to be clear, I think Rose Tyler being an often-selfish character is great. I think it's great because real women are selfish. Real women get petty. Real women hear their ex boyfriend say he's going out with a mutual acquaintance and get unfairly jealous and real women then say things like "she's a bit big" when they shouldn't and they have no right. Real women can be monsters, and Rose Tyler is relatable and I love how she is written and I love her, thanks for listening

I DEMAND THAT YOU TELL ME ABOUT YOUR BLORBOS (if you want)
So I had to double check what Blorbo means, and apparently it means your favourite character? In which case may I present a good % of the FE3H cast? ;P
I just... I love most of the students in different ways for different things?
Claude is just... Claude. He has so many layers to him, being both incredibly simple (in terms of what he ultimately wants) and also stupidly complex (in how he goes about getting those things)? He wants to make connections, make friends, bring everyone together, but has been burned too many times while growing up to ever really trust anyone. He's always waiting for the other shoe to drop, for that knife to land in his back. His closest friend is Hilda who openly shits on Almyra because she's a casual racist, and that has to kill him on some level, wondering what she'd say about him if she knew, and yet she's still his best friend who he openly mourns when she goes down fighting for him? Who he can't stand the thought of losing in Hopes? He has to be in charge, of everything. Has to know all the details, make all the plans. And then makes plans for in case the first ones fail. He never stops thinking, calculating, digging up all the information available, because knowledge is power. Not just for blackmail, but because understanding your opponent means you can predict them.
Claude's just great, and I could pick him apart for hours.
Also? He has a wyvern. So, ya know. I'm very simple and predictable, ok?
I also love Leonie. She's solid, very open and honest. Kinda stubborn, but open to learning and can admit when she's wrong. Puts Lorenz in his place which is always a bonus. I want her to be my friend!
Same with Raphael and Caspar to some degree. Caspar is a little less willing to the whole learning thing, but with enough rope to tie him to the chair so he can't run away I think he'd eventually listen? Raph sees the good in everyone and everything, always willing to help, and stands up for his beliefs. They're muscle heads, but fundamentally kind people who deserve way more love than they get
Marianne is a peach who straight up talks to animals! Hilda is a riot when she pulls her head out her racist ass who has way more depth than she lets on, with the whole loyalty till death thing, and her creative side with the jewellery. I want to tease Lysithea like Claude does and feed her cake and sweets while we discuss magic. Ignatz is doing his best and the flashes of backbone he shows in early supports are amazing
Annette and Ashe are wonderful and deserve all the best things in life. Two little cinnamon rolls trying to make the best of their monuments of childhood trauma
Sylvain is.... Um. Ok, he's kinda an ass sometimes, and if he were real I'd probably hate him, but the snippets of who he could have been without all that Miklan and crest trauma? That version of him I love. The one who goes all out for his friends, who is a self sacrificing moron who hurts himself over and over because he somehow thinks it'll make things better? The one who cares so, so deeply when he lets himself, despite trying to push everyone away and keep them at arm's reach so they can't hurt him first. The version of him who is loyal to a fault, through thick and thin, and who is forever torn and on some level broken in non Blue Lion routes.
That Sylvain I love. The one behind the smiling playboy mask he shows the world.
Petra is a Bean. A Very Good Bean. She deserves all the love and kindness and all the help she wants tracking down the bastards who dragged her from her home and then made fun of her being dumped in a completely alien society. She is so damn strong, both physically (srsly she's been a crit machine in every playthrough it's insane) and mentally, I don't have the words
Thea is great in every way. She's kind and compassionate and is lethal with her snark. I want her to adopt me as her little sister and teach me her ways
Bernie needs a hug. And also all the help she wants disposing of her father because I know she's creative herself but I have some ideas if she wants them? Despite how much she wants to hide, and complains about being made to go out, she does go out to help her friends when they need her
Cyril is amazing. I love him to bits. Absolutely no fucks left to give for Hilda's bullshit. Slowly learning how to have friends. Learning to rely on people other than Rhea. He's wonderful and adorable and he'd hate me for it but I want to ruffle his hair and help him with his chores and make sure he's not getting blisters and feed him tasty Almyran food coz I bet he misses it, even if he won't admit it.
Shamir is everything I wanted to be growing up. No nonsense, take no shit, super smart, stealthy, and an archer??? She's great. I need that Marge Simpson meme
Seteth is fantastic, because once you get past that straight faced rules lawyer, he has a wicked sense of humour and a playful side and is such a dad. He's kind and caring, and he honestly does care, even if he shows it oddly
Byleth is whatever I want them to be. Blank slate, who nevertheless loves the people they pick in each route. Fierce and loyal and loving and struggling to express barely understood emotions... And putting up with Sothis being a gremlin
And then omg, Shez. Shez Shez Shez. The embodiment of no thoughts head empty. No filter, at all. Jumps off fucking cliffs for funsies. Multiple times!!!!! I just. I love Shez, ok? I am in desperate need of Shez merch, and Etsy is failing me. All I can find is the occasional sticker and I am a very sad Duckie about it
Ahem
Non FE3H is a little difficult... Mostly because 3H is my current obsession, but I guess...
Arlo and Oaks, from My Time at Portia are great? Arlo eats spaghetti, kicks down doors, and gets sweaty in the summer. Oaks is the Best Bear Boy Bean in the world. Shame the Devs dropped the ball on developing him, or giving him a decent backstory (I have so, so many questions about how he was raised)
Also, probably don't count, but the Cotton Llamas and Panbats. They are my Blorbos too. I need to finish making my third Panbat... As soon as I work out where I stashed it <__<;;;
Dys from I Was A Teenage Exocolonist is great! Little rebel baby. Also Sym, who is... Not really someone you can sum up easily? Cal is also great! I need to get back to playing this game, so I can romance him. Or not, because I want him to be happy with Tammy... Nngh
I think that's everyone I'd consider a Blorbo...? I mean, I love a bunch of other characters from different things, but none I've got out of my way to buy merch for like I have Claude (and the other students to some extent. Looking at my sticker covered table).
Sorry that got so long >__<;;;

Abilities
Ninjutsu: Venus had Ninjutsu abilities before she made her appearance. She had an unnamed ninjutsu teacher in the past who taught her many skills. So of course, these skills stay with her until her appearance, even if she’s a bit “rusty” at first.
Kenjutsu: Venus has the ability to use hook swords. She uses them in offense and defense, mostly the latter.
Tessenjutsu: Venus is skilled with the tessen.
Stealth: As a practitioner of ninjutsu, Venus can slip in and out of areas undetected.
Speed: Since her mutation, many of Venus’s abilities have enhanced, including speed. She’s capable of moving faster than the eye can follow.
Agility: Due to her mutation, Venus’s agility has also enhanced, allowing her to successfully dodge attacks and perform sharp twists and flips. This could also be due to her ninjustu.
Durability: Venus have always had a high tolerance for pain and trauma, but since her mutation, Venus’s body can experience it without lasting repercussions a lot more than she was human.
Shell Retraction: Being a mutant turtle, Venus can now retreat in her shell. Though she does have a problem with this in the beginning.
Mystic Wings: Venus has the ability to retract a pair of feather-like mystic wings, gaining the ability to fly. However, they also act as real wings, connecting to Venus’s nervous system. So if her wings get injured or removed without her personally undoing them, she will feel pain. However, this is something that happens a lot less as she starts to get a better understanding of her mystic power and abilities.
Mystic Healing: Venus has the ability to heal external injuries with her mystic power (cuts, burns, open wounds etc.). However, she’s unable to heal internal injuries.
Mystic Power: Like the 4 turtles, Venus has good control and access of her mystic power. However, she has trouble calculating and estimating exactly how much mystic power that she should use, especially regarding her healing power. As a result of that, she sometimes ends up in a weak or powerless state, which can lead to her passing out, or in a worst case scenario, ending up in a coma.
Music: Venus is a musician. She’s a very talented singer and is skilled with the guitar, drums and tambourine. She owns a acoustic guitar, in which she loves making songs with Michelangelo.
Art: She’s not very skilled with drawing nor painting, but Mikey is teaching her how.
Cooking: Venus is a fair cook, but she also learns to be better from Mikey and April.
Skateboarding/Skating: A skill that she lacked in the beginning, before the turtles taught her how.
Intelligence: Venus is more intelligent than she leads on. She’s slightly more intelligent than average, but Donatello beats her by a long shot.
