of monsters and milk (dad!hanjisung)
can ya'll tell i have the biggest fucking soft spot for dad!han đ
"Weeeeeee-gaaahh".
"AH. CRYING BABY"
Han jolts into a sitting position, all senses on high alert, eyes wide and his messy head of hair all fluffed out and tousled from the abrupt start.
He quickly slips out of the rumpled sheets and crawls over to the bassinet at the feet of the bed just as you start to stir awake, ever so slowly.
"Mmh...Nari?".
Han swiftly picks up his crying baby, he retrieves her discarded pacifier and gently sticks it in her mouth as too soothe her quickly, all the while rocking her in his arms gently, "I got this, shh, go back to sleep", he instructs softly, leaning in to kiss your forehead.
In your hazy, still dreamy state you catch but a jumbled murmur of his words and whiff on Nari's baby powder and milk scent before you drift off to sleep incredibly quickly. After all being a parent for the second time with a toddler and a 2 months old baby gets the best of you. Reason why you and Han take turns for night feeds and cuddles and just overall baby duties.
Perhaps the both of you combined might eventually get 8 full hours of sleep in a week. Not 8 consecutive hours of rest but ... Still.
Nari is not quite calm yet but the pacifier holds off her hungry crying at least until he has successfully padded his way out of your shared bedroom and into the hall, ""ts alright Nari-ah, milk is coming, milk is coming", he mumbles, pressing soft kisses to her downy little head as he makes his way down the hall and is almost about to unlock the kids safe gate perched on top of the stairs when he hears a wail like scream followed by loud whimpers.
"MONSTAH MONSTAH WEEEE".
"Oh ... Another crying baby".Â
Han barely has any time to kneel down on the floor, carefully balancing Nari on his hip while still holding onto her head and neck so it's pressed into his chest when Daisy comes screaming down the hall, running straight into her father's unoccupied arm, spread out for her: "what happened? baby what happened are you okay?", he tries to calm her down by hugging her to the best of his abilities.
It partially works. Nothing like daddy's magic hugs to calm down a crying baby. Daisy burrows her little face into her father's chest and sniffles quietly, "i had a mare mare...wit monstah". A small but painful crack in his heart, Han pulls his older daughter tighter to him, "aw you had a nightmare and a monster was there, sweetheart? I'm so sorry, it must have been scary yeah?", he says calmly, recognizing her fear and distress.
The little girl nods vehemently and sticks her tiny hands in her dad's pjama pants pocket, timdily asking for comfort and shelter, "very scawy, he took Quokki", she confesses, her big brown eyes still glossy with unshed tears, "oh no, not Quokki. I'm so sorry Daisy girl, we should make this bad monster go away shouldn't we? I bet Quokki is scared too", Han says softly, gathering up his two lovely bundles of daughters as he slowly stands up again.
Daisy clings to his legs and looks up at him expectantly, very much wrapped around his finger for Oppa is always so good at helping her through nightmares. "Alright, let's go chase out this bad guy so you and Quokki can go back to sleep", he explains patiently, walking towards her room.
Nari fusess about in slight impatience, her suckling on her pacifier growing sloppy with anticipation for the milk she's been promised, that much Han knows very well. But he's determined not to wake you up again, despite the dark circles around his tired eyes and the overall sleepiness and exhaustion from the numerous sleepless nights, he still takes the time to tackle one problem at a time, help one daughter at a time.
As soon as Daisy walks back into her bedroom she lunges for her HanQuokka plushie, which she has funnily renamed Quokki, and holds him tight to her chest, a sight so heartbreakingly devastating Han crumples on the inside out of pure endearment.
"Good girl, Deiji girl, cuddle him close, he needs you right now", he instructs before bending down on his knees again so he's more eye level with his daughter, "okay, first we have to chase Mr. Monster away from Daisy's little mind and Quokki's too right?", he says and waits for Daisy to nod her approval, "you know how we do that? with a kiss!! Monsters are very afraid of kisses, because kisses are magic!".
Ah the fervent imagination he nurtured with years and years of songwriting and bed time story impromptu making. Han Jisung the artist and the loving father where one and the same: wizards. Little genius brain faces of the same man.
Daisy's adoring eyes go wide with utter bewilderment, her mouth even opening in awe, "what were going to do is daddy gives you a kiss, here on your forehead so Monster flies straight out, and then you give Quokki a kiss on his little forehead so he's protected too!", Han enthuses, admiring how his daughter lights up at the suggestion,"YES!!", the 2 year old exclaims excitedly, now jumping up and down, almost rousing her little sister whose sleepy but inquisitive big eyes are looking around, taking in her sourroundings.
Emphasizing the smack of his lips on her forehead, Han kisses his first baby and taps her head gently, "take that Mr. Monster!", Daisy squeals in happiness and places a resounding kiss onto her plushie, which catches Nari's attention, the infant squirming and whining softly, "ah I think your baby sister might want a magic kiss too!", Han states, immediately abiding to his instincts. Which Daisy promptly replicates by puckering up and standing on her tippy toes to reach her sister.
A tender spike to his heart, Han bends down and watches that blissful moment as Daisy kisses her sister's forehead, looking immensely proud. He still is just astounded at how sensitive and smart and perceptive his first flower is. Actual tears threaten to spill right out of his eyes.
"Gooood girl, good big sissy. Now we're going to open the window so Monster can finally get out", he affirms then, walking over to the moon illuminated window, opening it wide for a brief second, "Mr. Monster we need you to go and leave Daisy alone now, bye bye", he mocks waves his hand bye, his older daughter imitating him, "buh -bye monstah", she exclaims resolutely in her tiny voice.
Once the window is closed Han spins around and holsters up Nari who's now growing restless for her milk, "okay, monster's gone now. Do you want to have some warm milk like sissy before going back to bed?", he offers, "yes, daddah", Daisy beams upnat him and he holds oir his hand for her, "downstairs we go,then. Hand please", he instructs again so they can walk out and then downstairs safely.
He's done this a million times, really. Ever since she started walking and then running and then figuring out how ro climb the stairs, Han knows she's a big girl now, she's careful and capable of moving around on her own quite well. Yet to hold safely that tiny hand while walking downstairs feels like the most precious thing still.
If he could hold her hand forever, through whatever hurdles might come here way, if he could shield and help his daughters bu Just holding their hands forever he would, in a heartbeat.
The clever little older girl climbs on her chair by herself, she patiently waits for her dad to slide said chair closer to the table so she's safe up there and quietly plays with her Quokki while Han warms up some milk. Nari drools all over herself, squirming around in her father's hold when she sees her milk bottle approach, "one second baby girl, it's hot, it's very hot", he says through a yawn, ultimately, finally! sitting down at the table, ready to feed his girls.
He hands Daisy her sippy cup and she takes it with both hands, as if accepting a gift, just like her dad taught her, "there you go, darling", "thank youuu appa". Smiling warmly at her, Han brushes her hair gently, so proud of her manners, the way she's still so young but so talkative and bright. The way she started picking up Korean so well and she spontaneously switches in between languages. He loves their little conversations.
"Kkkksss ahh milky's finally here yeah? Hi sweetheart, hi", he coos softly, feeding Nari who slurps up her milk ravenously while he gently settles her head in the crook of his elbow, right against his chest so her neck is supported and tilted right.
Oh that lovely baby smell intensifying, her tiny sounds and hiccups, Han gazes lovingly into his other daughter's eyes, holding her bottle for her.
He's split between the two loves of his entire life, not sure how to contain all the love stored within him. It's the quiet moments like these that make his heart flutter, just him and these two small humans he helped bring to life.Â
"All done dadda", Daisy exclaims, showing her empty cup, a little sleepiness in her eyes, "you're all done baby? was it yummy? do you want some more?", Han asks, smiling encouragingly, "no thank you, 'm good", she replies through a small yawn, shaking her head,"okay, can you wait two more minutes until sissy's done with her milk or would you like to go to sleep right now?", he inquires, gently tilting the bottle so Nari can easily suck up the last few drops of milk, "Daiji waits", murmurs the little girl, rocking her legs back and forth as she waits patiently at the table.
As soon as Han's done feeding Nari, he grabs a towel and drapes it over his shoulder expertly, he promptly lifts his baby up to his shoulders so he can pat her back and help her digest, silently praying she doesn't spit up her milk while he walks around slowly.
"Can I hol' shissy?". Han stops in his tracks and grins widely at Daisy, who's looking expectantly at her father, he walks over to her at the table and bends down on his knees, "of course you can hold sissy, little daisy flower. You want to be very gentle okay? Dadda helps you".
With a bit of careful maneuvering, and with the strong support of his arms, Han places a now very sleepy very calm baby Nari into her older sister's lap, the little girl cradling the baby so sweetly and hesitantly Han feels his heart swelling and swelling.
"Nari is preeetty", she mumbles under her breath, "yeah she's is very pretty, and you are very pretty. And mum's very pretty too, and you both look just like her", Han replies sincerely, unable to contain the joy manifesting on his face, he kissess both of his daughters' cheeks, so endeared he might cry.
A few goodnight kissess and nuzzles and diaper checks later, once he has made sure Nari's fast asleep in her bassinet and you are still soundly asleep, Han makes his way back to Daisy's room, tired and sleepy beyond comprehension but still willing to tuck his daughter to bed like he promised he would.
Daisy's already all snuggled up to her plushie, a few messy wisps of hair peeking out from underneath the bundle of sheets and blankets she has buried herself in. Han chuckles at the sight and pats her head tenderly, "Deiji baby...", he whispers, loud enough for her to hear while not disrupting her sleepy state too much.
Squinty sleepy eyes finally look back at him, a mischievous little grin spreading on her lips as she giggles and lifts her blanket up to her face again, hiding underneath, "ah! are we suddenly playing hide and seek now?", Han plays along, tickling her first and then squatting down on the floor so when Daisy removed the blanket she only sees the top of his head.
They play like that back and forth for a few minutes, at least until the little girl starts yawning more frequently and Han recognizes the heavy eyelids falling upon her eyes, "time to go back to sleep", he says sweetly, already adjusting the blankets and tucking her in, "appa is really really proud of you, you are such a good little helper and an amazing older sister to Nari, I love you so much".
Daisy smiles sleepily and cuddles Quokki to her chest, bleary eyes hardly open right now, "I love you dadda", she says in her tiny quiet voice, her father melting entirely. He kissess the top of her head and pats Quokki once, his knees straining with effort when he finally stands up straight again, "I love you more. Sweet dreams baby, sweet dreams Quokki".

I Love You, I'm Sorry: Viktor x Reader
Based off of this reply on my last Viktor fic:
@lillycore : Duddee, imagine after the final scene between Viktor and Jayce they just disappear (I refuse to believe they both died, Iâm just going believe, until itâs confirmed, that they simply teleported somewhere else), leaving reader alone without a chance to confront Viktor and believing they both died. So now, reader is left to pick up the pieces of her closest friend and love of her life gone, while believing Viktor no longer loves her (he does though, he was just a little confused with everything, but he still loves her)
Words: 1.2k
Author's Notes: Thank you all so much for the notes and kind words on my last Viktor fic, it truly means the world to me as a writer to see so many people touched by my writing. I hope you enjoy this equally devastating part 2.
Theyâre gone. Theyâre really gone.
No family, no friends, not a single loved one of yours survived this damn war. All this world has done is take, take, take.
Youâre haunted by the last time you saw your beloved Viktorâcompletely unrecognizable. He had turned himself into a monster, disappearing with Jayce trying to save him. You didnât even get to say goodbye, you didnât even get to tell him you still love him.
Or ask if he still loved you.
You donât know what would hurt less, believing he stopped loving you, or believing he did everything he did while loving you.
-
âWhy canât she hear me?â Viktor shouts into the void. Heâs been calling your name for what feels like an eternity, his voice no longer carrying to your world.
Jayce puts a comforting hand on his shoulder, âYou donât have vessels to speak through anymore. She probably thinks weâre dead. Well, maybe we areâŚâ
âNo, no, this canât be the end,â Viktor shakes his head vigorously. âI have to get back to her. She...she needs to know I love her. She needs to know Iâm sorry.â
He falls to his knees amongst the stars, cursing himself for everything. How could he choose the hexcore over you? Why didnât he seek you out when he survived the explosion? How did he let himself descend so far into madness that he forgot about your importance to him?
Heâs now desperate for you to hear him, pleading the forces that bind his consciousness to this astral plane for another chance. He searches this dimension heâs come to know so well, looking for a loophole or tear in the fabric, but itâs no use. Everything has been closedâhis supposed eternal consequence for his abuse of power.
Jayce saved him from himself, a feat he will forever be indebted to him for, but what is the point of redemption if he cannot live it out in his own flesh?
Would there have been a body left for him anyway? Would you still have loved him as the monstrosity he became?
Why must he still be cursed with the full vision of the universe? He sees you continue your life so clearly, but he canât touch you, canât speak to you. Your form shines the brightest light heâs ever seem in this dimension, an achievement that is not easily matched. He wonders if you can feel him reaching out to you, some sort of spiritual pull back to him. He will do anything to find a way to talk to you again.
-
Youâve been having dreamsâdreams you canât explain. Ever since Viktorâs disappearance, heâs tormented you day and night, constantly occupying your thoughts without mercy. You can hear his voice, but it sounds so far away you can never make out the words. You just wish it would all stop. You wish you could just erase him and all of the pain from your memory.
Sometimes you still feel a presence, the feeling you used to feel when he was in the same vicinity with you, admiring you from across a room. Itâs a familiar warmth that used to wash you with peace, whereas now it makes your heart ache. You suppose itâs a normal symptom of grief, subconsciously denying that heâs really gone.
You start to go through his things he left at your house, beginning with his various textbooks and notebooks he would bring over for studying. Seeing his scribbles and handwriting again brings tears to your eyes, a single drop falling onto the paper as you read.
You blink a few times, seeing a couple of letters on the page start to glow. You must be seeing things, hallucinating from sleep deprivation. You close the journal and open it again, but the glowing letters are still there.
