post-canon, wei wuxian, lan wangji and jiang cheng are body-swapped by a forest fairy who gets fed up with them traipsing around her sacred forest while quarreling. jiang cheng goes into wei wuxian, wei wuxian goes into lan wangji and lan wangji goes into jiang cheng.

fun ideas:

lan wangji is weirdly jealous because jiang cheng gets to know wei wuxian's body in ways, he never will. his jealousy gets more intense if jiang cheng threw himself between wei wuxian and the fairy's soulswapping beam.

wei wuxian is delighting in the opportunity to show off all his cool cultivation tricks again. leading to a lot of jianghu gossip about the second jade of lan's concerningly intense courting of the sandushengshou. when wei wuxian smiles brightly with lan wangji's face and laughs fully with lan wangji's voice, jiang cheng has the uncomfortable realization that he could under the right circumstances find lan wangji attractive.

wei wuxian cannot tolerate spicy food. lan wangji almost spits out his typical lan fair. jiang cheng thinks this is hilarious.

neutral ideas

jiang cheng rakes wei wuxian over the coals for not focusing on building a solid golden core and immediately starts working on it. wwx tells him that it's useless since mo xuanyu started late and was never much of a cultivator, only for jiang cheng to perform spectacularly. wei wuxian is flabberghasted, shidi how? then begrudgingly impressed with jiang cheng's ability to make the best out of what he's got. jiang cheng, however, believes wei wuxian is making fun of him and claiming it's not hard and it's easy and that anyone could figure it out. jiang cheng doesn't know that wei wuxian, lan wangji and a number of renowned lan elders have tried less successfully to do what he's doing. lan wangji is forced to endure being shown up in silence as jiang cheng genuinely believes anyone can figure out how to best cultivate when one had a late start. jiang cheng knows how to do this because he took anyone in after the massacre and taught disciples of all kind to reach their full potential.

As far as I know, the two writers that posted on their personal socials are the only writers from ST that even have personal accounts that are public, whereas the rest of the writers do not.

What does make me take a pause though, is that, while yes they did post these pictures from their personal accounts, which is about as official as it gets, they also cryptically did not include themselves in said pictures...

This just got me thinking about how Stranger Things is quite literally Netflix and vise versa. They are practically one in the same, where one without the other just doesn't make sense.

While this conflict of interest might run deep for many writers out there fearing to speak out against their employer, for us, the consumers, the fans, we as a collective have so much more power than we realize.

In contrast to the writers, streamers can't just fire their consumer base sometime down the line, out of spite for speaking out. Without consumers, neither Stranger Things nor Netflix would be what it is today.

We have the affordance of being able to speak up the loudest of anyone. And so why wouldn't we take advantage of that?

There are so many people out there protesting: writers, actors, others in the industry and even outside of it who are also taking a stand, many who need support so that they can continue to fight in the upcoming days, weeks, months, without being deterred by corporations that are making them feel greedy for demanding a contract that at most, asks that they be paid fairly.

And so I want to encourage anyone that is reading this, but fellow fans of Stranger Things especially, who have so much power in this strike when it comes to getting Netflix's attention, to consider taking the time to do whatever you can individually + with the masses as a community in order to best support the strike.

Follow the Strike! If you're active on various social media already, please be sure to follow the official accounts advocating for the strike via Instagram (@writersguildwest/@wgaeast), via Twitter (@WGAWest/@WGAEast). Engage with posts from folks that are out there daily, many with whom you can find by following tags like #WGAStrong, #WGAStrike and #WritersStrike. Although most fans are not able to join in picketing themselves, we can at least recognize all of those out there's individual efforts and do our best to show that we're paying attention and listening!

Spread the word! Show support any way you can by sharing posts and articles about the strike, or even fun memes to inform others in a more engaging way. This is the official site for the WGA strike if you want to learn more about what’s going on before diving in! And make sure to stay up-to-date here as things continue to unfold!

thinking about doing a month-long event for the homestuck tumblr community to encourage people to make + post fanworks as well as reblog other people's fanworks.... where people can opt-in by being randomly assigned one of two teams (probably red and blue) so that each team has roughly the same amount of members. teams get points for making fanworks and having their posts reblogged, which encourages people to make posts and also reblog the posts made by their team members. and the top 3 people in each team to get the most points get some kind of reward... hmmmm

I didn't know Katara also had silver marks on the Kintsugi AU. How did you come up with that idea? Is it an in-universe cultural thing? If it is, is it exactly the same as Zuko's or does the Water Tribe have their own beliefs around it?