Relationships
Raphael: Venus and Raph get along very well, and they think highly of each other. Venus values and respects Raph a lot as a teammate, leader, and friend. Even though Raph had his doubts about her in the beginning, he soon warms up to her. He admires her and respects her a lot, viewing her as “a amazing person”. Venus has a unrequited crush on him.
Leonardo: Venus and Leo get along well. Despite his immaturity at times, Venus sees past this and believes Leo to be a good person deep down. She sometimes even laughs at his one-liners and jokes (she’s the only one who honestly finds them funny lol). Leo has a slight unrequited crush on her, but keeps it to himself and stays friends with her. Leo admires Venus and sees her as a good person, but he sometimes believes that “she’s too nice for her own good”.
Michelangelo: Mikey is the quickest to forgive and accept Venus into their family. Within time, Venus and Mikey become very close, forming a sibling-like relationship. They are often there for each other for emotional support and to talk sense into each other when the other falters. Venus considers Mikey someone very precious to her, while Mikey feels the same.
Donatello: Venus and Donnie got off to a bad start in the beginning, since Venus was once against them and her actions lead to almost himself, his brothers and even April getting hurt. As a result, Donnie found it hard to trust her as easily as the others did when she finally joined the team. However, Donnie does eventually warm up to her, as he was able to tell that Venus had a pure heart. Despite her goofy antics towards him and her playful teasing at times (much to his chagrin), Venus shows great concern for Donnie and his well-being. She also sees a good person pass his “bad boy” shtick. Like with Leo though, Donnie often thinks that Venus is “too sweet for her own good”.
April: Venus has her first encounter with April at school. Both were friendless girls who met each other alone one day. Venus claimed that she was a new student who “transferred” a few months ago. Venus and April have “conflicting personalities”, but despite this, they were able to become good friends in no time. She’s one of April’s best female friends and talks about female things with her.
Splinter: Splinter is like a teacher to Venus and even in some cases like a father. Venus respects Splinter while Splinter views Venus as a nice young girl. He sometimes jokes about marrying Venus’s off to one of his sons one day, much to Venus’s chagrin and embarrassment.
Cassandra: Venus and Casey becomes friends after Casey switches sides. Even though Cass can sometimes be a little bit too extreme for Vee, Venus is still very fond of her and her strong personality. She also can see her more “mother hen/big sister” side in the subsequent times that they have together. She often calls her “Cass” for short instead of Casey.
Sunita: Venus and Sunita had a feud to see who’s April’s “best friend” at one point. However, they eventually saw that April cherishes them both as friends equally and they all settle their differences. Now, they get along very well, sharing some interest and even having girls’ nights along with April and Cassandra.
Baron Draxum: One of Baron’s ooze mosquitoes mutated Venus into a mutant turtle, but she doesn’t know that HE was the true culprit behind it at first. Baron manipulated Venus into working under him for a short while as a means of revenge against the turtles, who she believed at the time was responsible for the ooze mosquitoes getting free. However, she eventually finds out the truth and once again crosses to the side of good. When he eventually redeems, even though she’s wary of him like the others at first, she accepts him due to Mikey’s wishes and her own empathy.
Highlights of her History
Venus was introduced as a teenage girl who April met in the hallways at school one day.
April assumed that she was a new student, considering that she never seen her around school before. When in actuality, Venus was there for about 3 months at most.
She was introduced as a “loner” who had no friends to speak of.
She was an only child who lived with her mom.
Venus was curious one day of April’s “hidden life” and followed her.
She got caught in the crossfire and was mistakenly bit/stung by an ooze mosquito with the DNA of a Asian Box Turtle.
She was found by Baron after her mutation and when the Mad Dogs fled the scene. They didn’t know that Venus was mutated, but Baron tricked her and manipulated her into thinking that they was responsible for all that happened to her, convincing her that “they did this to her, without even staying to help her”.
She was their enemy for a little while until she finally found out the truth, coming back to her senses and joining their side. She’s now part of the Hamato clan.
She changed her color from black + dark pink, to pink + white.
She leaves a note for her mom, explaining that she needs to get away for a while, not to worry about her. She promises to see her mom again in better circumstances.
She renames herself Venus De Milo, after one of her favorite art pieces. Her reason for this is to separate her old self from her new self (friendless and alone, to having friends and accompanied). She also found it easier this way so no one can find out that “Venus De Milo” is NOT Mei Pieh Chi.
Trivia/Facts
Venus is part of the autistic spectrum.
She loves cherries, especially cherrychangas (a chimichanga filled with cherry pie filling, topped with cherries), but she’s ironically allergic to cherries.
She has a male pet turtle, Loki. This is meant to be somewhat of a reference to 2012! Raph owning a pet tortoise named Spike in the earlier seasons, until he was mutated into Slash. This also is a reference to him owning Chompy.
Venus is of Chinese, Japanese and Caucasian descendant. Her father is Japanese & Chinese, while her mother is Caucasian American.
Venus’s real name is Mei Pei Chi like in the original Next Mutation series, in which she is referred to as Mei (pronounced as May). When she's mutated into a mutant turtle, she takes on the name of Venus De Milo, named after one of her favorite pieces of art/statues. I imagine both Leo and Mikey helping her out with this.
Rise! Venus's colors are different than her Next Mutation conterpart. Instead of teal and different shades of blue, her colors are different shades of pink and white.
Venus wields different weapons in the beginning. Instead of having twin tessens like her Next Mutation counterpart, she wields two mystic hook swords. However, she does gain two mystic tessens as her upgraded weapons later in “the season 2 finale”.
She has two necklaces: A yin & yang locket and a teal colored crystal necklace. Both necklaces are crucial to her, which I plan to explain later.
Venus’s backstory is completely different than her original conterpart. While she was originally a baby turtle that gotten separated from the pack in Next Mutation, in this version of Venus, she was born as a normal human girl.
Venus is shown to be a lot like her mother: a kind and gentle soul. I have a theory on who her father could be, but I’m still taking this idea into consideration. However, it might be scrapped due to the “inconsistencies” of the idea.
Even though the team (the turtles, April and Splinter) sees her as part of the family and she feels the same, they are more like her found family, rather than her adoptive family. So somewhat similar to her Next Mutation counterpart, although she does see Michelangelo as her little brother, she doesn’t see the other members that way.
Venus is 16-18, the same age as April. However, since her birthday is before April’s, she’s considered older than her.
Venus is taller than Mikey, but shorter than Leo/Donnie.
I tend to elaborate more on Venus’s unnamed Ninjustu teacher in the future. However, for now, they will remain unknown. What is known about him though is that they were very close. She saw him as a father figure.
Venus’s development/arc is gaining more confidence and respect for herself. She also learns to accept that she’s a being with valid emotions. So she deserves to feel other emotions other than “happiness” or “sorrow”, without fear of “making things worse for everyone else”. She doesn’t have to put up with everything.
Though it may seem like that Venus and Leo are the same tone of green, Venus is a lighter color. I might change her tone of green to a more darker green in the future, but not too dark.
Venus’s many skills can be due to her being a loner, leaving her to have quite a lot of time on her hands. lol
Venus actually knows a lot about mystic power, as she was told about it from her previous teacher, in which HE knew of the mystic/Yokai world.
Venus claimed that she transferred schools in the beginning, but it was later revealed that she was actually expelled from her old private school for getting into a fight with her bullies.
Hope you guys enjoyed this! I’ll most likely add more details in the future, in this post or in another post. If you have any more questions, just ask me.

𝒷𝒾𝑜𝑔𝓇𝒶𝓅𝒽𝓎
Emmeline Vance has always been described as ‘capable’. From a young age she was solving puzzles in creative ways and forging a path for herself early in life. Her parents offered Emmeline a safe and happy childhood, although they both worked long, exhausting hours at the ministry meaning that child-care was left to her grandfather who owned Honeydukes sweet shop. As a small child, there was nothing that Emme loved more than suggesting new sweets her grandpa to try and make to try and then helping him make the ideas from her imagination into a reality. When she was six years old, her grandpa gave her her own little apron and nametag for when she was at the store.
Helping out at the store truly shaped Emme as she grew up. All sorts of people stopped by the store in their trips to Hogsmeade - all shapes, all sizes, all races, all blood statuses. Emme naturally became kind and compassionate, willing to help whoever might need it no matter what their background. Her first signs of magic showed in the store - she had to carry 3 tubs of jelly slugs from the cellar to the top of the store, and managed to levitate one in front of her like grandpa did with a degree of concentration after huffing about the fact she couldn’t carry three with her little hands. Certainly, her grandfather was more of a parent than her own parents ever were.
