For a good chunk of time I had no bias, but then Riwoo dyed his hair cherry red, he showed off more of his personality, and it was game over for me.

Still Riwoo. He's not only a great dancer, but he has proven to be a great singer as well. He has such a distinct voice and tone. His cover of Taeyang's 'Darling' was also, like... a cultural shift. Something seriously went wrong in my brain when he performed that.

Beyond the performance, I've always appreciated how he makes the distinction between 'Sanghyeok' and 'Riwoo' and that he seems very aware of his role and function as an idol. And he also just seems like a really kind person. So yeah.

All of OT6. There are certain performances where one member shines more than the other, which obviously then grabs the eye. I think I'm most often taken aback by Woonhak, but that's because he seems like the coolest teenager to ever exist.

"But Sometimes", I really liked the combination of on-location filming and exaggerated sets, and how the MV broke reality in various ways. The kitschy grunge look was also spot on for what they were going for. Jaehyun's rap part felt the most inventive to me in terms of the videography complimenting the storytelling.

As of right now, "WHY", because we got some iconic stages at award shows with "But Sometimes" as the main feature. I think we all remember them going, "BOY to the NEXT to the DOOR! Remember!" and just. how iconic that was. Leehan b-boying. Dozens of dancers going crazy with them. Taesan sitting on a throne. Riwoo's hats getting crazier and crazier. So many cool moments during awards season.

"Serenade" for sure. K-pop underestimates the power of a good tableau and "Serenade" gives us plenty of those. The choreo just really works well with the story they're telling.

In terms of tone and voice, I prefer Taesan, but Jaehyun has the better verses and flow in my opinion.

Their styling is always hit or miss, but I'm just a fashion snob. And I'm of the opinion that a slow, gradual growth will always be better than skyrocketing fame. I see a lot of people on Twitter begging for that shot of ultra fame for them, but I don't think that benefits any group in the long run. So, let bonedo grow slowly.

Claire, Toby, and Douxie headcanons?

Claire:

The blue streak on her hair was the only real way she could express her rebellious self in her strict household. As she gets older, Claire is able to express her punk nature more in her outfits.

At some point Claire decides to get a familiar. After looking through her options, she ultimately decided what would be better than having your very own shadow as her familiar. When that happens, her shadow gains sentience and can do some spooky magic together.

She'd probably help teach or harbor new wizards of all kinds of magic while doing some theater on the side.

Claire absolutely loves collecting creepy porcelain dolls, her house will probably be full of them.

Toby:

Toby has a collection of old/vintage comics cause Nana is old and originally bought them for her son Ralph. His favorite series a superhero comic call Lobster Johnson, he would show it to Jim all the time when they were younger. If you understood this reference, you get a cooke :3

Toby is a furry obviously lol, but he figured that out while he was dating Darci. She introduced him to the fandom and Toby realized that he was into it. When they're older, Toby and Darci probably go to conventions together.

Toby would definitely have his wedding party at a place like Dave & Busters cause at least his guest will have something to do and not just sit around for hours.

He probably sucks at cooking. Toby has a love for it but unfortunately there's a 56 percent change that a piece of kitchen supply will go up in flames.

Douxie:

Douxie is practically like a cool uncle to the group. He loves interacting with them and is like the coolest person in their eyes, but he understands that they are not as mature as he is and kinda has to talk down to them if that makes sense.

Throughout the centuries when he creates a new identity, Douxie switches up on his gender appearance. There is no real reason other than him thinking "eh, I don't feel like being a guy this time".

Being Archie's familiar, Douxie has some little dragon like features at times as a side affect. They're pretty minuscule, but it sure as hell makes him look really cool.

Douxie has a motorcycle that his powered by his magic, it can do all kinds of magic stuff and can go really, really fast.

He probably has done all kinds of different jobs, I'm sure he has plenty of stories about the odd jobs he did that led to the most wacky shit imaginable.

Black Knight’s such a funky game because the core gameplay is exceptionally simple in terms of its mechanics, right. But the levelling system and blacksmith stuff have so many “hidden” (not really hidden, but they’re not the sort you’re necessarily gonna pay attention to) mechanics that add more depth to the whole thing and which have just widely gone underappreciated. Like there’s a whole morality system which can put permanent badges on your file that give you in game benefits and drawbacks and shit, the ranking system and follower counts and how they contribute to levelling and unlocking exclusive style skills, the tons of equippable items you can throw on to impact gameplay a little bit or change the music even!

The thing that was especially coolest to me when I played the game growing up was the weapon crafting system - they went to the effort of modelling 11 extra weapons for each of the non-Sonic characters just for the hell of it! And they’ve all got like unique materials that go into crafting them! And fair enough the majority of them don’t actually offer notable gameplay differences at all and a few of them sorta reuse each other’s models in some way, but isn’t it dope that that’s like a thing anyway? And the final weapons offer huge buffs to every character too so!

Like they absolutely did not have to do this and they just did!

And then I also just wanna mention the multiplayer. Because mechanically, despite offering a fair few game modes they are all fundamentally pretty simple, and I don’t know if anyone playing the game today is gonna have a great time with any of them. But specifically for the multilplayer mode - they added tons of other playable characters just for the hell of it. Regular Shadow, Knuckles and Blaze are available, obviously. But they also brought in Amy and gave her her own animations and shit. Or how about Blacksmith Tails? He doesn’t even have an in-game model in the main game they made that shit just for multiplayer. Or King Arthur himself, the main antagonist for the first half of the game, being playable in there! Most fucking impressively of all, Silver and Jet getting Knight designs as Galahad and Lamorak and being thrown in there, once again with unique weapons and animations and shit! I don’t know if we know enough about Black Knight’s development to know if, say, those two specifically were supposed to be part of the main game and got cut - or if they really are just a bonus for multiplayer. But isn’t it sick as fuck that that’s a thing either way?

Suppose the whole thing is you can comfortably beat Black Knight’s main story in like less than 3 hours tops but despite that fact they absolutely stuffed the game with content, and yo I just think that’s sick lol.

Ken has pretty mixed reviews I think so it’s hard to say if it’s an unpopular opinion to like him. In general I avoid any hate of Ken and just associate with the girlies who are nice to him. BUT I still wanna talk about how much I love Ken anyways so I’ll just answer both parts of this ask 🏂

Kens relationship with Shinji and his specific theories on what happened to his mother vary in each different version of p3 but I’m very much a fan of versions like the movie where the two of them have a sweet bond before Ken learns the truth. Like Ken looking up to shinji and seeing him as just the nicest and coolest guy ever is really cute and the way he nervously asks if Shinji wants to go to the summer festival with him is also so fucking cute. And Shinji feels a mix of shit like obvious guilt and a fear of being too close to Ken but also he’s so fucking protective of Ken too and just wants the kid to be happy and safe and like Shinji is just the kinda guy who’d have a massive soft spot for kids so he definitely would have a soft spot for Ken. But hnnghh I’m not here to talk about that! So yeah I think Ken loves Shinji a lot but then when he discovers the truth everything becomes really fucking complicated. There’s this really good moment in the movie where right before October 4th Ken is taking care of the fish Shinji won for him at the fair (WHICH IS SO CUTE) and he starts crying and is like “of all people, whyd it have to be you?” Which makes me sob so I love like. Ken has known for some time that there was some unnatural bullshit with his mothers death and that she was killed, but he’s been completely invalidated by the police and really any adult he’s tried telling this to. So he just becomes more and more resentful because no one ever takes him seriously and he KNOWS what he saw so he takes it upon himself to reveal the truth and get revenge. His idea of revenge is like a vague idea that just kinda spirals I’d say like he definitely thinks his mom was murdered in an intentional and malicious way so it’s easy to hate her killer and it’s easy to want to kill them. But then when he realizes it’s Shinji it throws him for a loop cuz he loves Shinji and while their time together has been short, he’s a good guy like yeah he’s intimidating and isn’t in control of his persona or his emotions but the idea of him being a murderer is really hard to believe. But Ken has been building this idea in his head for so long and he’s so young and has been told everything is black and white so he tries to carry out his plan anyways. AND THIS IS JUST MY PERSONAL BELIEF but if they hadn’t been interrupted I genuinely don’t think Ken would’ve been able to kill Shinji. I think he would’ve been standing there shaking and sweating like IM GONNA DO IT IM GONNA GET YOU but he doesn’t move at most he would injure Shinji but he wouldn’t kill him. He isn’t in his right mind and his worldview is shattering I think he could’ve been talked out of it cuz he’s a good kid man and he was very clearly hesitant

