HARLEY SAWYER X PSYCHOLOGIST READER (morally grey)
Tumblr media
You have been working at Playtime CO for some years now, you worked as the head department of psychology but most of your work consisted on providing profiles of the children in the lower levels or as your coworker called them, experiments.
Over the years of working with them and knowing what they are being turned into, you've learned to work with them pre and post experimentation. Another thing you've learned through time was to deal with the partner you were assigned for the project. Harley sawyer.
What is there to say about that man. He is the head scientist in the project but he is absolutely horrible at dealing with them, or with anyone. That's how you were assigned to work along side him . He made the experiments and you maintained them under control.
Initially the ones who needed to be under control where you two because of your crashing personalities. While he was a serious control freak and borderline antisocial you one the contrary seemed to not take things seriously, constantly taunting him and the other stuff and with a permanent sarcastic tone in your voice voice.
Of course at first he didn't like you much, and to be fair you didn't make it easy. Everything he said refering to the experiments was refuted by your obsession to keep a mildly stable mental health in the subject.
Dr Harley sighed heavily looking your way with an annoyed look- What now?- he asked
If you keep treating the subjects like that your are going to break them.-you said in the observation room with him while you were both supervising experiment 1355, a young girl turned into a smiley unicorn.
They're toys, they can be fixed easily- he responded as if he had repeated you that phrase for the 11th time (he did)
You know what I mean Sawyer, they are of no use if their minds break-you explained with a calm smile- or have you forgotten what kind of problems an unstable subject could bring?- your asked him, your question mocking him.
It turned out well with Yarnaby or have you forgotten Dr/Dra (Y/L/N)?- he said imitating your question
You laughed slowly- ah yes the kid you isolated as your pet, great example Dr-
Harley Sawyer was well know for working alone, he didn't like others company and whenever he got an assistant or a guard, he scared them off by being authoritarian or exposing them to dangerous situation. You were the only one at the company who actually could keep up with him.
In the interviews with the children you would lead the conversation while Harley observed and took notes. In the laboratory you were more of an assistant, helping the Dr with whatever tool he needed or just preparing the chemicals.
Even though he hated to admit it, his experiments have been more controlable and causing less troubles since you started working together.
You would be unbothered by the kids, showing enough compassion for them to not recognise you as a threat, but showing not an ounce of regret in your eyes while seeing how Harley turned them into toys.
Do I have to remind you that compassion is useless in this job?- Sawyer said while closing a wound he had made on the experiment while operating
You haven't realised how much time have passed since your prior conversation have ended. It was strange for the doctor to initiate them, usually preferring silence but you weren't complaining.
Compassion can make a person go through great lengths- you said- But I understand that in this line of work it's nothing but a limit, a wall that needs to be broken in order to obtain results.-
For once in a long time both you and Harley agreed on something.
He finally stopped sewing the toys fresh wound and started reading the inform you had redacted about the psychological profile of the child before the operation- you should do another one once she wakes up (Y/L/N)- he reminded you while reading the little notes and highlights you left about her.
You always reserved a space the paper work to express your personal opinions on the experiment and Harley always read them. It's another thing he started doing, considering your opinions and advice as something worth of noticing.
-Doc...-
-Sawyer...-
-Sawyer??...-
-HARLEY!!-
He looked at you not noticing how he had spaced out of his mind for a moment while reading your report.
What is it?- he asked actually surprised that he was actually distracted enough to not hear you.
I was asking you about the experiment 1322, Doey. How are the three conscience developing? are they getting used to they're new body?-you asked. Doey was your favourite experiment so far, it was the one you have showed more interest in and your involvement with him was way bigger than with others. Sawyer didn't understood your fascination with Doey.
Since you both started developing the project, you had shown special interest in the idea of three people combined in a toy. In fact, the reason you had starting working more time with the doctor was because of your eagerness to see how the experiment would turn out.
You have become much more comfortable with one another, even after years of coexisting with each other in the lower levels of Playtime.
Sometimes he would catch himself looking at you while you were with the kids in the interviews. He observed your calm demeanor through the crystal of the observation room. He could see how the children grew more confortable with you while you were joking.
The cognitive abilities of the toys were improving each day thanks to your work so of course the bosses permitted you both to perform as many experiments as needed.
Another thing Harley noticed about the last week's was how you would spend most of your time testing and conversing with 1322. He had grown so used to your presence that it was getting harder to work without you present.
He would never admit that he missed your sarcastic comments about the designs of the toys or how he missed to call you a germ, his germ, whenever you were getting to annoying.
Sometimes when you went to the cafeteria upstairs to get some coffee or a sandwich to eat, you would get him something too.
You haven't brought anything recently and that was because of your new obsession.
He finally finished the last transformation successfully, now the only thing left was for the experiment to wake up and for you to examine them.
Harley wandered through the corridors searching for the one room he knew you would be in, this time, he was the one bringing you a coffee.
He watched you through the crystal of the observation room. You always insisted on talking face to face with Doey. The mass of doe seemed calmer with you around. The two more peaceful personalities of Doey talked to you, voicing their regrets and fears. Though the violent part of the creature always seemed reluctant to talk to you. Not responding what was asked of him or simply not responding at all.
Dra/Dr ( Y/L/N), your presence is required in the observation room number 29- Sawyer interrupted your conversation. Doey seemed afraid for a moment only to turn his expression into an angry one. With a gesture of your hand you calmed him down and signaled silently for Harley to turn on the ice so the doe wouldn't scape.
You exited the room to find your coworker handing you a cup of coffee. You looked at him with a raised brow but accepted it either way.
Well, look who it is.-you said with satisfied grin- I thought you were supervising Yarnaby?- you commented
Yes I was, are you aware of how much time you spend with that... Mass?- he said with contempt- what's so fascinating about him anyways? He's only been trouble.
You're only trouble as far as I'm aware- he rolled his eyes you sipped again- he's a time bomb and I want to be there to see it explode- you finally responded- I want to be the germ that makes him mutate.
Germ... It's a fitting name for you- he laughed with a smooth voice.-
You both stayed silent in the middle of the room, he looked at you calmly while you ended your coffee. He was looking at you trough his glasses without blinking, with his tired eyes.
You looked back at him and when you realised he had his fist raised at you, brushing with his tumb the remaining coffee right next to your upper lip.
Neither of you realised how close you where, the dim light of the room illuminated both of your bodies. Yours against the door and his right in front of you, your external layers of clothing touching lightly.
He got even closer, feeling his breath against your own. His thumb caressing your cheek
He thought about everything that had happened recently. How Pierre and the ones closer to him had started to go against you both in the semanal meeting with the executives regarding the experiments. Pierre's demands being met by your indifference, claiming that you will keep securing the experiments as much as possible.
The doctor remembered how you, just as him, were completely devoted to the project. He had became paranoic for the past months. More irritable, unwilling to socialise with someone who wasn't you or the toys
He got even closer to you, he though he heard you whisper his name. You closed the gap between the both of you. Hands on his shoulders
Lip against lip, his hand still in your face. You felt that Harley was the only human you could trust down here. No one understood you like he did. Your desperation to contribute to humanity, your desire of achieving a more lasting body. One that could endure more.
If you ever shared this with anyone else, you'll probably be in trouble.
Your closeness with Harley and his with you was out of understanding, a feeling of trust and comfortability that had just materialised thought he kiss you were sharing with each other.
He slowly pulled apart, his breathing uneven and one of his locks of hair misplaced a slight smile on his face. His forehead touched yours and he whispered just above your lips- My germ~
Only if you knew... That exact same day Harley Sawyer would be reduce no nothing more than a system, a screen, a conscience.
At the mercy of playtimes desires while you... Well ... Your whereabouts were unknown, even though they knew you didn't get out of the building.
Somewhere... hiding between wires and toy corpses...
I'm in love with the voice of the doctor AKA Harley Sawyer.

good men die too (so i’d rather be with you)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
A/N: first natalie fic. needed to get this off my chest. crush by ethel cain on repeat as i wrote this.
SYNOPSIS: natalie scatorccio isn’t the kind of girl you bring home to your parents. and she’s not the kind of girl you’d think to spend forever with. she’s reckless, dangerous, and rough. but that doesn’t stop you from wanting her all the same.
pairings: natalie scatorccio x reader
genre: no crash AU
warnings: suggestive themes, blood, bruises
MASTERLIST
please do not repost my work anywhere for any reason at all. if you do see this happen to any of my stories, please let me know. thank you x.
it’s no surprise to anyone when natalie scatorccio comes strolling into soccer practice twenty minutes late. long after coach martinez has just finished a speech on the importance of time management.
her leather jacket slung over her jersey clad body gives you just the faintest scent of marlboro reds clinging to her clothes. she wears a smirk as she approaches the rest of the girls on the field.
coach martinez merely rolls his eyes at her presence. he decides to barely batt an eye anymore. what was the point? natalie was good. maybe not the best, but good enough to get away with her shit.
you weren’t really close to her like the others were. not like misty, who hung on her every word, or shauna, who tried (and failed) to keep her in check. you weren’t even like lottie, who seemed to understand her in a way that made no sense. no, you and natalie were something different.
you didn’t talk much, but when you did, it was charged. every snarky comment or off-hand joke felt like it was said to imply something neither of you wanted to admit. like a game neither of you were willing to lose.
the first time you really noticed it was after a game. the team was celebrating a win at some rundown diner. cramming into booths that barely fit you all. natalie sat across from you, her fingers wrapped around a coke bottle, condensation dripping from the glass.
her eyes met yours, and she smirked like she knew something you didn’t.
“you’re staring.” she drawled, bringing the bottle to her lips.
“you wish.”
she laughed, low and throaty, before leaning in. “i know.”
that was how it always went. a flicker of something in a hallway, a touch too long passing water bottles at practice, her voice too close to your ear when she made some off-hand comment that sent heat pooling in your stomach. and every time, you refused to acknowledge it.
because natalie scatorccio was trouble. and you didn’t do trouble.
but damn if you weren’t drawn to her anyway.
it was easier to act like she didn’t get under your skin. to roll your eyes, to scoff, to push her buttons just to see if she’d push back. you’d rather drive her crazy, make her hate you, than admit what you actually wanted. becuase if you admitted it, it would be real. and real meant dangerous.
real meant natalie had the power to ruin you.
so you kept playing the game. kept up the act. and natalie…she played right into it.
even with the others around, you found ways to test the limits.
at parties, when she was sprawled on a couch with some guy draping an arm over her shoulder, you’d pass by and let your fingers brush against hers for half a second too long. just long enough to make her glance up at you through her lashes, lips quirking like she knew exactly what you were doing.
in the locker room, when the team was too busy talking about the next game, you’d let your knee knock into hers while tying your sneakers. she never moved away.
one night, the team had gathered at jackie’s house for a movie night, a tangled mess of limbs and blankets on the floor.
you ended up beside natalie, bodies pressed together in the dark. her hand rested on her stomach, dangerously close to yours.
you could feel the warmth radiating from her skin, but neither of you moved. not when she exhaled slowly, not when her pinky brushed yours so lightly it could’ve been an accident. you weren’t sure if you imagined it, but you swore you felt her shift just a little closer.
then there was the time in the school hallway. the team was heading to the cafeteria together, but natalie had stopped by her locker. you weren’t supposed to wait for her, weren’t supposed to lean against the metal beside her as she rummaged through her bag, weren’t supposed to mutter,
“hurry up, scatorccio,” in a tone only she would catch. she smirked at you then, slow and knowing, before tucking a pack of cigarettes into her jacket.
“gotta problem with me taking my time?” she murmured, just quiet enough that no one else heard.
you scoffed. “i’ve got a problem with you wasting mine.”
she grinned. “right.”
one friday night, after practice, you found her in the parking lot, perched on the hood of her dad’s beat-up mercury, cigarette balanced between her fingers. the night was cool, and the parking lot was empty save for the two of you.
“you need a ride?” she asked, eyes flicking up to meet yours.
“i’m good.”
“you sure? wouldn’t want you walking home all alone. bad things happen to good girls.”
“i never said i was good.”
her smirk widened, something dark flashing behind her eyes. “no, i guess you didn’t.”
you should’ve walked away. should’ve ignored the way her gaze lingered, how the glow of her cigarette lit up her face in a way that made your breath hitch. but instead, you stepped closer. just a fraction. just enough.
natalie tapped her cigarette, ashes scattering to the pavement. “you ever gonna admit you want me?”
you scoffed, crossing your arms. “your window’s already passed.”
she laughed, full and unbothered. “bullshit.”
you didn’t answer. you didn’t need to. she could read your mind just fine.
and that pissed you off.
because you hated it. the way she could see right through you. the way she knew you wanted her even when you wouldn’t admit it to yourself.
it made you want to punch her, just to get rid of the feeling clawing up your throat. you wanted to see her lip split open, watch her wipe the blood away with that smug little smirk because then at least you wouldn’t have to think about how badly you wanted to kiss her instead.
then, one night, she cornered you outside a party, the bass from inside thrumming through your ribs. her lip was split, a bruise already blooming high on her cheekbone, and she looked at you like she had all the answers.
“i owe you a black eye and two kisses,” she murmured, voice laced with amusement. “tell me when you wanna come get ‘em.”
your stomach tightened, heat crawling up your spine. natalie licked at the blood on her lip, watching you like she was waiting for you to call her bluff.
but this time, you didn’t want to call it.
you swallowed hard, fists clenching at your sides. “you don’t know what you’re asking for.”
natalie tilted her head, stepping into your space, forcing you to meet her gaze. “i know exactly what I’m asking for. and so do you.”
the words settled between you, heavy and inescapable. you wanted to fight her. you wanted to push her away. but more than that, you wanted her to keep going. to ruin you the way you knew only she could.
“say it,” she pressed, voice low, eyes dark. “say you want me.”
your breath hitched. “i—”
“i want you,” she said first, cutting you off. the game, finally over.
and just like that, the bottom dropped out from under you.
you would’ve walked away. but every inch of your body screamed for you to stay. you could feel the weight of her presence as if she was a magnet, pulling you closer, her eyes locked on you like she was reading your every thought.
“i’m not the type of girl who plays by the rules,” she said quietly, voice dripping with something between challenge and promise.
“and i'm not the type who gets caught up in trouble,” you shot back, but it sounded like a lie. you both knew it.
her lips curled into a knowing smile, eyes glinting with mischief. “yeah? that’s funny, because every time i look at you, you seem like you're trying to talk yourself out of something.”
you crossed your arms, shifting your weight to one foot, trying to steady your pulse, but her words hit you harder than you expected. you could feel her eyes on you, following every move, reading the way your body tightened when she came closer.
“trying to act all tough, but you’re standing here, aren't you?” she continued, her tone light but pointed. “guess that makes you just as bad as me.”
your heart skipped, the sting of her words digging into you. “don’t flatter yourself. i’m not playing your game.”
she took a step forward, and you couldn’t help but move back a fraction, but only because you didn’t want her to see how badly she was getting to you. “you’re already in it,” she said, voice dropping lower. "you think i don’t notice the way you look at me?"
your breath hitched, and you scoffed, doing everything you could to keep the distance. "i don't look at you."
natalie cocked her head, eyes narrowing in playful challenge. “really? ‘cause i could’ve sworn i saw you staring when i walked into practice today. or maybe it was when i grabbed that water bottle from you after the scrimage. funny how you can't keep your eyes off me, huh?”
you swallowed, fighting the flush rising in your chest. “you’re imagining things.”
“i’m not,” she said, voice dripping with confidence as she moved even closer. her scent, a mix of smoke and something sharp, intoxicating, wrapped around you. "i know you want to fight it. but you’re not fooling anyone. least of all me.”
“i’m not some fucking game,” you muttered, voice sharp, but shaky. you couldn’t keep the edge from your tone, couldn’t keep the uncertainty out of your voice.
“you’re already in it,” she repeated, her tone quiet but unwavering. “so why don’t you stop pretending? stop pretending you’re not already caught up in me. you don’t get to walk away anymore.”
her voice was so close now, you could feel the heat from her breath brushing against your skin, and every nerve in your body screamed for you to back away, but your feet stayed rooted. your heart thudded, each beat pulling you closer to her than you wanted to be.
“i’m not some... i’m not the type of girl who...” you started, but your words were getting tangled in the mess of thoughts she was creating in your head. you were losing control, and the worst part? you didn’t want it back.
“not the type of girl who what?” she murmured, leaning in just enough to make you feel every word. “who gets what she wants?”
you opened your mouth to say something, anything, but you couldn’t. the words were gone, smothered by the feeling of her closeness, the way she was looking at you, waiting for you to break.
“you’re just a little scared,” she whispered, a teasing lilt in her voice. “scared of what’s underneath all this. scared of what’ll happen if you let yourself want it.”
Your pulse spiked. “stop it.”
“no,” she said, her smile widening. “you start it.”
you could feel the air around you both thickening, charged, and the space between you two felt like it was closing in, getting tighter, until you could barely breathe.
you could taste the words you weren’t saying, hanging in the air, unbearable. and in that moment, you hated her, hated how she could do this to you—make you feel like this.
but you couldn’t pull away. you couldn’t fight it.
and she knew it.
“tell me,” she pressed, voice low, dangerous. “what do you want, huh?”
it wasn’t a question anymore. it was a command. and in the space between, you realized she wasn’t asking for an answer.
she already had the one she wanted.

The Spotlight is Ours Pt. 1
Tumblr media
Pairing: Aaron Pierre x Black Original Character
Summary: Two rising Black British stars in Hollywood. One fateful night at the NAACP Image Awards. When actress Sienna Sinclair presents the award for Outstanding Actor in a Limited Series, the winner is none other than Aaron Pierre. The chemistry is instant, the banter is effortless, and the connection? Dangerous. But in an industry where everyone is watching, some things are better left unsaid… or are they?
🔸 Warnings: Heavy flirtation, mutual pining, and the start of something messy. 🔸 Author’s Note: Welcome to the beginning of a very questionable love story.
The NAACP Image Awards were in full swing, a night dedicated to celebrating Black excellence in entertainment. The grandeur of the Pasadena Civic Auditorium was amplified by the shimmering gold and deep purple stage design, and the room was alive with applause, camera flashes, and the palpable energy of some of the biggest names in Hollywood.
Seated among the nominees, Aaron Pierre adjusted the cuffs of his custom black tuxedo, keeping his expression cool despite the slight thrum of anticipation in his chest. He had been nominated for Outstanding Actor in a Limited Television Series, Special, or Movie for his role in Rebel Ridge, a project that had tested his limits as an actor and elevated his career. Winning would be monumental, but he wasn’t the type to get ahead of himself.
As he sat waiting, his attention flickered to the stage where the next presenter was being introduced.
“Please welcome, the incredibly talented, Sienna Sinclair!”
Aaron’s brows lifted slightly as he watched Sienna Sinclair glide onto the stage, radiating effortless grace and confidence. He had heard of her, of course—the Oscar-winning British actress whose career had skyrocketed after her powerful performance in a historical drama. He had seen her on magazine covers, watched her interviews in passing, but seeing her in real life was… different.
Dressed in a form-fitting, midnight-blue gown, she exuded a kind of cool, magnetic energy. And then she spoke—her London accent cutting through the air, smooth yet commanding.
“Alright, alright. Let’s get to it,” she said, flashing a teasing smile as she opened the envelope. “The nominees for Outstanding Actor in a Limited Television Series, Special, or Movie are…”
Aaron barely heard the rest of the list. His focus was on her, the way she carried herself, how her presence seemed to pull attention like gravity.