Hello, and thanks for asking!

Initially, Kintsugi was a strictly Fire Nation tradition. Something to hold over the rest of the nations, and deepen their own belief of cultural superiority. Zuko hiding his scars played into that idea, since having gold inlaid in your body is a clear sign of Fire Nation blood—furthermore, High Fire Nation blood.

That being said, one lovely anon gave the suggestion that perhaps the other nations also have their own kinds of Kintsugi, and I fell in love with the idea. @ican-fixitbooks went even deeper into the particular philosophies of each nation regarding Kintsugi. I'll be using some quotes from them—watch for the italics.

It was during said brainstorming session that I thought of Katara having a silver Kintsugi scar, and how could it be used to enhance the themes of ATLA, Katara's arc, and this AU as a whole.

But a little background is necessary, I believe.

Kintsugi is a tradition practiced worldwide, with minor differences in philosophy/technique according to each nation.

The Earth Kingdom seal their scars with a substance that resembles bronze, as the mentality of breaking yourself down to build yourself back up better than you were is very central to their culture. It is used as a way to celebrate one's victories, made all the better if damage was taken to achieve it.

The elite have rather different views on this practice. They believe themselves to be above such things. That which is broken must be hidden away, which has interesting connotations when thinking about a certain blind earthbender.

The Air Nomad philosophy leans towards a naturalist approach. Anything natural doesn't need to be "improved" in their eyes. If a scar is there, it is there. Let it be there as a part of you, no different than any other, no need to be "made better", but in fact better to just "be".

Kintsugi is a cultural practice meant to celebrate making something beautiful out of something broken, arguably even making it better than it was. During Sozin's reign and forward, Kintsugi became a way to show the Fire Nation's superiority. Especially as that is essentially their philosophy for war: "Breaking the rest of the world so it can be reforged in fire, made a better, more perfect place."

As for the Water Tribes, there's the healing factor to take into account. The Northern Water Tribe isolated itself from the rest of the world once the war began, so they hold tight to their traditions and beliefs. If something is not broken, then why attempt to fix it? Kintsugi is scoffed at in the North—it is a foreign practice, one that is not necessary when all your wounds can be healed with bending.

However, the Southern Water Tribe has been exposed to the world. They have seen war. They have lived through it. They have suffered, but they are also free because of it, if only in spirit. The South is strong and proud and bold, so it comes as no surprise that silver Kintsugi becomes the mark of their warriors, their hunters, their people.

Katara was wounded during the last Southern Raid. After losing Kya in such a terrible way, Hakoda made sure to seal Katara's wound with the silver of their warriors, so that she would always remember that despite having been broken, she is still strong, beautiful, and proud.

The scar itself is long and thin, going from her right shoulder up to her jaw. It loosely resembles lightning.

And despite how she got it, despite all the things she lost on that day, despite it being a constant reminder of her mother's death—Katara loves her scar.

It grounds her. It pushes her forward. You are a warrior, it tells her. You are a survivor.

When Katara arrives at the North, her scar becomes yet another thing the Northerners hold against her. They use it to demean her, just as they do her gender and out-spoken personality.

The North believes a lot of things that Katara always considered natural to be a problem. What does it matter that she is a woman? What is wrong about being passionate? Why should having a scar mean she's broken?

This scar is something they cannot touch. The Northerners try to use it to demean her. To make her small. Self-conscious. Worthless.

They're scoffing at her mother's death.

Her strength.

Her beauty.

Her pride.

Her story.