You grab a separate piece of paper and write down each glowing letter, finding fifteen total.
âI - L-O-V-E - Y-O-U - I-M - S-O-R-R-Yâ
This isnât happening. It canât be.
-
âItâs working! She got my message!â Viktor exclaims.
âHow...how are you doing that?â Jayce asks.
âTiny rips in spaceânot big enough for either of us to escape throughâbut certainly big enough to briefly touch that reality,â Viktor pauses, still waiting for a response from you, but it doesnât come.
-
You close the journal and sob, praying for an end to this misery. Your mind is playing tricks on you, deceiving you to a level you never thought possible. Must you be haunted by this forever? Must you endure the aftermath of this trauma?
You open it once again, the letters still glowing, but they start to fade right in front of your eyes. A new set of letters begin to glow, so you write those down as well.
âI-T-S - M-E - D-A-R-L-I-N-Gâ
And then another set of letters.
âP-L-E-A-S-E - T-A-L-K - T-O - M-Eâ
Maybe youâre not imagining.
Youâve heard of magicians who can converse with the dead, and the possibility of other dimensional planes and universes. Viktor himself had some theories about it, although he never pursued proving them. Could it really be possible that your beloved was speaking to you?
âViktor?â you say out loud. âAre you...are you alive?â
âI - D-O-N-T - K-N-O-Wâ
The pencil drops from your hand again as your head falls to the table. His consciousness is somehow alive, clearly, but thereâs no way he can explain to you where he is and how to get him out one letter at a time. Youâre nowhere near his level of intellectâeven if he explained how to rescue him like youâre five years oldâyou fear you still would mess something up.
âViktor...I canât do this. You canât do this to me,â you sigh, daring to look at the words again. âYou abandoned me, and now my life is a living hell because of the destruction you helped cause. I want nothing to do with your war and stupid glorious evolution. So if youâre not here to take me away from this life, please go away.â
The same original words start glowing again, brighter each time they sequence:
I love you, Iâm sorry.
I love you, Iâm sorry.
I love you, Iâm sorry.
âLove doesnât do what you did. Love doesnât abandon its humanity for power.â
Please forgive me.
âI do forgive you for everything, Viktor. Thatâs exactly why I need to forget about you, because I will never stop loving you and hurting for it if I donât.â
With blurry eyes, you close the journal and throw it into the fireplace, regretting it almost immediately. You grab a stick and pull it out, your tears falling onto the soot-stained cover.
âPlease, just...find a way back to me.â
I will.

for anyone in need of a little bit of angst, here's a snippet of the conversation between lucanis and viago after crow!rook gets stuck in fade jail :)
Lucanis strides into the Cantori Diamond looking like death.
The casino is bustling with activity as usual. The movement of people, the clinking of glasses, the sound of coins exchanging hands. It almost makes it seem like any other day. Lucanis knows itâs not. He had never enjoyed places like this â not the way Illario did â and even being on the top floor of the casino, above all that noise didnât make him any more comfortable. Still, he had always found the time to greet some of the other Crows wandering about the room, even if it was just a quick nod. Now, fledglings flinch away as he walks past them not paying them any mind.
Teia sees him approach from the other corner of the room, and something in her posture seems to relax. âThank the Maker!â she exclaims, running to meet him. âWhat in Andrasteâs name happened, Lucanis? You sent word you were all going to an island to stop some ritual and then we didnât hear from you in days!â she frowns, âand after the things weâve been hearing from Minrathousââ
Lucanis can feel her anxious gaze on him, waiting for a response but he has no words for her. He closes his eyes, chest roaring with pain. Joder. Caterinaâs training hadnât prepared him for this. All his life he had measured suffering in broken bones and stab wounds. Now his heart is faced with a loss so devastating it reverberates through his entire being.
âLucanis?â Teia calls softly, almost startling him.
âGhilanânainâs been slainâ he manages to say at last. The only good news he has to offer. She makes a sound of surprise, turns to look at Viago only to find him already looking at them. Thereâs a dangerous glint in his eyes as he stares at Lucanis.
âWhereâs Rook?â he asks, voice deceptively calm.
Lucanis goes still, grief and pain wreaking havoc inside of him. He doesnât know what expression is reflected on his face but it must be enough to convey what his words cannot because Viago takes a step back. âNo,â he says and thereâs a sharpness in his tone, a denial that Lucanis knows all too well. âNoâ he repeats, turning his back and leaning his hands on the table for support.
Teia stares at them, horrified, âHowââ
Spite growls. He tricked her! He took her away from us!
Lucanis can feel the demonâs anger like a mirror to his own, a painful, angry thing wanting to be let out and ravage the entire room. And yet when he speaks the words are deadly soft. âThe Dread Wolf betrayed us, betrayed herâ The words are a new kind of pain. He pauses, hoping that if he doesnât breathe too deeply he wonât feel the hollow echo of his empty chest. âHe trapped her in the Fadeâ
Viago turns abruptly. He doesnât make any move to strike, but thereâs a cold violence to his gaze, like the silent swish of a blade right before it draws blood. They stare at each other for a moment, neither of them moving. Then Viago's face changes, hard blankness breaking for a moment to reveal the feelings beneath. Loathing.

đŞđ´đ˘đ˘đ¤ đđ˘đŠđŚđş đŽđ˘đ´đľđŚđłđđŞđ´đľ
You made eye contact with Isaacâs cerulean eyes as his breath ghosted your bare stomach, making goosebumps rise against your heated skin as he sunk in between your open legs. You let out a shaky breath as you tipped your head back into the plush pillows, breaking the intense gaze between you and Isaac.Â
You donât know how you got to this position. Well, you do, but you never thought in a million years that this would be happening. Having Isaac in between your thighs only happened in your dreams and imagination when you had the apartment to yourself and wanted to work off some steam in your room, your vibrator on the highest setting as it worked over your sensitive and swollen clit.Â
You had the biggest crush on Isaac since you met the scrawny kid in freshman year back at Beacon, since before you were pulled into the supernatural mess with Scott and eventually Isaac himself. But you hid it well. At least, you thought you did until Lydia cornered you one day and confronted you about your crush on him.Â
You shrugged it off, of course, denying that you had liked him at all and that he was only your best friend, but Lydia was smarter than that, having caught you looking at him longingly as he stared at Allison.Â
When Allison and Isaac got together, it hurt a lot. The pain of having the guy you liked start dating one of your best friends was one you wouldnât wish on anyone. But you played it off and only teased Allison about the irony of being a hunter and being into werewolves. She laughed it off, but Lydia could see the pain in your eyes every time Isaac mentioned her or you saw the two of them close to one another.Â
So when Allison died, you felt conflicted. Half of you was devastated that one of your best friends was gone, forever. But the other half was relieved that she was. You felt so guilty that you felt that way about Allison but kept it to yourself, internalizing it and locking away the information for life.Â
You knew the toll that Allisonâs death took on Isaac, but you guys still had the nogitsune to deal with. Once that was taken care of and you tried to talk to him about what happened with everything that had happened in the past year, he was gone. He fled to France with Allisonâs dad. The pack didnât know if he was going to come back, so you decided to swallow the devastation that flooded your veins at the thought of your best friend not coming back and moving on.Â
But as the new year started and moving into your second semester of junior year, your eyes met a familiar pair of cerulean ones in the crowded hallways of Beacon Hills High. You felt your heart race at the fact that Isaac came back.Â
From then on, you never really moved on from him. You tried, but he was always stuck in the back of your mind. Even throughout the craziness of the following year and a half of high school, the two of you stuck by each other and with the pack.Â
After high school, you and some of the pack members went to the nearest college and decided to live in the same apartment complex. Stiles, Scott, and Isaac lucked out and got a bigger unit than you and Lydia did, but it didnât matter since they usually came over to your place since it was âcozier.â You scoffed at them because they didnât bother to furnish their apartment as well as you and Lydia did.Â
âHey.â Isaac called out your name softly, making you snap out of your reverie and look back down at him. His warm hands were settled on your thighs as his chin rested on your stomach and his gaze intently staring at you.Â
Isaacâs were slightly swollen and pinker than usual from the heated make-out session that had started out of nowhere; well, it didnât start out of nowhere.Â
It was a Saturday night, and you didnât feel like going out with the rest of the pack, so you decided to stay in and relax. You had expected Isaac to go with them, but to your surprise, he stayed with you.Â
It was slightly awkward at first. The two of you hadnât hung out for a while without the rest of the pack hovering around you since he came back from France. Itâs not like you actively avoided spending one-on-one time, but you guys drifted apart when he came back, and the active threats to Beacon Hills didnât help with the space between the two of you.Â
You tried not to show that you were nervous around him, knowing he could hear if your heartbeat was erratic or not. You had planned to watch a movie in your room, so you invited him and joked that it would be like when we used to before he became a werewolf and hid in your room for a couple of hours before he had to go back to his place.Â
The smile Isaac gave you at your invite had destroyed the plan of masking your fondness for him, feeling your heartbeat slightly faster at the sight of it.Â
You sat next to Isaac when you finished setting up the movie, the two of you resting against your headboard, shoulders brushing against each other as the two of you settled in your queen-sized bed.Â
You kept your eyes trained on the TV, the opening sequence of Iron Man flicking through the LCD screen. But Isaac couldnât keep his eyes off of you, taking in your features being illuminated by the dim lighting of the fairy lights you hung around your room. He smiled, remembering your dislike for overhead lighting and preference for mood lighting.Â
You took a chance, glancing at Isaac and finding that his gaze was already on you. You turned your head slightly to meet his eyes.Â
âWhat?â You murmured.Â
Isaac raised his hand hesitantly, brushing a wayward hair from your face, tucking it behind your ear before resting his palm against your cheek. You almost shivered at the soft caress of his thumb against the apple of your cheek.Â
âNothing.â Isaac said with a half smile on his face, slowly inching his face closer to you.Â
You raised an eyebrow at him, trying to be unphased by his touch. âReally? Because youâre not watching the movie.âÂ
âYou know I donât care for Marvel.â Isaac smirked.Â
âThen why do you sit through the movies with me?âÂ
âBecause you like them.â Isaac stated as if it was obvious while shrugging.Â
You looked at him dumbly, your mouth slightly agape. Isaac chuckled lowly before he moved his hand from your cheek to the nape of your neck and rested his forehead against yours.Â
Your eyes fluttered shut involuntarily as you felt his breath fan against your lips.Â
âCan I kiss you?â Isaac whispered.Â
Instead of giving him a verbal answer, you placed your lips against his, drawing him into a soft kiss. It was a short and sweet kiss, but it contrasted how your body filled with heat at the feeling of his plush lips against yours.Â
Both of you pulled away, your eyes meeting for a brief moment before your lips collided once more. The kiss was filled with passion and all of the unsaid emotions that you guys had yet to admit to one another.Â
Your body had a mind of its own as your lips moved against Isaacâs. You moved to straddle his lap as your hands dived into his blonde curls while his hands made their way to your hips, guiding you to his lap. The warmth of his hands seeped through the fabric of the sweatpants you were wearing.Â
You felt Isaacâs tongue swipe at the seam of your lips, a silent request that you accepted. You moaned softly at the feeling of Isaacâs tongue softly intertwining against yours. You unconsciously ground your heated core against the growing bulge in his jeans. Isaac let out a low hiss, making the two of you pull apart from one another, a string of spit connecting the two of you before it broke.Â
You couldnât help but the giddy smile that broke out on your face, your stomach flipping at the sight of Isaacâs wide grin as his hands moved from your hips to the hem of the shirt you were wearing.Â
He tugged on it slightly, the unsaid question written in Isaacâs eyes. You nodded, and he slowly pulled it off of you, exposing your bare chest to him. You saw his gaze widen slightly, and you let out a small giggle at his reaction.Â
Isaac smiled wider at the sound of your small laugh, his heart swelling with love, and he laughed a bit when he felt you tug at his own shirt. He leaned up from the headboard and shed his own shirt, your palms settling against his chest once the offending item of clothing was flung across the room.Â
Isaac had a sly smile on his face, and before you could question him, you let out a small yelp as he used his werewolf strength and agility to put you on your back. He hovered over you before he drew you into a kiss that left you breathless. But it only lasted for a moment before Isaac trailed his lips down your jaw. He nipped and kissed at the skin of your neck before moving down your collarbone and towards your breasts.Â
Isaac left teasing kisses in the valley of your chest as his hands moved from your sides and to the waistband of your sweatpants.Â
He looked up at you, his breath fanning over the slightly wet skin of your chest. âCan I take these off baby?âÂ
You felt yourself melt at the softness of his tone and the pet name. âYeah.â You gave him a gentle smile.Â
Instead of responding, Isaac left a tender kiss next to where your heart was and slowly pulled down your sweatpants. As every new inch of you was exposed, Isaac kissed the skin as if it was fragile. You couldnât help but the lump that grew in your throat at how tender Isaac was being.Â
Isaac called your name again. He was looking down at you, chin no longer resting on your stomach. Isaac was hovering over you again, his eyebrows furrowed in concern. âYou alright? We donât have to keep going if you donât want to.âÂ
âMâfine.âÂ
âYou sure?âÂ
You hesitated, biting your bottom lip. âJust-â You inhaled sharply. âI donât know if this is going to be a one time thing.âÂ
Isaac shook his head. âTrust me, it isnât for me. Is it for you?â He asked, nerves coloring his tone.Â
âNo!â You almost shouted before you cringed at your volume and cleared your throat. âNo, Iâve been embarrassingly in love with you for a long time.â You admitted sheepishly.Â
The grin that was on Isaacâs face was blinding. He kissed you hard before pulling back. âThank god.â He breathed out, relieved. âIâve felt the same way for a long time. Ever since I came back to Beacon.âÂ
You didnât have any words to respond with, so you put your hands on his cheeks and kissed him, pouring all of the love and adoration you had for him over the years into it. Isaac couldnât help but smile into the kiss before he deepened the kiss and blanketed your body with his, his bulge grinding against your clothed cunt.Â
You moaned at the feeling of his denim-clad bulge brushing against your heated cunt, your underwear almost soaked through as the two of you made out. Isaac broke the kiss and eventually made his way back in between your legs, his heated stare directed at the wet patch in your panties.Â
He threw your legs over your shoulder as his face drew closer to your cunt, leaving feather-light kisses on your inner thighs. You could feel yourself clenching around nothing in anticipation. Isaac started to kiss you lightly through the wet fabric, making you moan softly.Â
âShit, youâre so wet.â He breathed out before taking one of his hands and pulling your underwear to the side, exposing your soaked core to him.Â
You could see the hunger in his eyes as he stared at your cunt. âFuck, youâre so pretty.â Isaac praised, and you clenched at his words, biting your lip in hopes of keeping the whine that threatened to escape your mouth.Â
Isaac couldnât help but smirk at your reaction, but instead of teasing you, wanting to save it for next time, he leaned forward and pressed a sloppy kiss to your clit, and your hands went to fist at your comforter.Â
A breathy moan left the confines of your throat, and Isaac licked a strip from your slit to your sensitive nub, collected the slick leaking from you, and swirled his warm tongue around your clit. He drew it into his mouth, sucking on it softly.Â
One of your hands left the mattress to clutch at his hair, a low moan emanating from the boy in between your legs. The noise sends vibrations to your cunt and fills your veins with pleasure. Your cries and whines filled the room as Isaac ate you out like a man starved. You had barely registered that the bed was moving slightly due to Isaac rutting against the mattress and that he had ripped your panties off of you and completely dove into you, his tongue deep in you as he thumbed at your clit, wanting to wring out as much pleasure from you as possible.Â
âOh fu-uck.â Both of your hands were in his hair at this point. âShit, Isaac.â You could barely form words between your moaning, the heat in your core building rapidly at his ministrations.Â
Isaac smirked internally and moved his mouth to suck at your clit as he inserted a finger in you, the tugging at his hair and your moans spurring him on to try and make you cum.Â
âIsaac.â You whined at the feeling of your cunt finally being filled.Â
He quickly added a second finger, slowly thrusting in and out of your slick cunt. âYeah, baby?â Isaac asked, pulling away for a moment, kissing your inner thigh, and tilting his head to look up at you. He could stare at your blissed-out face forever, it being the second most beautiful thing heâs ever seen from you (the first one being your smile).Â
âI-i need to- fuck!â A choked moan leaves your lips as Isaacâs fingers brush against your g-spot.Â
Isaac grinned. âNeed what? You gotta tell me what you want sweetheart.âÂ
Through the haze of lust, you could hear the teasing tone of his words, but you didnât care. âPlease, let me cum.âÂ
âThere you go, pretty girl.â Isaac began to pump his fingers harder, making sure to hit your g-spot with every thrust, and latched onto your swollen nub again.Â
âFuck!â You felt the knot in your core threatening to snap. You were practically writhing in your bed, sweat coating your body as Isaac continued to finger you.Â
âIâm-Iâm-âÂ
âLet go sweetheart.â Isaac mumbled into your folds before pressing hard against your g-spot and sucking your clit hard.Â
The knot snapped, and a keening whine left your lips. Your warm walls clenched against Isaacâs fingers. His fingers slowed, working you through your orgasm until it subsided. He pulled his fingers out of you gently, mindful of your tender cunt. He peppered small kisses on your thighs, trailing up your body, waiting for you to come down from your intense high.Â
You felt Isaac shift, resting next to you, and his hand brushed away the hairs that were stuck to your slightly damp forehead. You opened your eyes to find Isaac looking down at you with a gentle but shy smile on his face.Â
You couldnât help the quiet laugh that escaped your lips at how bashful Isaac was being and placed a hand on his cheek and pulled him down for a kiss, uncaring if you could taste yourself on him.Â
Your lips melded with his, and you felt like you could kiss him forever; his lips were soft and warm against yours. Before you knew it, the kiss grew heated again. Isaacâs jeans were soon discarded, and his deep groans joined the chorus of moans that left you and filled your room as the two of you drew pleasure from each other.
