I like big books and I cannot lie 🎶

some books I gave recently grabbed from the library.
I liked and wanna buy Do I Have To Wear Black? Lots of good info in there on funerary customs. I wasn't sure I was gonna like it because of the Wicca mentions at first but I was actually pleasantly surprised as I got into it. I sort of blew through it tbh because I'm not super interested in like the Kemetic or Wiccan customs, just the Norse/ heathen and Hellenic, but the very general parts at the beginning were really informative. Mortellus is a mortician and 100% definitely knows what in the heck they're talking about.
I skimmed through the Thrifty Witch book and Tarot Interactions before bringing them back because those I just need to have/ buy. I need to buy those. Thrifty Witch would definitely be more useful to me as a resource than something to read if that makes sense.
and similarly with Tarot Interactions, that is an absolutely fantastic excellent book from what I read of it, and I definitely absolutely need to have that as a resource. I also feel like that's something I wanna take my time with, not rush.
Werewolf Magick was meh. I soared through it. I was rolling my eyes at far too much of it to take any of it seriously, and by the time I got to what I was interested in/ what might have helped, couldn't understand it because of all the weird lingo/ jargon that he'd set up at the beginning. Admittedly that's my own fault obviously for trying to skip to the end, but the first part just made me cringe too much. There's too much mixing of different practices in a way that imo honors none of them, and then mixing it with crap like Wicca to boot. I just... no, I'm good, no thank you. I had gotten it out of curiosity, expecting it to not be much and... yeah, it was what I expected.
Witch Queens, Voodoo Spirits, & Hoodoo has been fantastic so far and I have got to finish it. I started it and got distracted and it went back on the shelf and I've gotta get back into it. It starts with Annie Christmas who is none of the things mentioned on the cover, lol, but I love the way it talks about our local myths and legends. Absolutely A+ 100% yes.
Weave the Liminal is... surprisingly better than I expected so far? I'm not quite sure what to make of it. We'll see as we go.
I've had the ones in that first three pictures checked out for a while and I really need to get to them. I was hoping the Shamanism Bible would give me some words to look up, a good place to start research into that but it feels like too much of a chore. The charm bag and ancestor books I just keep forgetting I have, and I expected the New Orleans one to be a quick read but again keep forgetting it's there.
Did I grab too many books? Yes, every damn time. I have maxed out how many I can borrow from the library. Oooops. xD
I absolutely had to grab The Holy Wild Grimoire though when I saw it on the shelf because that has been on my wishlist for a while and I love checking out books before buying them. I feel much better about purchasing when I already know I like them.

How a braided shaman amulet is created and why it works.. Magic threads weave between the fingers, creating a beautiful and unique work of art - an amulet capable of realizing intentions and wishes. Each thread contains not only the material essence, but also the energy of thoughts, feelings and desires. Breathing life into every knot of the amulet created by hands, an incredible transformation takes place. The breath transfers part of the spirits' power and energy into the amulet, charging it. This moment becomes a link between our intentions and the amulet, opening doors to opportunities and influencing our destiny. Weaving each knot is not only an act of creativity, but also a kind of prayer. The amulet becomes a personal talisman filled with dreams and aspirations of a person. When the amulet is ready, it immediately begins to "work". First, by creating an amulet, making a request, then interacting with it, we direct our thoughts and energy into it It becomes a conduit of our intentions into the world, attracting events, people and opportunities that will help us realize our dreams. This shamanic amulet becomes our ally, a real source of strength and faith in our capabilities. This is not only a ritual, but also a powerful way to connect with your own inner strength. And this is a great way to make your dreams and desires come true, discover your potential and create a happy and successful life.

