hi… i cannot for the life of me find this fanfiction. but katniss leaves peeta when he proposes, then moves to LA. he follows her there six months later but sees her walking home with Cinna in the middle of the night and thinks she’s moved on. After a year without him, she realizes she loves him, and calls him and messages him for 3-4 years until she has to come home for Prim’s wedding, and she sits next to this weird girl on the plane ride home, but sees that Peeta is at the airport to pick up that girl (Glimmer), bc that’s his new gf. It’s also Christmas time. And Katniss sort of sneaks into the bakery after hours to steal Peeta’s old paint so she can teach her mom to paint. And her mom knits or crochets something like a very long scarf the whole fic, saying it’s a table runner. And then Katniss decides to move back to town to take care of their mom so Prim can move out. She and Peeta make up after Glimmer breaks up with him. I remember at one point they were drinking beers in Finnick’s basement or something, and Prim walked in saying that Katniss was going to move back home, and Peeta was like “Is that true?” or whatever. And things started piecing back together from there.
Hi,
The story you're looking for is "Hello" by Peetabreadgirl.
Enjoy :)

Of course, I understand that The Caves of Sac Actun revealed that Captain Barnacles is claustrophobic.
But you have to admit that character itself is not fully revealed, Barney has some facts that can and should be explained.
1. Throughout the series, Captain Barnacles is shown as a strong leader who fears nothing. But in the film, we are shown that he is also afraid of something, but Barney himself hides it from Peso until the middle of the film.
2. In Above and Beyond, when Barney tried to make the hyenas laugh with Admiral Sweaty Sock, if you look at his face, it seems like he's ashamed to do it.
3. In Enemy Anemones when Barney and Kwazii are attacked by a pudding and Shelly apologizes to them, Barney asks "What?!" in an angry tone, then calms down abruptly.
4. In Manatees, Instead of calling for help, Barney tries to get out of the huge clam himself, while continuing to give commands as if everything is fine, even though it was not only the manatees that could have died that day.
5. In Above and Beyond/The Bamboo Rescue, In the beginning, when Barnacles asks Tweak and Peso if they need help, and they say no, he gets upset.
In fact, these are not all the facts that I found, but I think it is enough to give you and me pause. If you have any interesting facts that you have noticed about the Captain or possible theories about him, then write in the comments.

Scrap Management
With all of the socks and sock weight things I've knit throughout the last year, I'm starting to collect a fair bit of yarn scraps that are too big to toss but too small to do much with. To manage my collection of tiny balls of yarn, I've started a scrapghan!
Tumblr media
This will likely take a very long time to finish, and lots more sock knitting to give me the yarn scraps I need for it, but so far I really like it. I'm using the video tutorial from Purl Together, who in turn based hers off of the written tutorial by Shelly Kang. I'm not sure if I'll add any sort of border (Shelly used an i-cord bind off around the whole edge of her blanket) but I do have a while yet to decide!
Let me know if you want any additional details about this blanket, and feel free to share what your favorite scrao management projects are!

