Summery: Maddie grounds Shadow so he sneaks out to see you.
And of course for the lovely @luc1dw0rld
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Life at the Wachowski house was never dull, especially after Shadow joined their growing family. His brooding nature stood out starkly against the warm, chaotic energy of the household, but deep down, he cared for them—even if he’d never admit it outright.
Today, however, Shadow wasn’t in his usual calm, composed state. He was pacing his room, his arms crossed and crimson eyes darting to the clock on the wall. The interaction echoed in his mind.
“You’re grounded, Shadow. No leaving the house, no thoting understand? You need to think about your actions.”
Shadow scoffed and rolled his eyes, him 'grounded'? Yeah no. "I'm the untalented lifeform you can't ground me." The scowl on Maddies face made him bite his tounge.
Her tone had been firm, and Tom had backed her up, which meant Shadow’s plans to see you were temporarily derailed. Maddie rarely pulled the “grounded” card, but when she did, it stuck.
Shadow huffed, glaring out the window at the setting sun. It wasn’t fair. Sure, he’d gotten into a minor argument with Sonic earlier that day—and maybe caused a little collateral damage in the process—but it wasn’t like he was in the wrong. Sonic always pushed his buttons!
He flopped onto his bed, crossing his arms over his chest as he stared at the ceiling. His mind wandered to you, as it always did when he was alone. Spending time with you was one of the few things that made him feel truly at peace.
You never judged him, never treated him like some kind of weapon or anomaly. You just... cared.But now, thanks to Maddie, he couldn’t see you.
“I don’t need their permission,” Shadow muttered to himself. His ears twitched as he listened for signs of life downstairs. The sound of laughter and a TV show told him the family was occupied.
He sat up, formulating a plan. Tails had rigged the doors and windows to set off an alarm if any were opened unexpectedly. Lucky for him, teleworking didn't set off said alarm.
It wasn’t too far of a drop, and he could use his Chaos abilities to soften his landing. With one last glance at the door he zips out the window and softens the fall with chaos energy.
“Grounded or not, I'm going,” he muttered, determination flaring in his chest.
---
When Shadow arrived at your place, you were sitting on the porch, enjoying the calm night. You looked up, startled but delighted, as he appeared seemingly out of nowhere.
“Shadow! I didn’t think I’d see you tonight,” you said, a smile spreading across your face. He crossed his arms, his usual stoic expression softening slightly.
“I wasn’t supposed to,” he admitted. You raised an eyebrow. “What do you mean?” He sighed, sitting down beside you. “Maddie grounded me. She said I needed to ‘think about my actions.’” His gloved fingers making a quotation motion as he spoke.
You stifled a laugh, imagining Shadow sulking under Maddie’s stern gaze. “What did you do?”
“It doesn’t matter,” he said quickly, his ears twitching. “What matters is that I’m here now.” You reached out, brushing your fingers against his arm. “You know it means they care about you when they ground you, right? But I’m glad you came.”
For a moment, the tension in his shoulders eased. Being with you had that effect on him. “Just don’t tell Maddoe I snuck out,” he said, a faint smirk tugging at his lips. You chuckled, leaning against him. “Your secret’s safe with me.”
And as the two of you sat together under the stars, Shadow felt that, grounded or not, moments like this were worth the risk.
Movie sonadow headcanons? Please?
Hi Honey!❤️✨
You’re always welcome to have some SCU!Sonadow headcanons from me!
The Wachowski family is mildly supportive of Sonic when it comes to relationships. That, and it wasn’t much of a surprise to them either. When Sonic approached his parents on the topic, Tom and Maddie him a tight hug and told him that they loved him no matter what.
Tom and Maddie do, however, set strict rules with Shadow. Very strict rules (protective parents). Shadow does his best to respect their wishes.
Sonic likes to take Shadow on small excursion when the two are up for it. And by “small excursions,” it’s usually traveling around the United States at high speeds to look at national parks.
Shadow purrs in his sleep if his ears are rubbed. This was an accidental discovery made by Sonic and Maddie when they found him asleep on the couch. Sonic rubs his ears if it looks like Shadow is having a nightmare.
Shadow sneaks in through Sonic’s window at night and crawls into bed with him to sleep. Sonic pretends to not notice when this happens and smiles to himself. Sonic has learned that this is a comfort thing that Shadow does when he needs it. If he questions it, then Shadow refuses to return until a week or two later.
Sonic likes to r play the guitar for Shadow on slow days. Shadow likes to quietly listen and hum if he knows the song. In return, Shadow reads to Sonic.
Shadow enjoys listening to the rain on the roof. It’s calming to the mind and it helps him relax. He doesn’t like thunder. It makes his blood run cold. If it’s thundering, Sonic cracks open the window from the roof and crawls over to his side with an umbrella.
Sonic and Shadow (mostly Shadow) like to spend hours looking through old vinyl records in music shops. Shadow is very knowledgeable in music between the fifties and early seventies. Sonic got Shadow addicted to Green Day.
Sonic was able to salvage a couple of items from the bunker that Shadow lived in after it collapsed. He recovered a few photos, some clothes, a plush spider (Shadow loves to study spiders and had many books on them), and a couple of files about Project: Shadow. He’s given them for Shadow to view and bury in the mountains to let go of the past.
Sonic and Shadow like to walk around and explore in the forest. Shadow hadn’t spent much time in the forest before due to his past, but Sonic has made it his personal mission to take Shadow to explore places that he’s only heard of. Exploring new places with Sonic usually includes Sonic bringing him random things in his hands to admire, climbing trees and eating snacks, poking things with sticks, chasing after bugs and animals to hold, and the occasional “what’s this?” and takes pictures to share with the family group chat. Shadow occasionally collects things from the forest that look cool to him.
When Sonic and Shadow go super, they leave a trail of flowers behind them on earth.
Sonic and Shadow are not ones for showing physical affection with one another publicly. If they do, they hold pinkies rather than hands. The act is meant to hold a deep meaning to the two: it’s a promise to one another. It’s a promise to be open to new possibilities, as well as be truthful to themselves. When they do link pinkies together, they mutter “always” before they proceed to their destination. (Always is in reference to their conversation on the moon).
Part Of The Family || 'Sonic 3' Tickle Fic
Tumblr media
Summary: Shadow is adapting to civilian life after decades of mistreatment and isolation. Luckily for him, his newfound family is there to show him the support and comfort he so desperately needs, albeit in rather unexpected ways.
Spoilers for ‘Sonic 3’ ahead, so read with caution!
Word Count: 3,591 words.
Tumblr media
Things had been...weird, since the battle in space, to say the very least.
Immediately after the fight, Sonic and the others had made a beeline for the hospital, and had been relieved to find Tom awake and stable. Sure, he had some broken bones, but he was ALIVE! Maddie had practically had to pry the three off of him, happy tears pouring from their eyes as they babbled out joyful exclamations. Tom had only chuckled softly, letting out a small wince as a stab of pain shot through his ribcage.
Once they had calmed down, Sonic informed the others of what went down on the moon. His fight with Shadow, how the two had managed to find common ground, how they had banded together to save the planet. As he spoke, the blue hedgehog's smile noticeably dropped, and his tone went from excited to saddened as the realization dawned on him. Shadow wasn't with them; he had sacrificed himself for a planet that cared little for him.
At least, that's what they thought. About a month after they returned home, Ozzy had started barking madly at the attic, eyes fixated at the ceiling with ears pricked. Tom had insisted that a squirrel had probably gotten into the attic while looking for shelter, though Knuckles had been convinced that a ghost was responsible. In a way, he wasn't wrong. When they'd went to investigate, instead of finding a disgruntled forest critter, they had found Shadow, a bit worse for wear but very much alive.
The black hedgehog was a mess, covered in scratches and bruises, his fur dirty and disheveled. While he had clearly recovered some of the past month, he was far from fully healed. They'd all had questions, of course. How was he still alive? Where had he been for the past month or so? Why was he there now? How did he know where they LIVED?
In the end, the answers had been simple enough. Shadow was even stronger than they'd first thought and managed to survive the explosion, albeit just barely. After crash landing somewhere in London, he'd found a darkened corner of the city to rest and tend to his injuries (he'd rather die than seek out G.U.N for help, in his own words). However, over time it became clear that he needed somewhere safer to stay, and he didn't know where else to go. He hadn't even meant for them to know he was there; he had planned on hiding out in the attic, sneaking down for food every so often and leaving as soon as he was back on his feet.
As for how he knew where they lived; the internet. He may have been an "old man," as Sonic put it, but he wasn't stupid.
Well, if Shadow had thought they were just going to leave him in the dark, musty attic, he'd been sorely mistaken. Maddie had immediately ushered him downstairs, fussing over how thin he was, the dislocations he clearly needed reset, etc. Sonic and Tails had been right behind her, babbling away about all the 21st century things they wanted to introduce him to. Meanwhile, Knuckles and Tom had lingered behind, still wary of their unexpected arrival (understandably so; Shadow could hardly blame them).
