My Veilguard review:
Note - I will be honest in saying this is very long and very negative. If you enjoy this game please don't let me be the one to ruin that for you and skip on this post. I will be discussing spoilers. This is just my opinion so please don't crucify me for it.
I think my thoughts about this game were shaky to begin with as I had been exposed to different spoilers and information before the launch. I wasnā€™t actually expecting this game to be amazing but as someone whose favorite Dragon Age game is Dragon Age 2, which is arguably the weakest in the series (until now), I still went in with the impression I would have a good time regardless. I did not have that at all, in fact towards the end of Act 2 and the beginning of Act 3 all I wanted was for the game to be over.Ā
The problems for me really started right in the beginning with the Inquisitor character choices and their characterization. No choices for your Warden, no choices for your Hawke, and only three choices for your Inquisitor out of the dozens you made in Inquisition. The romance option just felt like a very polite way of asking if you romanced Solas or not, especially after completing the game where your non-solas romance will only get one letter for you to read, outside of that, the Inquisitor will not even mention them. Disbanding the Inquisition meant basically nothing and vowing to stop Solas felt like it had little bearing on what my Inquisitor said when she showed up.Ā
The time frame to make Dragon Age 2 was just over a year and somehow included more choices from Origins than Veilguard did with over ten years of production. That is the information that's been banging around in my head throughout this entire game. In Dragon Age 2, we get the consequences of our decisions with Alistairā€™s fate and we get extra dialogue concerning Isabela/Zevran/Leliana/Anders/Nathaniel + some sidequests. Veilguard couldnā€™t even give us so much of a mention of our Inquisitorā€™s friendships and the consequences of those friendships outside of Solas. The Inquisitors themselves are locked into one personality type as well, and regardless if you choose to stop Solas or not, they are very amicable toward him.Ā
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
During the second cut scene you get with the Inquisitor in Dock Town, they will go on to ask you about your progress and then go on about Solas. Mind you, my Inquisitor is extremely unsympathetic to Solas and I chose the option to stop him no matter what, so why is it that every time I speak to her, she keeps trying to ask me if Solas is being genuine and that he was her friend? That doesnā€™t sound like someone who has vowed to stop him. They will also try to draw parallels between you, Rook, and Solas. Even at the end of the game, they will still try to appeal to you to see reason with him. That is essentially all the Inquisitor is there for. Incredibly frustrating.Ā
Tumblr media
Throughout the game you will get missives from the Inquisitor detailing the devastation that is being brought to southern Thedas and every letter feels like more and more of an insult. To keep it short: Southern Thedas as we know it has been essentially wiped out. I think that deserves more than a footnote in some missive most players arenā€™t even going to see.
So the setting we spent all three games in, that we saved countless times, had our companions and protagonists die for, gets demolished in the background where we cannot see it. Skyhold had to be taken back from demons and whoops, that's not actually something you can do anything about. Nothing the Warden, Hawke, or the Inquisitor ever did mattered at all and it renders everything from the previous games absolutely irrelevant.Ā
With that aside, the companions are also another issue for me. I found myself having trouble getting attached to any of them and every single time I recruited one I had the internal question ā€œWhy are you even here?ā€ None of their companion quests really tie into the story at large, save maybe Harding and Davrin, and they are incredibly boring save for a few cool moments.
The main appeal of Dragon Age for me is the companions, itā€™s why Dragon Age 2 is my favorite of the series. Despite the overused environments and the rushed production I still had a great time with it because of the companions. I was actually eager to do the companion quests and learn more about them and how they all fit into the main narrative. Even characters I didnā€™t like, I still understood why they were important to the story. Like I canā€™t stand Anders but I know why he is there, he has a purpose.
Every companion is painfully amicable towards you even if you decide to be ā€œsternā€ towards them. I found myself not caring what dialogue option I chose about them because it made absolutely no difference. There is nice, funny nice, and gentle parenting. That is really all you have to work with in terms of the dialogue wheel. It was more difficult to get disapproval than approval and I can probably count on my fingers every time in this game I actually got companion disapproval. There is only one companion in my playthrough that became hardened, Lucanis, and it had virtually no impact on his character other than the fact he leaves for a couple of saves and comes back to kissing your ass.Ā
Something I actually really liked about BG3 and the previous Dragon Age games was working for your companion approval - this meant actually learning about your companion and what made them tick. If you don't understand them well enough you get disapproval, when you actually listen to their ideas and thoughts you get approval - there is an active effort to get these things. In Veilguard this does not exist and you are essentially promised approval no matter what, meaning there is no encouragement to know who these people are if they're just going to support you regardless.
I have to agree with the Skillup review they made about this game saying that every dialogue option feels like it was made with HR in the room and I one hundred percent agree. This is not how real people talk to each other. This is how teachers talk to toddlers when they want to explain the virtues of sharing toys with their classmates.
It felt honestly insulting at times to be treated like I donā€™t understand the concept of bigotry, I still have no idea what they were trying to go for with this, like were they trying to appeal to a market of high school boys who hadnā€™t discovered what empathy was yet? There is zero trust in the player and every dialogue and decision you make in these moments feels handhold-y and preachy.Ā Like Pixar levels of life lessons you learn.
In the moments where I had to settle arguments over coffee and companions not respecting each other's interests, I could not honestly believe this is the same universe with Loghain Mac Tir, Meredith Stannard, fuck even Corypheus. Humor has always existed in Dragon Age and I love the comedic banter between the characters but it was always humor that served as an escape from the oppressive and dark situation around you, here the dark and oppressive situations feel like an escape from the unrelenting friendliness and tone deafness of your companions.Ā
The companion I probably had the most issue with was Taash and the way they were handled. Iā€™m not going to get too deep into the Bharv scene because even thinking about it makes me cringe but If someone messed up my pronouns and then immediately dropped to do pushups I am most definitely killing us both. Isabelaā€™s explanation is extremely preachy and she proceeds to do the exact thing she says she hates about people messing up pronouns. Anyways. Moving on.Ā
Taash I think is a good example of how to not write a multiethnic character. I donā€™t expect a white person like Trick Weekes to understand the first thing that comes with being multiethnic or having strict parents that intersects with that identity but it is most definitely not whatever the hell this is.Ā
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The only thing I can offer here is that as a multiethnic person (my father is Palestinian and my mother is mainly Irish and Seminole) is that there has never been a point in my life where I felt like I had to choose what culture I am let alone give that choice to someone else in my life I just met.
Thatā€™s not what being multiethnic is. I do not have to choose between anything - I am whole and I don't need to cut myself into halves and quarters to be accepted.
It also feels subconsciously like you are supposed to choose Rivain as the Qunari are depicted as bigoted and oppressive as they always have been in this game. Knowing all of this really tainted my experiences with them as a character and I understand a lot of other non-binary individuals love the representation they brought on that level but personally, Iā€™m just tired of ā€œqueer representationā€ always coming with racist undertones. Again, this game feels like it always had white queer people in mind, not lgbt poc.Ā
These kinds of comments are really only made worse knowing what the Qunari take inspiration from - primarily Black and Brown SWANA Muslims. Why should Trick Weekes have any authority over a questline like that is beyond me.Ā
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also, this sucked. Especially because they said it to Neve too. I donā€™t really want my non-binary representation sprinkled with Misogyny as well, especially since we canā€™t really call Taash out on this comment unless youā€™re playing a woman (as far as I know).
Aside from Taash, I thought the writing around Harding was strange. Donā€™t me wrong, I love Harding, but I do not remember her being this friendly and people-pleasing in the Inquisition. If you play as a Dalish elf the first thing she says is sheā€™s surprised that you would care about anyone else - there is absolutely no inclination of this kind of perspective in Veilguard. Additionally, despite knowing everything Solas has done and the consequences that had on her ancestors, she still tries to push you to reason with him?
All of her quests about learning about the Titans, experiencing and embracing their anger, and you still want to appeal to Solas? That was another thing I found so weird about this game, throughout the entire story you are being told again and again that Solas cannot be trusted, he is to blame for everything, and will stab you in the back and yet it seems like every companion tries to push back on you if you agree with this viewpoint?Ā
Also, something I didn't know at this point of the game but I do now is that Solas had killed Varric and she does know this so why is she acting like this knowing Solas had killed her friend who she spent years with?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Genuinely this whole game felt like: Devs: Solas is a villain
Rook: okay understood
Devs: actually nvm you don't understand him if you think he's a villain
The only companion quests I was actually genuinely interested in were Emmrich and his thoughts around death and becoming a lich. Lucanis' quests had the best boss fights for sure. Outside of that, it felt like ā€œGo here with Bellaraā€ or ā€œGo here with Taashā€ and it got so grating I couldnā€™t wait for these quests to be over so I could progress with the main story. It felt like an annoying back-and-forth game to finish a main quest just to finish all the companion quests and then go back to the main quest. Like a list of chores to get through before you can have any fun.Ā
The inclusion of characters like Morrigan and Isabela in this universe was extremely hollow and they do not feel like the Morrigan and Isabela we know at all. With Morrigan there is a bit of an explanation to this with the essence of Mythal however she reiterates that it is still herself and it is only the memories of Mythal that remain inside of her.
In my canon playthroughs of Dragon Age, I romanced both Morrigan and Isabela, so I was curious to see how the developers would address their pasts with our Warden and Hawke. Unfortunately, the answer is that they donā€™t address it at all. Morrigan hardly mentions her past, leaving us to wonder if Kieran even exists. The game implies that the relationship between Morrigan and the Warden is insignificant; a codex entry oddly suggests, in a very slut-shamey way, that Morrigan had more lovers than there are trees in the forest. Isabela doesn't reference Hawke either, as she fondly remembers Kirkwall for found family and friendship. It seems that if you romanced Isabela or Morrigan, congratulationsā€”your canon doesnā€™t exist.
I will echo the statement others have made about all the cameos feeling like mascots because that is really what they are. There is no substance to any of them, Isabela only feels like she is there to be a supportive voice for Taash, Morrigan will only really talk about Solas and Mythal-Dorian is the only one who actually gets a substantial quest related to him. I thought he was fine minus the "illegal slavery" bit because what is illegal slavery Dorian. Next up we will discuss legal murder.
Another thing that genuinely broke the immersion for me in this game is how awful the armor is. It is a Dragon Age game so I wasn't expecting Haute Couture but the design is all over the place and nothing looks right. Not to mention the extremely weird orientalist undertones that follow the Lords of Fortune everywhere. The outfit Isabela is wearing is even worse in person and I tried to give this game the benefit of the doubt by thinking we would be getting some underwater mission with her and that would be the explanation behind her bikini outfit - this did not happen.
Tumblr media
The belly dancer-esque outfits with the coin-bedazzled turbans were pretty egregious and made me want to limit my time in Rivain as much as possible. For a game released in 2024, I am disappointed we are still dealing with the same Orientalist fantasy tropes. Even the Qunari are more naked in this game than I had ever seen previously. At least DA2 and DAI gave them pants. But hey the Antaam are all blighted and evil so who cares right.
Speaking of the Antaam, a lot of the antagonist motivations for this game genuinely did not make sense to me. The Antaam are suddenly giving up their fear of magic to pair up with...the Venatori? To fight for the elven gods? It honestly felt like they had no idea who to make fight for the Evanuris so they just pulled two of the baddies from the Inquisition and went "We can just use them and call it done". When you press for information on why this is the answer is always a mustache-twirling dialogue about power. Nothing much deeper from that than any of the villains besides Solas. All of the villains, especially Elgar'nan and Ghilan'nain, are extremely one-dimensional and have no motivations other than being evil and striving for power. At least Corypheus had cool lines.
I'm not going to get too deep into lore changes since I know a lot of things happened in the comics, books, and TV show (all of which I did not read or watch) but I honestly do think it's a bad idea to have a "soft reboot" while needing to read several books to understand everything. That's not being welcoming to new players that's homework. If you wanted a soft reboot probably don't start off with half your plot and characters coming from various comics and novels people need to catch up on.
The portrayal of the Dalish in this game is inconsistent. When we inform them that their gods are evil and planning to overthrow the world, they respond, "Okay, heard you." How can they accept this explanation so readily? In previous interactions, Solas shared that the Dalish did not listen to him and even threatened him when he revealed this truth. Yet, when we present the same information, they believe us almost immediately. Is there no pushback or skepticism? The Dalish accept everything about the evil elven gods meanwhile Andrasteā€™s followers remain completely unaffected by these revelations.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think what frustrated me even more was watching our elven companions express grief and regret over the actions of the elven gods like they had something to do with it, painting the Dalish as adjacent to oppressors when they themselves are oppressed in every way. The only thing that remains consistent is the sad boy Solas act about it.
At the end of the game, two of my companions - Harding and Emmrich- were killed. Emmrich's death was unfortunately overshadowed by a zoom-in on a rock and I had no idea he had died until I got the popup. Still, all I can think about is just going "Rock moment" when he died. I don't really have anything negative to say about Harding's death other than the way she went out was fitting for her narrative. Bellara got blighted and there were no consequences for this and she walked away from it - forgive me but I am still under the DAO impression that if you get blighted that's game over but all the rules about the Blight have been changed in this.
I decided to trick Solas, and honestly, I donā€™t have anything negative to say about it, except that Solas should have noticed me holding the fake dagger since it was clearly in his line of sight. I liked the idea of outsmarting the god of trickery. While it wasnā€™t extremely satisfying, but Iā€™m okay with how it turned out.
Even as the credits began rolling I still have trouble believing rook's role in any of this. Just the persistent nagging idea that they really just have no place in this story at all. In the beginning I wanted to see how Rook is looped into all of this and how they become central to the fight against Solas but just like with most of the companions, I have no idea why they are here. This should've been the Inquisitor's story to finish.
I'm not going to pretend that everything about this game was irredeemable and terrible. There were genuinely parts I enjoyed and had a good time with. The romance ending scene with Neve was fantastic, even though it took a long time to get there. Davrin was an unexpected aspect of the game that I actually liked, as I never cared much for Grey Wardens before, but he changed my perspective. Harding's mention of the Inquisition was also very sweet. Although I wasn't particularly invested in Emmrich, I loved the conclusion to his quest when he became a lich lord.
While I'm not the biggest Solas fan, I actually really enjoyed the cutscenes between him and Rook because one of my aims with this game was the ability to be mean to Solas and kick him while he was down. They definitely delivered there even though everyone else kept disagreeing with me.
The worlds are beautiful and the CC is definitely the best we've gotten in any Dragon Age game, I spent probably a solid hour in there. The hairstyles are great and the four unibrow choices? Bioware you shouldn't have <3.
Overall I definitely didn't have the best time with this game and towards the end of act 2 I was incredibly bored and the combat became repetitive and stagnant enough that I turned down the difficulty to get through it faster. I can't see myself replaying this any time soon and I am unsure what my stance on Dragon Age is now, do I Ignore this game ever existed or do I carve out everything I liked and pretend this is the Dragon Age I love? I have no idea, I am disappointed at how this game leaves us off and I really wanted to sit here and say It's good but I can't.
I think this game will reach out to and resonate with a different group of Dragon Age fans than me, I just wish I could enjoy it as much as I see other people doing. I was originally going to give this game a 3/10 but knowing you can pet the cats I will give it a very generous 3.5/10.