Heyy boo, do you have a book that is not star wars related that you wish you could read for the first time or reread all the time?
I am searching for books recommendations and I am pretty open about every genre, maybe not horror but everything else is totally fine.
My number one book recommendation that I will always obnoxiously shove in everyone’s faces is Lord of the Rings. It is my heart and soul and favorite thing in the world and if you’ve never read the trilogy I highly recommend it. But I also have quite a few other recs!
Anything written by Andy Weir. “The Martian” is his best known work, which they made the Matt Damon movie of,and while I do love it “Project Hail Mary” is my favorite of his and one of my favorite sci-fi books of all time.
I loved “To Sleep in a Sea of Stars” which was Christopher Paolini’s sci-fi debut a couple years ago but he just came out with its prequel “Fractal Noise” and I liked it even more.
For some good old fashioned space opera brilliance I recommend the “Final Architecture” trilogy by Adrian Tchaikovsky. The last book of the series just came out and I DEVOURED it. Tchaikovsky’s Children of Time,Ruin, and Memory are also phenomenal, you really just can’t go wrong with him.
For more space opera and politics I highly recommend Arkady Martine, she DEBUTED with “Memory Called Empire” which won all sorts of awards. The sequel also recently came out but I haven’t gotten the chance to read it.
I’m in the middle of reading Pierce Brown’s “Red Rising” saga, which I would describe as adult Hunger Games, and have thoroughly enjoying it as well!
For fantasy I love Samantha Shannon’s “Priory of the Orange Tree” and “A Day of Fallen Night”. You’ll get varying opinions of what to read first,I read Priory when it first came out so that’s my biased opinion.
I’m a massive fan of “She Who Became the Sun” by Shelly Parker-Chan and their sequel “He Who Drowned the World” and I want it to go on record I read SWBS when it first came out and before it blew up *flips hair*
R.J. Barker’s “Tide Child” trilogy is awesome, first book of that series is “The Bone Ships.” It’s high seas fantasy with dragon bone ships and epic war and amazing world building.
I always highly recommend “Gideon the Ninth” by Tamsyn Muir and now also the rest of the books in the series. I think the usual pitch is lesbian necromancers in space.
I cannot cannot recommend “The Shadow of the Gods” by John Gwynne enough! It’s quintessential epic fantasy told as a Norse epic and it’s in my top five of modern fantasy books.
While I have serious beef with Song of Achilles just like our fellow obikin Will,I did love and devour Madeline Miller’s “Circe.” In every way I think it’s her superior work.
I can’t recommend fantasy without recommending “The Grace of Kings” by Ken Liu. His entire series will blow your socks off,but the first book won nearly every award for fantasy books that have ever existed.
I’m a huge fan of R.F Kuang’s “The Poppy War” series although I’ve heard this one is a contentious recommendation. I think this series is hate or love it but if for whatever reason you don’t vibe with this series I also highly recommend Kuang’s “Babel.”
If you want something a little less well known I could chew through drywall over Simon Jimenez’s “The Spear Cuts Through Water.” It was in my top five of 2023 release books.
I can also make a separate rec list of less new books and overall classics I always recommend or gift to people, both fiction and nonfiction!

dialogue is from the movie un homme qui dort, narrated in english by thee shelly duvall. I changed a few lines, bc they wouldn't fit him other wise. cw: if u squint you can see the dissociation mentions. character/kakucho centric piece
You stay in your room, not eating, not reading, hardly moving.
It's been eight days since the horrific battle between tenjiku and toman, kakucho hasn't moved since he got discharged from the hospital, currently lying on the floor watching the ceiling fan spin slowly with the breeze of his open window.
You watch the basin, the bookcase, your knees, your eyes in the cracked mirror. The cup. The light switch.
His eyes slowly drag around his small 'apartment' room until they catch on the small sink. The one that he would use after every major fight, cleaning his worse wounds and injuries.
They catch on the book case, filled with books he enjoyed and ones he traded with Izana, littered with little annotations and highlights. Scattered sheet music with small notes of wear and tear. Records and cd's he had collected over time.
His heterochromic eyes catch on his knees that wobble every so often, threatening to fall or slide down from their bent position as if he were doing sit-ups. The cracked mirror that sits above his sink, the one that you can barely call a sink, the mirror that has taken his rage and now seems to be staring back at him. One red eye and one ashen. Is he sure they belong to him?
The cup that was filled with tea, how old is it? Ran got him this for his birthday, he should probably drink that tea, lest it gets dusty or stale, alas it's already cold. right? The light switch he never uses; getting up at the crack of dawn to work out, spending most of the day with the gang, coming back when he's had his fill of sociability, ready to eat and lie down.
You listen to street sounds, to the dripping faucet on the landing, to the noises your neighbor makes, having a coughing fit, his kettle whistling.
The later in the day it gets he hears the noise increase in volume, cars trying to get home, kids getting off school, sirens, doors opening and closing, cats, life goes on. life goes on and all he can do is observe in his state.
You follow on the ceiling the winding line of a thin crack. A flies pointless wandering. The perhaps calculate progression of shadows.
Kakucho's drowsy lidded eyes follow the small crack on his wall, leading from the door frame to the ceiling, a mere 15 centimeters. His brain finding anything and everything else to focus on. The fly that wanders in, making a few circles in his room before buzzing away.
You are 14 years old. You have 32 teeth, 3 shirts and 8 socks. 77,000 yen a month to survive on. A few books you no longer read, a few records you no longer listen to. You don't want to remember anything else. You sit, and all you want is to wait. Just wait until there is nothing more to wait for.
He feels dissociated from himself, his beloved hobbies now seem distant and unattractive. Why does everything remind him of Izana? The music that sits, collecting dust on his shelf. The shirts they bought together, although a measly errand, he treasured moments like those.
You don't see your friends. You don't answer the door. You don't go down and get your mail. You don't return the books you borrowed from the library. You don't visit your parents.
He disregards the hundreds of missed calls from his friends. He ignores the knocks that come and slowly fade away when he fails to answer the door. He sees the envelopes that get stuck in the mail slot. He knows his books are overdue, the pile mocking him near the door. He misses visiting his parents. He misses living.

