Glen Grant 31 1984/2016 CA Single Cask (46,1 %)

I serien eldgamle smaksnotater som jeg av ulike årsaker ikke har fått lagt ut ennå, har vi nå kommet til en whisky jeg smakte i desember 2017 (!), en Glen Grant. Glen Grant, gammel sådan særlig, er jo ikke å forakte. Denne Cadenhead-tapningen, en enkeltfattapning, har attpåtil ligget på en sherrybutt, så dette lover godt. Den ble destillert i 1984 og tappet i 2016. 414 flasker.

På nesen fikk jeg vanilje, litt pasjonsfrukt, litt rabarbra, smørkaramell, litt kakaopulver, hasselnøtter, marsipan og et hint av appelsin. Smaksmessig fant jeg malt, litt karamell, vanilje, eiketre og sjokolade. Søt og fyldig. Avslutningen var lang, med sjokolade, malt, litt honning og trebitterhet. Halvtørr. Med litt vann kom det til litt aprikos på nesen, honning, epler, soyasaus og et ørlite ikke-irriterende hint av gummi. Smaken fikk tilført litt lakris nå, mer malt, toffee og honning. Avslutningen ble en anelse tørrere og kortere. Mer eple.

En svært bra Glen Grant, særlig nesen står fram som spesielt interessant her. Best uten vann, egentlig.