I actually started watching 9-1-1 around the time Buck become canonically queer.
One of my online friends one day randomly texted me if I have watched the latest 9-1-1 episode - to which I replied no - she told me to watch the show because it's so good, and even I was looking for a new show to get hyperfixated on to get out of some previous hyperfixation.
I fell in love with the show since I started bawling my eyes out on that baby in the drain pipe emergency - the adrenaline rush of it made me stay and helped with my little depression phase in some ways.
Then I started falling in love with the characters, the style of writing, the chemistry in their found family, everything - became totally hyperfixated.
Saw Eddie Diaz in Season 2 and šŸ„µšŸ”„ - found a new fictional crush and celebrity crush.
I fell in love with the relationships - Bathena, Madney, Henren - they looked so mature and healthy couples compared to more angsty overlty dramatic relationships in fiction that get written for audience viewership and not for the actual story.
And while looking up a YouTube clip of the bar flashback with Bobby, Chimney, Hen and Tommy because I found it funny how Chimney said he has no scars knowing about the rebar storyline written for his character's future and in the comment section got spoiled about Bi! Buck and Tommy becoming his eventual boyfriend.
But that spoiler didn't bother me, in fact it made me more excited to keep watching because while binge-watching it all together, it wasn't hard to forget Tommy as a character compared to when I would have watched the show on air basis - so his arc felt much more organic rather than out of nowhere to me at least. I was excited to see yet another healthy and mature relationship with like dramas that were more realistic than just marketing bullshit.
Reached the first kiss between Buck and Tommy and holy shit - one of the best on screen kisses - like I remember ranting to my friend how I was literally kicking my feet (Buck's Bi! arc was why she texted me out of excitement and urged me to watch the show) because wow and then as the relationship grew I was so happy for both the characters and their relationship - for Buck to finally get an endgame he deserves - a healthy mature relationship that just felt realistic and organic.
And yes I have also had problems with the show over its course but I was able to overlook them given how fixated I got with the characters and their relationships and the whole found family dynamic of it all.
Today - I just, I don't remember ever being so disappointed in a show - maybe the Game of Thrones finale? Idk - like yes that was disappointing but the show ended so I didn't bother with it much. But like - this is just so not it - I don't remember being this devastated by a fictional break up - it literally feels like I had a break up. So much so that a part of me just wants to stop watching the show - but I also can't because I am still invested in where Eddie's arc is going and when and how they are bringing Christopher back.
Maybe I am being a bit melodramatic about this but honestly it feels like a full circle, an invisible string of sorts for me as well, as how Buck and Tommy's kiss was how the universe in its way encouraged me to watch the show and today its the very reason for the first time I felt like I want to stop watching the show and have nothing to do with it.
Funny how the universe works.

My theory on Sampo's true identity...
(Minor Spoilers for 2.4) (also, Iā€™m no expert inā€¦ anything, really, but these are just my ramblings).
So, this has probably been mentioned before, but I have a teeny-tiny theory about Sampoā€™s true identity, and it relates to Finnish mythology.
So, ā€œSampoā€ in and of itself doesnā€™t have a set meaning, but it has its roots in Finnish mythology, particularly the ā€œKalevalaā€ which is a 19th-century compilation of epic poetry. In it, a blacksmith god by the name of Seppo Ilmari(nen) forges the mythical device known as ā€œThe Sampoā€. Itā€™s never quite explained what The Sampo really is; some versions depict it as a mill, others as a cornucopia from which bountiful creations flow from, and some even have it as being a world tree/world pillar, so what The Sampo really is, isnā€™t entirely known. But, what is known, is that it brought riches and good fortune to its holder (again, the same as the cornucopia from Greek mythology).
But why am I mentioning all of this? Why bring up the Kalevala? It could be that Hoyo just chose the name ā€œSampoā€ for some flavourā€”befitting of a character who magics up relics from seemingly thin air and is trying to create richesā€”and yeah, itā€™s a possibilityā€¦
Until I saw these two screenshots from the 2.4 story:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You know what this means, right?Ā
Kalevala is a real planet in Hoyoā€™s Star Rail universe, and I find it awfully coincidental that they would use this name for a planet and not have it related to a certain blue haired conman, especially since The Sampo is such a pivotal element in the plot of the Kalevalaā€”there is no way this is a coincidence (I refuse to believe it).
This leads me to believe that Kalevala is Sampoā€™s real home world, and is where he originates from.
Now, this is all well and good, knowing where ā€œThe Sampoā€ hails from, but I want to focus on its creatorā€”Seppo Ilmari(nen)ā€”and his parallels to a certain blue haired conman. For one, Ilmari(nen)ā€™s name is quite interesting as the ā€˜Ilmaā€™ part is Finnish for ā€˜airā€™ or ā€˜weatherā€™, and as we know, Sampoā€™s element is that of ā€˜windā€™ (And also the fact that Ilmari(nen) is credited as ā€œGodlike smith-hero and creator of the skyā€. I could go into a whole spiel about Ilmari(nen) and Qlipoth swinging their giant hammers in tandem together for all eternity (Go Sampard! Geppie is Qlipoth's true heir, you can't convince me otherwise!), but thatā€™s for another conspiracy theory lol).
So, ā€˜Ilmaā€™ means ā€˜airā€™, and Sampo wields ā€˜windā€™.
Cool.
If the parallels ended there, Iā€™d just say I was being crazyā€¦ but thereā€™s more.
Sampoā€™s 4th (and arguably best) eidolon is called ā€œThe Deeper the Love, the Stronger the Hateā€. Two out of his six eidolons refer to 'love', whilst the other 4 are to do with wealth and riches. The wealth and richest aspect leans towards The Sampo of mythology, whilst the ā€˜loveā€™ aspect, wellā€¦
According to the story, Seppo Ilmari(nen) is the unluckiest bastard alive when it comes to love. Like, seriously. His whole storyline is that he canā€™t find a woman. For one, Seppo Ilmari(nen) is double crossed by his so called buddy, VƤinƤmƶinen, into creating The Sampo for the evil witch Louhi of Pohjola in exchange for her daughterā€™s hand in marriage (which, Ilmari didnā€™t even want in the beginning), but when the poor guy actually sees the daughter and falls in love with her (and subsequently creates the Sampoā€”after failing miserably a number of times, mind youā€”he creates a crossbow, a boat, a cow(wtf?) and a plough, all which are somehow either evil or flawed), she ups and just leaves him hanging! (in the original runes, however, he is successful in gaining a wife, as his ā€˜unlucky in loveā€™ spiel was later added by Lƶnnrot in compiling the Kalevala).
As with any mythology and re-telling of it, thereā€™s so many different versions of the same event. In ā€œThe Maiden of the Northā€, a 1898 opera written by Oskar Merikanto, both Ilmarinen and VƤinƤmƶinen compete for the chance to marry Louhiā€™s daughter, who is then mentioned as being ā€œIlmari(nen)ā€™s first wifeā€ and who later dies to Kullervoā€™s curse (apparently she was a bit of a bitch to Kullervo by taunting and tormenting the poor boyā€”who was a child slave mind you!). Distraught, Ilmari(nen) forges himself a wife of gold and silver, but he finds her to be too cold and callousā€”he forges her out of love but only finds hateā€”so he tries to gift her to VƤinƤmƶinen (who doesnā€™t want her either, lol), and suggests he cast her back into the furnace and to ā€œforge from her a thousand trinketsā€.
Hereā€™s the accompanying poem:
Never, youths, however wretched,
Nor in future, upgrown heroes,
Whether you have large possessions,
Or are poor in your possessions,
In the course of all your lifetime,
While the golden moon is shining,
May you woo a golden woman,
Or distress yourselves for silver,
For the gleam of gold is freezing,
Only frost is breathed by silver.
It is apparently your standard Aesopā€™s fable of ā€œmoney canā€™t buy happinessā€, which is something else I see in our dear old Sampo Koski. During our time in Belobog, we see how different he acts with the Underworld and Overworlders. To the poor, he actually seems approachable (albeit a bit of a nuisance), going so far as to help the Underworlders (an example being the questline ā€œSurvival Wisdomā€ in which he and Peak set up a business together renting out his tools to help the miners make a decent wage to support their families). In contrast, we actively see Sampo being very hostile towards the Overworlders, scamming them and putting the nobles in their place or setting them up to be caught by the Silvermane Guards (an example being during the museum questline where you discover his identity as ā€œMr Cold Feetā€. Sampo clearly states to who he thinks is his mark that ā€˜we are not friendsā€™ in a very hostile manner, something which weā€™ve not seen from Sampo before as he is usually quite amicable).Ā
For all Sampoā€™s showboating and flashing his money around, he helps where it counts. He wants to make money, sure, but not at the detriment of the people who need it the most, only to those with excess.
Anyway, back to him being unlucky in loveā€¦
In another rune entitled ā€œKosintaā€, Ilmari(nen) goes on a journey to compete for Hiisiā€™s daughter, and wins by completing various feats, one of them being ā€œploughing a field full of snakesā€:
Tumblr media
And as we know, Sampo is very heavy on the snake motifs (the head of the snake on his shoulders, the spine wrapped around him, the daggers are its fangsā€¦etc.)
So thatā€™s another interesting link between Seppo Ilmari(nen) and Sampo Koski.
So, why have I gone on this long winded tangent about Seppo Ilmari(nen) when Iā€™m supposed to be talking about Sampo Koski?
Well, thatā€™s because I think Sampo Koskiā€™s real name is (or a variant of) Ilmarinen.
In the Hoyo universe, I believe Ilmarinen came from the planet Kalevala and ā€˜createdā€™ the persona of Sampo Koski, much like how in the Kalevala, Seppo Ilmari(nen) forged The Sampo.
As Iā€™ve listed above, thereā€™s so many links between the two:
ā€œAirā€ as a name and ā€œWindā€ as an element.
Seppo Ilmari(nen) ploughed a field of snakes to win Hiisiā€™s daughterā€™s hand in marriage, whilst Sampo Koski relies heavily on snake motifs for his attire.
Sampoā€™s two eidolon names that relate to love (which are completely different from the other 4 eidolon names), whilst Seppo Ilmari(nen) is known to be unlucky in love.
Iā€™m pretty damn sure Sampo creates his own bombs and tinkers with the old relics to bring them back to life, whereas Seppo Ilmari(nen) is a smith who created the dome of the sky! Theyā€™re both artificers!
And now the revelation that a planet by the name of ā€œKalevalaā€ exists is no mere coincidence.
So, either Sampo is Ilmari(nen) - or! - Sampo is a puppet (like Herta) created by someone called Ilmari(nen).Ā
(I would love if his 5* version is him with this name).
Right, Iā€™m finished rambling. Gonna go huff some copium...

Beetlebabes Spoiler: Discussing THAT Ending Scene
At the end, Lydia wakes up from a nightmare of Astrid giving birth to Babyjuice only to find Beetlejuice in bed with her groggily saying, "I just had the strangest dream." before Lydia wakes up one final time, slowly looks over and sees no one there but there is a definite imprint on the pillow and sheets that Beetlejuice had definitely been lying down next to Lydia.
First of all, kudos to Tim for briefly getting Beej and Lydia into bed together. It was probably one of the most shocking parts of the movie for me. There's a couple of interesting things about this scene I thought was worth discussing.
First of all, it's cute that Beetlejuice sleeps with the covers all the way to his neck. Ghosts would probably be cold all the time so that makes sense. My headcanon is that sleeping next to Lydia not only gives Beej some warmth, but it's also the only way he gets a good night sleep.
Another interesting thing worth noting is the fact that they appear to have had the same dream.
"I just had the strangest dream."
I don't think it was a random dream. It had to be VERY strange in order for someone as weird as Beej to call it "strange". And I would say having a nightmare of his potential step daughter giving birth to a baby that looks like him definitely would be strange as hell.
Earlier in the film, Beetlejuice alluded to him and Lydia sharing a psychic connection. So it seems they're able to share dreams. Beetlejuice may have actually been the first to wake up and forced Lydia to wake up as well so that she wouldn't have to continue to experience such a nightmare.
Lydia may have said that she was ready to "start living life", but what we have to understand is that while Lydia's ghost show is over, Lydia will always carry the ability to see ghosts so "living" for her will never mean leading a normal life, which Beetlejuice is taking full advantage of.
Beej couldn't marry Lydia but still became the "man of her dreams" in a sense. lol We don't know how much time passed/how much space Beetlejuice gave Lydia before he started haunting her again, but it's clear that he'll always haunt her/be a part of her. I think he'll always be looking out for her best interests/keeping her away from assholes like Rory.
One thing that bothers me about this ending is that Tim had said in an interview that "every character gets a satisfying ending except Astrid." Except this ending doesn't feel satisfying for Lydia. Great that she made up with Astrid but this weird ghost guy is gonna be haunting her during the day and sharing her bed at night?
It just seems like a weird, unsatisfying ending for Lydia, especially with how Winona has said that Tim has always been protective of Lydia's character. It didn't have to be a traditional ending of them married (but yes it should have been lol) but Lydia's story ending with her never truly finding peace? It just doesn't sit right with me and other fans.
Instead of leaning into a horror ending, I think somehow it could've still ended with a musical song and dance number just like the first film. I want there to be a third part so bad that I'm actually thinking of writing my dream script for it, AND I'm delulu enough to believe Tim will find it floating around on the internet a few months from now and love the script so much that he officially announces Beetlejuice Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. Delulu is the Solulu.

šŸ” Mikey is very close with his family, and everyone who has ever met him knows this
šŸ” When you first met Mikey, he no doubt wanted you to meet his sister, Emma, because he knew that she would like talking to his brother's S/O
šŸ” He introduced you guys to one another a couple weeks after your relationship began, in which he just rode up to your house and asked you straight-up if you wanted to meet someone important to him
šŸ” You hopped on his bike, wrapping your arms around his waist from behind and rode with him from your home to his to meet this person
šŸ” Mikey has told you all kinds of stories about his family, from his late older brother Shinichiro to his younger sister Emma
šŸ” His bike came to a stop in front of a Dojo, it was his family's, the same one that he was raised in and technically adopted his sister, Emma
šŸ” He grabbed your hand and dragged you through the doors, announcing his and your arrival loudly for someone to hear
" Emma! You here? " " Yeah, oh! Who's your friend, Mikey? Is this your S/O? "
šŸ” A youthful girl walked out from around the corner of the hallway and looked into the Dojo-themed room, her yellow eyes stared into your (E/C) eyes and she smiled
šŸ” Introducing herself, you learned that this was Emma Sano, Mikey's younger half-sister, specifically her father's mistress' child
šŸ” Unfortunately for Mikey, you and Emma bonded so much that you were pushing Mikey's affections down a peg, meaning you were ignoring him slightly, prompting him to start pouting
šŸ” Why was his family such good conversationalists?

