the problem of coming from the high octane shipwar hell of ff7twt to being a ride or die for two white, straight people that i insist are in a metaphorically gayer relationship than a mixed-race married straight couple is that i'm so shipwarbrained that the only basis i consume media through is how much emotional torment can i go through by choosing the less-liked romantic pairing and talking about how stupid it is that they're less liked because the story clearly likes them more and it's just the dipshit fans who have a problem with it. also no one cares about what i'm saying so it makes me feel very stupid for saying it but i can't help that the only media i like is either about people whose lives suck so much they end up killing themselves or about two people loving each other through the worst experiences of their lives collectively. like what's even the point of life if i can't romanticize it.

Spoiler Warning for Transformers One. Please go see the film, it's great.

Something occurred to me when rewatching Elita-1's firing scene:

Right off the bat, she's presented as an absolute unit in the mines. We see her being a very by-the-book character. She's incredibly competent, strong, serious, focused, and an effective leader.

Maybe a little too effective.

We learn that Sentinel goes out of his way to personally take care of any "anomalies" in his system and does so in a way where the blame always gets shifted away from him.

It's why he personally went to see Pax and D-16 after the Iacon 5000 race. He makes himself out to be the open-minded, compassionate leader he's been parading as.

When Darkwing throws Orion and D-16 into sub-level 50, neither bot suspects Sentinel for their demotion. In fact, they beg Darkwing to talk to Sentinel so he can sort out the "misunderstanding".

It's later confirmed that Sentinel never had any intention of talking with Orion or D-16 after their first meeting. When Orion reunites with his fellow miners later in the film, they mention that Sentinel put out a statement saying that they both died from "racing injuries".

Sentinel might've not even openly ordered Darkwing to dispose of them. Darkwing might've been manipulated into thinking everyone was mocking him for losing the race (thanks to lowly miners) making him want to get rid of them.

Subconsciously manipulating someone like Darkwing would've been easy for Sentinel.

Sentinel clearly does not tolerate anyone rising above the station he imposes on them.

So what does this have to do with Elita-1 being fired?

We see her rigidly following the rules, meeting all quotas, running a tight and efficient crew. She's doing her job as a miner, a role unknowingly forced upon her by Sentinel, perfectly.

Shouldn't Sentinel be happy about that?

Well sure...

If Elita wasn't actively trying to get promoted.

We don't get a lot of information about how promotion works in TFOne's mining system, but we do know that in other iterations of pre-war Cybertron, one of the only ways miners could rise out of the mines was by participating in ridiculously difficult gladiatorial fights in Kaon's pits.

In other iterations, this was how D-16/Megatron was able to escape his station and how he grew to be so strong.

So basically, whatever version you look at, the miners are told "if you work really, reeeeally hard, and do your job perfectly, and don't die in the process (which, odds are, you will) you might, MIGHT get a chance to get out of the caste you were born into."

It's BS.

It's an impossible feat. No one is actually supposed to be able to achieve that goal, but it's the metaphorical carrot dangling in front of the work mules so they don't notice the ever-tightening rope around their necks.

But every so often there's someone extraordinary, like Elita, who actually manages to meet this impossible standard and with whom it becomes increasingly difficult to deny this coveted promotion.

So what can Sentinel do about bots like Elita-1?

Simple.

Wait for a screw-up.

It must happen eventually.

A member of Elita's team, Orion Pax, in clear violation of evacuation protocol, goes back into the mines to save Jazz from getting crushed to death.

Despite managing to escape, the closing mine causes a tunnel support to be flung into nearby machinery (which doesn't look critical and could probably be easily fixed).

Then, right the heck outta nowhere, Darkwing drops in, SECONDS AFTER THE INCIDENT JUST HAPPENED, and immediately fires Elita.

No "What happened?" or "Who's responsible?" or "The supervisor wants to see you", he just pops into the scene and demotes Elita, arguably one of the best workers in the mine, to a bottom-tier waste management position.

As if he'd been on standby, actively waiting for a reason to fire her.

"But Elita herself wasn't the one who screwed up!"

Doesn't matter.

"But she told them to follow protocol!"

Doesn't matter.

"But Orion admitted he was the one at fault!"

Doesn't matter.

"But a bot was saved! Jazz would've died!"

Does. Not. MATTER.

Her firing is presented as the typical "one character says thing won't happen then thing immediately happens" joke, but given how so much thought went into so much of TFOne's background details, I can't help but wonder if this was a hint to how broken the system was and how it was always rigged in a way that ensures the miners will never get out.

Not to mention, once Orion, D-16, and Jazz safely escape, she chews Orion out by saying, "If I get fired for this..." meaning this abrupt, out-of-nowhere, baseless firing is absolutely typical.

That's what makes Elita's "I'm better than you" speech to Orion that much more meaningful, because in many ways, she is better than him.

She's a better worker, better fighter, better at completing the task at hand, better at making sure things run smoothly. She is, ironically enough, an efficient and perfectly-running machine.

But had Orion not dragged Elita to the surface, she probably would've spent her whole life obediently following the rules, never questioning why things were the way they were. She was so focused on rising up within the system that she could never look beyond it.

Elita might be the cog by which other cogs turn.

But Orion is the spark that shows them a better way.

That's why he was given the Matrix.

Thus, when a celestial dragon attacked the sunny and remembered you, the entire crew was taken aback by the unexpected turn of events.

⭑Luffy would be SHOOK amid the battle and pause for a bit.

⭑He'd turn and look for you, looking for an affirmation.

⭑Would shout your name a million times until you say something.

⭑When you said yes he'd have mixed feelings (sad and mad generally). Questions would start popping up, leaving him wondering why you hadn't said anything from the beginning.

⭑After he's done with the celestial dragon, he'll drag you and push you to talk.

⭑After your explanation, becoming the pirate king and destroying all the celestial dragons would give him more reasons to do so.

⭑Zoro wouldn't hear about you being a slave. He's either lost or focused on eliminating the marines guarding the boat.

⭑So when he returned to the ship and noticed the uncomfortable atmosphere, he would be perplexed and ask what had happened.

⭑He's not good with words and comforting so he'll just shrug about it.

⭑But he'd still be worried of course. He'd mutter "You can talk to me when you need someone, you know?"

⭑You turned around, making sure that he said it. But he'd turn and walk away.

⭑He's blushing inside and out so I hope you'll take his words seriously!

⭑Unlike Zoro, Nami would be mad AFFF.

⭑She's not just mad at the celestial dragon but also you! The Straw Hats are a family, and there should be no secrets.

⭑Big sister mode activated: When you need to open up, she will be there to provide comfort and gently guide you through the process. She will support you by holding your hand and ensuring that you feel safe and supported every step of the way.

⭑After you're done explaining, she'd try to distract you about the past and would do shopping with you and Robin.

⭑Would def give weird stares to the celestial dragons the crew would meet.

⭑Whether it was true or not, he directly attacked the celestial dragon.

⭑No female should ever go through that pain. Even if he hadn't experienced it, he knows how hard it would've been.

⭑He'd shower you with praises and affection. "You did so good holding it all up..." or "You're here with us now. You can always rely on us..."

⭑He was also the one who filled Zoro up on what was happening.

⭑Would look at you from time to time to see how you're doing.

⭑ Chopper would be SHOCKED and worried.

⭑He starts thinking about the pain and wounds that you’ve gotten. It clicked to him and finally realized why you used to have a lot of scars on your back + arms.

⭑While you’re explaining to the crew your experience, Chopper went to his office and made some anti-anxiety pills ‘cause he doesn’t want you to suffer anymore. (Robin had to kick him out).

⭑Would look at you endearingly and hold your hand around the ship. He just wants to make sure nothing bad will happen to you!

⭑Other than that, Chopper would still act normal and do some silly stuff with Luffy and Ussop.

⭑Robin is Robin. She already had some suspicions about your past, but she wants to hear the truth directly from your mouth.

⭑When she heard what the celestial dragon said she was a bit shocked. Yes, she had thought about it, but another person who suffered from the world government?

⭑She wanted to hold you right then and there.

