointment was controversial due to his young age (of 23) and his service to the Bento-Loyalists during the Children's Rebellion[7], but the President took into account two things when she appointed Goji - his distinguished service during the Second Kozmite Incursion, and the fact the previous Supreme Admiral vouched for him before his death[8].

Ikari Koryu is one of the military commanders responsible for the Children's Rebellion. When he was a child, he was enlisted in the Nekoese Army. He was randomly selected for a secret experiment when he was 15. President Bento subjected Koryu to numerous painful and traumatic operations and trials, turning him into the first and only super-soldier in the Nekoese State, whose body cannot feel pain and can rapidly heal from any wound. Koryu rose quickly through the ranks of the Army, eventually becoming a general. As a general, he staged the Children’s Rebellion alongside Admiral Rimaru Sanobashi and was later appointed Supreme Commander of the Nekoese Army. Despite being a celebrated figure among the Nekoese populace, many military commanders, especially the admiralty, tend to steer clear of him[9].

Goji and Koryu despise each other but keep their enmity on the down-low. Rimaru takes a neutral position because neither Goji nor Koryu have fucked up egregiously enough to warrant getting fired yet.

[1] - Despite being heavily influenced by Japanese fictional media, Nekoese culture has little to no influence from actual Japanese culture. Nekos exclusively speak English, and most of them do not know what Japan is.

[2] - The United States, formerly the United States of America, is the oldest and largest extant nation in the Solar Neighborhood. Before the Fall of Sol (which was when the Solar System was occupied by the exiled Kozmite terrorist Zrout), the United States stood at the forefront of interplanetary and later interstellar colonialism. The US is the only Earth-nation to survive the Fall of Sol.

[3] - The Kozmite Technocracy is the third largest nation in the Solar Neighborhood, controlling five interstellar colonies, as well as a puppet state. Its government is structured in a way that all political power is in the hands of a few tech oligarchs, chief among them being the Overlord. The Technocracy is known for its belligerence, having attacked most of its neighbors throughout its history.

[4] - The Solar Restoration denotes the defeat of the exiled Kozmite terrorist Zrout, who controlled the Solar System for tens of thousands of years, and the establishment of the Free Solar Republic. This would be like the first thing that would happen in a hypothetical comic of this sci-fi setting.

[5] - During the First Kozmite Incursion, the Nekoese State began enlisting child soldiers to fill the hole the Kozmites were eating in their manpower. This policy continued until the Children's Rebellion, when then-General Ikari Koryu and then-Admiral Rimaru Sanobashi, both former child soldiers, rebelled against the former President Ryuga Bento. After the success of the Rebellion, Sanobashi was elected the new President and she appointed Koryu to lead the Nekoese Army.

[6] - The Arcadian Convention are a bunch of furries whose convention grew too big so they fucked off to the stars and formed their own nation-state. The region of the Solar Neighborhood that contains the Arcadians and the Nekoese is colloquially known as the "Cringe Sector." Don't get me started on the furry lore in this setting; I'll be here all night.

[7] - Goji Harui was born on the capital planet of the capital system of the Nekoese State. He enlisted in the Nekoese Army when he was 12, one year before the Children's Rebellion. Because he was stationed in the capital, he had no choice but to fight against the rebels. All of his childhood friends were taken captive and killed by General Ikari Koryu.

[8] - "Of everyone who has ever served in my Fleet, one pilot stands out to me. His name is Goji Harui. He used to be in the Army, switched over after the Children's Rebellion. I know he's just 23, but I think he'd do good in my position. I ask that you appoint him the new Supreme Admiral in the event of my death or retirement. He deserves it more than anyone else." -Letter from the previous Supreme Admiral to President Sanobashi

🍓 - I must credit @acourtofladydeath and her fic All Things End for bringing me to fanfiction in the first place. I read that fic multiple times before I was able to read anything else. This is not fanfiction it is life changing and that is simply a fact.

Quickly fell into the rabbit hole of Azris on ao3 and came across @the-moth-writes Heaven Help The Fool Who Falls in Love and I simply could not get it out of my head and had commented “oh it would be so fun if you …..” and it wasn’t till I was reading @futurehunt A Court of Shadows and Ash and I finally made an account so I could properly comment and interact and I was still stuck on the story idea I had, so I reached out to @the-moth-writes and asked if I could continue her story to which she graciously said yes.

Once I started writing I just couldn’t stop. I was always a big reader and writer growing up and was intending to major in English in college but I had a terrible professor when I was in a college class duel enrolled as a high school student and they absolutely tore my writing apart and I instead got a degree in Religious Studies and BSN. I have not written anything for fun until now and I am so sad that I did not start sooner but I am so happy to be writing again.