The issue of parenting came to a head just before her ninth birthday, when her parents decided that they were going to move to France to start life afresh. Emme’s father had been offered a job at the French Ministry and they had taken it easily, jumping at the opportunity to start life again in the beauty of France. But Emme’s little heart broke at the idea of not only being taken away from Britain and the promise of Hogwarts, but from the most important person in her young life. A few roaring arguments between her father and grandfather while Emme was supposed to be sleeping (but was really hovering at the top of the stairs trying to listen to what the adults were saying) and the three adults called her downstairs asking her a simple question.
“Would you rather live in Britain with grandpa or move to France with Mummy and Daddy?”
Emme never answered verbally, but instead ran over and clung to her grandpa’s leg, who had been more of a father to her than her own father had. It wasn’t their fault, of course, that they worked long hours and hardly ever saw their daughter - but Emme’s decision was easy. And so it was that within the next few months Emme’s parents prepared to move away and prepared to leave their daughter behind (promising visits, of course). In January, her parents were gone leaving her to live with grandpa and grandma in their small flat above the store. Life passed by peacefully until her eleventh birthday arrived and with it, a letter inviting her to Hogwarts.
On her first day at Hogwarts, Emme learned that not everyone was as kind as her. Her grandfather had pulled her aside at Hogsmeade station before she ran to join the arriving students and said ‘be brave enough to stand up for those who cannot stand up for themselves’. Those pearls of wisdom stuck a chord deep within Emme, who had always considered herself kind but hadn’t had to put herself in any level of discomfort to be kind so far. She had lived a reasonably sheltered upbringing, after all. Cruel thoughts had not been present in either her home or the sweet store (after all, who can find it in their hearts to be cruel when surrounded by that much sugar). With that wisdom fresh in her mind, Emme made her way towards Hogwarts where the sorting hat confidently placed her in Ravenclaw.
From there, Emme excelled at school. She had always loved reading as a child, and she made a name for herself quickly as one who always placed near to the top of her class. She engaged in lots of extra-curriculars including Charms club and Dueling club, and spent most of her evenings buried in magical practice and theory. In fifth year Emme became a prefect.
During her careers meeting, Emme looked at the pamphlets before her and knew there was only one real option for her. She had half considered the aurors programme, but reading and writing had always been her passion. Emmeline applied for a job with the Daily Prophet as a junior journalist. Working hard at her N.E.W.Ts, Emme left Hogwarts with an Outstanding in all subjects and a well-earned place at the Daily Prophet.
Since starting work at the Daily Prophet eight years ago, Emmeline has carved a name for herself as a well-respected journalist. She always works for the truth no matter how uncomfortable or unsettling it might be, and is determined to bring the truth to the public. This has, on occasion, led to Howlers being sent through the post but Emme is not deterred.
Emme is a notorious coffee drinker and can almost always be found with a flask in hand. She also loves to bake, frequently bringing in home made snacks to share around the office - Merlin only knows that their office needs a sprinkling of happy on a semi-regular basis. She gets excited about any and all holidays, and her absolute favourite place to be is the beach - especially when she’s wandering up and down the sand wearing a cosy jumper and bright yellow wellington boots. Despite reporting on some of the atrocities that happen in the wizarding world, Emme still lives with a sense of optimism and an understanding that the world really is full of good people even if it might not seem like it.
Emmeline is committed towards seeking justice both professionally and personally for all. She believes that the way that muggle-borns were treated at school was unjust, and has continued to speak against this in her journalism. When it becomes clearer that Voldemort is truly persecuting muggle-borns, Emmeline will step up to work against him firmly. When Emmeline commits, she throws her whole self behind a cause and can never be called ‘half-hearted’.

Note
I'd love to hear your thoughts on a few of the very best AND worst traits of each of these characters: Meredith, Jo, Andrew DeLuca, pre-S16 Alex, Jackson, Amelia and Link. I can't wait to read your answers! Meredith in particular is such a phenomenally complex character imo that I tend to have trouble describing her.
Thanks for the ask! I feel I  have answered one about it way back, but Tumblr's wonderful search does not allow me to find my own posts, plus I have a lot of thoughts, so here we go:
I’ll leave Mer for last, then ;)
Jo: Her resilience, her creativity, and her compassion are her best traits, definitely. They are what allow her to keep being a wonderful doctor even when the world is falling on her had, and allow her to distinguish herself in everything she does. For worse, she’s impulsive and has a temper, and is so guarded that she wounds up lacking communication, which is where a lot of the Jolex issues steemed from (made worse by the fact Alex is the same).
Andrew: Best: His kindness, his tenderness, his sense of justice. It’s why I wanted him in Peds (him interacting with kids melts me), why I think he’s perfect for Mer (he’s the softness to her edges), why I think he’ll be one of the best doctors that have been on the show. Worst: Impulsivity, need to prove himself, and, in a lot of regards, immaturity. He can act incredibly mature (like when dealing with Zola’s complicated feelings), but with situations like the Maggie thing or dealing with what he perceived to be Meredith “not respecting” him, his insecurities come out and make him act immaturely and petulantly, almost.
Alex: Creativity and out-of-the-box thinking, his protective nature, his adaptability, his desire to helo and comfort and support people. He’s a loving, caring friend, partner, and colleague, and he’s the kind of person you can always rely on, and who will look at a problem and come up with a solution that no one had thought of and which will work. You can count on him to have your back always. The worst ones: Impulsivity, lack of communication skills (can you tell that as much as I loved Jolex, it drove me up the wall sometimes?), recklessness, short fuse. What makes Alex interesting is that while he never outgrew his flaws completely (which makes him human and fleshed out and lovable), he learned to direct his chaos energy into good actions. It’s why the same guy who was violent and reckless and an asshole in the first few seasons became a man willing to risk his job to save a little kid from his religious-nuts parents, but who’s still the man that beat Deluca half to death at the smallest sign of threat to the woman he loved, consequences and being right be dammed.
Jackson: I think Jackson is fundamentally a kind person. His wealth makes him a bit clueless on how to extend that kindness to people, but he’s always willing to help, to be a friend or an advisor, and to share his good fortune with everyone around. His growth also makes me emotive. He’s... Wise? In a way that few other characters are. He counsels Deluca and Jo and Owen, even, and he handles fatherhood, and he does his very best to navigate April-Samuel-War-Divorce. Worst traits are his tendency to shut himself in when he needs to communicate (which I think he acquired after being, understandably, shut-out by April while she grieved, but my memory is fuzzy on that) and the way he tries to shape his relationships and partners to be what he thinks they should be (with April, it was he thought she needed to be less religious and share more because that’s what he did, with Maggie it was she needed to “see the truth” about religion and give him space, it’s confusing and upsetting for everyone involved).
Amelia: I think Amelia is sweet, and kind and brave, and also willling to go every length for her beliefs and her moral code. Worst are her hypocrisy her tendency to go all in, all out att he drop of a hat (by hypocrisy I mean she’s not necessarily the most stable, thoughtful person but when someone else isn’t thoughtful with her she is outraged, I could go in depth but I feel it’d be too long).
Link: Do we know enough about Link for this? Don’t get me wrong, I love him, but his personality is Golden Retriever. That scene where he is like “I dont ever want to share anything that bothers me with you, but you’re welcome to!!!! :)” I could see the writers patting themselves on the back for giving Amy a wall she could bounce all her chaos off of (not a criticism of Amy at all, but it was a sneaky one).
Meredith: Oh boy. I think Mer is loyal, and she is compassionate and empathetic to almost a fault. i think she’s brave and I think she is strong. I think she has an incredible amount of self-awareness. I feel very protective of that. I also think she’s self-centered (her pain blinds her to others and causes her to inflict pain as well), and incredibly rude. I think she overvalues her own relationships to people in detriment to the person’s other relationships. I think her loyalty and compassion can turn her nosy and “meddling”, as we see with Cristina and Alex a lot of the time. I think she’s emotionally guarded and ends up shutting people out until they’ve become close enough that she attaches to them like glue.