Then—
“…and the NAACP Image Award goes to—” She paused, drawing out the suspense, her dark eyes flickering toward the camera with playful mischief.
“Aaron Pierre, for Rebel Ridge!”
The crowd erupted into applause.
Aaron blinked once before allowing a slow, satisfied smile to spread across his face. He stood, adjusting his suit with ease before making his way toward the stage, dap-ups and handshakes following him on the way.
When he reached the podium, he took the award from Sienna's hands, and for a brief moment, their fingers brushed. It was subtle, fleeting, but enough to make Aaron glance up and fully take her in.
Up close, she was even more stunning.
“Congratulations,” Sienna murmured, her voice just low enough for him to hear.
“Appreciate it,” Aaron replied smoothly, his deep voice wrapping around the word in a way that made Sienna’s lips twitch slightly.
Aaron turned toward the microphone, delivering a speech that was humble, thoughtful, and reflective of his journey. He spoke about the importance of storytelling, about the shared experiences of Black British and African-American actors carving out spaces in Hollywood, about how recognition like this was both an honor and a responsibility.
“I didn’t get here alone,” he finished, his rich voice sending a hush over the room. “To every young Black actor watching, to every kid dreaming beyond what they’ve been told is possible—we are the blueprint. And the best is still yet to come.”
Thunderous applause.
Sienna clapped alongside the audience before leaning into the mic. “And on top of all that… he’s also Mufasa.”
The crowd roared with laughter, and Aaron exhaled a quiet chuckle, shaking his head.
Sienna smirked at him. “Had to.”
Aaron gave her a look—amused, but also intrigued. “We’ll talk about this backstage.”
Sienna tilted her head, watching him as he walked off. “Looking forward to it.”
--
The post-win chaos was already unfolding backstage—cameras flashing, journalists waiting for quotes, production assistants ushering talent from one place to another. Aaron had barely had time to process the moment when he heard a familiar voice behind him.
“Well, well, look at you, Mr. Award Winner.”
Aaron turned.
Sienna Sinclair stood there, arms crossed, watching him with a smirk.
Aaron couldn’t help but let his gaze linger for half a second longer than necessary. “Didn’t expect to see you back here so soon.”
Sienna shrugged. “Had to personally congratulate you. You know, since I had the honor of saying your name on stage.”
Aaron nodded, a slow smirk tugging at his lips. “You did say it well. Very elegant.”
Sienna raised an eyebrow. “I do everything elegantly.”
Aaron exhaled a quiet chuckle. “Not doubting it.”
She tilted her head slightly. “So… how does it feel? Winning?”
Aaron glanced down at the trophy in his hand before looking back at her. “Feels good. But I won’t lie—hearing my name come out of your mouth might’ve been the highlight of the night.”
Sienna sucked her teeth, shaking her head, though there was something in her expression—something that said she wasn’t entirely unaffected by him.
“You’re full of it,” she teased.
Aaron leaned in slightly. “Am I?”
Sienna, ever the quick-witted one, smirked. “Yeah. And I can’t believe you let me call you out in front of everyone like that.”
Aaron shook his head. “The Mufasa jingle?”
Miracle nodded. “You knew I had to bring it up.”
Aaron narrowed his eyes playfully. “You enjoyed that way too much.”
“I did,” she admitted, her smirk widening. “And let’s be real, you love it. Don’t lie, you’ve sung it to yourself at least once.”
Aaron rubbed his jaw, his expression unreadable. “I’m not dignifying that with a response.”
Sienna laughed, tilting her head. “It’s alright, Aaron. Aaron Pierre, that’s Mufasa—it’s got a nice ring to it.”
Aaron exhaled a low chuckle, shaking his head. “You know, it’s unfair how much pleasure you’re getting out of this.”
“Oh, trust me, I could get pleasure out of a lot more than that.”
Aaron’s jaw tightened slightly, the air between them shifting from playful to something heavier.
Sienna’s eyes held his, dark and teasing. “But I’ll let you enjoy your win first.”
Aaron huffed a laugh, nodding. “So generous of you.”
She smirked. “You’re welcome.”
The moment stretched just a second longer than necessary—his gaze still locked with hers, her breath just a little deeper.
From across the backstage area, a production assistant called out to Sienna, signaling that she was needed elsewhere.
She exhaled, shaking her head as she took a step back. “Well, Mufasa, I’ll see you around.”
Aaron tilted his head slightly, watching as she turned and walked away, her presence lingering even after she disappeared from sight.
“Yeah,” he murmured to himself, a small smirk playing at the corner of his lips. “You will.”

Chapter Thirty Four
The morning sunlight filtered softly through the blinds, casting delicate ribbons of gold across my sheets. The warmth of it brushed against my skin, yet it did little to shake the lingering weight pressing down on my body. My eyes fluttered open, slow and reluctant, and for a long moment, I simply lay there, staring at the ceiling as my mind waded through the haze of exhaustion. Every muscle in my body felt heavy, as if I were still caught in the grasp of a restless sleep, but I refused to let it hold me down.
I took a deep breath, letting it fill my lungs before exhaling slowly, deliberately. With that breath, I pushed away the remnants of doubt, of hesitation. The past few days had drained me—mentally, emotionally—but I refused to let them dictate my present. Today, I wouldn’t allow Jungkook to linger in my thoughts like a shadow I couldn’t shake.
I had wasted enough time on him. On the weight of his words. On the way he had the audacity to insert himself back into my life without warning, without invitation. Whatever game he thought he was playing, whatever satisfaction he found in testing the limits of my patience, I wouldn’t give him the reaction he was looking for. I had a life that didn’t revolve around him. A job. A routine. And today, I was going to remind myself of that.
With newfound determination, I threw off the blankets, the cool air rushing to meet my skin in a sharp contrast to the warmth I had cocooned myself in. It was refreshing, waking me up in a way my thoughts couldn’t. Sitting up, I ran a hand through my hair, exhaling once more as if shedding the last remnants of my fatigue.
Today, I moved forward. With or without him in the background.
Monday
The rich aroma of freshly ground coffee beans and buttery pastries filled the air, wrapping around me like a familiar embrace. The comforting scent mixed with the low hum of conversation, the occasional clatter of mugs meeting saucers, and the whirring of the espresso machine—sounds that had long become second nature to me.
Mondays were always chaotic. The café buzzed with life as people poured in, some still half-asleep, others already wired from the rush of the morning. There was an unspoken understanding between all of us—that this was the first battle of the day. For them, it was making it to work in one piece. For me, it was keeping up with the endless stream of orders.
"Triple shot espresso. No sugar," a clipped voice ordered from across the counter.
I barely had to glance up to recognize the type. He was dressed in a charcoal-gray suit, the kind that probably cost more than my entire paycheck, his fingers flying over his phone screen as he typed furiously, completely detached from the present moment. His jaw was set in concentration, his expression unreadable, like whatever business he was handling was far more important than acknowledging the person taking his order.
I punched it in without hesitation. "Regular or large?"
"Large," he muttered distractedly.
Figures.
I moved on quickly. A young woman rushed up next, her oversized glasses sliding down the bridge of her nose as she dug through her tote bag, muttering under her breath.
"Hi—um, could I get a matcha latte, please? With almond milk?"
I offered a reassuring smile. She looked like she was one wrong step away from completely unraveling.
"Of course. Sweetened or unsweetened?"
She froze, clearly unprepared for the question. "Oh! Uh… sweetened, please." She finally pulled out her wallet, already fumbling for change. "Sorry, I’m a mess. I’m late for a meeting, and—"
"Don’t worry," I said smoothly, noting down her order with practiced ease. "Mondays are chaotic for everyone."
She let out a breathy laugh, shaking her head. "You have no idea."
Next in line was a mother wrangling two restless kids, both of whom were eyeing the pastry display like it held the meaning of life. She sighed, tired but indulgent.
"Large caramel macchiato for me. And…" she hesitated, already knowing what was coming.
"Chocolate chip muffins!" one of the kids shouted, practically bouncing on their heels.
The other quickly followed. "Please!"
Their mother groaned but couldn’t hold back her smile. "Alright, fine. Two muffins."
The kids cheered as I rang up the order, their excitement a stark contrast to the sluggishness of the adults around them.
The steady rhythm of work, the back-and-forth with customers, the ease of falling into routine—it was comforting. The world outside didn’t matter in here. For the first time in days, I felt good. Like I was in control again, like I had shaken off the weight that had been dragging me down.
Then, just as I turned to take the next order, a voice cut through the noise—low, smooth, and laced with something infuriatingly familiar.
"One black coffee. No sugar, no milk."
The words themselves were simple, but the voice? It coiled around me, threading through my spine, tugging at something in my chest that I wanted to ignore.
My fingers curled instinctively around the register, the momentary jolt of irritation catching me off guard before I forced myself to relax. I lifted my gaze, slowly, already knowing exactly what I’d find.
And there he was.
Jungkook stood on the other side of the counter, leaning against it like he owned the place, all lazy confidence and knowing smirks. His dark eyes gleamed with amusement, as if he had been waiting for this exact moment, as if he had planned this.
I exhaled sharply through my nose, tilting my head. "What are you doing here?"
His lips twitched, his smirk deepening. "Getting a drink. Thought that was obvious."
I scoffed, reaching for a cup. "Oh yeah? Like there aren’t a thousand other cafés you could go to?"
He shrugged, his gaze never wavering. "Maybe I like this one."
My hands moved on autopilot, pouring his coffee while keeping my expression carefully neutral. "The atmosphere must be really inviting, then."
Jungkook hummed, resting his forearm on the counter, watching me with an almost amused fascination. "Something like that."
I slid his coffee toward him with a little more force than necessary, the cup landing with a soft but pointed thud. "Enjoy."
But he didn’t leave. He took a slow, deliberate sip instead, his eyes locked onto mine the entire time, like he was testing me, waiting to see how long I’d last before snapping.
I refused to give him the satisfaction.
Just when I thought he might finally walk away, he leaned in slightly, voice lower than before, almost teasing.
"See you tomorrow."
My stomach twisted. My jaw clenched.
Before I could respond, he turned on his heel and strolled out, the scent of his cologne lingering in his wake.
I stared at the space he left behind, frustration curling in my chest like a slow-burning fire.
Tomorrow?
Absolutely not.
Tuesday
I told myself it was a one-time thing.
That he had just been trying to get under my skin, that it was nothing more than a passing whim. He’d had his fun, gotten the reaction he wanted, and moved on.
But of course, I had underestimated just how insufferable Jungkook could be.
The café was alive with the usual morning chaos—voices overlapping, coffee machines whirring, the scent of espresso and freshly baked pastries thick in the air. Customers streamed in, some barely functioning as they murmured their orders, others already in the thick of their morning routines, phones pressed to ears, fingers typing at lightning speed. I was midway through handing off an oat milk cappuccino when that voice cut through the noise again.
"One black coffee. No sugar, no milk."
For a brief second, my fingers curled into fists beneath the counter, my nails digging into my palm. I knew that voice too well. It had a way of threading through my nerves, coiling tight, making my pulse stutter in a way I wished it didn’t.
Slowly, I exhaled through my nose, willing the irritation out of my system before reaching for a cup with measured ease.
"Didn’t get enough yesterday?" I asked, keeping my tone dry as I started his order.
Jungkook leaned against the counter, completely at ease, as if this was just another morning for him—like he belonged here. He tilted his head slightly, a smirk already tugging at his lips.
"Told you," he said smoothly. "I like this place."
I raised an eyebrow, giving him a look of pure skepticism. "Right. And that has nothing to do with me being here?"
His smirk widened, dark eyes glinting with something unreadable. "Didn’t say that."
I rolled my eyes, not even bothering to dignify that with a response as I slid his coffee across the counter. His hand was already waiting, fingers brushing mine in a fleeting, barely-there touch. It was the smallest contact, nothing at all, really.
And yet, I still pulled away a second too late.
Jungkook, of course, noticed.
He always noticed.
"You always this eager to get rid of your customers?" he mused, lifting the cup to his lips.
"Just the ones who overstay their welcome," I shot back without missing a beat.
He chuckled, the sound low and rich, shaking his head slightly. "See you tomorrow."
My hands clenched under the counter as I watched him walk out, the weight of his words settling heavily in my chest.
Tomorrow.
Of course.
Wednesday
"One black coffee—"
"No sugar, no milk. Yeah, I got it," I cut him off before he could finish, already reaching for a cup. My movements were brisk, efficient, leaving no room for conversation.
Jungkook chuckled, the sound low and undeniably amused. "You remember my order. I’m touched."
I didn’t look up, focusing instead on pouring the steaming liquid into his cup. "It’s hard not to when it’s been the same for three days in a row."
His smirk was almost audible in his voice. "So you’ve been keeping track?"
I finally met his gaze, unimpressed. "That’s usually what happens when someone shows up at the same place, at the same time, ordering the same thing over and over again."
Jungkook hummed thoughtfully, tilting his head as if considering my words. But then, instead of another teasing remark, his expression shifted—just slightly. The sharp edges of amusement softened into something else. Something quieter.
Something unreadable.
"You always this grumpy in the morning?" he asked, his tone more curious than taunting.
"Only when certain people walk in," I shot back, sliding his cup across the counter with a little more force than necessary.
His grin widened, eyes glinting with something undeniably entertained. He took a slow sip, his gaze never leaving mine as if committing my reaction to memory.
"Good to know I have that effect on you," he murmured, stepping back. "Tomorrow, same time."
And then he was gone, leaving behind the faint scent of cologne and the frustrating certainty that this wasn’t over.
I exhaled sharply, pressing my fingers against my temples.
How much longer was this going to last?
Thursday
By now, I could sense him before he even reached the counter. It was like my body had developed an instinct specifically for detecting Jungkook’s presence—an unfortunate survival mechanism that I hadn’t asked for.
I didn’t bother looking up as I grabbed a cup. "You really have nothing better to do with your time, do you?"
"Not when the company is this good," Jungkook said smoothly, stepping up to the counter with that ever-present smirk tugging at his lips. His dark eyes gleamed with something unreadable, like he was enjoying a joke that only he understood.
I huffed, pouring his coffee with more force than necessary. "Flattery won’t get you free coffee."
"Who said I was trying to get it for free?" He leaned against the counter, watching me with the kind of lazy amusement that made my skin prickle. "Maybe I just like seeing you first thing in the morning."
I stilled for a fraction of a second before shoving his cup toward him. "You need a new hobby."
He took the coffee, but as always, he didn’t leave right away. Instead, he lingered, his fingers grazing mine ever so slightly as he grabbed the cup. A shiver trailed up my arm, but I forced myself to ignore it.
Jungkook grinned, tilting his head slightly. "You’re cute when you’re annoyed, you know that?"
I scowled. "And you’re annoying all the time, you know that?"
His laughter was low and warm, entirely unbothered. "I like this little routine of ours."
"This isn’t a routine," I shot back, exasperated.
He lifted his cup in a mock toast. "If you say so. See you tomorrow Aylah."
I opened my mouth to argue, but he was already walking away, leaving me standing there, fuming and—much to my own irritation—already bracing myself for whatever the hell tomorrow would bring.
Friday
The soft chime of the door rang through the café, and I didn’t even need to look up. My hands were already tightening around the counter, bracing myself.
"One black coffee—"
I groaned, already reaching for a cup. "You’re actually insane."
Jungkook’s smirk appeared instantly, effortless and teasing, like he had been waiting for that exact reaction. He strolled up to the counter with the same easy confidence he always carried, dark eyes glinting as he drummed his fingers lazily against the wood.
"You should’ve seen this coming," he said, voice smooth.
"Why are you doing this?" I asked, lowering my voice slightly.
Jungkook raised a brow, feigning innocence. "What do you mean?"
"You know exactly what I mean." I met his stare, my grip on the cup tightening slightly. "What do you get out of this?"
For a brief moment, something flickered in his gaze—something unreadable, something that didn’t quite match the smirk playing on his lips. But just as quickly, it was gone.
"Maybe I just like seeing you flustered," he murmured, his voice almost challenging.
I scoffed, shoving his coffee toward him. "Try harder."
Normally, this would be the part where he took his drink and left, leaving behind nothing but a smirk and the promise of returning tomorrow.
But this time, he didn’t.
Instead, Jungkook casually turned away from the counter and made his way toward the seating area, sliding into one of the corner booths. He pulled his cap lower over his face, adjusting his sunglasses, but even with the half-assed disguise, people still recognized him.
It started with whispers—hushed, excited murmurs traveling through the café like wildfire. Then, one by one, customers started approaching him, clutching their phones, their voices hushed but eager.
"Excuse me, Jungkook? Can I get an autograph?"
"Oh my god, is it really you?"
"Just one picture, please!"
It was like watching a storm slowly build, a quiet hum of excitement growing into something louder, something almost chaotic. The café, which had already been busy, was suddenly packed, customers pouring in with barely disguised curiosity, their eyes flickering toward the corner booth.
Behind me, my coworkers were watching the scene unfold, their expressions varying from amused to downright starry-eyed.
"Damn," Leah muttered, crossing her arms. "He really is popular."
Cyrus whistled lowly. "You think I could get his autograph?"
Serena, balancing a tray of pastries, shook her head in disbelief. "I don’t think we’ve ever had this many customers."
I exhaled, rubbing my temple. "One of you needs to get rid of him."
Cyrus looked at me like I had grown three heads. "What? No. The guy is a money magnet." He gestured around the café, where customers were buying drinks just for an excuse to linger. "Yeah, rush hour sucks, but think of the pay raise we might get because of this."
Leah and Serena exchanged glances before their eyes glazed over slightly, as if they were already imagining the shopping sprees they could go on with the extra cash.
I snapped my fingers in front of their faces. "Focus. He’s an inconvenience. He needs to leave."
Cyrus smirked. "Come on, AJ. The guy definitely likes you if he’s willing to come in and annoy you every single day."
I rolled my eyes. "He doesn’t like me."
Leah snorted. "Yeah, and Serena is the best drinker in the world."
"Hey!" Serena shot back, looking genuinely offended.
Cyrus shook his head, grinning. "Denial isn’t a good look on you, AJ."
I scowled. "I’m not in denial. I just know exactly what kind of person Jungkook is."
Leah arched a brow. "And what kind of person is that?"
I exhaled sharply, leveling her with a look. "The kind who plays games. The kind who enjoys getting under people’s skin just because he can."
Leah hummed, tapping a finger against her chin. "Or… the kind who keeps showing up at a café every single morning just to see one particular barista."
Cyrus smirked. "Exactly."
I opened my mouth to argue, but before I could, another voice cut through the conversation.
"AJ," Serena hissed, subtly jerking her chin toward the counter. "Incoming."
I turned just in time to see Jungkook approaching again, coffee in hand, his expression unreadable. His sunglasses were hooked onto the collar of his hoodie now, exposing dark, knowing eyes that locked onto mine without hesitation.
"Problem?" he asked, amusement laced in his tone.
I crossed my arms. "Yeah. You."
Jungkook tsked, shaking his head like he was disappointed in me. "And here I was, thinking we were getting along."
I gave him a blank stare. "You’re causing a scene."
He gestured around as if to say, So?
I clenched my jaw. "Look, I get it. This is fun for you. Showing up every day, annoying me, making my coworkers think there’s something going on between us."
He smirked. "There’s not?"