The attention was a bit overwhelming, and Shadow didn't say much for the first few weeks of his stay. He would muster up a quiet thank you when Maddie showed him kindness, and had managed to corner Tom in order to give him an apology, but otherwise he stuck to himself. Attempts to rope him into races or movie nights ranged from entirely unsuccessful to Shadow participating with mild interest, but he was clearly still apprehensive about lowering his guard, even around those actively trying to help him. His new companions had shown him a shocking amount of patience, a courtesy the black hedgehog was grateful for. He should have known such a courtesy would only last so long, especially when Sonic was involved.
...
Shadow flinched at the sound of a loud crash from somewhere in the living room, eyes narrowed and ears pricked. He gripped the kitchen counter, sandwich forgotten as he turned towards the noise on high alert. A flash of blue whizzed past him, a pair of hands suddenly gripping his shoulders from behind. The only thing that kept him from activating his chaos energy immediately was the accompanying sound of Sonic's laughter, high-pitched and slightly panicked in tone. "Shahahadow, you've gotta help me! They've gone nuts!"
The black hedgehog opened his mouth, but before he could get a word out, Knuckles came barreling into the kitchen, Tails close behind him. The two were beaming from ear to ear, mischievous expressions plastered to their faces. Sonic let out a small yelp, giggles increasing and his grip on Shadow tightening as he hid behind him.
"What is going on?" Shadow questioned, tone tinged with mild annoyance. "Let go of me." He attempted to shrug Sonic off of him, with little success.
"They're trying to torture me, that's what! Keep them FAR away from me!" The blue hedgehog replied, pointing an accusatory finger at his pursuers.
Tails chuckled, rolling his eyes at the other's dramatics. "He's just trying to escape his tickle penalty for losing Go Fish." The fox explained. "Though I don't know why he's making such a fuss, he LOVES it when we tickle him.. I wouldn't be surprised if he lost on purpose."
Though Shadow couldn't see it, Sonic's cheeks immediately turned bright red. "Lies and slahahander!" His voice cracked slightly, a nervous titter escaping at the last word. "Besides, I didn't lose, they CHEATED! That exempts me from any penalties!"
"HE lies! Hand him over so we may punish him for his transgression!" Knuckles butted in, grinning deviously as he cracked his knuckles.
Shadow's eyes flicked between the three, eyebrows raised as he scoffed. "Tickling? Isn't that a bit childish?" He asked flatly. The word DID ignite something in him; distant memories of laughter and play wrestling with Maria. His stomach did a little flip as he pushed the memories down.
"Uh, yeah, and totally FUN!" Sonic replied, resting his chin on Shadow's shoulder. The other hedgehog quickly moved away, causing Sonic to stumble forward a couple of steps. Knuckles seized his opportunity, immediately lunging for his prey with a playful growl. Sonic squealed (in a totally not girlish manner, thank you), latching back onto Shadow and flinging the other in front of him like a shield.
In that moment, two things happened. The first? Knuckles' hands frantically grabbed for something to prevent his fall; that thing just so happened to be Shadow's sides. The second? Shadow GIGGLED.
Everyone froze, eyes wide with shock. Sonic, Knuckles and Tails' mouths hung open, their gazes fixed on Shadow, who stood as still as a statue, hands latched onto Knuckles' wrists. Slowly, a light pink tinge came to his cheeks, his left ear twitching as it dawned on him exactly what he'd just done.
Sonic was the first one to break the silence. "Woohohohoa, what was THAT?" The blue hedgehog crowed, positively beaming with amusement. "Don't tell me the big, bad ultimate lifeform is TICKLISH!" He sang.
Shadow shoved Knuckles' hands off of him, crossing his arms over his torso with a huff. "I'm not ticklish. He just caught me off guard, that's all. I was SURPRISED." The explanation was weak, and they all knew it.
"Funny, I've heard of people doing a lot of things when they're surprised, but never GIGGLING." Tails was barely holding back giggles of his own.
Sonic slung an arm over Shadow's shoulder, tugging him close before he had the chance to pull away again. "Come on, don't be embarrased! So you're a little ticklish? Literally EVERYONE in this room is! You should SEE Knuckles when I get him; the dude sounds like-"
Knuckles cleared his throat, eyes narrowing. "Watch your words, hedgehog, or need I remind you how sensitive your little tummy is?"
Shadow was at a loss for words. The sudden exposure of his own sensitivity, how casually the others were talking about theirs, it was all surprisingly flustering. He felt his muscles tensing under Sonic's touch, anticipating a tickle attack at any second, which the other seemed to have taken notice of. "Hey man, don't worry! If you don't like that sort of thing, we won't tickle you! Scout's honor!"
Tails nodded, offering Shadow a gentle smile. "Yeah, tickling's no fun if everyone isn't enjoying themselves. If you want your space, we'll respect that." Knuckles hummed in agreement.
"Though I will say, you'd really be missing out. I'm the best tickle monster in Green Hills!" Sonic bragged, grinning wolfishly as he wiggled a few fingers close to Shadow's neck. The other instinctively scrunched his shoulders, expression a mixture of uncertainty and embarrassment. What the hell was he supposed to say to all that? Of course he didn't want to be tickled...did he?
"Somehow I highly doubt that. By the way you were begging me to save you earlier, I'd be more willing to believe one of those two hold that title." The words had left Shadow's lips before he knew what he was doing, tinged with a dose of sass that DEFINATELY sounded like provocation. What was he doing? He needed to take it back, to get himself out of this situation before-
Sonic's eyes went wide, an amused laugh ripping from his throat. "Ohohooo, so that's how it is, huh? If you wanted me to wreck you that badly, you could have just asked! Well, maybe that little comment WAS your way of asking, but you know what I mean! Boys, grab him!"
Knuckles and Tails shared a look, nodding before lunging towards Shadow, tackling the hedgehog to the kitchen floor with a loud THUD. Shadow bit back a yelp, struggling as the three made quick work of pinning him down. He could use his chaos energy to teleport away, but he needed to concentrate to do that, and there was no way he could do that with a flood of giddy panic racing through him (at least, that's what he told himself).
"What are you doing? Get off of me!" Shadow growled, trying to sound stern, but his words had no effect on the grinning mammals looking down at him. Knuckles took hold of Shadow's wrists, tugging them above his head while Tails flopped across his legs.
"No can do, Gerard Way! You messed with the hedgehog, now you get the quills!" Sonic hovered his hands over his captive, fingers wiggling tauntingly as he hummed. "But where should I start? I don't know WHICH spot to pick! Knuckles, any suggestions?"
The red echidna smirked down at the squirming hedgehog. “The Lord of the Donuts said you have twenty-four ribs; let’s see if HE does to!”
“What a great idea!” Sonic poised his hands over Shadow’s outstretched ribs. “We DO look alike, so let’s see if the similarities extend to other areas, shall we?”
Shadow felt his breath hitch, crimson eyes locked onto the wiggling fingers above him. “Don’t you dare!” He hissed.
“Oh, I do more than dare, my friend! I DO!” Sonic didn’t wait another moment, hands lunging downwards. His fingers began to dance across Shadow’s ribs, almost like he was playing a piano, before starting to scratch between each one. “Let’s see here, one…two…three…”
Shadow bit down on his lower lip, shaking with barely contained snickers. He was a tough hedgehog, and could handle a lot, but his resistance to tickling was…lacking. It was hardly his fault; he hadn’t had the most affectionate upbringing, even with Maria around. Tickles were few and far between.
In other words, he was screwed.
“Aaaw, don’t hold it in, Shadow! Laughter is good for you!” Tails giggled from his perch on Shadow’s legs.
“Four…five…six…Shadow, hold still, man! You’re going to make me lose count, then I’ll have to start all over!” Sonic chided playfully, continuing his slow torment of Shadow’s ribcage.
“W-Wohohould you two just shut up?” Shadow forced out, cursing the small chuckle that managed to slip out.
“Um, RUDE! Knuckles, mind helping me teach this guy some manners?” Sonic shot the red echidna a devious grin, who returned it in kind.
“It would be my pleasure!” Knuckles moved Shadow’s wrists into one hand, leaving his other one free to join in the torment. Without a second of hesitation, it dove for one of Shadow’s armpits, digging into the exposed hollow as Sonic gently scribbled down to Shadow’s sides.
That did it. Shadow felt his torso jerk, a startled gasp tumbling out, followed immediately by a wave of breathy giggles. “N-Nohohohohooo, cut it ohohohohout!” He ordered, though the effect was ruined by the little grin now decorating his features.
“Aaaaw, there’s that cute wittle laugh! I knew you had it in you!” Sonic cheered, fingers scratching and dancing along the other hedgehog’s sides. “Isn’t he adorable, Tails?”
“Yeah, he IS pretty cute!” Tails replied, giving Shadow’s knees a few experimental squeezes, earning a soft snort and a fresh barrage of snickers.
Shadow felt his cheeks flush, his head shaking in denial. “I’m nohohohohohot cuhuhuhute! S-Stahahahahahap!” He snickered. He could feel his tail twitching beneath him, trying to wag while pressed against the floor; thank GOD he was lying on his back. Knuckles switched to his other armpit, making him jump as a startled “EHEHE” ripped out of him.