šŸŖ” He has wanted you to meet them for so long, but, since his mother worked late and normally wasn't given many breaks from work, he hasn't had any time to actually set up a meeting
šŸŖ” Both thankfully and not thankfully, his mother was given time off, only because she had gotten sick
šŸŖ” Mitsuya was putting in a lot of effort to helping his mother get better fast, so, when you called and he explained the situation, he was shocked when you said you were coming over with some soup
šŸŖ” He tried to protest, claiming he didn't want you getting sick, but, you protested his protests (omg i've never typed that word that much) and you hung up after telling him you'd be there later that day
šŸŖ” Mitsuya sighed and and laid the phone down, you really were a stubborn person when it came to things like this
šŸŖ” When he heard the sound of his sisters yelling that a person was at the door, he got up from the kitchen stove, where he had a tea kettle and opened the door
šŸŖ” You held out a tupperware filled with a reddish-orange thick liquid, he was guessing it was the soup you had made, probably tomato
" Love, you really didn't have to do this. " " Well, I can't have my future mother-in-law staying sick for long, now can I? "
šŸŖ” Your boyfriend directed you to his mother's room while his sisters played in the living room, and when his mother saw you, she smiled and laughed, teasing her son
šŸŖ” He smiled lightly as he handed her a spoon and laid the smooth-vegetable soup in her hands, before wishing her health to reach her and leaving the room with your boyfriend
šŸŖ” This may have not been the most ideal way for you to meet his family, but it did remind him of why he loved you, you're an amazing person with an amazing heart

šŸ’¢ When you called his home one day and Smiley picked up, he pretended to be his twin brother, since he obviously wasn't gonna step up to have you meet him anytime soon
šŸ’¢ He snickered once you hung up, bidding goodbye, and he began to start laughing, though he attempted to hold it in, his brother was in the next room after all
" Who was that? " " Oh, just a spam. I decided to prank the scammer, it was fun! "
šŸ’¢ Angry was relaxing on the sofa, messing around with a plush you had gotten him a few days prior, by what he knew, they weren't expecting any guests, especially ones after 5:00pm
šŸ’¢ When he opened the door and saw you standing there, his eyes widened and he cocked and eyebrow, asking why you showed up unannounced, and when you replied with how he asked you to come over for dinner that night, he connected the dots
" That must have been Nahoya, my brother... " " Oh! Now I'm embarrassed, I can't even tell my boyfriend apart from his brother. " " Not by voice, no, but, you'll definitely tell us apart by our physical features... "
šŸ’¢ Nahoya jumped out from behind the corner and hugged you, saying how happy he was that he could finally meet the person that his brother raved about when healing or resting

ā˜„ļø Hakkai wanted you to meet his sister, yes, but, due to your busy schedules, he couldn't seem to find the perfect time where Taiju and Yuzuha were apart
ā˜„ļø So, whenever you guys had met up to hang out, he normally led you to your home and away from his, he didn't need any trouble now
ā˜„ļø But, when you came to his house unannounced, he froze in place
ā˜„ļø Oh God, why were you here now?! Taiju wasn't in the brightest moods by what Yuzuha told him, and he didn't need to risk your safety like this!
" Hakkai! Who's at the damn door?! It's takin' you forever! "
ā˜„ļø You cocked and eyebrow as he yelled out to the male how it was someone he needed to speak to outside for a few minutes
ā˜„ļø He ushered you back outside the doorway and stood with you outside his home, and he sighed, knowing you were gonna ask him a ton of questions on what was going on
ā˜„ļø Hakkai slightly teared up as you asked what was happening, and, when he just told you that they had some 'familial bonds' that were kinda rusted over, you groaned, knowing he was lying
ā˜„ļø Instead of pushing salt into the wound, you hugged him, allowing him to sigh and wipe his tears away as the door opened
ā˜„ļø He swung around to shield you as a young girl walked out, she had light-orange hair and piercing amber eyes, and when she saw you she tilted her head
" Who are you exactly? " " I'm- " " This is the person I've been telling you about, Yuzuha. Y/N, this is my older sister, Yuzuha, and this is my S/O, Y/N L/N. "
ā˜„ļø Yuzuha smiled and held her hand out for you to shake, saying how she figured he had an S/O with how cheery he was whenever he hung up the phone sometimes
ā˜„ļø Hakkai got flustered and tried hiding his face as you and Yuzuha exchanged stories about Hakkai being a dork as he mumbled about how you guys were 'ganging up on him'

Have you seen it?
my masterlist
pairing: Spencer Reid x gn! reader summary: You start explaining the 'Pretty Little Liars' plot to your bf words: 440 warings: spoilers for pll obviously! a/n: how about pll/criminal minds cross over where spencer and spencer start dating? Has anyone ever thought of that? Is there a market for that?
Tumblr media
You and Spencer sat comfortably on the couch, the soft glow of the TV casting gentle shadows in the dimly lit room. The movie, A Cinderella Story starring Lucy Hale, played on the screen.
You had a soft spot for these light-hearted, whimsical films, and every once in a while, you managed to persuade Spencer to watch one with you. To his credit, he always agreed, happy to partake in anything that brought you joy, even if it was a bit out of his usual interests.
"This girl was in this one show, Pretty Little Liars. It was crazy and had so many plot holes," you said, your eyes lighting up as you remembered the series.
"Have you seen it? It's actually about crime... kind of. Well, there's this group of girls who start getting scary messages and threats. Season 1 is pretty good actually. Oh, and this girl, Lucy Hale, she plays Aria, who starts dating her English teacher."
Spencer's eyebrows shot up in surprise. "What?"
"I know, it's crazy," you laughed, shaking your head. "Also, one of the girls... you'll never guess it. Her name is Spencer! And sheā€™s super smart."
Spencer chuckled, a warm, affectionate sound that made your heart flutter.
"She is! She can hack and stuff, and she knows everything. Just like you!"
"How long was the show?" Spencer asked, tilting his head with genuine curiosity.
With that question, Spencer unknowingly opened the floodgates. You forgot about the movie you were watching, your excitement bubbling over as you launched into a detailed explanation of the convoluted plot of Pretty Little Liars.
"And then it turns out CeCe is Charlotte, who used to be Charles, but sheā€™s actually trans," you explained animatedly, your hands gesturing wildly. "And guess what? There's another character who has a secret sister."
Spencer's eyes widened as he tried to keep up with the barrage of information. Despite his impressive intellect, he struggled to piece together the tangled web of relationships and mysteries you were describing.
You grabbed your laptop, pulling up images and character charts to help illustrate your points.
"The movie ended an hour ago," Spencer noted, glancing at the dark screen, a bemused smile tugging at his lips.
You barely heard him, too caught up in recounting the show's most outrageous twists. "Spencer has a sister! An evil British twin sister! That was crazy! It was wild!"
Spencer's smile widened as he watched your enthusiasm. He loved seeing you so passionate, even if he couldn't quite wrap his mind around the labyrinthine plot of Pretty Little Liars.
For him, moments like these were priceless, reminding him of why he adored you so much.
You two were so different, but so similar at the same time.

About Brainwashing in Danganronpa
Hello to all 3 of the people who see this account. A few months ago, I made a thread on hit website Twitter dot com about brainwashing in the Danganronpa Series. I discussed where it came from, how it works, and how the brainwashing of class 77-B was never a retcon. The thread got a lot of attention there, even getting a "debunk" on other hit website Reddit dot com (lmao). Due to that, there's been a lot of responses and questions. Since I can't really update a Twitter thread, I decided that I'd make the Ultimateā„¢ Brainwashing thread and hopefully dispel any information on the subject while making my original points more clear and covering things I failed to cover. So here it is: Brainwashing in Danganronpa, how it works, where it came from, and how it was intended from the start. (a šŸ§µ except not really) *Massive spoilers for Danganronpa Zero, Danganronpa 2, Danganronpa Another Episode, Danganronpa Togami, and Danganronpa 3, as well as the series as a whole*
Tumblr media
Danganronpa Zero: First Sighting
Brainwashing has its roots all the way back in the second official entry produced in the series, Danganronpa Zero. During the story's events, Ryoko comes across a secret cult made up of students from the reserve course. They're seen staring at a strange video, seemingly turning them and turn them into mindless zombies.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The video depicts members of the student council killing each other. Ryoko is stunned while watching it. She can barely look away, but eventually through force of will she does. This same video is later used to convince the reserve course to rebel.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The way it's described to work is that it uses their ā€œpent-up emotions,ā€ implying that their emotions played a role in its effectiveness. It's also worth noting that the novel itself refers to what is happening as brainwashing, making this objectively the first depiction of brainwashing in the series right from the second entry.
Tumblr media
Danganronpa 2: Now it Gets Dubious
Our next instance of brainwashing comes from Danganronpa 2. The concept is brought up multiple times, such as when Makoto states that the Ultimate Despairs were brainwashed or how the Neo World Program is good at treating brainwashing, though the details of what brainwashing actually means in this context are kept vague.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's also worth noting that Danganronpa 2 was being written around the same time as Danganronpa Zero and Kodaka wanted concepts from the novel to appear in Danganronpa 2, likely so readers would feel validated. This is why things like Izuru Kamukura and the reserve course play huge roles in Danganronpa 2, it's not too much of a stretch to say that the same applies with brainwashing. One detail weā€™re given about the brainwashing is from Monokuma, who states the Ultimate Despairs were brainwashed by Junko taking advantage of their feelings. Specifically love, hate, grudges, and "anything really". If that sounds familiar, itā€™s because thatā€™s exactly how the brainwashing video from Danganronpa Zero was described to function, using their pent-up emotions.
Tumblr media
I should mention that Monokuma and Junko are known for being unreliable narrators who often stretch the truth, exaggerate things, and use hyperbole to manipulate people into believing their narrative. Monokuma describes the Ultimate Despairs as ā€œnothing more than Junkoā€™s limbsā€, which contradicts the existence of characters like Nagito. Who, while in his despair state, did not work with Junko nor did he look up to her (at least in the normal sense like the other Ultimate Despairs). In fact, it would have been impossible for them to really obey any of Junko's orders as Ultimate Despairs because Junko was trapped inside of Hope's Peak with minimal connection to the outside world. This isn't a definitive "Monokuma is lying" statement, but just note that his word isn't 100% reliable. Meanwhile, someone like Makoto who outright mentions brainwashing, is a much more reliable source.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Danganronpa Another Episode: More Brainwashing! (kinda irrelevant tho...)
The next time brainwashing is used is in the next entry, Danganronpa Another Episode. Though its purpose in this discussion isnā€™t the most useful, as the brainwashing is caused by Monokuma helmets, which donā€™t have their functionality explained. I figured it was worth mentioning and describing at least, as its another example of brainwashing at least.
Tumblr media
I did figure it was worth adding how the brainwashed children act. They obey the Warriors of Hopeā€™s every command, as if they have zero control over their actions. This is different from how the Ultimate Despairs act, who still some free had free will after presumably being brainwashed judging by the actions of Nagito, who is also in this game.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Danganronpa Togami: I Hate My Life
Okay. As mixed as my opinions are on this novel trilogy, it does feature brainwashing. In fact, it might feature one of the most detailed and important descriptions of brainwashing in the series, and even outright CONFIRMS that class 77-B were brainwashed (sorta).
Tumblr media
"Hey um... Tumblr/Twitter user Pengu... what do you mean by 'sorta'?" Well my uninformed reader who I guarantee has probably never read this book, there's a twist. I regret to inform you that the canonicity of Danganronpa Togami is rather questionable, as it depicts an extremely unreliable narratorā€™s warped viewing of events due to this thing called the K2K system, which means not everything in the novel is meant to be taken literally or at face value.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This doesn't mean that everything should be discarded or immediately dismissed however. This just means that we have to use our brains a little and decipher what the hell Yuya Sato was cooking when he wrote this novel trilogy. In the novel, we discover the existence of the elusive despair novel. When read, the novel will turn the reader to despair and inflict them with the despair disease. This novel is what's used to plummet the world into despair, as well as being what caused the class 77-B to become the Ultimate Despairs. There's no known ways to avoid it, once you read it, it's joever. šŸ˜”
Tumblr media
As I said earlier, the events of Danganronpa Togami canā€™t be taken literally. Due to this and prior context, we can safely assume that the despair novel is most likely the K2K's warped idea of the despair video from Danganronpa Zero. Instead of being a book being read that brainwashed people, it was a video being watched. What makes me so sure? Well let's look over the similarities. The way the despair novel works is that it uses cruel words to overload the reader with negative emotions, causing them to snap and turn to despair. That sounds almost exactly like the despair video, overloading the viewer by manipulating their emotions until they turn to despair.
However, a major difference comes from the fact that Danganronpa Togami confirms towards the end that the despair novel doesn't literally brainwash people, acting as a placebo and an excuse for people with despair to use.
However I don't believe this suddenly breaks the connection to the despair video in Danganronpa Zero. All it shows is that the novel doesn't create despair, which is something we already established with the brainwashing video. It doesn't make despair, it makes it stronger. Whether it be via the disturbing imagery on the screen or the words on a page giving you an excuse, all it does is amplify despair. Basically it doesn't make despair come out of nowhere, it incites it. This connection's a little bit of a stretch but I'll bring it up anyways. The technology used in the despair novels was originally to bring hope. (Take notes, it will probably be important assuming you buy this connection.)
Tumblr media
Essentially, the despair novel works in a similar same way as the despair video, but instead itā€™s a book and you read it instead of watching it. This means that class 77-B and the rest of the world were most likely brainwashed via the despair video, and that is what caused the class to become Ultimate Despairs.
Tumblr media
Danganronpa 3: The One People Really Don't Like
And all of this brings us to the most detailed yet controversial usage of brainwashing: Danganronpa 3. Many assume that the animeā€™s usage of brainwashing is a retcon, contradicting the words of our holy savior Super Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair High School. However, Iā€™d like to debate that. In fact, I'd like to finally put a nail in the coffin of this really stupid debate and finally show you that Danganronpa 3's depiction of brainwashing is exactly how it has always been described.
Tumblr media
In Danganronpa 3, we are introduced to Ryota Mitarai and his anime. Using the power of subliminal messaging, it heightens the viewer's emotions and makes them more powerful. What was once a slightly emotional scene is now a complete tearjerker fully capable of tearing at the viewers heart strings! While he acknowledges that there are unethical things that can be done with this technology and it's technically brainwashing, his goal is to use this technology to make the world a better place, even if it can be dangerous. If that sounds familiar, that's because it's what Hope's Peak tried doing with the despair novel in Danganronpa Togami. Though I'll admit, this single point is a little bit of a stretch as there are differences. I just figured it was worth at least a mention.
Tumblr media
Using her analytical prowess, Junko gets a rough understanding of how the technology works, so she develops the despair video, featuring the student council killing each other overlayed with subliminal messaging technology to make the despair felt while viewing the video stronger.
Tumblr media
The video works on Mikan, however Junko fears that the video may not be powerful enough to fully go through with her plans due to not understanding the technology nearly as well as Ryota does. Because of this, she forces Ryota to create a better, more powerful despair video. A despair video v2 if you will. Junkoā€™s fears werenā€™t unfounded, as we discover that Chisa had the mental fortitude to resist the despair video, similarly to how Ryoko was able to resist the same video in Danganronpa Zero. This is exactly why Junko needs a more powerful video, one that she knows canā€™t be resisted.
Tumblr media
"Ermmmm, Tumblr/Twitter user Pengu, how come Ryoko and Chisa are able to resist the despair video but Mikan and nobody in the reserve course could?" Good question, the answer is pretty simple. As mentioned before, the video takes advantage of the emotions of the viewer. Mikan is already pretty weak minded, so there wasn't much issue in controlling her. The reserve course already hated Hope's Peak and would take any reason to hate them more, so a video that shows them the sins of Hope's Peak would affect them as well. Ryoko and Chisa have no connection to the reserve course however, and neither are particularly very weak emotionally. Ryoko has the analytical prowess of Junko and Chisa is just a very strong willed person in general, and paired with Junko's lack of knowledge about subliminal messaging when creating the video, it's pretty obvious it wouldn't be that effective on them. All the more reason for Junko to force Ryota to make a better despair video.
Tumblr media
The despair video v2 that Ryota is forced to make comes in the form of Chiakiā€™s execution video, where the stronger subliminal messages paired with witnessing the representation of the happiest moments in their miserable lives and their closest friend suffer makes class 77-B unable to resist. Ultimately this causes them to finally snap, being overloaded with despair, and now they turn into the Ultimate Despairs. (side note this is so freaking cool idc what anyone else says)
Tumblr media
This resembles Monokumaā€™s explanation from Danganronpa 2. Junko used class 77-Bā€™s emotions and years of getting closer against them to turn them to them to despair. Now featuring the added context of her using the video designed to manipulate peopleā€™s emotions. Also as @jelimore pointed out, Junko leading the class to Chiaki's execution itself was manipulating them. This depiction of brainwashing fits perfectly with the information provided throughout the series, even down to the little details. Itā€™s so close in fact that I can say without a doubt that Danganronpa 3 did not retcon anything. ā€œBut Tumblr/Twitter user Pengu, that isnā€™t how the video is shown to work during Hope Arc. Therefore it actually contradicts previous entries and is inconsistent!" To that I say, youā€™re correct! ...at least about the hope video functioning differently, but that doesnā€™t make it inconsistent. The hope video behaves pretty differently. Instead of overloading the viewer with negative feelings, it simply just shows them a repeating video loop that turns them into a mindless zombie, likely caused by even stronger subliminal messaging. The people affected can also snap out of this state with some time, as seen with Aoi.
Tumblr media
The reasoning for this is actually pretty simple, itā€™s just different technology entirely. Itā€™s stated that the hope video was developed later on after the despair video. If anything, it behaves very similar to the Monokuma masks from Danganronpa Another Episode, which we also already established uses different technology. The hope video doesnā€™t contradict the despair video at all because they both use completely different tech. This can also be seen with how the despair video uses subliminal messaging, meanwhile the messaging in the hope video couldnā€™t be further from subliminal. There is no inconsistency, just two different things.
Tumblr media
The reason the hope video needed to be broadcasted everywhere was so that since it would be airing everywhere, nobody would have time for the effects to wear off or resist it. This would turn the world into mindless zombies who obey every command, similarly to the Monokuma kids. It's just that now they don't have to force bulky helmets onto everyone.
Debunking Common Arguments
With the hope video out of the way, I think itā€™s very safe to assume that not only is the despair videoā€™s functionality very accurate to previous descriptions, itā€™s also always been the reason for the brainwashing of Class 77-B, long before Danganronpa 3. Even if you disagree and think the cause of brainwashing was never explicitly mentioned in Danganronpa 2, there's still the fact that Danganronpa 2 outright says it was brainwashing. So even if a video wasn't the direct cause of it, them being brainwashed was still always intended (though given the context and the fact the video was introduced in a tie in novel for the game, I'm certain that it was always the culprit). Many point to this line where Kazuichi asks why they became the Ultimate Despairs and Makoto says he never got an answer to debunk this. But... this doesn't change anything. He asks why they became Ultimate Despairs, not how. And this is completely ignoring the fact that Makoto clearly has done his own digging into the situation, he discovered the Remnants of Despair were hiding among Future Foundation after all. The Future Foundation had access to brainwashing videos, they found them, so of course Makoto is going to know about the brainwashing. What Makoto is saying here is that he doesn't know every little detail, all he knows is that they were brainwashed. I wrote a bit more about it here, but there's nothing contradictory in this scene.
Tumblr media
Many also point to Mikan stating that it was her many human relationships that led her to being the way she is. Once again, this changes literally nothing. Mikan was the only one of the remnants who actually knew Junko, she was the only one who spent time with her because she was the first subject. This is why she gets more attached to her, and even why she'd believe what Junko would tell her when they spent time together. Monokuma also says that Junko used "hopeless methods overflowing with charisma and humor" to control the masses. I don't even know why I have to address this, but this statement is so vague you can interpret it as a million things. Like for example, this is how she got Ryota to work for her. While pretending to be Makoto to manipulate the people in the trial, Junko tells them that they all became Ultimate Despairs while coming into contact with her at Hope's Peak and they were subjected by her terrifying influence. Again, ignoring how vague "terrifying influence" is, this is literally Junko trying to LIE AND MANIPULATE them. This is quite possibly the worst example you could have used because we know for a fact that she is lying to them while pretending to be Makoto. There's other examples of Junko trying to manipulate them, like mentioning how everyone hated them and their all Ultimate Despairs at the end of the day. But that's just what this is, manipulation. You would think that the "Junko manipulated class 77-B" crowd would understand that saying "everyone hates you but I saw your potential" is literally manipulation 101. She even states that Izuru killed the entirety of a student council, which we know for certain is a lie because Danganronpa Zero (which came out before) says otherwise. Some say that the brainwashing turned them into mindless zombies and eliminates all blame from their actions. While I would agree that it does make them less at fault, they still have the ability to make choices and still have free will. Their original personalities haven't been overwritten, their brains were just rewired to crave despair. They're still each their individual person with their own ways of feeling despair, and characters like Chisa and Nagito show that they regain their free will to an extent. I also wrote more about that here, LOL.
Conclusion and Final Thoughts
This whole debate stems from people misunderstanding Monokumaā€™s words and going along with the popular interpretation, which turned out to be wrong. Whether you like the use of brainwashing or not, it objectively isnā€™t a retcon as it's been developed ever since Danganronpa Zero. Personally, I love the use of brainwashing. I think the way it's developed throughout the series and its usage in Danganronpa 3 is super interesting. If you disagree, that's fine! Heck, if you choose to headcanon that Junko manipulated 15 individual teenagers into all becoming despair hungry terrorists capable but ending the world and fighting off every military in the world in less than a year, that's cool too! But the truth is, Danganronpa 3's brainwashing is canon and it's also not a retcon nor does it contradict anything. Contrary to popular belief, Kodaka was involved with the writing of the anime. He provided a large draft and outline of the plot and oversaw its development. He produced the anime, he did his homework, the team even played the games to prepare for writing the anime. He knew what he was doing. I'm sure if Kodaka intended for them to all be manipulated one by one, that's what he would have went with. All information implying that it was manipulation is very few and far between and questionable at best, not to mention outweighed by everything implying it was brainwashing. Mind manipulation stuff is not new in this series, its been around since the first game and brainwashing was established in literally the second entry ever produced. Whether you love it or hate it, think it's the best thing since sliced bread or the death of the series, brainwashing was the answer the whole time. Some people just never noticed it, and instead of acknowledging that they were wrong, they stuck with a headcanon that they believed so much and jumped to the conclusion of "retcon". I hope this mega post managed to inform some people, maybe change some minds too. If you still don't buy it, then I guess there's nothing I can do. Thanks for reading all of this though, I tend to yap a lot about this franchise lmao.