☁️ - sometimes I make up stories for my kids as bedtime and bring in a little realism and my oldest was asking me about wishing on stars and I said something along the line that sometimes the stars will answer you back and answer your wish and sometimes your wishes go unanswered. Not because one wish is better than another but sometime we just have to figure out our wishes on our own journey. We now have a little story about what happens to all the stars of unanswered wishes = Unanswered Stars

🌸 - I do not have any currently but we had many cats and dogs growing up. Truth be told I actually do not like pets. I know I know please don’t burn me. I’m allergic to dogs and cats, they both cause my chronic migraines to flare up. I also killed my two pet fish I owned growing up. Both accidentally. One because I over fed it and the other because we went on vacation and I forget to have someone feed it so it starved…

I know I’m the worst I’m sorry.

I would get an outside pet should my children ask.

Foxstar

He/him

Foxstar is ThunderClan's current leader, formerly named Foxstorm. He is confrontational and often comes across as intense without trying to be. He's leaning on traditional and strict on borders.

His intensity comes from wanting to protect his Clanmates. He can be, eh, overbearing.

I really adore the dynamic he has with SkyClan's leader. Silverstar humbles him and shuts him up just by being nice. Foxstar's reaction to Silverstar's kindness after assuming a challenge is embarrassment.

Silverstar

He/him

Silverstar is a lot of things SkyClan wants in a cat. He's kind, compassionate, moral, and VERY polite-- and he has the heart to back it up.

One thing I want to make clear with SkyClan is how different they are from the other four Clans. They were the first to open up most to outsiders and they understand that violence isn't always the right route to take.

Their kindness comes with open borders. Instead of border patrols, they have scout patrols, which are sent out routinely during the day to ensure no real threat has arrived.

So, this is scene I came up with in my head is what inspired Silverstar and Foxstar:

"Some scouts found one of your apprentices on our side of your border." Silverstar speaks directly to Foxstar.

"Are you accusing my cats of trespassing?" Foxstar's tone is as harsh as his glare.

"Of course not, friend." Silverstar offers Foxstar a friendly blink. "We're worried about him, is all. The scouts said he was unwell."

"Ah, uhm..." Foxstar feels his fur heat up. Foxstar hangs his head, staring at his paws, looking like a scolded kit. Silverstar figures he has more to say and waits until Foxstar does, in fact, speak up again, "He was, unfortunately. Uh... he didn't make it."

"Oh..." Silverstar lowers his gaze. "On behalf of SkyClan, we are all sorry for your loss."

Foxstar mumbles something about explanations and announcements, then urges Silverstar to continue his. Silverstar gives one last slow blink, then returns to his speech.

Wrenstar

She/they

ShadowClan's current leader, Wrenstar is the smallest around the lake. I really don't have a strong personality for them, but I do have a story I want to tell. I want to show off her struggles as the successor of a tyrant-- ShadowClan's previous leader, Pheasantstar.

Wrenstar is the newest leader around the lake, she took power after Pheasantstar was killed and swore to make ShadowClan safer.

There was a bloody battle, Wrenwing had her pinned, and Pheasantstar reached out to snap at Wrenwing's throat-- instead, Wrenwing's claws came down on hers instead.

That haunts Wrenstar forever-- that and the pressure of having ShadowClan recover-- their concerns, their fears, their hopes, all on her back-- it's breaking her. She's pretending to be headstrong, as much as it kills her. She wants to be the leader ShadowClan needs so bad.

Sometimes, she doesn't know if she's taking the right steps. Sometimes, she's kept up at by nightmares of killing Pheasantstar, it makes her think so low of herself.

Bramblingwing is there for her, their conversation after the chaos looked something like this:

Wrenstar: "I killed her. What're my cats going to think of me now? I- I'm just like her, Bramblingwing. Oh StarClan, I'm just like her."

Bramblingwing: "She was going to kill you first, dear. You were defending yourself, it's not your fault. You didn't know she had no lives, none of us did."

Wrenstar: "..."

Wrenstar: "I killed her. I'm just like her."

Bramblingwing: "Did you hear me?"

She/her

Saltstar has the most potential as a blank slate. Currently, I'm thinking headstrong and helpful, someone jovial? Definitely looking for ideas.

Ravenstar

He/him

Ravenstar is the oldest cat around the lake and grandfather to WindClan's protagonist, Dogwoodkit/paw.

He's your stereotypical good guy warrior cat-- flexible, good-natured, strong-willed... but he's changing with age.

I want there to be a power struggle in WindClan; A change, really.

Since I first drafted the story in 2022, I had a strong idea of Mangokit, Dogwoodkit's best friend, growing up to be a part of a coup that tries to kill Ravenstar.

Maybe it's righteousness-- Ravenstar makes a choice that results in deaths and this coup gets together to take him out of power.

Maybe it's truly malicious-- the leader(s) of this coup convinces their circle of friends to get together to put Dirtnose up as leader soon.

Maybe it's something else, I'm still deciding!!

Pheasantstar

She/her

SURPRISE SIXTH LEADER!!!

Pheasantstar led ShadowClan before Wrenstar. Her reign was brutal and strict. She's a villain.