Knuckles barked out a laugh of his own. "Ha, he sounds like Tom when you get his ears!" The warrior drilled a thumb into Shadow's armpit ruthlessly, delighting in the way the hedgehog jolted as if electrocuted. "Coochie coochie cooooooo!" He sang.
"So Shadow, are you ready to admit I'm the best tickle monster around?" Sonic asked, smirking down at Shadow mischievously. "Or do we need to get a little meaner?"
"I'm nohohohohot admitting shit to yohohohohoooou!" Shadow retorted, trying (and failing) to muster up a half-hearted glare.
Sonic whistled, shaking his head in disapproval. "Such language! Looks like we'd better bring out the big guns, boys. Knuckles, Tails, get a good grip on him. Time to use the old Wachowski Special!" The two nodded in agreement, ceasing their own tickling to get firmer holds on Shadow's arms and legs.
Shadow panted, still squirming as he slowly recovered from the ticklish attacks. "Thehehehe what now?" He questioned, eyebrows raised, heart fluttering in his chest. Whatever the "Wachowski Special" was, he knew it wouldn't be good for him.
"Weeell, whenever someone else joins the family, Tom and Maddie have this little thing they like to do. Since they aren't here right now, I guess that means WE get to be the ones to officially welcome you into the family! Right, Sonic?" Tails explained.
"Right you are, little buddy!"
Shadow felt his stomach do a flip, his head swimming at the implications of the fox's statement. Welcome him to the family? They considered him family, after all that he had done? He didn't deserve-
Sonic cracked his knuckles, posing a clawed hand over Shadow's stomach. "Tickle claw time!" He sang, hand diving down and digging into the other hedgehog's outstretched abdomen. As if that wasn't bad enough, he started to VIBRATE his fingers into the sensitive muscle, cooing playful teases all the while. "Kitchie kitchie kitchie kitchie koooooo, tough guy! Come on, let's see how hard you can laugh, huh? Coooome on, you know you wanna!"
Poor Shadow didn't stand a chance. "S-SOHOHONIC, NEHEHEHEHOHOHOHOHO!" The black hedgehog busted into a fresh wave of laughter, shaking his head feverishly as his ears pressed back with embarrassment. His legs gave a little kick, trying to knock Tails off balance, and he tugged desperately to free his arms from Knuckles' grip. "NOHOHOHOHOT THEHEHEHERE!"
Knuckles snorted with amusement. "His tummy is worse than YOURS!" He smirked, shooting Sonic a look.
The blue hedgehog blushed, glaring at Knuckles as his tickling picked up speed, sending Shadow into another bout of cackles. "We're focused on him right now, not me." He was borderline pouting, though a shy smile tugged at his lips.
The kitchen was filled with the sound of Shadow's frantic laughter, a noise that none of them, especially Sonic, would ever forget. For a moment, Sonic was too caught up in the joy of seeing his rival, his friend, so vulnerable to care about anything else. But then, as Shadow's laughter hit a crescendo, something inside Sonic made him pause. The teasing, the playful banter, it was all just...fun. Shadow, despite his stoic nature, was one of them now. And in that moment, Sonic realized just how much it meant to have him here.
But that didn’t stop him from continuing his ticklish onslaught.
"Not the tummy, huh? Guess we'll just have to see what else is good!" Sonic grinned, clearly enjoying the chaos of the moment, his fingers moving down to scribble just above Shadow's hips.
Shadow let out a breathy squeal (though he would never admit to making such a noise). "OHOHOHOHO, WOHOHOHULD YOU JUHUHUST SHUHUHUHUT UP?" He was beyond embarrassed from the playful teasing, and yet, he couldn't bring himself to mind it all that much. It brought back feelings he never thought he would feel again; feelings of acceptance, comfort, familial bonding. Feelings he hadn't thought about in decades, more or less experienced.
Tails giggled at the sight of the tough hedgehog writhing beneath their tickling. "He really is ticklish everywhere!" He exclaimed, the joy of discovery lighting up his voice.
Shadow's face was bright crimson now, his usual stern demeanor replaced with something almost childlike. His red eyes sparkled with tears of mirth, his grin nearly splitting his face in two. "S-STAHAHAHAP! I-I CAHAHAHAHAN'T...EHEHEHEHEHEHE!" He bucked his hips, trying to break free from the combined grip of Tails and Knuckles, but Sonic’s assault on his stomach and hips kept him pinned down in a state of helpless hilarity.
“You’re giving up already?” Sonic teased, leaning in close. “I thought you were the ultimate lifeform! You can take anything, right?”
But this was something Shadow couldn’t take. This was uncharted territory, more or less. And despite his pride, there was no denying that the combination of Sonic’s fingers and verbal teasing was breaking him down. His breath caught in between chuckles and gasps. “PLEHEHEHEHEHEHEASE!"
Tails gave Sonic a nudge. "Looks like he's getting tired, might want to show some mercy before you break him." He chuckled.
"The fox is correct, his face is redder than my fur." Knuckles added in agreement.
Sonic gave Shadow a look, searching his features for a moment. Finally, as though some sort of unspoken signal had passed through them, Sonic slowed his tickling, his fingers still lingering lightly on Shadow's stomach. He watched as Shadow gasped for air, his body still twitching from the residual sensation. Sonic gave him a sly smirk. “You’re a tough nut to crack! Not everyone can hold out so well against ME!" He HAD to sneak in one more gloat, just for fun.
Shadow blinked up at him, trying to gather himself, his mind still hazy from the laughter. “You’re insufferable.” He managed to mutter, his voice hoarse, though the wobbly grin still plastered to his face ruined any attempts of sounding even vaguely serious.
Knuckles let out a hearty laugh, loosening his grip. "Don't worry, my friend. Sonic does this to everyone. You’re just the latest victim!"
"And definitely not the last!" Sonic snickered.
Tails slid off of Shadow’s legs, but not before giving his friend a quick pat on the knee. "We were just making sure you feel at home, Shadow. I hope you won't hold it against us."
Shadow let out a long breath and finally attempted to sit up, his cheeks still a shade of pink he rarely showed. He gave Sonic one last glare, though it was weaker than it should’ve been. “You’ve had your fun, but don’t think for a second that this changes anything.”
Sonic winked, his grin still wide. “Of course it doesn’t, Shadow! But I gotta say, you do laugh pretty cute.” The black hedgehog's blush deepened, and he looked away, muttering something inaudible under his breath. "I'm sorry, what was that?"
Shadow's gaze narrowed, his grin taking on a more devilish nature. "I said I'll give you three a ten second head start before I start dishing out my revenge." His voice came out in a low, shockingly playful growl. "One..."
Sonic, Knuckles and Tails' eyes all widened in shock, taken aback by Shadow's unexpected declaration. Sonic was the first to react, whizzing past his companions as a nervous laugh erupted from his throat. "Every hedgehog for himself!" His words snapped the other two out of their shock, and moments later, Tails and Knuckles were booking it after him.
"Sonic, wait for us!"
"It is hardly honorable to abandon one's comrades in battle!"
Shadow watched as his prey made their futile attempts at escape; best to give them a small taste of hope. he couldn't help but chuckle, the sound holding a surprising hint of affection as he got to his feet. His lungs still ached, unused to so much exertion, but he couldn't say the feeling was all bad. He was part of a...family. These people, whom he once viewed with such contempt, had accepted him with open arms, even after all that had happened. Something warm welled inside of Shadow as he felt his chaos energy activating, ready to aid in his pursuit.
"Ten; here I come."
i had a great time.
maybe you should go.
Maddy Perez
maybe you should go.
i had a great time.
Pronouns: He/Him/His, M!Reader
Tumblr media
You and Lexi shared many similarities as twins. There was the shared love for literature and theater, the longing for Suze's attention, the bitter resentment toward Gus for leaving and never saying goodbye, the feeling of constantly being in Cassie's shadow, and of course, similar physical features.
But, like other siblings, you and Lexi were also vastly different.
Lexi preferred her solitude. She could spend hours alone in her shared bedroom on her laptop creating screenplay after screenplay in an online document. She was clumsy and awkward and despite her writing skills, she had trouble speaking to others without stammering or tripping over her words. Behind nearly every decision and action Lexi made had been a thought-out plan filled with 'what ifs'. You preferred leaps of faith into the unknown where the end destination wasn't visible until the last second. More often than not, you were left scrambling to ensure your ass wouldn't be toast.
Like the night after a party at a classmate's place when you woke up at home in your cozy bed with the slim body of your sister's closest friend cuddled up at your side and you left to stare at the ceiling debating your choices.
On one hand, Maddy Perez was bitchy and confident enough to pretend nothing ever happened between you and her. On the other hand, Nathaniel Jacobs had enough privilege to get away with murder if she ever let it slip.
So, there you remained, staring up at the ceiling and rethinking the life choices that led up to that moment. If only you hadn't agreed to go to the party with the girls. If only you hadn't agreed to Elliot's stupid challenge of flirting with Maddy to see what the school's queen bee would do. If only you'd encouraged the girls to head to their respective homes instead of crashing at the Howard residence. Then maybe, just maybe, you wouldn't be wondering what the hell Nate Jacobs would do to you if he ever found out you slept with his girlfriend. It wasn't as if you could sneak out and play dumb if she asked. She was in your bed, in your house.
