Thinking about Kris being a lonely kid who grew up in her home town without any friends. The only other child she knew was the professor's son who was at least 5 years younger than her and the first friend she made started off as some asshole thief that shoved her to the ground and called her names.
Even as she traveled and met all sorts of people, she never really made any strong connections or even knew how to small talk enough to keep up a conversation besides a few tips about pokémon locations, battle rematches, or the occasional gossip spoken at her (trainer calls).
She was a good, tho very awkward, kid who liked helping people out (running errands for both professors, taking letters for others, helping sick and hurt pokémon) , learning about pokémon, and battling. She was better at forming bonds and making friends with animals, significantly more than humans that when people asked her to watch over their pokémon for them, the pokémon didn't want to go back to their original humans on various occasions (the spearow mail carrier, the protected shuckle).
A legendary beast saw the purity of her heart and sought to test her out as a trainer. It saw how deeply she loved and cared for pokémon (happiness mechanic) and needed to know more.
Her rival learned to care about his pokémon through evaluating his actions and comparing them to hers and realizing his lack of compassion and care, to treat them as teammates rather than tools. Both are still very awkward around people but not around their pokémon and not with each other. They would meet up from time to time; she'd see him improve and resume training after another loss (Indigo Plateau rematch and Dragon's Den training).
Sometimes while battling, she would dress as a boy because she felt like she wasn't taken seriously as a girl (outfit changes in link cable battles and trades).
She reminded people of another great trainer who was known for his kindness and love of battling, saw how his family and friends missed him (Green/Blue, Sabrina, Copycat, Red's mom). When she does find him, she earns herself the battle of a lifetime.
Her mom worries about her and buys her gifts as an incentive to stop by home from time to time (room decorations and money saving). Even if she stops by and adds more decore by trading with new people (mystery gift) she's never home for very long.
Another legeendary is drawn to her by a mysterious gift presentes to her (mobile adapter and gs ball event).
She takes on the challenge of the new Battle Tower and seeks to potentially become the top battler there (first battle tower introduced).
As most people never played Crystal, I feel like few people remember her as she was and it bums me out because she was such a sweet and special kid. She's usually just tacked on to the HGSS trio as an afterthought
#trainer kris#moosecanons#pokemon crystal#kris is a sweetheart but also likes to tease little kids a bit#she likes to learn about pokémon but also reading is hard#been ruminating a headcanon that she's a little dyslexic but I'll put that aside for another future headcanon post#also probably a future post about how I headcanon all four of them existing together when Kris technically only has Silver#like even gold/ethan/hibiki doesn't exist for her and she doesn't for him#so I can never bring myself to ship it#mountmortar's blog posts always make me happy because they actually notice the small thing about her text that show her personality#pokémon gsc

Hi there! Can i request platonic hcs of Poppy x best friend reader. So lets say Poppy finally joined Naranja/Uva academy and was sadly proven true where many kids were intimadated by her status as an Elite Four, causing her to be isolated by the other kids. But after a few days since she joined the school, a new kid from another region came. The new kid had become the most talked subject around school which cause Poppy to get curious herself. So then she met the reader and quickly become fast friends with them as they didnt know of her Elite Four status
Idk if you notice but i kinda frame this up to be similar to Nemona’s and the Protag’s friendship, so can i also have the rest of the elite four + Nemona and Geeta reacting to Poppy now having a best friend?
(Btw the reader is from Alola and you can choose whatever pokemon you want them to have as their partner as long their from Alola)
Hope you have a good day/night!
- 🪷 Anon
Thank you! Hope you have a good day/night too!
For a split second I thought this was about Poppy Playtime until I read the academy names lmao
........
For a while, Poppy wanted to pursue her studies at Naranja/Uva Academy, seeing as she was at the age where she could attend school.
But her worries about being seen as "different" held her back, although her fellow Elite Four members convinced her and she finally made the choice to enroll.
As she feared, however, students and staff instantly recognized her and were shocked.
They kept wondering if she was here for some inspection, never fully believing she was just trying to be a normal student and forget about her E4 responsibilities.
Unfortunately everywhere she went, kids were intimidated by her status, not wanting to be paired-up with her in battle studies (to the point where Ms. Dendra made them, lest she lowered their grades).
Honestly it made Poppy feel sad, knowing she's getting special treatment from teachers AND frightened looks from kids her age.
She just wanted to make friends, but these past few days have made her feel lonelier than ever...
Or at least, until she overhears chatter about you, the newest exchange student from Alola.
She only picked up a few things, among them being your unique Pokémon nobody has ever seen before...and this gets her curious little mind wondering who you are.
Turns out, you're in most of her classes and always willing to become her partner for assignments!
You didn't know she was an E4 member (heck, you didn't even know Hassel was either), so you struck up a friendship with her rather quickly.
The "unique Pokémon" in question is a very tame Kartana, who looked like an origami project you made in art class--but was really a grass/steel type, which absolutely thrilled Poppy.
If a steel type is your partner, you're automatically upgraded to best friend.
Every now and then, you and her would have battles in and outside the academy (although ofc she holds back a LOT as she's afraid you'll be scared off if you knew her status).
You do wonder why your classmates keep ostracizing her. She was a sweet kid.
When one teen mentions her status, you find that hard to believe and tell them to stop joking around......until you see the look on Poppy's face, meaning they aren't.
You stop her after class, asking if the rumors were true, and she starts crying despite her best efforts to hold back the tears.
"Woah hey! What's wrong?"
"What's wrong??? I-I...I kept such a..a-a big secret from you!! That's what's wrong!!" She sniffles, afraid she's going to lose your friendship over this.
Why did that meanie have to go and do that?
Long story short, your Kartana finds and drags that kid back to you and Poppy, and you make them apologize to her. They definitely learned their lesson after the UB threateningly sharpens its blades while you're scolding them.
That day, Poppy discovers you are a true best friend who doesn't treat her any differently and gives you tons of exp candies as a token of her gratitude.
She becomes more confident in herself, excitedly telling the other Pokémon League members and Nemona (who recently battled her during class) about her new bff.
Hassel, who has seen your friendship grow from the start, is like a proud grandad (and totally didn't sob over it).
Larry appears indifferent, but he does smile a little, glad to hear she's adjusting to the Academy life well.
Rika and Geeta, who were the ones that pushed her to pursue school, couldn't be prouder to see Poppy doing better and finding a great friend such as yourself who didn't judge her.
They had their initial concerns, but realized she was going to be okay after all.
Nemona can 100% relate when she learns how other kids were scared of Poppy bc of her battling skills, and she's thrilled she found a friend who wasn't like that and enjoyed battling her even after learning the truth.

I gave the BG3 origin characters Pokémon teams and put way too much thought into it, so I thought I'd share my nerdish thoughts. Maybe I'll do non-origin characters at some point, but eh, we'll see.
Oh, and there's some spoilers for the character stories, so read at your own risk.
(Teams under the cut!)
Lae'zel
(I couldn't not use this gif, sorry girlie)
Kommo-o
"When it spots enemies, it threatens them by jingling the scales on its tail. Weak opponents will crack and flee in panic." (Pokémon Sun)
An intimidating, armored warrior, just like Lae! Its shiny also reminds me of her, haha.
Zangoose
"It has feuded with SEVIPER for many generations. Its sharp claws are its biggest weapons." (Pokémon Diamond & Pokémon Pearl)
Just like the Githyanki's fued with Mindflayers, it has a big issue with Seviper's mere existence. They also give the same attitude vibes.
Scizor
"SCIZOR has a body with the hardness of steel. It is not easily fazed by ordinary sorts of attacks. This POKéMON flaps its wings to regulate its body temperature." (Pokémon Ruby & Pokémon Sapphire)
They're both well-armored! It is,, also just her vibe.
Bisharp
This pitiless Pokémon commands a group of Pawniard to hound prey into immobility. It then moves in to finish the prey off." (Pokémon Black 2 & Pokémon White 2)
A hardened warrior, like the rest of the team. It not only plays into the fact that she likes to take charge, but I don't think she'd ever evolve it into Kingambit due to her whole awakening with Vlaakith and learning about the prince in the prism, lmao. She's content with Bisharp.
Falinks
"The six of them work together as one Pokémon. Teamwork is also their battle strategy, and they constantly change their formation as they fight." (Pokémon Shield)
The ultimate unit. She doesn't care if they're little guys, they're forces of nature! Not to be trifled with!
Charizard
"CHARIZARD flies around the sky in search of powerful opponents. It breathes fire of such great heat that it melts anything. However, it never turns its fiery breath on any opponent weaker than itself." (Pokémon Ruby & Pokémon Sapphire)
Even if she doesn't agree to become Vlaakith's chosen, she seems like the type to get a dragon herself just to spite Vlaakith.