◟ * ◊ ─  benjamin wadsworth + cismale + he/him » * believe it or not angelo belongs to the mancini family. they are 19 years of age and are known to usually spend their time around magnolia’s coffee shop. the college dropout has been living in victoria for his entire life. the people closest to them describe the heterosexual + capricorn to be +placid and +tenacious as well as -calculated and -faultfinding » ◦ ° jaz, twenty-two, she/her, gmt◝
trigger warnings: death, suicide mention.
meet angelo ! more commonly known as angel by his late mother and those in his super inner circle. youngest of the mancini clan, and now 1/2 of the remaining duo, he’s dropped out of college to keep a close eye on rocco and the family estate in general.
i’ll put more about his past in his biography, since i’d ideally wanna’ iron all the details first, but he was a massive momma’s boy and always has been despite her problems. all you really need to know for plotting is that he’s been in victoria his entire life, except –––
from when he went to college last year !!! wow ! smart boy. angelo actually got accepted into MIT to study biomedical engineering, and for the year or so he was able to attend, he was incredibly passionate. he hated being away from his mom at the time, but he never let it show, as he did with most things.
when she died in late 2018, after only a few months of angelo being enrolled, he was a mess behind closed doors. he found it hard to cope, and even harder to come to terms with the fact he hadn’t been there for her in her final moments, even if it was self-caused. however, not knowing his father’s own mental state, angelo chose to stay in massachusetts, planning to come home for the funeral and that alone.
the news of his father’s suicide came not long after, though angelo’s reaction to that was far less visceral. he chose to come home only for a week, to see how his brother was and to attend funerals and events, mind falling straight into business mode and making sure to give his brother a long list of things he needed to keep an eye on. angelo had faith that rocco would handle things for the next two years whilst he graduated. things fell apart quick.
he continued to attend MIT for as long as he could, but news of rocco’s lifestyle and attitude always slinked its way down the grapevine to angelo, the nineteen year old boy at the university of his dreams. for him, a loyal mancini til’ the grave and a child who’d lost his mother, the choice to drop out of university wasn’t difficult. he left at the end of his first year, at the end of june, and has been home ever since. the staff tried to stop him, his circle of friends tried to stop him, but the choice had been made. he was going back to victoria.
does he resent his brother for what he’s had to do? not at all, he could never resent his best friend, but angelo would be lying if he said victoria was where he wanted to be. he’s now working closely with the current family accountant, being alongside him so he can keep the closest eye possible on the family finances and know what kind of deals and discussions he can afford possible business partners. it’s not surprising most turn their noses up at a nineteen year old trying to make business deals, but most are thrown onto their asses when he speaks.
PERSONALITY –––
angel is... kinda difficult? but also compared to his brother, he’s super easy to deal with. he’s a bit icy, but he doesn’t do it to ‘keep people away’ or anything like that, it’s just his natural demeanour, and he always appreciates people who aren’t bothered by his cool attitude at first and are willing to forge a friendship with him of some kind, though his persona in general naturally rubs people the wrong way.
he’s incredibly calm, and there’s very little that can be said or done to provoke any kind of reaction related to anger out of him.
he doesn’t like failure, but he is of the mindset that it makes you better as a person. however he despises people who let their failures or traumas affect them massively as people, so much so to the point where it affects their success. that’s one thing angelo has inherited from his father, his drive. his greed for succeeding. money isn’t the goal here, power is.
he’s practically a prodigy. his intelligence is off the scale and whilst 50% of that is natural ability, the other 50% is his own hard work and diligence. he’s not afraid to let you know how smart he is, nor will he accept anyone trying to tell him he’s only where he is because of his family. he seriously works his ass off, so much so you’d forget his family’s already wealthy and think he’s gone some kind of debt to pay off. angel’s always working on something, always scribbling away some kind of idea in his notebooks or planning something.
literally never stops pointing out faults in other people, thanks angel.
tends to think entirely with his head and is good at pushing emotion out of the equation 99% of the time. he’s very, very logical, plans pretty much all of his day, every day. spontaneity isn’t a word in his vocabulary and he doesn’t think his life is any worse off without it.
he has a penchant for pastries and good coffee and so you can nearly always find him these days at magnolia’s coffee shop. he enjoys his own company and therefore is usually alone, but won’t turn down the company of a friend so long as they don’t speak. at all.
◟ * ◊ ─  phoebe tonkin + cisfemale + she/her » * believe it or not noelle mercier is working for the bianchi family. they are 28 years of age and are known to usually spend their time around crystal woods. the escort, who has been a part of the alliance for 3 years, has been living in victoria for 4 years. the people closest to them describe the bisexual + pisces to be +tenderhearted and +intuitive as well as -pithless and -elusive » ◦ ° jaz, twenty-two, she/her, gmt◝
trigger warnings: death, sex work, suicidal thoughts, predatory behaviour, murder.
disclaimer: noelle’s soft. as fuck.
she was born in the south of france to two very french parents. she grew up there for most of her young life, living idyllically with little care. she was brought up to be kind and compassionate. her mother ran a sanctuary for local, injured wildlife and her father was a passionate journalistic photographer who travelled the world. she was exposed to culture, love, and nature when she was younger, and it shows to this day.
life was not to be all sunshine and rainbows for noelle. at sixteen, her father got caught up in a warzone, shot in action and killed on the spot. noelle’s mother experienced a complete psychotic breakdown, unable to look after herself, let alone noelle. the young girl watched, helpless, as the woman she had admired for so many years disappeared, taking the final memories of her beloved father with her. noelle was sent to live with her aunt in america, a continent that didn’t favour girls as gentle as her.
she quickly realised her only friend and ally in this new place was her cousin, louisa. her aunt was a horrible, hard woman who seemed to hate both of the girls with a seething passion, and her uncle leered at noelle whenever he could, copping feels and whispering inappropriate nothings into her ear. noelle and louisa protected each other, spent most of their nights out, eventually finding trouble.
noelle met him when she was on the brink of turning eighteen. maybe that’s what he used to justify it in a state where the age of consent was 16. robert misfer was rich. he was the diamond in their city. he paid for everything and anything anyone could ever want. he got whatever he wanted, and he wanted noelle. she was young, she was impressionable, and she fell so madly in love with someone she thought was her prince. they dated for four years when she should’ve been with boys her age. he had a wife and kids. she had her high school diploma. he put her through university. she answered his every beck and call. louisa tried her best to stop her, but what could she say? robert took noelle from the prying eyes of her uncle. in noelle’s eyes, they weren’t the same.
sometime during this whole ordeal robert bought noelle and louisa an apartment, allowing them their independence at the cost of noelle’s dignity.
until one day, robert disappeared. he had moved away with his family the day after noelle’s graduation. she was destroyed. she couldn’t do anything for weeks straight, louisa could do nothing except convince her to keep living – and eventually, she began to recover.
that was when louisa revealed a secret – cam work. noelle was in a bad place, she was  a beautiful young woman who felt unloved and unwanted, so louisa suggested she cam on the side for cash. louisa didn’t realise just how desperate noelle was for love, the love she had replaced with the attention she gained from her fans.
she worked as a cam girl for years, doing it partly for the money, partly for the enjoyment she got from feeling empowered, and partly for the toxic reason of finally being able to get the affection and attention she wanted. she loved being a cam girl, it was her whole life, until word got out in their neighbourhood.
they shunned noelle. treated her as if she should’ve been ashamed of what she’d been doing despite the fact they all did much worse behind closed doors. she withdrew into herself again for a week, stopped streaming completely and closed down her account. it rocked her fanbase but noelle could hardly cope. she wasn’t built to receive criticism like this, especially criticism for something that had brought her so much joy, something she saw nothing wrong with.
it all came to a head one night. noelle had locked herself in her room when her aunt and uncle came to their apartment, demanding to see her and berate her for what she’d done. louisa stood at the front door, defiant, radiant, beautifully strong... but she was no match for their horrendous uncle, her own father, who beat his own daughter with his bare hands until she couldn’t breathe. noelle witnessed it all, had left her room when she heard the screams, held her cousin – no, her sister – in her arms as she died on their living room floor. her uncle had disappeared by the time the police arrived, and once the police themselves learned of noelle’s job? they could barely afford her a drop of respect. louisa’s death went unpunished. the world continued revolving. noelle was lost.
the harassment eventually got so bad that she had no choice but to move, but where was she even supposed to start? it’s not like she had any family anymore, all of her friends had long since abandoned her to avoid the fallout of knowing her, and the last boyfriend she’d had... well, we all know how that went. it wasn’t until she stumbled upon an old newspaper clipping tucked away in her cousins belongings that she knew where to go – victoria.
as morbid as it was, the newspaper clipping described the deaths of fifty of the victoria residents at the bronze, and noelle knew immediately it was where she needed to be. no one would judge her there. it was a place seeped full of history that people daren’t speak of. it was somewhere she could hide, and that’s what noelle did best.
she successfully moved to victoria four years ago, where she finally restarted her cam girl career. eventually, after a year, someone involved with the bianchi family sought her out and offered her the job of a lifetime. not only was noelle protected as an escort, she earned much more money. whilst in her day to day life she was still awkward and shy, her camming allowed her to separate her job from her personal life, letting her focus on her goal of making people happy and making her a very effective escort.
she loves animals! loves nature! wiccan! this will all be in her stats but like !!!! U NEED TO KNOW !!!!!