Craning your neck to take a peek at her when she began to stir, you finally noticed her messy appearance. Her maroon lipstick had smudged considerably and from the red markings scattered across your skin, you could only assume how it'd happened. Her glittery, silver makeup appeared in a similar state, and the glitter smudged against your skin, twinkling with the sunlight that poured in from the window. Her hair was in the worst state you'd ever seen it in, and you found your gaze drawn to the light markings on her neck and shoulders. Her dark eyes fluttered open and for the first time since entering high school, you found yourself hoping for some disgust or repulsion in them. But instead, a yawn escaped her lips and she tiredly rubbed at her eyes.
"Morning." You murmured a bit awkwardly and dragged yourself up to rest your back against the headboard. She snorted quietly and brushed her raven hair out of her face, somehow still looking like a model. "About last night-"
"I had a great time. I never thought Cassie's little brother would have it in him. " Maddy began with a coy grin and you waited for a 'but' to follow. "We should do this again sometime." She purred instead and planted a kiss on the corner of your lips. You could practically feel your ego growing, but they weren't the words you wanted to hear from someone whose boyfriend had no problem with destroying the lives of those who even looked at her twice.
"Right." You forced a chuckle. Fuck. "I had a good time too, Mads, but I-I think maybe you should go or at least sneak into the girls' room before they wake up. I just... I think Cassie might get upset if she finds out and I, uh, I don't want to get you in trouble with Nate either."
She blinked at you and then blinked again. Her perfectly plucked brows slowly furrowed and the tips of her lips dragged downward. You couldn't quite tell what the look on her face meant. Was she disappointed? Hurt? Sad?
"You're kicking me out?" Ah. Of course, she was offended. Maddy getting turned down was an occurrence that only happened on blue moons and even then, whoever rejected her would only end up taking it back moments later.
"Maddy, I really think it's for the best. This will only end up hurting us both in the end." You tried again, speaking softly as if it'd do anything to convince her.
"And what if I don't care? What if I want to continue this?"
Summaries, some containing spoilers for the new Sonic movie:
Rewrite an old fic from early 2023 back to when I first started.
After his fall to Earth, Shadow stumbles across Sonic in the woods.
When he thought about meeting the blue hedgehog again after the events of Gerald's attempt at revenge, Shadow did not plan for it to involve Rouge and Omega kidnapping him.
Tang Sanzang failed a test of compassion placed on him during the journey and thus will continue to reincarnate. Wukong decides this is stupid and, to pressure Heaven, lies to the historians. Subodhi is just watching on the sidelines.
For some reason, Demon Bull King and Princess Iron Fan have tapestries of baby Wukong.
A/B/O AU: Qi Xiaotian introduces himself to his new hot next door neighbor by going into heat and triggering his neighbor's rut. Yes, he probably shouldn't have been working on moving into his new apartment when he felt himself start to slick, but he figured that he had time. Except he didn't. At least the neighbor he banged was nice and asked consent and even finished moving his boxes in, but hopefully Xiaotian will never talk to him again to bury this awkward memory... Except Red keeps popping up. (Smut.)
When the washing machine breaks in the middle of a huge load of Qi Xiaotian's clothing, he is forced to wear his boyfriend's stuff. Red is dying of lust. (Smut.)
Qi Xiaotian figures out that his boyfriend loves it when he wears his things. Red is dying of lust. (Smut.)
TMNT, my incarnation: In the wake of learning about Splinter's real identity, Leo and Raph struggle with deciding on how to handle it. (Or, according to @stylishbutdefinitelyillegal, Hamato Saki earns the Worst Uncle award.)
TMNT, my incarnation: After learning that Hamato Yoshi is their human DNA, Mikey sneaks to an art auction of Yoshi's work and ends up learning a bit more about Baron Draxum.
Scooby Doo, my incarnation: The first part of Episode 1, when trying to leave their hometown of Crystal Cove to start their second year of college, the Mystery Gang finds themselves trapped in Crystal Cove.
After weeks of new nightmares and guilt, Tom and Maddie put Sonic on a mental health week- meaning that Knuckles and Tails are the first to find Shadow.
OCTOBER SUN pt.11
Simon crept to his car, a tactical advance, hunched low to the ground and clinging to the shadows as far as they would take him. He was afraid, adrenaline pumping, heart pounding in his ears; he didn't want Mr. Anderson to find him sneaking around the school a second time. Not after what he and Maddie had uncovered in the supply closet.
Mr. Anderson had propelled up Simon's short list of suspects to the top spot, the cache of money a sure sign the man was up to no good. Simon didn't have a lot of experience with society's seedy underbelly, but if movies had taught him anything, it's that normal people didn't hide stacks of cash outside of their homes unless they expected a police raid.
Was Mr. Anderson a drug dealer? Some kind of kingpin moonlighting as a high school English teacher? It was the perfect disguise. Cops would never think of a man who works with teenagers capable of that level of corruption. At least, not in Split River. No matter how many problems the town had, it wasn't that degree of shitty.
Only, Mr. Anderson had seemed nervous; a man forced onto a ledge at gunpoint. Threatened. Scared.
Okay, Simon reasoned, so Mr. Anderson wasn't a high-ranking drug lord. But he was definitely on the wrong side of the law and was obviously desperate. And desperate people were unpredictable when they felt backed into a corner.
He'd claimed he'd given Maddie what sounded like had been a large sum of money. A bribe, maybe. One that, in the end, hadn't been enough to convince Mr. Anderson she wouldn't rat on him. The thought made Simon's stomach churn, bile burning the back of his throat.
Maddie had been wrecked by the discovery, hands shaking from a surge of emotion too enormous to contain. She'd held it together long enough to caution Simon not to contaminate the evidence by touching it, assuring him she'd count it after he was safely off campus.
She'd shooed him from the classroom, "You have to leave, now," eyes watery as Mr. Anderson's betrayal had finally seemed to register. "I've got this, okay? Just go."
Simon had done as ordered. What good would he be if Mr. Anderson took him out next?
He peeled out of the parking lot and into the road, lightheaded as a thousand and one questions flooded his brain. His chest tightened, breathing labored, and—God, shit, he hadn't had a panic attack since middle school but, since Maddie's disappearance last Friday, they'd made a grand comeback. Kept him awake at night when there was nothing left to distract him from what could've happened to his best friend.
"Fuck." Simon rasped, smacking the steering wheel with his palm. And then, increasing in volume and intensity, "Fuck. Fuck. FUCK!" He beat the steering wheel, accidentally hitting the horn once and startling a woman walking her dog.
"Sorry!" He called, sheepish, through the open driver's side window, flashing a hand in apology. He didn't wait for a reaction, simply continued to drive home.
The thought of interacting with his parents put him on edge. He didn't know how he was supposed to stay quiet about Mr. Anderson. Noticeably off the last few days, Simon had already endured three separate lectures about drug use, depression, and sexuality respectively.
His parents' unconditional support, though amazing, made him feel like garbage—or, more accurately, a landfill—for causing them to worry to the point of draping a rainbow flag over the back of the couch and reassuring him that, "Love is love, mijo. We just want you to be happy."
Even if he could slip past his dad, his mother would undoubtedly pick up that whatever plot she suspected Simon of hiding had thickened. And, frankly, if she asked just right, Simon knew he'd crack and tell her everything. About Xavier, about Mr. Anderson...about developing The fucking Shining and assuming the role of Watson to his best friend's ghost.
Buying himself some time, Simon took turns he didn't have to; drove through random neighborhoods as he tried to think up a plausible excuse for his behavior that wouldn't result in another intervention. He didn't have it in him to watch his mother's face crumple as he lied to her again. The umpteenth time that week.
He needed to talk to someone. To get it out of himself and share the burden. His skin felt too tight and his bones too heavy and he couldn't carry the weight of Maddie's murder mystery alone.
And then, as if God had heard him, Simon's prayers were answered.
Without thinking it through, he pulled over and beeped his horn to get your attention before you turned onto the path that margined the small, neighborhood greenspace.
Clambering sideways to get out of his car, his foot caught on a pedal, seatbelt still hooked, Simon called out, "Hey!" grunting when he was knocked back into his seat by the strap. He took a second to collect himself, unbuckled his seatbelt, and climbed out in a less frenzied manner.
"Uhhhmm, are you okay?" You asked, your face displaying how not okay you thought Simon was. You glanced up and down the street, puzzled, "What are you doing here? Don't you live in Cedar Bank?" A suburb on the other side of the river that bisected the town.
Simon debated whether or not it had been a good idea to stop, but he didn't think he could give you an excuse and drive away, either. He dimly sympathized with how Mr. Anderson had felt back in that classroom; splitting threads pulled through the eye of a needle.
He summoned his resolve and turned to face you, "I need to tell you something."
You cocked your head, looked Simon over, and nodded slowly. Simon could tell you were trying to determine what this was about. Realized as you walked him into the little playpark and took a seat on one of the two swings, that he'd come out of nowhere in a move that could easily be interpreted as stalkerish.