Wolf whistles and clapping were your wake-up call the following day, your friends loitering outside of your room as they saw you and Isaac wrapped up in one another underneath your sheets.Â

More Than Enough
Prequel to Thatâs Enough
Summary: An ambassador visiting your court tries to assert himself over Feyd, who canât quite help himself.
Pairings: Feyd-Rautha x f!Reader
Word Count: 869
Warnings: MDNI, graphic mention of sex, public humiliation??
A/N: I wrote Thatâs Enough first, but hopefully this coincides with itđ My (Thanksgiving) gift to you
While there are plenty of benefits to being the na-Baroness, not excluding the na-Baron himself, you despise certain aspects of it. Especially when power hungry, selfish men and women from the other Noble houses take residence in your court. You canât even decline them without fear of inciting some argument, so they tell you that theyâre going to visit and you have to accept them with open arms.
Youâre especially irritated tonight. An ambassador from a far away planet is your current, unwanted guest and Feyd insists on a feast to welcome him.
It was all just a dance, a show, put on to demonstrate your wealth and power.
âItâs important that heâs impressed,â Feyd had said earlier as he zipped up the back of your dress. âA majority of our weapon exports goes to him.â
It made sense, too. The ambassador, Talmage, was a large, robust man, reminiscence of the Baron. He spoke loudly like he thought everything he said was of utmost importance, though every word that he shouted made you grind your teeth. Too grandiose, too proud, too infuriating.
âCanât we just kill him?â You whisper to Feyd, leaning to whisper in his ear.
His gaze never strays from Talmage, whoâs rambling incessantly, but you see a flicker of amusement on his face. Feyd taps his fingers on your thigh. âNot now.â
âLater?â
He glances at you. âNo.â
âI hate him,â you whisper furiously, âhow long did you say he was staying here?â
âTill the end of the week.â
In reply, you groan and snatch up your wine glass. His soft, stifled chuckles dance up your spine as you gulp down the rest of your drink.
Feydâs fingers make circles on your thighs now. âJust think,â he says, mouth on the shell of your ear, âIâll spoil you with all of the profits we make.â
âYou know material things mean little to me.â
âBut you look so pretty in them. And without.â
You give his shoulder a playful shove. Talmage must catch this interaction because he laughs boisterously, face flushed with drink and glee. âAh, young love.â
âIsnât she devastating?â Feyd asks.
âCertainly. How you let her out of your sight, or your bedroom, I donât know,â Talmage says, giggling like heâs made a particularly funny joke.
Feyd lowers his chin slightly. You recognize this as a warning but Talmage, either too drunk or too stupid, carries on anyway. âYou must not get very much done around here, na-Baron.â
âIâm quiteâŚdexterous,â Feyd replies.
Talmage grins. âAre you generous, as well?â
You stiffen. Itâs one thing to play the part as the quiet, dutiful wife â you couldnât care less how this ambassador perceives you â but you donât tolerate the notion of being passed around.
âSheâs treated quite well, I assure you,â Feyd says.
âYou are young, and handsome,â Talmage says, âbut I have remarkable more experience.â He looks pointedly at you then.
You open your mouth to reply, but Feyd beats you to it. His smile is lazy, arm falling behind your chair in a move thatâs both casual and possessive. âI admire your boldness, Ambassador.â
âAh, you deny your guest some amusement?â
âFeyd,â you breathe.
Arm still draped over your chair, he squeezes your shoulder, a silent acknowledgement. âMy wifeâs amusement is my only concern.â
âThen indulge her,â Talmage says.
âIndulge her.â Feyd smiles, a predator baring his teeth. âLet me tell you something, ambassador. Iâve amassed more wealth for the Harkonnen name than any of my predecessors. Iâve garnered respect from all of my soldiers. Iâve bested every man thatâs challenged me in a duel, and,â his eyes flash dangerously, âI know how to fuck my wife.â
You nearly drop the glass of wine youâve been holding onto for dear life.
âI meant no offense, na-Baron,â the ambassador stammers out, suddenly aware of exactly who he was toying with.
You swiftly kick Feydâs calf with the toe of your shoe. He doesnât even flinch, though you exerted quite a bit of force behind the endeavor. Your husband leans forward.
âI fuck her until she doesnât know anyoneâs name but mine, until sheâs weeping with my cum. I bend her over our bed and fuck into that sweet, tight cunt. Ambassador, you could only dream of a woman so wet for you, keening and begging for your cock. No amount of experience,â he spits this word out bitterly, âcompares to how I fuck my wife until sheâs spent and satisfied. You can trust that itâs more than enough.â
You squeeze your thighs together, torn between anger and desire. While you usually love it when Feyd gets this way â impassioned, unhinged â you donât appreciate him describing your fucking to the ambassador and to all of the members of the court at the dinner table. You clear your throat, cheeks warm.
âExcuse me,â you mutter, taking the napkin from your lap and dropping it on the table.
Feyd is still too enraged to convince you to stay, trembling with restraint. You slip out of his grip and, avoiding the wide eyes of the courtiers, stride with as much dignity as you can manage out of the feast hall.
He would pay for this.

Fix It Fic (how many of these are there by now?)
I was so irked by Meljay's ending that I had to write them a new one. It isn't a fanservicey, perfect endgame, it's still a breakup of sorts, but to me it feels sweeter and more in character, and holds both characters accountable without the judgy bullshit Jayce pulled. Read the first scene as starting directly after Jayce says "It doesn't matter" and the second scene ending with their passenger exchange, which I still think is mostly fine writing wise. They aren't long because dialogue exchanges in this show tend to be short, and I want it to fit.
Scene 1
"It was you, wasn't it? You saved my life the night of the bombing."
She only looks at him, her silence the answer he needs.
"I wasn't worth it." he says
"Don't say things like that."
They go to each other in three long strides each, and he cups one large hand around her shoulder and another along her cheek, shuddering quietly at the feel of her. It's been so long and they've both changed so much, there's something fearsome in laying his hands on her now. And yet he doesn't let go, the width and sadness of her eyes won't let him.
"Where did you go?" he says.
She forces a weak smile "Never mind all that"
"No, tell me."
She reaches up to lift his hands away, and takes a step back. "I was taken. there were things I needed to learn about myself. Even if the learning was rather painful."
He understands. It was painful for the both of them. "Yeah, I think I know what you mean."
[enter Viktor *blam blam*]
Scene 2
They sit on the floor, near the big windows, shoulder to shoulder like waiting children. The silence is thick and overwhelming. Being near her doesn't bring him the same peace that it used to, but he knows it's simply because nothing can. Not after the things he's seen. Still, she's Mel, the one who always let him be close when he needed it, he wont deny her that now. She too is haunted by something he can never see or confront, what else is there to do but be next to her?
"We did the wrong thing Mel, Hextech... it was the wrong thing. I know that now," he says, his own voice sounding strange to him. He knows this isn't the time to bring this up, not with the way she's hurting, but he can't help the words that escape his lips.
"But we can make it right, maybe that's why we're still here," Mel says, the hope in her voice as true as it is devastating.
"I don't think there is any making it right. We did what we did. We hurt people... I hurt people. I can't make that go away."
"But we can do something," she says, more forcefully. "We can always do something."
He reaches for her hand, clasping it with his gloved one. He knows what he needs to do, but he wont say it, he can't bring himself to tell her that these may be the last moments they have left. Because he can do something, he will do something. But that something will be the end of him, he knows it somehow.
"You only ever wanted to do good. And I know you still can."
He leaves it there, hoping against hope that she doesn't ask what about him? They trade a glance, full of bittersweetness and the love they share that won't die even as the rest of him does.
She lays her head on his shoulder, resigned, quiet. War looms all around them and inside them, but not in this moment. Not here.
#meljay#this is canon now because i said so#arcane#arcane league of legends#mel medarda#jayce talis#meljay nation never asked for much just basic respect and decency#no matter who you ship you have to admit the actual scene did nothing but make jayce wildly unlikable#and i hate not liking jayce heâs been my problematic king from day one

omg omg i was reading through the posts for high school reunion and shmi???? sending anakin the books??? but because he is oblivious he doesnt suspect and his children enjoy them so much and oh oh you broke my heart for the 367485th time today pls i want shmi to just hold obi-wan he's so alone pls let him a little parental help he's so sad
Shmi and obi-wanâs relationship in the hs reunion au is so special to me tbh like. She basically watches him grow up and really believes that he will be her son in law one day because her actual son is head over heels with this boy who is just as head over heels with him, so she basically has a second son now and sheâs so ok with that
only for her son to become absolutely heartbroken and devastated within the span of like? hardly even an afternoon. she hears her sonâs boyfriend leave the house early so she goes to see how the study session went only to find her son sobbing on his bed đĽş
I think watching anakin recover from that and caring for him for the next few years is what informs her anger at obi-wan in the Christmas fic for hs reunion, where she very much wants to make him hurt the way sheâs been watching her son hurt
but then over the course of the next five years before she dies, she really sees whatâs happening to obi-wan too. I imagine she does figure it all out, either because qui-gon tells her heâs sick, obi-wan breaks down and confesses to it, or she just connects all the dots because obi-wan doesnât leave to go to university which had been the main reason anakin said he broke up with him
and Anakin is objectively doing better now as far as she knows and he seems mostly over obi-wan and Shmi looks at obi-wan one day and realizes how much he needs a parent and specifically a mom and itâs really natural to forgive him for the hurt heâs caused after that. after all, she spent years thinking of him as her son too
#asks#obikin#hs reunion au#so she starts pretty mad and then their relationship does get better#obi-wan is very good at being sorta pathetic it was bound to happen#and she doesnât really send obi-wans childrenâs book to anakin as a matchmaking scheme#(well only sorta)#she mostly sends it cause she thinks if they bury the hatchet theyâd both be better off

I finished The Quarry! 8 hours for my first playthrough and I got 18/40 achievements along the way. To 100% it will require a few more total playthroughs (some of the achievements are blocked by getting others, so need their own playthrough) but I'm looking forward to seeing the other ways that everything can work out!