កូនក្រក [Koan Kroach]
In relation to Khmer /Cambodian Esoteric Practices
Disclaimer:
My ancestors are more into divination and practices related to those fields versus actual baneful magick (or what some may call black magic) as baneful magick is still perceived as a taboo.
However, I personally like to explore and inform myself of other forms of magic within Khmer Culture because the differences of practices are interesting.
This post is based on my research and brief encounters of it. Like when I was a kid, I saw one at someone's house and was freaking out internally because I literally thought I was next and that my folks were selling me out to this person lmfao like Hansel and Gretal vibes.
What is Koan Kroach?
The phrase, កូនក្រក [koan-kroach], literally translates to “dried child” but in a cultural context, this refers to a type of mummified fetal amulet. The creation of this amulet is considered an esoteric practice where the fetus is obtained from the first pregnancy of a woman who has either: 1) died in childbirth (OR) 2) obtained from a living pregnant woman
Quick Info
The veneration of “Koan Kroach” in Khmer/Cambodian culture has similarities and differences to “Kuman Thong” from Laos, Thailand and other SE Asian countries such as the Philippines. In accordance with the previous information and in relation to Khmer/Cambodian practices, it is important to mention that this is one of the most important rules: To successfully make a “Koan Kroach”, the fetus must be willingly gifted by the mother to the father. As a result, this kind of implies that the making of a “Koan Kroach” relates to an “ancestor/spirit” from the wife’s lineage but up to your discretion/interpretation as the research I did also said that if you obtain a “Koan Kroach", you should never tell anyone you have it because of the heavy spirituality purposes attached to it.
The Origins and Purpose:
It is said that there is a long tradition of the use of “Koan Kroach” in Khmer/Cambodian and the first foreigner to report this practice in Cambodia was French ethnologist, Etienne Aymonier. In his report, he states that... "In-laws would avoid keeping a young couple too far during the first pregnancy as a means to protect the pregnant mother and her baby in the womb." But what is “Koan Kroach” exactly? The amulet itself is like a symbol of protection or as a way to grant supernatural powers. The person who usually becomes the “father” of the “Koan Kroach” has to mummify it while making offerings and rites. This is not done without a practitioner who has expertise in magic. In this ritual, the practitioner will include awaking the “fetus” with magic.
There’s actually more to this ritual where it also includes stones, offerings and all of that but I am not informed of all the details.
Now, it is said that if the Koan Kroach are twins, then the amulet is believed to be highly powerful.
So, in the ritual where they awaken the fetus, it is said that they would appease the spirit and the fetus would be sewn into a pouch. If we compare this practice to modern times, there’s a lot of ghost related stories and songs about this and according to a Cambodian anthropologist, the usages of “Koan Kroach” tends to be greater during periods of national instability.
Let's explore the Cultural Context:
Disclaimer:
First, these types of things all varies as not every individual or family practices this. From my knowledge of it, there are people out there who do believe that they can gain supernatural powers, guidance and/or protection from the fetus of someone's first pregnancy.
The actual power of the amulet is derived from the spirit, and not the actual fetus, itself. The “fetus” is considered to act as a “vessel” but you are supposed to treat it like a child and take care of it as this amulet is supposed to protect you. Additionally, the requirement to make a “Koan Kroach” is a human embryo that has not yet come to term.
The individuals who usually end up wearing this amulet are male soldiers and he who wishes to benefit from it, should first get his wife or girlfriend pregnant.
Scenario 1:
When the time is right, he may then jokingly asks if she will give him the child in her belly; the woman, believing this is a game, says yes. Saying “yes” is essential as words of willingness is to provide the amulet power. [Warning/Explicit] So, he then would cut her open, removes the fetus, and smoke/mummifying it basically.
Scenario 2:
The man can also retrieve it another way and this would be from the corpse of the woman (who has been buried with her unborn fetus). He must first awaken her and he should be able to overcome the fear and backlash that is to come about from awaking the dead as it is a belief that you should not disturb the dead. If he is able to overcome this backlash and retrieves permission from the corpse, he can proceed with the process of creating a Koan Kroach and will wear it as an amulet around his neck or waist. The smoked or golden fetus becomes the guide and protector of its owner, speaking to him in dreams to give guidance and warns him of dangers ahead.
Media and Entertainment Adaptions:
A blockbuster horror movie titled "Koan Kroach" was released to cinemas in Cambodia on November 9th, 2018.
However, this was blocked from advertising online by major social networks and platforms as they said it contained high levels of violence towards women.

We shamans are often ask about amulets, charms, protections ,talismans ,and other sacred items that can help us humans to gain an edge over our enemies, and those who wish to control our lives .This is a very real question that has to do with our own understanding of the word magic, and the use of objects to that effect. Take for example the words here in this coin good luck ,and the key point is the treble which has a meaning of love, luck, hope and faith. The idea is that if you do find one in a field of only three clover leaves ,good luck will follow you .This according to an Irish tradition. Then there is also the belief that a four leaf clover will allow you to see faeries. In olden days this was considered dangerous if you were caught by the faeries which would kidnap you and off you go to live with them often underground. Well, then there’s the coin preferably a gold coin .But again each culture through the ages has created its own tales that are somehow irrelevant to this new generation.Well ,we shamans have known that any object that has been worn by a client , ring , necklace ,bracelet made of silver or gold could be used with proper incantation, mantra ,sprinkle with a potion and placed under a full moon rays overnight acquire such a good luck power so to speak. Mind you there are many shamans that avoid such practice if it involves money, because the consequences. Even you could do that if done correctly, but i won’t even go there. As long as you are honest and no harm is done to others. You may be granted such good luck. These days you may require holy water ,that is a Christian,a catholic request but not many churches are willing to to give you such water, shamans often use rose water that you can find commonly these you must sprinkle over your charm and let it rest 24 hours in a red handkerchief ,or small red towel.Well,I have said enough .Well ,good luck then.Words by Sergio GuymanProust.