"I could give you a lift home if you wanna talk in the car?" He offered, settling into the second swing all the same. The park was deserted, dark, the glow of the streetlights falling short by a few meters.
You shook your head and hooked your thumb over your shoulder, "That's literally my backyard."
Simon followed your indication and saw the top half of an antique build, painted a deep royal purple and trimmed in evergreen, that peaked over a tall, bushy hedgerow. A wooden fence several inches shorter than your family's hedges divided the public space from private property, running the length of the park behind your house and a few others.
"Huh." Simon returned his gaze to yours, "Never mind."
"Did you talk to Nicole?" You asked, possibly thinking that that was what Simon wanted to discuss.
He fiddled with his hands, closed his eyes, and supported his head on the metal chain that held the swing up. "No." He stated honestly. He needed to tell you about Mr. Anderson. Just. Start talking. But the words kept sticking in this throat.
"Simon? You're starting to scare me, is everything okay? Is this..." You trailed off and when you spoke again, you sounded worried, "Is this about Maddie?"
"Kind of," Simon admitted, pressing the meat of his palms into his eyes. "Screw it," He spun the swing so he faced you completely and then uncorked the bottle, "I found a shit ton of money in Mr. Anderson's classroom. Like, wads of it. Probably thousands of dollars hidden in the wall in the closet."
‗‗‗‗•‗‗‗‗
What the f u u u u u u ck.
One minute you'd been on your way home, trying to parse out why the connection between you and Wally had gone dormant as soon as you'd left him, and now, there you were, listening to Simon basically tell you that he'd unmasked Mr. Anderson like a Scooby-Doo villain.
You didn't have that on your Everything is FUBAR bingo card, that's for sure.
Okay. Okay. This was...big. Huge. And, "Holy shit, maybe it has to do with why he freaked on me in the theater," you said, mostly to yourself though you knew Simon would hear it.
"He what?"
You looked at Simon, "Earlier, I was—" Lie like a smart girl, "—looking for something Tilly forgot in the theater and he found me. But, Simon," You stood, started to pace, "He was acting paranoid like I found his dead mom à la Norman Bates. He practically threw me out of there." Which was, fine, a mild exaggeration, but Mr. Anderson's paranoia hadn't been. "I've never seen him like that. And he kept getting these phone calls that made him even more angry."
"Wait, what do you mean 'phone calls'? Did you hear anything?"
"No, just that he needed a minute. I guess to go find somewhere I wouldn't hear him."
Simon was standing now, pacing in a pattern the opposite of yours.
"He was on the phone when I saw him. Talking to someone about how he shouldn't have given Maddie money."
You felt like the sky had fallen on your head, "He gave Maddie money? Is that why she..." You'd wanted to say ran away, a kneejerk reaction borne from days of convincing yourself she'd just put Split River in the rearview. With what you knew now, you settled for, "Disappeared?"
Simon appeared to notice your choice of wording, peered at you like a math problem, but didn't mention it, instead revealing, "It's a line of inquiry."
You rubbed your temples to ease away the migraine that was building. Today had been too much; too many things unfolding one after the other: First hearing from Wally that Maddie was a ghost, and then just Wally and everything you had to unpack with that, and now Mr. Anderson's apparent criminal activity that may or may not have had a direct impact on Maddie's being a ghost in the first place.
Of course, you reminded yourself, she wasn't a ghost because you couldn't see. her. Which meant that, if he was involved, Mr. Anderson had drugged her to the point of a coma and had hidden her body somewhere.
"Oh my God," You moaned dismally, "This is so f u c k e d." As the gears turned, a thought clawed for your attention. "Simon," you ceased pacing to lift your gaze and regard Simon closely, "Why were you there?"
‗‗‗‗•‗‗‗‗
Simon knew he had to give you something, but, Jesus Christ, he was nervous. He'd already decided not to admit he could see Maddie, unable to believe that you wouldn't tell a trusted adult. And he wasn't keen on getting pumped full of antipsychotics and locked in a padded room, thanks.
You watched him, eyes hard, jaw set, more serious than he'd ever seen you, "Simon, what the hell?"
He swallowed, opting for half-truths, because he'd come this far. He needed help. A confidante. Would've preferred Nicole but she'd galivanted off with Xavier, apparently, and took the choice out of Simon's hands.
"I've been looking for clues about what happened to Maddie," Simon confessed, a weight lifting from his shoulders. "Since the search on Monday, when Xavier got arrested—"
You interrupted, fierce, loyal, "He wasn't arrested, Si. His dad was just taking him to the station to give an official statement."
"In the back seat?" Simon deadpanned.
"There's no room in the front of the cruiser!" You threw your hands up as if dealing with the situation would drive you to drink.
"With the lights on?"
"Because there was a crowd of people practically throwing themselves at the car to get Xavier's face on video."
Simon conceded and resituated himself on one of the swings. You followed his example, though, this time, you shrugged off your backpack and dropped it in the sand beside you.
"So, what do we do?" Simon wanted to know, close to getting on his knees and begging you to take the reigns on this because he was exhausted.
"Alright." You shifted to straddle your swing, hands in front of you as you counted details on your fingers. "We know that Maddie went missing on Friday. We know Xavier had nothing to do with it." Your eyes narrowed, daring Simon to comment. He didn't. "We know that Mr. Anderson is hiding money and that he gave some to Maddie. To keep her quiet?"
"That's what we-" Simon tensed, quickly undoing his mistake, "I'm thinking."
That intense look of scrutiny was back on your face and Simon resisted the urge to gulp. Three days ago Simon had figured you for the only person who'd believe him about Maddie's ghost. My how times have changed.
"If he was hiding money in his classroom, he could be hiding other things around the school, too." You rationalized. "Like the theater. I bet you anything that there's something in there he doesn't want us to find."
True. In fact, "Do you think he's hiding Maddie in there?"
"What, like, under the stage? That'd be pretty risky. And the cops went through every room in the school with search and rescue dogs and everything. Wouldn't they have found her if she was down there?"
Simon deflated, "Good point," reluctant to add that those dogs probably weren't the type trained to find cadavers.
"Right." You paused, either to organize your thoughts or analyze Simon further, he wasn't sure, but you soon continued, tone weak, "Simon, if he did have something to do with Maddie...I take back what I said before."
"About?"
You shrunk into yourself, forcing, "Maddie being okay," as if the words had to be wrenched out of you. "I don't want to believe Mr. Anderson could've hurt her but..." You blinked a rapid dozen times up at the sky, visibly shaken as you considered the worst, "I don't think she's okay."
A lump formed in Simon's throat. He was all too aware of the painful truth. His vision blurred, nostrils prickled, the enormity of the situation closing in on him.
"Yeah," He sniffed, "Me neither."
‗‗‗‗•‗‗‗‗
Neither you nor Simon were aware that, only ten feet away, crouched in the bushes, a figure wearing Simon's best friend's face had heard everything.
Cold.
Hungry.
And without an iota of guilt.
There's something so fun and deceptive about the later trailers for Sonic 3 after you have the fuller context of the movie. Sure, trailers are supposed to leave you wanting more, that's the entire point, but there's something a little extra fun about the way the genuises behind the Sonic 3 trailers gave and hid little details from the movie.
A lot of the later trailers really wanted us to think that Sonic & co. were gonna be working with G.U.N the entire movie to take Shadow down, and I remember there being speculation that there wasn't gonna be any dramatic betrayals until the third act of the movie. I remember a detail a lot of people were focusing specifically on were Tom and Maddie wearing G.U.N. uniforms, because "how could they agree to team up with someone who wanted to hurt their kids?"
But here's why it's so fun! Here's why it's so tasty!
Because it put all of us in Shadow's perspective. Shadow refuses to talk to Sonic even though he genuinely means well and genuinely doesn't want to fight because he came out of a G.U.N. helicopter. Shadow doesn't question for one minute why this other hedgehog that looks like him is working with the enemy. Over and over it's because he assumes that Sonic is siding with them that he attacks first and asks questions later, and I remeber there being some worried reactions from fans about Sonic going along with whatever they wanted without questioning it.
But that's not what Sonic does! The second he realizes the Big Evil Danger that G.U.N. wants to defeat is someone who looks like him, he stops because he wants to evaluate the situation himself. It's not time to be the hero and stop this big evil bad, it's wait, something isn't adding up, I'm not trusting anything anyone tells me until I check things out for myself. It's the way he still tries just talking to Shadow even after Commander Walters tells him the bullshit version of the reason the lab blew up (the version being that Shadow went on a rampage and killed everyone for No Reason™)
Hell, the reason Tom and Maddie were even in G.U.N. uniforms at all was to decieve. They weren't given special honorary uniforms when they decided to help them, they're stolen uniforms they wore to help sneak into headquarters.
It's all about deception and a trick of the eyes. It's about how there were countless theories that Shadow was gonna go after Tom on purpose, because he wanted Sonic to feel the same hurt as him, but then in the movie the only reason Shadow hurt Tom was by mistake, because he was disguised as someone else. He didn't even know what Tom meant to Sonic until Sonic came speeding into the room and kneeling at his side. But he still hated Sonic at that point in time, so of course he was going to brush it off and act like he did it on purpose!!