⭑If Nami’s sitting on your left then she’d be on your right. She’d pat your back and make you some tea. (Ussop’s coffee did not make it😔)

⭑After the talk, she became your therapist (w/h Nami. 2 heads are better than one they say.

⭑Will try to keep an ear out for you when you disappear on her POV and in an unknown place. (Yes an EAR)

⭑Franky was SUPERRRR shocked. Like Robin, he knew you were hiding something either. But he didn’t push through. Your business is your business.

⭑Would be the one bombing the celestial dragon’s ship.

⭑While you were explaining your past, Franky was crying loudly and was playing sad music in the corner. (He had to get moved since his crying ws louder than ur voice)

⭑After the incident, nothing major really changed your dynamic.

⭑You both were still goofy and you’d still do the “SUPERRR” pose with him.

⭑But even so, Franky is still glad that your past didn’t affect the present negatively; instead, it made you stronger.

⭑Brook is another person who'll be shocked.

⭑He didn't think much about everyone's past. He likes to mind his own business and when someone opens up to him, he'll listen wholeheartedly and give some advice.

⭑So when you open up to the whole crew he'll just listen. He'd give some side comments here and there but that's that.

⭑Like Franky, nothing would change with your dynamic. He might be a little protective but he knows that you could handle yourself.

⭑The moral of the story is to find someone like Brook.

⭑He's Luffy but 10x worse when it comes to the celestial dragon topic.

⭑He was never captured as a slave, but as a member of the Fishman species, he understands the immense hardships that must have been inflicted upon them. Being subjected to torture at the hands of one's kind was an even more maddening experience.

⭑But even so, Jimbei would be happy that you're finally free and is with the crew.

⭑After your discussion with the group, he would politely excuse himself and usher you into a private conversation. His demeanor would resemble that of an older brother, emanating a deep sense of care and understanding, while also imparting his valuable knowledge.

leighton didn't know what to do.

her best friend was ignoring her. y/n hadn't talked to her in three days. and leighton was absolutely clueless. 

she had tried to reach out to y/n's roommates to figure out why she wasn't talking to her but none of them could tell her either. the blonde was picking her brain for everything she might have forgotten. 

birthday? nope.

friendiversary? nope.

she couldn't think of anything. she had even talked to alicia about it and her girlfriend just shook it off to y/n going through something. alicia reassured her that she would be fine and offered to take her girlfriend out for the weekend to cheer her up. as much as leighton didn't wanna leave, maybe this is what she needed. so, her and alicia packed a couple of bags and drove to new york for the weekend.

back at essex, y/n was in the weight room. it was well past midnight but y/n's thoughts were racing. she kept curling the barbell in her hand. 

all she could think about was leighton. 

how she smiled when y/n made a bad joke.

leighton was a storm that was just waiting to unleash her power. y/n still hadn't talked to her and of it wasn't for alicia taking her on a date every night this week, y/n would've already faced the wrath. 

y/n was in her dorm watching youtube, doing her homework when there was a loud knock on the door. groaning, she got up and out of her room, fully expecting one of her roommates to be on the other side.

boy, was she wrong.

leighton stood on the other side, angrier than y/n had ever seen her. the girl gulped audibly as the blonde pushed her way into the room. "oh, sure, invite yourself in why don't you?" the blonde turned her death glare back to y/n. "yeah, it's the least i can do after my best friend practically ghosted me for no reason for a week!" 

y/n rolled her eyes and went to go back to her room when leighton stopped her. "what is wrong with you this week? you haven't talked to me, you've actively avoided me, and whitney told me that you seemed tired in practice all week. care to explain yourself?" y/n sighed. "no, i don't care to explain myself leighton. wasn't aware you had gone low enough to get your roommate to spy on me."

leighton scoffed. "can you blame me? now, i'm calling for a mandatory sleepover so i can pick that brain of yours and figure out what's going on." y/n shook her head. "don't you have a girlfriend to attend to?" leighton looked at y/n confused. "no, she's at the center tonight doing slam poetry. why would i have to attend to her?" 

y/n shrugged. "i don't know, just seems like you guys are attached to the hip and she refuses to let you do anything on your own." leighton's jaw dropped at y/n's words. did y/n always feel this way? had leighton been a bad friend?

"what do you mean? are you jealous of our relationship? i told you i could hook you up with someone, y/n. why didn't you tell me?" y/n avoided the question. "leighton, i have a ton of homework to do. go back to your dorm." leighton shook her head. "no, we need to talk this out. are you jealous of me and alicia?" after a few minutes of back and forth, y/n finally snapped.

"you know what leighton? yeah, i am jealous. i'm jealous that alicia is the one who gets to hold your hand in public. i'm jealous that alicia gets to take you on dates. i'm jealous that she gets that smile of yours that you used to only reserve for me." leighton stood shocked but y/n kept going.

"i'm jealous she gets to kiss you and sweep you off your feet and treat you like the princess you are. but most of all, i'm jealous that she had the courage to ask you out before i did." y/n had tears streaming down her face, as did leighton. the blonde's voice cracked as she tried to walk towards y/n. "y/n..i-i had no idea. i-" 

y/n held her hand up. "just go leighton. i can't do this right now." and with that, she turned, walking into her bedroom, shutting the door behind her, leaving a crying leighton in the common room.

the blonde grabbed her purse and went back to her dorm.

Lee Serim was literally counting the seconds until the school day was finally over, and she had to pull herself together just to survive it patiently. The mere thought of what was awaiting her later made her hands instantly start to sweat, and a wave of nausea hit her.

„Yah, what are we doing later today?" Gotak's voice snapped her out of her thoughts as the two of them stood in the cafeteria line to get their lunch. The girl hadn't been listening, her mind elsewhere—or more precisely, on someone else—when she looked at him, startled, a confused expression on her face. Gotak quickly realized his best friend hadn't been paying attention and clicked his tongue in annoyance.

„Man, what's wrong with you lately, Serim?" he asked, concerned. When she just kept staring at him and didn't answer, he rolled his eyes in frustration, slowly growing impatient. The problem wasn't that Serim didn't trust him. On the contrary, she would've trusted Gotak with her life—he had proven his loyalty to her plenty of times. That wasn't the issue. The issue was that she simply couldn't tell him because she knew what kind of consequences it would bring. Only after changing schools had she truly realized how dangerous this "Union" business really was. The boys had explained their activities to her and told her just how immoral everything about it was. And as if that wasn't bad enough, Seong-je had to be one of the founders of that horrible system. Baku was always in a bad mood whenever the topic of the Union came up, which was why they all avoided talking about it whenever they could. Sure, the friend group had been confronted a few times by Union members, but each time the teens had fought back and were usually left alone afterward—no one dared touch them again. Atleast not until a new guy was naive enough to try again and learned his lesson the hard way.

It wasn't until a year into their friendship that the boys found out what had happened between Serim and Seong-je. When she finally told them everything, they were shocked. The boys simply couldn't imagine a time when Seong-je wasn't driven by hatred and greed but could actually be loving. Especially Baku, who had known him the longest, didn't believe a word at first. But eventually, he realized she had nothing to gain from lying, and her honesty became clear. From the moment she confessed, the boys never let her walk anywhere alone at night again—especially not in areas where gang members usually hung out. Their protective instincts were no joke. Just hearing Seong-je's name made them instantly tense up. They were also one of the main reasons there was never another meeting between Serim and Seong-je. Even if she had wanted to meet him, the boys would've ruined that plan and stopped her from going through with such a reckless idea.

Trying her best to steer Gotak away from the topic, Serim brought up the new student who had transferred that day. She told him the guy seemed strange and incredibly cold. She had also overheard whispers from other students saying he had put someone into a coma—but Serim didn't believe that. If it were true, she figured she'd find out soon enough anyway.

Gotak knew she was trying to change the subject, but he also knew that forcing her to talk wouldn't work. If Serim had been ready to open up, she would've done it on her own. So he just looked at her gently and listened patiently. He wrapped a protective arm around her shoulders and ruffled her hair, which earned him a hard slap against his head. He didn't bring the subject up again.