☆
Shadowheart
(Oh my beloved Shart)
Umbreon
"When exposed to the moon's aura, the rings on its body glow faintly and it gains a mysterious power." (Pokémon Platinum)
It is so she coded. She worships the moon/darkness, no matter what path you go down with her, so Umbreon is perfect!
Absol
"Although it’s said to bring disaster, in actuality, this Pokémon possesses a calm disposition and warns people of any crises that loom." (Pokémon Moon)
Another dark, kind-of moon-esk vibe Pokémon. They also have similar haircuts!
Trevenant
"Trevenant is very kind to Pokémon living in the forest. It doesn't even care if these Pokémon take up residence in the greenery on its head." (Pokémon Violet)
A Pokémon I just think she'd like. I like to think it'd try to protect her from wolves in the forest, but when she came into contact with Sharr for the first time it was only a Phantump.
Hatterene
"This Pokémon can read the emotions of creatures over 30 miles away. The minute it senses hostility, it goes on the attack." (Pokémon Sword, G-Max form)
I think it's a really funny image. Shadowheart wouldn't mind watching with a wine glass in-hand as her Hatterene beats the shit out of someone that won't leave her alone. Its interaction potiental with Astarion is peak.
Mawile
"It chomps with its gaping mouth. Its huge jaws are actually steel horns that have been transformed." (Pokémon HeartGold & Pokémon SoulSilver)
Has her vibes. Good for both versions of her. Has her ponytail (kind of). Makes sense to me!
Zoroark
"Each has the ability to fool a large group of people simultaneously. They protect their lair with illusory scenery." (Pokémon White)
While kind of leaning toward Sharr, it works for Selune as well! Shadowheart is also naturally a Trickster Domain Cleric, so a Pokémon known for tricks is great!
☆
Astarion
(My personal favorite character. I love him. He's soggy.)
Hisuian Zoroark
"With its disheveled white fur, it looks like an embodiment of death. Heedless of its own safety, Zoroark attacks its nemeses with a bitter energy so intense, it lacerates Zoroark’s own body." (Pokémon Legends Arceus)
Its a very Astarion Pokémon. It not only has wonderful hair, just like him, the entry above sounds a bit too similar to the start of the Cazador fight... heh.
Gliscor
"It dances silently through the sky. When it approaches prey, it can land a critical hit in an instant." (Pokémon Black 2 & Pokémon White 2)
Of course, it's vampire coded, and it also just has Astarion's smug, rogueish vibes.
Thievul
"It secretly marks potential targets with a scent. By following the scent, it stalks its targets and steals from them when they least expect it." (Pokémon Sword)
Astarion is a fancy man! Former magistrate! Thievul fits the high-class vibe and, of course, the thief aesthetic.
Froslass
"A Pokémon inhabited by the soul of a woman who died bearing a grudge in the snowy mountains. Legends of Froslass placing deathly curses on misbehaving men send shivers down my spine." (Pokémon Legends Arceus)
I think it'd be funny, if this Pokémon saw Astarion and related. Like. It feels empathy for this poor mf and just kinda sticks around. It REALLY wants to kill Cazador, but doesn't for Astarion's sake. It's cute.
Crobat
"The transformation of its legs into wings made it better at flying, but more clumsy at walking." (Pokémon Platinum)
Ugh the thought of Astarion befriending a Zubat in Cazador's palace and getting it to evolve via friendship is so nice. Also another vampire-esk mon.
Liepard
"Their beautiful form comes from the muscles they have developed. They run silently in the night." (Pokémon Black 2 & Pokèmon White 2)
It's him. As a purple and yellow cat. What do you want me to say.
☆
Gale
(My favorite boot-eater)
Alakazam
"While it has strong psychic abilities and high intelligence, an ALAKAZAM's muscles are very weak. It uses psychic power to move its body." (Pokémon Emerald)
Okay, Mr. 45 Defense 135 Special Attack. The og wizard Pokémon. Of course Gale has one.
Meowscarada
"This Pokémon uses the reflective fur lining its cape to camouflage the stem of its flower, creating the illusion that the flower is floating." (Pokémon Scarlet)
While, yes, it's a Magician, not a Wizard, I still think it works. Gale has a sassier side, which I thoroughly enjoy, and it reminds me of Tara in a weird way.
Delphox
"Using psychic power, it generates a fiery vortex of 5,400 degrees Fahrenheit, incinerating foes swept into this whirl of flame." (Pokémon Y)
Literally a wizard. Gale would love a little Fennakin.
...also, uh, Fireball.
Ditto
"With its astonishing capacity for metamorphosis, it can get along with anything. It does not get along well with its fellow Ditto." (Pokémon Moon)
Gale loves his duplicates: no need for spell slots if you have a Ditto!
...unless he needs Ditto to speak, of course, but Ditto can probably write instead!
Meowstic (Male)
"When in danger, it raises its ears and releases enough psychic power to grind a 10-ton truck into dust."
Another lovely Psychic type! It's also cat-shaped so that's a bonus for Gale. Simply a little guy.
Chandelure
"This Pokémon haunts dilapidated mansions. It sways its arms to hypnotize opponents with the ominous dancing of its flames." (Pokémon Sword)
I wanted a magic item reference, and I think he'd think it's cool! There's quite a few myths surrounding it.
☆
Wyll
(My first romance. He has a special lil place in my heart.)
Gallade
"A master of courtesy and swordsmanship, it fights using extending swords on its elbows." (Pokémon Diamond & Pokémon Pearl)
THE BLADE OF FRONTIERS—
Aegislash
"Apparently, it can detect innate qualities of leadership. According to legend, whoever it recognizes is destined to become king." (Pokémon Y)
THE BLADE OF FRONTIERS PART 2—
Oh, and I also think he got his from his father.
Corviknight
"This Pokémon reigns supreme in the skies of the Galar region. The black luster of its steel body could drive terror into the heart of any foe." (Pokémon Sword)
Haha. Ravengard. Get it.
It's also another knight aesthetic. Yippee.
Sirfetch'd
"Only Farfetch'd that have survived many battles can attain this evolution. When this Pokémon's leek withers, it will retire from combat." (Pokémon Sword)
Oh, another knight! What do you know.
...Blade of Frontiers part 3.
Lucario
"Not only does it perceive auras, but it has also gained the power to control them. It employs them in battle." (Pokémon Sun)
It's very him coded. I also really like the jokes where people compare him to a puppy. Lucario is a bipedal puppy.
The thought of a younger Wyll with a Riolu also brings me joy.
Ceruledge
"The fiery blades on its arms burn fiercely with the lingering resentment of a sword wielder who fell before accomplishing their goal." (Pokémon Scarlet)
Ah, finally. The Warlock pact Pokémon. It really fits him after getting his pact, imo. I like to think Mizora didn't give him a chance to evolve it into Armarouge instead, which upset Wyll at first, but he gets attached to Ceruledge. It's still his, after all.
☆
Karlach
(My favorite female character! She brings me such joy)
Emboar
"It can throw a fire punch by setting its fists on fire with its fiery chin. It cares deeply about its friends." (Pokémon Black)
She'd love this fucker, especially as a Tepig! They're both bulky as shit and deserve the world.
Haxorus
"While usually kindhearted, it can be terrifying if angered. Tusks that can slice through steel beams are how Haxorus deals with its adversaries." (Pokémon Shield)
Haha big axe. Haxorus is just very Barbarian coded.
...Also Karlach with an Axew <3.
Tinkaton
"The hammer tops 220 pounds, yet it gets swung around easily by Tinkaton as it steals whatever it pleases and carries its plunder back home." (Pokémon Violet)
Another big-weapon Pokémon, but I think she'd also just think it's silly.
Imagine Wyll meeting her with this little menace, since he has a Corviknight.
(Yes, I might've done that on purpose)
Arcanine
"Arcanine is known for its high speed. It is said to be capable of running over 6,200 miles in a single day and night. The fire that blazes wildly within this Pokémon's body is its source of power." (Pokémon Omega Ruby & Pokémon Alpha Sapphire)
Loyal fire puppy. Essentially Karlach.
Bewear
"This Pokémon has the habit of hugging its companions. Many Trainers have left this world after their spines were squashed by its hug." (Pokémon Moon)
THEY CAN TAKE EACHOTHER'S BACKBREAKING HUGS. THEY DESERVE EACHOTHER.
I also just really had a fun time running Bear-Rage Barbarian Karlach.
Darmanitan
"Its internal fire burns at 2,500° F, making enough power that it can destroy a dump truck with one punch." (Pokémon Black)
A very Karlach mon, in my opinion. She appreciates how angry it can be. She is also quite angry.