I made a few decisions that resulted in me completely not getting the results I expected, lol.
SPOILERS, if anybody cares đ
I saved Laura and cured her of the werewolf infection but apparently didn't have as good a relationship with Travis as I thought I did so he locked her up at the end.
I cured Max but got him killed by Werewolf Caleb by trying to swim to land. 𫤠Emma was killed by Werewolf Max and was the first to die. I let Ryan bleed to death rather than become a werewolf because I honestly thought he was going to be revealed as bad. I thought he had deliberately hung up on calling 911 early in the game and lied about it, which was a clue to his true nature. Instead, oops, the phone really had been cut right then? Sorry, dude. đ¤ˇââď¸
Werewolf Nick killed Jacob in the cages because at that point I thought I was inevitably going to get everybody killed and figured I might as well go for that achievement. So I let Jacob be killed and then eventually realized I had too many infected werewolves by that time and they don't die so... oops. Killed you for nothing, Jacob, my bad. đŤ¤đ I accidentally got Kaitlyn killed by failing the shooting QTE and I guess that was Werewolf Caleb who killed her? (Or was it Werewolf Silas? I dunno, doesn't matter, my girl was werewolf chow and that made me so sad. đ)
Dylan and Nick survived as werewolves. Abigail, Laura and Travis all survived as humans. Everybody else â ď¸
Characters I came to love by the end:
Dylan
I thought he was going to be the sorta stereotypical wisecracking annoying guy the whole way through and instead you discover he has a heart beneath all of the wisecracks. I love him, your honor! đ
Kaitlyn
Very similar to Dylan, she proved to have a lot more heart than I expected. I started playing her with her most sympathetic options and wow, my opinion on her completely changed from the initial one. I love her, your honor! đ
Laura
My badass queen, right here. Love, love, looooove her! I knew we'd see her again in the game at some point after the start and she did NOT disappoint. I seriously wanted the ending where she and Travis work together as well as her getting to meet Max again after he was cured. Definitely going to try for that next! đ
Max
I had a lot of sympathy for Max. He didn't want to disappoint Laura, he was devastated when he realized he had hurt her after turning werewolf the first time, and he generally was just trying to be a good guy going through some terrible circumstances. Love him and I love him with Laura. đ
Travis
Yeahhh, it's Ted Raimi. I'ma love him no matter what, lol. And yep, I can quite easily get aboard the Laura x Travis ship right along side the Laura x Max one. I contain multitudes, what can I tell you? đđ
I was worried about the level of blood/gore and found it to be not nearly as graphic as I thought it might be. Granted, you get a lot of people ending up splattered in blood so if that's not your thing, be wary of that. The werewolf kills/attacks weren't as graphic as I thought they might've been, so that was good (Kaitlyn's was the worst but at least it wasn't all in-your-face torture p0rn or the like; I just hated it because I didn't want her to die đđđ). Of course, everybody's tolerance for things like that can be different AND there might be more graphic attacks that I just didn't encounter in this playthrough.
Also, the werewolf transformation scenes were some of the most interesting, if, um, wet đthat I've ever seen. Basically, the werewolf bursts out of the human. I also thought the werewolf design was unique, though they kinda looked like very angry hairless cats to me, lol. đ¤ˇââď¸đ
Something also worth mentioning is the fact that you can't manually save, it only auto-saves at certain points. The game is very insistent that you can't go back and change your mind on your choices in your first playthrough. After finishing it, you get the option to do 3 "death rewinds" in subsequent playthroughs, where you can get the option to try to undo a character death.
Since I'm somebody who can get stressed out by feeling like I don't want to make a mistake... I had to get over that right away. You also get chapter selects after you finish the first game, so I'm hoping to be able to be able to utilize those 2 mechanics to be able to get all of the achievements I want without having to keep restarting the game over and over. Maybe not everyone will be bothered by that but I thought I should mention it, just in case.
Once I got past my "But what if I'm making the wrong choice???" fears (hint: I probably was, lol), I appreciated having to just stick to the consequences and see it through. đ
So, in summary: I found this to be a lot of fun to play, there seems to be a TON of outcomes that you can get, I still suck at Quicktime events but am a little better than at the start, and I'm looking forward to playing through again several more times! đđ

Huntlow situationship gives me such intense brain termites you don't get it
#no i dont think its because Hunter needs time to heal first#i think if it was up to Hunter they would plunge into a committed romantic relationship immediately after the events of the finale#he would propose to her in like. 3 months probably#i know that sounds intense but i think this is what ''i literally died and came back to life'' mania does to a guy#he is so carpe diem minded hes become a little insane. he wants everything#no more waiting around. no more hesitating. he cant afford to do that anymore#would it have been the wise decision to enter a romantic relationship immediately#who's to say. but Hunter would have done it without thinking about it#its Willow that makes the decision to slow down and wait a while before they make any committments theyre not ready for#i dont think she's entirely learned her lesson about letting herself be emotionally reliant every once in a while#shes made progress but the events of ftf were such heat of the moment responses#once things are semi-stable she still needs to adapt to acknowledging that her feelings for Hunter are like. serious. and scarily intense#so like. yea Willow is slamming her pedals on the breaks for both their sakes. shes thinking about how this would effect Hunter too#but also. she scawwed.#when Willow tells him she wants to talk and she's like ''i think we should just be friends'' oh the face he makes is DEVASTATED#he didnt expect it was going in this direction at all. but like. once Willow explains how this is the most reasonable decision for now#he DOES agree. he understands what shes saying and he agrees that it's the best decision to take a breather before they jump into a romance#anyway even when theyre not officially dating the flirting continues insistently. they are very obsessed with each other and cant stop#Willow keeps trying to insist to herself that its just messing around. nothing serious. they find each other hot. its fine to kiss a little#but Hunter makes it very hard when he looks at her with big brown labrador eyes. looks at her like shes the entire world#i think if it was up to Willow they would have been trapped in that uncertain limbo forever. shes too scared to take the plunge#even if she wants to. she badly wants to#but Hunter just wont let that happen. every so often he says ''im ready whenever you are''#he makes his intentions very known. he is not the shy boy from Camila's house anymore#Willow cant just playfully flirt with him without worrying that hes gonna reciprocate. he talks now. he expresses himself#shes a little afraid of that. but she adores it too. he makes her feel safe but also he wont let her stay in this comfort zone#hes giving her the push she needs to pursue this relationship. gives her to push to feel like she can go after what she wants#because god knows HE knows what he wants#they make me so insane

she's listening to him intently as he spoke about what his life was like. about what he did. about who was after him. as well as who had just taken her due to the fact that she was merely with him. just being close to noah was enough for them to target her. it made her sick at her stomach, the fact that she was someone that was making his life somewhat hard. she loves noah, she loves him with her entire heart. but how will she ever understand just what he's going through. kayla wanted to understand, maybe help him. wanted to assist him in keeping both herself and him safe ... if he'd let her. though she knew it was a low probability.
his soft hand comes to brush hair from her face and she looks devastated, not knowing what to think. "but i love you ... " kayla says to him while he looked away, knowing that he must have been having a hard time telling her this. but she's glad to hear his truth. after she had trusted him all of these months. She, however, didn't mind his lies. maybe the fact that she was dating a dangerous man who was in a dangerous life, yet he was always so kind to her. always such a gentleman, always cared for her like she needed to be cared for.
his rough voice made her look up at him, examining his face with worried eyes. "what do you mean we won't see each other again?" kayla's eyes filled with tears though she tried her hardest to choke them back not wanting to upset him. his voice different now, cold ... something she didn't like. feeling uncharacteristic to how he has always treated her. his words made the tears flow freely then.
"i don't care ... " she muttered to him. "I want to be with you. i love you!" kayla, frustrated, she sat up a bit to look at him straight in the face. "i don't have much, you know that! all i really want to have is you." she's louder than she should be as tears flow freely down her cheeks.
noah felt her warmth against him, her small frame nestled under his chin, her fingers intertwining with his. she fit so perfectly there, like she belongedâlike she was the only part of his life that wasnât broken or dangerous. and yet, as much as her presence soothed him, it also deepened the gnawing ache of guilt inside his chest. her gentle touch, the way she laced her fingers with his, should have been comforting, but instead, it only reminded him of the fragility of the moment. he was living on borrowed time. the lies heâd told her, the life heâd hidden, felt like an invisible wall between them. he wanted to protect her from it all, to shield her from the monsters he dealt withâbut tonight had proven just how close those monsters could get. when she tipped her head up to look at him, her blue eyes filled with curiosity and worry, it was as if she was looking straight through the armor he wore every day. he could see the questions forming, the pieces of doubt starting to surface, and it made him tense. her words, soft yet pointed, cut deeper than he expected.
noah let out a slow breath, his jaw tightening for a moment. what do i say? he thought. he could give her just enough to ease her mind, to keep her from prying further, but even that carried a risk. every word could be a crack in the dam heâd built between them, and once it broke, he wasnât sure if sheâd stay or run. âitâs⌠complicated,â he started, his voice low, careful. âthere are people iâve dealt with in the pastâpeople who donât take kindly to someone like me stepping on their toes. iâve made enemies. and sometimes, they look for ways to hurt me.â noahâs chest tightened at her last question. he wanted to say no, to lie to her outright, but he couldnât bring himself to do it. not completely. âyou were caught in the crossfire,â he said carefully, his eyes locking onto hers. âi never wanted this to touch you. iâve done everything i could to keep you out of it. but tonightâŚâ he trailed off, shaking his head slightly. âtonight, i failed.â
âas for me,â he continued after a moment, his tone hardening slightly, âiâve been in danger most of my life. this isnât new for me. i know how to handle it.â he reached up, brushing a strand of hair from her face. âbut you⌠you donât belong in this. youâre better than this. better than me.â his voice cracked slightly on the last word, and he quickly looked away, staring at the far corner of the room as he fought to steady himself. he didnât want her to see the cracks in his composure, but he knew she already had. noahâs jaw tightened as the words sat heavy on his tongue, his chest rising and falling with the weight of the decision he was about to make. he had tried to avoid this moment, clinging to the hope that he could somehow keep her safe without letting her go. but tonight had shattered that illusion. she deserved more than the constant danger and lies his world carried. she deserved better than him. "kayla," he started, his voice low and rough, âthereâs something i need to tell you.â his throat felt tight, like it was betraying him, refusing to let the words out. but he forced them forward, each one a struggle against the knot in his chest. âtomorrow⌠we wonât be seeing each other again.â noah looked away, his hands clenching into fists as he tried to steady himself. he wanted to run, to avoid the pain in her eyes, but he knew he owed her the truthâor as much of it as he could give. âitâs not safe for you,â he said, his voice steadier now but colder, more distant. âtonight proved that. iâve done everything i can to keep you out of my world, but itâs not enough. itâll never be enough. as long as youâre with me, youâll always be in danger.â

summary | How the Yandere!HOTD characters would react after being told by your father that they cannot marry you

Jacaerys Velaryon
Prince Jacaerys grows desperate upon being told he cannot marry you
The usual level-headed and reasonable Prince that people are used to seeing quickly goes out of the window and is replaced by a man desperate to do anything to have you
Not having you by his side was not part of his plan, and itâs simply not an option
Jace absolutely refuses to have anyone else as his partner, and heâll be damned if you marry anyone but him
After being told no by your father, Jace begins to spiral
Anyone can see that the Prince is clearly not happy, and his behavior starts to become panicked and irrational
Rhaenyra tells him to let it go; to let you go but she doesnât understand. How can Jace let you go when youâre everything heâs ever wanted?