She had no idea how she'd made it through the day, but somehow, she was still alive—though she'd honestly have preferred not to be. If she weren't alive, she wouldn't have to deal with all her problems, most of which revolved around him. The entire school day, she had been wondering what to do, because there was no way she wanted to go to that meeting. She knew nothing good would come of it—Seong-je attracted trouble like a magnet. No matter where he went or what he did, he always ended up in a fight or some kind of dirty business. Serim never wanted to be part of any of it. Still unsure, she pulled her school bag closer and sighed loudly. The weather was sunny and not cold at all—just how Lee Serim liked it. Unfortunately, she didn't get to enjoy it for long.

She had finished her long training session and quickly taken a shower before blow-drying her hair and slipping into fresh clothes. She tucked her hair behind her ears and threw on a cardigan before slinging her training bag over her shoulder and leaving the locker room. The training had drained the last of her energy, and all she wanted now was to crawl into her cozy bed and never get up again. The fact that she had barely slept the night before made that idea even more appealing.

When it came to training, her father never showed her mercy. He always emphasized how unsafe the area was and kept pushing her beyond her limits. Gotak and Baku hadn't come to training that day, both caught up in private matters, and Serim had missed them. It never took long for her to start missing her friends. Seeing them every day felt so natural that it always felt off when they weren't around. With a heavy heart, she left the gym and sent a quick message to the group chat the trio shared:

"Just finished training. I'll text you when I'm home."

Baku replied immediately, telling her to be careful and to call him right away if anything happened. Serim smiled at his protective instincts and glanced quickly at the clock on her phone.

8:14 PM.

Her heart skipped a beat, and she considered calling Baku after all, uncertain of what might be waiting for her once she took just a few more steps. Seong-je hadn't sent her another message, but Serim was smart enough to know he'd never leave it at that. She knew that no matter where she went, he could show up at any moment. With ears sharp and alert, she left the street where the gym was and headed home.

She checked every corner three times and expected someone to appear at any moment, avoiding all eye contact with strangers. She had to be as paranoid as possible—otherwise, she wouldn't make it home tonight. Serim acted like someone on high alert, and a few people were already giving her odd looks, but she didn't care. Her safety came first, and as long as Seong-je was still alive, she would never be safe on the streets at night. Not from strangers—but from him.

Serim was about five minutes from her apartment when she suddenly saw a shadow between her legs. She whipped around instantly. Her heart was racing, and her body went into survival mode as she gripped her bag tightly and prepared to fight off whoever was following her. But when she turned, no one was there—just a small black cat with white spots circling around her legs and meowing loudly.

Still breathing heavily, Serim took a deep breath, trying to calm herself down.

False alarm.

She immediately dropped to her knees and began petting the super cute cat. Cats were her absolute favorite animals, and she could never resist them. Unfortunately, her father had a cat allergy, so she could never have one of her own, which made her sad every time she thought about it. If it were up to her, she'd rescue and adopt every stray cat she saw—but that was just wishful thinking. Reality looked a lot different. Smiling happily, she sat there, now rubbing the cat's belly as it rolled onto its back, clearly enjoying the attention. She quickly pulled out her phone and took a photo before starting to talk to it in a baby voice.

She completely lost track of time and didn't even notice someone quietly stepping up behind her—until this time, she really did see a shadow behind her. Her heart stopped. Damn it. She hadn't been careful enough. Her heart stopped for a second and she cursed herself out for being this reckless. Serim didn't even need to turn around to know who it was. She could feel it. His presence was unmistakable.

„You didn't come."

That was all he said. His voice was rough, and she could hear the cigarette which was sitting in his mouth.

She fought with everything in her not to turn around and look at his ridiculously handsome face. She had never been able to resist him.

Without a word, she gave the cat one last stroke, took a deep breath, stood up quickly, and started walking—without even giving him a glance. She heard him hiss quietly behind her, then the sound of a cigarette hitting the pavement, followed by a hand grabbing her wrist, pulling her back. Serim tried to yank her arm away, but he was faster and stronger. He always was. Seong-je turned her toward him, forcing her to face him.

Seong-je looked deep into her eyes and said nothing at first. Oh how much she had missed that beautiful face of his. His grip didn't loosen even though Serim tried hard to break free. He weirdly seemed to cherish this encounter between the old lovers.

„Let me go, what the fuck!" she snapped angrily, pulling harder at her wrist.

This time, he let go—and because she hadn't expected it, she couldn't catch her balance in time and fell flat on her butt.

Those were the first words they had exchanged in two years, face-to-face, and they ended with her on the ground.

In her dreams, the first words would have been more romantic—but reality, as always, was far more brutal. She looked up at him and saw that stupid smirk on his face, which only made her angrier. She harshly balled her fist and it took everything in her to not just hit the damn ground she was now sitting on.

„You could've just told me you missed me. You didn't have to get on your knees for it, baby," he said teasingly, slowly kneeling in front of her. That smirk never left his face, and Serim saw red. Hi! So, as I said before this is the author's note for the Error 410 fanfic. There are a lot of things that will be included in this note. But I will divide it into sections so it's easier for everyone (including myself)

Writing in Error 410

The Error 410 was written as a self- indulgent fanfic. I didn't expect anyone other than @ittybittyfanblog to read this story so all this support is appreciated. I feel like you all will get tired of hearing it but I'm so thankful to everyone who reads my stories. And I love you all. It really does make my day knowing that people like my work.

I started this series on 11th of April and it ended on 1st of May. If I hadn't taken that week long break, I feel like it would've ended earlier. And there are so many people who like my posts and read this story. It's unbelievable so thank you again.

I'd say my style of writing is mostly spontaneous, I do plan things but in the end what I will write, add or remove from the story is just based on what is going through my mind at that moment.

There were a lot of things that I wanted to flesh out and add which I couldn't exactly because of the reason I just stated and I will try to do better on this aspect.

But I'll probably try and flesh it out more in spin off series.

Non MC Reader

I never did give much thought to the Non Mc Reader because it was a self indulgent fic, she is very much based on me and my personal experiences.

I've had crushes and obsessions over fictional characters but at the end of the day, I could never fully find comfort in those fictional characters because a part of mind was always telling me that it wasn't real and the comfort I want is never gonna be given to me. That's why I always wanted to keep this feeling of detachment between them slowly turning into affection though I'm not sure if I was properly able to portray it.

Non MC Reader's looks

I do have a certain image of her in my mind which is the Non Mc Reader being underweight.

Non MC Reader's Backstory

Non MC Reader's Backstory isn't something I have thought about but I can give you a few things I kept in mind while writing her.

Non MC Reader doesn't really have a great relationship with her parents. She loves them and they love her and care for her but things still aren't working out.

She comes from a background where sex is a very hushed topic and as a woman, having sexual urges would always be very looked down upon which is the reason for her disgust towards being hypersexual.

Hypersexuality

 Hypersexuality referred to as compulsive sexual behavior or sex addiction. It describes an intense focus on sexual fantasies, urges or behaviors that are difficult to control and cause distress.

It's a condition characterized by an excessive amount of time spent on sexual thoughts and activities, often to the point of neglecting other important areas of life. 

Why was it included?

I feel like there are going to be people who aren't exactly sure why the Non MC reader was written to be Hypersexual in the fanfic.

There are a few reasons for it :-

Basically lack of representation.

The sexualization of this behavior.

I have said this before but hypersexuality is a very hush topic even in safe spaces for victims. There is this ideology of a 'perfect victim' which is someone docile and terrified, is repulsed by sex and the idea of it but there are people who are on the other side of spectrum.

They aren't given any recognition or comfort because they don't fit in this idea of how victims should act. Because of it, they are often shunned out and made to feel disgusted with themselves.

Hypersexuality being the way for the brain to cope is also a way for a person to fall into the pattern of self-triggering which isn't healthy at all.

The sexualization of being Hypersexual pisses me off the most because no, it's not sexy. It's not hot and it's not something for you to fetishize about. It's something that ruins people's lives, makes them feel disgusted with themselves and their body.

It has and continues to be a problem for me every single second of everyday and it's annoying, really annoying.