Here is the "Info post" on Iris I mentioned with my AU art piece! (Geez that was a long time ago TT)
Iris is closer to N's age in this story. During the events of B&W, N is 18 while Iris is 15-16.
Iris traveled overseas from the Village of Dragons in order to be an apprentice under Drayden. Iris learns from spoken word and values tradition. The customs she learns in her village mirror that of Alder's, focusing on embracing the natural world and living wild.
She attends Opelucid Academy but is outcasted due to her "unusual" behavior. Her customs are not deemed normal by the other students. While she remains headstrong and determined in her training, she is lonely and longs for a friend.
(Her character is directly inspired by this post! I recommend reading it as it will provide detailed insight on her character c: )
When Iris first meets N, she sees him as nothing but a rival since he is the direct son of the Champion. She is wary that he will be just like the other students at school, but soon find that they have similarities in their beliefs and actions.
Both raised through spirituality and nature, their rivalry soon also grows into a close friendship. Iris finds more comfort in being around N due to their shared customs, and the fact that he doesn't judge her for being herself. Whenever she has free time she goes to find N to hang out. Together they explore the woods, pick wild berries, have battles, and weave bracelets.
(Btw Alder never sent N to a trainer school because he was worried about N possibly having trouble adjusting to a new environment. Plus N seemed happier training with his dad anyways.)
Iris chases the dream of becoming Champion in order to become a dragon master, while N chases that same dream to become a symbol for peace between Pokemon and people. Although they are rivals, they remain friends each step of the way.
Eventually it is time for the Pokemon League (Once the events of BW are finished). In the Quarterfinals Iris is defeated by N, and N is the one who moves up to challenge Alder. N is saddened by this, having just crushed her dreams, the dreams he had seen her work so hard to acquire. Iris is internally disappointed, but urges her friend to continue on and achieve the dream that he has striving for too.
Iris doesn't become Champion but she becomes a key part of the Pokémon league, taking Drayden's place as Opelucid city's dragon gym leader and mayor (she gets to be adorned in her pretty pink dress <3). Being the last gym that trainers have to pass through, she makes sure that only the most powerful trainers - the ones with the strongest bond with their Pokemon - can move up to challenge her Champion friend.

A Series of Random Jacq and Volo Headcanons (Pokemon Masters EX)
Pokémon Masters EX is such a fun little thing. One of the dynamics I ended up liking (and kind of shipping) is Volo and Jacq. So I thought I'd throw in some random headcanons. They can be read as platonic or romantic, or as Volo going along with Jacq because of how useful he is. However you want to interpret them.
They Bond Over Arcanine: They both love their good boy (and girl), and since Jacq studies "ecologically similar Pokémon" (aka Convergent Pokémon, though I feel like this would also include Regional Forms and Paradox Pokémon), Volo trusts Jacq's expertise. Volo may or may not use this as a way to manipulate Jacq, however, his H. Arcanine does trust him (Jacq). Jacq thinks Volo's Arcanine is adorable and loves spoiling her.
Volo Sympathizes with Jacq's Need for Validation: Jacq's not the hardest person to praise, however, the fact that Jacq takes complements and praise so easily does worry Volo. The need for validation is something that Volo can understand and is all too familiar with. Volo just has the impression that Jacq was validated/praised so negligibly that he will take any form of it, no matter how big or small. As such, Volo can sympathize with Jacq in that regard.
Not Wanting to Lose Volo Due to His "Obsession": When Jacq finds out about Volo's plans and how far he's willing to go, Jacq tries to talk him out of it. He's seen what can happen when someone takes their interest to the point of obsession and how far an obsession can get (i.e. Turo/Sada and how that effected Arven). He believes that there is still good in Volo and that he doesn't have to go to such an extreme to encounter Arceus.
Jacq's Arcanine is Cautious of Volo, His Mudsdale Likes Him (Volo): Arcanine is hesitant to trust Volo, feeling that he's hiding something. He can't quite trust Volo as easily as Volo's Hisuian Arcanine can trust Jacq. Jacq thinks it's because Arcanine is protective of and cautious for him, and speculates that part of it has to do with their region/environment. Jacq's Mudsdale, on the other hand, likes Volo. She can sense his confidence and will let him get close to her, and occasionally ride her.
Volo is Hesitant to Accept that Jacq is "One of the Good Ones": Because he has a hard time believing that anyone can be truly trustworthy, Volo can't bring himself to admit that Jacq is one of those people. Part of him does want to, but because he's been burned too many times before, he isn't sure if what he's feeling is genuine.
Jacq Reminds Volo of Laventon: A reason why Volo would want to trust Jacq is because Jacq reminds him of Laventon. And out of everyo e in Hisui, Laventon was the only person he genuinely liked.
Clavell Doesn’t Want Jacq to Have a Relationship with Volo: While Clavell wants Jacq to have good relationships, platonic and romantic, he doesn’t like Volo. Mainly because he worries about Jacq’s and suspects that Volo is taking advantage of Jacq’s kindness. Clavell also worries that Volo would manipulate Jacq into a sinister plot (especially after the whole Raifort scheming to use Jacq as a sacrifice thing).
Jacq Learned How to Bargain and How the Charms He Found Were Actually Valuable: Jacq will go to local flea markets and auctions and started bringing Volo along a week after they met. Volo helps him bargain for the best deals. And when he found out that Jacq had found and gifted a Shiny Charm and Glimmering Charm, he can’t help but chuckle at the fact that he gave away two pretty valuable charms that he successfully bid for. Volo also thinks it was really sweet. Puzzling, but sweet.

favourite belle headcanon(s)?
oohhh my beloved girl….
these got long so i’m putting them under the cut 😁
one i think about all the time is how she kind of becomes a forever student. and by that i mean, once she becomes ✨royalty✨ she gets in contact with the headmaster and other professors at the university of paris and she just like. always studies there. i think her & adam live in paris sometimes too so she gets to be in classes occasionally. but she just CRAVES knowledge and wants to learn EVERYTHING. by the time she’s older she probably has like every possible degree you could get there. like literally i think she’s like a pokémon trainer; gotta collect ‘em all!!!!
and of course she’s always working on the education system as queen, trying very hard to get more schools built, create laws that mandate it for all children - INCLUDING GIRLS!!!! and she’s just. soooo involved in education. she loves studying and learning and she wants to make sure no one has to grow up deprived of it the way she was. (because not everyone has a cool papa who taught them as much as he could and encouraged them to read so much !!) so yeah just. all things education✨ i have a wip i need to revisit that’s set when adam & belle are first married and she’s back from spending time with her tutor and she starts rambling about all the things she’s learned and adam’s listening with heart eyes and then she stops and apologizes for rambling and he’s like no i love it tell me more !! and it kinda makes her choke up because no one’s ever loved her for that amazing mind of hers….🤧
another one i really love is that i think she’s very clingy/snuggly in bed. and i don’t think she realized how much she loved being held when she slept until adam held her and she felt so SAFE. i think because she’s always been so independent, always had to fend for herself, she just didn’t realize how much she actually liked having someone to protect her — even if there isn’t any actual danger while they sleep. just knowing he’s holding her, it kind of helps her to let her guard down. which she needs to do just as much as adam does!
when she and adam travel (which is very often) she keeps diaries of every place they go. it started with their honeymoon, when adam gifted her, on their wedding day, a journal to take note of their adventures. and she loves it so much that she keeps it up! she has DECADES worth of journals in the shelves of her study back home, by the time she’s older. she loves to make notes about the food and the people and the whether and the flora & fauna and all of it!!! she loves exploring SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!! her and adam usually have to do some kind of Royal Thing™️ while they’re anywhere, but they also take time to go off the beaten path and explore and meet local people and just dive in wherever they are. and i like to think that, in their universe, the Travel Diaries of Queen Belle remain very well-preserved throughout time, and are some of the coolest artifacts in french history 🤌
she love baking and cooking !!!!!! she doesn’t get to do it very often since being the queen and having a million other responsibilities, but it was always one of her favorite things to do both for and with her father. and she LOVES the giant ass castle kitchen, i just know she goes crazy in there at least once a week. it’s the most fun when she’s pregnant and having wild cravings. she makes insane concoctions that literally do not taste good but she loves them. i have another random little unposted scene of adam finding her in the kitchen, acting like a mad scientist cooking three different things at once, and adam gets suspicious and asks if she’s pregnant again lmao. she laughs and says she isn’t, she just happened to be reading a cook book recently gifted to her and she couldn’t decide which to try first so she’s making 3 at once!!!!!!!! (but not combined. THAT would definitely be the indicator of another little one)
speaking of her babies!!!!!!!! gosh what can i say about my mama belle headcanons? one big and important one that i have is that she elects to nurse her own babies. which, as you can imagine, is super uncommon for a QUEEN to do. i elaborate on it in This Fic, but essentially she just couldn’t bring herself to adhere to the tradition of a wet nurse. i think because she wanted to find a way to be closer to the mother she lost as an infant, she wanted to do everything her mother did for her before she died. i think her pregnancies, ESPECIALLY her first, were when she thought about her mother the most. because… that was the most time they spent together 🫠 her mother died when belle was only three months old!!!! and she knew, of course, that her mother nursed her. i just think she felt this deep need to honor her & connect to her this way. and adam was originally advocating for a wet nurse, purely thinking about time efficiency, how busy belle is and how much work time she’d have to give up to do this, but after hearing her lament her mother and cry that she couldn’t be here to help show her how to be a mama… he understood. he knows how desperate one can be to connect to a lost mama :( so he supports his queen and they never hire a permanent wet nurse for their children! (there was a temporary one for a FEW times they HAD to go on small trips when they had a baby and they just couldn’t take her or him, but it was only under that kind of urgent/dire circumstance.)