So yeah I love his relationship with shinji and his rage that comes from grief and invalidation, he really does just need a fucking hug. And I love how sweet he is how much he cares about the others and how like. He really is just 10 years old and you just wanna get him outta there lol like he should not be fighting shadows he should be playing shadow the hedgehog 😭

And my ass is always here to appreciate p3p and its themes like oh my godddd AAAAAA. Anyone who says Kotone goes against the theme of the game is just like. Stupid? And misogynistic obviously. Cuz i really truly don’t see how??? Like genuinely don’t know how that conclusion can be reached other than misogynistic nonsense. I love Kotone she’s a very good protagonist I’d say what really makes her work for me in contrast with the other protagonists is like. She isn’t some sorta Perfect Ideal Man for the straight men playing to project onto like just by being a girl they kinda had to throw that idea out the window lol and she’s just like silly and goofy, she isn’t this perfect amazing mold she’s just chilling. I think Kotone brings out the best in the team like portables version of the characters is the ideal way of experiencing them like they’re so so good and i really really felt like everyone loved and cared for each other cuz that’s a problem that persona games have imo (in 4 UGHHH they all just like treated each other horribly and everyone acts like they’re such great friends and I’m like. And obviously her social links are leagues better like why would I want the alternative like hello Akihiko and Shinji are literally the stars and the moon that’s so fucking good and I can hang out with Ken and a dog and a cool librarian girl. I’ll say the romance options are pretty shit but guys honestly, persona romance routes have never really been GOOD

Then I guess the big controversy, the pocket watch coma route, I’ve gone on record pretty much every goddamn day voicing my love for this aspect of the game like. It’s all the same; Shinji is deeply suicidal and literally dies thinking he deserves it, his death being “necessary” for the theme to work is such a slap in the face to me like it comes off as either Shinji dying was meant to be a lesson to the audience to not live like him cuz that’d be wasting your life which is, really shitty and inconsiderate like good god I think being depressed because you can’t control your emotions and you accidentally killed a woman when you were 16 is pretty justified i dont think you can just “move on” from that. The alternative is his death is supposed to be this tragedy that the player must overcome because they’re trying to say that death happens and you lose people and it sucks but that doesn’t mean life isn’t worth living which. First off, literally all these characters have already lost someone important to them so killing off Shinji is completely unnecessary and second uh. I feel like if that’s the lesson you wanna teach, shouldn’t Shinji be like the ideal character to teach it to??? And like I’ve said this many times but it’s really hard for me to feel good about this games themes when the character whose struggles i related to most apparently needed to die for the message to work like. Thanks for that 😞. I don’t think you have to avoid ever writing suicide or like bad things happening to suicidal characters but this specific instance was just. Oh it was so bad I hate it so much I refuse to play any version of this game where Shinji dies I refuse.

So uh basically when he gets to live, specifically through the power of friendship, it means so much to me. It’s a good way of showing how simple acts of kindness can go a long way and we keep each other alive by being loving to one another and taking care of each other and that’s what life’s all about. And I like optimism and love being used to show life is worth living cuz that’s way more effective in making me want to live than some fear mongering shit. So yeah I’m clinging onto Shinji getting to live for dear life it’s actually so so important to me that someone like him get a chance to realize he’s worth something and he deserves to be alive and happy and he can get there one day. Makes me feel less hopeless 🥰

(ETA: imagine what this must look like to Deku though. he’s been caught up in this dark cloud of despair and exhaustion that’s been building up over... I’m gonna go ahead and say “weeks”, because yeah. and now he finds himself here, in the place where All Might’s legacy ended and the torch was passed to him. and the world is in ruins, and he’s surrounded by frightened people who are all trying to hurt him -- because who isn’t trying to hurt him, these days -- and he’s scrambling to figure this all out, but meanwhile the weariness is finally starting to catch up to him, and so he’s basically just standing there in a fog of complete and utter misery.

and then all of a sudden through that haze, he hears the one voice that’s more familiar than any other that he knows. like, I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if he thought he was just imagining it at first. Kacchan showing up to save him right when he’s at his most desperate and feeling the most alone. Kacchan, showing up to save him.

this is the person he always looked up to as a child (to be fair he was quite a strange child lmao). the person who was even closer to him than All Might. the person he always thought was amazing. and bam, here he is now. appearing in the sky out of nowhere to one-shot the bad guy with a single blast (which, btw, that was his armor-piercing attack too lmao dslkjlk take it easy there kiddo). like, that must have felt absolutely surreal to him, especially coming at a time when he’s already half-delirious and barely hanging on to reality. he must have really thought that he was losing it there for a second.

but he’s really there. it really is him. and for this brief moment -- before the rest of the situation catches up to him, and he remembers about all of the fucked-up AFO stuff, and remembers why he was so afraid and why he was pushing everyone away -- for just this one brief moment, he’s too exhausted and stunned to do anything except to just react. just stands there, looking up at him in awe.

and you know, it almost reminds me of...

just. you guys. the character development. the freaking character development. someone who brings reassurance. someone who shows up and makes you think, “oh, it’s all going to be okay now, because [person] is here.” the role reversals. the growth. the payoff!! because who is the one person who always had faith that Kacchan would one day grow up to become an amazing hero like that. Hey! So, I'm working on an fic in which in the Lone Pines timeline, Marty has a little sister who's about six or seven (she was a bit of a surprise). I know a lot of people might have a similar idea, but I just love this idea of Marty seeing this little girl at the breakfast table and he has no idea who she is, but she utterly adores him. Since you seem to be the the headcanons expert, do you have any for this idea? Oh, by the way, her name is Leah, by the way.

Second of all: I wish "headcanons expert" was a valid credential I could use in my actual life. (also, thanks!)

Don't know what you've already come up with in terms of this idea, so obviously my own headcanons may not work for you. Gonna include just whatever comes to my mind and run with the idea in general (not so much focusing on headcanons that fit into a specific fic or plot). Feel free to use what you like and ignore whatever you don't in shaping your fic and their relationship :)

I shall put it under a cut due to the unavoidable rambling I must partake in.

Anon (and whoever else is interested), here are some headcanons on big brother Marty:

Marty is understandably baffled at such a major change. I mean, his altered family is a major change already, but a whole other person is a little hard to digest. Dave and Linda may be different, but there are still many things about them that are familiar to Marty. With Leah, he's starting completely from scratch.