PERSONALITY –––
noelle, despite everything, is perhaps the most tenderhearted person you could meet. she’s gentle, trusting, and patient. she treats everyone as if they’re the most precious person in the world and looks at everything with a sense of wonder and amazement. she’s v generous, just loves !!! helping people !!!
wishes she was a princess and is waiting for a prince to sweep her off her feet. i’m not joking. literally loves love and romanticises everything like jesus shut up noelle please.
she has no backbone. her parents, and then louisa, were her backbone for her entire life, protecting her and coddling her until it was too late for her to develop a spine of her own. she allows people to walk all over her with no consequence, lets them use her until there is nothing of her left, and she’s the one forced to rebuild. but it doesn’t matter, if the other person is happy, that’s all noelle wants.
she’s surprisingly elusive and distant about her past. whilst her warmth radiates into every part of her life and other people’s lives, noelle... doesn’t talk about her past, where she’s from, and if the conversation ever veers that way she’s a pro at steering it differently. no one ever thinks anything of it because of how open she seems to be, but truthfully she’s incredibly private, nobody truly knows much about her of worth at all.
she’s pretty emotional (shock) and cries a fairly decent amount. she doesn’t deal well with being shouted at or scolded, but she does well at hiding her tears in those situations and has learned to separate that from when people are genuinely pissed at her. she cries more when people are in pain, are upset, or if someone’s genuinely hurt her.
that’s it
it’s over
thank god

Happy Storyteller Saturday! Tell us a little about how your OC sees themselves, versus how the world perceives them. Do they cultivate a specific image? Are they aware of how people think about them? Is there more to them than meets the eye?
Hello! Thank you for sending in the ask! And sorry it took me a while to get to it.
I really love this question, my characters are layered like onions, lets dive in.
Tumblr media
How My OCs See Themselves - FTK Main Crew
Ryvaeryn/Ryn.
She sees herself as resilient, intelligent, loyal and intuitive. She tells herself she is confident and a strong public figure, but is constantly worried about people not seeing past her injury (she has a horrible scar on her face and is missing an eye), or seeing her as ‘The King’s Fiance’ instead of an intelligent being.
The world sees Ryn as an outsider with a short fuse. She is partially aware of this but doesn’t agree. The Outsider who came in at a tumultuous time, usurped the (old) king and proclaimed herself a queen. Her friends see her as strong, self conscious, generous and hurting.
Ryn is a protagonist, so the reader is aware of how she thinks about herself.
Elthian/King Elthian/El
He sees himself as a good king but not good enough. He is loyal to a fault and values his support system, but his mind is in upheaval and he doubts every second decision, even, sometimes, his choice to marry Ryn. A fledgling monarch, he is very aware of his history of giving selective truths and misjudging loved ones. He tries to present as confident and self-assured (like his dad was) which actually only damages him more because he doesn’t admit his faults.
The world sees Elthian as just and compassionate, self-assured, but perhaps not doing enough to pull his country out of it’s troubles with fires and uprisings. Elthian’s friends are aware that he has self-esteem issues but don’t know how deep the guilt goes. They see him as growing into his role and think he is relatively emotionally healthy.
Elthian is also a protagonist, but doesn’t acknowledge his struggles consciously.
Orrian/Prince Orrian
To borrow a quote from my favourite book*, Orrian is a ‘study in contradiction’. Every side of him is different and this is what he cultivates. To his father (especially) and to the Manthan court he presents as a loose cannon and a rebellious son, spending time and money on recreational drugs, alcohol and women. To his friends he is supportive, charismatic and easy going. To his little brother (Elthian) he is fiercely protective and loyal and will (and did) risk his life to save him. To his many foster kids he is patient, lenient, loyal, and open, and doesn’t let his temper get the better of him - a great foster dad.
A public figure since before he was born, Orrian is well-known in Mantha. The greater majority see him as the unreliable playboy. Everyone sees the side he presents to them, but no one questions the underlying motivations behind it all.
Joal
He sees himself as loyal and reliable, creative, smart, and quiet. He doesn’t explain many of his actions, but calls out his friends when they step out of line, and tries to be friendly with others, or fade into the background. He watches a lot, but there is a hell of a lot of history binding him to secrecy.
The world sees Joal as brooding and quiet, if they notice him at all. With no noble heritage, he is often overlooked. Ryn sees him as creepy and moody (they have things to work through). Orrian sees him as reserved but interesting. Elthian knows almost everything about Joal, and understands him.
Kalen/K
Yay! Kalen sees himself as friendly and fun, which he is. He is honest, caring and protective of his friends, though prefers not to be in the firing line unless he needs to be. He understands his past is a part of him, and tries to make sure no one else has to go through that.
The world sees Kalen as buoyant and happy-go-lucky, which is fine by him, but the problem being that they sometimes don’t take him very seriously. To his friends he is always there, a support they (*cough* Ryn) take for granted.
Ara (previously Val)
Ara knows herself well. Her confidence and dignity and psychopathy are high. She knows she is cunning and smart and witty and lethal, and she sees right past the bullshit. She keeps her cards close to her chest, and presents as warm and kind. She knows ten ways to kill you before you could flinch.
Other than Morryl (her husband) those around her see her as optimistic and kind, supportive and compassionate. She can be these things, but so much more. Having been in prison for more than half her life, with everyone outside thinking she is dead, the few people who do have access to her know less than they think they do.
I’ll stop there as I’ve said a lot. Thanks for the ask!

𝐈𝐍 𝐂𝐑𝐄𝐄𝐏𝐒 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐅𝐄𝐄𝐋𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐇𝐄 𝐃𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐃𝐒 𝐒𝐎 𝐃𝐄𝐄𝐏𝐋𝐘, hours of misery he endures so many times within a week, more time spent here than anywhere else. as uncomfortable as it is, this is his most comfortable routine------victor conley spends every second he’s happy counting down to when he isn’t again, just to see how long each fleeting moment lasts. usually, it takes no time at all, a matter of minutes until he’s plunged back into the void of nothingness, that now feels like the closest thing to home he has. but sometimes, he stays there in his contentment for awhile, as smiles become less forced, hope brewing within his heart that maybe peace will stay, this time. it never does.
he’s been still,  &  quiet, a mistake he’s used to making, distracted  &  lured in by the false security of a cool night, the silence  &  comfort of stars that everyone always alludes to. but there is NO comfort or safety for him, here, only darkness waiting for his guard to go down, memories  &  thoughts of self hatred lurking in the shadows, watching victor like an animal stalks its prey.  &  he is easy prey, so simple to manipulate that even his own darkness can manage to do it.
you are nothing. you let your mother die. she’d be disappointed in you, to see what you’ve become. you are no better. you deserve everything that’s happened to you.  YOU MISS HIM. YOU MISS IT ALL.   you’ll never amount to anything, you may as well stop kidding yourself now.
what of WORTH has he ever put into the world ?
his own kindness is lost on him, blurred from his vision, clouded------everyone can see it but him. he’s always been kind, a gentle sort of man, caring  &  compassionate  &  loyal to a fault. but in his eyes he is annoying, a nuisance, he is trying too hard  &  inserting himself where he need not be. no one here could love him. no one ever has, none besides his mother.  &  what reason does anyone have to start now ? who would love a thief, a liar, a drunken scoundrel with no regard for anyone besides himself ? who would love a man who stole from mothers and let their children go hungry ? WHO COULD ?
there is no point to the space that he wastes.
just as the headache begins to make itself apparent, a tremble coming to his limbs as even the distant light of the stars becomes too bright to look at------someone else enters the garden, footsteps shuffling past him of a resident used to seeing the hopeless man who sleeps on the bench. she doesn’t ask after him, today ; likely because he’s not curled into himself, not rocking or crying or messing his hair. he merely lays there, looking entirely fine in the eyes of someone he doesn’t know. she likes to tend to the garden in the morning, which means the sun will be rising soon.
so desperate for distraction, even the sounds of flowers being snipped  &  dirt being shuffled about is just enough to pull victor from his despair, place him back in skyhold, back on his bench.  &  then she starts to hum.                              mamae used to hum while she gardened. now tears form  &  fall freely,  &  he rolls to the side with his back facing the garden, coat tugged around his shoulder as he prepares to sleep. its so hard to sleep, yet so easy to stay there once he does. i won’t wake til lunch has long past, he thinks. oh well.
he doesn’t CARE.