DRDT Chapter 2 Episode 13: First Impressions
Woo! DRDT! It is time! Time for despair! Letā€™s go! My excitement has not faded in the slightest from last week; if anything, itā€™s stronger than before. Here are my first impressions of this weekā€™s episode!!!
Tumblr media
Spoilers for CH2 EP13
CW Suicide, violent murder, mafia mention, suicide, hanging, self-harm.
Itā€™s starting! Leviā€™s got some explaining to do. Will someone (say, Eden) have an interesting reaction?
Alright, Jā€™s not the one I expected to have first reaction, but cool.
ā€œYouā€¦ā€ Is Ace okay?Ā
ā€œAh. I didnā€™t expect that.ā€ Roseā€™s legendary reaction.
YOU CANNOT ā€œTHATā€™S WACKā€ THIS SITUATION WHIT
Oh, so people know, but the court struck it. Interesting.
Ah, thereā€™s the Ace reaction. Also, ā€œno way Hopeā€™s Peak scouted a murdererā€ but you have a poisoner on another secret and an art forger, at least. Not the same level maybe, but still.Ā
ā€œDonā€™t make the mistake of switching cause and effect.ā€ Of course Hopeā€™s Peak is responsible, that was my first gut instinct. God, itā€™s so shady in this universe.
Woo, Levi backstory! Three ā€œold enemies?ā€
ā€¦ Bro??? I donā€™t think any of us actually expected more than one murder, but I might be wrong on that. Self-defense, then two first degrees, huh?
ā€œWere you in the mafia or something?ā€ Thanks J.
ā€œI donā€™t think I need to elaborateā€ No, you do. You really should elaborate. Please? For me?
ā€œWho did you even kill?ā€ Andā€¦ Levi!Accomplice is looking rougher by the second. Then again, maybe she didnā€™t know.
Levi tracked two of them down, but doesnā€™t know who they were? How?
ā€œThat car I blew up once?ā€ HUH???
ā€œThatā€™sā€¦ kind of a lot to admit all of the sudden.ā€ True, Rose. Iā€™m trying to see what heā€™s cooking, but I canā€™t tell.
How do you forget this? Jeez.
ā€œHow could you forget?ā€ You know, Arturo, I was kinda irrationally worried Charles was about to throw in his secret phrase, but itā€™s cool that you avoided that. Thanks.
[For the uninformed; itā€™s theorized the characters will, at some point in the series, say the quotes hidden in the source code of their dedicated pages out loud, since Min and Arei both said theirs, and Xanderā€™s could be in a flashback. That means that if a character says their secret quotes, their chances of dying go up drastically.]
ā€œIf you donā€™t care about murder, you could be the murderer.ā€ (Paraphrased) Yes thanks Veronika not the point.Ā
ā€œAlmost as if you donā€™t careā€¦ā€ Great. I didnā€™t know where Levi was going with this, now I donā€™t know where Veronika is going with her schtick.
Iā€™m surprised Ace is taking it relatively well [as in, not outwardly terrified]. I guess near death does that to someone.
Woo! Time frame! Junior high school!Ā
Interesting, so he didnā€™t start fashion because of the murder. Thatā€™s kinda what I was thinking, but I was wrong.
Weā€™re getting our first crumbs of Hopeā€™s Peak being ultra shady in main series! After Roseā€™s backstory ig. Unfortunately the ā€œpretentious revolutionariesā€ arenā€™t here to ā€œhand out tickets of leadā€ ā† LGI brainrot
ā€œIt could also refer to the time I murdered my father.ā€
ā€¦Ā
???????????????????????????
You didnā€™t lead with that?! Also, what?! I laughed out loud at the fucking absurdity of the statement, but what?!
ā€œItā€™s a bit of a bother.ā€ The bothersome part is that theyā€™re phrased vaguely and not that they reveal youā€™re a murderer, got it.
ā€œGo back!ā€ Thank you J.
What do you mean I think. Bro how many people have you killed? What in the name of Kirisaki Shidou [/ref]?
ā€œNot even the police cared about a man like him.ā€ ??? Also, wasnā€™t your dad a bad influence? Youā€™ve mentioned him before, it didnā€™t sound that bad- Wait, is he lying? No way heā€™s lying. Hold on, let me watch more.
[In retrospect, I doubt heā€™s lying, but his story is certainly weird]
ā€œI see no reason to remain hung up-ā€ Then why are you bringing it up. I still canā€™t fucking tell what youā€™re trying to accomplish here.
Edenā€™s reaction isā€¦ neutral, I guess? Makes sense either way?
Eden!Culprit has always been hard to maintain during the trial, huhā€¦ Still took the tape though. And I guess itā€™s potentially interesting sheā€™s getting this much dialogue about Leviā€™s thing. Terukoā€™s yet to speak this episode.
ā€œI wonder if I should really tell the truthā€¦ā€ Bro what do you mean thereā€™s more truth to tell?
Oh, hey, speaking of Teruko. And it seems she and I share a mind.
ā€œI donā€™t care about people at all.ā€ Ooooh, I like this. Some kind of condition?
I feel a little bit like Veronika, interested in hearing his experience with this. Feeling like Veronika is probably a bad thing.
ā€œYouā€™re still a stranger to me.ā€ Leviā€™s quickly climbing the ranks of fave characters, btw. This is super interesting.
ā€œBut youā€™re a good person-ā€ DO NOT ā€œgood personā€ right now, Eden! Thatā€™s a point to Levi!Accomplice, maybe? Maybe not? I donā€™t know whatā€™s happening. And I still donā€™t get what Levi is trying to do here.
Double ā€œgood person?ā€ Bro what is happening.
ā€œI donā€™t personally care what happens to Ace.ā€ Mood (thatā€™s a joke I like Ace).
PFT- Aceā€™s reaction lol.
ā€œBut it is ā€œgoodā€ to make sure someone else doesnā€™t die-ā€ Goodbye Levi!Accomplice! I liked you, but Iā€™m probably gonna go try to find other theories after this episode :p (This is a joke, btw; if I didnā€™t discount theories like Hu!Culprit when the new alibis came up, Iā€™m not going to completely abandon Levi!Accomplice over this. But, just saying, there might be a few revisions to be made)
ā€œHaha. Youā€¦ā€ Ace breakdown! Breakdown! (I'm absolutely acting like Veronika now).
ā€œI was right all along.ā€ Yeah, Ace ā€˜can tell a hawk from a handsawā€™ Markey, nice one. (Does anyone even know/remember why Iā€™m referencing that line or is LGI too far in the past for that?)
New Ace sprite! Cool one too. Clutching his heart, Acevi shippers eating ig.Ā
ā€œGood thing I didnā€™t fall for it. Not one bit.ā€ Oh theyā€™re eating GOOD good!
ā€œThereā€™s only one person in my whole life who Iā€™ve ever been able to call my friend-ā€ IS THAT A FUCKING TAYLOR REFERENCE?!?!?! Holy shit, I donā€™t know how many people are even gonna remember we have a canon name for that dude. I hope someone still has the screenshot of the deleted answer from the CH2 Part 1 Q&A.Ā
ā€œI really hope you fucking die.ā€ We are active in Trial 2 Part 2, huh? Between Arturo telling him to ā€œshut his whore mouthā€ and this, Leviā€™s getting verbally jumped!
ā€œYouā€™re quite the interesting person, Leviā€ Please Veronika, give me the psychoanalysis.
Dude, thatā€™s three ā€œgood personā€ drops all on Levi. Chat the importance of this phrase may have been slightly overexaggerated by me (then again, the list of ā€œgood personā€ people has yet to grow from last chapter).
ā€œYou act like a big pushover because-ā€ This is the psychoanalysis I came to see!
I donā€™t know if Iā€™d call it ā€œintuitive understandingā€ but I guess Leviā€™s not fully wrong about Veronika.
Four ā€œgood person.ā€ And thatā€™s not counting Veronikaā€™s ā€œgood people.ā€
Five. Also, this continues to be interesting. Why did Levi bring this up again?
ā€œAfter looking at David, I thought being honest-ā€ Okay thatā€™s hilarious.
ā€œTry looking in a mirrorā€¦ā€ First David line of the episode, right? And itā€™s a nice one of course.
Thatā€™s six cases of ā€œgood personā€ in this chapter alone holy shit. At least itā€™s David, who still had counts.
ā€œI apologize for this tangentā€ Then can you please explain why the tangent exists in the first place? Or is it really just because being honest is "good"?
[Spoilers. It really was because of that. What]
ā€œI canā€™t believe there was a time I liked you.ā€ Yeah Acevi is still eating good. I doubt the hostility is gonna drive the shippers away; thatā€™s what theyā€™re here for, right?
And of course Whitā€™s first line makes him look suspicious. Bro you have an alibi for the time of disappearance of fish and you didnā€™t take the tape from the gym, stop pretending to be the killer.
ā€œLetā€™s not jump to conclusions.ā€ Thank you Hu, but let me jump to a conclusion. Is Levi not gonna explain why he revealed his secret beyond the honesty thing?
Okay Jā€™s response is good too.
ā€œNo, [Arei] didnā€™t [talk to Levi about the secret]ā€ Bro what the fuck are we even talking about anymore.
ā€œI donā€™t have a defenseā€ (Paraphrased) No but seriously what. Iā€™m this close to ripping out my hair. What is he doing.
ā€œWe donā€™t have evidence [Levi is the murderer]ā€ Thank you Teruko Tawaki for being one of three competent people in the building. This is affectionate, one of my favorite parts of the DRDT cast is that they all suck at class trials lol :p
Bro Whit is trying REALLY HARD to look like the murderer rn. Iā€™m still not letting him convince me. Yet.
ā€œI realized that motives alone are not concrete evidence.ā€ Yayyyy! Progress!
ā€œI feel a sneeze coming onā€¦ā€ Dude David and Teruko need to get into comedy, theyā€™re fucking hilarious.
ā€œOne second please.ā€ Hu I trusted you. Why. Youā€™re revealing your secret, right?
ā€œ...I didnā€™t want you all to think less of me.ā€ Aww, poor Hu. No oneā€™s gonna think less of you, youā€™re doing awesome (I am assuming she has hopeless child btw).
ā€œI wanted to believe the past never happenedā€ Butterfly motif and ā€œwater as rebirthā€ symbolism go brrr.Ā
ā€œIā€™ve always been a selfish person, havenā€™t I?ā€ Hu please, youā€™re really nice, even if you go overboard at times.
ā€œI will share my secret if you promise to immediately move on.ā€ (Paraphrased) Good idea. It would probably be good to talk about it if she wants, but this is kinda not the time.
ā€œI have Veronikaā€™s secret, and she has mine.ā€ Okay I did NOT expect her to reveal she had Veronikaā€™s, but alright! Thatā€™s two more on the board, and two more most of us got right! At least the theorists are doing well on the secrets.
[Veronika agreeing to the pact] Bro what pact, how did you communicate that? Also, ā€œI have such little interest in both of our secretsā€ is wild, but it makes sense given her personality. Recap foils go brr, Iā€™ll sit down and think about this later.
ā€œMy own so-called secret isnā€™t even the worst thing Iā€™ve done.ā€ Uhā€¦??? Itā€™s just bombshell after bombshell, these episodes!
Oh, we are questioning the pact. I kinda thought theyā€™d managed to do that in the trial, now Iā€™m really curious. Please tell me we arenā€™t gonna have to ignore that question because of what Hu asked of them.
Shit.
ā€œWeā€™re not gonna talk about me?ā€ Oh, Vero, I would love for them to talk about you, but I donā€™t think itā€™s gonna happen.
ā€œAreiā€“ Achoo!ā€ WHEN I TELL YOU I CACKLED LIKE A MADPERSON HOLY SHIT
ā€œBless me! Also, excuse me! Wow, thank you for your support everyone!ā€ WAIT IT GOT FUNNIER.
ā€œI have another interruptionā€“ā€ Either it just got even funnier or heā€™s about to reveal Terukoā€™s secret and shit got serious, letā€™s see.
Oh, right. But, dude, Iā€™m relatively sure the last two unclaimed secrets canā€™t be hers. Maybe the survivorā€™s guilt one, even though that felt like Xanderā€™s? Are you absolutely certain you donā€™t have her secret?
ā€œMy family.ā€ Figured sheā€™d try that one. [She probably feels it's true to some extent].
Oh, now THATā€™S a David sprite alright. Pretty sure that settles it, the most common theories for secrets during hiatus were all correct.
Iā€™m guessing Davidā€™s still not gonna reveal it. We still need to see a Teruko teacher CG, and I donā€™t think weā€™re gonna have time for that if he brings it up.
ā€œWe did it!ā€ Yeah he ainā€™t revealing shit.Ā
ā€œSir Light Pollutionā€ is actually crazy. Do his eyes really emit light like a flashlight? Thatā€™d be really fucking funny actually.
Oh, it was actually funny because Whit is a boyfailure. Alright, joke understood. I smiled.
ā€œI am truly impressedā€¦ by how bad that was.ā€ And there I laughed!
ā€œIā€™ve started to detect this trial isnā€™t about me.ā€ Iconic of you, Sir Attention Whore /affectionate
Thank you J.
Eden bro can we please let Teruko speak. Also you are not helping the culprit allegations miss Tobisa.
ā€œWhat happened between you and Arei?ā€ Jesus, we really cannot get to the fucking murder, huh? Fair, though, Iā€™m really curious about this too, though I feel weā€™re gonna skip past it without an answer or Davidā€™s just not gonna respond seriously.
ā€œI know that sheā€™s dead and that sheā€™s never coming back.ā€ Weā€™re getting worryingly close to your secret quote wording here, Eden. You sure you wanna go this route?
What are we, on seven ā€œgood personā€s now?
Oh shit are we actually getting an answer?
YES! YES! YES! LETā€™S GO! I wasnā€™t expecting this!
Eight. Though I think this oneā€™s repeated, though I might be wrong.
Yeah, this is old dialogue.
Man, Areiā€™s and Edenā€™s VAs did amazing work this episode!
ā€œThat makes me feel really relieved.ā€ Lie. She didnā€™t say that. Thatā€™s my gut reaction, anyways, I could be wrong.
ā€œI was pissed at you for a bit.ā€ Oh shit chat Davidā€™s not getting cut off. This might actually be true. What the fuck?
Oh, also. Nine. David again.
ā€œThereā€™s not even anything positiveā€¦ā€ Okay this hurts a fucking ton. If Davidā€™s lying, I want him dead. If this is true, holy shit this is sad.
ā€œA metamorphosis like thatā€¦ā€ Jeez this is actually getting sad sad. Auch.
ā€œIā€™ll never be a good person.ā€ Ten, and the tenth hurts a LOT. I donā€™t think Davidā€™s lying, members of the jury. Holy shit this is sad.Ā
ā€œIt turns out that you might be a total piece of shitā€¦ā€ Holy shit I miss Arei already.
Eleven.
ā€œLike Santa Clausā€¦ā€ Didnā€™t Charles bring up something like that talking with Teruko in the computer room? Interesting connection. I guess not ā€œall that glitters,ā€ yeah.
ā€œItā€™s okay that Iā€™ll never be a good person, because no one else can be either.ā€ Okay, first; twelve. Second, ouch.
[I know my commentary's not exactly thrilling. Forgive me, I'm suffering]
ā€œEven Eden.ā€ And what does that mean?
[Eden with blood on her hands CG]
ā€¦
HUH????????????????????????????????????????
I canā€™t- Words- Not working. Hold on, I gotta see what the fuck is happening here.
[Pan to fork]
Iā€™M EVEN MORE CONFUSED THAN BEFORE! WHAT THE FUCK?!
It has four prongs, which matches the Xander one. Did Eden take out Xanderā€™s eye? How in the actual fuck? No chance, right? Iā€™m just going insane?
ā€œIā€™m sure even Eden has hurt someoneā€ (Paraphrased). Brain is still not working. Sorry.
ā€œEven someone like her must have made a mistake she couldnā€™t take backā€ WE ARE GETTING DANGEROUSLY CLOSE TO SECRET QUOTE WORDING!
Weā€™re just moving on? That shit didnā€™t happen? Iā€™m fucking sorry?
I canā€™t even- Does this imply fucking MM!Eden? I donā€™t think so, she doesnā€™t look like she wanted to- WAS it Xander she stabbed? Again, how? What? Iā€™m so confused. YOU CANā€™T DO THIS TO US DEV! I NEED ANSWERS!!!
ā€œSecond ever friendā€¦ā€ Ouch ouch ouch-
Another ā€œgood peopleā€ btw.
[Arei CG] Thatā€™s the fucking- THAT LOOKS LIKE THE FUCKING GIRL FROM LGI?!?!?!
Tumblr media
Like, obviously they look different, but thatā€™s the same pose, with the hand and everything- WHAT?!
Is Arei/David a ship? Itā€™ll probably be one after this.Ā
ā€œNothing-ā€ You absolute piece of shit. Holy shit David, when I get my hands on you Davidā€¦
ā€œNothing else happened between us, I promise.ā€ Wow. Who wouldā€™ve thunk this is how I come to fucking despise a man so much while he simultaneously rises in my fave characters ranking, huh? Holy hell.
ā€œOne hundred percent promise-ā€ I get more mad every line. Thatā€™s good character writing, folks. Jesus.
I canā€™t read Eden this episode. Still think sheā€™s the culprit lol.
ā€œFinally.ā€ Yeah, Teruko. Same.
[By the way, the next section has a lot of me rambling about my own theories, so if you don't know them, here's a link to the latest, now likely outdated version]
ā€œFrom that low of heightā€¦ā€ I like where weā€™re going.
ā€œIā€™m starting to realize how long it's taken to get here.ā€ (Paraphrased) Yeah, Whit. Yeah.
ā€œSome people had to wait one year and five months-ā€ PFFFT- Also Whitā€™s reaction means heā€™s not fully fourth wall aware, which is cool.
NON-STOP DEBATE! LETā€™S DO IT!Ā
[Sees truth bullet] Yes! The jugs were used as weights! Tell me Iā€™m right about this!
YEAH! I GOT IT RIGHT! Also Veronikaā€™s ā€œconsentā€ animation isā€¦ uuhā€¦ very ā€˜Ronika if you catch my drift. I love it!
ā€œThose jugs ended up breakingā€¦ā€ You know it! I wonder if maybe they didnā€™t have time to clean the fish? But they could have gotten water literally elsewhere, so they clearly did use them for alibi.
ā€œThe jugs alone arenā€™t enoughā€¦ā€ (Paraphrased). Yeah, we gotta go higher. Like, the girders at the topā€¦?
ā€œ... rafters on the ceiling.ā€ Yeah!!! Wrong name but I also got this right!
ā€œIt must have been one long ropeā€¦ā€ Or two, because you need the stopper.
ā€œOh, wait, youā€™re agreeing with me. Yes.ā€ Funny, laughed.
ā€œThe rafters were way too highā€¦ā€ Ball of clothes, come on.
ā€œ...something like a pulleyā€¦ā€ Yeah, Whit knows what Iā€™m talking about! The fact heā€™s being helpful makes him less suspicious. Finally, he managed to open his mouth without incriminating himself of something!
ā€œHigh locationā€¦ā€ Are we actually doing stopper rope? My guess is that thatā€™s when weā€™ll get teacher Teruko.
ā€œIn drop hangingā€¦ā€ Okay, first, love the monologue. Second, is there a reason you know so much about drop hanging? Did your motherā€¦? I guess itā€™s not necessary. I also came to the same conclusions and I donā€™t have any history with the stuff.Ā
ā€œWe also know she didnā€™t hit the ground-ā€ Does anyone have a counter of tasteless Whit jokes? Just checking.
ā€œArenā€™t I so smartā€¦ā€ And weā€™re back to kinda incriminating ourselves, because you're denying pulley method. Fantastic.
WOO! ANOTHER NON-STOP! Let me guess, ā€œspinny thingā€ is the truth bullet?
ā€œTape on carousel.ā€ Close enough. Although, hold on, are we actually gonna go ā€œstopped with hands?ā€ No chance, right?
Also am I stupid or does Arturoā€™s VA sound different in the debates?
Yeah btw Levi!Accomplice is dead and buried, I need to find other ways for Eden to have done this.
I like that Teruko still calls it a spinny thing :p
Wow, everyoneā€™s correcting her, huh? I guess Iā€™m the only one that appreciates her smh.
ā€œ...when I need to correct the killerā€™s grammar.ā€ Funny comeback, but you know, the letter does actually have quite a few spelling errors.
Yay! Teacher Teruko! She looks so cute with glasses!
Also I cannot believe it. These Microsoft-Paint ass diagrams remind me of when I did them too lol.
Oh, shit, under the seesaw! Thatā€™s a good one, Teruko! I didnā€™t catch that. (Then again, I always thought the seesaw was in a different place, but oh well).
Is that dog ears Whit? My guy, you know Charles dislikes dogs, right? Then again, you do canonically have negative rizz, so :p
Oh, tying the rope! Not quite a stopper rope, but same concept. Yeah, would work. Good one Teruko!
ā€œThe carousel is made of smooth metal.ā€ THATā€™S WHAT THE TAPE WAS FOR! Clutch.
Oh shit, is the cliffhanger going to be the tapeā€™s origin?
ā€œIā€™ve seen this murder method before.ā€ Okay, wait. One, no origin of tape. Thatā€™s big for Eden!Culprit: My current guess is that someone (ie Veronika) will want to discuss the Ace-Nico thing, which will lead to them discovering Eden took the tape. Two, what the fuck do you mean youā€™ve seen this before?!
ā€œYou have?ā€ Looking kinda worried there, Edenā€¦
ā€œAnd so have you.ā€ Okay am I forgetting something? Minā€™s execution wasnā€™t like this, what the hellā€¦
ā€œMe?ā€ Eden, honey, the allegationsā€¦
ā€œWeā€™re going to talk about a different caseā€¦ā€ Oh shit Terukoā€™s got the Ace method figured out? I would really love to hear that because I have no idea what the hell was happening with that one. Also, I called it! Didnā€™t expect it to be Teruko who brought us back to the Ace case, but still.Ā
ā€œExplain yourself, Nico.ā€ YEAH!!!! Iā€™m actually really excited. Iā€™m gonna look into revising my theory on that case before the next episode, see if I can figure it out, since I think the old methods Iā€™ve discussed with others donā€™t quite line up with what Teruā€™s describing.Ā
What an episode!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
General Thoughts:
Holy shit. Just. So much happened. Itā€™s too much peak.
The Eden CG is the first thing on my mind; thatā€™s crazy. Did she really take out Xanderā€™s eye? I have zero idea what else I would be looking at. Certainly not MM!Eden, too obvious, but I donā€™t know whatā€™s happening there. No fucking idea. I might make a more detailed post when I get my thoughts in order, but all Iā€™m saying; the possibility the girl she kissed was Mai? That Mai told her about Teruko, and Eden attacked Xander in the pre-prologue killing game to protect Teruko? Hmmā€¦
The secrets are huge, too. Nothing wild, given like 75% of the fandom had assumed these secrets anyways, but still nice to get them all. The Levi explanation was fascinating, but I donā€™t know what the fuck it has to do with the trial. Was it really a pointless aside? I donā€™t knowā€¦
The Arei scene was fucking insane even outside the Eden CG. Stabbed through the heart, havenā€™t felt that sad since Minā€™s death, and, yeahā€¦
Not to mention, the fucking ā€œIdeal Country Woman from LGIā€ looking ass frame. At least I finally got my answer; it was a wrist bend, not a glove.Ā
And David. David. Why are you like this. I genuinely canā€™t tell why he does anything anymore.
Finally, I love the Taylor mention, thatā€™s insane. And Veronika has a darker secret? She really wants those MM allegations, huh? Jokes aside, Iā€™m really curious about both those things. I kinda wonder if somehow the students will see the motive videos from Trial 1, since weā€™re hearing about Taylor and Iā€™m hoping Alyssa later.
Justā€¦ Holy shit this episode was awesome. Cannot wait for next week.
First Impression Murder Theory Updates
Itā€™s looking like Levi!Accomplice will end up being a nice AU and nothing more, although Iā€™m not 100% ruling it out. That said, Iā€™m still pretty confident in Eden!Culprit, especially with how we mentioned the tape on the spinny thing was easy to grip, but no oneā€™s made the connection to the gym yet.Ā
The big thing to solve in the Arei case, then, is how Eden got the fish. Thereā€™s a few other accomplices she could have, but those are looking rough unless she somehow got Arei to do it. That said, Iā€™m considering the possibility that she took the minnows ultra early, before Nico started feeding them. That would explain how they didnā€™t notice there were a few missing the night before; they just never counted the ones in the jugs in the first place. That has issues too, but Iā€™ll see about it.Ā
That said, Iā€™m pretty happy with myself! I got a lot of the major points of the pulley system right. The only thing is the ā€œstopper rope vs tie a knotā€ thing, but the principle is similar enough. Weā€™ll see about things like the ball of clothes to put the rope over the rafters. Thereā€™s still plenty of murder to discuss.Ā
As for the Ace caseā€¦ Itā€™ll need a full review later. If itā€™s supposed to be similar to Areiā€™s case, I really have no clue what the hell was happening there. Though I guess the ridiculous wire circuit I made might actually have some merit, given we're doing some kind of pulley?
Tumblr media
... Maybe not :p
I have no further insight; I just need to look at it again.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Anyways, hope you enjoyed! Watching this episode took me like two hours and a half while writing thisā€¦ this almost 4k word postā€¦ soā€¦ yeah. Gods save me if there actually is an hour long episode left. See yaā€™!

