He is! He's just scoping everybody's out #Noticing who's more pushy when they're trying to deal with penelope than they are with him #He's got twenty years of politics to catch up on! And he's going to be sneaky about it #Odysseus post return gaining a reputation for being uninvolved and uncaring only to pull the rug out from underneither the other person #Penelope is a okay with this for many many reasons #First off her system is one of beauty and the fact that her husband didn't spend all her hard work to take back over the second he came bac #Is rare and penelope is grateful everyday for who she married #Second she gets to show off look at how well she did odysseus look at how clever she is ody ody watch as I scam these people isn't that hot #(It is and yes of course odysseus was watching)#Penelope enjoying how odysseus lays out over her like a lazy lion #It scratches her possessive side to show him off like this and she gets to play with his hair #Telemachus attending some of these meetings to learn (tm) and spending the whole time deeply embarrassed #Odypen being 🥰🤝 rat bastards in love

Maybe unpopular opinion but I don't care that much about the rat grinders and I really don't get why people would be mad that the bad kids went for the kill especially when people are brought back to life so easily lol

Like I enjoyed the back and forth and their situation is interesting as antagonists and foils but getting so upset that the main characters fought them ruthlessly when they have no real emotional connection to them is ridiculous.

What reason would the bad kids have to not kill them ? Especially when killing them is not necessarily permanent and they had to deal with them and jace and porter. Also are we forgetting that they had a whole ass corrupted shard inside them that put them under Porter's control? So they had to die to even try to be reasoned with.

#if you really like them good for you #but we have been following the bad kids for 3 seasons THEY are the main characters #they have spent 3 years dealing with world ending shit with little recognition #they are soo tired and they had to deal woth the rat grinders petty bullshit #so no idc that they rightfully said you know what ? fuck off and die #fantasy high #fantasy high junior year #dimension 20 #d20 #d20 fhjy #the bad kids #to me the rat grinders are just fun character foils #lucy frostblade is the exception bc she is a beautiful tragedy love that girl

I really love hope is a thing with feathers and I also really LOVE the hope as a sewer rat poem too but I wish it was not explicity written as "well actually" against Dickinson asgvsjnk. The imagery is SO GOOD but this whole vibe of "my metaphor is better than your metaphor" kinda sours it for me

#i dont like the patronizing usage of ''Emily'' like theyre explaining something to a child #admittedly dickinson has been dead for over a century so its probably huge deal to talk about her flippantly in terms of poetry #this is just me personally. how i feel about it #i dont like her being namedropped like that #it has this energy of ''haha lemme school this bitch''#when the poem itself was never supposed to see the light of day. she never consented to it being published. girl was 5 years in the grave #it feels like making fun of somebodys diary #i also dont like how it kinda makes fun of dickinson's imagery of hope as something ''beautiful delicate'' thing #i always interpreted as it is told. a little bird. i pictured a fat fluffy thing like the ones i see outside my window #ive known them to be stubborn and mischivious #when we leave out seeds on the lawn the little ones are always bullied away by the crows and magpies #but they keep trying. theyll attempt to sneak over and peck away before the crows notice them #they ARE optimistic and resilient little things. tougher than they look #so i always found the metaphor apt #sewer rat also fits just as well. but i think it depends on the angle from how youre looking at it #so i dont like this vibe of ''it should be more RAW it should be UGLIER'' cuz even tho i love that style of writing #it just feels like unnecessary one-upping here #especially considering dickinson was severely depressed and tons of her poems reflect it #god forbid she dabble around with the occasional light hearted poem about seeing hope as a silly little bird #asgsjsnk sorry im not trying to make a statement or anything. ill delete this later probably

Sometimes I just look at Isabeau and just know that if isat came out and I got into it when I was like 16 he would be my favorite character and I would've gone absolutely buck wild over this man and feel like he was laser targeting me. But alas Odile has a grip of steel on me rn due to her virtue of being a middle aged woman