He probably goes through a whole range of emotions. Confusion. Maybe some anger. Sadness at not being the "baby" anymore.

Also, when he happens to first meet her is probably an important detail. If she's sitting at the breakfast table (like you mentioned) during that scene towards the end of Pt I, he at least has the benefit of being able to ask Doc questions about her over the course of their other adventures. Maybe during any "down time"/scenes we don't see in the movies, Marty picks Doc's brain about this new family member and is able to get a crash course before arriving back to 1985. BUT if she's like...in her bedroom during the breakfast scene and doesn't emerge until the family is leaving for brunch at the end of III, Marty is pretty much out of luck, lol.

Regardless, Marty has to pull himself together, get to know this little girl, and be thrown headfirst into being a big brother. He'd always wanted a younger sibling, though, so he tries to see the bright side.

Idk what you envision her personality as, but my headcanon instinct is that she's a lot like Marty: headstrong, energetic, and kind-hearted. Maybe the running joke in the McFly house is that they had Marty and then years later got surprised with another mini-version of him.

Anyway, it's abundantly clear right away who Leah's favorite sibling is. She absolutely thinks Marty is THE COOLEST guy ever and follows him like a shadow, which is weird at first because she feels so much like a stranger to him. But she's just so sweet and earnest in her love for him that he feels that innate pull to love her back. So despite not remembering anything about their relationship or about her in general, he does know one thing. He loves this kid.

At the same time, though, he's pretty sure she's also going to be the reason he either loses his mind or goes gray before he's 20. She's every bit as spirited and impulsive as he is, but being so young, she doesn't always have the ability to tell when something is dangerous. Sometimes Marty feels like he is personally responsible for keeping that girl from breaking a bone or setting the house on fire. It gives him a deeper appreciation for his own parents who had to deal with him when he was little.

Marty discovers that Jennifer and Leah have a special bond of their own. Leah looks up to Jen as well and is always excited to see her. Marty is bewildered to find out that, occasionally, the two of them bring Leah along when they go out. They'll plan a "date night" of sorts, but it isn't really a date because they've got a six-year-old with them. So, they usually end up at the arcade or go out to get ice cream.

If your personal headcanons include the Brown family moving back to 1985, you can bring Doc in on all of this! Given that Marty doesn't have the memories, Doc actually knows more about Leah than he does (which is strange & very jarring to Marty). But Leah loves Doc. He's her bizarre, eccentric, mad-scientist uncle-type figure. And once the fam comes back to the present, she becomes fast friends with Jules and Verne.

OOH! Having a little sister could also be a fantastic avenue to explore some of that "time travel aftermath" stuff Marty has to deal with. You know, after having to witness countless horrific, PTSD-inducing events? Well, Leah is super in tune with Marty, and being so young, she's very open about saying what's on her mind and expressing her feelings. So whenever Marty seems off or upset, she immediately stops whatever she's doing and focuses on helping him. Of course, she does this in a way typical of a six-year-old. Sometimes that means loudly asking, "Marty what's wrong??" or "Why are you sad?" in front of the rest of the family. But other times, she takes a gentler approach to comforting her big brother. Giving him a hug, sharing a favorite snack, or making up a silly joke to get him to laugh. She actually may be the family member who is most aware that Something Is Wrong with Marty, though she's unsure as to what it could be. Her top two theories include: a bigger kid is being mean to him at school, or there is a monster under his bed that is keeping him awake and making him cranky and upset.

As time goes on, Marty finds that having such a young sibling is a fantastic way to start working through the whole time-travel fiasco without raising suspicion. He starts getting into the habit of telling Leah bedtime stories, and at first, he really is just reading to her from a book. But soon he starts "making up" his own stories. One about a kid who is the youngest sibling in an unhappy family. A kid whose best friend builds a time machine that he gets to test out (Marty decides to leave out the whole "terrorists show up and violently murder the scientist" part, as well as some of the other questionable content). But night after night, Marty continues to weave together as much of his adventures as possible, all under the guise of just making up a story for his little sister. He tells her about the kid getting his parents back together and how the dad saves the mom from the bully. About how the kid and his friend go into the future, and there are hoverboards and holograms, and shoes that lace themselves. But the kid does something wrong and messes everything up, so they have to fix it. Except it's scary and dangerous and everything is upside down, but he has to make it right. Then, just when things seem better, his best friend disappears into the Old West. And on and on Marty goes, while Leah is on the edge of her seat every night begging for Marty to tell her just a little bit more. Eventually, he reaches the end: where the kid finally goes back home and has to get used to everything that's new and different in his life. Maybe Marty even gets a little choked up at this point, because sometimes he still misses the way things used to be and hates that he can't remember the details of his current life. And the two of them are just sort of sitting there silently--Marty because he's made himself all emotional, and Leah because she's confused as to why Marty seems so sad after telling such a fantastic, exciting story. But she just snuggles up close to him and tells him that maybe the boy in the story will love his new family and life. Maybe he'll be happy. And Marty wraps an arm around her and is quiet a while before adding on to the story and telling Leah that she's right. The boy does end up happy and loves his family, even though they're different.

Aaaand...I'm gonna go ahead and wrap it up there. Maybe you can use some of these as inspiration, and if not, I hope you at least enjoyed reading them. Keep me updated on the fic, because I definitely want to check it out. I don't think I've ever read a BTTF fic with this concept before.

1. So in the dancing games, Akira can wear the demi fiend costume, so I was thinking that he could be chased around a labyrinth because Dante did chase the main protagonist in SMT 3. Fantasy High Rant (and why you should watch it)

Ok I got suggested this and I cant believe I've been sleeping on this series in the last two years. This series is freaking fantastic! I’m screaming.

Overview is this is a modern d&d fantasy land a la Onward Style, where we follow fantasy Scooby Doo gang as they try to solve the mystery of missing students while interacting with the fantastical citizens of Spyre.

I hella love it, because while it has such a great mystery of whats going on in the town, who is doing what and why, etc etc, and it just GROWS the more you watch it. You think it was something simple, but the conspiracy rabbit hole gets deeper and deeper. But to me the main pull is just seeing how our Party just interacts with everyone and each other. This is a very character driven series, which makes sense this is a d&d party, you have to get attached to the party if you want them to work together.

Fabian Seacaster: God he’s fun to watch. The rich kid high class type of character but is just has so much gusto. I love his relationship with his family, it’s adorable. He just adores his parents and his parents adore him back. Like Addams style adoration. He is a bit full of himself and arrogant and has a thing of living up to his father's legacy as well as his family name, but I think his arc is him learning that he doesn't have to define himself through his dad and can be his own person. Plus my favorite moments are him screaming “WHAT IS HAPPENING” because out of everyone he mostly the straight man dealing with people.

Gorgug: I just love him. He is just so sweet. He is just a gentle giant and confused all the time. I feel so bad that he keeps getting the shit end of the stick to save the rest of the party. Like the whole "stealing backpack" shit to basically set him up as the outcasts of outcasts. Granted I’m laughing my ass off when it happens, but he is just so anxious it’s cute. He is just very sweet and genuine, even if he is a little awkward. I also love him just asking if people are his dad lol he just wants to know. But when he rages he’s basically God-Tier Shaggy. 

Fig: lol her angsty teenage years finding out she isn't who she thought she was. Tbf her dad basically said she was the reason for her parents divorce soooo take that as you will. Her being the "bad girl" but also very helpful when she can is great. Her flirtatious punk attitude, the winking, and rocking bard stuff. I low key like the idea of her being with Gorgug because of the moments in Barbarian class and giving him drumsticks. And I also like her with Fabian as just a wild cool kid power couple. Also her fucking with Goldenhoarde is the best with her being sexual,with him. Its super funny.

