Next time I know my family has i pet that is ill i need someone to hit me on the head if I think about not going to see them. Nans dog has just been put to sleep because of pyometra (which our childhood dog had when she was younger) and she had a 10% chance of survival and the surgery was £2600. It feels obvious to say make sure you have pet insurance, but 1/4 older female dogs get pyometra and it is deadly so please for the love of God spay/neuter your dogs.

have just been introduced to a kitten named rascal who lives on my floor and whose babysitters (who are not his owner?) were trying Really hard to goad me into adopting which like. he's a little baby and he's so so so silly and he barely even bit me but like also. this cat isn't yours???? anyway if the owner's giving him up then I might finally have a cat which like AHHHHHG

We used to have puppies! 8 of them actually, which happened because bear, our dog, was in heat and someone forgot to shut the door and then lokki got to her so my mum decided to let her have puppies because why the hell not? It can’t be that bad right?

WRONG!!!! Just one puppy is a lot of work and 8 of them is so much work it’s crazy like before they eat solid food it’s not too bad, the mother cleans up the pee and poo and we only had to change the blanket, for the shell they were in, every few days but when they started solid food, we had to change the pads in the bathroom twice a day and then because we would put them outside on our deck, we had to change those pads as well, and then we would have to move them from inside to outside and then we would have to cook food like twice a day (biscuits can give dogs skin allergies!) and then they would try to escape all the time and twice they got out and wrecked my mums grande so that wasn’t fun

and then another time when they lived in our bathroom one of them got stuck under the bath???? Which was annoying but a little funny afterwards

anyway after all that work and trouble, they were really cute and I miss them, we kept one of them (Adam) but they were cuter when they were small and i could always just grab a puppy and snuggle with it whenever I wanted and it was pretty awesome so I’m just reminiscing by looking through the photos I have

I'm so excited! Emma was wanting attention & it was 2 hours till dinner yet. So I snagged her harness for a quick training session. Best part? She saw it and was immediately excited & came forward on her own! 💙

She started following a finger cue for putting her head through the loop, and she has gotten as far as her neck through, which are both new progress! 😁🎉 She's getting much less bothered by the straps touching or catching on her ears too.

I swear, she's so much better at all of this than me. 😂 I feel like I barely do enough & yet she still makes such good progress. I love her.

I guess part of it is it's cooled down enough for me to go on walks with Cupid more but I don't even know anymore. I don't know why these last couple of weeks I've been so intensely reminded of Mawkish and how much I miss her when I interact with Cupid. I have a feeling it's going to get worse as Cupid enters puberty and full-swing teenage phase so I have to deal with a more demanding less loving dog for like 5 fucking months. I have to learn to compartmentalize this grief again for my own sake