The whole thing is about deception and some things having more value under the surface. The whole thing is about not letting your surface level observations be the sole factor in how you judge something. It's so good! it's so tasty!
You don't like the idea of Sonic teaming up with this awful group that only wants to hurt others, audience? You don't understand why he'd agree to help someone who tried to hurt him? Well how do you think Shadow feels?
Some Undertale gamer headcanons:
Someone said that Toriel would be the world Tetris champion, and I'm not sure why, but I agree with that. And not just Tetris, but bubble-poppers, match 3, marble-shooters, all of those kinds of games. She's the new Candy Crush mascot.
I've also seen people say sans would be into rhythm games, and... no. Why would you think he would be into something that takes that much effort? Seriously, come on. What sans is into is farming sim games. He's written dozens of online strategy guides for Stardew Valley, all of them under different pseudonyms.
Papyrus is into online multiplayers. All of them, any genre- Fortnite, Apex Legends, Fall Guys, Elder Scrolls Online, Runescape, you name it. He sucks at all of them, but none of his online friends is willing to tell him how bad he is because he's so darned innocent and nice. Nobody really wants him on their team because he'll always make them fail the mission, but he's so upbeat and uplifting that no one has the heart to tell him they don't want him.
Undyne loves Souls-like and dungeon crawlers, but she struggles with anything that requires stealth, she just doesn't. do. stealth. She says it's stupid to have to sneak up on enemies, she should just be able to barge in with guns or swords or spears blazing in any and all circumstances. Don't ever even suggest Metal Gear to her. Or Breath of the Wild- she rage-quit after the Yiga Clan Hideout quest (although it did leave her with the impression that bananas give you strength in battle, so she now always keeps a bunch of bananas on hand).
Blooky plays solitaire and Mah Jongg, and even those stress them out.
Maddie plays casino and slots games. On an unrelated note, she's always broke.
Mettaton is the rhythm games master. You will not change my mind on this.
Alphys is HEAVY into JRPG's. The more anime it looks, the more she loves it.
Asgore has no idea what a video game is. Well, ok, he has some idea, his kids both played games, but he never could figure them out. He thinks Sonic and Crash are both Mario characters and that Link is a girl- you get the idea. But he did used to play card and board games with Toriel. Especially chess (she totally owned his ass in every match). Ever since Toriel left, he can't bring himself to play chess. He plays checkers a lot, tho. He usually loses (he plays against himself).
Asriel and Chara were into action/adventure games. Asriel's favorite characters were Yoshi and Link, while Chara's favorites were Samus and Shadow the Hedgehog. What? No, I'm not projecting my favorite games onto the Dreemurr kids. What are you talking about?
Frisk has only ever played the hit indie game Undertale. About 500 times. Always Pacifist, they've never even tried a Geno run. They've been thinking about playing that Deltarune game, too, but they kinda wanna wait until the whole thing is released.
A sneak peek of the next chapter of Come Away, O Human Child
The sun hangs low over the horizon, the red and orange light turning the ocean waves a shimmering golden hue that he can’t stop staring at.
The air is hot and humid, even with the salt-spray breeze rolling in off the water, but he just leans back on the beach, digging his toes into the sand and soaking up the heat with a grateful sigh. He was so cold earlier. The beach is strangely quiet, the crash of the waves and the cry of seabirds overhead the only sounds. Strange…even on the slow days, the beach is always crowded. It’s the height of tourist season—there should be music, laughter, voices. Sara and her siblings should be out splashing in the shallows, advertising the guided reef tours their pod gave during tourist season. Yet, when he turns to look up the beach, he can’t even see the bar. He’s…alone?
God, he’s so tired. He flops back in the soft sand, throwing his arm over his eyes to block out the gleaming Peruvian sunset, letting the residual heat from the day leech the last of the chill from his bones.
“Beautiful place. I see why you loved it so much,” a voice says beside him. The sudden intrusion should startle him, should have him jack-knifing into a sitting position, but he just hums softly and listens to the waves tumble onto the shore again and again. The voice is…not familiar, exactly. But known. He’s safe.
Safe…why wouldn’t he be safe?
There’s a grumbling groan, the barely-there whisper of sand shifting in between the crash of the waves, and a shadow falls over him as the stranger—no, not a stranger, is it?—sits down beside him. “Hell of a thing you did. I knew you’d be strong enough to wield it. But still a hell of a risk—not many would take it.”
Images flash through his mind at that…blue-green flames leaping up towards the sky, a surging swirl of violet and gold light surrounding him, the strange certainty that he was being granted a chance to stop something horrible from happening. Given a chance to try, though it was incredibly dangerous.
Given a chance to try, even though it would hurt him.
“Had to,” he mumbles, finally moving his arm and blinking up at the stranger.
The gleaming sunset light bouncing off the waves casts the man in deep shadow. He catches only a glimpse of salt-and-pepper hair under an old cowboy hat, a shine of familiar violet in the stranger’s eyes. He squints, trying to remember where he’s seen the man before. They have met, he knows that. They know each other quite well, don’t they? Or…or maybe the stranger just knows him?
Buck closes his eyes again, too tired to worry about it. He’s safe. He knows he’s safe.
“Of course you did,” the man chuckles. He sounds almost…proud. “That never changes, not in any possibility. You both have such big hearts, and they’re never treated gently—she always guards yours as best she can, but you give so much of yourself.”
He frowns as the breeze off the ocean turns a little cooler, burrows his bare feet deeper into the hot sand. Over the crashing waves he hears a new sound, a steady beeping. “I have to go back,” he mutters, his nose wrinkling in distaste at the thought. Even with the wind, it’s still so warm on the beach. It’s so cold back…back somewhere else. So cold, and there’s something missing—something’s missing, and he doesn’t want to face it. But… “Mads n’ Eddie’ll be worried.”
His sister and Eddie are close; he knows they are. More hazy, half-formed images flash through his mind: Maddie holding his hand and staring down at him with teary eyes; Eddie telling him they were there, they had him, and he was going to be okay. Of course he was. As long as he had Eddie and his sister, everything would be fine. But he needs to go back. He needs to…wake up?
He hears the man get to his feet and opens his eyes again, watching quietly as the stranger tucks his hands into his pockets and stares out over the water. The beach has grown darker, colder, the weird beeping sound growing louder by the second.
“We’ve…met before,” he says, slow and soft. He frowns again, shivering in the growing darkness. “Haven’t we?”
The man lets out a rueful chuckle. “Of course. I knew you the moment you existed.” He turns and squats down beside Buck, tilting his head. “I’ve done what I can for you, kid…it’s up to you now.”
Buck’s frown deepens. “What’s up to me?”
The stranger who is not a stranger smiles and stands, holding out a hand to help Buck up. Hesitantly, Buck takes it, finds himself pulled to his feet with surprising strength. “The possibilities.”
*
Hollow.
He wakes up in a hospital bed, IV lines and monitors hooked up to him in what seems like a dozen different places, and all he feels is hollow. He wakes up alone, blinking slowly as he looks around, taking in his surroundings, but all that registers in the gaping, shivering emptiness that sits in his chest where his magic should be. He thought he’d dreamed it, dreamed that when he reached for his power, nothing responded. He thought it couldn’t be real, that he was imagining the icy darkness where warm, golden light had always been.
Hollow.
There are healing runes sketched on his arms and legs, peek over the edge of his hospital gown when he peers down at his chest. He recognizes each one, can see the glow of their power in the dimly lit room…but it doesn’t feel the same. The magic is dim, distant—as though there’s a thick, glass wall between him and the power that has been a part of him for as long as he can remember. He reaches for it, tries to touch his magic, to push it out into the runes that look like they are almost at the end of their charge. Nothing happens. He reaches, and there is nothing to reach for. He takes a deep, shaky breath, his heart stuttering in his chest. The blankets are warm, threads of familiar, silver magic sparkling in the scratchy fabric. He would know his sister’s magic anywhere, but he can’t feel it. Trembling, he places his hand on the blanket over his stomach, feels the warmth of the fabric, but not Maddie’s power—not the silver glow that has always, always meant safety and warmth and love.
Hollow.
He can’t feel her. Their magic has always sparked off each other whenever they’re in proximity. Silver and gold, warm sunshine and cool moonlight, two parts of the same whole. He runs his fingers over the blanket, catches the soft glimmers of Maddie’s magic on his fingertips and cannot feel her power. Another trembling gasp and he squeezes his eyes shut, reaches again for his magic. There’s nothing there. Nothing. It doesn’t feel like it has the few times in his life he’s drained his magic enough to even notice, doesn’t even feel like the horrifying way his magic refused to obey him in his encounters with the Fae who holds his deal. There is an aching, cavernous emptiness inside of him—cold and hungry and…
Hollow.
Even if Shadow doesn't become a Wachowski, do you have any headcanons for whenever he gets together with the family?
Hi Honey!❤️✨
Of course! I’m more than happy to come up with some fluff for you!