She acted as the head of a party of extreme traditionalists, being one of the worst in it. Pheasantstar believed heavily in purebloodedness and looked for any excuse to chase out Clanmates who were of outsider origin. This devastated ShadowClan's population.

I'm thinking her reign was a year long, with the crescendo being a mass exile.

She can kill, she will kill, but she wants to keep it private. AHhahahahaa, nothing to see here ThunderClan. Mind your own business.

She rose into power with style, I think. Let her be fashionable and scary while committing all crimes ever please. Cunning and smart, go girl!!!

Her dreams were cut short when Wrenwing turned on her.

yearning pt. I || what would my friends say if they read this

It's a cold, windy Saturday here in the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois. It's always windy and lately very cold, but today, the sun was shining with all of its might. Al scheduled me for a 5-hour shift today but only stayed 4. I left the building feeling conflicted: relieved to go home and get my first meal for the day but disappointed because I had only earned $10 in tips.

I got a call back from my previous employer yesterday. She said she lost my online application and the sticky note with my phone number, which has delayed the process of hiring me back.

I dread going home because I have to interact with my mom. I love my mom very much. Some days, I love shooting the shit with her and giggling. Most days, I find it very difficult. Sometimes, I think the problem is all her. I get upset, maybe too upset, and receive no consequences (as always). I realize this is very strange and things shouldn't play out like they do. Then, I refuse to believe it is a problem with her, it must be me. It could be possible that it is both of us. We are both just products of our environment, I guess. I love you, Mommy.

I love seeing my cats. I love seeing my items. Material possessions. Worthless shit. A strange reminder that I am not a little girl anymore. I have stuff and things of my own, my mind is my own. I am not just my parent's daughter.

The foreboding of the day only gets worse as I scroll through TikTok. One video after another: throwbacks, compilations, "corecore" videos, gaming clips. Everyone says it will get banned/deleted every year, and every year it has stayed. Why would I believe it this time? But, everyone seems really serious this time. Why is everyone posting their drafts? Why am I posting my drafts? Why am I scared to lose an app?

My fat, obese, orange cat trips me on my way into the kitchen. He is trying to weave through my legs and rub against me. At the moment, I take it as a bad omen. He wants more food. He cannot have more food. He is fat. I would hate for his love of food to cause irreparable damage to his body-- so no, Alfred, you can't have any food right now. I love you, Alfred.

My relationship with my mother has been declining since exactly January 1st. I scream and cry, most of the time when it is only the cats and I in the house. Of course, I muffle it, so as not to disturb my feline friends.

My boyfriend and I have a perfect relationship, perhaps too perfect. My insecurities and anxieties sometimes tell me that it is too good to be true. Surely, he is hiding something like another girl, or he hates something major about me, or I'm just a girlfriend and he isn't dating to marry. 100 different possibilities that have 0 evidence to back them up. Sometimes I feel like a bad partner for thinking these thoughts. He is truly amazing to me, everything I could dream of in a partner. Treats me great, is funny, smart, talented, hardworking, sweet, responsible, clever.. tall, handsome, sexy. We like the same music and almost have the same wardrobe. He's everything. Why would I ever think such awful things of him? I feel like it's so unfair and mean of me to just think these things, even when I don't want to think them. I love you, Pookie-poo.

My second oldest cat, Sliver, has an obsession with chewing on wires. Phone chargers, headphone cords, and even HDMI cords. I've tried so many things to discontinue his strange addiction-- citrus spray (on the wires to prevent chewing, not on him of course), double-sided tape, wire covers, and cable management. My mom bought him squishy-ish chew toys that he has no interest in. I don't blame Sliver. I love chewing on squishy things, feeling them press against my gums and mold them to the shape of my teeth. I f*cking love chewing and teething. I understand you, Sliver. There's no way he could know that chewing wires is dangerous. He loves string, and he loves chewy stuff. The wire is the perfect toy in my little boy's mind. Sliver has hurt himself after getting into a wire. He chewed it away until it was exposed. He needed mouth surgery but fully recovered. Despite it being a traumatic situation for both of us, Sliver seems to have no plans to put down the wires. I hide them all in obscure spots and layers of wire covers. He is not allowed in the computer room without my supervision. Sliver gets me like no one else does. Obviously, he didn't tell me that, but I assume. Because I get Sliver like no one else does. I love you, Sliver.

I need to move out, and living is expensive. Work is tiring but we all have to work. I get over myself somehow. Sticking it to the man is cool, I'm totally with it. The man unfortunately runs the world though. How do I get away from "the man"? I need to work to live.

So here I am, Sunday morning. 11925 ~1-1:30 am. "Oh, you came in with the breeze On Sunday morning You sure have changed since yesterday Without any warning" No Doubt, "Sunday Morning"

Now, I yearn for my mother's hugs. I wish I could sleep in bed with her one last time. I wish she could tuck me in. I wish we didn't argue. I wish I didn't resent her. I miss my dad, I haven't seen him in well over a year. I yearn to scroll TikTok and forget that anything happens to me at all.