i think belle is an absolutely iconic and very involved queen, but early on i think she struggles with it a lot. one of my favorite things to think about for her is how like… she was an outcast in the village, but she’s STILL an outcast in royal society. like i think she had this secret hope that this new position in life would be the answer; that she’d finally find her place. and she does eventually! but at first it’s rough. adam believes in her wholeheartedly and he LOVES that she is queen, but the rest of their court doesn’t fully take to her as easily. it’s strange enough that she came out of the woodwork, not from royalty, not even from a prominent noble family as far as they can tell! but As Queen she’s so much more involved than any of them could have anticipated. the older court and council members recall adam’s mother and grandmother, both very inactive queens (because they were very abused and disregarded by their husbands…) and therefore are confused by this sudden shift (especially because they KNEW of adam’s delinquency prior to meeting her, so they can’t fathom how he’s changed so much and is so supportive of her) and the younger court and council members just have no idea how to respond. they’re all willing to play the part and respect their queen, but then she’s… actually in meetings and actually sharing ideas and plans and making decisions and it’s like ???
and not even to mention, her ideas are very ahead of her time and forward thinking — and they don’t care for that shit at all! it’s just all very strange. and french court people are gossiping little pricks and so people talk about her a lot, and she feels just as isolated and different as she did in the village. she struggles a lot with it early on. and adam does everything he can to support her and comfort her and believe in her. but he also takes a lot of the blame for how she’s treated, because he feels like it’s his fault for bringing her into this life. even though she obviously chose all of this willingly. so, it’s just TOUGH. but time does carry on, and eventually belle does have the respect of her court, at least the vast majority of it. she does find her place in the end, it just doesn’t happen as swiftly as she had hoped.
gosh, okay, one last note that i will make much lighter: she loves loves loves loves loves LOVES to read to her children. which is obvious, i know, but oh my gosh. she just loves it. she loves when adam reads to them too, but i think something fills her heart so completely when she’s sitting with them gathered on the floor, or she’s in bed and they’re snuggled around her, she’s just whisking them away to all these adventures. reading was always her escape, and i think she likes that, for them, it’s just a way to expand their dreams. she loves teaching them so much, she loves watching their little minds expand with curiosity and creativity. she never really expected to become a mother, because she wasn’t going to let herself settle in that village, so now that she IS one, i think she just loves giving them the whole world. she loves listening to them read, too. she loves listening to them talk and sing and play and laugh. she loves being a mama so much more than she ever even considered. i think because she always attached that kind of thought to being in a loveless marriage in the village she’d be stuck in forever. but there’s so much love between her and adam, it always multiples with each of their three little babies. and she didn’t have to give herself up for any of it. she gets to be a brilliant queen; a student, a teacher, a leader, while still being the best wife and mama (and daughter!!) to the ones she loves the most. i just love writing her happily ever after so much. i think she was really beginning to lose hope in that village, and i love how it all changed, and that adventure in the great wide somewhere is always right at her finger tips :”)

My Incredible Expanding List of "High Priority" Creative Works to Read / Watch / Play / Etc. 😰
(No spoilers of any kind in this outburst.)
My To-Read / To-Watch / To-Listen list is where media go to die the long and quiet death of entropy and ice. 😓
Some people, it's like they can read a book a week, or watch a movie a day, or get through a whole TV series every month, or whatever. Not just for a short season, but regularly and indefinitely. It's an integrated part of their lifestyle.
Inconceivable!!
For me it is wildly hard to get around to starting media that I genuinely do want to get to. The reason why is a topic for another day, but I just want to marvel publicly with you at the absurdity of my Current Efforts. All of the following are assigned High Priority:
My sister got me a Nintendo Switch for my birthday this year, and included with it both of the new mainline Zelda games (Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom) as well as Pokémon Legends: Arceus. The Pokémon game is my latest Actually Doing It effort; I actually began playing it last week. I told myself that I would absolutely play at least one of these games because I can't have my sister getting me a present that expensive and then me not doing anything with it. And I will say that I am enjoying the game as much as I could have hoped! It's a very pleasant escapist fantasy with very low mental overhead, which my stressed-out, brain-fog-addled self sorely needs.
I would also like to replay the original Life Is Strange (Season 1) ahead of the upcoming sequel with Max Caulfield in it, as well as the prequel and the other two mainline Life Is Strange games. And I bought the entire Life Is Strange comic as it was coming out, and want to read it all the way through when the actual game is fresh in my memory.
Now that I have a Switch I want to get and play Metroid Dread, because I've been avoiding spoilers for it all this time and I would like to stop doing that, and I would also really like to have a new Metroid gameplay experience.
I asked my friend and number one fan Fip for a recommendation of suggested reading to learn more about Incan and pre-Incan Quechua-speaking peoples so that I could better characterize aspects of Cherry's character in Galaxy Federal. She recommended The Saga of the Borderlands. I've bought a used copy of the first book, The Days of the Deer, and it is literally the top book on my Pile of Books by my bed. I've even committed to trying to read the two other books in the trilogy in Spanish (since there is no English translation) if I enjoy the first one.
Fip herself has a number of works that I have been itching to read for quite some time, both out of artistic solidarity as a fellow artist and also because I'm just genuinely interested in what kinds of things a person who likes my work would create with their work.
I have long wanted to read Almost Nowhere ever since another online friend of mine, nostalgebraist, finished writing it, but I told myself that I would read his earlier work Floornight first and so they're both on my List. I'm actually kind of afraid to read these because his work The Northern Caves was heavily inspiring for me with regard to the Galaxy Federal Inaugural Novel and my fear is that I'm going to read these other works and discover heavy serendipitous overlap, just because I think he and I sometimes tend to have quite similar ideas (albeit thinking about them differently).
Another friend's mom recommended a book to me that my dad recommended like 20 years ago, The Map that Changed the World. This is another book that I've already bought, again used, and it is sitting right under The Days of the Deer in the Pile beside my bed. (And is the only other unread book in said Pile; the others are The Lord of the Rings, which I managed to finally reread a number of months ago, and my own book Tokens of Zeal: Words from a Vanished Age.) I am really looking forward to pleasantly surprising my friend's mom with word that I've read this book, and it would be a nice homage to Dad to finally read it as well.
I've been trying to complete my "Grand Tour of the Virus Comix Online Empire"—i.e., all the online works by Winston Rowntree—for like three years now. As part of this tour I've been sending him detailed notes, but it's been so long since my peopleWatching watchthrough that I'm going to have to rewatch it to compose notes. (I didn't think to start sending him notes until I got to the old Captain Estar webcomic.) I "rushed" my Captain Estar notes when I learned that he was doing a rebooted novelization of the same premise, which became Shirley Estar Goes to Heaven and which I highly recommend you read. There's a new peopleWatching season coming out in a year or two so now I want to expedite that, but I also have to go through all of Subnormality (the best webcomic of all time) and various other works of his.
This is all just the stuff at the highest level of priority for me to get to. There are, like, three more tiers below this—all of them longer. And I'm prolly gonna be playing Pokémon Arceus for months, because I am taking my sweet time with it. (I don't get to play video games nearly as often as I would like to, and this one is a really cathartic end-of-day treat, which is proving especially helpful because of the health problems that are making it difficult for me to get to sleep sometimes.) Oh lord and I haven't even touched on any YouTube videos or music works! 😰
And then, of course, there is my own creative work also pressing for my time.
I just find it maddening and ludicrous and comical and tragic all at once that I am so slow at both consuming and creating work.
I am molasses in January. 😭😭😭 How do y'all do it?!!