Shadow makes it a point to visit the Wachowski family whenever he feels a bit lost. Which is often for the nomad. He stands at the driveway and watches them through the window and quietly hum a song under his breath. It wasn’t until Sonic noticed that Shadow was standing from afar and watching them for three weeks. Sonic was quick to welcome him into the home and let him know that he’s cared for.
The only time that Shadow ever sleeps is if he’s at the Wachowski house. He sleeps for twenty to thirty hours at a time before he’s well rested and ready to go on his next adventure.
At most, Shadow spends two or three days at a time with the Wachowski before he goes off on his own. No one knows where he goes, but he sends a post card whenever he gets to his next destination. Sonic knows in his heart that it’s him fulfilling a bucket list of sorts.
And speaking of bucket lists: if the adventure feels like it needs a companion, Shadow turns to Sonic. He doesn’t verbally invite him, it’s more of a smirk. Sonic knows that look all too well and quickly accompanies him on the adventure. Tails and Knuckles come if they are up for the adventure as well.
Tom and Maddie are well accustomed with how to approach each of the kids with tender love and care. Any time Shadow is around, Maddie does her best to make the house cozy and lower lights. She makes him comfort dinner while providing him a space to unwind when needed. She also makes it a point to offer him gentle choices when needed. For Tom, he lets Shadow know that he’s not upset with him (anymore) and encourages him to follow his heart. At first it took Shadow by surprise that Tom and Maddie welcome him—he feels that he doesn’t deserve it—but he grew to enjoy their company and kindness after they’ve continually welcomed him in.
Tails and Knuckles were very cautious around Shadow at first, even to the point of questioning if having him at home was a good idea, but Sonic was quick to advocate to them that Shadow was redeemed. They’re still weary of him, but slowly open up to him.
Tom and Maddie troll G.U.N. any time they question if the Wachowski family has knowledge of Shadow’s existence. There is never a direct answer, as well as plenty of jokes. Shadow thanks them for keeping him safe.
Shadow is known to sneak in through the window or teleport inside the Wachowski home late at night. The first two that are always aware of his existence is Sonic (he eagerly hugs him) and Maddie, who makes him a hot chocolate to welcome him.
Tom definitely took Shadow out onto the lake and had a long talk with him. Shadow doesn’t disclose the conversation that he and Tom had on the boat. All that he said was “coming to Jesus” moment and quickly shuffled away from everyone, implying that he received some sort of fatherly advice like Sonic does. (Think of it like this, “mess with my family and I kick your butt.”)
Much like what she does for her kids, Maddie made Shadow a crochet blanket to wrap up in for when he visits the house. His blanket has very stylized flower patterns on it with earthy colors. Shadow likes to bundle in it like a burrito when he’s by himself.
Tails and Knuckles are still weary of Shadow dropping in on occasion, but have grown to trust him in the end. That makes Sonic incredibly happy.
Tails has offered several times to clean and maintain Shadow’s air shoes for him when they’ve looked worn down. He allows Tails to tweak them with his mild supervision.
Knuckles almost always challenges Shadow to a rematch whenever they meet up. It’s usually in the backyard where the rest of the family (and Wade when he’s bored) can watch. The fights are usually called off when the boys start using pine trees as baseball bats to swing at one another.
Sonic and Shadow like to spend every night together on the roof looking at stars when he visits. They don’t say anything, they watch. Although the silence is usually broken whenever they see the broken moon and cackle.
And finally, Shadow is greatly appreciative of the kindness that the Wachowski family has shown him. He’s grateful for them and wishes nothing but happiness and love for the family to experience for years.
Kiss Me Once Cause You Know I Had A Long Night 28/?
17. Sliding your hands down your lover's chest
Summary:
The minute the reception gets underway, Buck searches the venue frantically for the pastel pink of Eddie's suit. (Seriously, he's going to have to send Karen a gift basket or something for talking Eddie into getting it.)
(read below!)
"Are you sure you don't want to go to the hospital?" Maddie asks, her brows scrunched together. The hem of her dress is covered in grass stains and dirt, the lace on her veil is ripped, but she doesn't seem to notice at all. All her focus is on Chim and his forearm, which is wrapped in Eddie's shirt to stop the blood.
"Eddie patched me up," Chim shrugs. "I'm okay. Let's get married!"
Maddie smiles. "Yeah?"
"Yeah, let's do this," Chim grins. He takes Maddie's hand and tugs her towards the aisle.
Buck squeezes Eddie's shoulder and jogs to catch up with them. Man of honor can't exactly be late, no matter how much he wants to stay in the shadow of the building with his unfairly hot, shirtless best friend.
Eddie takes his place behind Hen in the line of groomsmen, putting him in Buck's direct eyeline the entire ceremony. The breeze ruffles his already mussed hair and Buck's fingers itch to comb through the strands.
He manages to focus on the ceremony for the most part, tearing up as Jee scatters flowers down the aisle and bawling during the vows.
But the minute the reception gets underway, Buck searches the venue frantically for the pastel pink of Eddie's suit. (Seriously, he's going to have to send Karen a gift basket or something for talking Eddie into getting it.)
He spots Eddie talking to the very woman while Chris and Denny raid the buffet.
Buck takes a steadying breath and weaves through the crowd to stand beside Eddie.
"Oh, hey, Buck," Karen smiles, her gaze flicking between the pair.
"Hi, Karen. Mind if I steal Eddie from you?"
Eddie raises an eyebrow at him, but he has that fond, amused smile on his face.
"Be my guest," Karen says with a knowing smirk.
Buck takes Eddie's hand and drags him away, leading him out of the courtyard.
"Where are we going, bud?" Eddie asks, half amused, half baffled.
Buck pushes Eddie against the wall with a hand on his still bare chest. He barely has a chance to see the grin on Eddie's face before he kisses it right off his lips.
Eddie hooks his fingers in Buck's belt loops and pulls him into the space between his legs. Buck teases his lips open and licks into his mouth, tasting the champagne on his tongue and the sweetness of the wedding cake. He reaches up and does what he's been longing to all day, tangling his fingers in Eddie's hair.
They only separate when the need for oxygen demands it. Eddie looks up at him, his pupils blown wide and shining in the fairy lights. His hair is even more of a wreck than before, his lips swollen and spit-slick. Sinful.
"Guess using my shirt as a bandage was a good idea after all," he says in a husky whisper that makes Buck wish they could sneak out early.
Buck doesn't have the brain power to come up with a reply. Instead, he trails his fingertips down Eddie's chest to splay his palms on his ribs beneath the suit. He trails kisses from behind Eddie's ear to his thundering pulse point.
Eddie gasps and twines his fingers in Buck's curls. "Buck, we have at least three more hours before we can get out of here."
"And twenty minutes before the speeches start," Buck says against his Adam's apple.
"Guess we better make the most of it," Eddie says with an audible smirk before using his grip on Buck's hair to pull him into a bruising kiss.
They were only five minutes late for the speeches. And Karen, sweet beautiful Karen, offered to have Chris for a sleepover when the reception was through.
Team Sonic || 'Sonic The Hedgehog 3' Tickle Headcanons
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sonic
Growing up, Sonic was tickled by Longclaw ALL THE TIME! The little guy just had so much energy he needed to burn, and tickling was the perfect way to tucker him out.
Went without tickles for several years after arriving on Earth, leading to some major touch starvation, a problem Tom and Maddie were happy to help him with after he joined their little family.
He LIVES for playfully bullying Tails, pulling the smaller mammal close and cooing little teases into his ear as he tickles him to pieces (don't worry, the kid loves it). However, if he's looking for more of a challenge, Sonic sets his sights on Knuckles, wrestling the other to the ground and going straight for his sweet spots.
After making amends with Shadow, Sonic tries to rope him into their family tickle fights. It rarely ends well for him (Shadow is a RUTHLESS ler), but he tries anyways, knowing that the other secretly appreciates being included in the fun.
"Aaaw, did I find a giggle spot? I think I did! Come on, lemme hear some more, it's so CUTE!"
When Sonic gets into a lee mood, he makes it EVERYONE'S problem! He will become the most annoying thing on the planet, constantly poking at you and pestering you until you have no choice but to knock him down a few pegs. He is INCREDIBLY obvious, and only Knuckles is oblivious to his motives.
Cannot hold still while being tickled, squirming and kicking like his life depends on it, resulting in a few accidental injuries in the past (poor Tom had a busted nose after receiving a kick to the face; Sonic wouldn't stop apologizing for WEEKS).
His laughter is super giggly and high-pitched, and if you find a REALLY good spot, expect to hear a few snorts as well!
Tom and Knuckles are his favorite lers, though that isn't saying much, as he loves pretty much ANY tickling he can get, regardless of who it comes from.
His worst spots are his ears, stomach and knees. If you manage to get ahold of multiple spots at once, or use a technique he especially can't stand (cough, raspberries, cough), the poor guy's laughter will go from loud cackling to near silent squealing.
Tails
The baby of the group and the one who gets tickled the most, though he can be an evil tickle monster in his own right.
Rarely goes after a lee alone, instead preferring to tag team. Due to his size, he knows it would be hard for him to tickle someone without risk of retaliation, so he works smarter, not harder and enlists the help of those around him.