Collecting And Utilizing Magick Charms

My personal charm collection.
Magick charms are small, enchanted objects used for protection, luck, attraction, and spiritual power. Witches, shamans, and mystics have used charms for centuries to enhance spells, manifest intentions, and guard against negative forces. This comprehensive guide will help you collect, store, and use charms effectively in your witchcraft.
What is a Magick Charm?
A magick charm is any object infused with energy or intention to create a desired effect. Unlike talismans (which attract energy) or amulets (which repel energy), charms can do both, depending on their purpose.
Uses of Magick Charms in Witchcraft:
• Protection – Shields against negative energy, hexes, and harm.
• Luck & Prosperity – Draws fortune, money, and success.
• Love & Attraction – Enhances self-love, relationships, and passion.
• Healing & Wellness – Promotes emotional, physical, and spiritual health.
• Psychic Abilities & Divination – Strengthens intuition, dreamwork, and spirit communication.
• Manifestation & Goal Achievement – Focuses energy on specific desires.
Collecting Magick Charms
Magick charms can be found, crafted, or gifted. The key is choosing objects that resonate with your energy and intention.
Where to Find Charms:
• Nature – Stones, feathers, shells, acorns, bones, dried herbs.
• Thrift Shops & Antique Stores – Old jewelry, keys, trinkets, coins.

Warden Indrix, Goatfolk Pariah is a really interesting character. He's at the crux of Qud's reckoning with its own inheritance of colonialist fantasy genre tropes, but what does he actually say?
The goatfolk are hostile to nearly everything, populating the jungle in roles such as "shaman" and "bully" (formerly "savage"). The fellowship of wardens, straining to exercise a monopoly on the legitimate use of violence, guarding friendly villages, the "cozy" parts of the game, form the other side of this civilization/wilderness dynamic that players and authors alike have had to reckon with.
The game explicitly frames this conflict in terms of land and locates it in Indrix's neck of the woods in Council at Gamma Rock: "Four wardens from the southern banks of the River Svy ascended the rostrum and reported on goatfolk incursions. The villages of Shebal and Ekamas were sacked inside of a month. The wardens recommended mounting a counteroffensive." Indrix is an outcast goatfolk warrior who now lives in this part of the jungle as a warden.
A parallel here could be drawn to the Arbiter Thel 'Vadam in the Halo series—a reformed warrior who has switched to the side of humanism and order, and a powerful ally. Remember goatfolk savages being renamed? Did you know that the rank of Arbiter was originally called Dervish in the writing for Halo 2 until concerns arose that it would make the human-versus-covenant war read as too much of a US-versus-Islam allegory? Being sci-fi like Qud, Halo also inherits a particular vision of jungles rooted not only in the literature of the world of 1492 but also in Vietnam War literature—in the same way that Star Wars has its forest moon of Endor, inextricably tied up with Apocalypse Now [and therefore, to return back to those earlier roots, The Heart of Darkness].
But while Halo pits its marines against the forces of the Prophet of Truth in a noble struggle to save humanity and Star Wars has its guerillas fighting alongside spear-throwing Ewoks against the evil Empire, Qud's goatfolk/wardens conflict isn't the engine of the narrative. It's a line in an in-game book, a haunting of the jungles with sense memories, and a side quest that comes down to carrying out a fratricide plot [Biblical stylings here] against a cult leader whose sanity-frying power source might be the closest thing in the game to the type of metaphysical evil typically found as the antagonist in roguelike games. Here, the quest to retrieve the Amulet of Yendor for the forces of order is a minor tragedy played out on the sidelines of a much larger narrative whose antagonists (on multiple levels) are materially understood colonizers.
This is a lot to try to unpack. I haven't even gotten into Nuntu and Erah's comments about goatfolk or any of Indrix's own dialogue[!!] here. It's a really messy area. I haven't gotten into the Naphtaali. I want to consider the ways in which Indrix is specifically sexualized in fan responses to the game, in terms of his strength and "goatish nature" and the ways in which he is marked, and what connections there are here with the figure of the brute in the colonial sexual imaginary. I want to consider Mayor Nuntu, the ape who has given up bludgeoning things to death and put on a hat, and the Svenlainard -> Crowsong dynamic, and what Kyakukya as a whole is doing in the narrative of Qud. I think there's something about the stages of development of national consciousness, something Fanonian in there, particularly in relation to Mamon's association with insanity and Indrix's violent responses. What is it? I don't know yet but it's interesting.