He tells, no begs your father to reconsider, tells him that he canât imagine spending his life with anyone else but you
Jace tries to get him to see just how in love the two of are, but unfortunately your father still tells him no. And itâs nothing against Jace, he reassures the prince, but itâs just thatâmuch to everyoneâs surpriseâyour father has already made arrangements to betroth you to someone else
You of course have absolutely no knowledge of this, and youâre stunned when your father apologizes to Jace but itâs still a big, fat no
He sends you both away and tells you not to ask again because everything is final. And even when you burst into tears, begging your mother to not let him do this, your father doesnât budge
âThis alliance is vital for our House, Y/N. Iâm sorry, but you will not be marrying the Prince.â
That night, you go to bed absolutely devastated and of course, you want nothing more than for Jace to comfort you. You wish to sneak out and go to his chambers like you normally do, but your father is smarter than you anticipated
As if he knew exactly what you intended to do, he asks Rhaenyra to place a royal guard at your door
No one is allowed in and no one is allowed out, which makes your plan of seeing Jace impossible
You beg and you plead, but the guard does not budge. He simply tells you go back to bed and alas, you do not see Jacaerys that night. Or any night after that
It seems that your father is intentionally keeping you away from the prince, whisking you away every time he tries to approach or arranging your schedule so that you do not run into him
Additionally, there seems to be a guard present for every little thing you do, so sneaking away isnât an option
If you do so happen to even see Jace, itâs only through fleeting glances and the lack of contact begins to drive you both insane
You canât stand being away from one another and time is running out. The only reason your family is in Kingâs Landing is because your father was there for business, but soon he will be finished and youâll have to go back to your homeland. Without Jace, to marry someone else
The sheer thought of it gives you anxiety, but youâve exhausted your pleas and by now you know that your father wonât listen
Thereâs nothing you or Jace can do to change his mindâor at least, thatâs what you think
Two days before youâre supposed to leave though, a sudden knock on the door shocks you. When you open it, youâre expecting it to be one of your family members, but nothingâabsolutely nothingâprepares you to see Jace standing on the other side; the guard knocked out, Jaceâs fist bloody, and a wild look in his brown eyes
When you ask him what the hell happened, Jace responds by telling you that he canât live without you, and that he was willing to do whatever it took to make you his
He couldnât let you leave without doing something, and so that night, the prince takes you in every position that he can think of. Missionary, doggy style, against the wall, on the balcony
Anything to breed your pretty little cunt, anything to make sure that his seed takes
Jace hates it, he hates breaking the rules and as heir he knows what heâs doing is wrong
He knows that impregnating you while not being married could potential ruin him, you, and his mother. He knows how the greens would react to a bastard having a bastard, but heâs so afraid of losing you that he doesnât care
Jace risks everything that night just to make sure that you stay by his side; and it works
A few days later, you still end up leaving with your family but on the journey back home you pray to the Gods that your plan works
You pray that Jacaerysâ seed takes root in your womb and to your utter excitement, you prayers come true
A few short weeks after returning home, you notice that your moon blood hasnât come and you start to get sick nearly every morning
Youâre barely well enough to attend any meetings with your so-called âbetrothed,â and it doesnât take long for someone to catch onto your symptoms
When your maids discover whatâs going on, they immediately tell your mother, who in turn tells your furious father
When you finally break the news, you swear that you had never seen him get so angry before. Had your mother not been holding him back, you were sure that he wouldâve strangled you where you stood
Alas though, as much as he wanted to wring your neck he knew that harming the future Queen of Westeros would not be a wise decision
After all, there were no doubts about who the father of your unborn child was, and as soon as the news broke your father had furiously written to Rhaenyra and informed her of the situation
As soon you arrived in Kingâs Landing, you were all but thrown into a wedding gown, modified to fit over your stomach of course
But either way, you and Jace get exactly what you wantâthe opportunity to spend forever together, and six moons later, a healthy, chunky baby that just so happens to be born three moons sooner than anyone expected
Aegon Targaryen
Aegon is angry when your father tells him no
And itâs not just because of the rejection, itâs also because he knowsâAegon knows that the only reason he says no is because your father doesnât think heâs good enough for you
In fact, your father flat-out tells him this, and to make things even worse, your father declares that youâll marry his brother insteadâthe responsible, honorable Aemond
Like hell Aegon would ever let that happen
You are the one thing Aegon has that Aemond doesnât. Someone to love and genuinely care for him, and Aegon isnât going to let that go so easily
He has half a mind to draw his sword and kill your father on the spot for even suggesting such a vile idea, but you beg him not to. Despite heavily disagreeing with your fatherâs decision, you tell Aegon that thereâs other ways to get him to change his mind that doesnât involve bloodshed
Surprisingly, Aegon listens to you but you shouldâve known it was only because he had already thought of something worse
You didnât know it, but when Aegon lures you into his chambers the next day, heâs come up with a plan
He knows exactly how to get your father to change his mind, and his plan starts the moment he has you naked
Unfortunately, itâs not the first time you and Aegon have fucked so bedsheets are no use to him. No, your lover has to get a bit more creative than that
Somehow, Aegon convinces you to try something new and you end up bent over the Princeâs balcony as he fucks you from behind, his cock driving in and out of your slick cunt
Itâs the middle of the day and what youâre doing is beyond risky, not only because youâre not married, but also because literally anyone could look up and see the two of you
You see, the Princeâs balcony just so happened to overlook the training yard, and though it was empty at the moment, Aegon knew exactly when it got crowded
All he had to do was wait for his chance, fucking you so good that you didnât even grasp the situation
You were none the wiser as to what was happening, eyes closed as you basked in the pleasure. You moaned his name and clenched around his cock, feeling a familiar pinch in your stomach
Just as you reached your peak, you began to hear shouting from below
Startled gasps and a few screams had your eyes flying open, Aegon smirking as you caught the attention of at least twenty peopleâone of whom was your father
He stood, horrified as the prince locked eyes with him. Seemingly taunting him as he rutted into you, moaning and still fucking you against the railing
Aegon swore that he had never came so hard in his lifeâexpect maybe on your wedding night less two days later, the memory of your fatherâs face and the satisfaction of getting what he wanted fueling what he calls, âThe best fuck of his goddamn life.â
Daemon Targaryen
Daemon is amused upon being told no
Heâs amused and itâs because he never really asked for permission in the first place. It was more likeâŚa courtesy warning, and he only did it because he knew you were too scared to tell your father yourself
After all, the Rouge Prince has a reputation and itâs not exactly squeaky clean. Daemonâs track record with his wives is why your father said no, but he shouldâve known that no isnât in Daemon Targaryenâs vocabulary
In fact, Daemon merely laughs in your fatherâs face, declaring that the two of you will be married in a fortnight, regardless of what your father says
Show up or donât, Daemon doesnât careâbut you will be his wife
And of course, your father protests, appalled that the prince is so bold
He even goes as far as to complain to the King, but Viserys is old and weak. Thereâs seldom that he can do to fight Daemon anymore except threaten to exile him again, but Daemon isnât afraid of punishment
Heâll gladly leave the hell hole thatâs Kingâs Landing, but he makes it clear that if he does, Westeros will never see him or you again
He relays this threat to your father, and in his desperation to keep you away from the Prince, your father all but flees in the middle of the night. Making sure that no one except those loyal to your House know where heâs taking you
Despite your protests and your attempts to alert Daemon, youâre dragged on a boat and shipped off to a far away land, one where your father hopes the Prince will never find you
He even goes so far as to change your hair and make up a fake identity for you, but he was a fool to think that he could ever cross Daemon Targaryen
If the Prince wasnât annoyed with your father before, then Daemon is most certainly furious when he learns that heâs all but kidnapped you
He sets to work on finding you almost immediately, and he swears once he does heâll kill anyone that helped with this ridiculous scheme
He starts his search by fiercely questioning all of the guards and servants that were tending to you. And because heâs Daemon Targaryen, it doesnât take long to get the answers heâs looking for
With one look at Caraxes, the so-called men that were loyal to your house end up folding pretty quickly. Daemon has them all but fighting each other to give up your location, though unfortunately their honesty isnât enough to spare their lives
In his pursuit to get where you are, Daemon leaves a trail of bodies
He kills anyone that he suspects of helping your father, though his rage wonât be satisfied until he confronts the man himself
And what do you knowâyour father truly is a fool of a man because it turns out that he took you to Pentos. Pentos, the land where Daemon Targaryen lived for years
Why he thought that was a good idea, no one knows. Perhaps he thought that hiding you in plain sight would be enough to fool Daemon, but unfortunately the rouge Prince is much too smart for that
And due to all of the connections Daemon has in the city (and his dragon) it takes him less than a week to locate you
He finds you hiding just on the outskirts of the city, in some rundown village. You look miserable as you chat with some of the locals, hatching your own plans to escape and somehow get back to Daemon
Your father was asleep in the house that you shared, though the beat of Caraxesâ wings are enough to alert you both, your father waking up and running outside just as Daemon lands in front of you
The Prince wears a smirk of triumph as he dismounts his dragon, taking in your fatherâs horrified face and laughing
He enjoys the moment almost as much as he enjoys the way you immediately run to you, ignoring your fatherâs protests and shouts to come back
Itâs obvious who you choose by the way you hang onto Daemon, hiding behind him while Caraxes roars
Thereâs a moment where everything seems to stand still, and Daemon drinks in his moment of victory before slowly gesturing you towards his dragon, helping you mount
As you climb onto the red beast, Daemon slipping in the saddle behind you, the last thing your father sees is the smirk that adorns Daemonâs face
Lilac eyes with with his own, and then, Princeâs lips utter a single word
âDracarys.â
Lucerys Velaryon
Poor Luke is devastated when your father rejects his proposal
It took all he had to muster up the courage to even ask, and now heâs crushed that he wonât be able to marry the love his life
Not only that, Luke genuinely cannot see himself with anyone else. Youâre it for him, and heâs determined to be with you no matter what
Call it young love or maybe just sheer stupidity, but one night Luke sneaks into your chambers and hatches a plan
He tells you that thereâs a way for you to be together, a way for you to have your happy ending after all. All you have to do is come with him, and heâll take you to a place where no one, including your father, can come between you two ever again
And that night, when you flee with the Prince on the back of Arrax, it almost feels like a fairytale. Youâve never felt more alive than you did as you watched the Red Keep disappear into the night
With your heart beating as fast as Arraxâs wings, you and Luke run away, neither of you thinking of the consequences, or caring
Youâre just so happy to be together that everything else falls into the background. Caught up in your own bliss, you and Luke flee to Essos where the Prince has arranged for you to be married
Like he promised, no one is there to object or to stop you from becoming one. Theyâre all too busy in Kingâs Landing looking for you both, your mother distraught and your father wondering what happened to his youngest child
Likewise, Rhaneyra nearly collapses when she finds out that Luke is missing, but Daemon reassures her heâll be back. He doesnât know when, he tells her, but he has a sneaking suspicion that when he does youâll be in tow
And what do you knowâfour moons go by and it turns out that Daemon was right. You and Luke return to Kingâs Landing after all, and upon arrival youâre greeted by your weeping mother and your
concerned father
They both have so many questionsâwhere have you been, what happened, why did you run away?
And everyone is so focused on questioning you, so relieved that the Prince isnât dead after all, that they almost miss the glaringly obvious bump thatâs concealed behind your blue dress
Almost
You try to hide it as best as you can, but when your father pulls you in for a hug you know that he can feel it. The horrified expression he wears when he pulls away confirms this. And when you back away, placing a loving hand over your stomach and settling into Lukeâs arms, that is when he also takes note of the matching Velaryon pins on your clothes
âWe have something to announce,â Luke tells his mother excitedly
You both share a loving look, and Rhaneyraâs eyes are ready to pop out of her skull when Luke places a hand over your stomach and grins
âY/N is with child.â
Aemond Targaryen
Aemond takes your fatherâs words as a challenge
Despite how irritated he is at being flat-out rejected, he decides not to lash out or show any emotion really
For Aemond, keeping a level head is important. It allows him to plan, to strategize like heâs always been taught and to be able to stay one step ahead
He supposes heâs just like his grandfather in a way, and itâs obvious that your father underestimates just how far Aemond is willing to go for you
The first man that your father agrees to betroth you to only lasts about five minutes in the duel Aemond challenges him to
The second fairs a little better, though not by much. By the third, your father is furious and itâs become a game for Aemond to see how fast his opponent can last before they ultimately meet their maker
He wears a smirk the entire time heâs fighting, easily ducking and dodging and occasionally striking which wounds the man heavily. Itâs obvious that heâs going to win, again, and the sobs and screams from the Lordâs family are hard to miss
They sit next to you in the crowd that surrounds him and Aemond, and every time Aemond lands a blow your father flinches, muttering under his breath how it was a mistake to ever let you meet that man
You on the other are ecstatic, occasionally locking eyes with Aemond and sending him encouraging smiles
You pray after each duel that your father will finally change his mind and allow you to marry Aemond, but itâs not until after the fourth duel does he agree
After a particularly bloody and grueling fight, there are no more proposals. Every Lord that had ever considered asking for your hand is now too terrified to even speak to you, and with the lack of marriage offers your father has no choice but to admit defeat
He agrees to marry you to Aemond, and of course, Aemond feels victorious. He smugly thanks your father for his reconsideration, shaking his hand and promising that he wonât be regretting his decision

Heavens, help me... I love her too damn much!
For Gojo Satoru, love was once an abstract concept. At first, he thought it was admiration, or a sense of obsessionâ
But on the day he watched you become Zenâin Naoyaâs bride, Satoru realized it was much deeper than that. It felt like the sharpest sword had pierced straight into him and lodged itself there.
And then, years laterâ as if hearing his prayers, you became his. Since then, his life was perfect, because he wasn't lying when he said that you were everything he wanted in life.
Yet in a twist of fate, that same sinking, horrific feeling washed over him... as he watched the pagoda he built for you engulfed in flames.
You were there. Satoru felt himself staggering as he took in the mortifying sight. You and his unborn child are inside!
He didn't waste a breath as he dashed towards where you were, crushing everything in his path in the process, but just as he was about to enter the scorching templeâ
âSatoru, no!â Suguru grabbed him, restraining him with his own body. âGet back!â
âNo!â he screamed at him frantically. âShe is there! Suguru, let goâ!â
And then the worst happened, as the pagoda completely crumbled into a heap of rubble. Satoru's breath was knocked out of him as he faced the reality that he couldn't save you in time. And he felt like losing his consciousness as he wheezed, and thrashed in Suguru's hold.
It was all too much for him to comprehend as he struggled against the devastation before him.
How... did this happen? You were happy. You were about to welcome a child into your lives! The two of you really were...
SEVERAL WEEKS PRIOR
Your husband is trying to use you to wage a war... against your homeland.
You secluded yourself in your study, trying to make sense what you just overheard.
In a broader perspective, Satoru's actions could be constituted as national defense. If he perceived the Eastern Empire as a threat, then countermeasures were indeed necessary. But if not...
Regardless, it was not the very idea that blew you, but how he planned to use you to sway sentiment in your former country, to weaken them.
Is that what he's been aiming all this time? You felt like a hypocrite to question this since you too were using him. But these days, you were certainly not using himâyou were falling in love with him.
It was strange, because you were supposed to be furious if that was his intent from the start. Yet what you felt right now was profound sadness, possibly even denial and heartbreak. You kept thinking how there must be another explanationâ
âSweetheart, hello~!â
You were startled when the door to your study was suddenly flung open, and the man from your thoughts strode in with a broad grin, completely oblivious to your inner turmoil.
"Satoru." You fixed him with a genial smile, even as nausea churned within you. Straightening your skirts, you looked up at him.
"I've been told you haven't been well, and Shoko said you've seen the physician," Satoru frowned, his long fingers cradling your face as he half-sat on your desk. "How did it go? What did he say?"
"Oh..." you clammed up, feeling at loss. "He said..."
Your dashing husband tilted his head curiously, bright eyes softened, worried lines etched on his face were so clear... and despite your conflict, you didn't have the heart to deny him this news.
"I'm with child." This time, your smile was genuine as you pushed back your intrusive thoughts. "Satoru... I'm carrying our child."