Riz: I freaking love him. Kid detective on the case. The business cards for friendship which I mean, makes sense. His goal from day one was to find the missing girls and babysitter. I'm sorry he has a poor house to use water cereal, but his mom just loves him and I think that’s sweet. His family is the coolest and he isn’t afraid to admit how cool his family is. But he has direction, he has a mission, and he does it with determination. Plus I love how he is The Ball and everyone is just going with it and now supports it. Him fucking with Fabian is great. And I'm glad he is reconsidering his life choices after meeting the AV kids.

Adaine: She needs help. The panicking one. I mean, her family,obviously looks down on her and she is literally jealous of all the other kids parents (love the gnomes). She is learning to find her own magic her own way and trying to shatter the expectation forced on her. God I support her just fucking people up, especially with Pixie Boy.She is just trying to deal with things which honestly this adventure is getting her to open up and not take shit. Character Arc: Don’t Take Shit.

Kristen: I’m just watching a train wreck here. Like she was 100% Helios all the way. But now it is just watching her questioning everything about religion after dying. Its amazing from looking into other religion herself and just how it ALL escalates from there as she is pulled further and further away from her religion and old life. Learning that how she was raised was just so fucked. Like I'm just seeing how far this goes and if she will pick another god instead or just not be a cleric anymore.

Also I'm like never going to post a completed version of this post because I’m way too fucking obsessed. I went from ep 8 yelling about Kristen’s religious life to episode 13 plot-twist end. I basically am physically restraining myself from watching episode 15 before I type this or else this will never be typed. I can literally go off about all the characters there is just so many good moments.

Basically, check out the show yourself. It’s on Youtube, it’s hilarious. Watching the reactions and faces is just so much fun to see. 100% recommend.

Midway through Ep 8:

Ok it was fucking Kristen! Like not her obviously, but she was the hellmouth! She was the initial sacrifice! Demon-Dad Garthox said that the Hellmouth can be opened inside a person, and Goth Kid Blane was working for the Harvestmen Helios to get that page. And lo and behold the page was in the corn vat that Kristen's book was pushed into! Coincidence? I think not!

They thought that it was somehow Adaine's magic that caused it, or the very least it was the bully,guy who chucked Kristen's book in. But no, the page was already inside her book and fell into the corn! If bully ass McGee didn't hit the book out of her hands, then she might have been the victim! Which makes sense, why not have a follower of Helios bring the end times in His name.

Which means that it could be Daybreak or her parents that gave her the page in her bible for this.

God,is this what Helios meant when it "wasn't her time?" Because she is needed as the Hellmouth Sacrifice?

And this makes the whole "sneaking into heaven" part make sense now. If Aguefort was trying to be assassinated by Helios, he could sneak into Helios Heaven and spy on them from the afterlife. He's a weird ass man I'm sure he can pull it off.

Also Fig's Dad is hella cool and I totally love him for,trying to be a parent and mature about this. Fig is totally supportive of him and I love it.

Ok I'm going back to finish episode 8 I just REALLY needed to rant about that.

Screaming about Episode 13:

The oracle was going to return,if the country was in danger. It was but she was,kidnapped/killed on an illusion ship to stop,her. Rix dad is a spy and he was 100%,super dope about it and him just finding his family secrets I was just crying like, he found his legacy, his entire family was,badasses he was so happy and took up his dad's gun for justice. Like how cool is it for a goblin spy,being small and already default evil to infiltrate that is so clever. That is what gets me on this show,is that they take these cool setting and ideas and how they are twisted to fit the fantasy. Cops? Fantasy cops. Skateboarders? Fantasy skateboarders.

Which lets be real, I think the best battle where they really,worked together was during the skateboarders.

This mystery is building and building and I,guess Penelope is,trying to,be queen,via homecoming queen which is,weird and has a Sarah berry vibe to,it. Which is fucking nuts.

Now I’m wondering if nice guy,pixie actually was in on it day 1, or if he was turned over after he was "beaten" like the bad guys offered him a way to make his dream girls his 2D pets. Which, gross. But Biz part doesn't necessarily fit with the main plot. He obv isn't behind this.

Kalvaxus is a demon with money. His money needs to be destroyed. So they are funneling his money through the banks. They used his ship in disguise to kidnap/capture/kill the oracle to prevent her from returning, which she said she would if the country was in danger. Yes the religious Harvestmen wanted to start the apocalypse via Kristen, but ass-elf diplomat said it wouldn't really work, but it would break the treaty and start war. Kalvaxus. Coach Daybreak had control,on Zane, who had control over Johnny Spells to kidnap girls, and since Alwin had a spell to find "maidens/virgins" they need the girls, either as a sacrifice or as conduits to power the arcane source. Was all of this to raise Kalvaxus from hell to the mortal world? That would explain the power source at the arcade with the trapped girls, to keep the connection going. The only,thing I can think,as to why Penelope would be as high up as she is in this conspiracy is if Kalvaxus is her dad. Which I guess,everyone has dad issues in,this group.

Side note, I appreciate how Gorgug thinks himself as,dumb but gets really smart ideas and the whole party agreed they are smart. Like,he was the first to,put 2 and 2 together about Kalvaxus== KVX bank, even if he didn't outright say it.

All,the adults are really,enjoyable,to see. I fucking love Rix’s mom shes so cool. And Gilear is actually really,pitifully funny. I wouldn't think I would like,him as much after that first episode, but he is actually hilarious being the lunch lad and just trying his best.

Where was the last place you went for vacation? The beach. When was the last time you wore makeup? Halloween. Do you watch soaps or drama series? If so, which ones? Not currently. What’s your favourite tomato variety? I hate tomatoes. What was your very first pet like? Dad had a dog named Trigger when I was born, but I have no memory of her, so I'm excluding her. I consider our first family pet to be Chance, a cat my mom took in after finding her literally in the trash. She was... god, incredible. She was a loyal friend, and I can imagine no greater mother than she was (she legit fought off a rottweiler head-on to protect her kittens). She was so smart, so gentle, and just simply amazing. I'll always miss her. What was the best school project you remember doing? Looking back, despite the fact it TERRIFIED me before, that would be my senior project presentation. - choerry and hyunjin i get. obv. they led with choerry and hyunjin right? probably bc everyone already knows the connection bc theyve been highlighting it the entire time lol. hyunjins link to oec (primary colours), choerry acting as her replacement in oec? kind of? like a version of hyunjin that jinsoul and kim lip created? maybe? and then choerry took hyunjins place in that version of love and live and so what showed them as twins and maybe theyre supposed to be the same person. or maybe theyre just besties who knows anyway

- i think olivia and heejin were next and theyre obvious too the first and last girl and then they meet on the roof in egoist and its like the loonaverse/mobius strip has come full circle or whatever but also im pretty sure theyre both the closest things to deities the loonaverse has like heejin was the first girl the founder, i think she invented colour? thats heavily implied in vivid anyway and then olivia maybe invented darkness?? or something idk im pretty sure shes got something funky going on bc nobody else has random laser eyes (also when are THEY making a comeback) and if yves and/or jinsoul truly are the loonaverse’s villains well then theyre both working against olivia right so that would make her..the loonaverse’s saviour??? mirroring its founder?