I nearly growled. "No."
Cyrus, who was definitely eavesdropping, coughed loudly, muttering something that sounded suspiciously like bullshit. I ignored him.
Jungkook leaned forward slightly, resting an elbow on the counter. "So, you want me to leave?"
"Yes."
"Say please."
I glared. "Get out."
He laughed, low and amused, but didn’t move. Instead, he took another slow sip of his coffee, dragging out the moment just to get on my nerves. It worked.
"You’re impossible," I muttered under my breath.
Jungkook’s lips quirked. "And yet, you still make my coffee every morning."
Before I could fire back, Leah suddenly grabbed my arm, dragging me a few steps back. She smiled sweetly at Jungkook. "AJ will be right back!"
Then, she spun me around, lowering her voice. "Okay, real talk. You need to do something about this."
I pinched the bridge of my nose. "I am doing something. I’m telling him to leave, and he’s ignoring me."
Leah sighed. "Then ignore him back. Either he’ll get bored and stop coming, or—"
"Or?" I prompted, narrowing my eyes.
"Or you’ll realize you like the attention and stop fighting it."
I scoffed. "Not happening."
Serena suddenly poked her head into our little huddle, eyes alight with mischief. "So, if Jungkook were to ask you out, what would you do?"
"Say no," I said immediately.
Cyrus chuckled. "That was fast. Almost too fast."
I groaned, pushing past them and returning to the counter, where Jungkook was still standing, watching the whole thing with an amused tilt of his head.
"You done gossiping?" he asked.
I let out a sigh. "Are you done ruining my morning?"
Jungkook grinned, the kind of grin that told me he had no intention of stopping anytime soon. "Not even close."
And with that, he turned, heading back toward his table like he had all the time in the world.
I watched him go, jaw tightening as more customers swarmed toward him, whispering, giggling, slipping him napkins with their numbers scrawled across them.
Cyrus leaned against the counter beside me, shaking his head with a smirk. "Like I said, denial doesn’t look good on you, AJ."
An hour had passed, and yet he remained comfortably seated in the corner booth, sipping his now-empty coffee like he had all the time in the world. His disguise did nothing to deter the flood of customers sneaking glances, whispering excitedly, or outright approaching him for selfies and autographs.
It was driving me insane.
My coworkers weren’t helping either. If anything, they were thriving in the chaos.
“Okay, but seriously, AJ," Leah muttered as she slid past me with a tray of drinks. "Have you looked at him? If he stared at me the way he stares at you, I think I’d actually combust.”
I shot her a glare. "He does not stare at me."
Cyrus leaned over from behind the espresso machine, looking far too entertained. "Oh, he so does."
Serena popped up beside him. "I counted. He’s looked over here at least twelve times in the past five minutes."
I rubbed my temples. "Are you all seriously keeping track?"
"Absolutely," Leah said without hesitation.
I groaned, turning my attention back to the line of customers, actual paying customers who weren’t just here to breathe the same air as Jungkook. I focused on taking orders, doing my best to ignore the way he lingered in my periphery.
But of course, he had no intention of letting me.
I was handing a latte to a woman when he strolled back up to the counter, casual as ever.
"Another black coffee?" I asked dryly, already reaching for a cup.
Jungkook tilted his head. "Nah. Thought I’d try something different today."
That caught me off guard. My hand hesitated over the register. "Different?"
"Mhm." His lips twitched, eyes glinting with amusement. "Surprise me."
I blinked. "You want me to pick your drink?"
Jungkook shrugged. "You are the expert, aren’t you?"
Cyrus let out a low whistle from the espresso machine, and I resisted the urge to throw something at him.
I pursed my lips, considering. If he wanted to play games, fine. I could play too.
Without another word, I grabbed a cup and started preparing a drink. Jungkook watched me closely, but I ignored him, moving through the motions with precise, practiced ease.
When I was done, I slid the cup toward him. "Try that."
Jungkook lifted a brow before taking a slow sip. The moment the taste hit his tongue, his expression flickered—just for a second.
I smirked. "Too sweet for you?"
His jaw tightened slightly. "What is this?"
"A caramel macchiato with extra vanilla," I said innocently. "Figured I'd balance out all that bitterness."
Leah, Cyrus, and Serena snorted in unison.
Jungkook exhaled through his nose, placing the cup back on the counter. "Cute."
I crossed my arms. "Glad you think so."
He studied me for a long moment, something unreadable flickering behind his gaze. And then, to my absolute shock, he picked the cup back up and took another sip.
I blinked. "You’re actually drinking it?"
He shrugged. "Told you. You’re the expert."
Cyrus leaned in, eyes wide with mock surprise. "Wow. He actually listens to you. Maybe you really do have him wrapped around your finger."
Jungkook smirked at that, but I could tell by the way he was watching me—like he was waiting for a reaction—that he was more interested in my response than whatever Cyrus was implying.
I rolled my eyes. "If I did, he wouldn’t be here."
Jungkook laughed, a low, amused sound. "Keep telling yourself that."
And with that, he turned and walked back to his booth, caramel macchiato in hand.
I stared after him, frustration curling in my chest.
He was enjoying this too much.
Then after what felt like an eternity of dealing with an overpacked café, endless drink orders, and Jungkook’s insufferable presence, it was finally time for me to clock out.
The rush had died down, the café now quiet except for the low hum of the overhead lights and the distant sound of traffic outside. My coworkers had left a while ago—Leah practically skipping out the door while Serena and Cyrus bickered about who made the most tips. Even Adam had some business to attend to, leaving me alone to lock up for the night.
Well… not entirely alone.
Because, of course, right by my side—leaning against the counter like he had all the time in the world—was Jungkook.
I shot him an unimpressed look as I wiped down the espresso machine. "You do realize the café is closed, right?"
He smirked, arms crossed over his chest. "And yet, here I am."
"Unfortunately."
Jungkook let out a low chuckle, clearly enjoying how much this annoyed me. "You always this grumpy after work?"
I sighed, tossing the rag onto the counter. "I wouldn't know. Usually, I leave after work. But for some reason, I'm stuck here with you."
He shrugged. "Could be worse."
I scoffed, grabbing the keys. "Doubt it."
With a final glance around the café, I moved to switch off the lights. But before I could, Jungkook spoke again, his voice carrying that same teasing lilt.
"You really hate me that much?"
I paused, my fingers hovering over the switch.
Hate? No. That wasn’t the right word.
Annoyed? Definitely. Frustrated? Without a doubt. But hate?
I turned to face him, arms crossed. "You’re just unbearable."
Jungkook tilted his head, considering my words. Then, with an easy smirk, he pushed off the counter and took a slow step closer.
"That’s funny," he murmured. "Because you’re the only person who talks to me like this."
I blinked, caught off guard. "Like what?"
"Like you don’t care who I am." His gaze flickered across my face, searching for something. "Like I’m just some guy who annoys the hell out of you every morning."
I frowned. "Because you are just some guy who annoys the hell out of me every morning."
Jungkook huffed out a small laugh, shaking his head. "You really don’t make this easy, do you?"
"Make what easy?"
He didn’t answer immediately. Instead, his gaze lingered on me for a second longer, something unreadable in his expression. Then, as if deciding against whatever he was going to say, he sighed and took a step back.
"Never mind," he muttered. "Come on, let’s lock up."
I narrowed my eyes. "We aren’t locking up—I am. You are leaving."
Jungkook smirked. "Tomato, tomahto."
I groaned. "Get out."
With a chuckle, he strolled toward the door, hands in his pockets, looking far too pleased with himself. But just before stepping outside, he turned his head slightly, flashing me one last glance.
"Want to grab something to eat?"
I blinked. "No."
Jungkook rolled his eyes. "Come on. You can hate me after we eat."
I gave him a flat, sarcastic smile. "I want to hate you before, during, and after."
He let out a low laugh. "Ha-ha. Very funny. But seriously, your stomach’s growling."
I opened my mouth to protest—only to stop when I realized he was right. The betrayal of my own body was loud enough for him to hear, and he was clearly enjoying it.
I hesitated, my fingers tightening around the keys as I considered my options.
"If I eat with you," I said slowly, "will you stop coming to the café?" I looked up at him, forcing some hope into my expression.
Jungkook held my gaze for a second before bursting into laughter. A full, amused laugh that had his head tilting back slightly. Then, as his laughter died down, he grinned and said—
"No."
I groaned. "Oh, come on. Go back to Canada. Why are you wasting your time here?"
Jungkook tilted his head, watching me with a flicker of something unreadable in his gaze. Then he shrugged. "Maybe I like pissing you off."
"Maybe I hate that you’re pissing me off."
"Maybe I don’t believe you."
I let out a frustrated sigh. "Maybe I don’t care what you believe."
Jungkook just smirked, stuffing his hands into his pockets as he stepped outside, waiting for me to lock up. The night air was crisp, a welcome change from the warmth of the café. I locked the door with a sigh, turning back to find him still watching me.
"Come on," he said, nodding toward the street. "Let’s go eat."
I hesitated before sighing, dragging a hand down my face. "This is going to be hell, isn’t it?"
Jungkook grinned. "Probably."
Jungkook led me down a few blocks before we stopped in front of a tall, sleek building that radiated opulence. The sign above the entrance was discreet, yet undeniably high-end, with bold, gold lettering reading, Le Jardin Royale. The soft glow of the lights spilling out onto the sidewalk only added to its air of exclusivity. The marble floors in the lobby gleamed beneath our feet as we stepped inside. The restaurant was luxurious in every sense—chandeliers hanging from the high ceiling, softly glowing candles illuminating dark wood tables with pristine white tablecloths. Everything about the place screamed sophistication, the kind of place you only saw in the glossy pages of magazines, places that were designed for the rich, the powerful.
I stopped in my tracks for a moment, taking in the polished ambiance around me. This wasn’t the kind of place I was used to—not even close. I could already feel my nerves tightening, my usual comfort zone disappearing with every step. My gaze traveled to the velvet seating, the intricate floral arrangements on each table, and the uniformed staff moving with a practiced elegance that was almost too smooth. This wasn’t just fancy—it was something else. A world of excess, a world where I didn’t belong.
Jungkook must have noticed the expression on my face because he let out a soft chuckle.
"Like what you see?" he asked, his voice teasing, his eyes glinting with that same playful arrogance that I had come to really dislike.
I immediately wiped the surprise from my face, schooling my expression into something neutral. I looked away, feigning disinterest. "It’s… fine," I muttered, trying to hide the hint of awe that had snuck into my voice despite my best efforts.
His laugh rang in my ears as he led me deeper into the restaurant, guiding me past an array of tables full of well-dressed patrons who all seemed to be in the midst of business deals or fancy dinners. I tried to keep my eyes forward, doing my best to stay in control of myself. He was enjoying this way too much, and that only made me more irritated.
When we finally reached the front of the dining room, a well-dressed waiter approached, his demeanor as smooth and polished as the restaurant itself. His voice was polite but with an air of formality as he asked, "Good evening. What name is the booking under?"
Jungkook turned to him with an easy, almost regal grin. "Mr. and Mrs. Jeon," he said proudly.
I froze, feeling my heart skip a beat. What the hell?
I couldn’t keep my confusion from showing on my face as I stared at him. "Wait... what?"
The waiter, unfazed, led us to our table while Jungkook continued as if he hadn’t said anything out of the ordinary. The opulence of the place seemed to swallow us up with its quiet atmosphere, but my mind was still stuck on what he had just said.
"Mr. and Mrs. Jeon?" I repeated, my voice a little louder than I intended. My words were laced with disbelief. "What the fuck, Jungkook? We are not married!"
He chuckled darkly, his gaze never leaving me. "Why not? You’d look good as my wife."
The words caught me off guard, and I felt my face heat up immediately. I quickly turned my head, hoping to hide my embarrassment. There was no way I was going to let him see me flustered. But my attempt to regain composure only seemed to fuel his smugness.
I took a deep breath, trying to steady myself, but it was hard to ignore the heat creeping up my neck. Why did he have to say that? I cleared my throat and turned back to him, forcing my voice to sound unaffected. "T-that’s not the point, Jungkook. I don’t like you, so why the hell would I marry you?"
He took a step forward, closing the space between us with a quiet confidence that made me take a half-step back. There was that infuriating smirk again, but this time, it looked like it held something deeper, something that made me uneasy.
"We’ll see about that, princess," he said softly, his words dripping with that same teasing arrogance that made my pulse race for all the wrong reasons.
We finally sat down at the table, the waiter offering us menus with a polite nod. As he left, I still couldn’t shake the unease in my stomach. I wasn’t sure what had come over me tonight, but Jungkook seemed to have an effect on me that I couldn’t ignore.
The silence between us was heavy, but Jungkook seemed content to let it linger. His fingers traced the edge of his glass idly, but his eyes never strayed far from mine. His gaze was as intense as ever, and I couldn’t tell if he was trying to figure me out, or if he was just enjoying seeing me squirm. Either way, I hated how much power he had over me.
I let out a long breath and shifted uncomfortably in my seat, trying to focus on the menu in front of me. But I could feel his eyes on me, waiting for me to break the silence.
I glanced at the menu, trying to focus on the extensive options in front of me, but my mind kept drifting back to Jungkook’s playful smirk and the ridiculous conversation we’d just had. I hadn’t come here for this, but now that I was sitting across from him at one of the most expensive restaurants I had ever seen, I felt like I had no choice but to go along with it.
"Anything you like?" Jungkook asked, his voice casual as he skimmed the menu, but there was a glint of amusement in his eyes as he watched me fidget.
I hesitated for a moment, thinking about what I should get. I wasn’t even sure what half the dishes were, but I didn’t want to look like a complete amateur. "I guess... the filet mignon looks good," I muttered, my fingers tapping nervously on the table.
Jungkook didn’t respond immediately. Instead, he leaned back in his chair, tapping his fingers on the side of his water glass. "Do you actually wan’t that?" he said, a little too knowingly. "Or are you just going along with whatever sounds good?"
Before I could answer, he cut me off with a smirk. "You do realize it’s a waste of money when you don't really like steak, right?"
I rolled my eyes. "You don’t know what I like, Jungkook."
"Sure I do," he said, raising an eyebrow. "Anything I say, right?"
I was about to retort when a voice broke through the moment, a familiar one that made my stomach drop.
"AJ?"
I looked up, my gaze snapping to the tall figure who had suddenly appeared next to our table. Adam.
I didn’t expect to see him here, and my heart skipped when I saw his expression. He looked surprised at first, then confused, and then... something else I couldn’t quite name.
"Oh, Adam, I didn’t know you were here," I said quickly, trying to keep my voice calm, though my nerves were getting the best of me.
He frowned, clearly not expecting to see me with anyone, especially him. "Yeah, I was having dinner with a potential business partner," he said, his eyes flicking to Jungkook. "What are you doing here? With him?" His tone shifted to something more annoyed, maybe even a little possessive.
Jungkook didn’t miss a beat. He sat up straighter, his gaze sharp. "We’re on a date," he said proudly, a smirk tugging at his lips.
I blinked, eyes wide with disbelief. "We are not on a date," I shot back quickly, my face heating up at the accusation.
I turned to Adam, feeling awkward now that everything seemed so... off. "He was the last customer and I hadn’t eaten before locking up so I agreed to dinner with him."
But before I could finish, Jungkook interrupted me again. "Exactly," he said, leaning back in his chair like he owned the place, "A date."
I glared at him, my frustration bubbling up. "No, it’s not," I hissed under my breath.
Jungkook only shrugged, unaffected by my irritation. He redirected his attention back to Adam, his gaze suddenly colder. "Now, if you don’t mind, fuck off so I can spend time with my girl," he said, his voice sharp.
I slapped his hand, which had been resting casually on the table. "Behave yourself, i am not your girl," I muttered. "You can take a seat if you want Adam, we were just about to order."
Adam shook his head with a chuckle, but his expression was still guarded. "I would, but there’s a few more things I gotta take care of so i’ll see you around, AJ," he said, his voice soft but with a hint of something unspoken.
"Oh, okay," I said, my heart sinking a little. "I’ll see you Monday."
Before I could blink, Adam was leaning over, gently taking my hand and planting a soft kiss on it. "Take care of yourself," he said, his eyes meeting mine for just a moment.
My face turned bright red. "I-I will," I stammered out, my voice trembling slightly.
As Adam pulled away, my gaze lingered on him, a strange heaviness in my chest. He walked off, and I could feel Jungkook's intense stare boring into me.I quickly turned to face him, trying to ignore the annoying tension that seemed to be growing between us. "What?" I snapped, frustrated.
Jungkook didn’t answer immediately. Instead, he glared at Adam’s retreating figure and then turned back to me, his voice low and serious. "Just so you know, I held back because of you," he said, his tone more dangerous than usual.
I raised an eyebrow, confused. "What are you talking about?"
"If he tries to kiss you again, next time you see him, he won’t be recognizable," Jungkook warned, his voice cold and calculating.
I stared at him, trying to process his words. "You’re insane," I muttered under my breath, but Jungkook’s eyes were still locked on me, unwavering.
Annoyed and caught off guard, I slapped his hand that was resting on the table again, just to snap him out of his weird mood. "Ow!" he exclaimed, rubbing his hand in mock pain.
"Behave yourself or I’m leaving," I said sternly, though I was secretly rattled by what he had said.
Jungkook put his hands up in mock surrender. "Fine, fine," he said, his voice light, but there was a strange glimmer of something unreadable in his gaze.
I gave him one last look before pushing my chair back. "Let’s just eat and get out of here," I said, not wanting to deal with any more weirdness.
The rest of the meal passed in an odd, tense silence. Jungkook didn’t say anything more about Adam, and I didn’t bring it up either. We ate, but it was like we were both trapped in our own heads, each of us silently navigating the growing distance between us. The clink of silverware on plates and the soft murmur of conversations around us felt distant, like they belonged to a world that wasn’t ours. I kept stealing glances at Jungkook, but every time our eyes met, it was like he was just slightly out of reach, as if there was something he wasn’t saying, something left unspoken between us.
The food was good, but my appetite had long since vanished. My thoughts were scattered—mostly around Adam and Jungkook, the tension I couldn’t shake, and the strange pull I felt toward Jungkook despite everything. We had never really crossed that line, yet something about the way he kept showing up, something about his persistence, made me feel like I was teetering on the edge of something I couldn’t quite grasp.
When the check came, there was no hesitation from Jungkook. Without a word, he picked it up and handed over his card. I wanted to protest, wanted to insist on paying my own way for once, but the words got stuck in my throat. It was easier to let him take care of it, easier to swallow down the urge to argue, just for tonight.
Afterward, he offered to walk me home. The words felt unexpected, yet they lingered in the air like they were supposed to mean something more. I wasn’t sure why I didn’t refuse. Maybe it was the exhaustion settling in after the long day. Maybe it was just the need to escape the sterile, suffocating atmosphere of the restaurant. Or maybe, deep down, I didn’t want to be alone with my thoughts. Whatever the reason, I didn’t protest. I just nodded, and we both stood up and left the restaurant.
The night was cold, the kind of crisp chill that settled in your bones, but it didn’t bother me as much as I thought it would. The city was quieter now, the usual buzz of traffic and chatter subdued by the lateness of the hour. The streets stretched out before us, bathed in the pale glow of streetlights that painted everything in long, stretching shadows. We walked side by side, but the air between us felt heavy, filled with unspoken words and thoughts neither of us dared to voice.