TASK 14D: GETTING TO KNOW YOU
RELATIONSHIPS WITH OTHERS:
Who, if anyone, is his/her best or closest friend?  Qhuinn has quite a few people that she would consider best friends, but Jason is the person she feels closest to. ( @professor-shaw )
Other close friends: Far too many to name. She loves and cares so deeply that she considers anyone that she knows well enough to be a close friend.
How in general does s/he react to or is perceived by...
Friends? Qhuinn’s friends are her world. There’s nothing that she wouldn’t do for them, and she tries to support them however she can. She feels that she is perceived by them as someone kind, loyal, and always willing to lend a hand.
Strangers? While Qhuinn is still warm and friendly to strangers, she tends to be a little wary until she can get a good read on them. She’s been through and seen enough on the island to know that all strangers aren’t just potential friends. She feels that she is perceived by them as someone nice, but probably naïve and trying too hard to prove that she’s one of the good guys.
Spouse/Lover? N/A
Past spouse/lovers? Qhuinn doesn’t have contact with her exes anymore, but thinks nothing but good thoughts about them and hopes that they do the same about her. Although she wouldn’t blame them if they didn’t.
Own children, if any? N/A
Other family members? N/A
The opposite sex? Qhuinn doesn’t really know how the opposite sex perceives her. She doesn’t find herself to be particularly attractive or desirable, so at times it can confuse her if she’s ever looked at that way. She loves men though, and has always had more guy friends that girl ones ever since she was a child. She just in general feels more comfortable around men, even though it took her a while to get back to that place after her rape.
Children in general? Qhuinn hasn’t really been around children all that much since she arrived on the island. She loves them though, and they tend to love her because she bakes.
Others who are more successful? Qhuinn treats and perceives everyone equally, regardless of their success.
Others who are less successful? Same as above.
Boss (if any)? N/A
Underlings at work? Qhuinn adores her employees and is grateful for each of them. She tends to spoil them as much as she can, and hopes that they perceive her as a fair, fun person to work for.
Competitors? Qhuinn doesn’t really see herself as having any competitors.
Authority (police, IRS, politicians, attorneys, doctors, etc.)? The only authority that Qhuinn knows right now is the island administration, and she imagines that they hate her just as much as she hates them.
Anyone who challenges him or her? If it’s someone who’s challenging her in a positive way, then Qhuinn will respect them. She’s always open to ways that she could do things better, as long as they don’t go against her personal beliefs.
Anyone who angers him or her?  It takes a lot to anger her, so if Qhuinn reaches that point with someone it’s because they have wronged her or someone that she loves in a serious way. She is sure that they would perceive her as weak.
Anyone who asks for help? Qhuinn doesn’t think that people who ask for help are weak, as she knows how hard that can be for some. So she will always do whatever she can to help them. Some may perceive her as helpful, while others may think her a pushover.
What do most people consider likeable about him/her? Qhuinn doesn’t think very highly of herself, but feels that her most likeable qualities are her kindness and openness, as well as her selflessness. She also hopes that others like her sense of humor and casual nature.
What do most people consider his/her biggest flaw? Qhuinn imagines that people perceive her biggest flaw to be her weakness and selflessness, as well as her complete lack of self-esteem.
Any secret attractions? If so, does the other person know it? Has there been any actual romantic/sexual activity? Most of her attractions right now are not secret. There has been sexual activity with some, but not all.
In romantic relationships, is s/he generally monogamous or uncommitted? (If the latter, is s/he honest w/ partners?) Qhuinn has always been monogamous in the past, and isn’t really sure if she can be any other way. Since that hasn’t worked out so well for her in the past though, she’s could be willing to at least try an open relationship.
Is his/her sexual behavior inhibited, average, experimental, or reckless? Has this changed (and if so, why)? Qhuinn’s sexual behavior as gone up and down over the years. When she was a teenager/young adult she was very reckless and open. The after her rape, it was a while before she could even be touched casually by a man, much less be intimate with one again. During her relationships she feels that she was average and maybe a little more experimental as she was with people she trusted. Now that she’s been single again, she feels herself wanting to experiment even more and can be a little uninhibited at times.
Whom does s/he dislikes most, and why? There are a few people that Qhuinn dislikes because of things that they’ve done, and she’s pretty sure that they know who they are and don’t really care.
Whom does s/he like most, and why? Qhuinn loves anyone that she cares about enough to consider a friend.
Who's the most important person in his/her life right now, and why? There are a few people that Qhuinn considers very important to her right now. They are Jason, Quinten, Barry, Emilia, Dougal, Atticus, Noah, and Finn. Among many others, really. ( @professor-shaw @quinten-sawyer @barrybilsby @slaveemilia @dougalmcleodthevampire @voulez-vousatticus @noahwrightx @finncarlyle )
Whom does s/he admire (nonromantic), and why? Qhuinn admires all of the people that are important to her. Grant students because of what they have to put up with, and others because they try to help and do good when they can.
Biggest influence, and why (famous or not)? Her sister and great-grandmother, and Clay. Meghan and her Grand-Mere’ loved and believed in her despite her differences, and always made her feel like she wasn’t such a failure. And Clay, because he’s her Alpha and first real mentor who helped her become the wolf that she is today.
Whom (if anyone) does s/he consider an enemy, and why? Because she doesn’t try to engage the people that she even dislikes, Qhuinn doesn’t really think that she has any enemies.
Person s/he most misunderstands or misjudges: Qhuinn very much misjudged Xavier and Jax. One was much worse than she even imagined, while the other was not the monster that she thought for so long.
Person who most misunderstands or misjudges him or her: Anyone who thinks that they can’t trust her or that she has some ulterior motive.
Has s/he's lost touch with anyone who was once significant in his/her life? If so, why? Qhuinn has lost touch with quite a few people who were very important to her, such as the friends that she used to have before she was turned, and the people who have come and go on the island. She would love to contact them again, but she either can’t or doesn’t feel like she should.
Worst end of a relationship (could be friend, romantic, colleague...) All of her romantic relationships ended badly. But Clay and Hollis were the most painful.
Whom does s/he most rely on for practical advice? Oddly enough, Mercy and Barry. They’re the least likely to let emotions get in the way.
Whom does s/he most rely on for emotional support? Pretty much anyone else, but mainly Jason, Emilia, Finn, Dougal, and Quinten.
Whom, if anyone, does s/he support (e.g. advice or emotional support)? Anyone who wants such a thing from her.
MENTAL ATTITUDE/PERSONAL BELIEFS:
Any psychological issues (e.g. phobias, depression, paranoia, narcissism, etc.)? Low self-esteem, and occasional anxiety and depression.
Is s/he an optimist or pessimist? Qhuinn is a realist, with a heavy lean towards optimism. She tries to see the best in people and every situation, but she also knows that sometimes things are just shit and you can’t change that.
Meyers Briggs Personality Type (Don't know? Take a sample test for your character.) : MEDIATOR (INFP-T)
Most comfortable when ... (alone, hanging w/friends, drinking, etc.): Alone with her pets or in small groups of people who she trusts.
Most uncomfortable when ... (in a crowd, alone, speaking in public, etc.): In large groups or around people who have an obviously untrustworthy aura.
Is s/he cautious, brave, or reckless in his/her approach to life?: Qhuinn is a very cautious person but she can at times be impulsive.
What does s/he most value/prioritize? (family, money, success, religion, etc.): Friends, love, and life.
Whom does he/she really love best? Any of her closest friends, and her pets.
What would he/she be willing to die for? Same as above.
Is s/he generally compassionate, sensitive to others? Qhuinn is a very sensitive and compassionate person, sometimes to a fault.
Or self-involved/selfish/oblivious? She doesn’t consider herself to be any of those things, in spite of what others may think.
Personal philosophy: Treat others the way that you would want to be treated.