- chuu and haseul are both the December Girls TM and both the powerhouse vocals or whatever so theres an immediate but basic connection but i also think that bit at the end of heart attack was haseul maybe trying to save chuu from yves’ charm but she was too late, bc werent chuu and gowon the ones to tempt hyunjin away from her oec duties or whatever with the bracelet (im going to circle back to oec they are objectively the coolest part of the loonaverse) meaning that chuu and gowon dont actually have access to 1/3 world/plane/whatever you want to call it or i think they would have been a bit more direct about it bc that was obviously yves’ idea, chuu and gowon are not portrayed as cunning enough to come up with something like that imo, and anyway obviously haseul is in 1/3 world so i wonder if the connection between chuu and 1/3 world was about to be lost and that was haseul trying to hold on and pull her back? also i think most orbits think that all the girls started off in eden and branched out but i think they actually started off in 1/3 world, like the normal world where heejin/god wants everyone to be, and got lost for various reasons but im less sure about that. 

- yves and jinsoul both radiate pretty sinister energy i mean jinsoul is always randomly showing up and giving off a weird vibe (a. why was she following vivi around hong kong b. kidnapping choerry with the cherry cake?? c. egoist. what d. why not when shes just lurking on the corner in the phone booth. also sweet crazy love implies that she got her odd eye first since kim lip and choerry are walking around with their eyes starting to hurt but jinsoul has already been to the optometrist, and then she can teleport so she can show up basically anywhere and just do what shes gotta do to be evil or whatever) and then yves is pretty explicitly and literally a snake in the grass, breaking out of eden which im pretty sure is supposed to be purgatory, which would mean that waiting it out and getting the approval of the teacher at the end as olivia did is what youre supposed to do but yves was rebellious/impatient and just took the sneaky back way out except then she ended up getting lost in the forest with chuu and gowon (which begs the question of what exactly happened to yeojin because they were very vague about that) (and also what the forest is supposed to represent? hell? in that case where are odd eye circle? because if heejin is god that would imply 1/3 world is heaven? are odd eye circle in the land of the living? did...bbc kill off loona) anyway that was rambly but chuu and gowon are clearly living their best lives in 1/3 world/heaven/whatever because of a. the haseul thing and b. gowon is clearly going through some kind of transitional state where the shadow/blonde gowon are gowon from another plane (or the future? because if its ‘gowon from another plane’ that implies two gowons) and i dont think shes coming from oec world or shed have an odd eye so she must be coming from 1/3 world but i dont think theres actually any proof of that other than the process of elimination...unless chuu and gowon knowing where to send the bracelet to hyunjin required them having some memory of where 1/3 world was thus implying they both came from there? anyway so they were probably in heaven/angels? they do wear white in hi high, but then in love4eva and butterfly promo pics they wear black maybe suggesting theyre fallen angels? and the reason theyve fallen is yves tempting them, i think yves is absolutely the devil of the situation if heejin is god, im not sure what that makes jinsoul but shes definitely sus

- this is where im getting confused though because i dont really understand what the immediate gowon-vivi and yeojin-kim lip links are? with gowon and vivi i think theyve both been manipulated by yves and realised their mistake when its been too late (vivi becoming a robot, maybe through some kind of bargain yves made with olivia to sacrifice vivi to save herself or something? bc yves and vivi would have been the original troublecausers together so maybe yves spun some kind of sob story to olivia so that olivia would kill vivi and spare yves and then heejin intervened and turned her into a robot temporarily.. man idk and then gowon seems to regret her choice the second she leaves eden (looking back at olivia/hesitating to eat the rose) but she has to just shut up and go along with it i guess) but by that logic you could probably link vivi gowon chuu and maybe olivia and choerry and maybe even jinsoul all together bc hasnt yves screwed basically everyone over? so im not totally sure how they mirror each other exactly, and then im totally lost on yeojin and kim lip. theyre both warm colours? unless their thing is that theyve both been separated from their group within the loonaverse? bc yeojins group was her haseul and choerry, and then choerry was taken to oec world and i guess replaced with hyunjin(/heejin to an extent but it seems like shes everywhere all the time) and kim lips group was her jinsoul and hyunjin, then hyunjin was taken to 1/3 world and replaced with choerry, so theres that link but that doesnt necessarily link yeojin and kim lip specifically bc haseul and jinsoul are also involved but then if it turns out jinsoul is evil and teleporting all over the place with her evil schemes, and i dont get that same vibe from kim lip so maybe its..betrayal? bc with yeojin, i think haseul may have been being chased by her bird self or something, or held hostage maybe? im hoping the bird haseul will come into the lore explanation for why shes been gone (bc im pretty sure theyll work the hiatus into the lore somehow, it would be weird if they didnt imo) anyway so if haseul left yeojin bc of the bird thing and yeojin didnt know about the bird then maybe she would feel betrayed by that...also i thought of this as i was typing but i think kim lip and yeojin have both been lost in the forest due to the actions of their supposed best friends (in the lore) because i think haseul getting kidnapped by the bird or whatever left yeojin on her own and left her susceptible to however one would get lured into the forest...actually if the forest is indeed hell then i just came up with a bit of an uncomfortable and upsetting explanation for that, maybe if being all alone and/or being chased by the frog drove her to, u know, then maybe thats how she ended up there, and then with kim lip i think jinsoul put her there actually. i dont know why but its Something Nefarious i bet

- which then begs the question of what is going to happen this era?? we left off with the girls completing the ritual to turn back time and presumably get haseul back but that opens so many doors? will vivi turn back into a robot? will eden be reinstated? will yeojin be back in the forest? with how jinsoul was lurking around and never really coming out of the dark/hiding in why not, im pretty sure shes got something up her sleeve... odd eye circle could come back properly in some form or another but maybe with jinsoul controlling the other two (if she wasnt already)? also while im on the subject, what are odd eye circle actually doing? who are they? ive always fondly thought of them as a witch coven but..are they actually a witch coven? something to do with the power of three and thats why they had to kidnap choerry? i know theyre looking for the other girls but what for? if they were alive and the other girls were..less so, were they maybe trying to summon them to the land of the living?

let’s talk about the themes of the Sly games

Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus (2002):

Paris: this might not be the game’s main theme but it’s the theme that is most omnipresent. Paris is the glue that connects everything together. it immediately has such an impact on the player, even though it’s just the tutorial and the gang’s base of operations. Sly being a thief but also living in Paris just sounds so right, like it’s the way it should be. it fits. 

The Thievius Raccoonus: this is the main theme and what provides the game with its premise. it’s the book that needs to be glued back together and its importance is highlighted throughout. almost every level has a page included so we’re constantly reminded of its significance. the skills we earn by retrieving the main ancestors’ pages elevate the gameplay and force the player to respect it. other than that it’s a clever way to spotlight the ancestors and establish that Sly does come from a long line of thieves.