Jungkook walked a little too close, his presence constant, almost suffocating. Every step he took was in sync with mine, and I couldn’t shake the feeling that he was purposely staying just close enough for me to feel him.  As I reached the front door, I paused, turning to face him one last time. There was something in the air—something that lingered, an unspoken tension between us, and I couldn’t shake the feeling that this wasn’t over. I crossed my arms and met his gaze. "Are you going to stop following me now?" I asked, my voice firm but tired.
Jungkook didn’t respond right away. He just stood there, his eyes softening as he looked at me, studying me in a way that made my heart beat faster, even though I didn’t want it to.
"No," he finally said, his tone low but steady. "I’m going to keep trying until I make things right. You can push me away. Hell, you can even fight me, but I’m not stopping until things are the way they should be."
I stared at him, not sure how to respond. The weight of his words hung in the air, and it was hard to ignore the sincerity behind them. I didn’t want to acknowledge it, but something deep inside me told me that he was serious.
Before I could speak, he stepped closer. I froze, caught off guard, as Jungkook leaned forward. Then, without warning, his lips pressed softly to my forehead.
"Good night," he murmured quietly, his voice like a promise.
My breath caught in my throat, and before I could react, he pulled away. I stood there, frozen, my hand instinctively lifting to touch my forehead where his kiss lingered. The door clicked shut behind me, but I couldn’t stop thinking about the warmth of his lips on my skin. My face flushed, heat spreading across my cheeks as the tingling sensation in my chest lingered.
I closed my eyes for a moment, trying to collect myself, but the feeling was overwhelming. His kiss... it was different. It wasn’t like Adam’s. Adam’s kisses always felt innocent, like a first crush, something light and new and untainted. But Jungkook’s kiss? It was something else entirely. It felt like two souls meeting after years of separation—like we were being drawn together by some invisible force that neither of us could resist, no matter how hard we tried. There was a depth to it, an intensity, something that left me breathless and unsure of what to do next.
I pressed my hand to my chest, feeling my heart race even as I tried to rationalize everything that had just happened. I didn’t know what was going on with Jungkook. I didn’t know what this meant, or why he was doing this, but I couldn’t deny the pull I felt when he was around.
As I leaned against the door, trying to steady my breath, I couldn’t help but wonder if things would ever go back to normal—or if this was only the beginning of something completely different.

I want to interact with people, right? But if only someone could pick me a topic like some formal discussion with moderator and topic and all, that would be fantastic.
Or maybe a sirene that will told me to stop joking about my life if the other side of this interaction either won't get it, will be offended, or the jokes are too sad to be joked about.
I don't understand why it took me this much brain energy to do what other people see as breathing.

(Alternatively, I may have started it, but @katkastrofa enabled me and now I’m losing my mind)
#Kat and Nia and their multiverse of madness#first rule of interacting with Nia: don’t suggest a dark/whumpy/extremely angsty concept to them#they’ll take it and run a marathon with it and next thing you know their own ideas are making them cry#this is just what happens when I start developing an OC during a rough time in my life#happens every time. guess who came up with Summiya’s fall from grace after their college application fell through??#and since Summiya has a more or less completed storyline. it’s now someone else’s turn#namely Jia’s. also Sunat’s but. mostly Jia’s. Sunat is more angst than whump and I’m craving PAIN#I’ve been frothing at the mouth thinking about Jia all day#just.. imagine how terrified she must have been when she was brought before Jusamah. when he said that he’d make her talk one way or another#and if she doesn’t want to obey and confess willingly… something else can be arranged#how her fear got even worse when she was dragged into the palace dungeons. when she saw the whipping post#begging for mercy as she was stripped and tied. swearing on her life that she doesn’t know anything. that she’s innocent#rambling incoherently right up until the first hit lands. after that it’s just screams and sobs and barely audible ‘I don’t know’s#all the while she’s yelled at by a man three times her age who refuses to believe that she truly doesn’t know anything#and she doesn’t. all she did was point Aiza in a direction. she has no proof she even went in it#I don’t want to get to graphic here but let’s just say I read an article on whipping and it’s.. it’s bad#the aftermath is brutal and bloody and passing out from the pain would be a mercy#and afterwards… I do think someone is called to tend to her so she doesn’t bleed to death before they can get a confession out of her#and that person is kind. if a little detached emotionally. and likely her back could have been salvaged if the whipping didn’t repeat#but it did. because they need her to confess. maybe the excruciating pain of reopened wounds will get her to talk…#it doesn’t. she never says anything. and after a while they move on from torture to locking her up and starving her#maybe that’ll finally break her. perhaps she’s still whipped occasionally even afterwards but for the most part she’s just left alone-#in some dark cell and questioned occasionally. it lasts anywhere from weeks to months and yet she never gives out the one detail she knows#because Aiza’s safety depends on it and she knows Aiza’s punishment will be much worse than hers if she’s caught#but anyway. enough of the bloody horror show. instead think about what it must’ve been like for her parents#the town is alight with scandal following the disappearance of Lady Aiza. you know a bit about her since your daughter works for her#you don’t hear from your daughter for a while. eventually someone tells you that she’s been convicted of helping Lady Aiza run away#she’s been under interrogation since. no one’s seen her but rumour has it they’re torturing her. there’s little you can do as a poor family#you request an audience with Lord Jusamah. it takes a long time to to be granted but eventually you’re before him begging for your daughter#apparently she’s proven to be a useless waste of resources so she’s released to you. you barely recognise her. My ankle journey
I am sharing this with all you good people on the dash because I am so fucking mad it took so long for me to learn it and if I can spare one (1) person the agony it will be worth it.
So for like...oh, 8 or 9 months, I've been struggling with pain/inflammation/tendinitis in my left Achilles tendon. I don't know what caused it. It just started up (welcome to middle age, this shit happens). It wasn't severe enough to be debilitating, but it was annoying and limiting. It was also intermittent, in that some days it would be very painful and other days hardly at all. The kind of shoe I was wearing affected it a lot.
Now, I have bone spurs on both heels (it's just a thing that happens as you get older sometimes). I'm also aware that heel pain is usually the result of tight calf muscles that pull and irritate the tendon. I tried stretching that calf muscle. You know the stretch, this bitch right here:
Tumblr media
I did it all the time. I also iced the ankle after walking for awhile, hoping to avoid inflammation. Results were...unsatisfying.
I went to:
A chiropractor
A podiatrist
A physical therapist
A bodywork coach
They all gave me some variation on the "strengthen your calf muscle, stretch your calf muscle" advice. I continued doing this without results.
I was getting frustrated, and a little afraid that this was just my life now. Finally, I thought...maybe some targeted massage might help. I asked for rec on a local FB site and was pointed to a woman who specializes in therapeutic massage including cupping, etc.
I went to her a week ago.
She spent over half our first session working on my left lower leg. Within about 10 minutes of making my eyes water, she uttered the sentence I did not know I had been waiting to hear:
"Oh, it's your soleus."
Excuse me, what?
"It's your soleus that's the culprit. It's all tied up and stiff." She started digging into it and I felt literal sparks run up my leg as she released adhesions and got the muscle moving a little. When she finally put the leg down, it felt like it was on fire with all the blood rushing into it.
She said, "You'll need to stretch your soleus. It'll clear up, but it'll take a bit of time - tendons take ages to heal."
But I HAVE been stretching.
"No, you haven't. The usual straight-leg calf stretch only stretches the gastrocnemius, that's the big belly muscle in your calf. That's not your problem. That stretch doesn't stretch the soleus. Don't worry, I'll show you how to stretch it."
My mind is spinning.
So here are the muscles in question:
Tumblr media
The gastroc (as the pros call it) just attaches down the back but the soleus runs underneath it from the knee around the side to the heel. The lower part above the ankle is where it typically gets tight and forms adhesions.
To stretch it, you do the same calf thing where you put your foot back and press your heel to the ground, but you have to do it with your KNEE BENT:
Tumblr media
The bent knee keeps the gastroc from engaging. It's one of those selfish muscles (like traps) - if you give it an inch, it'll just take over and prevent other muscles from working or stretching. There are other ways to stretch the soleus but this is the easiest and you can literally do it anywhere. I've been doing it while standing and waiting for things (the elevator to come, the toast to toast). You just put the heel back and bend the knee. It's kind of like curtseying.
The minute I did this stretch, I could FEEL where it was pulling on my tendon. I knew that THIS had been the problem.
The massage therapist also told me to stop icing my heel. She said icing is for an acute injury, but a more chronic aggravation needs heat, to increase blood flow for healing. She recommended elevation with heat every day (I've been doing it in bed during "phone before bed" time).
I have been doing the soleus stretch at least half a dozen times a day for almost a week, and the ankle is at least 70% better. It is still a little tight and tender, but the improvement is significant. I think a few more weeks will have it feeling normal.
I am...blown away by this. This massage therapist was able to pinpoint an issue in only a few minutes that eluded all the other professionals I saw. I can't wait to go back to her and have her solve all my other problems, tbh.

realizing I missed my window to have a very important and soul bearing conversation with my boss
#now that she's moved to a shared office and I'm stationed in a shared office my opportunities to have serious conversations are limited#I knew I should've had this talk sooner when she still had her own office and we could have a face to face discussion#I've just been avoiding it because I really hoped these issues could be resolved if I addressed them in a softer manner#but my attempts are just not getting results so I'm at my last ditch effort to express my concerns and get some help#I didn't go through all that goddamn management training just to forego the concepts and never apply the teachings#I'm tired of tiptoeing around the subject because I'm worried my boss won't hear me out or understand#it's just not my style to do this workplace politeness bs#she's said multiple times that we can be honest with her and it won't hurt her feelings#and I'm going to do just that#because god I'm getting burnt out and frustrated#I feel like there's some sort of fundamental misunderstanding I'm having which is not being resolved as things are now#I can't keep asking the same questions different ways and hoping for a different result each time#I just need to directly address what I think the problem is and hope I can get some actual help or feedback#I think my boss will be willing to listen I just don't know what I'll do if this still gets me nowhere#gonna have to figure out when I'd even be able to hold this kind of conversation#I'd like to do it today if possible while I'm really pondering everything and feel like I've got my thoughts in order#but this damn shared office makes that so difficult cause I ain't sayin all this to the world#at least not the whole work world#I'm sure they see I'm struggling but it's still something that is like to keep sort of to myself#especially because I'm acutely aware that my ramblings are very close to that of a madman#but it's just how I think and feel about these matters#sigh#work is hard

joel found a lodge house…
Tumblr media
You don’t know what you did to make Joel Miller hate you so much.
He's never outright said it, but you know it’s there—in every sharp glance, every clipped word, every deliberate avoidance.
Besides, his silence is worse than anything he could say. A quiet condemnation that settles in your chest like stone.
You tell yourself it doesn’t matter, that you don’t care what he thinks, but the truth is harder to swallow.
You do care—more than you want to admit. His approval, his respect, hell, even a sliver of kindness from him feels like an impossible prize you’ll never win.
And you hate yourself for wanting it. For needing it.
It's not just the weight of his disdain that eats at you, it's the not knowing why. God, do you wish you could ask him why.
What did you do to make him look at you like you’re some necessary evil he has to tolerate. Why does he hold some unspoken grudge that's manifested itself into something you couldn't dream of ever comprehending.
But the thought of confronting Joel feels like standing on the edge of a cliff, staring down into a void that might swallow you whole.
So instead, you do what you've always done. You keep your distance, try to match his indifference with your own, and tell yourself it’s better this way.
Tumblr media
You were young when the outbreak hit, six years old.
You’re sure that’s part of it. That that’s how Joel sees you, as some bumbling, naive child who’s more of a hassle than anything else.
Another mouth to feed, another back to watch, baggage.
You've been with him for almost seven months now, traveling side by side when you may have well been miles apart. Trekking through abandoned cities, overgrown highways, and every godforsaken patch of wilderness in between.
In the beginning, you did everything you could to prove him wrong.
You pushed yourself past your limits, hunted, scavenged, fought, kept up. You did everything that needed to be done without hesitation.
All to show that you were more than what he made you out to be. It never seemed to matter much.
After you lost your parents in the early days of the outbreak, it was just you and your sister. She taught you everything you know, taught you how to survive.
It's because of her that you know how to shoot a rifle, how to skin a rabbit, how to start a fire with nothing but sticks and dried moss, how to snap bones and locate which vital arteries bleed out the quickest.
It's because of her that you've been able to hone some sick skill in the maiming of clickers.
A skill you never thought you'd need to use on her.
You were supposed to be safe in the QZ. You weren't supposed to be fifteen years old, aiming a gun at the one person you had left.
Your own flesh and blood wasn't supposed to be the very first in a long list of red tallies under your belt.
It’s been years and you’ve still never forgotten that day. December 19th, 2012, the date burned into your brain like someone took a branding iron to the tissue.
You can’t count the amount of times you’ve been ripped from your sleep drenched in a cold sweat with the tail end of a scream tearing at the skin of your throat.
The image of what was left of your sister, slumped on the ground lifeless as her blood painted the wall behind her flashing behind your closed eyelids. The sound of her last labored breath ringing in your ears louder than any shotgun blast.
You ran that same night, with the weight of her death on your shoulders.
Your entire world spinning out around you as you clawed through barbed wire fencing, not caring where you were going or what would happen to you—just needing to escape.
There was nothing left for you to do after that but survive. And that’s what you did, for years, scraping by in a world that had already chewed you up and spit you out a mangled mess.
You learned how to be ruthless because of it.
How to harden yourself against the loss, the pain, the brutality. But there were cracks, too. Cracks you hid well, buried deep beneath layers of stubbornness and distance.
The endless days blurred into each other. Empty houses, hollow streets. A life reduced to scavenging, hiding, and the occasional, fleeting moment of human connection that inevitably ended in loss.
And then you found yourself with Joel.
You hadn’t exactly found him, though. More like crashed into his orbit by accident.
A few desperate days spent scavenging through the ruins of a small town, a chance encounter that left you both wary and unwilling to turn your backs.
But, inexplicably, you somehow became part of his traveling routine.
He wasn’t like any of the others you’d met before. At first, you thought he might be different. A man who seemed broken, but different nonetheless.
As the days turned into weeks, and weeks into months, you began to see the truth. Joel Miller wasn’t concerned with you. He didn’t need you. And, more than that, he didn’t want you around.
You didn’t know what to do with that.
It’s a bitter kind of irony. You’ve survived all this time completely on your own, fought tooth and nail to stay alive, but with him, you might just crumble.
Tumblr media
Joel found a lodge house. It's a small, weathered place tucked away in the dense trees of the wood surrounding it.
He only deemed it suitable after an extensive perimeter check and a thorough sweep of the interior.
It's not much—just another run-down place in the middle of nowhere—but for the first time in what feels like forever, it’s a roof over your head for the night.
The walls are sturdy, though the windows are cracked and half of the floorboards creak like they're about to give out at any moment.
You explored the second floor alone, creeping through the desolate rooms and taking in all that was left behind.
Old family photographs covered in thick layers of dust, worn clothes riddled with holes still hung in the few closets you stumble across.
The oddest of all was an old jewelry box tucked away in a dresser draw, tarnished silver dull and muddy.
The sound of familiar footsteps comes from somewhere behind you. The door creaks open slowly.
Joel. Of course.
He clears his throat, the sound abrasive in the quiet of the house.
“Fire’s low,” he says, voice rough from its lack of use today.
You don’t turn around, not yet. You take the box in your gloved hand, running your fingers across the intricate design of the lid, touch trailing over winding vines and small roses.
“Okay,” you mutter, your voice coming out quieter than you intended. “I’ll grab some more wood later.”
Another beat of silence. Then, “It’s gettin’ cold out, I’ll go.”
Your fingers pause their ministrations, moving to flip the lid open. Empty.
“Suit yourself,” you reply after a moment, your tone just as neutral as his.
Joel doesn’t leave right away. You hear the floorboards groan beneath his weight, his presence lingering in the doorway.
You wonder what he’s waiting for, or if he’s waiting at all.
Finally, he speaks. “Don’t touch anything.”
With that he turns and leaves the room, you wait until you can’t hear his footsteps trailing down the stairs anymore to let out the scoff festering in your chest.
You snap the jewelry lid shut with a little more force than necessary. “Asshole.”
Tumblr media
Joel's been gone for a while now. Longer than it takes to chop a few logs for firewood.
You came down from the upstairs a few minutes after hearing the tell-tale sound of the heavy door opening and closing. The main room is quiet, save for the soft crackle of the dwindling fire.
You're perched on an old armchair near the entrance, peering out the dirty window that has the best view of the treeline as you nervously pick the skin around your nails.
You tell yourself not to worry. He’s probably fine, he’s been doing this a lot longer than you. And if Joel is anything, it’s annoyingly competent.
Still, a nagging doubt itches at the back of your mind. It's been at least half an hour, maybe more.
You’re just about to grab your own pack and go looking for him when the front door creaks open.
Joel stumbles inside, the frigid evening air rushing in behind him before he slams the door shut. At first glance, he looks fine—no more haggard than usual.
But then you notice the way he favors his left side, the way his free hand is pressed against his ribs, blood seeping through his fingers and staining his torn undershirt.
You’re on your feet in an instant.
“Fuck,” you say, voice sharper than you expected. “What the hell happened?”
“Raiders.” Is the only explanation you get as he tries to brush past you like it’s nothing. The stiff way he moves and the tightens of his jaw betray him. “S’just a scratch.”
“Bullshit,” you snap, stepping in front of him and blocking his path to the fire. “Sit. Now.”
He gives you a look, one of those deep, withering glares you’ve seen him use to intimidate countless others into submission. But you stand your ground, chin raised and jaw set–defiant.
His stubbornness finally meeting its match in your own.
Finally, with a low growl of frustration, he drops onto the couch. “Happy now?”
"Not until you let me take care of that." You motion toward his side, where the blood is still spreading.
“I’m fine,” he mutters, lolling his head back to rest more heavily on the couch.
“Sure you are,” you snap, crossing the room to rifle through your bag. “And I’m the fucking Queen of England.”
"Said I’m fine," he bites through gritted teeth, but you’re already moving, heading back to him with the first aid kit from your pack.
"You want to bleed out on this ugly-ass couch? Be my guest," you shoot back, dropping to your knees in front of him. "Otherwise, shut up and let me help."
Joel surprisingly doesn’t argue any further, just sighs heavily and reluctantly sinks further into the couch cushions.
You push the front of his jacket open to slide it off his shoulders as gently as you can, peeling back the layer of his flannel next.
The smell of blood hits you immediately.
The gash is about five inches long, trailing the span of his ribcage. It’s deep—but not fatal—just an angry red and oozing blood.
Definitely not the simple 'scratch' he made it out to be.
Your stomach churns at the sight, but you push it down. No time for that.
“Jesus, Joel,” you mutter under your breath, reaching for the alcohol in your kit. “You really know how to underplay a situation, huh?”
He doesn’t respond, just watches you with those dark, calculating eyes of his. Always watching, always assessing.
It’s unnerving, but you focus on the task at hand, grabbing a clean cloth and soaking it with alcohol.
“This is gonna hurt,” you warn, though there’s a part of you that doesn’t mind the idea of causing him a little discomfort.
A petty, vindictive part that still stings from all the scorn he’s thrown your way.
“Just get it over with,” Joel grits out, his voice low and gravelly.
