Giving up, you just try to motion for them to stay still, your hands gesturing like trying to calm a wild animal.

They give you questioning looks, and you begin to walk off, they all seem to immediately start discussing something with each other. All of the gods look very conflicted, and after a minute of you getting further away (yes, you’re almost home free, Xiangling here you come! ) Nahida skips to catch up with you.

She gives you a beaming smile, and you can’t bring yourself to not return it. She's so much cuter in real life, even the official art didn't do her justice.

You make your way towards the restaurant, finally.

And apparently you’re happier than you thought to smell the savory scents flowing out of the kitchen because your stomach growls loudly.

You’re too hungry to even attempt to stop it, no one will care, except Nahida’s eyes go wide. She begins to sputter, and flail her hands desperately trying to charade an apology at you.

okay but the real answer is its all very complicated for me there are different levels of hate and theyre all very contrarian so like

heres a handy dandy venn diagram of hate for all of us who need visuals (me i need visuals) to understand what type of hate we are dealing with here

"geographical based" hate can range from "my sportscity has a rivarly with yours"/"my sportscity is ritually beaten by yours in a big public humiliation spectacle and im tired of it" to "i hate that city/state i think they should be blown off this earth and we would be better off for it"

"media coverage based" hate can range from "i think your social media presence is annoying"/"i roll my eyes when panels bring up these teams in discussions" to "the people you employ/give access to cover your team are awful it pisses me off and its a waste of journalism"

"i just hate you go die" hate is as the tin says i hate you (many reasons that can fill out a laundry list)! go die!

there are naturally also special categories in here too such as

"i dont hate YOU i hate going AGAINST you" is self explanatory or "i temporarily hate you for a small timeframe but once this game is over i will go back to being fond of you but holy shit IT SUCKS PLAYING AGAINST YOU WHY ARE YOU THE WAY THAT YOU ARE"

if you notice team-in-laws (teams that my bestie like/we BOTH like but AREN'T our teams/is her government assigned sportscity so we are legally required to watch games as she is with mine lest we get taken out by a sniper etc etc) slot into those 2 special categories: ducks, wild, sabres. and i like/enjoy most players on those teams. pens wouldn't be a team-in-law for me but it would be for her since theyre my second favourite team but the way i like them is very different from the way i like the cats. i am completely insane about my kitties (gestures towards the blog) as you can see. the pens is like... 50% of that actually maybe even a little less?

anyways thats for general team hate, for player hate, which you didnt particulary ask but i do have to establish hate philosophy to set up which players i like enough to go out of my way to watch a game theyre in because its hard to differentiate them from their team identity since theyre so intrinsically intertwined at the root of it and usually just scrolling on twt i will consume some sort of content from every player whether highlights or charming clips and go "hmm cool" but not feel much other than that about it.

like do i like jarvy? yeah i think hes fucking hysterical! the gee snsd edit lives in my head rent free its a masterpiece that single handely worked than any other propaganda. do i go "wow the canes are playing rn my parasocial best friend i should go drop everything and go watch that" absolutely tf not id rather shoot my foot than watch a canes game if one of my teams arent playing are you insane

so players i really like outside the conditional clauses in above mentioned blocks of texts there are few and far in between... but as of late zetterlund has charmed me and while i turned on sharks games to watch shaken macaroni martini and the kid named dogfood like everyone else is when i had nothing else to do because theyre fun! its fun hockey!! (when theyre not going through the horrors of sharks hockey) i think my twt algorithm kept putting zetterlund in front of me and eventually i imprinted like a little duck on him so now i just find myself turning on games and focusing on him. and thats the best example i can really think of as of now.

i went into it with pretty low expectations because everyone kept on calling it a shitshow. it's not bad per se, but it wasn't good either. it was.. meh. 2.5/5.

afaik ID takes place in 2006, and RE4 in '04. so why tf does Leon look like he's at least 40??

that honestly fucked it up timeline-wise for me. was the show purposely designed not to fit into the timeline in any way whatsoever a la "welcome to raccoon city"?

if that's the case, Leon and Claire still somehow are able to remember the events of Raccoon City in this timeline.

my brain can't come to a logical conclusion over the timeline, so i'll leave it at that.

i wish they gave Claire more screen time. they did her so dirty imo.

what were they trying to set up with Claire and Leon's interactions? a loveteam? if this was so, what even was their last conversation in ep 4?

i love how President Graham believes anything as long as Leon is involved. in ep 1 when Leon's late: "it's fine bc you saved my daughter." in the last ep when Patrick tells him that Wilson was behind everything and cites Leon as source, Mr. POTUS decides to wing his speech ON THE SPOT just because of that fact. what if Patrick was making it up? that really would have fucked up international relations and all that. i don't know. Graham really loves Leon i guess.

going off of that, i wish we got to see more of Patrick. i would have loved to see him interact more with Leon.

i have no idea if a Season 2 would be able to salvage/explain the plot, but honestly i don't think the series deserves a Season 2. it might be a waste of time and money plus an even bigger disappointment to fans.

alright, onto performances.