Family: this doesn’t need much explaining but i’ll do it anyway. we start off with Sly’s parents getting killed and him landing at an orphanage where he creates a new family for himself with Bentley and Murray. you’ve got 3 different types of family: (A) Connor and Sly’s mom getting murdered and Sly’s aim to avenge them, (B) Bentley and Murray being true brothers when Sly was left with no one (i’m tearing up), and (C) the ancestors, which are explored more in-depth through the theme of The Thievius Raccoonus. Family as a theme explores Sly’s motivations and drive, even though Connor’s role is minor, especially in comparison to his role in Sly 3

Morality: Sly 1 is rudimental in its gameplay. it was a little game with a big promise at the time it was released, hoping to serve Sony and the Playstation 2 with a worthy mascot and an even worthier title. but right off the bat the player is bombarded with a shit-ton of lore about the world Sly lives in and how he operates. we immediately find out he’s an antihero, an honourable thief who has a code of conduct. this comes into stark contrast with the game’s villains who are basically filthy crooks. thief takes down thieves and the theme of Morality is SP’s attempt to make the player distinguish between good criminal and bad criminal. Morality as a theme is spotlighted immensely in Cold Heart of Hate when Sly saves Carmelita because he truly is the good guy, but also when it’s revealed that what’s been keeping Clockwerk alive all these years is the lack of morals and the hatred. the game establishes Morality as the outlining theme of the entire series, placing Sly on a pedestal because he’s honourable. morals trump hatred, so fuck off Clockwerk (even though ‘perfection has no age’ might be one of the coolest lines in the game lol)

Sly 2: Band of Thieves (2004):

Paris: this is the theme from the first game but on steroids. like make it x10. when you take the plot of Sly 2 and boil down to its core, it turns out to be a full-on race against time to save Paris. it provides both a nod to the first game and a sense of closure at the end: the game begins in Paris and ends in Paris. It’s both a setting and a catalyst, and it is absolutely brilliant in the game. you spend most of the game globetrotting, away from home but as soon as you find out ClockLa is on her way to unleash her psychotic brain waves and turn the city evil, you find yourself at the edge of your seat, caring more about Paris than anything else. it’s omnipresent and powerful and i don’t know why but i love it.

Spice: if you wanna be my lover. here’s an amazing replacement for drug trafficking as a plot device in a children’s game: spice. the spice trail is what pushes the narrative forward but also gives the gang something to face before the pieces fall into place and the larger scale of things is revealed. before ClockLa steals the show, spice is the main antagonist in the game. it brings the villains together, leads the gang from one location to another, provides some memorable missions and obstacles (Spice in the Sky and a raged, spice-infused Murray). but it’s not to say that it fades away in the long-run. Spice is actually the subtle thread that connects the episodes together but also is significant to the final master plan of hypnotising Paris.

Deception: obvious one here. Neyla pretending to be an ally is the major example. we’ve got the Contessa pretending to be loyal to Interpol, we’ve got Arpeggio seemingly being the mastermind behind everything (which he kinda was until he wasn’t), we’ve got the whole evil plot reveal on the spice, we’ve got Neyla ripping off Arpeggio on her journey to become the most well-written villain in video-game history. lots going on here. overall great theme. on a wider scale (and i’ve touched on this before in some recent posts) we’ve got SP deceiving the player into thinking the plot is all laid out at Rajan’s ball until it all turns to shit and nothing goes as expected. Appearance V Reality is a sub-theme that pops up when Bentley fights Jean Bison and Bison constantly underestimates Bentley until the turtle fucking blows his lights out. it’s not an instance of Deception per se, but it’s worth mentioning

The Past: Clockwerk’s return makes this a theme instead of a motif. before ‘saving Paris’ becomes the main objective, it’s Sly’s determination to prevent Clockwerk’s revamping that kicks off the game’s events. the events of Sly 1 play a pivotal role here as they lay the groundwork for the plot of Sly 2. it’s not just Sly 2: The Sequel. with its own set of characters and an intricate story it becomes its very own thing. but Clockwerk is the link that connects everything.

Morality: this one sneaks up on you in the game’s second half and just bites you right in the ass when you least expect it. Contessa, who until her boss-fight seems to be just another selfish spider bitch witch, manifests into this advocate for Sly’s inner demons through simple dialogue. fucking brilliant. ‘You’re an ignorant child playing dress-up in his father’s legacy’ (in my opinion, the best line in the entire series) kicks it all off. and then the theme becomes obviously present throughout. it explores the fine line that Sly walks between robin hood and scumbag thief, it shows how the villains are down-right criminals who want to benefit from their crimes, it cracks black and white into a million pieces because in a single game there are like a million layers of good and evil: Barkley at the very top as the authoritarian white, Carmelita as a sympathetic cop who tries to grasp onto her own code of ethics while occasionally running with the thieves, Sly and the gang as antiheroes, the villains as... villains, and Neyla as the embodiment of satan. it’s a scale and the game spotlights this. i had a different bullet point for Justice but i think it falls under Morality. basically, Carmelita’s story arc in Sly 2 deals with blurring her views a bit and re-defining justice

Sly 3: Honour Among Thieves (2005):

Ancestry (Cooper Vault): this is what the game is all about, or at least the premise. after stitching the cottdamn book back together by the end of the first game, Sly 2 doesn’t give any attention to the Thievius Raccoonus. in fact, Sly 2 exists on a completely different plane, using its amazing plot to elevate itself away from the lore of the first game. ancestry is rarely mentioned. flashforward to Sly 3, where SP takes us back to the mythos for a new caper involving a new reveal: the Cooper Vault. what we thought we knew about the ancestors is thrown out the window to pave the way for this mystical place where the Coopers buried their secrets and their loot. i’d like to point out that the theme of Ancestry is great and all but SP does a shitty job in spreading it throughout the game. whilst recruiting the new gang members we often forget why we’re doing so and it’s not until the last episode of the game that we get the fulfilment of the theme’s promise. it’s also worth mentioning that the theme pops up in A Cold Alliance when Tsao is comparing himself to Sly and he speaks of his ancestors but we somehow get the feeling that his ancestors were all colossal jerks like him and had absolutely 0 honour

Family: this is not the same as Ancestry. the new gang members could have very well been distant with each other if not for the adventures that made them bond. Bentley’s fascination with the Guru, Murray being the Guru’s apprentice, Bentley falling for Penelope, Penelope and Panda King helping Murray with the van, Panda King and Sly working alongside each other to kill vampire mantises and the Crusher. these are all moments that helped sell the ‘group of thieves’ aspect of the game. but Family also explores the bond of the original trio and how, even when they face their differences (Bentley and Murray living in the shadow of Sly), they can still make it through, even stronger than before. other references here might include: Panda King and Jing King, Dimitri and the Lousteau diving legacy, Dr. M and McSweeney being Conner’s “sidekicks”

Honour: this replaces the theme of Morality from the previous two games as the situations the characters face allude to honour (doing what’s right for the greater good) rather than morality (black and white, good vs evil). what i mean by that is SP making an effort to distinguish why Sly is a different thief and ultimately an antihero. this was sorta explored in the previous games by having Sly put an end to the villains’ various operations but the overall plot overshadowed those instances. Sly 3 on the other hand fully explores the theme of Honour by including the word in the title and having the gang save the day in every episode. stopping harm to the environment (polluting the Venice canals, destroying the Australian outback), helping Penelope come to terms with her inner demons by encouraging her to drop the facade of the Black Baron, saving Jing King from forced marriage, etc. the theme also ties into the theme of Redemption (below) but what i’d really like to point out is that Carmelita gets in on it as well. i can’t think of a more honourable moment than when she finally, after 3 games, puts the petty cop bullshit aside and comes to Kaine Island with her squad to save Sly from Dr. M. she makes Sly’s battle her own and doesn’t give up, showing up at the very end to save him from Dr. M’s horrific boss-fight (ugh)