And she will not allow it.

second of all, wow- what an honour to inspire creativity in someone! thank you for this ask!

my older bf!simon is tall, probably 6’4 and he’s got broad shoulders and a barrel chest. thick arms and legs and he’s got that quarter sleeve tattoo on (i think) his left arm.

with age, his stomach has lost some of the tightness of his muscles so it’s a bit softer- but you can tell there are abs under there.

i imagine he’s got dirty blonde hair, and he usually keeps it buzzed for ease. his eyes are brown to me, a really warm brown. his nose is crooked, from being broken and his face probably has a couple scars here and there.

i do think he looks angry often, but he’s not, that’s just his resting face. i also imagine that under his clothes he’s littered with more scars- around his ribs and thighs.

i always ALWAYS imagine him wearing a pair of running shorts and a zip-up sweatshirt, probably a pair of sneakers. otherwise, it’d be a fitted t-shirt and a pair of sweatpants- he’s usually barefoot around the house.

i imagine he falls asleep on the couch watching the footy with his hands in the pockets of his sweatshirt with his long hairy legs crossed and his head back against the couch.

to me simon looks strong, he looks tired, he looks grumpy- but he also looks inherently loveable x

At that, Sora's expression falls. She looks inexplicably sad, as if she'd hoped for a different response, a gentler one despite knowing the harsh truth about the dark future and the struggles Echo must have suffered. "But you had Grovyle, right? I'm sure he took care of you."

"He did, Sora, of course he did." A sigh, a flick of an ear and claws clenched tightly into the churned earth pressed under her paws. "I doubt I deserved his attention, though. I was too busy being angry at the world to give any care back."

In my lore, Echo does not look fully human during their time in the dark future. Since they were Darkrai before becoming human, and as a result of Palkia's reckless shattering of the Dimensional Portal which distorted both time and space, Echo's transformation was broken and accidental. They ended up looking pretty messed up and definitely (not) human. A lot of their characteristics as Darkrai carried over but rather morphed into something else.

And Grovyle, growing up in a world where humans have been extinct for longer than any living pokémon has been alive, has no concept of what a "true" human looks like. The only thing he knows is descriptions of humans from glyphs and texts in old ruins. Thus, he mistakes Echo for an actual human. And Echo, not knowing what a human looks like themselves due to amnesia, accepts this identification with nothing better to use.

Seen a few people too many discuss the concept of Dragodile Baby 2 and my hot take is that there's no way in hell Crocodile would ever detransition just to go through nine months of horrible dysphoria again, let alone go through pregnancy ever again (or allow Ivankov to even touch him, what if they died and weren't able to trans Croc's gender again afterwards? Hell naw, ain't worth the risk)

Listen, hear me out.

Bokuto invites Akaashi over to spend weekends and holidays at your shared home often - even during weeks where he has to be closer to certain parts of the city for work. And, of course, you never mind. Akaashi is your boyfriend's best friend and he's a lovely guest to have and great company! You never mind giving up your spare bed to him.

Now, imagine, for one of these planned visits Akaashi arrives just a little bit earlier than usual and unwittingly catches you both in the middle of the deed - your legs pinned by your head Bokuto ruts into you with abandon.

Of course, Akaashi leaves to give you both some privacy! Comes back at the time he was supposed to instead to give him enough time to cool down. But, of course, now he can't look you in the eye the entire time he's over - images of how your body bent to his friend's will, how sinful your moans were - all of it went straight through him whenever your sweet eyes looked at him. And, despite his best efforts. Bokuto notices.

And, despite how quickly Akaashi fled, Bokuto knew he watched.

I'm sure it's been discussed at length already but I think it's easy to assume saiyans are strong so their genes are dominant but I (like to) think it's the opposite. It's interesting to think that the ecological nature of a saiyan is stealthy and invasive, and according to Jaco a saiyan invasion was going to be extra dangerous to earth because they look like earthlings (and a lot of other human-like races in the db universe) and one baby saiyan will easily go completely undetected until it starts the extermination process.

so it actually makes a lot of sense to me that a saiyan hybrid would take more physical traits from a local species, while maintaining the potential to house a saiyan's strength and inborn power over ki (which I think due to the story following a group of people who use it is a thing we often forgotten is a super rare and dangerous ability in that universe, and inborn/instinctive to a select few very powerful races). Could also be a fun way to explain why their tails can detach and grow back, since that may be the only real Tell.

I also just find parasitism a real good meaty horror concept to put in my little 'this is why everyone's afraid of saiyans' headcanon file along with 'can see in the dark, biologically strategic energy consumption, can go long periods without food or rest' and of course the canonical 'surprise monkey werewolf kaiju'