#rat rambles #stars posting #I feel like the biggest change in my taste in characters as the years have gone by is Im now far more biased towards old ppl lol #although tbf I was also the one person in 2016 who actually liked asgore so maybe Ive always liked parhetic old ppl #but yeah the reason isa is past me bait is because hes an exploration and subversion of the sort of tropes I Hated as a kid #and I still dont like them so isa still appeals to me its just not as much as he would have to a younger me #I do genuinely love all the party very dearly tho theyre all soooo good #I think my favorite part of isabeau is how like. of everyone we get to see the least facets of him but like in a very good way #this is a man who hides and bottles shit hes so fun to rotate #his self image is so carefully controlled compared to everyone else which makes him an incredibly interesting character to analyze #and I love that despite him seeming like the most emotionally stable person here on the surface he still clearly has like. hashtag issues.#like he's in that beautiful zone where its so so fun imagining what it would look like to truly break him #<- normal things that normal ppl say. like me.#I may have my very light beef with alt looping aus as a concept but hes probably the most interesting alternate looper to me #also my light beef exclusively relates to king quest stuff which is why Im a big fan of duo looper aus with sif #but honestly. isa might be the only one that I genuinely think works better as a solo looper even with taking king quest into account #although bonnie comes close. I <3 looper bonnie I <3 seeing fictional children go through the horrors #I think theres a lot of fun to be had with any alt looper au tho I just am a huge king quest fan so I like it when my favorite elements of #it dont have to be handwaved #but yeah the real question is how would younger me feel about mirabelle #because on the one hand: acearo character #but on the other hand: I have always been a little hater abt romance so idk if younger me would rly be able to follow her character well #I wasnt exactly good at character analysis back then lol #except for the instances in which I was but I dont have that sort of faith in my younger self #yknow Im thinking abt my history of favorite characters now and I think me being one of few 2016 alphys enjoyers might have been a prophecy #she was my quote unquote third favorite but in reality she was second #I think she chara and peridot su teamed up to define my taste in fictional characters for the next several years #and somehow that lead to olivia becoming one of my favorite fictional characters of all time #I say somehow as if that isnt a very natural conclusion

#each collei is a beautiful macrocosmic specimen to be analyzed in its own right #i do think the best and most canon-adherent way to reconcile between the two though is to recognize her emulation of amber #in both personality and appearance #as pretty much an explicitly canon thing if albeit exclusive to the game #& while i think it was meant to be a like. cute moeblob marketing strat and not a genuine extension of how she might develop #post black fire incident #it does tie really well into the webtoon establishing collei's fundamental lack of self identity & her pathological need to assume a Role #as per lee @haidengjie's dissertation: shes always either the unclean or the plague or the villain. shes never just collei #the last time she was seen as purely just Collei was also the last time she ever heard her mothers voice....#and ever since she has been denied the opportunity to exist even as a person w basic human rights #shes never been allowed to be simply just a child let alone herself #amber befriending collei for who she is & demonstrating she sees her more than just some street rat (who had KILLED TWO DIPLOMATIC ENVOYS #NONETHELESS) & insisting she would never abandon her #just changed. everything. for the first time there was no role to play no stage no script #the curtains fell... god i still love that scene Collei is just trying so hard to play the villain and amber obstinately refuses to let her #insisting that they are both friends and equals and wholeheartedly believing in collei's capacity for good and kindness #ITS SOOO INTERESTING BECAUSE OF COURSE AS SOON AS COLLEI LEARNS SHE DOESNT HAVE TO PLAY A ROLE #SHE'LL STILL SCRAMBLE NONETHELESS FOR A NEW ONE BECAUSE ITS ALL SHES EVER KNOWN #SO OF COURSE SHE WOULD TAKE UP THE ROLE OF AMBER!!!!!!! *WALKSINTO A LARGE PIT #god im still upset about windblume though they contextualized her amber roleplay as a coping mechanism #not for her identity issues or general ptsd but instead this like. palatable relatable version of social anxiety #which dont get me wrong i do adore and relate to that aspect of colleis character a lot but its coming from a framework that completely #disregards her personality from her source material and it really just feels like a flanderization to appear more marketable #Okay i have homeowrk to do byebye