Actually, I don't know if I would truly want to consume a high amount of choice media on the regular. I know this sounds melodramatic, but, whenever some consumer activity competes for my extremely limited leisure time, I'm like "I have to finish writing as many of my books as possible before I die," and I really mean it. And I also have a kind of tainted image of people who spend all their time consuming media due to the fact that my abusive mom spent most of her time watching TV and reading books when I was a kid. That worked its way into me as a worldview that "You have to do more than just consume; you have to do something with the energy that comes from digesting the things you consume." Which I realize isn't objectively true...but it also kinda totally aesthetically is true, at least if you're an artist or have the soul of an artist, which I grant most people are not and do not.

9/20/2023 — Hello, studying world. Today I start my journey of learning Korean with my first university Korean class (online). We didn't have any work on the first day, so all I did was read the syllabus (the most basic, non-informative syllabus I've ever read, ha), set up my new desk space, and updated my student bio on Canvas. I haven't been a college student for about 3 years, so it felt like I accomplished a lot. When the readings and assignments start coming in, I'm sure reality will hit.
I've always wanted to learn Korean, and my goal is to reach a near-fluent level, but I know it'll be hard, especially with my full-time work priorities. Eventually, being able to teach and work in translation is my goal. FYI, Chinese, Thai, and Japanese are on my list, too, but I'll be realistic and focus on one language for the foreseeable future.
Last week, as it so happens, I had to move from my family and childhood home, and I am lacking in the positivity department rn, so I think having a place to chronicle my studies and the progress I make will be good for me. I tend to start a new blog on here when I'm having a hard time, and it helps.
So, the plan is to take two full academic years of Korean (that's 3 quarters per year at my university). That's just how much Korean the school offers. I graduated in 2020 from this same university with a BA in English with a focus on professional and creative writing, and I really enjoyed the overall experience studying here.
I spent a whole lot of time obsessing over grammar, reading new and old literature, trying to understand poetry, and just enjoying the inner peace I felt when writing fiction. It was maybe my most happy time because I had no other real responsibilities or worries besides school. All I did was read and write.
Anyhow, fast forward to now, after pondering different language learning options (which are limited in my area), I decided to take my Korean classes at the university level because the classes will show up on my official university transcripts, and I imagine that will be best when I apply for future Korean-related jobs. I am also hoping that by taking university-level language classes, they will have some sort of superior level of... intensity? accuracy? efficiency? Something like that. Granted, this route isn't the best for my finances, as there is no aid for non-matriculated post-grads, and the cost of a single class is quite ridiculous. But alas, here I am, with an empty wallet and hope in my eyes.
Upon reading the syllabus today, which could basically be summarized as "TBD," I realized the textbook I bought, the textbook I waited over a week for, the one listed on the online course materials list, is, in fact, not the correct textbook.
And, icing on the bitter cake, the correct textbook appears to be a rare Pokémon that isn't available anywhere except the dark corners of eBay, where shipping will take at least 2 weeks. Like how did other students get this? Did they order it two months in advance? Meanwhile, I have my first assignments and readings due Monday.
I quite literally just sent an email to my professor and asked what I should do, so we'll see what she says, but I really wasn't hoping to be that one student, emailing the professor about an issue on day 1.
Since this is my first post here, here also is a tiny bit about me:
My name is Asya ("Asia"), and I'm a 24-year-old English grad based in Washington; no, not the one followed by DC, but the state with a lot of rain and trees. Twilight? Starbucks? Amazon? Yes, that one.
Since graduating in 2020, I've been a freelance editor and writer. I'm taking Korean both for passion and for work purposes, and I really should have started sooner. But I guess we're all on our own timelines.
I've been on Tumblr for a long, long time, but I've never been part of the studyblr sector. I'm glad to be here. :)

The Importance of Amy Rose in Frontiers
[But first I gotta praise the cutscenes of this game]
Can I just say, these cutscenes are a massive step up from previous games. Ever since Colors, a lot of the cutscenes have felt static and sorta empty. Characters move, but then they just completely stop, no subtle movements or not a whole lot of emoting to anything, as if they just sorta snap in poses (Lost World was probably the worst it got imo). Frontiers cutscenes throughout the main story help make these characters feel more alive and in constant motion! And sure, in the side story cutscenes specifically, characters just stand and move mouths, but it’s best to think of those ones as the equivalent to talking to an NPC in any video game: no crazy new animated video, just two characters sharing dialogue, that’s all that’s important.
The writing is done by longtime Sonic Archie and IDW comic book writer: Ian Flynn. It’s been told he does a really great job writing the characters of the franchise and seems to really understand who they are. When it was announced that he was finally the main writer of this game, everyone online was hyped and were eager to see how his first job as a game writer would go. And after going through this whole game’s story…..YEA HE COOKED, HE SEASONED THE MEAL AND EVERYTHING!
Since I’ve made a comically large essay talking about the Action Chain Challenges a while back, I wanna also take a moment to talk about more parts of this game like the story and writing. I’d rather split this discussion into different posts talking about each character or specific moments
Starting with of course-
———————
Amy Rose
is the first friend you (try to) save in this game. And I gotta say……her being the first friend is a lot more significant than many might think.
I think one of the most obvious things to consider is how much of an improvement she is from past iterations during the 2010s, where she actually feels less like random Sonic cheerleader and more like her own character with her own goals and ideology. While she did have a more significant role in Boom and in Forces, first off it’s hard to give much credit to Boom considering everything else that plagued it, and secondly while Forces has her being chief in command or…something, her character isn’t really presented well, she just gives orders to Sonic/The Avatar and that’s it. Outside of that, arguably she’s been quite a controversial character throughout the franchise, with many misbelieving she’s some psycho girl who will force Sonic into marrying her due to how people misinterpreted her playful chase for Sonic in Heroes, or games like Rush unfortunately actually depicting her as such 🥲 (for Pokémon fans reading this, think like when people misinterpreted Nemona as a yandere, except if it actually did have effect on how she’s officially presented in the future).
Having the controversial character of the main team of the franchise be the first character you get to see how newly recruited Ian Flynn writes her is one of the greatest introductions to a new audience on Flynn’s writing and knowledge of the characters, and she in general helps sets the stage of what’s to come for the rest of the game’s story. For example: You learn about these little stone creatures that inhabit the islands called Koco. Who better to be the one to make Sonic/The Player slow down a little from their race to save his friends and take a moment to look at these little creatures than Amy Rose. She’s always shown her appreciation for the smaller parts of Sonic’s adventure, just like back in the old days saving a Flicky, talking to Shadow and his feelings on the world, or helping out a Chao find it’s lost relative; it’s no surprise she’d be interacting with these creatures and trying to help them out and find out what they’re in need of.
There’s even a slight scuffle between Amy and Sonic where he doesn’t want to continue taking detours and get back to trying to find the emeralds so he can get her and others back to normal, having Amy a bit taken aback by him wanting to just abandon the Kocos, but eventually agrees and understands (it’s ok though because he still ends up having to deal with them anyways since they’re a bit central to the story lol).
After doing a bit of progress, the player watches a scene where they’re all teleported to a flashback of some mysterious Chaos-like alien beings (dubbed as The Ancients) in the middle of some sort of battlefield, with Kocos in their bodies, specifically one of them being the main one you’ve been helping. Two of them finding each other and share a hug before a sudden explosion brushes everything away, and Sonic and Amy are teleported back to the present, where we see that the same two Kocos involved in the flashback have passed away.
I just love how, quiet everything becomes. It isn’t suddenly, “this happened, time to move on” like in Forces, characters involved actually take in what they witnessed and talk. In the next scene, Sonic approaches Amy again after reassuring her to take a moment while he continues to find more emeralds, and she explains what she witnessed in her words, “Love that transcended time”. She goes on to show how what she saw has made her think about how what she wants to do when this whole adventure is over, showing her love to everyone in the world, but has worries it could drift her away from Sonic. Sonic of course continues to reassure that things will be alright and he hopes to hear what she does in the future.
The whole moment between these two characters in these two cutscenes, it takes the time it needs to establish character personalities, how the tone of the whole story will play out, and how much these characters care about each other. All of this wouldn’t have happened if Amy wasn’t there to introduce you to the Koco. Seeing her have this moment just being lost in thought about how she wants to approach the rest of the world going forward, it’s a nice change of pace and also plays into a theme of the whole game: love. Romantic, platonic, or family, you’ll get to see it the more you play, and a certain AI character introduced to this game will eventually start to see what it means to love or be loved and how much it can affect a living being like Sonic and be this driving force.
——
Oh yea also said certain AI character accuses Sonic of being a danger to the world, and there was Amy immediately defending him from such slander, another thing she’s done in the past against a certain white hedgehog :)))
——
She also helps introduce the theme of living life to the fullest. After seeing two Ancients get together right before their presumed death, and the two Kocos finishing their unfinished business, Amy clearly wants to make sure she can do everything she wants to do before she ever passes. Like later friends, she wants to take advantage of the life she has and continue to explore and grow more. Again, the whole scene presenting all of this is very calm and collected, it’s just so nice to have character moments again and these friends (debatably two who are into each other) just talk out about their feelings, which we’ll get to see more of as the game goes on.