Super sweet even when teasing someone, preferring to make comments about how cute their reactions are or observations about how much fun they seem to be having rather than mocking them.
"Did you just SNORT? That's so cute, do it again! Knuckles, did you hear that? Sonic SNORTED!"
You know this boy would come up with a tickling machine (think the tickle belt from Spongebob) as an alternative way to take down bad guys (as a side note, if he ever got one of those on Robotnik, the poor man would DIE).
Sonic and Knuckles love ganging up on him, cooing over how adorable their ticklish baby brother is until Maddie inevitably has to come to the recue.
Tails has this super bouncy little giggle and squeaks every couple seconds, almost making him resemble a mouse more than a fox.
He absolutely ADORES being tickled and will openly admit to it, viewing it as a fun way to bond with his new family.
Even Shadow can't resist sneaking in a couple of quick pokes to the fox's sides in passing, though he never owns up to his playful actions, instead trying to pin the blame on someone else or Tails' imagination.
His worst spots are his ears, stomach and sides, though pretty much everywhere is bound to get some reaction out of him. He's basically a walking tickle spot, which proves to be both a blessing and a curse.
Knuckles
The primary tickle monster of the trio, Knuckles exudes some massive big brother energy. If Sonic is getting on his nerves or Tails is feeling a little down, you can bet the echidna will be there to tickle them to pieces, laughing along with them all the while.
Doesn't intentionally tease his lees ninety percent of the time, his bluntness and tendency to state embarrassing observations as if they're nothing do most of the work for him.
"This is a VERY good spot! You sound like one of those dog things (hyenas) on the television!" Cue indignant screeching from Sonic.
After Shadow is welcomed into the family, Knuckles makes it his mission to beat the hedgehog in a fight. When regular sparring doesn't work out, he decides that beating him in a tickle fight would be just as gratifying, and by the end of the day Tom and Maddie come home to a trashed house and a wheezing Shadow on the living room floor.
His tickles tend to be rough and brutal. Knuckles doesn't start soft, he goes right for the kill, pinpointing his lee's weak spots quickly before capitalizing on them.
When Knuckles is in a lee mood, he gets more jumpy than usual, flinching at the slightest touches and trying to brush off his reactions as mere surprise. He isn't fooling anyone, and Sonic loves calling him out on his obvious moods, much to the other's embarrassment.
His laughter is deep and rumbling, tending to sit in the belly laugh range with only the occasional giggle or squeal mixed in.
Especially sensitive to lighter touches, like gentle scribbling or Tails' tails. Sure, rough tickles work too, but he has a higher tolerance for them.
Maddie is definitely his favorite ler; he just finds something so comforting about her playful, motherly cooing and light, quick tickling.
His worst spots are his quills, armpits and ribs, though his stomach has proven to be a good giggle spot.
watched the third sonic movie today! and please, tell me...
Tumblr media
WHY IS SHE SO GORGEOUS IN THIS STYLE??? OH MY GOD
anyways i watched the movie and the beginning felt a bit rushed...like, just jumping right into it from the get-go, which made it almost feel like a fever dream. but it was soo good dude i loved how shadow was done, especially in his super form. and ngl i was getting a bit tired of eggman so im glad that we'll be getting some new enemies! i hope cream is in the next movie
also i dont like how unimportant maddie and tom felt compared to the other two movies, they were important for sneaking into the GUN headquarters but you know. theyre just there it feels like.
anyways 10/10 movie i loved it cant wait for the next one. loved the fight scenes, the moments with shadow and maria (i cried), and even robotnik's last goodbye. that also made me cry somehow
Finished the Knuckles Show and uhhhhhhhhhh it’s certainly a show.
There’s good stuff buried in every episode especially where Knuckles is concerned. They set up a very interesting arc for him and just didn’t really explore much with it. After the first episode Knuckles is shoved to the side CONSTANTLY and is made the B plot more often than he should be as the TITULAR character.
Every criticism that said Wade takes over the show is correct.
After episode 1, Wade takes over every A plot and Knuckles is only ever in the B plot that has either minimal time focused on him or he’s just straight up not around (episode 4 is the worst offender here but it’s an issue from eps2-6). They actively write Knuckles out of the plot constantly and it’s very frustrating.
If you like Wade and enjoy his personal journey about his family then this’ll be fine. I, for one, thought it was interesting on its own but 100% it has no reason to be here in a SONIC MOVIE KNUCKLES spin off show. This is not Knuckles’ show. It’s Wade’s and that’s the biggest let down.
Knuckles IS there but that’s it, he’s just THERE.
And it sucks because Movie!Knuckles himself is very well crafted and very entertaining and engaging to watch. The show is at its strongest when it’s about Knuckles and spending time with him. Episode 1 is the only episode that it feels like what it was advertised as - the Knuckles show.
Sonic, Tails, and Maddie only show up for the first episode and never come back. Which is wild because part of the plot is Maddie has grounded Knuckles and he sneaks out but there’s never any consequences shown once he gets home nor do we see how anyone reacted once they noticed Knuckles is gone. These three are just abandoned after episode 1.
Tails has like 6 or 7 lines, my boy deserves sm better LMAOO
A big highlight, however, I LOVED Sonic in this one episode. The way you can see and FEEL how he’s grown from movie to movie and in this first episode is very well done. He’s truly becoming the Sonic I know and when he and Knuckles had their conversation on the roof where he tries to help Knuckles see the beauty in Green Hills, his home - that entire scene was PURE Sonic’s golden heart on display. He does still have his jokes that remind you Ben Schwartz is his actor and that he’s a silly kid but he IS still Sonic at his core and I loved that. It made me very sad we didn’t get to see more of him but I appreciated seeing Sonic handled this way. It makes me very eager to see how movie 3 goes about him considering everything Shadow brings to the table and how different of a threat he’s gonna be for Sonic.
Episode 2 is alright but GOOD LORD episodes 3-5 are such a waste of time. There’s good sprinkled in them in isolation but as full blown episodes, a waste. You can skip most of what’s happened and be fine.
The big climax fight in the finale just HAPPENS. The plot armor literally comes bursting through the wall and yanks Knuckles out of the plot for way too long and we only get TRUE and INCREDIBLE Movie Knuckles action (his fire fists which were insane btw) in the last 5 minutes and it only lasted like 2 of those 5 minutes.
Overall, it’s not entirely unwatchable but it’s not worth a majority of people’s time. You don’t need this for movie 3 so if you wanna skip it - I’d recommend that. If you really watch though, I’d only say watch the first episode and the finale and just google the context for what’s in between bc eps 2-5 are total slogs after a while.
If you like silly dumb fun - this is the show for you. But it’s not the show many Sonic fans may have wanted or expected.
I’m not angry or anything like many people have been. It’s not worth getting angry over. I’m moreso just disappointed because I can see a good show about Knuckles hidden in there. They just opted to give more time into Wade for whatever reason.
Just an overall let down imo.
Knuckles deserved better❤️
Awww the hug is so sweet
“Is this Brad Torrance?”
“It is love! Send help!” Lmao
Oh dang
“Hovering closer than my shadow?” That’s a fun saying, don’t think I’ve heard that one before
It’s Sargent, not ma’am
“Yes ma’am- I mean Sargent!” lol
Hen’s look when Buck is talking about wanting to text him - that stare piercing
The chief walking in while Eddie’s playing keep away with Buck’s phone
Booo “better start praying” grow a pair don’t tell a star they can snatch somebody from their job
Sparks feels off to me
“That’s real power” ew
Athena testing him like that, girl, don’t do that he’s gonna come after you I feel it
Athena also doesn’t like him! (Vindication!)
Hen and Athena besties!! I’ve missed them chatting
Bobby keeps getting hugs he doesn’t want 😭
“Twice in one week, what a blessing”
Omgod dude, Bobby’s married, leave him be
I don’t feel bad for Gerrard but I do feel uncomfortable watching him cry
Take that elsewhere dude, I don’t wanna see that
Telling my mom about the “he wants the cookie so f-ing bad meme” to explain the craziness of Brad’s obsession with Bobby
Leader of Man! That’s Bobby!
God Brad is being a freak - shut up dude
You’re so right Bobby, she absolutely deserves an apology
Everyone immediately recording, if he’s this brazen around Bobby who hes obsessed with I’m surprised there aren’t a bunch of videos that the team brought up after learning Bobby was working with him
Holy shit
Why did you reach for a weapon at all? You didn’t need one asshole
Calling it a taser over and over again doesn’t make it one, dumbass
Gotta say, I prefer when we don’t have police based storylines but Angela Bassett is such a memorizing actress
I’m glad we see Sparks having to deal with the consequences of his actions at least, if we have to have this kind of storyline
Then saying “limey ass” in unison - beautiful
Also love the show immediately proving me right, there should be so many Brad Torrance videos!
Love a good “____ behind me, aren’t they?” moment
Omgod he’s gonna shadow Bobby
Oh poor Bobby, Brad’s gonna cause so much buffoonery, isn’t he?
The promo with Eddie being in the car while the water rises reminds me of S1 when Buck was in the elevator with the water rising