i finished the game and veilguard was a disappointment lol
spoilers below
the way they butchered solas' character by just making him be led by the memory of mythal; no self-righteousness, savior complex, it was all done bc he wanted to honor mythal
why are the venatori worshipping elgar'nan and not a single elf. ????
how they made mythal far more important than lavellan to solas to the point for a moment i thought she was solas' ex (thank god it was clarified at the end she was only "solas' oldest friend")
the companions are so... lifeless. cheers to bellara for being the only one that feels like an actual human being and not an agglomeration of bad executed tropes (even if at the beginning she was)
the way mythal didn't end up being a villain, when she actively abused and groomed solas (and also morrigan btw) and it made all the sense in the world because she yearned for a reckoning and bring her revenge, a thing she has yearned for and been planning for a millennia because her anger is that strong... but no she just gave it up
the way morrigan's themes of parental abuse (breaking the cycle of abuse) go to shit after she embraced mythal's memories like.... as someone who has also an abusive mother that i broke contact with this made me want to fucking scream lol
morrigan's character also doesn't sound like her AT ALL, why is this woman smiling and being cocky, she's a scholar, a professional, a woman who carries knowledge that burdens her and trauma at the hands of a mother who should've cared for her. and how protective she was a kieran shows how private she is. what the hell. she would not be THAT friendly with strangers lol
and mythal being the only one who truly could change solas' mind at the end (just thinking abt it makes me want to punch a hole in the wall) + the anticlimactic departure of lavellan to the fade with solas is so fucking bad; because of the message it gives (this world is not worth-living for + a woman should spend the rest of her life and sacrificing herself for a man who put another random woman before her) and its joyless execution
if you get any other ending, the inquisitor doesn't even appear. lmfao. bye.
and lets not talk about the post-ending credits scene bc thats actually the thing that i hated the most. it makes all the themes and writing of bioware completely meaningless lol
the funny thing is that i have known for years where would bioware go with dragon age's story and 95% of my theories were correct, but me, someone who is not a writer, would've made a far more compelling story respecting dragon age's themes and nuance. i even predicted that mythal abused and groomed solas, but they executed it so badly that i can't believe these people get paid to write stories lmfao
i literally feel so betrayed, so hollow, so sad, i don't know what to do. i literally just uninstalled veilguard after finishing it. i spent 10 years imagining how the story would go, but id never imagine it would be THIS BAD.
the books, the content, so well-crafted, and so well-executed, just to make a stupid game that breaks all of its themes and leaves them meaningless. what the hell was happening in bioware when all the side-content has so much complexity and nuance (mostly tevinter nights), what happened lmao