You don’t give him any more warnings as you wipe the soaked cloth over the wound. He flinches, a harsh curse slipping through clenched teeth, but he doesn’t pull away.
You work as quickly as you can, wiping away the blood and dirt with steady hands, your movements as gentle as possible given the situation.
You let out an annoyed huff when the torn fabric of his shirt gets in the way of your hands for a second time.
You lean back on your heels, glancing up at Joel. “You need to take your shirt off.”
Joel raises a brow at you, his lips pressing into a thin line. “That really necessary?”
“Yes, it’s necessary, Joel,” you huff, already losing patience. “Unless you want me to sit here and cut around every thread of this ratty thing while you bleed out, then by all means—”
He sighs heavily, cutting you off as he shifts forward and grabs the hem of his shirt. He tugs at the fabric, grunting in pain each time it strains his ribs.
You roll your eyes at how slow he’s moving, and your patience—already worn thin by the day's events—snaps.
“Jesus Christ, let me help,” you huff, reaching forward and grabbing the fabric.
Joel jerks back slightly, his hand shooting up to stop yours mid-motion. “I got it,” he growls, a sharp edge in his voice.
You glare at him, your hand still caught in his grip. His palm is calloused, his hold firm enough to make your pulse jump unexpectedly.
For a moment, the two of you just sit there, locked in a silent standoff.
Then he releases your hand and pulls the shirt over his head himself, wincing as the movement pulls at his side.
You wait with your arms crossed, trying to ignore the awkward flutter of nerves in your stomach as the fabric peels away to reveal his chest.
Joel’s broad, solid frame isn’t new to you. You’ve seen him shirtless before—brief glimpses when bathing in rivers or changing in run down houses between stops.
But this time feels different, more intimate somehow.
You’re staring, and you know it.
The firelight cast shadows over his skin, illuminating old scars, faint lines of muscle, the barely there jut of his stomach over the hem of his jeans.
You had been getting more game kills recently, two hunters are always better than one.
Joel clears his throat, dragging your focus back to the present. “You gonna gawk all night, or can we move this along?”
You snap out of it, scowling to cover your embarrassment. “Yeah, yeah. Don’t get your panties in a twist.”
You finish cleaning the gash and grab the small needle and thread lying next to you.
“This’ll hurt worse than the alcohol,” you say, threading the needle easily.
Joel snorts, a rare sound. “Figures.”
The needle pierces his skin, and this time, you catch the smallest hitch in his breath. He doesn’t make a sound, but his jaw tightens, the veins in his neck standing out like cords.
His hands grip the edge of the couch hard enough that his knuckles turn white with it, but he doesn’t tell you to stop or slow down.
He’s too damn proud for that.
You shift closer, your knee brushing against his leg as you position yourself to work from a better angle. You feel his eyes on you, that intense, scrutinizing stare that makes your skin prickle.
“You’ve done this before,” Joel says after a moment, his tone less sharp than before. It’s not quite a question, more of an observation.
You shrug, keeping your hands steady. “Of course I have.”
“Who taught you?”
The question catches you off guard, Joel’s never shown much interest in what your life was before you met him. You glance up briefly, catching his gaze. There’s no malice there, no judgment—just curiosity.
You swallow hard, dragging your eyes back to stitches, half way done now. “My sister.”
You don’t elaborate and Joel doesn’t push.
Maybe it’s the sudden tightness in your tone or the look you know must be clouding your face that keeps him quiet.
You finish off the stitching, tearing the thin strand of thread with your hands before you’re leaning away again.
“Good as new,” you say, dabbing some more alcohol on your own hands to disinfect. “Try not to tear these open anytime soon.”
Joel leans back, strong arms spread across the back of the couch, his face unreadable as he peers down at the fresh stitching on his side.
“Could’ve done it myself,” he mutters, but the edge in his voice is gone, replaced with something softer, almost resigned.
You roll your eyes with a scoff, not even trying to hide your irritation as you rise from the floor. “Sure you could’ve, right before you passed out. You’re welcome by the way.”
You gather your supplies and turn to head back to your bag, but Joel’s voice stops you in your tracks.
“You’re always like this, y’know,” he says, and the words carry that same gravelly drawl, but there’s something new there—something heavier.
You pause, your hands tightening around the kit in your grasp. “Like what?”
“Pushy. Stubborn,” he replies, his tone cutting, though it lacks the usual venom. “Like you’ve got somethin’ to prove all the damn time.”
You whip around, your patience officially gone. “You think I’m stubborn?” you shoot back, your voice rising. “Coming from the guy who would rather bleed out on a fucking couch than admit he needs help?”
Joel’s jaw tightens, and his hands flex against the couch cushions, but you don’t stop. Not now. Not after months of this.
“I’ve been busting my ass since day one to prove that I’m not dead weight to you. I’ve fought for us, for you. And for what? Just to get more of your bullshit attitude?”
“You don’t know what the hell you’re talkin’ about,” Joel snaps, pushing himself upright despite the obvious strain it puts on his freshly stitched wound. “You don’t know a goddamn thing about me.”
“Because you won’t let me!” you fire back, stepping closer, your voice rising. “All you do is look at me like I’m some burden you can’t wait to get rid of.”
Joel’s glare sharpens, his lips parting as if to respond, but you cut him off.
You really can’t stop yourself now that you started, all the anger and frustration reaching a fever pitch hot enough to burst the tight lid you’ve kept on your emotions.
“If I’m such a hassle, why didn’t you just leave me back there, huh? Why didn’t you just walk away like I know you wanted to?”
Joel’s breathing is heavier now,  his broad chest rising and falling as his dark eyes bore into yours.
For a moment, he doesn’t say anything. Then, he stands, and the sheer size of him forces you to tilt your chin up slightly to keep your glare fixed on his face.
“You think I wanted this, kid?” he growls, his voice low and strained, like he’s barely holding himself together. “You think I wanted to be responsible for someone else? To have someone else’s fuckin’ life on me?”
“Don’t call me kid,” you spit, shoving a finger into his chest, ignoring the way his jaw ticks at the contact. “I’m not a fucking kid.”
He scoffs, casting his eyes to the ceiling disbelievingly. “Could’ve fooled me.”
“Fuck you, Joel,” you growl, fists clenching at your side. “If you hate me that much, why the hell are you still here? Why didn’t you tell me to fuck off the second you met me?”
“Because I couldn’t!” Joel snaps, booming voice filling the small space.
The confession slips out like it pains him. His fists clench at his sides, and for a moment, he looks like he might break something.
You’ve never been scared of Joel, even though you’ve seen first hand just how scary he can be.
Now, as he looms in front of you, eyes blazing and jaw working furiously beneath his skin, it’s the closest to scared you’ve felt.
“I’ve seen you out there,” he continues, tone low and dark. “You’ve got a fuckin’ death wish. You’re too damn stubborn to just stop, and I’m not gonna let you go so you can run off and get yourself fuckin’ killed.”
Your heart pounds in your chest, his words hitting far too close to home.
“I’m just trying to survive, Joel,” you snap, your voice shaking. “That’s what we do, isn’t it? Survive.”
“Survive,” Joel repeats bitterly, his gaze burning into yours. “That what you call it? Throwin’ yourself into every goddamn fight, gettin’ stabbed and shot right fuckin’ in front of me and expecting me to brush that shit off?”
You let out a humorless laugh, nodding your head exasperatedly. “Yes, yes I do expect you to just brush it off, because that’s what you always do.”
“Well I can’t,” he grates out, taking a step closer. “I can’t ‘cause despite whatever it is that you may think about me, I don’t hate you. I care about you too damn much and that's my goddamn problem.”
That shuts you up, your mouth snapping closed with a sharp click of your teeth as you stare at him, shocked.
Joel holds your gaze, lips pressed into a thin line. “That what you wanted to hear?”
It’s in that moment that the fire finally fizzles out, the dull hiss of it the only sound left in the room.
You’re quiet for a beat, stunned into silence. The heat of his anger, his frustration, it radiates off him, and you realize suddenly that this isn’t just about you.
It never was.
“Then show me,” you challenge softly, your heart pounding in your chest. “Show me that you don’t hate me.”
Joel’s eyes darken, his head cocking to the side as he searches your face for a sign. You don’t say anything, you only square your shoulders and raise your chin, your eyes just as hard as his own.
“I want you to prove it.”
The tension snaps like a rubber band stretched too far.
You shouldn’t—this shouldn’t—happen. Not like this. Not after everything that’s been said.
But when Joel’s lips crash against yours, hot and desperate and urgent, it makes everything blur into nothing.
It’s not gentle, not soft—this is anger and longing and frustration all wrapped into one. It’s messy, frantic, like a fight that’s been brewing for too long.
He grips your arm, pulling you closer, almost too roughly, but it feels like it’s everything you’ve both been avoiding.
His other hand moves to cup the back of your neck, grounding you as his lips press harder against yours, like he’s trying to pour everything he can’t say into this single moment.
You respond just as fiercely, nails digging into the skin of his shoulders as you kiss him back with all the pent-up emotion that’s been simmering beneath the surface.
The coarse hair of his beard scrapes against the skin of your chin deliciously, the scent of blood and firewood filling your senses as his arm wraps around your waist, dragging you impossibly closer.
Close enough that you can feel the wild beat of his heart booming against your chest.
You pull away for a second, breathless, both of you looking at each other, your eyes wide and pupils blown.
“Goddamn it,” Joel mutters, his voice thick with frustration and something else you can’t place. He presses his forehead to yours, the deep brown of his eyes dark than before. “What the hell are we doing?”
You don’t have an answer. You’re not sure if you even want one.
You reach for him again, arms looping around his neck to drag his mouth back to yours.
This kiss is nothing like the first, it isn’t a clash of frustration–it’s filthier, rawer. A near feral thing, all teeth and tongue, a surge of hunger and need that borders on violence.
Joel groans into your mouth, a low, guttural sound that sends a shiver racing down your spine. His teeth catch your bottom lip, pulling just hard enough to make you gasp.
He takes advantage of the sound, his tongue sweeping into your mouth to slide against yours with wet, messy desperation, like he’s trying to claim every inch of you.
The taste of him—salt and iron and something distinctly Joel—makes your head spin.
Your fingers knot into the chocolaty curls at the nape of his neck, surprisingly soft to the touch. His own hands roam the soft curves of your body, rough and insistent, like he can’t decide where he wants to touch you most.
“Joel—” His name spills from your lips like a plea, and he answers with a deep, guttural noise that sends heat pooling low in your belly. His tongue follows the path of his teeth, soothing the bites with lazy, deliberate strokes that make your knees weak.
You’re moving before you even realize it. Joel dragging you across the room and down onto the couch with him, using the strength he’s built up after all these years to manhandle you until your thighs are spread wide on either side of his lap.
“Joel,” you gasp again, rearing back enough to break the kiss. “Your stitches–”
He cuts you off with a sharp nip to the sensitive spot behind your ear, tearing a high whine from your throat. “Can hardly feel ‘em.”
You make a displeased sound, but it’s undermined by the way you tilt your head to give his wandering lips more room. His hands find a home on your hips, one slipping beneath your shirt to press against the soft skin of your stomach.
His fingers splay wide across your skin, his palm callused and rough. His pinky just barely brushes the underside of your breast, and you’re suddenly rearing back.
“Wait,” you say, your voice barely a whisper.
Joel’s hands immediately loosen their grip on your hips, his brows knitting together in concern. “You okay?”
You nod quickly, your heart pounding in your chest. “I just...I need to tell you something.”
His jaw tightens slightly, but he stays quiet, waiting for you to speak.
You take a beat, chewing at the skin of your bottom lip nervously.
“I’ve never...” You pause, swallowing hard as your cheeks heat up. “I’ve never done this before. I mean, I’ve never been with anyone like this.”
Joel pulls back slightly, his expression unreadable as he processes your words. For a moment, you think he might pull away completely, but then he exhales a long, slow breath.
“Christ,” he mutters, scrubbing a hand down his face. “You’re tellin’ me this now?”
“I didn’t exactly plan for this to happen,” you snap back, crossing your arms over your chest defensively. “It’s not like I had the luxury of a high school sweetheart to pop my cherry out here.”
Joel’s gaze softens at your tone, and he reaches out to cup your cheek, his thumb brushing against your skin. “Hey, hey, I didn’t mean it like that.”
You glance away, suddenly feeling self-conscious under the weight of his stare. “I just...I wanted you to know. But I want this, Joel. I want you.”
His thumb stills against your cheek, and he swallows hard, his adam’s apple bobbing as he considers your words.
“I don’t...” He pauses, the most hesitant you’ve ever heard him. “I don’t want to hurt you.”
It’s the most vulnerable he’s been around you, round eyes shining with something so raw and so earnest it makes your heart ache in your chest.
“You won’t,” you insist, your voice steady despite the nerves fluttering in your stomach. “I trust you.”
Joel’s jaw clenches, and for a moment, he looks like he’s going to argue. But then he nods, his shoulders relaxing as he cups the back of your neck, pulling you closer until your foreheads touch again.
“At least let me do this right,” he murmurs, his voice so soft you almost don’t hear it. “Not here. Not on some goddamn couch.”
You blink up at him, surprised by the tenderness in his tone. “What?”
“Upstairs,” he says, his thumb tracing lazy circles against the side of your neck. “There’s a bed up there. It ain’t much, but it’s better than this.”
You can’t do anything but nod, your pulse racing beneath your skin fast enough to combat the cold night air seeping through the walls.
“Okay,” you say softly, voice barely above a whisper. “Upstairs.”
Joel stands, gently pulling you to feet and taking your hand in his. He leads you upstairs, each step feeling heavier with anticipation. The small bedroom is dimly lit, the faint glow of moonlight filtering through a broken blind.
The bed isn’t much—an old mattress on a worn frame, covered with a patched-up blanket—but it doesn’t matter.
Joel shuts the door behind you, the sound of the latch clicking into place sending a shiver down your spine.
“Last chance,” he says, his voice a low rumble. “You say the word, and we stop. No questions asked.”
Your throat tightens at the sincerity in his tone, the way he’s giving you an out even though you can see the strain in every line of his body, the way his hands flex at his sides like he wants nothing more than to reach out and touch you.
But you don’t hesitate.
You step closer, placing your hands on his bare chest. You bite back a smile at the goosebumps that break out all along his skin at your touch.
“Jesus, Miller,” you mumble teasingly, nails lightly scratching through the salt and pepper hair scattered along his chest. “How long are you gonna drag this out before you get it through your thick skull that I want to fuck you?”
"Christ." Joel huffs, shaking his head as the corners of his lips turn up in a small grin. “Like I fuckin’ said,” he starts, big hands kneading the meat of your hips. “Pushy.”
Joel walks you backward until the backs of your knees hit the edge of the bed, and you fall onto it with a soft gasp.
He follows you immediately, crawling over you, his body covering yours, his weight a comforting pressure. “I’ll take care of you,” he murmurs, his lips brushing yours. “I’ll make it good for you, I swear.”
His fingers are everywhere, unbuttoning your shirt with a practiced ease that has your pulse racing. His lips follow the path of his hands, each touch a branding mark, each kiss leaving you wanting more.
“Pretty girl,” he mutters softly, pressing a kiss right between the valley of your breasts.
You feel his cock stirring against your stomach, and it makes the ache between your legs flare to life, the weight of it, the hardness of it, driving you crazy with need.
You want him so badly you can barely think straight, but when his lips graze over your collarbone, you can’t stop the quiet whine that escapes your throat.
Joel growls in response, a sound that resonates deep in his chest, and you know then that he’s as far gone as you are. His hands slide down to the waistband of your pants, tugging them down your legs with urgency.
As your skin is exposed to the cool air, you can feel the heat of his gaze on you, like he’s memorizing every inch of you.
“You’re fuckin' perfect,” he mutters, his voice thick with desire.
Joel's hands find your thighs, parting them with a deliberate slowness that makes your breath catch in your throat. He positions himself between your legs, his body weight pressing you into the mattress, his chest rising and falling with the same frantic rhythm as yours.
The anticipation is almost unbearable as his fingers trace the line of your panties, the fabric damp with want.
“Jesus, she’s drippin’ for me already,” he mutters, voice rough, as he slides the material to the side, his thumb brushing over the sensitive swell of your clit.
Your body jerks at the contact, a desperate sound escaping your lips, but Joel doesn’t relent.
“You touch yourself down here, baby?” he asks, working tortuously slow circles over your clit.
"Please," you beg, your hands grasping at the sheets, pulling at them as if they can anchor you to the moment.
He looks up at you, his gaze dark and filled with an intensity that makes your stomach tighten. “Asked you a question, honey.”
You whine, high and loud in your throat as your thighs clench desperately around his wrist. “Yes, I touch myself.”
Joel’s lips curl into a satisfied grin, sliding his thick index finger through the messy wetness to slip inside your clenching hole, making you gasp. Your hands grasp at the sheets, pulling at them as if they can anchor you to the moment.
“Good girl,” he breathes, eyes darkening at the broken moan that bursts from your lips. “When’s the last time you touched yourself?”
Your brain feels hazy as you search for the answer, pleasure clouding your mind slow and sweet as molasses. “A–a few nights ago.”
Joel hums idly, slipping a second finger alongside the first. The stretch has you whining, his fingers a lot more to take than your own.
Your hands come up to claw at his shoulders, relishing in the way his broad muscle ripples and shifts beneath your greedy palms.
“Joel,” you whine, hips canting down against his hand impatiently.
He just shushes you softly, free hand brushing soothing circles along the skin of your inner thigh. “I know, honey,” he mutters, the pace fingers speeding up. “But I gotta get her nice and ready if you wanna take my cock.”
The gush of your pussy around his fingers is loud in the stillness of the room, a filthy wet noise that burns your ears each time he plunges them into your aching hole.
“I am ready.” Your breath hitches as your body begins to tremble beneath him. “Please, Joel—fuck—please, I need—”
“Need what?” His voice is thick with dark amusement, but there's a hunger in his eyes that has your stomach twisting. “Tell me, baby. What do you need?”
“I need you,” you rasp, your nails digging little crescent moons into his skin, your body pleading for release. “I need you inside me.”
Your hands grab at his hair, pulling him back up to meet your lips in a feverish kiss.
The pressure of his body on yours, the way his hard cock grinds against your trembling thigh, drives you to the brink of madness.
Your hands trail down his chest, past the waistband of his jeans, finally reaching the bulge straining against the fabric.
Joel groans when you rub him through his pants, feeling his cock twitch in response. He pulls back, breathing heavily, his lips curling into a smirk.
“Yeah?” he asks, his voice thick with lust. “You want my cock in this pretty pussy? Want me to show you how good it feels to be fucked?”
“God, yes,” you answer, desperation lacing your tone as your hand moves to unbuckle his jeans. “Want it so bad.”
He lets you push his pants down just enough to free his cock, and you gasp, your eyes drawn to the way his length stands, thick and hard, just waiting for you. The tip flushed an angry red, drooling pre-come onto the scratchy sheets.
Joel pulls his fingers from you, using his hands spreading your legs wider, positioning himself between them with such careful precision that you can barely stand it.
The head of his cock drags through the mess between your legs, slipping all the way down till it catches on your soaked entrance.
Joel pauses, looking down at you, waiting for your signal, but the only answer you give is a pleading whimper, your hands pulling at his shoulders, urging him to move.
His mouth captures yours once again as he slowly slides into you, the stretch of his cock filling you steadily, making you gasp into his mouth.