For a full ten seconds, Satoru was stunned, staring at you with a blank expression, his lips slightly parted. "H-huh...? Child? A... baby?"
"Mm-hm. A living baby."
"O-oh..." Satoru blinked his eyes rapidlyâlooking at your face, then your abdomenâbefore his expression broke into absolute wonder, broadly grinning. "T-that's... ohâ it'sâ!"
To say he was speechless didn't cut it as he stuttered, messed his hair, pinched his own cheek, becoming restless yet looking so incredibly giddyâ
"My queen!" Satoru suddenly lifted you and spun you around midair. "My beautiful wifeâ!" before gently sitting you on the desk and burying his face in your skirts, hugging your waist tightly. "Good lord, I'mâ I'm soâ!"
It hadn't truly dawned on you until now that you were going to become a mother. Witnessing Satoru's unabashed reaction as he nestled his face into you⌠nearly brought tears to your eyes.
Right in this moment, you didn't entertain any other thoughts. You were deeply moved by your husband's overwhelming excitement for your baby. And the realization that, despite Naoya's accusationsâ
Satoru looked up at you the second you sniffled, and he immediately drew you closer, pressing his forehead against yours.
"Hey, no tears, yeah?" He rested a hand on your jaw, his eyes sparkling with utter adoration as he gazed at you. "This is wonderful. We're going to be parents. This child... a part of you and meâwe're going to bring them into the world."
You tugged his collar close and brushed your lips against his. And he responded with equal fervor. You yearned for this closeness with him.
. . .
But still in the back of your head, that lingering, buried fear whisperedâ
Is the man who adores you this much... capable of hurting you to the same extent?
With your bare bodies pressed closely, and you under him, Satoru could sense the rapid beat of your heart. And in return, you felt the heat of his palms against your skin and the tremors in his breath.
Yet now, in your marital bed, it quickly became clear to him that you, who were usually so composed and collected, were nervous. Satoru couldn't suppress the smile spreading across his face even if he tried.
"This is far from our first time, Empress." His coy smirk taunted you as he littered kisses along your jawline and chest. "What are you so jittery about, hmm?"
"Ah..." you let out a soft sigh as he sucked your breast with his mouth. "N-nothing... you're mistaken."
"Hmm... not confessing? Right..." He then grabbed the generous mound of your other breast and fondled it, making you squirm and moan.
But in the midst of this eroticism, suddenly your mind was thrown back toâ
âThatâs why I have her here.â
"Satoru," you breathed out, catching his hands. He looked up to you in slight surprise, thinking that you wanted to stop.
But he was in for a plot twist when you first pushed him, then flipped him underneath you, straddling him and capturing his lush lips, yanking his hair in the process.
"Whoaâ hey..." Satoru held your hips, visibly startled but clearly enjoying your sudden whim, snickering. "My queenâohhâ you're a sight to behold, on top of me."
He grabbed the flesh of your bottom, sinking his fingers into it and pulling you forward. You let yourself be moved until your thighs were next to his ears.
Suddenly, it was, at once, the most peculiar experienceâthe greatest confidence boost you had ever received, and the hottest thing he had ever seen.
"You're so damn wet already," your husband nipped your inner thigh playfully as he observed your folds, and you gasped. "Are you ready?"
In response, you slammed yourself onto his face because, right now, you were in a less than forgiving mood.
"You look good under me," you darkly retorted, but then you choked on your own breath when your husband started licking your folds messily with his tongue.
Satoru smirked at the sound of your breathless noises, responding by lapping even more fervently. Your fingers tangled in his hair, tightening their grip on his scalp as you began to grind yourself against his face.
"You a-are really n-nasty!" you moaned, voice breaking at the feeling his sinful tongue parting your opening. "Maybe y-you have lied to me⌠all th-is time."
Satoru furrowed his brows in slight confusion, and perhaps a bit of annoyance, as he pinched your clit in retaliation, causing you to draw in a sharp breath.
"You'reâ awful!" but contrary to your claims, your face contorted with pleasure as the tight coil in your belly spasmed. "How m-many women... h-have you beguiled like m-me?"
He almost laughed into your ass. Literally. If being called awful was the price for pleasuring the most beautiful woman in the lands, then Satoru would be happy to be that horrible person every day of his life.
But then, you suddenly shifted on top of him, no longer positioning your hips in his face, and he quickly caught your face, crashing his lips against yours so both of you wouldnât part for even a second.
"Nobody else," he murmured, wet lips and tongue ravishing yours, so much lust glistening in his eyes. "I'm all yoursâ forever." Just as he whispered it amidst pants, he groaned when your hand sneakily went to his very hard length.
And firmly grasped it. He got swollen just by tasting you and hearing your noises earlier. He growled, and against his senses, he pushed you down to lodge it inside you, penetrating and splitting you apart in one go.
âAhâ! Satoruâ itâs tooâŚ!â you babbled breathlessly, your nails digging into his shoulders, feeling his huge cock pulsing inside your tight walls.
âYour fault,â he rebuked, eyes narrowing into darker shades, rigorously moving his hips against yours as he sat up. It was impossible to hold it in any longer, he could feel it already.
He tensed up, adjusting his position, so close to losing it inside you, and when he heard your dirty mewls and felt you shudderâreverberating through his body tooâSatoru gripped your waist tighter, groaning, holding you in place to release his load inside you with precision.
Your body gave in as well, releasing at the same moment his cum burst inside you. Your vision blurred as the nastiest of moans escaped you, yet you felt so safe as your husband caught you in his arms.
. . .
"Are you okay?" Satoru asked worriedly after you rolled off him in the aftermath of your bliss. "Do you feel sick?" Your unfocused eyes met his, and he looked panicked, pulling you closer. "Shit, did I go too far? I shouldn't have, especially with the baby still in the early stages..."
"I'm... okay," you croaked, trying to reassure him. "Just tired..."
Heaving a relieved sigh, Satoru pecked you in the lips.
"Am I... a mess?" you leaned on him with a blissful smile, feeling his cum still trickling out between your legs.
"Yeah... My beautiful mess, that is." Satoru chuckled, reveling in the state of your disarray. "Soon enough," his hands traced your skin before settling on your tummy, a fond smile curving his lips. "Our baby will grow here."
"Yesâ" you replied, placing your palm over his. "Do you... want a boy or girl?"
A boy would be the much sought-after prince, and you fully expected him to favor it, until to your surprise, Satoru lightly hummed and pressed a kiss on your belly button.
"Does that matter? What's important is you deliver them safely and they're healthy," he chuckled. "A princess will be nice... she'll turn out to be as lovely as you."
"But the heir has to be a prince..."
"Nah. I can always amend the succession norms. I'm the emperor."
And you giggled next. Seeing how free you looked, Satoru thought you were the woman overturning his skies and stars, and you truly areâas now you are the mother of his own flesh and blood, his future empire.
There will be a nation-wide celebration for you. Satoru insisted it was a must, and he would invite dignitaries from neighboring empires and kingdoms as well.
Including the Eastern Empire.
. . .
âYour Majesty. I... bring a gift and an invitation from the Western Empire.â
Naoya clacked his heel on the carpet, casting a sharp, yet uninterested look at his aide.
âThere will be a celebration forââ the poor man gulped uneasily, faltering as if he could foresee how his emperor would react. Naoya scowled.
âSpit it out.â
âThe former empressâ pregnancy, Your Majesty!â
âWhat...?â At that moment, he snapped his head towards him. It felt like everything he had ever known came crashing down. âY/N...?â
That canât be possible. For many years both of you had failed. That was why he took that maid and divorced you. No, upon reflection, it was never truly his intention to divorce youâhe had wanted you to raise that child if you couldn't bear one.
But then you completely ignored him and had an affair with Gojo Satoru. He was furious. He couldn't bear the disgrace of it all, so he went with the divorce, if only to assert some control. However, the joke was on him, as you ultimately fled with Gojo entirely.
But if you arenât infertile... Then, what did that make him?
Numerous thoughts ran through his mind. Was it possible that it was his child instead of Gojoâs? How many months had it been anyway?
...or could it be that he is the one who isâ!
âNo...â he muttered, frantic, taking sharp breaths. âAbsolute rubbish!â
The aide stared at him in fear, as Naoya appeared unhinged now. But soon, that fear gave away to pity, as the emperor trashed his desk and howled in frustrationâ but contrary to the expected fury, Naoya looked like he was mourning, evident by the way he flung everything but the very portrait from his coronation day.
Of him and you. Even after that disastrous divorce, he had never taken it down from the wall of his study. Now, Naoya was staring at it, a multitude emotions clouding his eyes.
This man, just as the aide had always thought, has thrown away the only good thing he has in his life.
âAre the invitations sent already?â Satoru asked with a blooming smile, rolling the yarn out of his catâs reach as the poor kitty grappled to catch it. âAnd how are the preparations going?â
âBanquets are usually handled by the Empress, but you really go out of your way and do it instead,â Suguru shook his head, unamused by the added workload it brought him, especially considering his disinterest in festivities.
âTheyâre all sent, some of them respondedâbefore you ask, Naoya hasnâtâ and Iâve cascaded the preparation to Shoko, since I have no clue what to do about it.â
âWell, not that I care if heâs going to stay sour and wants his name tarnished in the daily papers as a bitter ex-husbandâŚâ Satoru shrugged, petting Sugu-chan as the cat purred contentedly. âHe is tactless, he very well might be.â
âYou really want to spite him, donât youâŚâ Suguru sighed. âYou even sent him a note. It was unnecessary.â
âHe was the one hurling curses at me and my empress first. Iâm just returning the favor.â
The note in question was of lines after lines of flowery nonsense about gratitude and whatnot. Satoru imagined Naoya's vein would burst after reading his card.
âIâm happy for you, Satoru.â As exasperated as Suguru was, his smile was genuine when he said it. âA royal baby, huh...â
"Suguru." The emperor's voice suddenly dropped an octave, surprising him. "What about the placement of the totem I told you the other day?"
The abrupt shift in conversation made Suguru visibly uncomfortable, and again, they were back to this topic.
"You're seriously going to do this?" the duke asked, almost in disbelief. "Satoru, you're going to become a father. You have everything already. This will lead to war one way or another, andâwhat if the Empress finds out? How do you think it'll make her feel?"
However, Satoru's gaze was cold as he dismissed most of Suguru's tirade. There was a chill in his expression that made his longtime friend inwardly questioned who the man before him was.
"I'm asking you. Have you done it or not, Suguru?"
"You're going to put a curse on a whole village, Satoru."
"I told Zen'in Naoya the moment I got Y/N, that it would mark the beginning of his downfall. I'm making good on that promise."
Suguru pressed his eyes shut to calm his fury. Morally, what Satoru did was wrong, but politically, this was the art of war. Suguru purely opposed to this out of consideration for you.
Few understood Satoru's actions as well as Suguru did. He might understand, others like you and Shoko wouldn't.
"Just remember, when the Empress catches wind of this, she's going to resent you," Suguru warned. "No matter what your reasoning might be."
Satoru's upper lip curled upwards, his eyes bereft of light, narrowing with indifference.
"Unless you never tell her, that is of no relevance."
Love... has he ever loved you all this time?
Naoya had never been confronted with that question or pondered it, simply because he never considered love existed within the context of something as grand as monarchy.
You were chosen because you were well-bred and well-versed in the arts of nobility. You were indeed the epitome of an ideal empress, a fact evident throughout your tenure.
But...
"Naoya!" you yelled at him and caught his hand. "You're a fool! Why did you keep doing that!?"
It was a long-buried memory, when you were still in your teens, around the time you were just made the crown princess. His hands, bruised and bloodied, and you tended to them.
"I'm not weak, you know," he sullenly barked. "I have to train to be stronger."
"You definitely have to train, yes... but you have to take breaks!" you retorted angrily.
"Why do you care so much anyway?" he snapped back. "It's not like your hands that are injured."
And that moment, you were suddenly almost in tears. Naoya never understood why.
"Don't cry." But his instincts told him to make you not cry. "Don't cry. I'm fine, see?"
. . .
Zen'in Naoya jerked awake from his slumber, realizing he had forgotten what his dream was, that it was still the late afternoon, and he was still in his study.
All he felt was that nostalgic feeling, and it intensified when he glanced up... only to see his coronation portrait on the wall.
It was almost as if you were still here. You were incredibly stunning, he had to admit that. Why hadnât he realized until just recently?
The way your crimson dress flowed out, and that thin, serene smile on your face... you were a picture-perfect empress, and that was not an exaggeration. No one could measure up to youâ
"Your Majesty~!"
Especially not Hanabi.
"Your Majesty, the princess has started holding her head up!" Hanabi, now no longer dressed in rags but rather in one of your dresses, excitedly remarking, "Soon, she will start toâ"
Naoya's gaze fell on her dress. He recognized it instantly. That specific deep, vibrant shade of red with serpent-like waistband. It was one of his gifts to you for your birthday. "Why are you wearing that?"
"Huh?" she seems perplexed. "Oh this... I thought it looks pretty..."
But to her surprise, he suddenly flared with fury. "That isn't yours, you dullard," he spat out.
Her expression sank in heartbreak as he continued with his venomous speech. "Know your place." His words cut like a blade. "And I keep telling you, a princess is of no use to the throne!"
Hanabi fought to hold back the tears, because not only had he insulted her, worse still, he showed no interest in their daughter. "She is still of your blood, Your Majesty," she replied, her voice trembling.
"I told you, I only want a heir." His sneer caused her eyes to widen in shock. "Other than that, I won't care."
"Your Majesty, pleaseâ" Hanabi was desperate for him to acknowledge their daughter, when she caught sight of your ethereal face on the wall.
He still hasn't taken it down. It made her eyes twitch, and her own anger to rise.
"The former empress..." she stared at your picture resentfully. "You still have her here. We never even have our portraits painted..."
Naoya's icy gaze leveled at her without a hint of sympathy, despite the woman standing before him being the mother of his child.