How does it feel being Hypersexual?

The best way I can describe it is by thinking of it as an itch. An itch that doesn't go away, no matter how many times you scratch it. It's always there and you want to scratch it but you can't do it every single second of your day and if you keep doing it, the skin will eventually get red and it'll start to hurt.

It's there and you just want to keep indulging it. It's starts with just one and then you just keep doing it for hours and in the end, you just feel so dirty and disgusting and guilty.

The only thing that actually seems to have some sort of value is your body.

The feeling is good but when that feeling goes away- all you can feel is guilt, anger, exhaustion. I mean how much can you indulge in this when you have college or a job or whatever that includes being around other people?

And if you are not around other people and bored then the urge gets stronger.

One more thing that I have heard and experienced is the sort of fear of sexual relationships. I know it's very ironic to be hypersexual and being scared of having sex.

There is always this fear in your mind that you are nothing more than how attractive your body is or how "useful" you are, how attractive you are.

And this fear leads to thought like "what if they don't find you attractive?" or "what if sex is all they want from you and then they are going to leave," at the back of your mind , when you do really like someone romantically.

It's so hard to be sexually active with your partner because it is something you think about a lot and want to do but it's also something you are scared to do because of those thoughts.

Still this is just my personal experience, I'm sure it's different for others.

Caleb

The passage between The Love and Deepspace world and the reader's world.

The passage between these two worlds is something I have thought about and what I was able to come up with was that there are two one-way passages between their worlds. One to leave the world and one to enter. I call them Promethean Passages.

So, let's just say the promethean passage to leave the world of Love and Deep space is Passage (1) and the promethean passage to enter the world of Love and Deep space is Passage (2)

The passage (1) is very hard to find, it has a fixed location in the world of Love and Deep space while the passage (2) is easier to find in the world of Love and Deepspace compared to passage (1) the location they appear is often random, and it is unclear how long they stay in one spot.

You can't go back if you enter one of those passages or tunnels and if something goes wrong, you are stuck there until your body ceases to exist.

I had planned to include it but I wasn't able to so that's why I think it's better to say it here.

As for how and where those tunnels are usually located, it'll be explained more in the spin off.

Caleb's evol

There was a part of me that wanted to keep Caleb's evol in reader's world but there are certain changes that happen to the people's bodies or abilities traveling through those Promethean Passages. As for the reason why the happens, it's in the fun facts.

He doesn't have his evol in reader's world and Caleb had to get used it. Because something like controlling gravity tends to come in handy a lot and he had learn to not depend on that anymore during the time he was studying to become a pilot in reader's world.

Potential self awareness in the other characters in Caleb's universe?

It is a reasonable thing to think that the other characters might become self aware because of the information they received from Caleb but I believe it was sort of different in this specific scenario.

When Caleb went to talk to MC, let's see it from her perspective. You have a friend you grew up with and love.

For a while now, he has been acting strange and you are sure he isn't mentally stable and then he comes to your house after months of not talking and tells you that he has a girlfriend in another universe and wants your help to travel to where his girlfriend is.

MC was really concerned for his mental state at that point. She talked to Sylus about this and he was able to find one of the Promethean Passages through his connections but it wasn't the one that Caleb wanted.

So, to answer your question, I do think it was start for MC and Sylus to be self aware but because Caleb is a very integral part of that world, when he left- his universe basically collapsed since a very important piece was suddenly missing.

That information was the start of a very important and enlightening knowledge and I'm sure Sylus would've tried to study more about Promethean Passages, even try talk Caleb about his mysterious girlfriend.

But unfortunately for Sylus and MC in Caleb's world, they weren't given enough time to really understand everything to the point Caleb did.

Caleb's metal arm/ prosthetic arm

Before I talk about it, I did want to include a prosthetic arm for Caleb in this fanfic and there are a few reasons why I didn't.

First of all, I don't want to represent something in my work that I do not have full knowledge upon or haven't experienced myself. I believe that fake and wrong representation is more harmful than no representation and maybe it is controversial to have that opinion.

But if I'm going to include and represent something in my work, I want to know and understand it fully. I don't want to half ass it or include it just for the sake of inclusion.

I did research on prosthetic arms and the type of prosthetic that Caleb has is known as Shoulder Disarticulation Prosthesis

Shoulder Disarticulation Prosthesis is relatively rare, while upper limb amputations are not uncommon, amputations occurring at the shoulder, including shoulder disarticulation and forequarter amputation, are less frequent.

The prosthesis for Shoulder Disarticulation do exist but they are not as common or available as the prosthetics for other amputations. The only prosthesis that I found even remotely similar to Caleb's prosthetic is from Prosthetic Innovations, LLC

The thing I was most confused about was if Caleb should keep the metal arm he already has or get a new one when he travels to the reader's world.

The new prosthetic arm wouldn't obviously be as technically advanced as the one Caleb has and a shoulder disarticulation prosthesis can range from $60,000 to $70,000 or even higher and Caleb wouldn't have the means to afford it for years.

And if he were to travel to reader's world with his prosthetic arm then neither of them would have the means for any update or repair of his metal/prosthetic arm which would make things really hard.

So, I decided against it in the end. I hope you all can understand my reasons and I will learn more about prosthetics so that I can include proper representation in my work.

FUN FACTS

Promethean Passages is something I named after the characteristics of one of the titans; Prometheus.

I read his greek myth (I don't know why) and what I personally believe is that his myth basically tells us that to have a prize you always have to sacrifice something in return and I really wanted to include that in my story.

Error 410 also known as a 410 Gone error is an HTTP status code, it means that the requested resource is permanently unavailable on your server and it has been intentionally removed.

I wanted the title to fit the story and the theme, I hope I did a good enough job.

Along with the quotes at the beginnings of the chapters, they were written to symbolize the feelings or the theme of the specific chapter. If some of you like re-read my fanfic, I hope those quotes were something fun to read.

Compilation of new(ish) WoF News!

The Darkstalker Graphic Novel will come out on November 4th, 2025 and will be illustrated by Jake Parker! Talons of Power Graphic Novel will also be coming out in 2025.

For some reason around 5 years ago, Lego set a blacklist on the Wings of Fire IP, meaning they couldn't make any merch with them. But as of recently, the IP has been confirmed by an employee to be unblacklisted, meaning it's possible that WoF Legos could be a possibility for the future!

Escaping Peril: Graphic Novel is out early in certain Barnes & Noble locations. Here's an official trailer!

On Instagram, Tui stated that there will be more WoF merch made in the future!

Here's a video of an interview Tui was a part of for The Flames of Hope's launch! Things to note: She says dragons currently think there's no animus magic but with the way the spell was cast it leaves a door open for future animus dragons & at the time Dan Milano (executive producer) said there was a planned release date for the TV show but it was a long while away.

Tui says if she could rename any character it'd be Scarlet because her scales are orange and not red/scarlet.

Book 16/Arc 4 notes: We'll find out more about Beryl, it will have nothing to do with Pantala and it'll take place somewhere we've never been before, Tui says the reason she's disappeared from socials for the past 2 months is cause she's been writing Book 16, Umber is planned to come back and be given a boyfriend (if she doesn't just give him his own Winglet), she wants to bring Blob back somehow, she also wants to bring back Auklet, she mentioned she can't say where Leaf and Ivy are at the moment due to potential spoilers, the book will take place after A Guide to the Dragon World, Tui watched/read a show/book for inspiration on Book 16 that she claims is the opposite of Life in The Underground that contains creatures she calls "the absolute cutest things" but she won't share what this show/book is yet until Book 16 is done (when asked if this means there'll be new dragon tribes, Tui says she can't say and is still deciding on what "it" is), Tui has a planned release date for the book but wont disclose it in case something happens to push it back, she says Peril and Sky will not meet in Book 16 but might make them meet in a Winglet instead, Snowfall will either get another POV in Arc 4 or we'll see her from someone else's POV, she doesn't want anybody else who's already had a POV to have one again in Arc 4, she says she wants to put Lynx in Arc 4 as well, when asked if there'd be a new continent she said she'd like to see Pyrrhia and Pantala on the same map alongside "something else," Tui says there'll be a new ship written in Book 16, right now Tui is working on backstories for new WoF characters that'll appear in Book 16.