Pokémon Reborn Screenshot Let's Play: Chapter 26
Hello again, readers! Are you ready for another chapter of chaos? Of course you are, I doubt you’d be reading this post otherwise! And I’m sure this chapter will be quite chaotic indeed, considering everything that happened in the last chapter. Last time…oh, last time. What can I say about last time? It was a lot of stuff- it was exploration, it was battling, it was new teammates, it was SEVERAL questions, it was me spending about 4 hours grinding for a Gym challenge.
I won’t beat around the bush much longer- let’s get into the recap for a better understanding of all the absolute baggage Xera was left with coming out of Chapter 25.
CW: mentions of suicide, dismemberment, and death
After helping with some advertising for Central Salon (in the form of battling a Tsareena), the stylist gives Xera a Bounsweet as thanks, who she names Mango.
Exploring Obsidia Slums, Xera finds a hungry Makuhita, who she is able to catch and names Knuckle.
Visiting the same totem pole where she caught Cephalon, Xera encounters a Natu. She catches it and names the tiny bird Quetza.
In Obsidia Slums, Xera finds a playground-like area. In addition to catching a Shiny Trubbish who she names Odie, she also witnesses some familiar-looking Scraggy being taken away by a gang of Pangoro. Xera heads into the Slums Playground to give chase.
Even after defeating all three Pangoro to save the Scraggy, the three bear Pokémon make one last attempt to attack Xera all at once. Luckily, she is saved by the intervention of a certain Scrafty. As Scrafty begins to leave with her Scraggy, one decides it wants to stay with Xera, which Scrafty accepts. Xera agrees to take Scraggy in, and she names him Rumble.
Down in the dark recesses of the ruined Underground Railnet, Xera not only finds the Flash TMX (which she cannot use yet), but hitting a metal pole causes an Aron to fall on her. She catches it and names him Wulfrum.
Returning to North Obsidia Ward, Xera is given a new task from Maxwell of the Magma Gang: to assist in a complete takeover of Aqua Gang’s hideout in Lapis Ward, driving the rival gang out for good.
At the Aqua Gang base, Xera provides a distraction for Maxwell and Break to come in and cause havoc, but Xera is left with facing off against Archer, the Aqua Gang’s leader, herself. She wins the hard-fought battle and the Aqua Gang is forced to retreat.
Back at the Magma Gang base, Maxwell rewards Xera with a certain Pokémon that is a staple of the gang: a Houndour, who is named Obsidian.
That night, Xera visits Obsidia Alleyway to find a Zangoose rummaging in the trash. She battles and catches it, naming him Gash.
Xera also visits the Beryl Cemetery; one of the pumpkins reacts to her Soul Candle, causing a Pumpkaboo to appear. Xera catches the ghostly Pokémon, naming him Jack.
Atop an apartment building in Beryl Ward, Xera spots the unmistakable image of the late Corey. After he escapes, Xera pursues him into Peridot Ward and then North Obsidia Ward before finally cornering him. There, “Corey” reveals himself to actually be an illusion disguise made by a Zorua. Xera battles and catches the mischievous (and disrespectful) fox, naming him Mal.
Visiting the Abandoned Power Plant (or Yureyu Power Plant), Xera learns from Ame that the reason the train she arrived into the Reborn region on was attacked was because of Ame herself; evidently, Team Meteor sought to kill her specifically. Ame apologizes profusely to Xera for what happened, but is unable to concretely say that it will be fully taken care of.
While preparing to take on Shade and his Ghost-types, several evolutions take place: Obsidian into Houndoom, Ace into Swellow, Kirby into Jigglypuff, and Wulfrum into Lairon. Additionally, the electromagnetic energy present in the power plant allows Prong to evolve into Vikavolt.
As she activates panels to open the way to Shade, Xera is shown events on screens throughout the plant: Corey’s suicide, Agent Grass being beheaded (or dismembered?), Amaria also committing suicide with a red-haired person being unable to prevent it, and a Garchomp cutting down a person with purplish hair.
At the heart of the power plant, Shade reveals his true face and battles Xera. It’s a difficult fight, but Xera comes out on top. This not only earns her the Omen Badge, but also the right to hear Shade finally speak as he turns the power back on and shows her some security camera footage.
The footage displays the Underground Railnet, where Cain, Charlotte, Shelly, Heather, Noel, and Anna watch the previously locked doors open. However, a certain Team Meteor commander- Commander Redeye, revealed to be the previously-mentioned Commander Sirius- appears for an ambush, ordering his Grunts to capture the group.
Anna tosses…something to Cain, urging him to run. Cain is able to escape with the help of Nidoking, but Heather and the others are captured- as per the agreement with Dr. Connal.
Suddenly, Agent Grass appears. She delivers the news of both her own promotion to Agent as well as the selection of a new Systems Manager, with Sirius mentioning something happening regarding Ace. Agent Grass speaks disrespectfully to Sirius before giving him a strange warning, then leaves. Annoyed by Agent Grass’s impudence, Sirius and his underlings depart to continue their work.
As the camera feed cuts out, Shade leaves Xera with a strange riddle or prophecy of sorts before she is free to leave.
Yeah- it was a lot, in both meanings of the phrase. But the main thing now is that Heather and the other kids are in danger all over again, and I am NOT gonna let it stay that way! Even if Xera has to beat up Connal again, even if she has to beat up Sirius, even if she has to beat up many more Meteor Grunts, we are GOING to save them! This is personal, this is war! And that starts with catching up with Cain! So let’s take care of that first, make a plan, and go from there! I am SO ready for more violence!

I have Irida and Adaman in Pokémon Masters so I thought I'd give you an update because I recall you being unsettled by the concept. Their event had them fall through a rift like the one about Mount Coronet and, though they argued, quickly accepted oh we're in the future/far away (a trial from Dialga/Palkia), displaced just like the player characters/warden Ingo. Then event with time distortions happen, Adaman and Irida get confused about Arezu (Mars) and Coin (Saturn) respectively, day is saved, but the Rift they came through is still there and accessible. The two decide to stay for now to learn about the people and Pokemon's bonds and act as help for any future past time travelers coming through (future Hisuian pairs ayooo) before heading back. Irida is scheduled to be in the lodge next month (minigame where you talk with the characters) but her voice fits and I enjoy the dialogues I've gotten so far - she has learned about gym leaders and decides she would be an ice type gym leader, she's excited to meet the Kahunas of Alola and find out what kind of Pokémon they are (wait they're not pokemon?). Adaman is in the Lodge already. His events center on him asking your character to teach him how to use a phone, and then waking you early with an ominous phonecall before revealing he made food as thanks but got excited. Two of his "Very Interesting" conversational topics you can choose is "Melli" and "Mai"! I can report with more as they come if you'd be interested! (I was worried too but they've been handled well I believe)
Thanks so much for this! I really appreciate you taking the time to do this for me, and I’m happy that you’ve been enjoying the game ^^
There’s some interesting stuff here, and some of it makes me really happy because it’s very much based on canon details from pla! They’re also details that I personally treasure about the characters, so it’s cool that the writers used/expanded on them and funnily enough both come from (or are confirmed) by the daybreak update.
Not to “um, actually” (I’m excited to share information!!) but this wouldn’t be the first time that Irida has learned of gym leaders, or even expressed her desire to become one! She actually learns of the concept during a conversation at the very end of the update (also Adaman and Mai’s faces alskalaldjsk)
The mention of Adaman cooking literally made me smile so hard because he is heavily implied/is confirmed to have a passion (or at least an interest) in cooking. As seen here Adaman reveals that he’s been spending time learning from Beni, more specifically recipes (and also ninja skills pfff)
He is also seen helping out and serving food in the end titles photo. Adaman is totally a foodie
Irida mistaking the kahunas as pokemon is absolutely adorable lmao. I can’t blame her for being confused, what with her having no context and all, but it’s still very endearing. Also Adaman calling someone super early is totally an Adaman thing to do. He is a canon early bird, and we know he has a tendency to just. Do things. Abruptly. So I think that really fits his character well.
I do have a few concerns with some of what I’ve read here, but nothing too major. Again, thanks so much for the info! I really appreciate it 💜

Any headcanons for characters you wanna share?
Aha. The time has come for me to answer this question.
The thing is, I *don't* have any headcanons for the main "canon" pokémon characters. I let them be. So technically, nothing for them is canon in my head. Not even the fact that Green Oak has a crush on Red. I respect the canon for what it is, and leave it at that.