Is it too early for this? Probably, but let’s be honest here, who’s gonna be on Tumblr during Christmas? (I am).
To support the (upcoming) holiday cheer, what do the cast do for Christmas? Who bakes cookies (I want a cookie? Who goes makes snow angels and snow men? Who stays up late to see if Santa comes rolling down the chimney?
Tumblr media
Ho ho ho! It's Christmas time at the abyss 🎅
Death, true to their nature, is quietly reflective during Christmas. You'll find them in a cozy corner, a little tipsy from the eggnog, crafting delicate origami ornaments to hang on the bar's Christmas tree. They gift you with hand-knitted socks adorned with delicate moth patterns.
Lilith/Damien prefers to lounge by the fireplace, a drink in hand, watching the festivities with an amused smirk. After a few drinks, they challenge Peisinoe to a raucous singing competition. For you, they've procured a mesmerizing necklace, its jewel containing eternal flames from hell's depths.
Morgan/Morgana, in a display of whimsical magic, animates a group of snowmen to perform a dance outside the bar as their gift for you. Pepper, dry as ever, comments, "I bet they'll stage a rebellion by night's end."
Peisinoe, ever the star of the show, dazzles everyone with a captivating rendition of "Santa Baby." Their gift to you is an antique record player. Quickly, she finds herself a reclusive spot and sits beside Death, and they both converse through the night, getting drunk on eggnog together.
Shelly is the embodiment of the Christmas spirit. Her infectious enthusiasm has her stringing up lights, hanging mistletoe, and ensuring everyone's glasses are never empty. She's the first to initiate a Christmas sing-along, her voice filled with joy and merriment. Her gift for you is a selection of fine chocolates, each piece a delightful burst of flavor.
Hastur quietly ensures the bar is safe and secure for the festive celebrations. He also takes on the chef role, preparing a feast for everyone. His gift to you is a small, exquisitely crafted golden knife. For tonight, he wears a knitted red sweater and a Christmas hat that Shelly gifted him - one he only wears to see the girl smile.
The Raven can't resist the temptation to perch atop the Christmas tree, declaring triumphantly, "Look, I'm a star!". Their gift for you, of course, is a shiny coin they found. "Don't tell Peisinoe you have it," he whispers in a conspiratorial tone.
Yaga, initially a bit grumpy and earning the title of "afterlife's Grinch" from the Raven, eventually warms up to the festivities. In her practical manner, she gifts you a new, efficient cashier for the bar, always thinking about the bottom line.
He Without Name participates in his own cryptic way, rearranging the decorations in the dead of night, turning the bar into a mysterious winter wonderland by morning. "Merry..." he says while you watch him cleaning the leftover puddles the witch's snowmen left in their wake.

SHELLY: I had an egg once. Not to eat. To, you know, grow. My Aunt Marge gave it to me. She said if I kept it warm, it would hatch. My dad said Marge was a wacko. It was just a plain old supermarket egg. But I believed her. At night, I kept it nice and cozy under a lamp. And during the daytime, I carried it around in a sock under my sweater.
LEONARD: What happened?
SHELLY: Nothing Zippo. After six months, my dad said he didn't want a rotten egg in the house… ‘cause it might break and stink up the place. But... I couldn't just dump it in the trash. I had to see what was inside, you know. So I cracked it open. Inside there was this little bitty chick. He'd been dead a long time. I mean a long, long time. I was real bummed. But, at least, my Aunt Marge wasn't crazy.
LEONARD: That's a very interesting story.