Tui says Book 9 was the hardest book to write and says Kinkajou would've happily taken the POV from Turtle which is why she's such an important character in the book.

Tui was inspired to write WoF based on her favorite book series Pern, saying that her idea for WoF at first was to write a book series about dragons' POVs and how they feel about humans.

Voting for where the first FanWing Fest will take place is still ongoing! Places include San Diego CA, Decatur GA, Minneapolis MN, Portland OR, Dallas TX, Boulder CO, Chicago IL, St. Louis MO, Philadelphia PA, Salt Lake City UT, Washington DC, Northampton MA, Southern Pines NC, and Austin TX! It'll take place in April-June 2025 and Tui will be present to read a bit of Book 16, plus there will be other activities planned. The fest will take place in around 3-5 of the most voted cities.

There's currently submissions open for people under 18 to submit their WoF art to be used in a picture booklet that'll be sold at the FanWing Fest. You can only submit one piece per person and the contest ends January 17th, 2025 at 11:59PM EST. In total 250 illustrations will be included. AI art is not allowed and the art must be submitted by your parent/guardian. The illustration must be on a single sheet of unlined 8.5 x ll paper in a portrait orientation, and all submissions must be sent through the website. The file must be named with your first + last name. The art pieces themselves will be judged around February 3rd, 2025 and will be picked based on imagination, creativity and interpretation of the WoF series. Winners will be contacted through email around the same day.

Special Editions for books 2-5 are set to release on September 2nd, 2025. Each will be $10.99 and will have exclusive content, including new covers!

Myles Warden, someone who worked a little on the WoF TV show, stated on Twitter that when the show was cancelled, they were pretty far into the show's development.

During an interview back in 2021, Tui stated: She chose Snowfall to be The Dangerous Gift's POV because both Starflight and Turtle weren't very active POVs for their arcs' 4th book, her first idea for the third arc was of Pantalan refugees coming to Pyrrhia, she says Snowfall thinks both Winter and Qibli are annoying, Tui likes to look at WoF fanart, when The Brightest Night was just being written is when she had the idea to make a second arc, she likes to leave bread crumbs in books for potential future books, she plans to make a sequel to Dragonslayer and she wants to write more Winglets, she says Kinkajou was easy to write, she likes writing fierce dragons into her books, she has a draft where the boulder to the DoD's cave is animus touched, she says if she were a dragon she'd be a RainWing with a second choice of SeaWings and third choice of LeafWings, she usually gives herself 6 months to write a book, she says Peacemaker will never get Darkstalker's memories, she says something happened with The Lost Heir that made her have to rewrite it with different characters, Peril and Sky and Winter were originally going to also be DoD, Sky's original name was Ember, originally in Darkness of Dragons Darkstalker was going to talk Qibli out of "something" but it was scrapped because Darkstalker would've been too convincing, originally NightWing moon powers were always going to be fake, she got the idea for Darkstalker when she kept getting fanmail trying to understand Chameleon and Morrowseer which made her want to write a bad guy on the outside who was complicated on the inside, Cliff and Qibli are based off Tui's three-year-old son.

In a different interview from March 23rd 2021, Tui stated: She avoids reviews of her books because she doesn't want to get upset and potentially interfere with her work (she said Sundew and Willow's relationship didn't seem weird to her when writing it and believes LGBTQ+ representation should be represented in her books), she has an idea for what the Rainforest Kingdom was like while Sunny was gone during the Brightest Night and would like to make a graphic novel about it, she heard about the WoF Roblox games and thinks they're really cool, she has a melody in her head for The Dragonets Are Coming, she reads her own books once they're published so she doesn't forget anything she's written about, she confirmed dragons don't have eyelashes and that she instead imagined them batting their eyelids like humans, she often rewrites the prophecies she makes to get them perfect, she says it was hard to come up for The Dangerous Gift's title and she came up with 50 different ones before choosing one, she'd like to make a mini series for Ivy and Leaf, she came up with the dragon tribes through inspiration from Animal Planet, she originally believed Anemone would challenge Coral someday but is against it now (saying Coral is a decent queen who makes mistakes from time to time), she thinks the Great Ice Cliff reminds her of Twitter but didn't explain how, she names dragons with things relating to their tribe to help her remember them, she says Mink is based of a friend of her son, she says the reason Snowfall hates Tundra is because every time she appears to remind her of her responsibilities she thinks she's failed in some way, she thinks she's most like Sunny but says there's piece of her in every character she writes.

Tui considered Swordtail to be The Flames of Hope's POV but went with Luna instead.

Tui claims one out of many reasons Scarlet wanted to kill Glory was because Glory became queen of two tribes while her own life was going downhill.

Tui has expressed interest in the past on making a Winglet for Cobra and Vulture.

The Winglets are being translated to French and will be called Destinies.

We'll be getting graphic novels for Arc 3 and and that The Lost Continent Graphic Novel will be released roughly a year after Darkness of Dragon's graphic novel. Tui says she's most excited to see The Poison Jungle as a graphic novel.

Right now, the WoF TV show is on step 6 of 100 towards completion, and Tui has hinted something "good and important" has just happened with the show that has her very excited. Right now the show is in the writer's room and the script is currently being worked on.

Tui says she has a list of every character's theme song, with Winter's being That's How You Get The Girl by Taylor Swift and Luna's being I Can Do It With A Broken Heart (she didn't say who it's from).

Tui says Snowfall will likely get together with Lynx in the future and that she had chemistry with Sky, but Tui thinks Lynx is better for her compared to Sky.

Tui says if Blaze had won the war, the IceWings would've ruled over the Sand Kingom and that Glacier would've been Book 6's POV, struggling on figuring out how to run 2 kingdoms. If Blister had won, all of Pyrrhia would be set down a dark path. And if Burn had won she'd be a decent and strong ruler, but that she'd be a threat to the Dragonets of Destiny.

Tui claims Winter will find love eventually (that isn't Moon) but right now he has growing to do. She mentioned she's fond of both Winter and Qibli but right now Moon and Qibli are together, but stated they're both young and anything can happen in the future.

🔥Scorpion/Kuai Liang Headcanons #1🔥

Y'all I'm so sorry about my lack of activity that's been a month at least I think... Been working on projects for college and it's been taking a lot of my time and zapping any energy to write. T^T I promise I'll get more stuff out once my projects are completed, I have ideas and things in the works!

Much like Bi-Han, Kuai's body naturally runs warm however Kuai controls it to make sure he doesn't burn people by just shaking their hands. Bi-Han had no care and doesn't want people touching him.

Kuai also grew up learning to play an instrument, while Bi-Han chose to learn the Dizi; Kuai learned to play the Banhu.

He's a frequent visitor of Madame Bo's, he enjoys visiting after his missions and relaxing with some freshly brewed tea she serves. He always makes sure he's in more relaxed and casual clothes as its his time to unwind and relax from his duties.

Has a specific table at Madame Bo's that he will ALWAYS sit at, it has become his table at this point. It's a simple table located closer towards the windows where the sun shines pleasantly onto. A small image of a scorpion has been carved into the wood of the table after one night he went there with his brothers and had a little more sake than he should've.

Absolutely brings Tomas to Madame Bo's as well if they both have the time or after another dispute between Tomas and Bi-Han has happened.

Daddy's boy, Kuai adored his father and worshipped the ground he walked on. He wanted to be able to make him proud and work hard for the Lin Kuei and Earthrealm's protection. His father was his idol.

Giant Family man

Kuai is the peacekeeper both between his siblings and in the clan itself. He wants nothing more than his siblings to get along and tries to find compromises and ways to dim the fire Bi-Han directs towards Tomas. Because he's used to being the voice of reason many clan member's will go to Kuai rather than Bi-Han when they have concerns, knowing Kuai will take the time to listen to them and find a more effective way to bring it up to the grandmaster.