The slow burn of him carving a place for himself inside of you is almost too much, your body trembling as you adjust to the feeling of him.
“Fuck, baby,” Joel mutters against your lips. “You’re so tight, so fuckin’ perfect for me.”
As he sinks deeper into you, his thick cock finally buried to the hilt inside of you, the feeling is overwhelming. You gasp, nails digging into his back as the pain slowly shifts into pleasure.
Joel groans into your mouth, his hands moving to your hips, guiding you as he rocks gently against you.
The rhythm is slow at first, deliberate, as if he's savoring every inch of you. Your body quivers beneath him, every inch of your skin tingling with sensation. You clutch at him, your legs tightening around his waist, needing more, wanting more.
"That's it," he murmurs, his voice thick with desire. "Take it, baby."
You screw your eyes shut tightly, trying to steady yourself as he thrusts deeper, harder. The angle shifts just enough to make your breath catch in your throat.
Every stroke feels like it’s hitting the deepest part of you, sparking heat in places you never knew could burn so hot.
"Fuck," you gasp, the sensation too overwhelming, too much in the best way. "Joel... please..."
"Please what, sweetheart?" He pulls back slightly, teasing you with a slow roll of his hips before driving back in with a grunt.
Your nails dig into his shoulders, urging him to move faster, harder. "Don’t stop," you breathe, your voice trembling. "I need you to fuck me, Joel. Faster. Harder. Please."
The sound of skin slapping against skin fills the room as Joel finally picks up the pace, each thrust harder and deeper than the last.
Your back arches off the bed, chest pressing flush to his as your body coils tighter and tighter, already so close to the edge.
Joel reaches up to take your wrist in his, dragging your hand down to press flat against your lower stomach.
“Feel that?” he asks breathlessly, the speed of his hips knocking the dingy bed frame into the wall with every thrust. “You feel how deep I am?”
His own hand blankets yours, pushing down so you can feel the way his cock punches up against your palm on the next thrust.
Your pussy clenches desperately around him at the feeling, your slick lips dropping open on a loud moan.
You can barely hold on. The heat in your stomach tightens, coiling painfully as your free hand scrambles to find purchase on his skin. "I can't—I'm gonna—"
He grits his teeth, his jaw clenched as he drives deeper, pushing you closer and closer to the edge. "Come for me, baby," he growls, his voice dark and commanding. "Let me feel it."
With a strangled cry, you finally release, your body clenching around him, every nerve igniting in a white-hot explosion of pleasure.
You’re lost in it, your world spinning, your senses overwhelmed by the sensation of Joel’s body pounding into yours, the way his cock brushes against that sweet spot behind your clit enough to make sparks go off behind your eyelids.
Joel pulls out of your velvety warmth, hand coming up to fist his dripping length until he’s bowing over you tightly and coming with a deep groan of your name.
His release paints your stomach with milky strands of white, rope after rope of warm come claiming you in a way no one has before.
He finally collapses against you with one last shuddering breath, both of you breathing heavily, your chests rising and falling together in the quiet aftermath.
For a few moments, neither of you speaks, the only sounds are the soft creak of the bed and the quiet hum of your racing hearts.
Joel rests his head against your shoulder, his breath warm against your skin, and you can feel the tension begin to slip away, the weight of everything that’s happened between you both settling into something new—something different, but still there.
Your hand slips down the sweaty expanse of your stomach, your fingers swiping through the sticky mess of his release curiously.
“Christ, quit that,” Joel groans, tearing his eyes away from the sight to press his forehead against your shoulder.
“Why?” you hum, brow raised in amusement as you drop your hand back to the mattress. “Can you even get it up again?”
Joel pinches your side hard enough to make you squeal, your body flinching away from him as a surprised laugh bubbles from your chest.
“Watch it,” he warns, though there’s no bite to his tone. You only laugh in response.
The two of you settle into a comfortable silence, wrapped in each other as crickets chirp from outside the window.
Then Joel clears his throat, fingers idly tracing different shapes on the skin of your hip as he gathers the courage to speak.
A circle, a square, a diamond, a circle, a heart, a heart, a heart.
“I’m…” he starts, trailing off softly. “I’m sorry. I’ve been a real fuckin’ prick, and you didn’t deserve it. You never did.”
You turn your own gaze to his chest, hand coming up so you can trail your fingers along the jagged scar decorating his shoulder. Your touch featherlight over the rough patch of skin.
All the anger seeps from your body, a heavy weight gone until you feel so light you could float off the mattress and into the cold night air.
“It’s okay,” you whisper softly, so soft you think it gets lost in the quiet darkness of the room. “I understand now.”
And for the first time in what feels like forever, you both just lay there, tangled in each other, not worrying about the world outside, about the chaos that waits.
Just you, him, and the soft glow of moonlight.

here and now , choi seungcheol x f!reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
SYPNOSIS: after seungcheol pushes you to your limit during a party, the tension finally snaps once you make it to his car.
WARNINGS: smut, unprotected sex (dont do this !!), public sex (parking lot), car sex, jealousy
requests open, do send some in!!
Tumblr media
seungcheol was being such a bitch. it was like he was purposely trying to make you jealous, trying to rile you up. why? all because you had a five minute conversation with an old friend from highschool.
and god, was it working.
he had the sleeves of his white button-up rolled to his elbows, and he leaned against the counter as he talked to the woman who was getting too close for your liking. the house party you two had been invited to was hosted by both your friends, but there were so many people there, and you couldn’t seem to focus on anything but him.
every time the woman laughed — too loudly, too flirtatiously — your stomach twisted. you watched as she leaned in, her hand lightly brushing against his arm, and seungcheol? he didn’t pull away. he acted like he didn’t even seem to notice the line she was crossing.
he was doing this on purpose. he knew you hated this, the way people threw themselves at him like he was some kind of untouchable god. but right now, it felt like he was testing you, pushing you to the edge to see how much you could take before you snapped.
he had to know what he was doing. he wasn’t oblivious to the tension in the air, to the way your gaze never strayed from him for too long.
you knew he wouldn’t go anything as far as hurting you — he wasn’t like that. but he always founds ways to make your chest tighten, to make you burn with jealousy.
finally, the woman stepped away, her lips curling into a smile as she walked off, leaving you and seungcheol alone, but not really. he was still leaning casually against the counter, and his eyes flicked to you, noticing the way your jaw clenched, how your body had stiffened with anger.
you walked over to him, setting your glass of champagne down on the marble counter before grabbing his arm firmly. “we’re going home.”
“why? i thought you said you wanted to stay out later tonight before we left the house.” his voice was teasing, the smirk practically oozing from behind you as you pulled him toward the door.
you didn’t say anything as you led him outside, your grip still firm on his arm, ignoring the way he was looking at you with that infuriating, amused expression. the cool night air hit your skin as you stepped onto the sidewalk, the distant sound of the party muffled behind you.
seungcheol finally spoke, his voice low but still laced with amusement. “so, you’re mad?”
you spun around to face him, the words bursting out before you could stop them. “you’re such an asshole.”
his smirk deepened, and he took a step closer, closing the space between you two. “am i? i was just talking to her.”
“bullshit,” you snapped, stepping back as your heart pounded. “you were flirting with her.”
“and what if i was?” he asked quietly, his tone suddenly serious, the teasing edge replaced by something more dangerous.
your breath hitched in your throat, caught between frustration and something else you couldn’t name.
you needed him so bad.
both of you stood there for a moment, the tension between you thickening. before seungcheol could say anything else, you gripped his wrist, pulling him toward his car.
he immediately unlocked the car as if he knew what was coming next. (he did).
“backseat,” you said, letting go of his wrist. your voice was filled with need. “please.”
seungcheol slid into the backseat smoothly, his eyes never leaving you. you followed him, the door clicking shut behind you as you positioned yourself in his lap. the air was thick, charged, but neither of you moved yet, the anticipation hanging between you like a heavy weight.
you tried to stay calm, to hold on to whatever control you had left, but it was slipping away with every passing second. finally, you couldn’t take it anymore. without thinking, you leaned in and kissed him, your lips meeting his with an urgency that surprised you both.
“wondered how long it would take” he pulled back, his voice low, teasing, but with an edge that sent a shiver through you.
all you could do was scoff, but it was light-hearted. “of course you did.” you responded, your fingers twitching, wanting him, needing him.
you couldn't help but lean in again, your breath warm against his skin. with a slight tilt of your head, you brushed your lips against his jaw, lingering there for a moment. your fingers tightened on the fabric of his shirt, pulling him closer as you slowly kissed your way down to his neck. the familiar scent of his cologne mixed with the heat of the moment made your senses reel.
seungcheol let out a quiet breath, his hands resting gently on your waist, pulling you even closer as you paused at his neck. the warmth of his skin under your lips made your heart race, and you felt the tension between you both thicken, every second stretching, making the moment feel impossibly intimate.
slowly, your hips began to move back and forth, the motion steady and deliberate. your dress crept up your thighs as you shifted and seungcheol took advantage if that to place his hands there.
a low groan escaped from his lips, right by your ear, and it sent a rush of satisfaction through you, boosing your ego.
“please, baby,” he breathed out, his voice barely above a whisper.
the heat that pooled in the bottom of your stomach intensified, making it hard to focus. you pulled back just enough to undo his belt, your fingers trembling slightly as you slid his pants down.
his cock hit against his abdomen, and your mouth drooled at the sight. “fuck, cheol.” you whispered out, positioning yourself over him after sliding your panties down.
you were already wet enough to not need any prep — it was evident with the way you were dripping all over his lap.
you slowly slid yourself down onto him, nails clawing at his shoulders as you took time to adjust. he was so big, you don’t think you’d ever be able to get used to it properly.
“oh my god,” he groaned out, hands going out to rest on your hips again as you began to move. “thats it. just like that.”
thank god the parking lot you were in was one, around the corner from the house the party was thrown at, and two, empty, because you don’t think you could bear the embarrassment of someone catching you.
“was— was doing fine before you rolled them damn sleeves up.” you whimpered out, your hips moving at a pace you didn’t even know you could reach until now.
“yeah? i bet you were,” he hissed into your ear, placing wet kisses along your collarbones as one of his hands left your waist to rub tight circles onto your clit.
you let out a strangled moan, your climax building rapidly. your thighs burned and you dropped your head on seungcheol’s shoulder. neither of you slowed your actions, desperate for release.
“im so close.” he whined. “come with me, please, please, please.”
that’s what sent you toppling over the edge, your eyes rolling back in your head as your movements fell sloppy. “fuck!” you cried out.
a second later, you felt seungcheol’s hips stutter and his head fell back against the leather seats with a gasp escaping his mouth. he spilled ropes of his warm cum inside you, mixing with your own release.
you both stayed in the same position for a few minutes, catching your breath before seungcheol placed a soft kiss to your nose.
“maybe i should make you jealous more often.”

summery: your parents have treated you like a show piece which Bucky hated. but what crossed the limit was when your parents hold you up for an auction without telling you.
pairing: dbf!bucky barnes x sub!reader
warnings: angst, fluff, SMUT, some plot but mostly smut, auctioning off a person, loss of virginity, panic attack mention, isolation mentioned, age gap (bucky is in his late 30s and reader is late 20s), use of nicknames (princess and baby), dom!bucky but no BDSM (because i don't know how to write it)
A/N: i love me some dad's best friend and especially Bucky. and seeing him in suit in thunderbolts is sending shivers down my spine.
Tumblr media
James Buchanan Barnes was a bad man.
At least that's what he thought every time he saw you.
You were all he could think about every time your father was present in the room. Mostly because your father won't stop talking about you.
Your father had a tendency to show you off for his benefit and it irked Bucky greatly. You weren't something to be put in a glass jar but your father did just that. Your mom was no less. She too supported her husband on every decision he made about you and your life.
Bucky had seen you become trapped in your room because everything got too overwhelming. You had turned from a shy kid to a wallflower. That made Bucky overly protective of you. Every time your parents paraded you and your achievements around, Bucky would always cling on to you, trying to comfort you from a distance.
It was just another big party in the y/l/n household. You were forced to dress in white satin gown and were adorned with pearls. They had made you look like a virgin doll. They had their reasons for that, of course, but they hadn't told you anything about it. It's not like this was the first time you were being pushed into the unknown.
The room started to fill up and you started to notice that the room was filled with male guests. Occasional female guests but they all looked like escorts.
You shuddered with a bad feeling and slowly stepped in the shadows. A small yelp left your lips as you crashed into someone. Before you could scramble up and leave, you felt a metal hand steady your very open back.
“Bucky?”
“Hey, princess. You hiding again?” He chuckled at your jumpiness when someone walked too close. He pulled you closer. This was wrong. So wrong but you felt so right in his arms.
“Something doesn't feel right about tonight. I'm way too dressed up for this.” You always felt comfortable in Bucky’s arms but you never said anything. Why? Because you weren't allowed to think or say anything on your own.
Bucky was looking gorgeous in his black tux. His hair was slicked back and he smelled devine. His eyes held the same softness you had become used to over the few years. But you shouldn't think about this. It was wrong. He was your father’s best friend. You shouldn't let your mind take his kindness as something more.
“You look beautiful, princess.”
That nickname. He gave that to you when you met him the first day. You were dressed in your pink pjs and your hair was tied in a loose braid. You were about to go to bed but went down to the kitchen to get some water.
He was nursing a drink when you came across him. He figured you were the daughter and you knew he was the new friend your father had made. He got up from his seat and walked closer to you to introduce himself. He looked so much larger than you. To him you looked adorable and innocent, but locked up in a house. Since that day, he had been calling you ‘princess’ because your cheeks always tinted pink when he did.
“You look beautiful too, Bucky.” You whispered loud enough for him to hear you.
“Why do you look more panicked than usual, princess? Did someone say something to you?” He brought his flesh hand and stroked your back gently to calm you.
“No. That's the thing. Nobody is telling me anything. I don't know what today is about. And there are so many male guests. It's making me uncomfortable.”
“Wait, so you have absolutely no idea how today’s fundraiser is going to go?” Bucky’s eyebrows scrunched in concern. Something was definitely not right now.
You shook your head and looked at Bucky to give you answers. Your innocent eyes were calling to him but before he could tell you what's going on, your mother’s voice rang on the mic and your name was called.
Bucky reluctantly saw you walk away and you kept on glancing back at him. His eyes were filled with worry and you knew something wrong was going to happen.
Bucky sat down at his table near the stage where the auction was about to begin. He thought about why you weren't told about this but he wanted his thoughts to be proven wrong. Surely your parents weren't that power hungry.
All the women you had noticed were called on stage one by one and were being auctioned off. Your heart racing off the charts and you kept on glancing at Bucky from behind the curtains. He hadn't put in a price at any of them. You were relieved by that but terrified about you being put beside all these women.
Soon all the women in front of you were auctioned off.
“And now, a very special someone. She carries all of my pride with her.” Your father began your introduction and you smoothened your dress, trying to look brave.
Bucky felt like he was staring at the devil. How could your own father auction you off to all these sleazy men out here? His biggest fear of tonight was coming to light. He had been meaning to save you from this prison for a while and your father had just given him the reason to drag you away, even if it cost him a few hundred thousand bucks.
“Please welcome my daughter, Y/N! Her bidding starts at…”
You were now standing in front of all these… eyes. You felt cheap. You felt like a whore. Your parents had officially become vultures to you. Tears were streaming down your face as you stood on the stage. Nobody cared about that.
Because the spotlight was on you, you couldn't see who was bidding on you. But as the numbers went higher, the cheaper you felt. Till everything came to a standstill and you saw someone walk up to the stage.
“Come on, baby. Let's get going.” Bucky’s voice tore through the hooting and booing of the crowd.
You gasped in shock but you walked to him anyway. At least he made you feel safer. He wrapped one hand around your waist and the other around your legs and lifted you like a sack on his shoulder.
You refused to meet your parents’ eyes as you were carried out of the room where another round of hooting erupted.
Bucky walked straight to your room, not bothering to stop anywhere else. When you both reached the door to your room, he slowly lowered you down. You were a crying mess but at least now you were safe.
“Come on, princess. Let's go in.” Bucky nudged your back a little.
“B-b-but that's my room.” You cowered.
“Princess, listen. If you open your door and invite me in, only then will I step into your safe space. Also, I cannot talk about anything out here. There are ears everywhere.” He caressed your hair to calm you down. He brought out his handkerchief and cleaned your face a little to make you feel more calm.
You nodded and opened the door to your room and stepped in with Bucky in tow. As soon as you stepped in the room, he closed the door shut. You panicked. Was he going to do something? This is not how you pictured to spend time with the man you had fallen in love with.
“Princess, don't worry. I didn't close, just shut the door for a little privacy. Now, pack your bags. I'm taking you home with me.”
“Wh-what?”
You were shocked by his revelation. Anywhere would be better than here with your parents but you were not ready, were you? You really were a princess and anywhere else felt… scary.
“I'm not letting you stay here a minute longer. Showing off your achievements was different but auctioning you off is fucked up.” Bucky dragged out your big suitcase and started stuffing all your comfy clothes in it.
“Bucky, wait, stop! What are you doing?” You hold his hand and pull him to face you.
“I am getting you out of here. Did you know what was going on down there? Teh auction? It wasn't just for the money. Those were… i cant believe your father… he was selling you off to the highest bidder. You would have been ruined by now! You weren't going to be returned if someone else had taken you!”
Bucky closed your suitcase after emptying more than half of your room. He was frustrated. He ran his hand on his hair and started dragging your suitcase out of the room.
“Wait, Bucky! We can’t- you can't just take me with you! That's- you're my father’s best friend.”
“I can.” He holds your jaw in his hand, softly but with authority. “I paid for you, princess. This is my one and only way of saving you from all of this.”
“Why do you want to save me, Bucky?” Your voice faltered. Your face was very close to his.
“Because, my dear Princess, you belong to me now. I've had my sights on you for a really long time and now I get to have you the way I want.” Bucky pecked your lips and held your hand to pull you to his car that was parked right outside the door.
………………………..
You stepped in the Barnes Manor and looked at the grandeur of everything around you. You didn't expect Bucky to be so… materialistic.
“Not everything is mine. My ex wife was way too much into these things. Been trying to get rid of things but i don't know how or where to start.” Bucky looked at you as if he could read your thoughts.
He asked you to follow him and he took you to an empty room. It looked like an empty canvas. Bucky’s men dropped off your bags in the room and left, closing the door behind them.
“Umm… Bucky… How will you have me?” Your whispered voice bounced against the room walls, making Bucky take a sharp turn at you.
“What?” He was flabbergasted.
“Well, you, uh, paid for me. So, you get to have me, right? That's what the auction was about?” You were fidgeting, looking down at your shoes.
“Is that what you think?” Bucky walked closer to you. “That I brought you here to have my way with you?” Bucky cupped your face and made you look up. “Princess, I brought you here because I am not letting someone else have you, not because I want you.”
“So… you don't want me?” Seeing him this close was bringing back those burning desires you have always felt for him.
Seeing your pout and hearing your question, stirred the buried desire in Bucky back to life. If he could, he would've taken you right there in your bedroom but he held on to the one thread of decency.
“Don't say it like that, princess.” There was barely any space between yours and his lips. “I want you so bad, baby, but it's wrong. You're my best friend’s daughter.”
Your eyes fall on his lips, refusing to waver. “You're right. This is very wrong.” You curled your fist around his blazer pulling him slightly closer.