What is his/her biggest embarrassment? She wished that she didn’t get so flustered when being complimented, especially sexually.
What is his/her greatest wish? That the island would just become a normal school, and there would be no more slavery or pain for anyone.
Any prejudices (race, culture, sexuality, religion, etc.)? N/A
Political party or beliefs, if any: She just wishes for equal treatment of all, no matter what.
Does s/he believe in fate or destiny? Is s/he superstitious? She’s not superstitious but she does believe in fate and destiny.
Character's greatest strength: Her unshakable kindness.
Character's greatest flaw: Her selflessness and empathy.
Other good characteristics: Her open mind, humor, and warmth.
Other character flaws: Her low self-esteem, tendency to over think but also be impulsive, inability to say no even when she knows that she should.
What are his/her own favorite attributes (physical and personality)? Physical, her eyes. Personality, her kindness.
What about least favorite? Physical, her lack of a figure. Personality, her low self-esteem.
Are these feelings accurate? She truly believe that they are, especially the bad ones.
How does s/he think others perceive him or her? (And is this accurate?) Despite her low self-worth, she’s pretty sure that her true friends don’t think of her the way that she thinks of herself. She does know that there are some who don’t like her, and their opinions are the ones that she tends to believe more.
Biggest regret: Not trying to make amends with her parents before they died.
Other regrets: Not giving Jax more of a chance, not appreciating what she had with Hollis, and hurting him and Clay. It used to be going with Jax that night, but she feels now that it was her destiny to become a wolf and it would have eventually happened.
Proudest accomplishment: Gaining control of her wolf.
Other accomplishments: Finally finding some kind of contol over her empathy ability, keeping her kindness even in a place like this, and running her own business.
Biggest secret(s): None really.
Does anyone else know these secrets? If anyone wants to know anything about her all they have to do is ask.
If yes, how were the secrets revealed? N/A
How does s/he react to a crisis? Qhuinn tries her best to remain calm and logical, but her anxiety and empathy powers can at times get the better of her.
What usually causes the problems in his/her life (romance, finances, friends, colleagues, personality flaws, health, etc.)? Just general life on the island causes the majority of her problems.
How does s/he react to change? She used to not like it but has become more adaptable as she’s gotten older.
Quirks: One of her biggest is that she has to have music when she’s cooking. She doesn’t like complete silence when doing anything really. Even if she’s reading or studying, she at least has to have music playing or the TV one for background noise.
What would s/he most like to change about her-/himself, and why? She wishes that she were stronger, braver, and had more confidence.
Write a paragraph (~100 words) of the character describing him/herself:             Qhuinn is..just a regular girl. She’s a wolf who was made out of violence and anger, and who lives in a place that promotes the same, but she still tries to retain her kindness and convictions. She does her best to take care of those around her, often neglecting herself in the process but not really caring as long as everyone else is happy. She’s warm, funny, awkward, nerdy, talented, and stronger than she thinks.
Short term goals: To continued to help as much as possible, and to maybe find the courage to claim again.
Long term goals: To one day finally leave the island and continue on with her life, and to settle somewhere and find love again and start a family.
Does s/he plan to achieve these goals, or does s/he think they're unrealistic? The only goal that she really thinks could be unrealistic is finding love again, but she does hold on to her hope for achieving them all.
Will others be affected? She’s sure that some will be, but she doesn’t know who specifically.
If yes, does it matter to the character? It matters very much, as she doesn’t want to see anyone hurt.
What, if anything, is stopping him/her from achieving these goals? Mostly her own fears and insecurities.
What does he/she actively work to gain, keep or protect? Qhuinn does everything that she can to protect the ones that she loves. It may not be much on the island, but she tries.
What event or occurrence does s/he most dread or fear? The next punishment or spell that will harm the ones that she loves.
Which person in his/her life would s/he most want to emulate? She wishes that she had Sage’s confidence, Jason’s strength, and Quinten’s goodness. ( @sage-mcbaine )
Which person in his/her life would s/he least want to emulate? Anyone selfish or cruel.

Not trying to get into the shipping war but I didn't get into Avatar TLA fandom until post S2 and it had never occured to me to ship Katara/Zuko. They were enemies who fought over Aang. They had the worst relationship w/each other until post TSR ep (which for a number of reasons I thought was the most anti romantic Zuko/Katara ep that also pushed why Aang was more compatible). I personally find their platonic dynamic, be it as enemies or friends, much more fascinating/better for each other.
(Just want to take a moment to say thank you anon, I’ve been looking for an opportunity to rant about Zutara when I see this in my ask. Thank you for giving me the chance to rant about something that’s bothered me for 10 years)
People are allowed to ship what they want, I can’t stop them and I generally don’t care but Zutara has bugged me since I decided to watch ATLA (the Day of Black Sun was the first live episode I watched). If you like Zutara, go ahead and please enjoy it. I strongly dislike it and I’m going to explain why. If you don’t want to see it, don’t read under the cut. I will be discussing why I dislike Zutara and why I support Maiko and Kataang (with caveats).
I think Zutara was the first, really big ship I encountered in fandom. I was blown away by how mean and intense some people were into shipping fictional characters (still am tbh). This is also probably the first real time I was exposed to the ‘Opposites Attract’ trope of shipping which. I. Utterly. Despise. Everyone was all 'oh fire and water, opposites coming together in love uwu’ and I’m like ??? Even 13 year old me who’s terrible with people and was still icked out by the idea of guys knew that opposites attract is a complete fallacy in a relationship.
People don’t fall in love with their opposite! Or maybe they feel strong attraction but to have a stable, respectful relationship you simply can’t work with someone who you can’t find common ground with. Now I know this isn’t completely true even as I type this, there are exceptions to everything but in most cases, opposites don’t work for romance. Let’s also kill the 'Oh these people hate each other, it must be sexual tension’ trope while we’re at it. Sometimes you just gotta let people hate each other.
You may argue that Katara and Zuko aren’t complete opposites and I would agree, they actually have a decent amount in common. The main problem I see with them is their complimentary traits don’t suit each other and as a couple they wouldn’t achieve a healthy, happy relationship.
- Both Katara and Zuko have unresolved anger relating to their childhoods and respective traumas. We see in TSR that Zuko is trying to reach out to her by feeding her anger and Katara very nearly does something she would have regretted later, something opposed to her basic traits while Zuko is having his father’s teaching on hatred and revenge justified to an extent. This is not a healthy thing.
- Both Katara and Zuko are compassionate and protective almost to the point of jealousy and rage. Again, that sort of personality wouldn’t promote respect but become confining. Zuko has shown that he struggles with romantic jealousy (though most of that incident was born out self-hatred, it’s still there just better controlled) and Katara has a desire to mother and protect. Those two instinct would war with each and make the relationship troubled from the start.
- Both Katara and Zuko are fiercely loyal to their people. I have never been more confused than I was by a text post saying Zutara should have been endgame because Katara “wouldn’t have had her cultural identity erased to become Aang’s baby momma” like??? Aang, for all his faults, loved Katara as she was and she maintained her Water Tribe roots even as his wife. If Katara married Zuko, she’d have been Fire Lady, loyal to the Fire Nation first and forced to live in a Palace. Katara would HATE that level of confinement and while she mightbe better with the Fire Nation now, I doubt she’d be totally cool spending the restof her life amongst the people who murdered her Mother.
Not tomention the whole animosity they had literally throughout the entire series. Ofcourse, Zuko proved himself in TSR but I don’t think Katara really accepted himuntil Sozin’s Comet. And before you cry your tears about how Zuko saved Katarafrom Azula’s lightening, I’m 100% certain given Zuko’s character that he wouldhave done that for anyone. Azula knows her brother is softhearted and we’veseen Zuko protect literal strangers when he didn’t need to. That could havebeen Old Man Li and Azula would have shot that lightening and Zuko would havethrown his stupid ass in the way.
I can see Katara and Zuko growing to begood, close friends. Because we all have those friends that we care and rely onbecause they’re different from us,think differently and bring something unique. Zuko probably relied on Katarafor counsel, advice on how to be a kind but strong ruler while Katara wouldseek him out on political manners and how best to handle Aang. Zuko is a partof the Gaang, now and forever more, he and Katara are the mature ones of thegroup, there to bring order and peace and pave the way for the new world. Butas a romantic couple, they’re simply not complementary in personality andlifestyle to have a truly happy relationship.