But if we're talking about slightly *altered* versions of them, such as what I write for them... ahaha. Yes. That's when I allow myself to become a little creative. (The only issue is, there are different alternate timelines. I'll give you a basic rundown of what goes on in my head.)
more under the cut
Pokespe Inspired (Universe 1)
This is the first story I attempted to write, and as all things written by a child, the contents are a little wild. I'll say what I plan to carry through, however:
Green Oak has a crush on Red. Duh. It was clear the moment he doubled around. No, he wasn't "waiting" on you. PFfft. He just wants to prove he's the best. *Ensue depression after Red's disappearance*. Red, however, is on the aroace spectrum, which means they have to learn and navigate what an intimate/romantic relationship means to them, if they even have one.
Green feels a lot of emotions, which leads him to act irrationally at times. Red is overall a lot more introverted (not to say more calm, but appears to be) which can be hard for Green to read. Like a hot/cold dynamic
Professor Oak, at one point, became the Pokémon Champion due to a mixture of interest in pokémon and perserverence. He never, however, understood the bonds between pokémon, and ultimately dropped the job to pursue studying them. His lack of knowledge considering the bonds between pokémon is what makes him unable to gauge how much Green's pokémon like him, and ties into the fact he also bad at connecting to his very human family
Green's mother is the spoiled daughter of Professor Oak who was also very type A- and so dominant only her last name transferred to her children. Aspects of his personality, such as his cleanliness, and at times deep desire for perfection and insecurity, is a result of her high demands for overachievement
Blue (F) has experienced with traumatized children (Silver) and taking care of Yellow is natural for her because of it. After the events of the main story, she goes back to seek for Yellow, and emotionally and physically helps her grow into her own.
Kanto is generally misogynistic when it comes to female trainers in power and Blue does her damnest, resorting sometimes even to radio broadcast, to slowly shift public opinion on the matter.
Red's primary goal is to befriend pokémon, understand them, and change the region's attitude towards pokémon training (such as with whips, etc.) He doesn't take the championship seriously by the end, which infuriates Green, and only beats Green to bring some finality. Red initially partakes in media to discourage whipping and abusive practices, and stays for a little bit, before ultimately receeding to the mountains due to how overwhelming and impossible it is for one kid to change the world. Red is the one who makes the stairs in the mountain as a subconscious plea for someone to come up and find him, even if he won't go back down himself
There is way more on the second gen I could talk about, but I haven't even drawn any of them yet, so that's for the future I presume
FRLG Inspired (Universe 2)
Unfortunately, in the first universe, Blue (F) ultimately cannot surpass Red and Green, has to deal with the disappointment, and shift priorities. It seems that if only the female trainer exists, she can be the Champion. However, if she were to exist alongside Red, Red always has to win. This AU is an exploration of that notion.
Red and Leaf have the same mother, they look similar, therefore they are twins. However, in the games, they are never seen together. Thus, while Red is raised by his mother (if player chooses Red), this story has Leaf travelling with her father for the majority of their lives, making them estranged siblings. But no hard feelings. (Mostly).
By the time Leaf goes to pick up the pokéballs, only Bulbasaur is left.
Blue Oak is a lot ruder in this AU than he is in the other stories I'm writing, where his and Red's relationship is the core focus. Which is to say, he acts exactly as he does in the game, always trying to prove he's better and one-ups Red.
Leaf is never mentioned beyond FRLG, such as in HGSS. Yet, she must have existed. I imagine her to take a much more relaxed (thus hidden/less flashy) approach to the journey than Red and Blue do. While the boys take the spotlight, she takes unconventional paths around the region, focusing on befriending pokémon. Does she fail at waking Snorlax because she doesn't have the pokéflute? Well, fine, despite not knowing fly, she'll tell Pidgeot to fly over the dang thing, take a running start, and alley-oop over that giant monster.
Due to her more mischevious, shadowed nature (and harkening to her name) Leaf usually favors pokémon such as Butterfree, Crobat, Parasect, Venonat, Golduck, Victreebel, Cloyster, Hypno, Tangela, and Mewtwo. Her more mysterious nature sets her apart from the usual peppy female protagonists. There is something unsettling and amusing/curious about her. If you get decieved by her innocent smile, well...
The test as to whether any of this matters, if she can surpass the popularity of the stars of Kanto, comes to a head at the end of the story.
During HGSS, while Red is on the mountain and Blue handling the gym, she goes to Hoenn (referencing a 2005 postcard of her with a combusken), where she meets May. Traveling with May (who is a climate change activist, thanks to RSE's theme of, well, climate change) is a welcome break from the box she was forced into during her time in Kanto. An experienced, lightly jaded adventurist and an inspiring adventurer with a heart of gold make for an extremely heartwarming journey
Wow! I didn't think I'd have so much to say when I saw this, I was genuinely scrambling for headcanons until I laid out some of the stories I have swirling around my head. Apparently there was a lot in there! The more you know.

You know I have read so many pokeshipping fan fictions that I find it interesting when writers give Ash’s character different arcs. Let’s be honest, Ash is a pretty two dimensionally written 10 year old kid, who mostly thinks about food and Pokémon, battles are what he is passionate about, but over the years, we haven’t seen much development in other aspects to his personality so I can understand why it’s so hard to gauge how he would be as an adult. Would he be a romantic guy, would he still be this goofy adorable munchkin that he is, how he would mature and turn out to be. I don’t know for a character as dense as Ash( though he is adorable and I love him that way) it’s hard for me to imagine him actually liking somebody. How do you perceive him as an adult?
I love reading people's interpretations of Ash as an adult because, like you said, it can really be left up for interpretation. He's pretty multifaceted, even if the writers have been less inclined to delve as deeply into that in recent years, so you can explore it in different ways.
My view of Ash as an adult is that he is still a goofball, still sugar sweet, able to make friends wherever he goes and super passionate about Pokémon. He does mature, for the most part. He never does learn how to cook and isn't the best at cleaning up after himself. But he takes excellent care of his Pokémon, is easily able to get himself to and from places on his own, and really doesn't complain about anything. I don't ever see him becoming less stubborn. Ash is going to do what he wants to do, and no one can really change his mind.
I don't imagine him having a good grasp on romance outside of Misty. If other women flirt with him, or show obvious attraction, he's oblivious to it. But for whatever reason, he's able to connect the dots with Misty. He knows he loves her, he knows her personality very well, what she likes and doesn't like. He knows how to surprise her and make her feel special. His biggest obstacle with that is his memory. He's shown to be pretty forgetful, and often allows battles or other adventures with Pokémon to distract him. I don't imagine that would change very much as an adult. I can easily see Ash forgetting a date or important anniversary because he's so distracted.
I honestly feel like I've always loved envisioning Ash as a dad because that specific role captures the different facets of his personality so beautifully. He would definitely be the "fun" parent: the one who lets the kids eat candy for breakfast, goofs around with them, and isn't really a rule enforcer. But he would also love them so fiercely and just be the most cuddly, soft hearted father you've ever met. He'd be so involved with them (changing diapers, giving them baths, feeding them, reading to them, going to their activities...whatever is it, he'd be super eager to do it and you'd never hear a negative peep out of him.) He'd also be very protective of them and not be afraid to scold them if they put themselves in danger, because he knows he'd never forgive himself if anything ever happened to them. He is also mature enough to admit that's hypocritical, because he was extremely reckless as a kid and has only improved marginally as an adult. And knowing that only makes it so much worse for him.

I'd like a matchup for Diabolik Lovers and Black Butler, please~
I'm a 27 years old kindergarten teacher and use she/her pronouns, and I'm heterosexual. Originally I'm from Germany, so my native language is German but my English is very good as well. I can also speak French. My wish is to learn Latin someday. I'm a Virgo sun, Taurus moon with a Sagittarius rising. My MBIT is INTJ and I'm a 5w6.
I've got long brown hair paired with green-grey eyes and a round face. I'm 5'7 tall and I'm actually overweight though that isn't really that seeable as I naturally have big thighs, wide hips and a big booty - but a small bust. Genuinely not liking my shape. I'm very near-sighted, so I always wear rectangular glasses.
My personality is... Boring. I'm your typical party pooper. I got a stick up in my ass and I don't know how to have fun. I'm a hard working individual, very intelligent. I'm more of a quiet person and don’t talk *that* much actually, I'm also a very serious person. Jokes, sarcasm and irony are hard for me. I don't understand them. I'm very socially awkward and heavily struggle with emotions and socializing in general - I'm autistic. I'm always trying my best to be polite and respectful and I expect that from other people as well. I do try to be understanding and sympathetic but I struggle. I don't like being around too many people. I prefer animals especially cats. I'm quite of a loner and introverted.
