Currently on a small Tumblr break but I can't get this out of my head...
I just watched the BBC Sherlock special The Abominable Bride again because it's back on PBS and I have this idea.
What if what's in Sherlock's slipper is not his solution but instead is an relief or a cure because Sherlock is...wait for it...a vampire. I know, I'm so sorry but wait!!
What if his and Irene Adler's deal is that she likes kinks and one of them being bitten. She lets him be himself. He doesn't have to hide it with her because she enjoys it. She's aloof and doesn't want to be tied down (relationship wise because the BBC Irene most certainly does indeed want to be tied down) so he has found getting high or perhaps the solution he takes nulls the drive to need or want blood.
Ok, that's it, I feel better. If anyone ever sees this and gives something a go, please tag me because I'd love to read it 🦇🖤

Just learned about the existence of this poem written by Vincent Starrett in 1942. I'm always so happy when I can learn more about the Sherlockian fandom and discover more of Sherlockiana.

1895 followers. This number seems somehow significant. The final follower count has been reached finally. This means this social experiment is now concluded. To keep this follower count, the blog shall be archived.

Holmes x Wilde pastiche
I have been wanting to write this up. Since I had a Wilde related class, I looked into him and his connection to Doyle and Holmes. So I found several pastiches that deal with Wilde. I'll make another post about the other pastiches that I found.
I read Study in Scarlet Marquis: Sherlock Holmes and the Trials of Oscar Wilde and it was one of my favourite reads this year.
Tumblr media
Read the book a few weeks ago, needed some time to pour my adoration into words for the book. Long story short: Mary Pagones REALLY knows Holmes, Watson and Wilde.
I think I am part of the target demographic. I'm a lit student obsessed with queer and Victorian literature, have studied both Wilde and Holmes. So I am always a bit wary of literary works that deal with these, I think I'm a bit picky when it comes to these, the pickiness coming from a place of love.
All in all: read it!!! Here's the link to get it.
And then I found this book from an author I've never heard of, who had written horse books (?) and they pulled it off. With the delicate portrayal of Holmes and Watson's relationship, with Wilde and Bosie's character, with little nods to the knowing audience. It was amazing.

Me: God. I love OFMD I really do, but I keep on making the same type of long-form AU. Always horror adjacent where Izzy has to learn a lesson.
Hey other media obsessions, anything we can do with that?
Baldur's Gate 3(/DND):
Sure!! SteddyHands. Izzy is a Shar or Talos cleric(a magic user who gets their power from the god Darkness[they're just giant pessimists] or Storms[destruction to 'cleanse' and make new]). Stede is a Ranger/Druid/Cleric. Ed was a storm sorcerer. Crew is mostly fighters, only Lucius is a wizard, and Frenchie is a bard. Post Ed running away, Izzy gives up his memories as a service to his God, as he thinks there's no hope.
Ed has ACTUALLY ascended to become a demi-god/high-ranking follower. (Think of Gods as titles- a powerful magic user can take up an old God's portfolio if the old god wanted to quit). Izzy wakes up surrounded by the crew and Stede without his memory of everyone, but he trusts the crew. The crew and Stede hunt to help Izzy remember why he gave up his memories and ascend in his church(he felt betrayed by Ed abandoning their God for Stede).
Meanwhile. They are all on the run, as people think Ed(a high-ranking, well known, magic-user even before becoming a justiciar) was murdered by Stede and his 'gang'. In the end, it turns out Izzy has been praying to Ed, his new god, this whole time. Ed knows every confession Izzy has prayed of but feels he's responsible for Izzy giving up. It's sad. This should be easy to write for people who don't read/play BG3. BUT. It is the lamest thing you have ever thought of. ESPECIALLY if you add any Dragon Age ideas to this shit.
Elden Ring: Same Vibe, Izzy is a trawl/follower under a more powerful being-Ed. This is fun since Con literally voiced Mohg. Make Ed a creature wanting to ascend the thrown, but Izzy is his protector. This one has more blood and 'attack dog' vibes before Stede comes along, a spellcaster who shows Ed a peaceful life in the lands between. Can have religious or military undertones.
Disco Elysium: I would tell you. But you don't want to know. Think about it. Think about this game UNIVERSE. Drug addiction, all forms of abuse, pessimism, otherworldly gods, etc. You would be sad writing this. It would be fun. Finding hope in a hopeless situation. But really?
(Canon Era)Sherlock Holmes: No??? The fuck?

A spoiler free review of Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened 2023 from the perspective of a Holmesian gamer.
No secret that Frogware’s Holmes has been one of my favorite incarnations ever, even as they change him up from time to time. This game got its hooks (er… tentacles) into me and I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it since. Finished it on launch day in about 10 hours and then went back for achievements. I still need to max out the bonuses and do a full replay on hard mode (I’ll be posting that one in full).
In short: awesome game.

I think I found the answer to the sequence of numbers which seems to stick in your mind.
The answer lies in the poem by one Vincent Starrett, aptly named '221b', where in particular the last two lines hold interest:
"Here, though the world explode, these two survive,
And it is always eighteen ninety-five."
A poem called 221B? That seems rather significant, and could most likely relate to us. Why did this man write a poem about us?
Although what he writes is correct, the world did explode around us (or more accurately our flat) but we survived. However, it's not always 1895, it's 2023 right now. But why should it always be 1895? How far is this year significant? Well x-rays were discovered by Wilhelm Röntgen in 1895. In 1895 the trials of Oscar Wilde occured, and he was imprisoned because of his homosexuality.