My two cents on Shogun finale with spoilers:
I think the way this finale was handled can be used as a fine example of how to subvert expectations in the *right* manner. This is not the kind of ending that would make us go WTF after momentary shock value only to disappoint us terribly but an ending which might not be what I - as a show only fan had predicted - but one which makes sense in the longer run like all the pieces of a puzzle falling into place to make a beautiful picture.
The actual event of the battle matters not as much as the actions of the people involved who contributed to its occurrence and affected its results. The wheels of fate are already in motion. We know that, come what may, Toranaga shall prevail. But that is a tale for another day. The one which we have been following until now was about Toranaga fighting against all odds and carefully setting the stage in order to achieve his dream, about Blackthorne who started his journey as an outsider in a foreign and hostile land with less than noble intentions finding a home in that place and about Mariko who patiently strived to fulfill her destined purpose and add meaning to her existence. And so she did. For even after her death, her presence was imbued in almost every scene leaving an everlasting impact on them.
The misleading opening of the episode with an aged Blackthorne who seemed to be back in England reminiscing about his days at Osaka clinging onto Mariko's crucifix was done in a clever manner. I was momentarily led to believe that Blackthorne might get to sail home afterall and I failed to understand why they would do that. But the lines between what was a fleeting dream and reality became abundantly clear when I witnessed Blackthorne letting go of Mariko's crucifix into the oceans. Mariko had become one with her homeland and by living there forever, Blackthorne had become one with her.
The writing of Shogun also shows us how one can make significant changes to certain characters and their relationships that differ from the source material and handle them wisely while adapting a story which is linked to the actions of its key players. Mariko's friendship with Ochiba and Ochiba's regard for her paid off because her death led Ochiba to withdraw her support for Ishido, even if she wasn't going to ally with Toranaga. This particular change from the books affected the plot and in a meaningful way. It's an achievement which certain other adaptations that introduce drastic changes without any regard for the overarching plot cannot boast of.
As a MariThorne shipper, I was left satisfied albeit in a bittersweet sense because while John had lost Mariko, his love for her still persisted. It was heartbreaking but this is a tragedy well done. One that I would remember forever. The last scene was oddly satisfying because, even if he doesn't know it yet, Blackthorne is exactly where he belongs now.
The acting was stellar as usual. Cosmo Jarvis and Tadanobu Asano deserve a special mention for this episode while Hiroyuki Sanada never disappoints. I'm grateful to the entire team of Shogun for delivering a show that I enjoyed wholeheartedly until the very end. And off I go to read the book next.

Hey, I know you're writing more stories but if you have time could you write a oneshot? Y/n is mate of Ao'ung and eldest daughter of Jake and Neytiri and in the battle she dies instead of Neteyam taking the bullet instead of him, I know it is a bit angst but for me it's a good ideašŸ„ŗ
Thank youā¤ļø
Tumblr media
ā€” pairings : ao'nung x fem!reader.
ā€” warnings : avatar the way of water spoilers. angst. character death. mama neytiri suffers again<\3.
ā€” author's note : this feels just like my first neteyam post all over again but different charactersšŸ˜.. anyways this was so fun to write imao, i hope you like it<3
Tumblr media
It was clear Ao'nung was your favorite amongst the Sully siblings. It wasn't said that he never picked on you, but he rarely did it. After all, you're the eldest siblings of the family, which meant your also older than him.
He respects you of course, more than he respects your younger brother, Neteyam.
It was then he grew some sort of admiration towards you, and the situation turned into a blossoming romance between you two. He has seen the way you act differently towards him as well, you were more soft spoken and casual, rather than stoic and fierce.
It was as if he met another version of you when he managed to befriend you. Since you were just a year older, you treat him as if he was some disobedient child when you get the chance. Whenever he's messing around, you'd be the one scolding him and such.
He'd never go against your words though. It would be like playing with fire.
The boy noticed how you acted more like your mother, you were fierce and responsible on the outside, but in the inside you were actually shy and a softie. Imagine his reaction when he saw you get flustered over his words for the first time.
He was in awe, I tell you.
Greatmother, he was so smitten for you. Absolutely head over heels It drove him insane. He even went to his sister once to help him with his feelings, and Tsireya was just as surprised as he was.
He was planning on telling you his feelings soon, but he felt that it wasn't the right time yet. But as he lost his chance, time had gone thin.
"Where are you going?!" Ao'nung harshly grabs your hand as you tried swimming away with your Ilu. Kiri had justed used some weird reef telekinesis earlier to save all your lives, but your mind was on the battlefield.
"To fight!"
Ao'nung sneered at you words, shaking his head. "You can't go out there! Didn't you see what they had as weapons!? You'll be killed!" He hisses, his grip on your forearm tightening.
"I'm fighting for my brothers and sisters, Ao'nung. I was born to fight! This isn't my first battle." You tell him, trying to jerk off his hold on your hand. He let's out a frustrated breath, brows furrowing.
He hesitantly soften his hold on your arm, and you neared him as he did so. Your hand comes up to his cheek, forcing him to look at you. "I'll be back, okay? I promise." You softly spoke.
He watched as you dived down into the water with your Ilu, eyes brimming with irritated tears. Rotxo comes from behind him, grasping his shoulders. "She'll be alright, mate. (name) is a strong girl."
You emerged from the water with a quick breath, ordering your Ilu to swim faster ad you neared the attack scene. There was so much going on, not to mention Lo'ak's tulkun literally slaughtering the people inside the small boats.
Your breath hitched as an Ikran drops from a rock beside you, aiming a spear at the animal until you saw the familiar patterns and colors of the creature. "Mother." You sighed. The woman shouts your name, hastily yelling at you to come on.
You did as you were told, biting your lip as your feet scrapped on the sharp edges of the rocks. Your mother immediately gets back to flight, barely missing the boat that was being thrown onto the rock.
Your fist tightly held your bow has you aimed on the unprotected sky-people, shooting your arrow at one. You grunted as you hear bullets being shot at your direction, and you turned to see the same Avatar from back home.
Neytiri recklessly dodged the shots, and you aimed a spear from the Metkayina clan at him. Your father then emerged from the water, shooting at the Avatar as your spear was sharply thrown at the demon-blooded's Ikran.
The Ikran falls down into the water with a pained hiss, along with the demon-blooded who bonded with it. You let out a yell at your actions, grinning from ear to ear as your mother does the same.
"Mother, fly by that boat!" You instructed your mother, pointing at the said transportation. She immediately does a sharp turn, hastily flying to the boat.
You dropped down at the thick metal right after your mother hands you your bow, surprising the three as you saw your brother already helping them. "Big sister!" Tuktirey let's out a cry, you simply smiled at her as you brought out the sharp knife from your waist-trainer.
"You okay there, bro?" You asked Lo'ak, watching as he rolls his eyes. "Who is the mighty warrior?" You hear Neteyam tease the boy, Lo'ak scoffs, but doesn't hide his obvious smile.
"Come on! Let's not waste time." You scolded the two as they laughed together, hitting the back of their heads as they let out a yelp. Neteyam grabs your hand as you two tried to jump from the boat, but you see Lo'ak at the corner of your eyes go the opposite way.
"Lo'ak!" You hiss. You ran towards him, tugging on Neteyam's hands as he looked at you, confused.
"They have spider, we have to get him." He tells you. You furrowed your brows together, unsure of what to do. He slowly stands back up, obviously serious of what he's saying. "Come on you two, we can't just leave him!" He complains.
Neteyam looks at you, and you groaned in annoyance. "Fine! Skxawng." You sneered, grabbing your bow harshly that it could practically break. Lo'ak grins at your agreement, and you you followed after him into the boat.
You carefully leaded the way as you now had an eye on where spider was. You aimed your bow at a man, shooting immediately when you had a clear path on his head. The sky-people watching spider let's out a yell, and immediately your brothers dropped down, attacking them.
You hung your bow on your back, grabbing the arrow your used to shoot the man in the head as you sharply drew in through the nearest sky people beside you before they could shoot at your brothers.
You grabbed another one by the neck, standing up straight and pulling him up with all your strength, basing his head onto the metal railings on top of you as you head the breaking of glass from his mask.
Grabbing your knife from your waist-trainer, you spot another human struggling to reach his gun. You pushed Lo'ak away as you used your strength and threw the knife at him, watching as the blade jabbed his chest. Lo'ak looks at you, surprised.
You breathed heavily, scowling as you watched a grin form on his face. "You should teach me that move sometime."
"First, we got out of here. M'kay?" You sneered passively. You grabbed his forearm as you dragged him with you, following Neteyam as he heads the way.
You hopped down from the short staircase, watching as Spider does the same. "Thanks guys." The human says. You waved your hand at him dismissively, your eyes scanning the area. Lo'ak spots another demon blood, and raises his gun.
"No!" You yelled. You let out a hiss as you feel a bullet shoot through your hand, making you instantly grab Lo'ak and drag him to the nearest corner to take cover. Neteyam followed right after, watching the bullets hit the metal railings.
"Give me that!" Neteyam grabs the gun from Lo'ak, reloading it as he pulls the trigger, carelessly shooting everywhere. "Go jump in the water!" You told the two boys. They looked at you hesitantly, and you sneered. "Goddamn it, hurry!" You growled.
They instantly jumped down, and your hastily grabbed the gun from Neteyam. "Let's go!" You yelled. He goes after Lo'ak, jumping in. You let out nervous breaths, your ear twitching as you hear the footsteps nearing your direction.
You took big steps forward, running towards the water and diving in. A stinging pain swelled up in your chest, but before you could let out a pained yell, you dropped into the water.
Hurriedly swimming back into the surface, you watched as your brothers celebrate their escape. Tsireya arrives with her Ilu, instructing you four to get on. Neteyam glanced at you as he notices you struggling to swim, his smile dropping.
"(name)ā€”?"
His eyes then lingered at the blood seeping the water near you, and his heart dropped at the sight. "Shit!, (name)ā€“" He jumped from the Ilu, swimming towards you as you struggled to keep your head above water.
"Oh no." Tsireya gasps, gaze on the bloodied water.
"Hold her up!" Neteyam hisses at spider as he placed your body on top of the girls ilu. You growled and slapped Spider's hand away, but then choked when your hand pressed against your chest.
"It's okay, sister. I've got you, okay? D-dont close your eyes." Lo'ak says, stuttering over his words. "Sā€”skxawng. Why would I do that." You hissed harshly, your voice wavering as you struggled to breathe for air.
"Let's go!"
"Butā€” they have Kiri and Tuk." Tsireya speaks up. Your ear twitched at her sentence, you kept a hand on your chest as Neteyam does the same, his hand over yours while he applied pressure.
"Just breathe, sister." Neteyam softly said, his voice wobbling.
Your brother leads the Ilu towards a rock, spotting your father. "Dad! Dad, help!" Lo'ak shouts. They carefully carried your body as they placed you on the rock, careful not to hit your head. Tsireya sobbed at the sight of your bloodied torso, shutting her eyes.
"Fatherā€”" You spoke up, your blurring eyes seeing the figure of your father next to you.
"Shhh," he turns your body over, seeing that the bullet had completely went though your chest. He mutters a cuss as you wheezed for air, coughing and choking as your lungs tightened up from the struggling.
He gestured over Neteyam, grabbing his hands as he instructed the boy to put pressure on your chest. Your brother does as he was told, and you yelled at the feeling of the pressure.
You sobbed at the aching sensations swirling through your chest, eyes blinking the tears collecting in your eyes as it refused to fall from your cheeks. Your mother the arrives after hearing your yell from a small distance, eyes widening at the sight of your blood on your brothers hands.
"No! No, no, (name), don't do this." She let's out a cry, kneeling down beside you. "My sweet girl.." neytiri sobs at your cries, your chest heaving as the pressure Neteyam was putting on your chest only made the feeling worst.
"Maā€”"
Neytiri sharply inhales at your call, her big hands grasping your own as she let's the sensation of your hands caress her cheek, "Yes, ma child? Speak to me."
"I'm sorry." She shakes her head at your words, breaking down. "I'm so sorry, motherā€” I let you down." You heaved for air desperately, watching as your mother sobs harshly.
"No, child. It's gonna be okay, I'm here for you. We're all hereā€”"
"(name)?" Tsireya turned at the sound of her brother's voice. She let's out a tight exhale as she stood up, walking towards her brother as she immediately engulfed him into an embrace.
Ao'nung walks away from his sisters embrace, walking towards you. He kneels beside you, eyes scanning your face as he watches the trails of previous tears make wet patterns on your face. "Ao'nung." You coughed up.
"Shit, just breathe, okay? You're gonna be fineā€” you're fine," Ao'nung continued to convince himself that as he placed a hand on top of Neteyams hand when he saw the bloodied wound. You shake your head with a tired sigh, blinking repeatedly as it was already hard to keep your eyes open.
You smiled at him before your last breath slipped from your mouth, your struggled breathing halting as your choking seized. Neteyam snapped his attention to your face, seeing how you've completely gone cold. Ao'nungs hand twitched as he feels your chest stop beating, blinking repeatedly.
Neytiri cries out in anguish, the palm of her hand touching your face as she cradled your head. "My child!" She exclaims, bringing your head up to her chest as you didn't move a muscle.
Ao'nung's breath trembled as his hand slipped from your skin, looking at the light from your eyes disappear, and it was replaced with a blank, empty gaze. "No."
Tsireya sobbed at his words, watching as he shakes his head repeatedly. "No, (name), you can't do this to me." His voice trembled as he hicced, sniffing harshly. "You promised!" He yells, his voice loud and clear despite your mother's cries.
Tsireye looks down as her brother leaned against her, his head on her shoulder as he sobbed on her shoulder. "She lied."
"Im sorry, brother." Tsireya sympathetically spoke up, wiping her tears as she wrapped her arms around her sobbing brother, feeling his shoulders shake from his trembling cries. "She promised me, Tsireya. She promised to come back." Ao'nung harshly breaths.
Your father looks at the two upon hearing Ao'nung's words, sighing as he embraced his wife was she continued to cry out for you, begging for Eywa to bring you back.
"I didn't get to tell her." Tsireya hushed her brother, cradling him against her as she took in his sobs.