Likes: books, science (mainly chemistry and biology), psychology, medicine, wolves, dragons, board games (chess, I love chess; and other), tea (really like black tea, Earl Grey, fruit tea), video games, history, dinosaurs, pasta dishes, children, vanilla smell
Dislikes: laziness, rude people, heat, my cat allergy (I adore cats but I'm allergic it's an endless struggle of being around them but at the same time being heavily allergic), potatoes, sports, Maths, fish, cooking by myself (I can't cook, at all), yelling, screaming,
Hobbys: reading (novels, book about cats, wolves, dinosaurs, psychology, biology...), writing (storys, poems mainly), gaming, playing the piano
Passion: personally they're actually special interests, so that'd be cats (I can and will infodump about them), Pokémon and Lord of the Rings
Thank youuu~~
After a long time of thinking 💭 your match is...
Carla Tsukinami
How it started:
Carla Tsukinami, the enigmatic First Blood vampire, had always been a man of duty and pride, rarely showing his true emotions to anyone. He was known for his cold demeanor and his unwavering commitment to his race and family. But fate has a way of surprising even the most stoic of beings.
One crisp autumn afternoon, as Carla wandered the streets of a quiet European town, he happened upon a quaint kindergarten. Curiosity piqued, he peered through the window and saw you. Your glasses framed your green-grey eyes, and your long brown hair gave you a gentle air of serenity. Carla, always drawn to intelligence, was captivated.
You, the serious and reserved teacher, were an anomaly to Carla. He was accustomed to loud and emotional women, but you were different. Your quiet demeanor and love for books and science intrigued him. He watched from the shadows as you taught the children, your patience and kindness evident in every interaction. As weeks passed, Carla found himself visiting the kindergarten more frequently, always observing you from afar. One day, he approached you, his voice as cold as ever, and asked about your passion for science. To his surprise, you began to explain chemistry and biology, your eyes lighting up with a rare enthusiasm.
Over time, Carla's visits became more frequent, and he even found himself joining you in a game of chess, a game you loved. Slowly, a bond formed between the proud vampire and the introverted teacher. Carla, with his sense of duty to his race, knew he had to be careful. But he couldn't deny the warmth he felt in your presence, a feeling he had long suppressed. And so, an unexpected love story began to unfold—one where duty and pride met with quiet intelligence and acceptance, proving that even the most unlikely of pairs could find happiness in each other's company.
General headcanons:
💘Your shared love for board games, especially chess, became a bonding activity for both of you.
💘One of your favorite pastimes together was visiting the local library. Carla was amazed by your vast knowledge of books and often listened attentively as you discussed various topics, from history to psychology.
💘You introduced Carla to the world of video games, and he surprised you by picking up gaming quickly.
💘Your passion for animals, especially cats and wolves, resonates with Carla's love for creatures of the night.
William T. Spears
How it started:
In the dimly lit streets of Victorian-era London, where fog veiled the city in mystery, William T. Spears, continued his somber existence. His duties as a grim reaper were performed with unwavering precision, never swayed by emotions or distractions. One gloomy afternoon, fate intertwined his path with yours. You, the serious and introverted kindergarten teacher with a passion for books and science, were on your way home from the local library. Your rectangular glasses perched on your nose, you clutched a stack of books close to your chest. As you passed a quiet alley, you stumbled, books scattering across the cobblestones. You sighed in annoyance, you just had to drop your books near a creepy alleyway.
That's when William, with his usual composed demeanor, appeared like a shadowy sentinel. Without a word, he bent to help you collect your precious tomes, his long fingers deftly arranging them. Your green-grey eyes met his, and for a moment, time seemed to stand still. You, the socially awkward soul, found yourself strangely drawn to this enigmatic figure. His aloofness mirrored your own serious disposition, creating an unspoken understanding.
Over the weeks, your chance encounters became deliberate meetings. William, intrigued by your intellect and your quiet fascination with all things scientific, found himself venturing out of his rigid world to accompany you to the library or sit in silence as you immersed yourself in a book. You introduced him to the joys of chess, a game that demanded strategy and focus, and he embraced it with the same precision he applied to his duties. Slowly, a bond formed between you, bridging the gap between his stoicism and your social awkwardness.
Though you struggled with sarcasm and irony, he appreciated your honesty and sincerity. Your passion for cats, Pokémon, and Lord of the Rings fascinated him, and he was an eager listener to your infodumps. (Let’s pretend those things already existed back in the Victorian era).
In the end, it was the quiet moments, the stolen glances, and the shared interests that revealed the depths of your affection. Your love story, though unconventional, bloomed like a fragile flower in the shadow of death, a testament that even the most serious souls can find love in the unlikeliest of places.
General headcanons:
💘William's appreciation for precision and strategy aligns perfectly with your love for chess.
💘William invites you over for tea parties. You soon discover that he has a soft spot for Earl Grey, which you both enjoy together.
💘In your quest to learn Latin, you decide to study together. This shared goal brings you even closer as you work through the intricacies of the language.
💘While cats, Pokémon, and Lord of the Rings might not be William's primary interests, he supports you in pursuing your passions wholeheartedly.
I’d appreciate it if you’d reblog this, and I hope you enjoyed reading this <3

Characters Whom I believe that would be that one person “You got games on your phone” if MC brought a working phone with a charger and some how wifi-
PT: 2
Featuring: Dia, Tino, Jasper, Knight, Grayson, Sherry and Violet
Warning: Crack and Cursing
———————————————————————————
Dia: Good luck, he subscribed yourself to a Netflix, Disney +, Crunchy roll, Hulu, Amazon Prime etc. Knowing damn well you don’t have an income to pay for all of those apps-
He also likes learning from social media the differences between both of your worlds. But we’re here for crack so cut out the wholesomeness-
He started rage playing those stupid adds where the player purposely does bad to get you to download and guess what? He did download and now he’s huffing in gas breathing heavily playing it.
So now you have a lot of unnecessary games and Dia is now saying movie references and pretends not to know that it was while your freaking out.
—-
Tino: He goes on Facebook like an old lady and giggles at minion memes, he didn’t even watch Despicable Me on the apps that fucking Dia downloaded and got a membership on 💀
He goes out of his way to show it to you and Lynt and it’s really cute except it’s not funny what so ever
“:0 Look MC they’re little yellow monsters they look cute ☺️ This is so funny.”
That’s the minion meme he showed you. The laugh you pretend to give him was a lot more funny then the meme itself-
He also likes looking at cooking videos. And he saw the Duolingo memes everyone probably knows about the; “Looks like you forgot your Spanish lessons-“ and Tino took it seriously and started freaking out especially when he saw it downloaded and you had a notification on your phone.
He almost through it out a window but luckily Lynt was there to stop him 💀
—-
Jasper: bro made a Tinder and An Omegle account and thought it was a type of place to make friends but the dumbass was then greeted by those weird freaks on there
he also was roasted tf out of by lil ass kids because they said and I quote. “HA LOOK HE HAS GRANNY GLASSES-“ Bro cried.
Bro also likes to listen to rap song and likes rock music, he also saw the Emo style and ran with it. Bro became and edge lord over night.
He also likes to make those horrific IMovie movies. They’re low quality but everyone has fun. He does post it so- Now he’s a meme on the internet
—-
Knight: Good luck your fyp is now full of cat memes, cat videos and your camera roll? Cat pictures.
It’s really cute how he laughs at them.
Also bro download Fortnight- “TOA COME GET YOUR MIDGET-“
He learned so much curses and insults from playing with 5th grades and you can hear the yells from another fucking building- It’s scary how much anger he has locked in. 😦
Another thing is he likes Pokémon Go and animal Jam
—-
Grayson: He doesn’t use it that much but when he does, I like to imagine bro is a fanfiction writer 💀-
The other consorts pay him to write fanfiction about them and you. He has a Wattpad and tumblr account. He also has used your hard earned money for fan art commissions.
He also got disappointed when he found out you don’t have a printer for that monstrosity he’s been paying for 💀-
He also learned how to do TikTok dances and him, Roy and Sherry have all been making tiktoks.
He got addicted to Girls go games 💀
—-
Sherry: She learned instinctively how to use your phone it’s amazing how everyone else was like fucking Dinosaurs.
Also now has a TikTok Cult fan base and has more followers than Charli Damelio it’s amazing-
She also likes to go on Reddit and is now a Reddit user and it’s scary because she no has a high quality sense of humor.
—-
Violet: Immediately made a Tinder account for a date, is sad that they’re from another world. You’re jealous.
She payed Grayson to write fanfiction about you and her
She started giggling, kicking her feet, twirling her hair and while reading it and Fenn walks in to join her on reading “MC x reader” smut.
The look on your face when you got your phone back after one whole day was concerning.
She also likes to look at you camera roll and social media accounts and it all fun and games til she got a notification from one of your relatives with your old baby pictures.-