"Why do you look at me like that?" Hanabi asked, tears spilling from her eyes. "You used to care for me when you thought I would bear you a son. Even if it's a daughter, she deserves love too, doesn't she?"
In the last five years, she had come to know that the emperor wasn't always this manic person. He used to be gentler, or at least not as vindictive.
And she never truly wanted you to be cast away like that. She looked up to you, admired you from up close, and meant it when she said she would carry your legacy as best as she could.
"Are you dumb?" Naoya barked. "I told you to know your place!"
...yet why? Why are people in this palace so harsh to her?
âI wish you luck on that, Hanabi. Beware, the emperor is fickleâŚâ
Your unkind eyes, Naoya's disdainful stares even after she gave birth to his child... She didn't even care about becoming the empress anymore. She just wanted a happy life!
"If it was the former empress' child... even if it was a princess..." Hanabi turned to him with determination even amidst her pitiful tears. "You wouldn't cast her aside just like you do now with my daughter, would you, Your Majesty?"
Naoya's gaze, devoid of emotion and filled with blatant disinterest more than anything, shot through her, hurting her more than if it was filled with fury instead.
The lack of warmth in his stare made her feel like being looked through rather than being seen. As if she is that insignificant.
"Leave," he ordered coldly next, turning his back on her.
And there is her answer.
Hanabi had been your maid for five long years. She knew who you were, what you stood for, and your whole demeanor. Yet, despite her best efforts, she could never emulate you in the same way, could she?
. . .
"My lady... don't you know that the former empress is with child?"
Once again, Hanabi felt the sting of ice when her lady-in-waiting delivered the news.
"Empress... Y/N?" she whispered. "How...?"
You were stripped of your titles here, and yet you still remained a queen somewhere else. Hanabi might have won Naoya's favor, but now she was losing it while you had another emperor's affection.
Not much had changed about you. You still occupied the highest seat a woman could possibly attain. Whereas she...
"But she is barren!" she turned to her confidant then, almost in disbelief.
"Evidently not. Emperor Gojo has proven that."
How nice. A part of Hanabi wanted to congratulate you because she knew of your sufferingsâhow much you longed to hold a baby from your womb in your arms.
How unfair... But another part of her couldn't help but despise you. Because even in your absence, she still had to live in your shadow. Because you, who had lost everything, regained it all so easily.
"And my lady... Emperor Gojo is going to throw a banquet for this occasion next month. You are expected to attend it."
"Sweetheart, you asleep?"
One night, several weeks later, just as you were about to drift off to sleep, you felt the sheets shift as Satoru slipped into bed beside you.
Though you didn't turn to face him, you felt his warm hands wrap around your waist from behind.
"Satoru... you're back," you murmured sleepily.
"Mm-hmm," he whispered, pulling you closer to his chest and burying his face in your hair, taking in your scent. "Shoko told me you've been in your bedchamber since breakfast. Are you okay?"
"I get queasy if I walk too much, so I've been lying down all day... But don't worry, the physician said it's normal in early stages of pregnancy."
His grip on you tightened, as he caressed your belly. "Hmm, naughty baby. I'm sorry I wasn't here..."
"Where were you?"
For days now, he had been away, and you hadn't really questioned him. You had your guesses thoughâ
"I was overseeing the construction of a new pagoda," he said softly, kissing your neck. "For you, actually."
That was so unexpected that it made you open your eyes fully. "Whatâ for me?" Building pagoda was definitely not a small affair. Usually it was for religious purposes.
"It's a gift to the heavens for blessing me with you and our baby. It's expected to be completed before your celebration banquet."
The tower would be the testament of his love for you and your unborn child. Despite yourself, your heart swelled with overwhelming warmth.
"You're so silly... why do you spend the tax funds for that?" you brushed off the faint heat in your face, not daring to look at him still.
"Whatever I wouldn't do for you?" he cheekily retorted, chuckling.
You had never felt this cherished before, and this time you were certainâyou were more than ready to fall in love with this man.
But he... is planning to use you, isn't he?
"Satoru." You shuffled to turn and face him, causing him to crack his lidded eyes open. You gazed at him, placing both of your hands on his face, caressing his face softly.
You're so kind to me. I appreciate you for that. You wanted to tell him various things, but the darkness in your heart ever since overhearing his exchange with Suguru made it hard for you to do so.
"Mm? What is it?" he drawled with a small smile, leaning into your touch.
âYou... love me, don't you?â
His bright eyes found yours then, sharp and steady. An impossibly fond smile graced his lips, as if finding what you said the most natural thing there was.
âThroughout heaven and earth,â he proclaimed, his voice steady to match his eyes. âYes, my queen.â
...then you would trust him, if only just for this moment. The genuine sincerity in his eyes, the raw authenticity in his words... it all felt too real.
And so, even when you were well-aware of the bitter possibility of truth, you leaned in and kissed him, giving yourself to his touch as his hand slipped inside you.
And soon, came the day of the lavish banquet solely held to celebrate your pregnancy.
You were seated on your throne, dressed in a stunning aquamarine gown. The skirt of the dress was full and flowing, spilling onto the floor in a waterfall of shimmering fabric. Upon your head perched your crown of diamonds, glinting beneath the light, and your ceremonial veil to make you look as queenly as you could possibly be.
Everyone would agree that you were a sight to behold, and that you were worthy of every praise possible.
"Many congratulations to you, Your Majesty."
"This is a splendid news! A royal baby!"
"To think that the emperor has settled down... sniff, how long have we been waiting for this...? We almost gave up."
You almost giggled at the way Archbishop Yaga wiped his tears with a handkerchief as he presented you with his gift.
Despite your initial reservations, you enjoyed the festivities more than you expected. You had opposed the idea at first, finding it quite unnecessary, but Satoru had pouted for three long days until you eventually relented to appease him.
Speaking of him, he was equally dressed to impress, looking every bit as an emperor he was in an exquisite aquamarine military uniform and robes. Despite engaging in conversation with Earl Nanami, he kept a watchful eye on you, stealing glances in your direction to ensure you were well.
You nodded at him, and he threw you a wink. You smiled.
Everything was truly going well... until the herald announced:
"Prince Megumi and Royal Consort Hanabi from Eastern Empire!"
There was suddenly a hush over the crowd as the two made their entrance. You stilled, looking at the figure responsible for your checkered lifeâ
Hanabi was starkly different since the last you saw her at the courthouse during your divorce. Her dress was now a vibrant shade of burgundy red, reminiscent of a gown you once wore. Gone was her air of humility, replaced by a display of extravagance befitting a noblewoman.
She is no longer your maid, but Naoya's consort. There was no trace of the woman who once served you. You were actually impressed, as she could actually shape herself into the image of a royal consort.
"Empress." However, your attention quickly shifted to Naoya's nephew, and once also your ward, Megumi, as he bowed before you respectfully. "Congratulations."
A fond smile tugged at the corners of your lips as you regarded the young prince who had once been a very shy individual. It reminded you of the days spent with him just to get him out of his shell.
"Thank you, Megumi."
"Diamonds suit you far better than golds do. I wish only for the best for you, Your Majesty."
It warmed your heart, really. Using that reference to your gold crown from your time in the Eastern Empire, you could see how much Megumi truly understood your position and bore no resentment towards you.
Could the same be said for Naoya though?
Right after you received his giftâan ornate box that seemed oddly familiar to youâHanabi suddenly blurted out:
"So, fate has smiled upon you. Congratulations Empress Y/N." She kept that soft, meaningful smile on her face as she offered her felicitations.
Ever since her arrival was announced, something about her demeanor had bothered you. There was a subtle emptiness that seemed to linger in her gaze.
"Thank you," you responded, and that was when you noticed it. There was never any celebration for the birth of her daughter and Naoya, only a passing announcement.
And so, you added. "Congratulations on the birth of the princess too."
You could have sworn her expression fell for a moment, but she quickly regained her composure and bowed her head to you.
For a while, you lost sight of her in the crowd, feeling quite comfortable in your dais. Soon after, Satoru returned to your side, and the herald announced:
"Attention! His Majesty the Emperor's gift for Her Majesty the Empress!"
You looked at Satoru questioningly, and he gave you a dashing smirk before turning to the crowd.
"Thank you, all of you, for joining us to celebrate this joyous occasion." The way he carried himself and the sheer confidence he exuded was mesmerizing, you couldn't deny how it made you swoon. "I've been infamous for many things, and I'm sure the tales have spread far and wide. So please, allow me one more gesture with you as the witnesses."
The crowd giggled at his words, and you finally spotted Hanabi among them, quietly assessing the scene.
Your husband turned to you, a soft smile on his face.
"This is for you my empressâ my lovely queen. Words can't describe how elated I am to know that now you bear our child." He took your hand and pressed a kiss on it. "And it's only fitting that I praise you along with the skies and the stars."
A footman arrived and presented a pearly box. Satoru opened it, revealing a necklace inside. The centerpiece was a large, flawless diamond surrounded by smaller, perfectly cut stones of the same kind. No matter how you saw it, it was truly a work of art, meant to captivate and dazzle anyone who laid eyes on it.
You let out a gasp. "This..."
Satoru grinned, picking up the jewelry and preparing to place it on you. "Nothing much. Just a little trinket for you."
"This is not just a 'little trinket'!"
Your banter elicited another round of snickers from the audience as Satoru fastened the necklace around your neck. The moment he did, the crowd erupted into applause.
"Actually, my real gift is the new pagoda in the royal gardens, built in honor of the Empress," Satoru stated effortlessly, grinning unabashedly. "Feel free to stop by later, everyone."
To the ton, for him to gift you with something so sacred was the height of extravagance. Some of them wondered how you had managed to turn the elusive emperor into someone so devoted to you.
And a few... might be harboring ill will against you for it.
. . .
Later that night, you were sorting through the gifts you had received throughout the day.
"I don't understand, why would you give an expecting woman this?" Shoko picked apart a manuscript that was the gift from Archbishop Yaga. "Who would read this?"
"I wouldn't, but I'm sure Duke Geto would," you replied, and soon the two of you were giggling together.
From jewelry to ornaments, you were pleased with all the gifts presented by the guests from day one. While most were given out of formality, it was heartwarming to imagine your baby seeing all these someday.
Your attention soon turned to the box Megumi handed you earlierâNaoya's gift.
You were intrigued, because what could your spiteful ex-husband could possibly give you? And you immediately reached over to open the lid to find...
"What's that?" Shoko asked as your eyes widened in slight surprise.
Inside the box was an intricate gold and ruby necklace. One you knew well. The very one you wore during your coronation as the Empress of the Eastern Empire.
Years ago, Naoya himself had chosen this piece for you, and now he was gifting it to you, again?
âFrom now on, itâs going to be me and you, Empress.â
Reliving years of your marriage with him wasn't easy. You two were childhood sweethearts, and had been happy in the beginning. You couldn't pinpoint when things began to fall apart, but suddenly Naoya turned into such a person you didn't recognize altogether.
Seeing this relic made you nostalgic, and before you realized it, you touched it, trying to get a better lookâ
"Ahâ!"
Suddenly, a sharp, unexpected pain shot through your abdomen. You instantly dropped the jewelry, letting it crash to the ground, and clutched your lower belly.
"Empress! What happened?!" Shoko rushed to your side in an instant, holding you up, and you whimpered.
"It hurtsâ!" Your breath hitched, as a seemingly invisible knife gutted you from inside. The intensity of the pain was overwhelming, leaving you gasping for breath. "Shoko, pleaseâ"
And before you could even scream or think, the pain blindsided you and your vision titled, before blacking out completely.
First came the warmth, then a reassuring squeeze on your hand. As your consciousness returned, you felt groggy, with your surroundings sharpening into focus.
The first thing that became your main focus the moment your eyes fluttered open was Satoru's face, a mixture of fright and relief etched across his features.
"You're awake..." He breathlessly muttered, sitting on your bedside, interlacing his fingers with yours. "How do you feel?"
"Sa...toru..." your voice was hoarse, barely above a whisper, and as soon as he heard you speak, he exhaled sharply, pulling you into a tight embrace.
"Heavens, Iâ" he let out a long sigh, his breath hot against your neck. "I'm so glad... you are..."
"What h-happened to me...?" you were feeling feverish and a dull throb was pounding at the back of your head, before the shock of it all dawned on you. "B-baby...! Ourâ!"
"Baby is okay too, don't worry," Satoru assured, pulling away from you to gently touch your cheek and squeeze your hand. "Both of you are fine for now..."
The horror that you might lose your baby shook you to the very core. Your vision blurred with the threatening onset of tears.
"Wh-at happened to me, Satoru...?" you asked again as he wiped your first falling tears, your heartbeat sounding so loud in your ears. "I-I was just..."
His expression took on a sudden shift, as if a dark cloud had passed over his face.
"You came into contact with a cursed object," he stated, his eyes hard as he locked onto yours. "You were cursed, Y/N."
"What...?" You were rendered speechless, feeling your body starting to shake. Cursed object? Your past coronation necklace?
Naoya was trying to curse you?
"It's okay, I'm here now, yeah?" Satoru's voice broke through your spiraling thoughts, grounding you in the present. "Look at me. Hey, look at me." he repeated, his deep blue eyes locking onto yours with intensity.
âIâm here. Iâm here with you. Nothingâabsolutely nothingâwill touch you so long as Iâm here.â
But in that moment, your mind was so overwhelmed with fear for yourself and your unborn baby that you couldn't fully grasp the magnitude of the mess unfolding before you, and you just cried in his arms.
Feeling your feeble fingers fisting his robes and your inconsolable tears staining his collar, Satoru gritted his teeth.
âThis won't happen again,â he whispered into your hair, feeling his rage simmering as he felt the tremors of your sobs against his chest. âI swear, I won't let anything like this happen again.â
To Satoru, that was more than enough to justify all his subsequent actions. Putting a curse on his empress essentially amounted to an act of beginning a war.
And it also meant he no longer had to operate behind the scenes.