Multiple clan members have made comments of how Kuai would've been a better Grandmaster but Kuai shoots them down and defends his brother each time. Until Bi-Han betrayed him.

Has always looked forward to finding a partner to marry and have a family of his own to take care of. Kuai wants to be as good and noble a father his own father was to him.

Kuai is an avid reader in the small moments of free time he can get. He enjoys sitting out in the gardens on a calm morning and relaxing with a good book. He's a sucker for romance.

Big animal lover, specifically cats as they also naturally draw towards Kuai due to his warmer body temperature.

Has a pet cat that's his little buddy whenever he's home. The little guy will frequently be cuddled up on his shoulder while Kuai reads or is just going about his daily routine.

Has considered on multiple occasions of getting a pet scorpion... He still considers it from time to time

Jack and Joker: The Bank Scene

Happy Monday my friends, we finally are getting our gay heist show! YinWar truly have outdone themselves with the level of quality they've put into it and I couldn't be more excited or more grateful.

I wanted to break down the scene where Joke robs the bank because, given my experience in banking, it's was scripted very purposefully in favor of suspending our belief. Admittedly, my experience is in the US, and not all financial institutions operate the same, but for safety and security measures they're pretty standard across the board.

I was really appreciative of the disclaimer given ahead of time. It speaks to the research that was done for the sake of how much they could accurately portray the events, and when that seemed impossible and they couldn't let go of the scene, they said fuck it - gay story over realism it is. This break down is certainly not to dig at the writing; it's more to buff my knowledge than anything.

We love you YinWar, thanks for having respect for bank employees. Now let's get to the employees I don't respect, and the non-employee that I do.

For the most part, security officers don't need to do more than greet customers, and if there is any suspicion he shouldn't immediately interrogate someone. He's there for when things get escalated, or if there are any faces he should be looking out for (anyone banned from a branch for any reason), then he can confront them. If Joke had made an attempt at another location and that one tipped off others, then he would have a reason to suspect him.

Joke's mistake here: Being seen. He is so identifiable throughout. The show didn't bother checking any CCTVs, but he makes no attempt to hide from them. Instant jail. Sorry my guy. He also chooses a very unusual method and time of day to strike.

Since the officer did confront him, Joke gives an excuse.

This was a good call. If someone from another location or office, or a third party contracted service is coming, the employees would be notified beforehand of whom they should be and during which times. And even if the person is easily recognizable physically, they will have company identification on them, and if the security measures are extra strict, a form of government ID would also need to be shown.

LOUD WRONG ANSWER BUZZER

So what Joke is going to look for is someone who appears less competent. He looks at the older woman who likely has years under her belt and knows he has no chances there. But the girl to her left....

And she's already in trouble.

That's never a situation I'd want to be in. Calling customers to inform them that there's been a mistake made on their account is never fun and it often is hard to reach them. There are ways of simply correcting the error and informing the person after it's been done just so they know what to expect when they look at the activity on their statement. Whatever the case, she's new, inexperienced, and having a bad day.

The balls he has to say this. Bestie. Have you ever touched banking software.

He's just getting her out of the way. If she had received any proper training and meant to apply it at all, this would've been a red flag. She is trusting the judgement of the security officer. Joke hasn't introduced himself by name and if he meant to help fix the mistake he wouldn't make her leave. It would be her responsibility and a good training opportunity. Instead, this happens....

She's risking so many things! Security within the immediate premises, security of the bank's information, confidentiality of the customers' information (which is literally their government ID, home address, other contact info, ALL of their accounts and activity). Absolutely a bad move.

GIRRRLLLL. That is on you. I saw her hesitate, but in the end just knew it was bad. At least where I've been, that possibly means fines and/or jail time for her as well, depending on the severity (most likely fines though). This poor girl is gonna have the worst confidence about her ability on the job after learning she helped a guy embezzle money. Where's her story?

Joke sends the security guard away, gets behind the desk with Carbon's ID and is likely planning to simply empty his account and leave. Then who should show up but Jack! (Next time please direct him to wait in a queue, your "manager" is supposedly still fixing your little check blunder, remember?)

And even Joke is nervous for a moment because he definitely didn't want to get the cute bartender involved.

Nevertheless, he humors Jack and listens to the bittersweet story of his childhood and his dream of opening a school. I love Jack, I really hope that he is able to open that school someday too.

So this part of the loan process is called the interview. It's where the employee will get an idea of the customer's needs and see if the bank's service is what they're looking for or if there is any particular offers they can make at this time. It's an important process when dealing in person because it will hopefully help the customer know which steps they can take depending upon approval. It's also where documentation is asked to verify what can be approved.

For the most part, Joke's charisma would be fantastic for a banking career because he seems natural at facilitating a conversation that requires someone to open up about their financial needs. He loses marks for not checking actual information, not filing any copies of the information he has been given, not explaining any details about paying the loan down or how having an account works, not starting the account opening process, and the numbers they talk about are vague so we don't even know how much money is in question here (which is probably a writing choice and I'm fine with it).

Instead Joke pulls a Picard and decides to make it so. And flirts at the same time. There's no signage around the branch to speak of this program and he doesn't go into any details, he simply grabs the stamp and seals their fates together.

I do think it's a sweet little change of mind he has. He was simply going to inconvenience Carbon, but what better way to do it (in his mind) than to give the money to the guy who got snubbed because of him?

The office being truly empty does crack me up. Who is supposed to be there and why are they gone? Also, for a bank, that vault is incredibly small. That is a home safe, that is not for securing the assets of the public. Also, most places have updated their protocol to use two people when opening the vault because having two people present also ensures less opportunity for employee theft.

His ass is not wearing gloves!

And, in a final un-bankerly move, he does not count out even the bundles.

I feel bad for knowing that I would have absolutely apprehended this man by asking the simplest questions. But I no longer work in that capacity and couldn't give a fuck! Let him do what he wants!

For one of the first times in his life, Jason Grace had friends. And he didn't just have one or two friends that he was only kinda close with, no, he had a whole bunch of them who were basically his ride or dies.

They supported him through anything, and he did the same right back, whether that be making sure Reyna kept her sanity intact as she navingated the chaos that was New Rome politics (for a place that was organized like a military, the politics sometimes got surprisingly out of hand), helping Leo escape from jail because of an experiment gone wrong, or helping Percy hide some unidentified remains. Jason really didn't want to know the story behind how Percy had acquired those.

Now that there was no longer a quest foretelling all of their dooms, and no more fetch quests from the gods (for now), Jason could finally spend actual quality time with his friends.

Without the lingering threat of death hanging over all of their heads, thank the gods (or don't. Everything is at least half their fault anyways).

The thing is, some of those friends, namely Percy, had found out that Jason, and a bunch of the others, hadn't got to experience what he called ‘typical teenager things’. And then decided to rectify that.

That led to at least once-weekly events such as movie nights, sleepovers, and spending exorbitant amounts of money on things that they didn't need at the mall.

So now, naturally, Jason was dragged to the county fair, getting to watch as all hell broke loose.

As soon as he arrived, Leo dragged him onto a completely sketchy ride, with exposed gears and wiring, that made ominous screeching noises whenever it started up, like the screams of the damned were trapped inside.

But, when Jason tried to be reasonable and claim that the ride was in no way safe for him to go on, Leo told him that it was fine. Well, fine enough to not have either of them be <em>seriously</em> maimed, at least. Jason didn't really believe him, but he decided to trust his boyfriend (for now). Leo was good with machines, so Leo would probably know if it was dangerous. Still, that didn't stop Jason from eyeing the worker who was running the ride warily as he taped a loose part back in with duct tape, before they started up the ride as usual.

As Jason was encouraged (read: bribed) to go on more rides, he got to watch in mild horror and bewilderment at the antics that his best friends managed to get up to.

From where he stood in the lines of rides with Leo, he could see Reyna absolutely destroying Frank in those stupid little scam games, as Frank was distracted by watching his girlfriend, Hazel, and Piper, willingly go on the most absurd and dangerous rides that they could find, just for the hell of it.