Whichbrings me, briefly I promise, to the relationships the two characters are in:Maiko and Kataang. I love Maiko, it’s my favorite of the ATLA ships (aside fromSokki) because I feel they do work and complement each other. I’ll start by gettingthis right out of the way; yes it’s kind of ridiculous that Mai and Zuko hadthat cute lil kiddie crush and then, 5 minutes after Zuko’s back in the FireLord’s favor, Mai makes a move. I’d have preferred if they showed more build-upto the relationship but I guess there wasn’t enough time. But I don’t get allthese accusations of Maiko being abusive. Becauselet me tell you, just because someone messes up in a relationship, makes amistake for the right reasons, that does not mean they’re abusive.
To me, Maiand Zuko are products of the same environment: emotionally stunting/abusive,rigid, accepting nothing less than perfection but they handled it differently.Zuko chose to become angry and emotional over his circumstances (I thinkbecause it’s the only way he could fuel his bending) and Mai chose to bury herfeelings. Healthy? No, Realistic? Yes. Mai liked Zuko because he was genuinelynice guy, he was expressive and open when no one else around her was andencouraged her to be more open. Zuko liked Mai because she was cool and calmbut also a bit nurturing when he needed someone to soothe his flames.
Twodamaged kids helping to repair each other’s faults, what’s better than that?Mai makes mistakes with Zuko, she doesn’t know how to handle his troubles in the Fire Nation and, frankly, she couldn’t. Zuko needed that time to self-reflect and understand that what was happening was wrong. Zuko likewise behaved badly in a few episodes when his anger and self-hatred were making him explode. They both worked through this to improve like, gee, a normal healthy relationship.
Plus Mai would make a good Fire Lady. The Fire Nation needed stability afterthe war and Mai was nothing if not stable. She comes from a good, noble family(to soothe traditionalists) and she’s experienced in keeping firebenderscontrolled (for those worried about Zuko’s youth) and experienced in the waysof the world like Zuko so he can bounce ideas off of her and have her give backa more well-rounded perspective. It’s not perfect but when the series endedthey were 16/15, they have time to learn and grow together. (also I’m ignoringthe comics after The Promise because everything after has sucked)
Kataang I’ma lot less invested in but I can still understand it. Like Zuko and Mai, Aangand Katara have a lot in common and provide a good balance for one another. They really bring out the best in each other, Aang’s encouragements and naturalcheer brighten Katara’s inner sadness/anger and Katara gives Aang a sense oflove and purpose while also gently nudging him the way he needs to go. Peoplecomplain that Kataang was pushed from the start and it was, but man if Aangdoesn’t love the hell out of Katara. He respects her and relies on her andadores her but is still able to push back when she’s out of line. My main thingwith Kataang, which will eventually resolve itself, is the ages. Aang is 12when he’s freed from the iceberg, Katara 14. Aang’s love was a kiddie puppycrush on a calming maternal figure which made me feel a bit icky during the finalepisode.
Because earlyAang did love Katara but he also needed her as a guide and a mother figurewhile Katara was nurturing Aang and making sure he’s safe and happy when hereally needed to be facing the consequences of some of his actions. I see whythe characters did what they did but it makes a romance then kind of ug. I’dhave preferred if the series ended with hints and then skipped to LOK where wesee they married and junk. Because given a few years, I can see Aang and Katarabeing a good healthy couple (with no *shudders* sweeties to be seen).
Aang has just changed the world, he needstime to settle himself as the Avatar and to help Zuko and other leaders repairthe damage done by the 100 year war. Katara needs to figure out what she’sgoing to do, go home? Travel? A romance isn’t advised, especially since they’reso young. But when they’re a few years older, Aang is more mature and iswilling to see Katara as a partner and not someone to mother him and Kataragrows into her potential and decides what she wants, yeah then they’d be happy.
TL;DR: Istrongly dislike Zutara (along with the ‘opposites attract’ and ‘animosity =sexual tension’ tropes it embodies) because it’s not a healthy, compatible shipwhile the canon ships: Maiko and Kataang are much more in line with thecharacters and their goals and have the chance to be long-lasting and happy.

3 Amazing Ways You Can Re-Parent Yourself
Everyone makes mistakes. What matters is what you do about it. Our friends at YourTango share their story. It's not too late. Not everyone is fortunate enough to grow up in a household that helps children learn from their mistakes. Even if your parents were kind and caring, some parents put unbelievable pressure on their kids to be perfect. That means that when you made a mistake as a child, you were often reprimanded or made to feel like a failure. This can impact a person for the rest of their lives and cause them to feel angry. But there is hope; things don't have to be this way forever. Here's how you can learn from your mistakes and basically re-parent yourself. 1. Compassionate accountability In my office, I've heard from clients stories of broken phones, punched walls, and even bent steering wheels. All in the name of anger. At themselves. For making a mistake. What You Didn't Get When a parent sits down with a child who has behaved badly, used poor judgment, or made a mistake, and says, "Let's figure out what happened," that parent is teaching her (or his) child Compassionate Accountability. But many parents don't know that it's their job to teach their child how to process a mistake, how to sift through what happened and sort out what part of it belongs to circumstances, and what part belongs to the child. What can we learn from this? What should you do differently next time? There is a balance between all of these factors which must be understood. The parent holds the child accountable, but also helps him (or her) understand himself and have compassion for himself and his mistake. What To Give Yourself If your parents were too hard or too easy on you for mistakes, or failed to notice them at all, it's not too late for you now. You can learn Compassionate Accountability today. Follow these steps when you make a mistake. * Remind yourself that you are human, and humans are not perfect. Everyone makes mistakes. * Think through the situation. What went wrong? Are there things you should have known, or realized, or thought about? Those are the parts that you own. Those are where you'll find the lessons for you to take away from this. Take note of what you can learn and etch it into your memory. This can be the growth that results from your error. * Have compassion for your humanness: Your age, your stress level, and the many factors that contributed to this mistake. * Vow that next time you'll use your new knowledge to do better. Then put this behind you. 2. Self-discipline We are not born with the ability to manage our impulses. Self-discipline is not something that you should expect yourself to have automatically. Self-discipline is learned. In childhood. What You Didn't Get When parents have rules and enforce them firmly and with love, they are naturally teaching their children how to do this for themselves. Do your homework before you go out to play. Fill the dishwasher, even though you don't want to. You are not allowed to have a second dessert. Balanced, fair requirements enforced with care by your parents teach you how, years later, to do this for yourself. What To Give Yourself If you struggle with self-discipline more than most other people, it does not mean that you are weak-willed or less strong than others. It only means that you didn't get to learn some important things in childhood. Never fear, you can learn them now. Follow these steps. * Stop blaming yourself for your struggles with self-discipline. When you accuse yourself of being weak or deficient, you make it harder to get a foothold on making yourself do things you don't want to do, and on stopping yourself from doing things that you shouldn't do. * Stop going in the opposite direction. If you are too hard on yourself at times, chances are high that you also, at other times, go too far in the opposite direction. Do you sometimes let yourself off the hook when you don't follow your own rules? This, too, is damaging. * Use the Compassionate Accountability skills you are building by applying them each time you fall down on self-discipline. 3. Learn to love the real you We all learn to love ourselves in childhood; that is, when things go well. When we feel our parents' love for us, it becomes our own love for ourselves, and we carry that forward through adulthood. What You Didn't Get We tend to assume that if our parents loved us, that's enough. But it isn't necessarily, at all. There are many different ways for a parent to love a child. There's the universal type of parental love: "Of course, I love you. You're my child." Then there's real, substantive, meaningful parental love. This is the love of a parent who really watches the child, really sees and knows the child, and really loves the person for who he or she truly, deeply is. What To Give Yourself Most people receive at least some of the first type of love. Far fewer receive the second type. Do you feel that your parents truly know the real you? Do they love you for who you are? Do you love yourself this way? Truly and deeply? If you sense something is missing in your love for yourself, it may be because you didn't receive enough genuine, deeply felt love from your parents. But it's not too late for you to get it. You can give it to yourself. * Accept that it's not your fault that your parents couldn't love you in the way you needed. * Start paying more attention to yourself. Who are you? What do you love and hate, like and dislike, care about, feel, think? These are the aspects of you that make you who you are. * Pay special attention to what's good about you. Make a list and keep adding to it. Are you a loyal friend? A hard worker? Dependable? Caring? Honest? Write down everything that occurs to you, even if it's very small. Re-read the list often. Take these qualities in and own them. They are you.
