They don't really think about Alfred's aging. Well, it's impossible to miss, but they all push it to the back of their minds. Of course, Alfred doesn't remind them. It's his job as a butler (and as a grandfather) to make sure the Waynes are comfortable and happy. So he doesn't tell them when he gets a hearing aid. And they don't notice at first, or rather most of them don't.

Tim and Bruce, in their ever-paranoid states, at first think Alfred is either wearing a wire or forgot to take off his comm. When they realize it's a hearing aid they don't say anything but they do start treating him with more care. They usually stay to the side of his bad ear when out in public, just in case he misses something from that direction that they could intercept. Tim starts allocating a lot of funds in WE to research into hearing loss and accessibility for the hard of hearing. Bruce almost cries (internally of course) whenever Alfred misses something he says. He doesn't want to think about it.

Duke and Cass notice next. Duke treats him a little differently. He wasn't 100% comfortable with having a butler in the first place, but now he doesn't let Alfred do anything for him. Apart from cooking. He'll always let Alfred cook. Cass doesn't treat him any differently. He still acts as if he's as capable as he's ever been because he is. Alfred could still snipe you with a rifle from half a city away if he needed so she doesn't worry.

Damian notices next and tells himself he simply doesn't care. His grandfather is at least a few hundred years older than Alfred and much more capable. Sure, he's also dipping himself in the Lazurus pit as his daily bath, but Alfred can handle himself without that boost. He pretends it doesn't bother him when Alfred needs him to repeat something. And how he looks at their family with a bit too much nostalgia. He pretends it doesn't bother him when Alfred talks about things as if he'll be gone someday. He won't be.

Dick and Jason notice last and freak out. Because oh my God, oh my God, Alfred's actually getting old. Dick spends more time at the manor and tries to spend as much time with Alfred as possible. He coodinates family outings with Alfred and makes sure everyone attends. He invites Selina half the time too, because God forbid Alfred gets too old without seeing Bruce in a happy stable relationship. Jason goes to the cave every time he gets injured, even if it's something minor just so Alfred can fix him up. He pretends like he needs Alfred more than ever and will stick next to him for about a week before thinking he's being a bother and dissapearing for a while. Then he comes back and does it again.

I think people are incredibly unfair to Annabel. But more than that, I don't think Lenore gets half the shit that she probably should for being flaky as hell. Hold your tomatoes, please. So, homegirl agrees to the whole thing, sabotage and all, changes her mind immediately after without telling the relevant party, plays along anyway, flips out on said party because of the sabotage and manipulation that she was very explicitly told was going to take place, and then calls it all off at the starting line without offering a viable alternative. If I had to work on a project with a partner like that, I'd be on the news

I know william and others often accuse Eliza of her AMBITION, AMBITION, AMBITION, but what I've finally understood about her in the last few eps of Season 3 is that it's not just about her career ambitions- investigating is her PASSION.

it almost feels like something she can't control.

it's a part of her personality, her intellectual desires, her curiosity, her calling. It's not just a professional ambition or goal that she can choose to switch to another field or career.

It makes her a more relatable and likable character when I see that it's not bc she wants to 'get ahead in her career at all costs so she'll take a case even if william asks her not to', but it's more of 'I am so passionate and curious about finding who did this and solving something that puzzles me that it's hard for me to say no if you ask me and it's just unfortunate happenstance that you were slightly involved before.'

I realized this bc I was shipping William/Eliza, and thinking how brilliantly crafted the emotional conflict is between why they would WORK TOGETHER SO WELL, but also why they could potentially ruin their friendship.

Bc I thought, Eliza!!! WHY CANT YALL JUST GET TOGETHER!! Is your ambition really so strong that you would let that get in the way of your relationship with William?

Well, 1) ambition is not a flaw, nor is passion, and it just so happens that the path of her passion intersects, often uncomfortably, with william's values and expectations

and 2) william will need to adjust his expectations and POV if he is to seriously consider Eliza as a romantic partner bc she deserves FULL acceptance emotionally, professionally, and aspirational-ly.

also i feel like "adoption bait" jokes are like,, only funny maybe once, and the reality of bruce is actually trying to Not bring in more kids but everyone after jason forced themselves into the family is Way more interesting for dpxdc fics. especially in bad fenton parents aus?

the thing is, bruce has a lot of hesitance with bringing new people in, especially kids because 1. they will not be safe even if they don't become vigilantes 2. they can't be trusted 3. it's a lot harder for everyone to hide who they are if they bring a civilian in and 4. bruce now feels responsible for the life of Another kid. like,, i get why people make the adoption jokes, but i think the angst potential is so much more interesting than "bruce and co immediately want to adopt danny".

like can you imagine an au with bad fenton parents and danny is still a teen and he's heard about how bruce/batman brings in sad cases. maybe, just maybe this guy could actually help him? give him a safe home? or maybe danny doesn't want to be adopted right away but slowly bonds with the family and eventually wants to be included. the heartache knowing that bruce doesn't want that to happen. like?? hello!!!

I feel he COULD convince her to be his wife [roflmao. pfft. or to be partners] and maybe for her to even set up shop [she is a guild artisan! i don't remember what i said she does. actually, i don't think i ever picked ... but she's a dwarf. something with hammers.] while he does the teaching.

As for the "BAD" ending. I actually don't know where they would be. As a pair. I feel maybe Gale would go off and Sek would just go one doing what she's still doing. On the road, stealing, making stuff. Etc. While she's his match in curiosity -- Gale's much more ... hubritic than she. So. We'll see. ROFLMAO. This is a whole load of nada, sorry.

Kaeliana: If I have my way, she and Wyll will be Grand Duchess and Grand Duke of BG. With a load of adopted kids.

Elkantar: Dead. There is a slim chance that might not be the case, depending on his romance and how that goes. I'm still early in his PT [actually restarted it bc I wanna recruit Minthy sans grove slaughter] but Elkantar is based a previous character -- and I feel given how the world works here, given his goals, given the current path the crew's on ... he's more likely to die once fulfilling his vengeance quest or post the final battle.

But who knows. Maybe whoever is his romance [seeming like it will be Gale] might convince him different.
