Are all things that cross the mind of Jonathan Crane when interacting with others, friends, potential partners, even lowly thugs. He's experienced these things first hand, multiple times, and some of which caused carious childhood traumas (RE: Sherry Squires)

He has intense trust issues, and I honestly think the fandom glosses over this. He's always going to second guess his partnerships, because it's happened before and it'll happen again. It's happened with Penguin, Linda, Sherry, and others.

They are lying. They will betray him. They want to USE HIM

No, this won't be how it plays out in the sequel fic, I did it for laughs. C'mon guys, Snake wouldn't really do that to her.

But oh boy, is this new love interest of his going to be a game changer. I don't have a definitive plan yet, since the movie is still months away, but to the people who wanted Sherri to have a villain arc in the first fic? You might just get your wish...

my headcanon sketches/drawings of the Miyano family! (+ two terrible men who escaped my brain, just ignore them it'll be ok i promise) all are as depicted in my canon divergent fanfiction

going into this, i had the core goal of making both Akemi and Shiho not look too much like their mother, seeing as International Agent Shuichi Akai would fucking notice if the girl he's dating is visibly his own damn cousin. As such, my Akemi very heavily takes after her father; and even Shiho Sherry with her sharp nose and wider jaw is not so easy to recognise (and would've been even less so when Akai encountered her years ago, when she was a teenager).

Eleanora 'Elena' Serafim was quite estranged from her older sister Marianne 'Mary'. She spent most of her youth while in the UK trying to distance herself from the assertive and overreaching Mary; initially physically and with different hobbies/friend groups (in fact, El didn't have many friends compared to the very popular Mary), and later by chosen profession. Atsushi meanwhile came from underprivileged circumstances and only managed to get into higher education thanks to a sponsorship from everyone in his neighbourhood pitching together, which gave him to means to attain a scholarship co-funded between the Japanese government and a private corporation that was interested in supporting aspiring young scientists.

Atsushi and Eleanora met during their studies at Cambridge. Atsushi started with a BMed but switched to a MSc; while Eleanora was always pursuing a pure science path.

There is more to their story (between failed pregnancies and increasingly unfortunate work placements) but to expedite the report: by 1991 Elena 'Absinthe' Miyano was a Chief of Research & Development of the Black Organisation in Tokyo, and her husband Atsushi 'Madeira' Miyano her right hand, liason to the rest of the company, and in charge of the medical wing in particular. They had one daughter, an adopted science experiment, and a second child on the way.

In 1999 the two parents died in a terrible accident. The details cannot be disclosed without Black Label clearance or higher.

Akemi Miyano (27 in summer 2010) inherited a lot more of her father's features, while Shiho (18 in summer 2010) takes more after her mother's side. (This might loosely apply to their personalities too, oops,,,,)

In addition to the point i mentioned above (Akai has, like, eyes and a partway functioning brain) I also thought this character design choice might contrast thesen two very different sisters in some interesting ways. If you're a reader of my silly "little" (c 280k words at time of posting) fanfic, you can see that contrast especially in this chapter :3

In terms of timeline, I've shuffled a few things around. I won't get too into things that might count as potential spoilers for my fanfic premise (lmfao) but suffice to say we're getting plenty of time with Akemi in the story. (And after that, plenty of time without her, too. huhuhuh...)

reassuring words are comforting in a way that claire almost despises at the moment - brought together by tragedy over tragedy, their bond only strengthened due to the sharing of experiences from before they knew each other; there's something ironic in the way claire has lived nineteen years without being aware of leon's existence and yet here she is almost a decade later - if he were ripped away from her nothing would make sense anymore. who knew such a small thing as a plastic box and a few wires could create such a huge mess.

claire listens to his explanation, ever the curious soul taking pleasure in learning even when it comes to trivial things. her mind wonders for a moment how much of the good sea food would remain if one day the men in dark suits decided the river has to become a recipient for their umpteenth experiment - nose scrunching as grim thoughts are pushed away and yet claire can't shake off the feeling that not talking about it is basically the same as what wilson suggested her: silence in exchange for her plans to be approved. back then she had refused, and now she can't help but feel guilty about the fact that either way things are still going the way he wanted.

gaze drops on her hand between leon's palms, a gesture that's not out of the ordinary neither for the context they're in or their relationship in general - then why does it feel like she's betraying her own integrity. thumb brushes along his hand; they're definitely not going to talk about it and at this point she's getting so many signs, she should accept it and try to live with the guilt of keeping the secret. "alright, after dinner." she agrees with a nod, though the disappointment on her features doesn't need any explanation.

"heard from sherry lately?" she asks then, hand pulled back so she can reach for her blazer and take it off, because god knows how it would get stained the moment food is set on the table otherwise. "i sent her a letter but i never received an answer, so i guess she never got it in the first place."

Steely blue hues lift from the menu to meet Claire's gaze. Almost surprised to see she was already staring him down. Then her words strike him hard. Like a punch in the gut that left his gasping for air. Brows knitted and expression twitched into something best described as SHAME. Leon rips his eyes off her as they drop to the table in silence. Suddenly, her being pissed at him sounded much more inviting in that moment. The air between them started to thicken. It was almost suffocating.

Voice was far softer then it had been this entire afternoon. Drawing his sights back up from the table land on the younger Redfield again. Eyes meeting for but a moment before she turned her attention to the menu. Leon merely watched. Comforted by the thought his dearest friend still needed him after all. Even if she was less than pleased with him and his course of action. Leon didn't have to admit how much he needed her. It was evident from the beginning. The late night calls, the company they shared, the beds they shared. The agent very much needed her. She grounded him like nothing else could in a storm of his own thoughts. "... And I'll always be there for you."

Right. Ordering. Throat is cleared as he nods idly at her choice. "It's good. Their sea food is good. Fresh since the river, uh... connects into the bay." Expression falters at Claire's comment. Nearly defeated. He shouldn't be shocked, she was just as busy as he was. "Yeah. You got a lot of work ahead of yourself." Absently a larger hand reaches out to catch the woman's hand as she pushed her menu aside. He cradles it softly between both his palms then, squeezing gently. The agent leaned in, voice lowering as he peered into her bright blue hues. "Claire, I promise you, we'll talk. After dinner. Just... we can't do it here."