----LOTS OF SPOILERS FOR THE FILM BELOW BE AWARE---
The thing that's driving me kinda CRAZY about the sequel though is how perfectly it sets up a personal arc for Lydia to be intertwined with Beej's. Like I said in my reaction post after seeing the film last night, I feel like Lydia as a character doesn't really get much of an arc or a resolution by the end of the story, as most of the plot is focused on repairing her relationship with her daughter, with Delia, maybe even her ex-husband to a certain extent, and for as much as she's rid of someone actually preying on her (Rory) we have no reason to believe she's found inner peace or really discovered herself or isn't still constantly popping pills to help with the 'gift' of sight she still has to deal with. There's so much about her left unresolved that Tim is either going to have to make another film about or I will have to fanfic about. But again, what's also fascinating is the way the beats of Lydia's story become tangled up with Beej's by the end of this, and also the ambiguous suggestion that there might be some kind of red string of fate linking them together across life and death and centuries (my kingdom for Beej saying "I've crossed oceans of time to find you" in a deep sexy Dracula voice and Lydia being like "plz shut the fuck up" LMAO)
Like, the 'psychic connection'. The thing that makes Lydia able to see and interact with Beej in places other than the house/model in Winter River. At first I think we're led to believe these are genuine hallucinations she's having, but ofc that's debunked when Beej reveals he's aware of these sightings and has been participating in them on purpose. Does this suggest that their first marriage may have been binding in some way that didn't release him from death, but allowed him more range to manifest so long as he was attached to her? That's not really addressed or explained, but I feel like it opens the possibility of being a thing (as so many fanfics have had happen before, I LOVE it tbh)
Also, the parallel of them both having had predatory exes that tricked them into 'selling their souls' (one in a figurative sense, the other literally lmao). I'm honestly shocked more conclusions weren't drawn from that conspicuous parallel in the film itself, because it's VERY interesting. It seems almost to suggest they're both meant to safeguard each other's souls (which is why I'm still bitter we didn't get Lydia defending him from Delores, I think that would've been a nice follow up to Beej saving her from Rory, even if she was just doing it out of a sense of obligation).
And idk, on the whole I feel a lot of Lydia's personal struggle at this point in her life is defined by a need to feel 'normal'. I get how that can seem odd coming from the teen girl that confidently described herself as 'strange and unusual', but this is 30 years later, after several failed relationships, after becoming a mom and struggling with a strained relationship with her daughter because of her oddity, idk, I think it's a good case study on how society forces women to conform lest they be a bad daughter or a bad mom or a bad wife, etc, but I think it's obvious she's just fighting her 'strange and unusual' nature and the more she does that, the more difficult her life will be.
To me, that suggests her path to happiness has actually a lot to do with Beej, or very well could. Who else is going to understand her true nature the way he does? Who else is going to unashamedly encourage her to be balls to the wall weirdo like she REALLY is??? Who else can truly set her free that way??? Like I'm gnawing on wires here yall, if nothing else Tim gave us SO much fanfic material to work with on this one.

Uglies - Movie Thoughts
Tumblr media
On a whim, I decided to start re-reading the Uglies series a couple months ago -- so imagine my surprise when I found out it was getting a movie! Said movie is now out, and it was interesting to watch with the book being so fresh in my head.
Overall, it's... eh. It's not a complete train wreck, the way most critics seem to want you to think, but it is fairly bland and uninspired. It's a very watered down version of the book. It also has the misfortune of feeling like yet another a Hunger Games wannabe, despite the original book pre-dating that series by several years.
Spoilers for everything under the cut.
What I Liked
Based on reviews, I seem to be in the minority here, but I thought the cast was pretty good. People seem to hate Joey King as Tally, but I thought she was fine. Brianne Tju is easily the best in the cast, stealing the whole damn movie as Shay. Laverne Cox also gives an excellent performance as Cable, though I do think she should not have been given that role for other reasons (which I'll get into later).
I've also seen complaints that the characters aren't ugly enough. They talk about how ugly they are and point out their specific ugly features, when they don't actually appear that ugly. And I think everyone complaining about that is completely missing the point. The "Uglies" aren't actually ugly -- they're just normal people, who've been conditioned to think their imperfect features are hideous.
I was honestly unsure how the Pretties would be visualized -- in fact, I wondered if the book would just be fundamentally unadaptable because of it -- but they did a fairly good job. I think leaning on CGI and unnatural affectations was the right way to go. All the Pretties have this uncanny quality to them that suits the story perfectly.
The overall production design was solid as well. I like how Uglyville is all gray concrete and muted tones, while New Pretty Town is shimmering golds. Then upon reaching the Smoke, all the colors of nature finally come through. I do think that could have pushed that last one a little bit more, but it still works well.
Apart from that, I don't really have much to shout out. It's competently written, well-performed, well put together. I know it doesn't sound like I have much praise, but it is a competent movie.
What I'm Mixed On
By far the biggest change from the book is Peris becoming a Special. And I'm torn on it. On the one hand, it does make him a bigger part of the story -- he's honestly not much more than an inciting incident in the book. It gives him and Tally a unique arc that's probably the strongest through-line in the story. On the other hand, the Specials as a concept are so under-cooked (more on that later) and the actor is so bland that it still doesn't quite land the way it's supposed to.
What I Didn't Like
The pacing of this movie is by far its worst issue. We are flying through this plot. There is no time for anything to breathe, for characters to develop meaningful connections, for the bigger moments to feel earned. Some things do make sense to condense -- Tally's journey to the Smoke would have been incredibly boring without her internal monologue, so condensing most of that into a montage makes sense. But I do feel we lost too much. That's where a lot of Tally's characterization comes out, where we can see her bravery and ingenuity -- none of that comes across in the movie.
A lot of important beats are rushed. Tally agreeing to help Dr. Cable is over in a flash. It feels like Tally's in the Smoke for all of fifteen minutes. Tally and David barely interact, so their relationship has no real stake. Everyone is kidnapped by Special Circumstances, and then rescued immediately after. I almost think a 5-6 episode mini-series would have worked better -- but that might have introduced the opposite problem, where everything takes too long.
The movie also has frequent montages that don't really work. It seems like they were trying to show the passage of time, but it just makes everything feel even shorter.
The beginning of the movie has an exposition problem, as well. It opens with a montage explaining the entire setting... before leading into several scenes that also explain the setting through dialogue. We get fed the same details about the surgery and the Rusties and the flowers at least three times at the start, and it gets grating.
As already mentioned, Tally is pretty severely underwritten. In the book, she has a distinct personality and a unique presence. In the movie, she's just the main character because she happens to be the main character. Her intelligence and resourcefulness are pretty much gone.
I also think changing her motivation for going to the Smoke did her a disservice. In the book, Tally goes to the Smoke so she can have her surgery, and because she's convinced herself that Shay needs her help. In the movie, Dr. Cable tells her that the Smokies have a weapon, and she will be saving lives by helping to find them. I think giving her a more selfless motivation robs her of her character arc. She always comes across as someone trying to help, who wants to best for other people, rather than someone who had to consciously learn that.
The Specials are barely even a presence. I'm not sure they were even directly called Specials. People who hadn't read the book would never realize that there was an entire separate status of person here. You never see their disturbingly beautiful faces or their terrifying strength. Considering how pivotal the Specials are to the overall story, especially in the later books, it's really odd not to see them properly established here.
Like I said, Laverne Cox gives an excellent performance as Dr. Cable... but I think they should have thought twice before casting a trans woman. It's not necessarily that there's a trans woman in the villainous role, but that there's a trans woman in the villainous role who specifically wants to force people to have surgeries to brainwash them. Like... did the optics of that really not occur to anyone? At all? I think Cox could have played David's mother, instead.

Thoughts on JJK chapter 270 (spoilers)
Tumblr media
Before I write my thoughts down, I have to confess that they've been tainted by a post I read I after reading the chapter. I decided to write the first part of my review as I had initially wanted to but the second part will discuss the things I read afterwards.
We start the chapter with a beautiful scene of a grave belonging to Tsumiki but my first thought was... what about Tsumiki's soul that had prevented Megumi from killing a girl?
If this is what Tsumiki's end and Megumi's final reaction to that would be, why did Gege bother including her soul as an active character into the story?
I also tried to find the raws to see what exactly was written on her grave. Only her surname? And was it also in English?
After that we get to Tengen and what happened to her and it was exactly here where my thoughts of this chapter went a big šŸ¤ØšŸ˜µšŸ§šŸ¤¬šŸ¤Ŗ
So Yuji just punched her out? And nothing more happened to her? The Culling Games are over? How did that happen? And through which remains would she stay stable? There was nothing left of Sukuna, at least nothing that had gone through Kenjaku's ritual. The only place she would be stable would still be inside Megumi. Her barriers are magically stable as well.
What a... neat ending to all those plot threads...
Tumblr media
Then we come to Maki finding her past helpers and telling them that all the reincarnated sorcerers would be separated from their hosts by Yuji soon and...
That's against established canon. We already had the discussion that the souls of the host's can't be saved because they've been pushed down to complete darkness. Choso couldn't feel the soul of his host anymore and that was how the narrative absolved him from any wrongdoing because now he didn't have to give his body back for ethical reasons and he hadn't made an unethical deal to be reincarnated either.
Only Megumi was said to have a chance of being saved and no one else.
So now I'm here and scretching my head thinking... was Gege so desperate or time constipated to end the manga that he threw that point out? Or is sth else going on here...
Tumblr media
We get Takaba back and he has a suspicious looking partner now, with whom he can do more comedy.
Now I don't think that's the real Kenjaku there. It's more likely that Takaba simply imposed that hairstyle on his new partner because he's missing his short time best friend.
For an actual Kenjaku comeback, he wouldn't have Geto's body anymore. Imo, Kenjaku did have spare bodies lying around he could've fled to at the last second though.
Tumblr media
We get more loose ends being tied up and for Higuruma it's clemency. This is another point in the "everything turns out perfectly good for the good guys" part we have been bombarded with in this chapter.
I'm like, Gege, isn't this too much? Wasn't JJK darker than this? Even Shoko gave up her smokes. The military plot is just "we'll deal with them" and there's no mention of JJ societal instability with the clans falling apart.
Either he really wanted to wrap every loose end up... or
Tumblr media
Gege forgets Megumi's scar on a pretty big panel and we get an anime love complication with one chapter remaining. It was funny though.
Tumblr media
Then we come to the end where we're set up to believe that life of the first year trio will go on as it should've been without those major Shibuya/Shinjuku complications.
Just going on missions and living life like that.
Now, one could accept that kind of ending (why isn't that in chapter 271 though?) But it comes off as so... lackluster and mended with fire after big chunks of the plot were cut off.
After I had finished the chapter, I was the most disappointed at everything that had to do with Tengen and the CG. So Gege sets up that the sorcerer life will continue afterwards. Even without wanting a Part 2, just ending the CG and Tengen's story like that is... unnecessarily boring and wasted space for nearly everything that came before that.
But then I read @thepersonperson post on how the last 3 chapters of JJK could possibly have been an induced dream sequence this whole time.
Induced by Yuji through his ability of creating fake memories right before defeat/death. His own DE is an application of this and Sukuna's strangely similar ability of talking with freshly deceased people in a dreamscape.
When Yuji had first expanded his domain, I went on such a ramble at the time about these strange abilities of them both. What I said back then was that Yuji wasnt an active/aware participant of them but by now he had acquired Sukuna's CT and again a DE.
This could mean that his induced dream sequences could've evolved enough that he became aware of them instead of only pushing them into someone else. In other words:
Yuji is dreaming of his best happy ending.
And here truly experiences that but he can't tell until now that it's a dream. He might very well be lying on the ground now about to die.
The post I linked adds more details to this theory like inconsistent character placements and "mistakes" like Megumi's scar suddenly missing, which would be commonplace in a dream.
That last picture up there with the guy who's supposed to be cursed but it was actually his girlfriend who had her perception of reality altered as well as the name of this chapter, would be the final hints about the last few chapters having been another glitch in perception.
Now only one week is left then we'll get our final answers to JJK. If this dream theory is true, then Gege will establish himself as the biggest troll, either with a JJK 2 or with a tragic ending.
(And if this really comes true, then I don't think I'll manage to escape the spoilers)
But whatever might come and even though I'm meh about the end (as it's presented to us right now) I still love JJK and immensely enjoyed reading, watching and engaging with it šŸ˜„

Kitten: Theory of a "Hunter"
Spoilers for Hunter The Parenting
So Kitten. He is our happy lil Br*tish hunter. He also is always wearing ski goggles, a sweater, and full face covering. Even in the one flashback image we have of him. As always we must acknowledge the DNA this series pulls from: Kitten was the Captain General in TTS, this is why he uses a spear with a gun and a stake at the end in HTP, it's a guardian spear by way of hunter. It was a running gag in TTS that his helmet was never removed, even all of his other garments were. Side tangent, 1. WHAT WAS SHE THINKING 2. I hope desperately Lockwarden and Santodes return in HTP, because both of those characters were immaculate and we didn't get enough of them. Side tangent complete.
TTS acknowledgement aside, let us consider what Kitten might be. In the audiolog between Kitten and Big D, kitten seems to question the existence of some supernatural creatures, like the witch. Yet two of them he is unphased by them being mentioned: The vampires, which makes sense as the family is hunting vamps and Kitten has fought a vamp (important later). And the werewolves. This is the sticking point to me: Kitten not only is unphased about the existence of werewolves, he in fact says "wait hang on you know about werewolves" to Big D. Now that's a might curious, why wouldn't Big D, master-hunter and well known supernaturalist know about werewolves, and even more so, why would Kitten know and Big D not?
My theory is that Kitten IS a were creature. But not a wolf. In World of Darkness there are a few species of shapechangers like the werewolves. The wolves are the most common, but the other kinds know of each other's existence as well. I propose that Kitten is a werecat. Not only this, I suspect Kitten is a specific kind of werecat, a metis (can someone who knows more about WoD tell me is this is pronounced Met-iss, a made up word, or May-tea, a real word for a real world group of people who this does not necessarily apply to). A metis (in world of darkness, not the real world ethno-cultural group) is a shapechanger born to two shapechanger parents. When they are born they come out in their warform, the half-human-half-animal "hollywood monster" form. These shapechangers often have malformations of some variety, and this can include very obvious animal features even in human form. Say for example, cat ears and fur. I think Kitten wears his ski stuff, and has ears on his hood because he is a lil catboy under that hood. As a werecat he would be familiar with the shapechanger culture and practices, he'd know about other shapechangers (notice in the black shuck story at one point he says "and it is [black shuck]" not "and it PROBABLY is", maybe because he actually knows who black shuck is?), and he'd be supernaturally strong. Perhaps even strong enough to overcome a vampire that just fed. Kitten describes his encounter with the vamp at college, with maybe a Ventrue or Torreador vamp (I think Ventrue because he was charismatic but had a need for a violent feeding), while these clans aren't the normal muscle for the vamps, they are stronger than humans. Yet Kitten managed to beat this vampire, even though he was hopped up on blood. I think our lil cat boy was using his own supernatural strength. Another thing mentioned around this story is the tragedy that befell Kitten's parents, which left him with the house. If they are shapechangers, there is the potential that Kitten killed them during his first change, a not uncommon occurence in Garou families. There's also the possibility that his parents were killed in the war that all Garou are fighting, or because they broke the litany (werewolf mascarade) by having a metis child.
Now. Problems. Both Grimal and Markus have cannonically "broken that boy". Now is Kitten a "sorry babe, the ski mask stays ON during sex" type gamer? Or do Grimal and Markus both know? Not sure! Grimal could probably be convinced he was just REALLY into cosplay, I bet. And Markus may have known about Kitten being a cat from their childhood, depending when they first met.
But! This lets me talk more about garou society as evidence for Kitten being a cat. In shapechanger society, a metis is often hidden from the public until they can control their form, so as to not give the game away on werewolves being real. Maybe Kitten was isolated as a child, making it harder for him to interact with other kids when he did eventually get his form *more* under control. Maybe in the time before he was allowed in public, he became a true gamer. Maybe Markus was one of the few kids weird enough to hang out with him. Maybe those lack of social skills brought him closer to Grimal when they first met, two strange weirdos with similar experiences (please Alfabusa don't make Grimal the ghoul, I don't want her to get Arcanum'd)
Also! The werecats have some characteristics in their culture that might explain why our lil cat friend isn't just vibing with the other werecats. Some of the Bastet (Bastet means werecat, Keikaku means plan) are VERY curious lil fellas. They seek out hidden knowledge and talk to other garou clans to learn their secrets all the time. Maybe Kitten became a hunter because of his in-built desire to be a gatherer of lore. This would also explain how he knows all these stories, and finds secrets in games. He just HAS to know these things. This would further explain why he is SO upset about being blacklisted, he wants desperately to be able to study and learn, but has been cut off.
In brief, I believe Kitten is a werecat and his lil sweater ears are not just a fetish thing. He joined the arcanum/our hunters because it's a great way to sate his innate curiosity.
Now something to consider, as many of us know, curiosity does have a certain reputation regarding cats...