Jason watched in slight bemusement as Frank became increasingly more concerned at Hazel's risk taking activities, as she hung upside down from a ride as it spun at speeds that were sure to cause at least a mild case of whiplash, or went down the drop tower for what must've been, at least, the twelfth time.

Jason would've called Frank dramatic, but he too had seen firsthand just how sketchy the mechanisms that held the rides together were, so honestly, he couldn't blame him. Jason himself was honestly half about to leave the ride lines altogether, adorable boyfriend giving him puppy eyes be damned.

When Nico and Will <em>weren't</em> sloppily making out in some corner of the fair, Jason watched the two of them act stupidly in love, never letting go of the other's hand as they skipped through the fair, acting like teenagers without the weight of the world on their shoulders.

Will and Nico went on every ride and played every game that was marketed towards lovers, reveling in the joy that came with the two of them being together.

And,through a true test of patience, even though Jason found it almost obnoxious, Jason <em>did not</em> tease them about that. Not even a little. No matter how much he wanted to. Because Nico and Will deserved this - their relationship was still fresh, and he could remember back when he and Leo had gotten together, and they were just as sappy. How any of their friends had put up with that, Jason didn't know.

And when Percy wasn't trying (and mostly failing) to win food eating contests, he was trying to win the biggest, most obnoxious prizes from every single game. Solely because Annabeth had made one (1) single offhand comment that they were cool.

To make things worse (better? More chaotic?) a fair few of those games were water-based. So Percy, naturally, decided to rig those in his favor.

He won every one of those games on his first try, leaving the poor teenager who was working barely minimum wage stupefied on how water could behave in such ways that defied the very laws of physics.

It was Percy’s attempts to impress Annabeth more (not that he really could, considering that Annabeth was almost always impressed with Percy, no matter what) with his ever growing collection of bizarre and usually poorly made stuffed animals that made Leo finally decide to stop dragging Jason through ride after ride.

Jason's stomach, which had dropped far too many times that day, was very thankful for that turn of events.

Now Leo, as of recently, had been trying to prove to Jason that he was a good boyfriend. Jason saw no need for that to happen, because he already loved Leo more than the stars in the sky, and Leo did things everyday, no matter how little, that showed just how amazing he is, not just as a boyfriend, but as a person, a friend. But the phenomenon persisted nonetheless.

Leo grabbed Jason by the arm, and asked,

“Hey, Jason, do you want one of those obnoxious stuffed animals? I bet I could win one for you, no sweat.”

Jason knew that statement was probably prompted by Leo seeing Percy gift prize after prize to Annabeth, leading to Percy carrying a horde of tacky, but sweet, things. And Jason knew that Leo probably wanted to do the same, to show Jason just how much of a good boyfriend he was. Even though Jason still believed that it was unnecessary, because he already knew that Leo was the sweetest and most precious person on earth, he decided to humor Leo, and replied,

“Sure, why not.”

Jason knew that he made the right decision by the wide smile that lit up on Leo's face when he agreed.

Leo's game of choice was one of the games where you had to throw a ball at metal bottles, with the goal of knocking them over.

Simple premise, yes, but definitely rigged against anyone who chose to play, if the light ball and probably weighted bottles were any indication, but Jason didn't mention it to Leo. Leo was more than clever enough to have probably already figured that out, and created an entire plan on how to win.

Leo, cocky and proud as ever (a trait that Jason absolutely adored), gave the bored teenager who was running the booth a bill, and grabbed three balls, grinning at Jason.

Jason loved being the cause of that smile.

Leo tossed two of the balls to Jason for him to hold, and analyzed the booth, lining up a shot.

And then promptly failed to knock any of the bottles over. The ball hit the bottles, and

Leo's face immediately fell, but Jason tried to encourage him.

“C'mon, you still have two balls left, it's okay.”

“Yeah, yeah, I know, Sparky.”

Jason leaned over and gave Leo a kiss on the cheek.

“For good luck.”

“Like you didn't just want an excuse to kiss me, you dork,” came Leo's response, his voice filled with mirth.

“I'm <em>your</em> dork, so just shut up and throw.”

“Yeah, yeah, sure, just admit that you're a sap already.”

Even with Leo's playful protests, he still tossed the ball at the stack of metal bottles.

Leo's wide smile when he knocked them all over made something in Jason's chest flutter.

Maybe Jason was a bit of a sap.

But he'd never admit it.

“So, Leo, what prize are you going to get?”

Jason could tell that Leo already had his mind set on something, of the glint in Leo's eyes were any sort of indication.

With a grin on his face, Leo replied,

“The dragon, of course! It's like Festus! He needs a friend.”

Jason chucked good-naturedly at his boyfriend's comment.

“I suppose it does look like Festus, you dork.”

“Well, I'm <em>your</em> dork, Jason, and you love me, don't you?”

Jason just kissed his boyfriend on the lips because, well, Leo wasn't lying at all.

finally got around to watching ep6 and i am FASCINATED by how well it demonstrates yor and loid's differing talents and priorities. yor is extremely good at using ingenuity to kill/incapacitate threats on sight (especially in a discreet manner), and yet she isn't actually able to identify other assassins, nor is she wary of listening devices at all. then you cut to loid and realize that he's already clocked all the listening devices and suspicious characters all around the boat, and the only reason he hasn't taken care of them or investigated is simply because he doesn't think they're a threat to him (which is reasonable - his presence on the cruise was last minute, all the listening devices seem to be indiscriminate, and none of the suspicious people have paid any attention to loid since he got on the boat).

i think the fact that yor recognizes "bloodlust" and loid recognizes "suspicious activity" really highlights how different their training is: yor needs to be on guard against people who want to kill her, while loid's job as a spy requires him to catch small details that expose other spies. they both notice the threats in different ways, and had loid and yor been working together to protect olka and her son, they would have covered each other's blind spots beautifully - loid would've immediately spotted threats like the assassins in the crowded room, leaving yor to deal with them quickly and quietly. i'm looking forward to seeing what a power couple they are once all the secrets are out and they can finally work as a team.

or, what i find so fascinating about the arcane alternate universe ekko and heimerdinger got sent to:

there is very little we know for sure about what happened in the alternate universe, other than the fact that the explosion caused by the hexstones in jayce's apartment killed vi, that silco and vander forgave each other somehow, that hextech never got invented, and that the lanes are flourishing.

those things are all intrinsically connected.

imagine a headline about a bunch of rascals from the undercity blowing up an inventor's penthouse after robbing it and escaping, and about an orphan from the undercity dying in a tragic accident in a topside inventor's penthouse. depending on how it's framed, even if it's public knowledge vi, powder, mylo and claggor tried to rob the place, even if jayce and caitlyn also got injured, vi's death would've earned sympathy and shed light not only on jayce's dangerous experiments, but also on the situation in the undercity. what would've cassandra done when she found out kids in the undercity are so deprived that they'd go to these lengths (putting themselves, but also her daughter and jayce in danger) just to steal some junk from topside? what if caitlyn had actually died? would cassandra meet with vander? or powder? go down there herself? what would she say to the council not as a kiramman, not as a councilor, but as a mother? what would greyson have said and done, someone who thought so highly of caitlyn, and worked with vander, fully aware of the situation in zaun? it's unclear in the au, but judging by the fact that silco isn't "evil" anymore, it's likely that zaun somehow got its independence eventually.

i think vander would've turned to silco when vi died. in vander's head, even if silco chose to never forgive him (because vander doesn't know silco never found his letter), silco knew vi as a baby or even as a kid. even if he hadn't seen her in years, he was just as close to felicia as vander. vander would've blamed himself for what happened, would've wanted to tell him, to seek comfort in an old friend, feeling like he owes him the truth. we know silco wasn't actively trying to kill vander but just jumped on the first opportunity he got, so what would've happened if vander approached him first, and in this context? maybe that's how they found out about the letter and decided to reconcile in grief, which also must mean silco abandoned singed's experiments. he only needed shimmer to get power, an edge to topside, a way to scare them and earn their respect, so he could achieve a free nation of zaun. what if vi's death already started a discussion on that front, so he didn't have to continue going that route?

what if the lanes are doing so much better in the au not just because hextech never got made, but also because shimmer never got made? what if industrialist silco, who reconciled with vander in grieving what is effectively his niece, actually used his money for good, and not to accumulate even more power and control against piltover? or maybe jayce, affected by the situation and the near death experience, listened to heimerdinger the first time (met viktor perhaps) and changed his experimental focus so his work actually helped reduce inequality between the twin cities without meddling with the arcane?

the difference between a juvenile thief and a victim child is such a fine line, but you wouldn't speak ill of the dead, you wouldn't blame them post-factum like you'd do to the living, would you? you'd want to know who they were once, what happened to them, how it can be avoided in the future. instead of witch hunting and looking for someone to take the blame, piltover would also be forced to look within, to take at least partial blame. i think delving into the reasons for the differences in the canon and alternative universe, even speculatively, tells us so much about human psychology and the world of arcane, if not the real world.