“Princess…” Bucky warned you.
“Yes, sir?” The designation just slipped out.
Bucky lost all his control. He grabbed your face and crashed his lips on yours. His tongue slipped in your mouth as you moaned in the kiss. Your hand snaked around his neck and forced his face closer to yours. You bit his lower lip that made him groan.
He walked forward without breaking the kiss till you both hit the edge of the bed. He pushed you on the bed gently and hovered over you, taking your lips back on his. He kept on pushing you back till you were in the middle of the bed, all tangled up in him.
His lips moved on every inch of your face, kissing and then moved down to your neck, making you moan louder. He nipped at your skin and kissed down your valley before moving back up to your lips.
“Please, sir.” You were begging so prettily. With perfectly swollen lips and dazed eyes, you looked every way ready to be fucked.
“Princess, are you sure? This is your first time.” Bucky caressed your cheeks.
“Yes, sir. Have me. I'm ready. Please fuck me. Please.” You fumbled with Bucky’s shirt buttons.
“Ok ok.” Bucky chuckled, looking at your impatience. “We've got to get you out of that beautiful dress first and then we will remove my suit, okay? And then if you still feel ready, i will fuck you.”
You scrambled up to your feet and tried to find the zipper of the dress to take it off, without trying to tear it. You pouted at Bucky who was looking at your struggle with an amused face.
“Alright. Let me help you. You'll be patient, yes?”
You nodded enthusiastically and stood still like the good girl you want to be for him. He moved you around and zipped down your dress and gently, it fell down at your foot, leaving you exposed. All you were wearing was white underwear since there was no way you could've been able to wear a bra in that dress.
“Wow, princess, you are even more gorgeous than I had imagined.” Bucky gently cupped your boobs and thumbs your nipples, making you push yourself on to him.
“You, you imagined me?” You look at him with wide eyes. You had never expected the man of your dreams doing the same thing you've been doing.
“Of course, baby. Why do you think it was so easy for you to let me kiss you?” Bucky started unbuttoning his shirt. Soon, he was standing in front of you, very, very naked.
You had wanted to cover yourself up but you were so distracted by him, his hands and then his large cock that until he held your hand and guided you back to bed, you were unaware about everything else.
“So, one last time, do you want to go to sleep or do you still want to continue?”
Bucky was ready to pull on the comforter and go to sleep naked beside you. He could relieve himself in the bathroom. He didn't want to put any pressure on you.
“Please, sir. Fuck me.”
Bucky wasted no time in tearing away your underwear and situating himself in between your legs.
“Now, I'm going to have to open you up for me. You still have a chance to say no. After I'm done using my fingers on you, if you feel you've had enough, tell me and we stop.”
Bucky was impatient to have you around his cock but he wasn't going to make you feel like you had to. He actually thought he didn't need to prepare you for seeing how wet and dripping you were for him. But he wanted your first time to be easy, as easy as he could make it for you.
“Pay attention to this, princess. I will go easy but we will use safewords. We will use traffic signals. Green is for good, yellow is to pause or slow down and red is to stop completely. Tell me, which are the safewords? I want to hear them from you.”
“Green is for good, yellow is for pause and red is for stop.” You repeated like a diligent student.
“My good girl. Now, I will be inserting my fingers in you. If you feel uncomfortable, use the safewords. Do you understand?” Bucky started stroking your petals with his fingers, very slowly.
Your breath hitched and you nodded eagerly, excited to see and feel what Bucky would do to you. But he stopped stroking and looked with disapproval. “Use your words, princess. Do you understand?”
“Yes I understand, sir. Please don't stop.” Your breathy reply gave Bucky the satisfaction and he started stroking your petals again, spreading the wetness all around.
Bucky decided not to make you beg so much and very slowly inserted his first metal finger in. you whimpered and gasped at the new intrusion. You cover your mouth with your hands and turn your face, trying to subside the noises coming out from you.
“Look at you, taking my fingers so well. So fucking beautful and tight, writhing under me. I haven't even put my cock in yet.”
Bucky was able slide his second finger just as easily because of how turned on you were. He increased his pace and you mewled under him. He tsked at you trying to hide your voices and so he brought his other hand over to your clit and rubbed it, making you move your hands from your mouth to grip the sheet under you.
“I knew I could get you to remove your hands. You sound so fucking amazing, princess.”
“Oh god! I'm gonna- Bucky! Please, sir. I'm going to-” You were struggling to get the words out without moaning in between.
“Cum for me, princess. Drench my fingers.”
And you did just that. His ministrations led to your cum spurting out on his metal hand that kept on moving in and out of you, making you ride your orgasm. When you came down from your high, he pulled his fingers out, licking them clean, making you wetter than you already were. A small moan escaped your lips, seeing him enjoying your juice.
“You like seeing me enjoy your juice, don't you?” Bucky chuckled at your squirming reaction. He was still sitting between your legs, you being completely exposed to him.
You nodded with blush heavily creeping on your face.
Bucky leaned down and kissed you deeply, making you taste yourself. Your hands rested on his biceps as he sat back up. “What's your color, princess?”
“It's green, sir.”
“Good girl. Now, do you want my cock in you?”
“Yes sir.” Bucky pulled out a condom from the drawer beside the bed and put on the rubber. You looked intently at his actions, learning how to do it when next time you get to have Bucky.
Bucky pecked you on the lips again and aligned himself against your folds. You gasped at the new sensation. Bucky faltered a little. He was about to pull away but you held onto his bicep tighter and pulled him back.
“It's green, sir. I will tell you if I want to stop. So please don't stop. I want you so bad.”
“You beg so pretty, princess. How can I say no to you?”
Bucky pushed his cock furthur in you and just as he was completely in you, your back arched, letting out a lazy moan and a hiss from your throat. Bucky groaned as he felt you tighten around him.
“Fuck, princess. You're strangling me.”
You mewled as he began to move. In and out. The motion was simple but the feeling building inside of you wasn't.
“Been wanting you for so long, sir.” A strangled cry from your mouth cut you off as he pushed himself deeper. “Been thinking only about you.”
Bucky groaned at your confession and his speed increased, making your back arch again with a sudden loud moan. “My princess. All mine, aren't you?”
A garbled moan left you before you could form a full sentence. “All.. yours… sir…”
“Please go faster, sir.” You dug your nails in his bicep.
“No, I don't want to hurt you.” His voice strained. He was holding himself back and you knew that.
“You will never hurt me, sir. Please go faster. Don't hold back.”
Hearing you affirm that you're okay, Bucky pressed himself on you and put his arms under you. Your arms held onto his back and your nails dug and dragged on his back, leaving marks as he increased his thrusting.
“Oh god! Sir! Don't stop. So good!”
“Not stopping, princess. Never stopping. I could just keep on going like this.”
You mewled and whimpered at every thrust and he tightened his hold around you. Your nipples brushed against his and he moved his metal hand from under you to hold your nipple. He turned and twisted them, making you cry out in pleasure.
Bucky put his mouth on your boobs and sucked hard on your nipples, sending waves of pleasure to your folds. His relentless thrusting just added more to what you have been holding on to. The knot in your stomach tightened, sending a familiar shiver down your back.
“Sir, i’m-”
“Cum my princess, you've been good. Cum for me.”
Bucky sped up his thrusting and you arched against him as you found your release. He kept on thrusting through your orgasm, finally finding a release in you. Your pussy had tightened its hold on him and milked him so well. He kept on murmuring praises in your ear as his thrusting faltered and he stayed still.
“Are you ok, princess?” Bucky shifted and pulled out of you. You whined at the loss but were too fucked out to move. “Use your words, baby.”
“I'm ok. I'm more than ok.” You gave him a dazed smile that made him chuckle.
He stood up from the bed and carried you to the bathroom and helped you clean up. He filled the tub with warm water and sat you in the tub and settled behind you. He pulled you flush against his chest and you rested your head on his shoulder.
“Will you send me back? Now that you got what you paid for?” Your small voice clenched his heart.
“I didnt pay to fuck you, princess. I paid to get you out of that house. Having you in my bed, naked, wanting, is just a perk.” Bucky kissed your cheek and pulled you even closer. “I am not sending you anywhere, princess. You belong to me now. The moment you stepped in my house, you were mine. And now that I've had your taste, I'm not going back.”
“So,” you fiddled with your fingers. “If I belong to you, if I am yours, then does that mean you belong to me too? Does that mean you're mine too?”
“Yes, princess. I am all yours.” Bucky kissed your shoulder and then pulled you in a sweet kiss.
You both get up from the tub and Bucky dried you with a fluffy towel. He put one of his old t-shirts on you and a pair of his old breezy boxers that had gotten too tight because of his thighs. He wore one of his joggers and an old tank.
You both slipped in bed and he pulled you flushed against him. You sighed deeply and closed your eyes as the tiring activities were taking over you. But then you had a thought and your eyes popped open. You sat up on the bed, startling Bucky.
“What about dad? He… won't he ask you to return me? What will we do? He'll be pissed. He will cut me off. I have nowhere else to go. I think I should go back.”
Bucky sat up and cupped your face, making you look at him. The panicked look in your eyes made him want to tuck you closer to him but it wasn't going to work. He needed to calm you.
“Princess, look at me. What did I say about you being here?”
“That I belong to you and I'm yours.” your voice turned smaller.
“Exactly. So don't worry about your father at all. I'm here. I will handle everything. And you are not leaving this house. This is yours just as much as mine. Understood?” Bucky caressed your cheeks to calm you down.
“Yes. Understood.” You moved closer to Bucky who pulled you further into his embrace.
“Good girl. Now get some sleep.” He pulled you back on bed and kissed your forehead as you snuggled closer into his arms.
Bucky knew it would cost something to have you in his arms but he also knew that once he had you, he would pay the price but never let you go.

Tumblr media
Hotch's sleeves were rolled to his elbows, and for the first time, the cabin lighting caught on a scar of his left hand—a thin, pale line etched across his knuckles. You hadn't noticed it before. Not in all the weeks since you joined the team—when he passed you case files, when he handed you a cup of coffee, somehow, the imperfection had eluded you. Some profiler you are. It wasn't fresh—not jagged or angry. How hadn't you noticed it before? You wondered how he got it. An old case? An accident in his childhood?
You blinked, ripping your gaze away and staring down at the case file as if sheer willpower could force the words to make sense. But they didn't. They blurred together, unreadable, because your thoughts had strayed elsewhere. Across from you, your boss sat reclined against the leather seat, one arm draped loosely on the armrest. His tie hung unevenly, just a little off-center, his shirt slightly untucked from a long day of work, the kind of disheveled that came only after a successful case. You should look away, really, but the longer your stared, the harder it became.
It wasn't like you hadn't noticed Hotch before—he was hard not to notice. But this pull, this godforsaken gravitational force that seized you every time he was near, that stole the air from your lungs and replaced it with static—It was all-consuming. Debilitating, one might say. You weren't like this, not with anyone. Not with either of the boyfriends you'd had, not even during those early, naive moments when you were first discovering what it meant to be in love.
Now you were thinking maybe you’d never actually been in love. Maybe every so-called relationship before this had been nothing more than placeholders, distractions. The idea gnawed at you, and you shoved it down, locked it away before it could fester.
Because this was absurd. Illogical. He was nearly twice your age. Your father's college roommate. A man who should be off-limits in every conceivable way and yet—
"Let's go over the case file again."
His voice startled you. You snapped your eyes back to him, pulse kicking up a notch when you realized he was watching you. How long had he been watching? How long had you been staring?
"Uh, right," you said, fumbling for the paper. "The case."
Your fingers brushed over the wrong paper first, and you muttered a half-formed apology as you shuffled through the file. When you finally found the right one, you risked a glance up to find him still looking at you. It wasn't the stern, I'm in charge look you recognized at briefings to your immediate relief, but it softer, a little more patient.
He did this after every case and at this point, you were starting to think he enjoyed this—making you go over every case in excruciating detail, combing through victim statements and behavioral patterns like it was a final exam. If it were anyone else, you might have teased him for it, might have joked about him being a tough grader or something equally harmless. But this was Hotch, and he wasn't exactly being critical, but he was definitely measuring you, gauging just how quickly you were learning.
You cleared your throat.
"Um, okay. The whole case kind of revolved around their relationship, right? The age difference?"
Hotch nodded, flipping to another page in his report. "It was a contributing factor, yes."
You hesitated, pressing your teeth into your lip before speaking again. "I guess I just don't really get it."
Hotch glanced up at you, brow raised. "What don't you get?"
"The way everyone kept saying it like it was inevitable—like, just because there was an age gap, the relationship had to be unhealthy." You frowned, tapping your pen against the margin of the paper. "I get that it's a pattern in a lot of cases, but that doesn't mean every older guy dating a younger woman is some kind of predator, right?"
Hotch didn’t respond immediately. Instead, he set his report aside, lacing his fingers together in front of him.
"It's not always malicious," he said slowly, like he was choosing each word with care. “But even when there’s no bad intent, those relationships can slip into something unbalanced—sometimes without either person realizing it’s happening.”
"Because one person has more experience?" You tilted your head to the side.
"That, and because experience changes what you want."
You hesitated, his certainty catching you off guard. He didn’t say it like an opinion—he said it like a fact. Like something he knew firsthand.
 "What do you mean?"
Hotch leaned back, fingers drumming on the table—like he was turning the thought over in his mind before speaking it aloud.
“When you’re younger, your idea of love—of what a relationship should be—is still evolving. You’re figuring out who you are, what you need, what you’re willing to give.” His eyes flicked to yours. "Someone older already knows these things. Which means they know how to steer the relationship in a direction that benefits them.”
You absorbed that for a second, shifting in your seat. "So you think that people in relationships like that are...what? Being manipulated?"
"Not always." His tone was even. "But the dynamic can be hard to navigate. If one person holds more control—whether that's financial, emotional, or just in life experience—it's easy for the other to fall into place around them without realizing it."
That sat uncomfortably in your chest. You didn't think you disagreed with him. But something about it felt... personal.
You weren't naive—you knew how people saw these kinds of relationships. You'd seen it in cases before, in books, in the way people whispered about couples like that. And sure, you understood the bad versions of it. But Hotch was making it sound like an inherent flaw.
"I don't know," you admitted, shaking your head. "I just...I guess I don't see the problem if both people want to be there."
The words felt uncertain, even as you said them. You weren’t sure what you were defending anymore. You’d never been in a relationship with that kind of imbalance—both of your boyfriends had been your age, on equal footing. You’d never had to think about who held more control.
But then there was Hotch. And now, you were thinking about it all the time.
"That's the thing, they might think they do."
Your brows knit together. "And you don't think they actually do?"
He hesitated. Just for a second. But it was the first time in the entire conversation that he did.
"Sometimes," he said, “when you don’t have enough life behind you, it’s easy to mistake infatuation for certainty. To want something before you understand what wanting really means.”
Infatuation.
The word lodged itself in your mind, demanding to be examined. Was that what this was? A temporary fascination wrapped in the illusion of something deeper? Or maybe it was something darker—something tied to the way he made you feel untouchable, safe.
Or maybe it had nothing to do with him it all. Maybe it was about absence. About the gaps in your life, he seemed to fill. The things your father never gave you. And maybe that was the real problem.
"You talk about it like it's a foregone conclusion."
Hotch tilted his head slightly, studying you. "Wouldn't you say most patterns are?"
You didn’t know how to answer that. There was something too final in the way he said it, something that made your throat feel tight. You felt a little warm again.
"So, what do you think happens when the younger person does know what they want."
Hotch’s fingers flexed against the armrest, a barely-there movement, but you caught it. His jaw tightened. "Then it's up to the older one to know better."
You were overthinking this. Reading into nothing. He was just explaining the case, same as always. Same as he would with anyone. Just answering a question—one that you asked. There was no weight to his words beyond the conversation itself. This wasn’t something you needed to think about later. This wasn’t something that meant anything.
Still, you shifted in your seat, stretching your legs out, crossing them at the ankle, uncrossing them again—suddenly restless in a way you couldn’t quite name.

Unspoken Desires | LN4
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
🎀 summary ━━━━━━━ Lando and Y/N had been friends for some time, having met through mutual friends. Lando had been attracted to Y/N from the moment they met, and his admiration for her only grew over time—particularly for her breasts. He thought no one knew about his fixation, but Y/N had figured it out. Once she realized Lando's obsession, she started wearing more revealing tops whenever she knew they would be in the same place. One night, when they ended up alone, Y/N began teasing Lando with her breasts. It was then that she confessed she knew about his attraction.

Lando shifted uncomfortably in his seat, trying to avert his gaze as Y/N walked into the room. She had chosen one of those tops today—the kind that seemed designed to test the limits of modesty. The fabric clung to her curves, leaving little to the imagination, and he could feel his pulse quicken as his eyes instinctively drifted downward.
Her boobs. He swallowed hard, cursing himself for being so obvious. Focus, Lando. Just focus. But it was no use. Every time she moved, the material stretched, teasing him with glimpses of what lay beneath. He wondered if she noticed his ogling. Surely not. He prided himself on being discreet, on making sure his admiration stayed hidden behind a veil of casual indifference.
Y/N sat down across from him, crossing her legs in a way that made the hem of her skirt ride up just enough to keep him guessing. "Hey," she said, her voice smooth and inviting. "You look like you’ve got a lot on your mind."
"Uh, nothing," he stammered, quickly glancing away. "Just… just thinking about work, I guess."
She raised an eyebrow, her lips curling into a sly smile. "Work? Really? Because you’ve been staring at my chest for the past five minutes."
His face flushed instantly. "What? No! I wasn’t—"
Y/N leaned forward, her elbows resting on the table. The movement caused her top to dip slightly, revealing just enough to make his breath hitch. "Relax," she said, her tone light but laced with something deeper. "It’s not a crime to appreciate a good pair of… assets."
Lando felt his throat go dry. Was she messing with him? Testing him? Or was she really this nonchalant about it? Either way, he couldn’t tear his eyes away. Her confidence was intoxicating, and the way she toyed with him made it impossible to think straight.
"I… uh… I wasn’t staring," he mumbled, though the words lacked any real conviction.
She chuckled softly, leaning back in her chair. "Sure you weren’t. And I suppose you haven’t spent every night since we met fantasizing about them either?"
His jaw dropped. "How—how do you know that?"
Y/N’s smile widened, and she tilted her head ever so slightly. "Let’s just say I’m observant. And you’re not exactly subtle, Lando."
He opened his mouth to respond, but no words came out. Instead, he felt heat rising to his cheeks, his heart pounding in his chest. She knew. Somehow, she knew. And instead of being freaked out or angry, she was… playful. Teasing.
"Listen," she said, her voice dropping to a whisper. "It’s okay. You don’t have to hide it anymore."
Lando blinked, unsure if he was hearing her right. "I don’t?"
"No," she replied, her tone confident yet inviting. "In fact, I kinda like it. It means you’re paying attention."
Her words sent a jolt through him, and he felt his resolve slipping. There was something in her demeanor, in the way she held herself, that made him want to lean in, to close the space between them. But he hesitated, unsure of how far she was willing to take this.
"Look," she continued, her hand reaching out to gently brush against his. "Why don’t we stop pretending? You want me, and I… well, I want you too."
Her admission hung in the air between them, heavy and electric. Lando’s mind raced. This was insane. They were friends. They had always been friends. But now, with her so close, her touch so warm, the lines blurred.
"Y/N," he began, his voice shaky. "Are you sure about this?"