Deception: although not as major as in Sly 2, i’ve said this time and time again: Flight of Fancy perfectly encapsulates the theme of Deception. Penelope dressing up as the Black Baron is not the only instance of deception. you’ve got Bentley and Penelope blowing their online avatars out of proportion, you’ve got Dimitri who was initially a villain finally turning sides, you’ve got an episode card full of sunshine and bright blue and gold fonts for a hub that’s all gloomy rainclouds. beyond Flight of Fancy, i can think of a few more instances: some Shakespearian shenanigans when Carmelita disguises herself as Jing King, or when the gang doesn’t reveal their Dead Men Tell No Tales plan to the player and we���re left thinking that Sly is going to get eaten by sharks

Redemption (Choices): speaks for itself, really. this one ties in with Honour and is a sub-theme, maybe a motif. we’ve got Murray’s desire to redeem himself for feeling guilty over Bentley’s accident. we’ve got Dimitri and the Panda King joining the gang after previously being villains in the series, and eventually redeeming themselves through helping with the heist. we’ve got Penelope redeeming herself as the Black Baron by joining the gang. i also named it Choices because these characters chose to redeem themselves. Choices are all over the game, whether its the lack of free will or the sacrifice characters make: Jing King isn’t in a position to choose whether or not she gets married during her capture, Sly sacrifices his cane at the very beginning of the game to save Bentley and then jumps in front of Dr. M’s shot to save Carmelita (!!!)

Closure: or the lack of, smh. SP’s trilogy comes to a close and therefore the theme has to exist even if the game doesn’t provide the player with mass satisfaction. Sly finally gets together with Carmelita, Bentley finally gets over his fear and self-doubt and lives the good life (with Penelope), Murray kicks off his racing career, and we get happy-ever-afters for the rest of the gang as well

“Hi,” he says. “My name is Fjord, over at CaptainTusktooth on YouTube, Twitter and Instagram” – links flash across the page, along with the words ‘lol go and tweet him GIF’s from The Ring’ – “And today, I’m going to be acting as a crash-dummy for –”

“Stop boring my viewers!” Beau yells off-screen.

Fjord gives the camera a long stare. It zooms in a little bit to capture how dead inside he looks, the ambient upbeat music momentarily replaced with the sound of violins.

“This is what happens,” he says. “When you lose a bet with your girlfriend. Learn from my mistakes. Don’t make bets with your girlfriend. You will lose.”

Beau cackles off-screen. The tip of her staff whips along the edge of the frame as she warms up. Fjord looks at her, then back at the camera.

“Jester,” he says. “If I die, I want you to know that this is entirely your fault and –”

“Here I come!”

The scene cuts to Fjord giving a loud, high shriek as he stumbles back. The moment replays once in slow motion, the colour saturated out and violins playing in the background, and then cuts to them both standing in side-by-side.

“Okay, so here’s how to actually hit someone –”

Beau continues to demonstrate how to hit someone without actually hurting them, and then how to hit someone and absolutely hurt them. Fjord remains stoic throughout, though ever so often he’ll make a pained face to the camera whenever Beau lands too-hard a hit. The video ends with a montage of Fjord’s uncomfortable faces overlaid with his initial scream].

Another moment of silence.

[Yasha: …blood?]

“Blood!” Jester yells at the same time. “Oh, you got it right Yasha! Good for you.”

There is a small sigh.

“Here’s what you’re going to need to make this very wonderfully bloody Valentine’s Day Red Velvet Cake,” Jester says. She points at the white granite tabletop and snaps her fingers. Through the magic of jump-cut editing, it soon becomes littered with messily measured bowels of ingredients. Text appears to the side in curly lettering: For ingredients and full recipe, check link to Jester’s blog in the description!!!

The cake that takes form is less anatomically correct than artistically creative, complete with googly-eyes and a dramatically screaming mouth. Jester stands back from her work with a proud smile. She wipes her stained fingers down the length of her apron, which now resembles something out of a particularly gruesome horror movie. Her face is splattered with red food colouring, her nose tipped with a puffy smear of cream cheese icing.

Someone stumbles into the scene. Fjord is very obviously tired, limbs dragging with lethargy, dark bruises visible along his arms. When the kettle begins to make some noise, the man gets to his feet and takes the kettle off the tripod, pouring it into the cup. He stirs it for a little bit with a small stick, and then blows gently over the top. Steam curls up from the cup towards the sky in delicate, smoky tendrils.

The man waits for a few minutes, and then takes a long, generous sip of the tea.

The scene cuts again. The lighting has changed and become much brighter. The buttons on the table have obviously been messed around with. The green-gloved hand is holding up another button up for the camera to inspect, this one bronze-looking and intricately designed.

“I found this one on the coat of a dead person washed up next to the sewer I was hiding behind. I had to polish it a lot to get the bloodstains out of the cracks, but I think it came out okay.”

The rest of the video continues in a similar vein, with the green-gloved hand choosing buttons from the table seemingly at random and relaying stories about each of them. At one point, a cat jumps up onto the table and starts pawing through the buttons, but the green-gloved hand shoos it away before it can eat any of them].

Someone barges into screen, shoving Mollymauk off to the side and glaring at the camera. Her shirt if cobalt blue. Her arms are crossed in front of her chest. Her makeup is smudgy and old.

“Hey, Molly,” she says. “Why don’t you tell your lovely viewers why you’ve been so radio silent these past few weeks.”

“I said you could watch so long as you didn’t interfere! This is going to be a mess trying to edit out –”

“No one wants to watch your foundation, they want to know about –”

“I am a very private person, Beau, and I don’t appreciate –”

Someone comes into frame. She is very tall, with heavy dark makeup and frost-pale skin. Her eyes narrow at the bickering duo, and then she turns her back onto them.

“He got hit by a car,” she says.

“Yasha! Get back behind the camera!”

Yasha shrugs and goes out of frame. Mollymauk is currently in a headlock.

“Wait, on second thought, come and save me –!”

The scene cuts into the future, with Mollymauk and Beau sitting on opposite ends of the bed glaring at each other. They are both noticeably more dishevelled than earlier. Mollymauk’s makeup does, however, remain impeccable.

Words appear at the bottom of the screen:

“Fine,” Mollymauk finally says, sulkily uncrossing his arms and sitting up a little straighter. “This can be my impromptu Q&A! I haven’t done one of those in a while, anyway. To make a long story short –

“Very short,” mutters Beau.

“– I was run over by one of my exes.”

“One of your asshole exes,” Beau says. “You always forget to mention that.”

“Well, I thought the fact that he ran me over with his car made that fairly self-explanatory.”

“People are stupid. They need things spelled out for them.”

“Well, maybe you’re not –”

There is another jump cut. There are noticeably less pillows on the bed, and the ones that remain have been moved around. Beau is gazing sulkily off into the corner.

“I basically broke up with him because he started being a creep to some friends of mine,” Mollymauk says, glancing down at his nails. “And when they told me some of the things he said – well, it wasn’t exactly the most heartbreaking decision I’ve ever made. It was rather cathartic, actually.”

“And then he ran you over with a car.”

“I’m getting to that, calm down. Since Lorenzo wouldn’t stop harassing me, I decided to – well, you know what, that’s not a very internet-friendly story. Needless to say, he made the decision to cut off all contact.”

“With you,” Beau mutters. Mollymauk ignores her.

“Unfortunately, he isn’t exactly – the hamster’s dead, but the wheel’s still turning, if you know what I mean. Since I’m rather publicly affiliated with this simply charming young woman –”

“Fuck you, Molly.”

“– he decided to be rather unpleasant.”

Beau scowls. “This idiot pushed me out of the way of that car and was in a coma for a good week. Thanks, dickhead.”