âKeep them in Clock Tower. No contact. Only food and water at designated times.â
Satoru's icy gaze on the captain of royal guard compelled him to hastily comply with the order, before his eyes landing on the map of the entire continent.
In response to the incident that befell you, he issued orders for open hostility along the eastern and western borders. Soon after, he would formally declare his intention to go to war.
So close. He was so close to achieving his end goal.
. . .
"Satoru!"
Several days later, Suguru burst into his study, visibly outraged. He clenched his fists, looking as if he was about to throttle him altogether.
"Youâ" he heaved a harsh breath. "You have gone too far!"
"What are you talking about, Suguru?"
"Is cursing the entire winery village not enough for you?" This was the first time Suguru had been this furious with him. "Did you really have to massacre the neighboring district as well?!"
"They have placed a curse on my empress." It was so easy for him to say it. "Anyone who dares to harm her shall die."
"You can direct it at Zen'in Naoya! Not the innocent civilians!"
Satoru remained silent, neither shaken nor enraged, and he had finally had enough.
âAre you even sure itâs because the empress is cursed?" Suguru challenged. In his view, this farce had been going on too long.
âNo, Satoru. You are just using her. For so long, you have wanted to bring bloodshed to Western Empire. You were almost there when Empress Y/N proposed that deal to marry you.â
You were informed, days later.
âHis Majesty has placed the prince and royal consort of the Western Empire under strict watch in Clock Tower.â
Clock Tower was essentially the prison where they kept war criminals. Learning that Satoru had confined both Megumi and Hanabi there left you aghast.
After some days of bedrest and getting better, you realized that the entire situation still didn't make sense to you. As hateful as Naoya was, harming you would do him more harm than good. Eastern and Western Empires stood evenly matched in military power, and hence, a conflict between them would bring devastation to both sides.
And moreover, you knew for sure was that Megumi was definitely not the one responsible for this. He was just a boy!
You had to let him out somehow. You had to talk to Satoru about this.
Or at least that was what you thought when you came close to his study.
âAre you even sure it's because the empress is cursed? No, Satoru. You are just using her. For so long, you have wanted to bring bloodshed to Western Empire. You were almost there when Empress Y/N proposed that deal to marry you.â
You stopped on your tracksâstunned into place, to be exact.
âAnd youâve struck gold when she did because her influence will provide you with greater advantage.â Suguru scoffed then, lightly shaking his head with a sneer. âLove? How laughable. All these years, you are planning your warpath, how could you claim you love her when you're trying to ravage her homeland without even considering the impact it would have on her?â
It felt like whiplash. Geto Suguru's voice had your feet rooted to the spot, causing all your doubts to resurface and sizzle in an instant. The very question you had tried to avoid, it was suddenly shoved in your face.
What... will Satoru say? Your heart thumped so loud in your ears it made you almost stagger. He couldn't possibly. He simply couldn't. All his actions... they reflected his affection for you and you believed it because you felt it yourself too.
But Satoru's next response wasâ
âEven when she is derided as the devil, I will bring an end to the Zenâin line in this lifetime.â
And a part of your heart withers then.
The tips of your fingers trembled, finally taking in everything that you had tried to ignore for the past few weeks. It all caught up to you in one overwhelming rush.
Suddenly, it felt as if something inside your chest was torn out and held up for you to see.
"I'm telling you, that day will come sooner than you think, Satoru." Suguru's voice broke through, his frustration palpable. His words snapped you out of your reverie, and you took a step back, retreating to the safety of your study.
The first time you felt utter hollowness wrecking you was when you had suspected that Naoya might have taken Hanabi to his bed. The feelings overwhelming you now were eerily similar to how you felt back then.
Only in this caseâŚ
You had used him first, and if he used you in return... you couldn't fault him.
But isn't it still a bitter truth, even when a mutual transaction is very well within his rights, to know that what you believe as love may apparently not really be the case?
Love... of course, he loves you.
Of that, he was certain.
But at the same time⌠he had his ambitions.
Destroying the Eastern Empire. Was it so wrong that he wanted it? Didn't you want this as well? After all, Naoya had spurned you for a lowly servant and made your life hell, didnât he?
Satoru strolled through the halls and made his way to your study, where the sight of you, so pretty and regal in your seat, greeted him.
His beautiful, graceful wife and empress of his nation. For so long, he had desired you, and now here you were, perched within his walls. His heart couldn't be more fullâ his life is complete already.
"Sweetheart, hey... how are you feeling today?" an adoring grin was visible on his face as he approached you. "Does the baby give you trouble today?"
You didn't answer though, and didn't look at him either. It was quite strange, Satoru thought.
"What's wrong? Is there somethingâ" And when you finally turned to him, the look in your eyes was so eerily cold it almost gave him a chill.
"Release Megumi from your dungeon," you told him with a strained tone. "And return him to his home empire."
The smile on Satoru's face vanished that instant.
"I can't do that."
You rose from your seat, facing him. "He is just a child."
Satoru regarded you with a stern look. âThat child you speak about is a prince of the Eastern Empire. He has committed a great crime against you.â
âNaoya didnât do it.â Your steely gaze was unflinching. âHe might be senseless, but he isnât insane enough to deliberately go into a war he might possibly lose.â
Satoru's eyes darkened at your words, as you stood before him with determination. The way you were so adamant somehow took him aback. âHow... could you defend him? He has wronged you!â
It was one question you had expected, and you had the answer ready.
âEven if he has, I could never wish doom upon my own homeland, Satoru. Iâve lived most of my life there, I did a great deal of things thereâ even if you harbor some sort of misguided contempt or just bloodthirsty enough to lay ruin to Eastern Empire, I refuse to be the puppet for your schemes!â
There it was. You had said it. Everything would crumble once again just like your previous marriage.
Satoru was staring at you in slight disbelief, his eyes gleamed with something that you couldn't really pinpoint. Anger? Disappointment?
âYour life was in danger, as was our unborn childâs. Donât you care about thatâ!â he actually had to stop to catch his breath. âDonât you care that our child nearly didn't make it?â
âAnd? You must have thought it was the perfect grounds for declaring a war?â but you didnât relent and questioned him with a scoff. âAnd afterwards, you would try to use me to gain defectors from Eastern Empire, is that it?â
You saw the flash of surprise in your now-husband's eyes right when you recited his words, but you weren't about to hold back any longer now.
âNow youâre using my safety to justify your actions,â you hissed, feeling like suddenly you understood what all of this was. âYouâre quite cunning, Satoru. Iâve heard everythingâyou will do anything to bring an end to the Zen'in lineage! You wonât even consider the repercussions of my reputation being tarnished across the lands!â
âIs that even important now?â Satoru gritted his teeth to suppress his irritation. âYou have been cursed. Do you honestly think I would let them get away with cursing my empress? How could I, who seek to protect you, be more vicious than whoever in Eastern Empire who cursed you with that necklace?â
âYouâre doing this for your personal gratification!â you exclaimed. âIt is never about me. Youâre just a warmonger!â
The moment those words left your lips, Satoru stilled. His gaze on you faltered, and you couldâve sworn hurt flashed in his face.
âJust how low⌠is your opinion of me?â he asked, his tone dropping, eyes devoid of emotion. âYou jump into conclusions only after overhearing something in a passing and yet you know for sure Naoya wouldnât harm youââ he clenched his jaw.
âYou⌠really loved him, didnât you?â he asked with a sardonic smile. âI know it already. You wonât ever be able to do the same for me. You canât even trust me.â
You were rendered speechless. Despite your doubts of him, hearing this still felt like a slap in your face.
Wonât be able to do the same for him? No. Thatâs not true. You areâ
Satoru let out a defeated laugh and ran his hand through his hair, leaving you uncertain whether he was amused or heartbroken by your lack of response.
âItâs funny, how I have loved you for so long... but apparently the woman I believed to have even a semblance of affection for me doesnât even exist.â
It felt like that one part of you that was capable of feeling love had been stabbed once again.
To say this out loud hurt you deeply, unbeknownst to him. You didnât mean this at all, still it was what came out of you, out of spiteâ
âIn the end, weâre just using each other. Thatâs all we amount to.â
Satoru bitterly snorted, finding your accusation so unfair to him.
âHow cruel is it that Iâm the only one who has to prove this love to you? What about you? Youâre terribly, horribly selfish!â
You stayed silent, looking away, caught between the scorching knives that seemed to twist your heart and conflicting emotions in it, uncertain of what to believe anymore. And you didn't really know what heartbreak was like beforeâ
âIt has been really exhausting, and I donât want to bother anymore.â
When his gaze next met yours, dark and piercing, you realized he was no longer the same man who once promised you love and devotion.
âYou're free to believe whatever truth you wish. But remember, even if you are my wife and the empress of this nation, should you commit any transgressions⌠I wonât hesitate to accuse you of treason, Empress.â
You have committed treason.
Satoru had conducted investigation of the sorts just to prove his point. And yet days later, no direct evidence pointing towards Megumi or Hanabi were found in that cursed necklace.
Punishment for treason is imminent death. You were well-aware of that more than anyone, but your consciousness wouldn't allow it if Megumi had to be hanged due to Satoru's antagonism.
"Your Majesty, your kindness knows no bounds," Megumi said, dropping to one knee before you and lowering his head in the throne room. Satoru had chosen not to grace any of you with his presence, leaving you alone to bid farewell to both Megumi and Hanabi.
Since then, you hadn't spoken with him, nor had he visited your chambers. It was as if he considered you nonexistent at all.
And it is really only a matter of time before he finds out.
But at the very least, you were right. It was never Megumi. That boy was fond of you, he could never. So, you shifted your gaze on the woman next to him.
"Royal Consort Hanabi. A word."
It was the cue for everyone else to exit the throne room. Now, you were faced with this woman once again, and yet one thing remained the sameâ you were still towering over her.
"Why did you do it?" Your calm gaze betrayed a quiet anger that was unmistakably clear. All because of this woman. It was beyond you, how despite having left your past life behind, she had somehow managed to taint your new one as well.
Hanabi looked away, a hint of shame coloring her features. "Your Majesty knows, so why do you spare me?" she asked quietly.
"How preposterous of you to think that I have spared you," you scoffed. "All this time, have you learned nothing at all from standing by Naoya's side?"
She flinched, visibly making herself smaller at your unforgiving tone, still, she dared herself to meet your eyes.
"Can I ask... why you never consider it as Emperor Naoya's doing?" she seemed more confused more than anything, even as her lips wobbled. "The two of you... you don't really hate each other, so why...?"
You didn't want to dwell on why Naoya had chosen that specific piece of jewelry to return to you. If anything, you'd consider it his final parting gift and be done with it.
But the naivety of this woman was astounding. Someone like her wouldn't last long in your seat. You let out a sigh, torn between feeling sorry for her or not.
"You have much to learn about court affairs, Hanabi. And do not think this is an act of mercy. Sending you back to Naoya is a punishment in itselfâyou know that by now."
Hanabi trembled where she stood, her breaths were shallow, and her hands shook slightly as she struggled to maintain composure in your presence.
Realizing it was futile to continue the conversation, you decided to conclude it.
"Know that I will never forgive you for what you have done to me." Your sharp eyes squared on her, the cold ire in your tone making her shudder.
In all the years Hanabi had known you, you had never appeared more fearsome than you did now, adorned in silks of deep blue hues, with that crown of diamonds gleaming in your head.
Then, as if sealing her fate, you delivered these parting words:
"You've always coveted what I have, and sooner or later, that will be your downfall."
The palace felt suffocating for you. After sending Hanabi away, you took a walk in the gardens, followed closely by your ladies-in-waiting.
Good heavens, what have you done? You definitely didn't regret saving Megumi, but no matter how, you had committed a great crime against your own empire. A sentence would loom over your head!
And what about your baby? Would Satoru execute you while you still had his child inside you?
The very thought made your vision tilt, and you had to lean on the wall for support. Your ladies-in-waiting were immediately clamoring against each other.
"Leave," you commanded, trying to catch your breath while doing so. "I'll⌠take some time to rest here."
It took you a moment to realize you had reached the pagoda that Satoru had commissioned for you. This was your first time visiting it. The structure was magnificent, towering in height and adorned with exquisite decorations, leaving you in awe.
"It's a gift to the heavens for blessing me with you and our baby."
You wanted to cry. His voice, soft and smooth, conveyed those words so easily to you. He really loved you, didn't he? What made you so unsure about that undeniable fact?
And now you had broken his heart.
Your hand reached for your belly. Though hidden by your dress, you could distinctly feel that it had become firmer these days, holding the product of your love with Satoru.
"I'm sorry, baby..." you whispered, heartbroken. "I didn't mean to drag you into this too..."
You felt nauseous, your breaths come in short pants, and you felt a headache coming. It didn't really register to you that you had crashed into the candle table, before you collected yourself and ventured deeper inside.
You just wanted a sense of peace and quiet. You would think more later, and right now, the darkness inside felt like a comforting lull for you to rest.
. . .
Or at least that was what you had intended, until you looked back and saw the swirling inferno creeping through the halls.
It didn't take long for Satoru to figure out you had really orchestrated Megumi's release.
More than his wounded pride, it was the searing pain of realizing that you truly believed he was only using you for his own benefit. It felt like an insult to everything he had done for you.
Why couldn't you see that? Just how hard is it for you to understand?
And now that it had come to this... what did you expect from him? Should he really make good on his word and punish you? It tore his heart to even consider it.
However, what was worse was⌠did you think he was really capable of that too?
Amidst his heartache, suddenly he heard loud commotion from outside his study, yells and cries of helpâ and it roused him from his thoughts that he came out of his study, only to come right into a familiar face.
"Anyone! Anyone at all!" one of your maids was running, sobbing and hysterical. "Her Majesty! Please help Her Majesty!"
"What is all of this ruckus?" Satoru demanded, catching the maid by the hand, as she stuttered in tears.
And then, everything came crashing down with the next words.
"The Empressâ is trapped inside the burning tower!"