She didn’t answer right away. Instead, she stood up and rounded the table, her movements slow and deliberate. When she reached him, she placed a hand on his shoulder, her fingers tracing small circles against his skin. "Positive," she murmured, her breath hot against his ear.
Lando shivered at her nearness, his body responding instinctively. He wanted to reach out, to touch her, but he was afraid—afraid of ruining whatever this was, afraid of pushing too far.
"Don’t overthink it," she whispered, her lips brushing against his earlobe. "Just let yourself feel."
And then, without warning, she stepped back slightly and pulled her top over her head, tossing it aside. Her breasts were exposed now, ripe and full, the pale curve of her nipples begging to be touched. Lando’s breath caught in his throat, his eyes fixated on her form.
"Y/N…" he muttered, his voice barely audible.
She smiled again, stepping closer until her hips were pressed against his lap. "Go ahead," she urged, her hands moving to guide his own. "Touch them. Adore them. Let me feel how much you’ve wanted this."
Y/N’s fingers curled around Lando’s wrists, her grip firm yet gentle, guiding his hands toward her breasts. His palms were sweaty, his heart pounding so hard it felt like it might burst through his chest. He wanted to pull away, to tell her he couldn’t do this, but the weight of her confidence and the undeniable thrill of finally being allowed to touch her paralyzed him.
Her skin was so soft.
His fingertips brushed against the underside of her breast, and she let out a small, breathy moan that sent a shiver down his spine. She didn’t stop him, didn’t scold him for moving too slowly. Instead, she leaned into his touch, her head tilting slightly as if she were savoring the sensation.
“Lando…” she murmured, her voice low and teasing. “You’ve been dreaming about this for so long, haven’t you? Don’t hold back now.”
He swallowed hard, his throat dry, and nodded dumbly. Her nipple grazed against his palm, and he almost jerked his hand away in shock. But she tightened her grip on his wrist, anchoring him in place.
“That’s it,” she whispered, her lips curling into a sly smile. “Feel how perfect they are. Tell me what you think.”
His mouth moved, but no words came out. All he could do was stare at her chest, at the way her breasts jiggled ever so slightly with every movement, at the rosy tips that seemed to perk up under his hesitant touch. He didn’t know what to say, how to articulate the chaos of emotions swirling inside him. Desire, guilt, disbelief—it all crashed together in his mind, making it impossible to form coherent thoughts.
“I-I don’t know what to say,” he stammered finally, his voice cracking.
She chuckled softly, a sound that was both comforting and intoxicating. “You don’t have to say anything,” she said, her tone warm and inviting. “Just show me how much you’ve wanted this. Show me how much you’ve thought about my body when you’re alone.”
Her words were a dare, a challenge, and Lando found himself unable to resist. With a quiet groan, he cupped her breast fully in his hand, his fingers tightening instinctively as if afraid she might slip away. The feel of her weight in his palm was surreal, something he had fantasized about countless times but never dared to believe could be real.
She was real.
He could feel the heat radiating from her skin, the rapid flutter of her heartbeat as it pressed against his palm. And then there was the taste of her name on his tongue, the way it rolled out of his mouth as if it belonged there.
“Y/N…” he breathed, his voice thick with emotion.
She rewarded him with another soft moan, her eyes fluttering closed as she pressed herself more firmly against his hand. “Yes, that’s it,” she whispered, her voice dripping with satisfaction. “Touch me, Lando. Let me feel how much you’ve wanted this.”
He wasn’t sure how much longer he could keep his composure. Every stroke of his fingers against her skin felt like a spark igniting aflame within him. His other hand rose tentatively, mirroring the movements of the first, until both of her breasts were cradled in his palms. He kneaded them gently at first, marveling at their softness, their weight, the way they filled his hands perfectly.
And then, without warning, his thumbs flicked over her nipples, catching them between his fingers and rolling them teasingly. Y/N arched her back immediately, her head falling backward as a gasp escaped her lips.
“Oh…” she cried out, her voice trembling with desire. “Lando, yes… just like that.”
He could feel her pulse quickening beneath his fingertips, her body reacting to his touch in a way that made his own arousal impossible to ignore. His cock twitched against the fabric of his pants, aching for release, but he couldn’t tear his focus away from the woman in front of him.
Her breasts were even more magnificent up close, their pale perfection streaked with the faintest blush of pink. He marveled at the way her nipples hardened under his touch, the way they seemed to beg for more attention. And when his fingers circled them again, pressing lightly before releasing, she whimpered softly, her hips shifting against him.
“Don’t stop,” she pleaded, her voice breathless and urgent. “Please, Lando… I need more.”
Her desperation sent a surge of triumph coursing through him. For so long, he had been the one craving, the one yearning for her attention. Now, she was the one begging, and the power of it was intoxicating.
With renewed confidence, he changed his technique, sliding his hands up to cup her breasts more firmly. His thumbs dragged slowly across her nipples, teasing them until they stood proudly, begging for more. Y/N’s moans grew louder, her hands gripping his shoulders for support as she pressed herself closer to him.
“Harder,” she demanded, her voice breaking slightly. “Touch me harder, Lando. I want to feel how much you’ve wanted this.”
Her words were a command, and Lando obeyed without hesitation. He pinched her nipples between his fingers, twisting them gently but firmly, eliciting a sharp gasp from her lips. She bucked her hips against his lap, grinding against him in a way that left no doubt about her arousal.
“Ah! Yes!” she cried out, her nails digging into his shoulders. “God, Lando… I knew you had it in you.”
He wasn’t sure how much longer he could keep this up. His own need was growing unbearable, his cock straining against his zipper as he continued to explore her body. Each moan, each shudder of her body against his, only served to fuel his desire further.
“Y/N…” he muttered again, his voice hoarse with longing. “I can’t… I can’t take much more of this.”
She opened her eyes, her gaze smoldering as she looked down at him. “Then don’t,” she said simply, her tone daring him to push further. “Take what you want, Lando. Stop holding back.”
Y/N smirked, her eyes locking onto his as she slowly slid off the couch, her movements deliberate and confident. She knew exactly what she was doing. Lando watched her with wide eyes, his breath hitching as she dropped to her knees in front of him, her face level with his crotch. The air between them thickened, charged with unspoken desire that neither could deny any longer.
“What are you doing?” he asked, his voice barely above a whisper, though there was no real question behind it. He knew exactly what she was doing.
“What do you think I’m doing?” she replied, her tone playful but laced with something deeper—something that made his heart pound harder in his chest.
Her lips curled into a wicked smile as she reached for the zipper of his jeans, her fingers brushing against his skin as she pulled it down slowly, deliberately. His cock twitched at the sensation, already hard and pressing against the fabric of his boxers. Y/N hummed softly, a sound that sent shivers down his spine, as she hooked her fingers into the waistband of his pants and tugged them down just enough to free his aching erection.
“You’re so eager,” she murmured, her voice low and teasing as she wrapped her hand around his length, giving it a slow, firm stroke. “I can feel how badly you want this.”
Lando groaned, his head falling back against the couch as her touch sent waves of pleasure coursing through him. “God, Y/N…” he muttered, his voice strangled as he tried to hold himself together. “You have no idea.”
She laughed softly, a sound that made his stomach tighten with need. “Oh, I think I do,” she said, her tone dripping with confidence. “I think I know exactly how much you’ve been dreaming about this.”
Before he could respond, she leaned forward, her lips brushing against the tip of his cock, teasing him mercilessly. Lando’s hips jerked involuntarily, his hands fisting in the fabric of the couch as he fought to stay still. “Please…” he begged, his voice cracking. “Don’t tease me like this.”
“Hmm, but I thought you liked it when I tease you,” she said, looking up at him through her lashes as she took him into her mouth, her warm, wet tongue swirling around the head of his dick before sliding down his length.
Lando groaned loudly, his body arching off the couch as her mouth worked its magic on him. She sucked gently at first, her lips tight around him as she bobbed her head up and down, taking him deeper with each movement. Her hair fell around her face like a curtain, framing her in a way that made her look even more irresistible. He couldn’t tear his eyes away.
“Fuck, Y/N…” he gasped, his fingers tangling in her hair as he tried to steady himself. “You’re killing me…”
She pulled off him with a pop, her eyes gleaming with mischief as she looked up at him. “Am I now?” she teased, running her tongue along her lips as if savoring the taste of him. “Well, maybe I don’t want to kill you just yet.”
With that, she shifted her position, kneeling up slightly as she cupped her breasts in her hands, pushing them together to create a perfect shelf for his cock. Lando’s eyes widened as he realized what she intended to do, his breath catching in his throat as she guided the tip of his dick between her cleavage.
“Do you like that?” she asked, her voice sultry as she began to rock her shoulders, using her tits to fuck him. “Do you like feeling my boobs wrapped around your cock?”
“Yes,” he choked out, his hands gripping the edge of the couch as he struggled to stay upright. “God, yes…”
Y/N continued to move, her breasts slick with the saliva from her mouth as she pressed them tightly around him, squeezing him with each thrust. Lando’s vision blurred with pleasure, his whole body trembling as she worked him over, driving him closer and closer to the edge.
“You’re so good at this,” he managed to pant, his voice hoarse with need. “I can’t believe you’re doing this for me…”
She grinned wickedly, her eyes locking onto his as she quickened her pace, her tits bouncing with every movement. “Believe it,” she said, her tone sharp and commanding. “And don’t you dare come until I tell you to.”
Lando groaned, his head falling back again as he tried to obey her command, but it was nearly impossible. Her tits felt so good around him, so warm and soft and tight, and the way she moved only made it worse. He could feel the pressure building in his balls, his orgasm threatening to spill over at any moment.
“Y/N…” he warned, his voice strained as he opened his eyes to look at her. “I don’t think I can hold back much longer.”
She smirked, clearly enjoying his discomfort. “Good,” she said simply, her tone leaving no room for argument. “Because I want you to feel every second of this.”
With that, she tightened her grip on her breasts, forcing them even closer together around his shaft as she rocked her hips, her movements becoming more erratic as she pushed him toward the edge. Lando’s breath came in short, desperate gasps, his body tensing as he felt the climax begin to build.
“I’m close,” he admitted, his voice barely audible as he struggled to hold on. “So close…”
Y/N didn’t say anything, just kept moving, her eyes never leaving his as she drove him closer and closer to the brink. And then, finally, he couldn’t hold back any longer. With a loud groan, Lando came, his release spilling out over her breasts as she continued to milk him until every last drop was gone.
Panting, he collapsed back against the couch, his body limp and spent as he stared up at the ceiling, trying to catch his breath. Y/N, meanwhile, sat back on her heels, a triumphant smile playing on her lips as she looked down at him.
“Told you I knew what I was doing,” she said, her tone smug but undeniably sexy.
Lando couldn’t help but laugh weakly, his body still buzzing with pleasure. “Yeah,” he agreed, his voice rough. “You definitely did.”

use a catheter on me. fill me up before going to sleep, water, soda and of course a lot of tea. in the morning I'm desperate, pleading for my morning release, but you don't let me go. I'm squirming, even standing is really painful. I think it's finally over when you come to me at my catheter, but you just attach a funnel and fill me up with your piss. at this point my bladder is unbearably stretched, it just hurts. I beg you to let me pee but you have other plans. you dress me in a slutty outfit, short crop top with no bras and a tiny skirt without panties.
"we're going to the grocery store" you say. and that's it, my begs are usless.
every step is painful, my legs can barely hold me but fortunately the store is near. we go through the aisles, you order me to bend to take some stuff, just to see my ass, my bare pussy showing off and whimper escaping from my lips. it hurts so much, I need to empty my bladder. we wait in line for payment, luckly an old woman allow us to pass.
"you should go first since you're pregnant, such a lovely couple" she said, pointing towards my bulging belly. I can barely smile, the bladder is so full and stretched, you smirk. "you're so kind ma'am, wanna feel the baby?" so you guide her hand to my belly, prodding and squishing it, I just wanna cry. the old woman starts touching it too.
"please..." I manage to whimper. "oh poor girl, you must be so sensitive, you might need a massage" said the woman, starting touching harder to help but just getting me more desperate. you chuckle, seeing how the ma'am was unknowingly torturing me.
"thanks for the advice, I'll treat her at home" you smirk. after paying and getting back I start begging you. on the floor of the house I'm just a whimpering mess.
"don't worry, I got you" you said, just for you to turn me over, my bladder pressing on the floor in a hurtful way and your cock sliding into my tight cunt.
"please so full... to full..." I can only whimper, my bladder stretched to unbearable limits. you continue pounding into me, while I cry until you cum and cum again. my pussy abused, overstimulated and red, your cum filling me even more. you let out some other sprout of piss, just to plug it in me and leave me on the floor like this, a whimpering and crying mess, full, hurt and bruised, with my belly stretched out and bulging a lot. piss and cum filling me up.
"get up, you have my bath to run" you order. it will be a long day and I can already barely crawl without crying in pain.
pretty please??? (MDNI)

Miguel thinks he should never let you drink again in your whole life.
“Y/N,” he says through gritted teeth, irritated now. Actually, he was irritated ten minutes ago but was doing a better job at hiding it. “Come on. Get off me.”
You’re dead weight in his lap. He wouldn’t mind, he likes when you sit on him like this, only you’re in the middle of the bar and there are at least five Peter’s looking his way and smirking, and he can see Hobie Brown laughing at him behind his hand across the room.
“Whyyyyy?” You drawl, your lips slow and your tongue slower. You paw at his chest and give him a glare that’s about as menacing as a puppy. “You’re so mean.”
Miguel sighs heavily. He picks up his hands where they’d been hovering at your sides, unsure whether he should touch you or not when you’re like this, and gets a good grip on your hips.
“C’mon, get up,” he says. He lifts you off his lap with ease, fingers curling around your hips, and deposits you in the booth seat next to him.
To Miguel’s surprise, you don’t flop into his side or try to climb back onto him like he thought you would. Where seconds ago you were like a rag doll, you sit rigid straight.
“What?” He asks you, genuinely confused.
“Sorry,” you say quietly, frowning to yourself. “I didn’t mean that. You’re not mean.”
Miguel blinks at you. “Oh. No, that’s not why I made you get off, sweetheart. I know you don’t actually think I’m mean.”
Slowly, you brighten up like a wind up toy, springing back to life in slow motion with a big smile painting itself across your mouth, all teeth. “Oh, okay. Can I get back on you now?”
Miguel actually laughs. He’s very tempted to say yes, you can sit in his lap as long as you like. He doesn’t, mostly because you’re very obviously past your limit and you need a bed and some water. Neither of which he can get you here.
“You’re funny, cariño,” he tells you, chucking you under the chin with his knuckles. You beam up at him, eyes squinting so much they’re half closed. He indulges himself in a squeezing of your cheek before breaking the news, “No, you can’t get back on me—“ Your face falls, “—But I can take you to bed?”
Your smile comes back so quick it’s alarming, and you nod vehemently. “Yeah, please.”
Miguel manages to get you out of the Spider-Bar (nicknamed by one of the Peter’s, he can’t remember which but Miguel refuses to call it that. It’s just a section off the second floor of Headquarters where Spider-people migrate to drink.) without you tripping over your own feet. He’s discovering you’re a very clumsy, clingy drunk. That, and you really can’t hold your liquor. He’s only had a little less than you and he feels completely fine. Other than the burning in his chest, though he’s pretty sure that has more to do with you and your presence than the alcohol.
He gets you into an elevator and holds you up when you slouch into his side. His arm around your hip and both of your hands clinging like vines to his free arm, tight enough to ache but he can’t bring himself to ask you to loosen your grip a little. He’d be lying if he said he doesn’t enjoy your apparent desperation to stick to him like glue.
The elevator dings and the doors slide open. A gaggle of Spider-Women wait on the other side, Jess among them. The younger girls giggle amongst themselves when they see the predicament they’ve caught their haughty boss in.
“Hey, Miguel,” Jess drawls as she sidles past him, Miguel practically dragging you out of the elevator now and out of the way of the girls. “Hey, Y/N.” She grins at your inebriated state, then looks to Miguel, “Early night?”
It’s almost midnight. Miguel can’t tell if she’s teasing or not. She probably is. “Yeah.”
“Miguel’s taking me to bed,” you pipe up, a lustful tone to your sticky, slurry voice that Miguel winces at. He hadn’t meant it like that. Clearly, your drunk mind had taken it that way. He’ll be sure to set the record straight once you’re safe and alone in his room.
Jess laughs loud. “Right. Well, have fun with that.”
She’s still laughing as the elevator doors slide shut. Miguel sighs. He’s not gonna hear the end of that for at least a week. You tug on his arm and smile up at him sweetly, and he forgets all about it.
“What is it, cariño?” He hums.
“Can you carry me? My feet are sore.”
Miguel indulges you. Partly because you’d asked and he’s yet again been tasked with the challenge of saying no to you (which he fails at every time), and partly because you’re slowing him down and he really wants to get to his room before he meets anyone else. He scoops you up easily, one arm hooked beneath your thighs and the other under your back. You giggle dazedly and hook your arms around his neck tight enough that it’d hurt anyone but Miguel, burying your face in his neck, your flyaway hair tickling his skin.
By the time he gets you to his room you’re half asleep in his arms. He’d let you sleep but your suit is constricting. He deposits you on the bed in the dark and switches on the lamp. He only manages to turn on his heels before you’re grabbing his arm, warm hand wrapping around his wrist with a clumsy desperation.
“Don’t go,” you murmur, eyes half closed.
Miguel pries your hand away gently. “I’m not going anywhere. Just getting your pyjamas.”
You allow it but you make a grab for him as soon as he’s back, hands warm at his waist. He stands in front of you and undresses you out of your spidersuit, then redresses you into the pyjamas you keep in his room. You keep quiet other than the occasional hiccup and despite your amorous comment earlier you don’t try anything, even when you’re completely bare-chested and Miguel is standing over you. While he pulls your shirt over you head, your hands find his hips and grip them like somebody’s trying to take him away from you.
He gives you a glass of water which you skull back like you’re about to die of thirst. He refills the glass and when he comes back you’ve turned the light off and buried yourself under the covers. He thinks you’re asleep until he goes to put the glass on the bedside table and your hand sneaks out of the sheets, reaching for him.
“Miguel…” you murmur, fingers brushing his abdomen. You tilt your head up towards him, searching for him in the dark.
“You okay?” He asks, concerned you’re not feeling well. He hopes you’re not the kind of drunk who throws up everything they drank. Though he can’t say he’d mind looking after you even if you were.
“I’m fine,” you say softly. It’s dark and he can barely see your face but he hears your next words just fine. “Thank you for looking after me … I love you.”
Miguel is so shocked he almost drops the glass of water he’s holding. Sure, he knew you had feelings for him. He knew you care for him about as much as he does for you, which is an inordinate amount. To hear you say it is different. His fondness for you multiplies by about a million and the chasm in his chest feels, not for the first time since he met you, a little bit smaller.
He knows you probably won’t remember it in the morning, but it’s been said and his chest is aflame. He sets the cup down and then crouches next to your lovely, tired face, and cups your cheek. He presses a soft kiss to your temple, and then your lips. Your eyelashes flutter as your eyes fall shut and you smile.
Miguel waits til he’s sure you’re asleep to say it back — vulnerability’s never really been his strong suit. He tucks hair away from your face, feeling a bit drunk himself. Just not from anything he drank. “I love you too, mi amor.”