Nick Apostolides to me sounds like someone who's breaking in a new pair of shoes. it sounds like he's still getting used to walking in them and therefore tries different things (which i find ironic since he'd already voiced baby faced rookie cop Leon S. Kennedy atp, but also understandable as Leon sounded young in that game). he's all over the place imo. he sounded like RE2R Leon, RE4R Leon, and someone else entirely throughout the four episodes. but as you said in another ask, he really made up for it in RE4R. solid voice acting all around imo.

Ray Chase. before i saw him here i knew him as Neuvillette (aka "according to the judgment of the Oratrice Mecanique d'Analyse Cardinale") in Genshin Impact. his line delivery is stellar. i hope that's also him voicing mutated/infected Jason because he sounds fantastic there. but there's a line that he says there that sounds so awkward because the delivery is so sped up that the emotion is gone.

Stephanie Panisello also voices Claire in RE2R, but i haven't seen too much of her there to compare it to her performance here. i will say, however, that i honestly enjoyed her performance here, but there are times when she sounds like she's holding back a bit. it would have been perfect if she let go a little bit more.

Jona Xiao as Shen Mei was also great, but i think she also suffers the sams problem as Stephanje in that she sounds like she'a holding back.

Doug Stone as Wilson was perhaps the most enjoyable for me, as well as Billy Kametz who voiced Patrick.

no. just because leon's character model looks bad doesn't mean that the story exists out of universe. it takes place in 06 and is part of the regular OG canon timeline. period.

both explanations are correct. ID adds a new dimension to the running "OG Leon is a Fucking Slut Who Can't Actually Score" gag by making him an actual homewrecker this time around. but ultimately yes it was to show the locket.

this is the best moment that OG leon has in the entire series and i'm not joking. it's not the best in the sense of "this is when he, as a person, is at his best." it's the best in the sense of "this is the only moment in the entire series where we get to see leon do his Actual Job and know what he Actually Does outside of outbreak incidents, and it serves to add more context and perspective to so many other facets of his character." i could write an entire fucking essay about this scene/moment. god.

i know we have this thread every week but it winds me up in a way that few other things do because, when you think about it, the audacity to tell a stranger "i know you think you experienced misogyny, but since you're a binary transgender man* (and therefore have always been a man, something that applies to every binary transgender man in the world) you actually experienced misdirected misogyny that wasn't meant for you because you're not a woman. hope this helps :)" is so profoundly presumptive and insulting

some of us are older than you and grew up in a much more transphobic world! some of us did not grow up in liberal areas! for some of us, it was impossible to access trans care until we picked up and moved our lives to somewhere more accepting! and *shockingly* some of us have not always ID'd as men, and to retroactively re-frame our sometimes traumatic experiences with misogyny as "misdirected" is just so. i keep coming back to this but it's just plain insulting.

i identified and presented as a woman most of my childhood! i couldn't present as anything BUT a woman even after i stopped IDing as one for my safety! i started transition as an adult seven years ago! my hometown was so conservative that they had their first, sparsely attended pride event four months ago this past june!

i had grown men sexualize me as young as 14. i experienced sexual harassment and unconsentual touching from my peers even younger. men joked about r*ping me to my face! who tf is anyone to tell me that didn't count as "true" misogyny. because it sure as shit was directed towards me. even the current wave of transphobic backlash uses misogynistic language towards all transgender people, including trans men. when transphobes infantilize us, frame us as "confused young women" suckered into an ideology we couldn't possibly understand, that's misogyny! when transphobes discourage us from transitioning because it will devalue our one asset: our beauty, when they discuss top surgery as a mutilation and mourn our breasts over our physical and mental health, that's misogyny!

the fact that i'm now a man does not change that fact and i wish more people allowed room for nuance in these discussions. if it clashes with your understanding of the gender binary, good! it should! it reeks of too much theory and not enough interacting with irl trans people. it's a vast oversimplification of the lived experiences of lots of trans people. there are thousands of ways to be an enemy of patriarchy.

*i am aware that this affects other trans men and transmascs who are not binary men but i'm using binary men here to make the point that even if 'woman' is zero part of your identity this still applies