Thoughts for The Montkraken Episode
so, I just finished the chapter andā€¦ wow I have a lot to say. I took screen shots for every part I wanted to talk about and I think this rant will be SUPERRRR long so bear with me. Tumblr wonā€™t let me add screenshots so when I have better service Iā€™ll edit the post to add them. These paragraphs are theories and side notes that I wrote after reading a certain section so youā€™re gonna see my thought process throughout the story. As always, spoilers ahead so I recommend skipping this if you havenā€™t read it already.
Alright so I was once a hater of this ship BUTā€¦ the Shobaru shippers may have a point in this guys šŸ˜. LIKE.. I HAVE THE SCREENSHOT OF SUBARU BLUSHING UHHH. That is not a heterosexual stare feller šŸ¤Øā€¦
Tumblr media
AHHHHHHH THE FROSTHEIM DUO ARE BACKKKKK!!! I missed them so so much theyā€™re so silly and deserve the best. Honestly the only two I trust in this school cause I CANT. I literally suspect anyone but them, but Imma be so disappointed if either of them are hiding something. Iā€™ll be sad, but like Iā€™ll help šŸ™„. I was actually so sad when the MC mentioned being the reason they could be in danger like GIRLLLLL DONT SAY THAT PLEASEEEEE. ITS LIKE THE ANGST WITH ADEUCE AND YUU LIKE STAWPOPP. Also when the Vagastorm kids were like ā€œaw yeah Mido wouldnā€™t lie like thatā€ it makes me happy that people can at least trust him enough to be honest and idk I found that kinda sweet :3. Weā€™re also getting a bit of a timeline, like the One-Eyed Sleeping Beauty Murder being BEFORE the clash (sorry if this was already mentioned I donā€™t really remember stuff from the past chapters) which couldā€™ve been a trigger.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also, I feel like theyā€™re trying to tell us that Jiro is Zenjiā€™s brother because when he had that little laugh about the MC being scared of bodies, he said too. When you click the ā€œtoo?ā€ option, he just says that he isnā€™t the one afraid. Itā€™s not Yuri as well cause heā€™s literally a doctor that is in the same room when autopsies are in session. Whatever the case, I assume he was referencing to Zenji, though it being a blurry memory. Little theory tho.
OK SO THIS IS JUST SO FUNNY TO ME. In Chapter 9ā€™s title it says, ā€œGirl Learns Shocking Truth About Monsterā€. I like to think the shocking truth was the fact he didnā€™t shower for 3 days šŸ˜. CAUSE THATS THE PART SHE SOUNDS MOST SHOCKED. Idk that part was silly to me. THEYā€™RE OUTFITS FOR THEIR DORM IS SOOOOOO PRETTY. They ate I fear, a bit more than the other dorms. Also side note, they dropped A LOT of info with just how they word things. For example, Yuri saying ā€œJiro, you are well aware that I will not be associated with those germs AGAIN.ā€ Soooo Yuri was in Frostheim? I donā€™t doubt it bc thereā€™s another line that says ā€œIā€™d rather not recall how bitterly cold that place isā€ which can MEAN TWO THINGS. Iā€™m super sure that theyā€™re implying that yeah, he was, but then something happened blah blah blah.
WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON WITH HYDE AND DANTE??? Like ok bitches, spill your shot to us too donā€™t be shy. So, confirmed by them, Dante and Hyde used to go to school in Darkwick (which I assume the rest of the teachers are too). That explains their back and forth. WHAT REALLY CAUGHT MY EYE WERE THESE LINES.
Hyde: ā€œā€¦You really are a softie, Dan-Dan.ā€ (Haha Dan- Dan)
Dante: ā€œIt would seem that way to someone as cold as you.ā€ (???) ā€œā€¦There are lines that shouldnā€™t be crossed, Hyde.ā€
Hyde: ā€œā€¦Iā€™ll keep that in mind.ā€
WHATTTTT. WHAT ARE THE LINES. GO IN DETAIL ARGHHHHH. This gives us more info on the character individually too. Dante describes Hyde as coldā€¦ DANTE. So, it was obvious that this whole happy go lucky attitude was fake, but I expected to be more like Haruā€™s kind of attitude not like that yk?? now I know how much of a cash grab this game is, but I really hope they arenā€™t going to stretch the story out too long to the point where you have to P2W cause I havenā€™t paid a cent and I donā€™t plan to. I still want to learn more about them and stuff so :(. On the topic of Dante, there was a small flashback where I missed a word in the sentence that Dante said while talking with Alan. ā€œIā€™m the man you supposedly killed.ā€ Supposedly?? Now, I didnā€™t my catch this in my first run, but now itā€™s like wdym supposedly?? Shouldnā€™t you know? This is giving hella Jiro vibes and honestly, Iā€™m getting sick and tired of these characters having a bad memory.
SPEAKING OF JIRO- he seems to have problems remembering things and they come back to him in the very weird moments (honestly a kin moment). I would like the think that heā€™s just suffering from the damages he had to go through from the clash. His relationship with Yuri is soā€¦ sad to me. Yuri seems to doubt him a little bit and I feel like he sees him as just a specimen, not much of a friend. Meanwhile, Jiro smiles a lot to Yuri and listens to him like a master, like thatā€™s what heā€™s supposed to do. NOT AGAINST HIS OWN WILL DONT GET ME WRONG. Heā€™s just so neutral about it it makes me a bit like awwww :(. Theyā€™re cute tho idrc.
Ok moving on to Haku and Tohma. (Ok at this point Iā€™m getting nervous cause why are we seeing so many characters now. Thatā€™s probably just a coincidence). OK THESE TWO HAVE GOT IT GOING. Like thereā€™s tension when you get their chat in the campus but this is like woahhhhā€¦ Also I donā€™t like how Tohma says ā€œour wheelhouse? I see..ā€ it makes me think heā€™s like implying ā€œso you think youā€™re a part of them now?ā€ IDK THATS JUST MY LITTLE STRETCH. Also poor Zenji, heā€™s like ā€œaw yeah I died in vain lolā€ LIKE OUCH.
Nicholas. I DO NOT LIKE HIM. I REPEAT. I DO NOT LIKE HIM FOR A MINUTE OF A SECOND. The only staff I like are the cats, the grocer guy, and MAYBE Dante. LIKE HES SOā€¦ NORMAL?? LIKE THEREā€™S SOMETHING WEIRD GOING ON IK THERE IS. When MC says ā€œI canā€™t believe Professor Nicolas would do something like thatā€ I DO šŸ˜”šŸ™‹ā€ā™€ļø. I am in full support of Yuri finding crimes against this guy.
Also, little other side note, I just realized that Yuri and Jiro have matching earring in opposite ears. Itā€™s so cute.
Ok I might have to go back to the beginning and see what the ā€œgoat like anomalyā€ Jiro is talking about when he mentions the prophecy, cause I said ā€œā€¦ the chancellor is a goat??ā€ BUT ANYWAYS. Speaking of the prophecy, Iā€™ll jot it down.
ā€œThe whisper of the new moon shall lead the champion to the academy on the solitary island. So long as the champion resides there, the world shall be sheltered from profound tragedy.ā€
Stating the obvious here, but this is most likely referencing to the last cutscenes we get when we choose our characters. Iā€™ve checked the cutscenes again and thereā€™s no visible moon, meaning it could correlate to the ā€œnew moonā€ portion. (Search up new moon to see what I mean). Assuming Solitary island means death, that would also help with the theory. So, whoever we chose in the beginning might just be the person who won the Laurel Crown.Honestly, this is just a silly little Drabble for a theory and VERY vague. Maybe the champion resides in the events of the past that we still donā€™t know about but this kinda helps?? Idk Iā€™m just putting what I think at the moment. Iā€™ll probably reread the game so I can get a better timeline. Also, Yuriā€™s rant about demon particlesā€¦ doesnā€™t exactly sit right with me. Were they chosen to be resilient or was it just a birth thing?? Idk but I feel like a lot is missing from his theory. I mean, weā€™re using human logic to a supernatural cause so I donā€™t think pacts acting as allergies would work. If theyā€™re not chosen, could it be that the ghouls can make pacts with more than one demon? I wanna see what happens if that was the case. Please comment if I missed something šŸ˜.
Ok Towa appeared. (Why are we seeing so many characters I donā€™t like this) and we went back to that treeā€¦ WHAT IS THAT TREE?? And what the hell do you mean the fruit grew? What is that fruit supposed to be? An anomaly going to birth?? Is it supposed to represent the houses?? Motivation?? It seems so weird to me cause we just got introduced to that tree last episode. Sighs.
OK REN AND RITSU. WHAT IS GOING ON. I GUESS SINCE THIS IS THE LADT CHAPTER FOR INTRODUCING CHARACTERS BUT LIKE ā€¦ STOP. I feel like something is going to happen with the MC pls šŸ˜. Anyway, those two talking about ramen is so cute please donā€™t ever change you virgin and lizard looking freak šŸ«¶( with love of course). GROCER GUYYYYYYY. YIPPEE :3!! I love that the cat is the owner and not the human lmao.
Also I will always be a MC defender cause she is so relatable. ā€œWhy are hospitals so creepy at night?ā€ GIRL IKKKKKK. Idc what yā€™all say, the fact that sheā€™s normal is keeping me sane from these freaky deaky events. ILOVE NORMAL CHARACTERS! LIKE MATSUDA FROM DEATH NOTE OR THAT ONE GUY FROM MASHELE. Anyways, I love her little comments and everything sheā€™s so silly. Idrc if she doesnā€™t have much of a backbone cause honestly, sheā€™s surrounded by danger so the best she should do is listen to the people that are constantly surrounded by it.
ALSO NEW THING. (Well idk if itā€™s new but yeah).
mention of a Dionysia Breakout. <ā€”ā€” Idk what that is, but it sounds like a little more. I love little details and slip ups thanks characters <3!!
HA! HAHAHHAHAHAHHAHA! I WIN NICOLAS šŸ˜ˆ!!! YOU DO HAVE SOMETHING TO HIDE. AND I WILL FIND IT TRUST YOU WILL BE DELT WITH. I WILL KNOW THE PRIOR PAST >:(!! Also, Moby is being soooo annoying tbh. More character descriptions to add: competitive as a teacher. NO ONE WILL MAKE YOU HATE YOU JIRO ā€¼ļøā€¼ļøā€¼ļø HES SO SWEET He literally asks if weā€™re scared and says we can hang back awwww. Though he doesnā€™t understand much, he can use logic and he can at least understand how we feel. Itā€™s a nice sentiment :)!
I canā€™t take the transformation seriously Iā€™m sorry. Iā€™m still impressed by Yuriā€™s deductive skills and the transformation just sounded like he was constipated.
THE WHOLE BATTLE SCENE WAS EPIC!! MC HESITATING BECAUSE OF LEOS WORDS BUT STILL PUSHING FORWARD. YURI GETTING FLUSTERED. JIRO SMILING AND TRUSTING YURIā€™S ORDERS. THE FUNNY EXCHANGE ABOUT MUSCLE WHEN THEY WERE CARRYING THE POD. Those annoying ass pussy sticks we call Darkwick students šŸ˜”. JIRO LOOKING BADASS AFTER THE SHOT. URGHHHH I LOVE THIS CHAPTER.
HARU AND PEEKABOOOOO!! AHHHHH IM SO HAPPY I SEE THEM AGAIN!! Iā€™m so glad heā€™s going to Hyde too cause Iā€™m not ready. Alsoā€¦ the mermaid thing is so weird. For the Montkraken Mermaid, they seem to refer to it as ā€œitā€ or ā€œthat mermaidā€, but when they speak of the second mermaid, they use personal pronouns like ā€œhe /himā€. Haruā€™s expression as well when he heard someone was abusing mermaid fleshā€¦ itā€™s a new one with a little crease under his eye. Itā€™s such a sad face like, did he know this mermaid personally or was this fear?? Either way, I wanna meet him cause the other one was so pretty.
ā€¦You guys know the ā€œI see who you areā€¦ you are my enemyā€ sound thatā€™s on TikTok or reels or wtv? YEAH THATS SONG WAS PLAYING IN MY HEAD WHEN HYDE SAID WE HAD TO DO A SPEECH. HYDE IM IN YOUR WALLS. URGHHHH I HATE HIMMMMM. Call to action my ass IK either Taiga or Leo are gonna get their asses out of the door after the speech. OR BOTH. Iā€™m starting to tweak.
NOOOOO THE SPEECH IS THE NEXT CHAPTER?? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.
I feel so bad for Zenjiā€¦ like Iā€™m so deadass. Dude he sounds so sad about how heā€™s dead itā€™s so.. URGHHHH. ALSO I CALLED IT. THEY ARE BROTHERS. AHAHHAHA!! Well it was kinda obvious cause everyone thought it too but WOMP WOMP. Also I love his real name, Taro Kirisaki. Itā€™s pretty :)!! But these lines killed me
ā€œand though I have taken my final blow, my brotherly heart canā€™t help but worry for my kin. ā€¦ Not that he has any idea Iā€™m still around.ā€ YEOUCH?? I DIDNT COME TO CRY BROā€¦
Iā€™m tweaking out because of this speech bro. Iā€™m gonna choose the corniest stuff and hope for the best. ā€œI feel bad please stop for me šŸ„ŗā€ headass.
Taiga is officially my enemy as well. I called that shit about him leaving URGH. WHAT A FLIBBERTYJIBBET!! His outfit eats tho so it balances out. LIKE DAMNNNN. HE LOOKS SO GOOD.
DOUBLE?? TRIPLE??? QUINTUPLE???? HELL I MIGHT BECOME A GHOUL TO GET THAT MONEY GOLLY šŸ˜šŸ˜šŸ˜!! CAUSE IN THIS ECONOMY??Also thanks Jin you a real one twin. Bouta split this cash with my wife and Iā€™ll send you a wedding invite.
EDWARD. ED PLEASE. STOP PUTTING ME IN THE SPOTLIGHTā€¦ well itā€™s out now so woopy!! I really wonder what the others have to say about that cause they just gave really vague surprised reactions. Well, Ritsu documented it. I love that little guy please donā€™t ever change you silly.
NUMBER ONE CORNELIUS HATER IDC. Unless I know your intentions I DONT CAREEEEE. YOU ARE AN OPP IT IS ON SIGHT WITH YOU. SAME WITH YOU NICOLAS!! ā€œI didnā€™t know whether to tell you or not Iā€™m sowwy šŸ„ŗā€ CHUPA MI PITO HOE šŸ˜”.
ā€¦ youā€™re telling me I didnā€™t have to do that awful speech because DANTE AGREED?? IM DONE. IM WHOOPING EVERYONE IN THE ROOM AND AURING THE PLACE OUT. FIRST ONES OUT ARE HYDE FOR NOT TELLING ME, NICOLAS, AND CORNELIUS. ARGHHHHHHH. Also, dude, who is that Janitor guy like seriously.
ROMEO??? AND HYDE???? WHAT IS THIS ABOUT BUTTERCUP?? Wdym worked for him?? What is going onā€¦ SPECIAL MISSION??? SHO??? OH NAW. I CANT TRUST NOBODY ANYMORE šŸ˜
Towa crying :(. What does the fruit shrinking have to do with it now?? Iā€™m so confused.
ALRIGHT IF YOU MADE IT TO THE END WOW YOU HAVE DEDICATION. Yeah this is my personal yap session to this chapter and itā€™s so URGH. Iā€™m so excited to see the next chapter and I hope we get to see more and more. Now with the Gala in place, we can finally start WORKING. Based on the timeline, we have about ā€¦ 8 months left?? So hopefully, for MCā€™s sake, she gets cured. BYE BYE UNTIL NEXT EPISODE!!