Who Explored with Who in Chapter 1?

This is a question that has plagued my mind for a very long time, so I'm finally making a post about who I think teamed up with who!

There are three categories: Confirmed, probable, and guess. Confirmed means we saw it confirmed in the episode, probable means I think we can say that it probably happened, and guess is me taking a shot in the dark.

Teruko and Charles: Confirmed

Since Teruko is the character we follow, we saw that she explored with Charles the whole time (except when he ran off for a few minutes to make the weapons list). So they're confirmed.

Xander and David: Confirmed

The reason Teruko is forced to explore with Charles in the first place is because Xander confessed he was ditching her to explore with David. So this pairing is confirmed as well.

Arturo and Levi: Confirmed

Teruko and Charles run into these two in the infirmary, and Arturo states they spent their time together while he bandaged Levi's arm because of the injury the spikes caused. They're also confirmed.

Arei and Whit: Confirmed

Teruko and Charles walk in on them having a toilet paper fight exploring the bathroom together during a CG. Since Whit built a whole toilet paper fort, they were probably in there together for a while. So we can also confirm them as a pair.

Veronika and Ace: Probable

I've always been pretty confident about this one, even though it's never shown. Not only did Veronika and Ace's usual chapter 1 counterparts, Arturo and Levi team up, leaving them to instead team up with each other, but their relationship being established now also sets up Veronika forcing Ace into her movie night. After spending so much time exploring with him, she knew how easily scared he was and that he'd be fun to bring.

Min and Eden: Probable

At first, I was going to put Hu and Eden together, since they're friends later, but in the end I decided on these two, and I'm actually pretty confident about it. Eden probably would've put a little more effort into including Hu in the baking activity if they really were already friends, and Min actually does attend the baking activity despite it not being school-related. Min already being friends with or liking Eden makes that more believable, and them having a friendship or spending a lot of time together during chapter 1 makes Eden's guilt over Min's death also make more sense. If they already had a friendly connection and spent time together outside of that one baking scene, of course Eden feels way worse than if she accidentally caused the death of someone she only talked to once or twice.

J and Nico: Guess

I figured J will probably go with who she thinks is the coolest, and Nico's the only one I could justify her thinking might be kinda cool out of who I had left. Hu's too motherly (maybe reminding J of her Mom a little too much), and Rose...well, she might be the second-best pick, but her sleepiness might frustrate J, so I figured Nico was my best bet. They might be kinda socially awkward, but they're blunt in a way I think J would appreciate (and it's not like J's not socially awkward sometimes either). And I think Nico would end up liking J a fair bit, too. So I've decided to think they explored together.

Rose and Hu: Guess

Other than being the only two I had left, I figured they still work pretty well as a pairing. Hu's a lot more patient than some of the other students, so her being the one to put up with Rose constantly falling asleep mid-conversation would make sense. Plus, Hu says that the pairs are a matter of safety and makes Teruko team up with Charles instead of being nice and doing it herself. Maybe that's because she wanted to protect Rose, who she thinks could quite easily fall into a trap, and didn't want to leave her in Teruko's or especially Charles' hands. If she had teamed up with, say, Eden instead, maybe she would've been more comfortable helping Teruko out and going with Charles for her in her pursuit to be useful.

Aaaand that's it! If anyone has any other ideas for who paired up with who, I'd love to hear them. I'm actually pretty happy with my guesses, but I guess I'll never know if I'm right.

How is Nohr any better than Woobiegard's Empire? They're both vicious imperial powers trying to conquer their neighbor for power and glory because they think they deserve that land. The only difference is we see Nohr commit more atrocities onscreen. Hell, the Black Eagles are just the Nohr royal family except instead of having no spines they have no brains.

Many reasons, actually!

Nohr was lead to be the way it is through a corrupt outside influence through Anankos. Though we don't have any information on rulers before him, Garon was explicitly stated to be someone who was prideful but never cared for conquering other nations. While The Slithers had a hand in the Empire, ultimately, the Empire's bullshit in the current story started with Edelgard's dad given that he destroyed an entire noble house that tried to break away because he wanted ultimate power, before Edelgard herself took up the mantle of doing that both inside and outside the Empire.

2) The Nohrian royals were pretty much groomed for 15 years into being complicit in Nohr's actions through Anankos possessing their father, added onto the pre-existing trauma of dealing with the Nohrian concubines abusing everyone around them including other royal children. The Black Eagles made a conscious decision to back Edelgard knowing what that means, with the only person having a good excuse to do so being Petra, whose country is being held hostage by the Empire.

3) The Nohr sibs actively work to 'loophole' their way through missions and assignments, as explicitly stated by Leo in chapter 14, and exemplified by how they all talk themselves and Corrin out of trouble concerning things like the Ice Tribe. Another example is how they have no issue in sparing people whatsoever, so long as Garon isn't there to threaten them into submission. The Black Eagles do jack shit to undermine Edelgard while under employ. Not that it matters, because...

4) The Nohr sibs hardly ever share positive feelings about the war and conflicts they take part in. Elise is an idealist who's visibly shown to be crushed and confused when her family isn't around, Leo outright says that they would've "lost their souls" had they not worked around Garon's orders, Xander has suicidal ideation and is basically going through doublethink when it comes to his responsibility and actions, and Camilla... well, she's already been fucked up for a long time and her fear of Garon is greater than her desire for peace. The Black Eagles meanwhile? They're just fine when participating in Edelgard's war. Sure, you have Dorothea wangsting on about it, but she's still doing her part no questions asked. Ferdie's spineless, Linhardt is unconscionable, Bernadetta basically convinced herself that forcing a complete 180 personality shift is for the best, and Petra and Caspar have no qualms about killing innocent people defending their homes, given they frequently dehumanize/impersonalize the actions.

5) Most importantly, the stories of each game present the war differently. The war in Fates and Nohr's part in it is actively presented to be irrational and wrong, a cruel plot by a false king exacerbated by the pre-existing issues that caused friction between Nohr and Hoshido in the first place. There is never a moment where a character in Fates says, "yeah this war is for the greater good." No matter the route, but especially in Conquest, Corrin is making the best of a bad situation that was out of his control from the start, yet he can turn around before it's too late. And even when the Nohr siblings have an out, that being they were abused into being accomplices in war crimes, they take responsibility of the pain they've caused at the end of Conquest, pledging their lives going forward into reshaping Nohr for the betterment of everyone.

3H is the opposite. Edelgard poses the war as better than the "false peace" that has been present between the three nations of Fodlan for three centuries. And the story actively validates her perspective and beliefs on this, through complimenting her leadership skills, saying her soldiers would rather die for her than abandon her cause, by constantly putting Rhea under scrutiny before the timeskip, by saying Edelgard "has a point" in every single route, by infantilizing her in White Clouds and CF, by giving her a happy ending at the end of CF, by the entire existence of Three Hopes, etc.

Fates paints war as the tragedy as it is, the trauma and grief that comes with the loss of any individual life, and punishes the ones who profit off of it while offering the chance of atonement from redeemable participants.

3H rewards Edelgard for warmongering, and brushes aside the brutal reality of warfare and imperialism by focusing on Edelgard's feelings about "the weight on her shoulders and her blood soaked hands!" before asking you to care about the lives taken.