Totems provide fulfillment, depth, and entry into many spiritual doors. They bring qualities such as flexibility, agility, clairvoyance, intuition, and other qualities that are very helpful in life. In times of danger, they come to our defense. They protect and dieter enemies. They bring health. Totems are strongly connected to the thread of life. Establishing a connection with a totem restores a person's energetic field. It becomes more integrated, dense, and agile. The aura's color becomes more uniform and vibrant. Strong totems also help advance in society. However, it's important to never forget that each totem has both lower and higher aspects. It depends on the individual which path he chooses to follow. The corresponding qualities will manifest. Totems are necessary for everyone. It is what the system tries to deprive us of. In totems lie our strength, our roots, and our connection with the Earth.

Jenny is cursing in Zetan. I can tell because my scramblers are going off. You've got class 2 cognitohazards going on, Jennster. Not bad for psychically-untrained incoherent rage.
Mapinguari are a Class One Protected Cryptid! They're sapient titanoforma with a shamanic culture, and a rich oral tradition. The Brazilian Government outlawed killing them for any reason other than self defense in the thirties!!
Self defense?
They used to twist the heads off humans and drink from their necks. But they don't do that basically ever anymore!
Of course they don't. Well, at least this person is trying to rectify it.
Sorry. Sorry. It's not your fault, you're trying to do the right thing. You should contact the, uh, Ministério do Anormalidades, I think it's called, they can provide further guidance about what to do with the coat; a lot of times they'll use it for education, or give it to orphaned Mapinguari as a comfort object.
Assuming you're in Brazil, anyway. If you’re in the US, it’s covered under the Illicit Supernatural Goods Buyback Program. We’ll buy it from you and ship it to the Ministério. Same thing with any number of now-illegal objects that you may have come into possession of through innocent means. Dreadswords, The Cursed Amulet, whatever.
Did you know their feet face backwards? It's a fascinating evolutionary selection; it helps them hunt.
Always funny when evolution itself has its own little extranormal jaunts. Just look at clowns.

List 5 facts about a favorite sim of yours, and send this to 10 simblrs whose sims you adore ♥♥♥
Aww, thank you! It's time to reveal something about KONAN! His eyes are up there, btw XD
1) He is a former Navy SEAL and an MMA fighter. This telling Konan is all about physicality and endurance. He loves good challenges and never misses a chance to improve his body mobility. His army mates are still his only family. (Roland, I'm looking straight at you :D)
2) Konan was born in Sulani, left his heart to the ocean. He is proficient in surfing and finds fishing calming. After the war, he worked as a fisherman on a ship in the Atlantics. Survived several storms and saw that the ocean returned his feelings.
3) He plays the guitar and drums, goes nuts about good old Metal and Epic and finds any other music genre void of power and spirit.
4) Konan's religion is shamanism. He is prone to ancient rituals, listening to the wind and waves and trusting Mother Nature. That's why he never parts with his amulets and can predict the weather or survive any cataclysm.
5) He comes from a very poor family that had to move from place to place in a van and live like hippie-gipsies. Since being a boy, he detested rich and important people and believed they were all corrupted meaningless shells. He changed his mind when he met Arwin, his new source of inspiration and trust in people.
From me I can only add that Arwin has no idea how he managed to return Konan trust in people being either depressed or anxious about his relationships with Aidan most of the time they spent together :D

Reading List
Mexican Sorcery: A Practical Guide to Brujeria de Rancho by Laura Davila
This book covers a variety of topics in brujeria de rancho ranging from amulets and talismans to pacts with Satan. This text is one of my favorite books on brujeria, and one that I consistently recommend to beginner and advanced brujos alike. It is a great starting point for reconnecting to brujeria, and also an amazing resource and referential text for more advanced practitioners.
Cleansing Rites of Curanderismo: Limpias Espirituales of Ancient Mesoamerican Shamans by Erika Buenaflor
This is a book on curanderismo specifically, however I recommend it to brujos too as it is an important subject to have knowledge about, even if you do not actively use it. It includes a variety of limpias for a variety of purposes, which I have used many times with great success. It is a staple in my library, and my favorite book on curanderismo.
American Brujeria: Modern American Folk Magic by J. Allen Cross
This book contains a great foundation for brujeria, and is greatly useful for more advanced practitioners too. My favorite part of this book is the introduction. It is fabulous at introducing brujeria, and more importantly the history behind the word. It contains a variety of subjects such as rosary magic, an entire section on vicks vaporub, and combat magic. Overall, this text is a phenomenal resource on brujeria, and is by far my favorite book on the subject.
Blood of Brujeria: Traditional Mexican Curses and Defense by Alexis A. Arredondo and Eric J. Labrado
This book strictly covers defensive and baneful brujeria, and is a great source on it. My favorite entry is that on the iron scissors, as it is rarely mentioned outside of oral tradition. It also has a GREAT section on protecting your home.
Magia Magia: Invoking Mexican Magic by Alexis A. Arredondo and Eric J. Labrado
Another great book by the authors of Blood of Brujeria. Packed full of information, my favorite being the section on divining with maize and divining with obsidian. One of my favorite books on brujeria.