“I’m so sorry for saving your life, it won’t happen next time.”

[I just cut out the next part because I had to bleep everything out, and it wasn’t worth it]

The scene cuts again. Molly is sitting in centre frame, back straight and grin wide. Beau is nowhere to be seen. The bed is a mess, with most of the pillows shoved into the corner.

“Since this devolved a little, I guess my next video will have to be the foundation one! So sorry for that, my lovely viewers, but really what you need to know is that I’m back and will once again be uploading on schedule. So long, farewell, and I’ll see you next time.”

So guys, wanna hear how the 4D Sailor Moon show at the Universal Studios Japan in Osaka was?

Well, I guess I’ll start talking whatever your answer, lol. So…

After a semi-long wait in line (to 90s Sailor Moon soundtracks, which was a nice touch), in the entrance hall they show you shadows of Luna and Artemis, whispering of mysterious dark energies in the theatre, and (quite alarmed) that Usagi is already in there on her own. You go in and Usagi appears on the screen, right before the curtains by front row, being where she’s not supposed to and getting shooed away by cinema staff. You know, classic Usagi all UAAAHHH. She’s all, but youma! And cinema staff is all, wut youma? And Usagi is all yo-something else, apologises, and stumbles off the stage. Just that cinema staff, turns out, IS the youma. And the second Usagi is out, she starts sucking on my (and everyone else’s) energy, and the seats start shaking as she shoots of rolls of film at us. Usagi runs back in - the whole place is broken up by now and we’re in space (because of course) on floating debris of used-to-be-the-cinema. Of course Usagi is the first victim and immediately gets captured on film - kinda reminiscent in its look of Nehelenia’s mirrors in the beginning of stars used to be - trapped like behind a wall of glass, just that these are hole-y 8mm-like film strips. But alas - just as the film-youma turns to us, Mercury, Mars, Jupiter and Venus appear (actually, Venus’s Love Me Chain appears first, and it comes straight at us, pretty cool) and they attack.

Mercury’s attacks here, hands down, are the coolest. When she uses her attack, we get all sprayed with water (much more affectice than the slightly warm fan directed at us when Mars fires up), and when Mercury uses her visor is looks INCREDIBLE - She gets surrounded by a holographic ring of interactive and moving information that flares out from her visor and back in and it’s quite frankly FIC INSPIRING. But Jupiter gets her moment as well, when the is-not-Morga-but-looks-like-Morga-Youma shoots sharp filmstrips at us, and they come reeeaally close except Jupiter grabs it just in time and turns back to us to reassure herself if we’re ok.

Venus (I think?) breaks Usagi out of her film prison and she transforms. This part is pretty damn gorgoeous. Bubbles come from all sides of the room as the 3D ribbons shoot to envelop her from all sides in a transformation sequence that is entirely new (and CUTE!). She uses her Moon Tiara Boomerang and it looks like the youma is gone for a second - until she’s not and now the girls are all trapped on film (again, this looks pretty cool).

Now Sailor Moon is all alone and the youma comes at her and she starts shrieking - cut in thrown rose, and Tux appears from nowhere, saying something I didn’t understand but I bet was in Haiku. Not-Morga shoots again and Tux puts himself in the line of fire - and gets injured so much, immediately, that he drops face first on the floor (and tbh, it’s so typical that the whole room started laughing).

Usagi turns back, horrified, and uses Moon Princess Halation and once again it seems Youma is dust, but is not, but Usagi manages to free the Senshi and revive Tux.

They have a couple seconds and Tux whips out a staff. The - *gasp* - Cutie Universal Rod (which of course is available for purchase, because of course, and which of course I bought, because of course…) and Tux is all USE THIS INSTEAD! So, one “Universal Moon Halation” later, Not-Morga (who turned into a giant there for a second) is gone but we’re all falling from the sky, cause the magic that held the debris in space is now gone, too. So Usagi begs us to all send her our love (via Cutie Universal Rods in the audience, and finger heart signs, which Mako-chan shows us how to do very cutely), and help her out, which we do, and it gets to her in the form of lots of floating hearts, until we all savely land back on the ground on the universal studios grounds.

Usagi sends us off as she flies away with a wink, as all the others do! (Yes, they legit do fly. It’s obviously a thing now.)

So that’s it. The 4D ride. All in japanese. It was short, but I loved it - Particularly for how on point (klutzy and brash and loud) Usagi was, barging in on things everyone thinks is eyeroll worthy but that she was right about all along, and then needing to get saved first by the girls and by Mamoru, but still saving the day anyway cause she’s a ditz but she’s also Sailor Moon and strongest of them all in the end. So yeah. It’s really pretty lovely.

Also there was Compact Cake in the cafeteria which was honestly delicious, and a whole store section filled with Sailor Moon goods. But more of that later, lol.

charmed extended trailer thoughts:

i knew less than 30 seconds in, from the moment they had the shot of macy walking past the house and Feeling Things, that she’s 90% most likely gonna be my ride or die favourite

then you go and add the fact that she’s the oldest, and the unknown half sister, and the one with telekinesis as her power, and that’s ticking all of my boxes p quickly

i feel p consistent through the whole trailer that she’s gonna be my fave and i love her already whoops

i kinda love that we see their mum die?

like, the dead mom angst was one of the strongest running emotional themes in the og charmed and in the reimagining she dies like now as opposed to twenty years ago, which just makes for even more angst and potential emotional journeys

love the house exterior

and the sets etc. they’re using for the interior have a great balance between homage to the original halliwell house, and keeping that classic aesthetic that all supernatural shows on the cw have

it’s fucking hilarious that they basically have a str8 up rupert giles knockoff british watcher character

like, is he a whitelighter? or a different thing completely?

if he’s a whitelighter can they just keep going with like...all of the whitelighters being british, and then instead of the elders living in a heavenly-type-plane they live in england instead it’d be so funny

the book of shadows prop is gorgeous

i’m liking that they seem to do incantations in latin (i think?) as opposed to rhyming english, bc in my 18 years as a charmed fan...those incantations remain one of the hokiest parts of the og show

maggie’s actress is really endearing and I’m super curious about her mind reading/thought hearing power being one of the biggest changes

not a big fan of mel’s actress in a few of the scenes, but in others she seemed v good and i like that she seems to have the prue-style storyline of The Most dead mum angst

i’m living for the “you’re not alone anymore/we’re sisters” lines bc sisters!!!!! supporting each other!!!

i hope they Surface Level accept macy as a sister really quickly but then beyond a surface level it takes ages and heaps of angst and life or death bonding until they really Truly consider her a sister bc i love angst lol

it has the trashy vibe of all cw shows, and the rough around the edges vibe of early tvd trying to find its feet, which means it will probably be really addictive and i hope people stop complaining early

the only thing i really didn’t like was that mel and maggie seem really young like high school age which i’m hoping won’t feel that way once everything is chronological and plotty, it’s just awkward bc the actresses look/are the age that american shows (esp the cw) always cast teenagers as, so we gonna need some of that in-universe context that trailers don’t do in order to make them feel like adults

i mean like, young adults in their 20s obviously, but i just don’t want them to feel like teenagers because that would be the hardest for me to wrap my head around and i didn’t feel fully comfortable watching the trailer until we saw macy in a bar drinking beer and then it was like ah, right good okay bc we finally had visual cues that they weren’t teens

one of the coolest things about this trailer is that i tweeted thoughts and predictions about it for a full 45 minutes before the concept of love interests/romance storylines even crossed my mind

as soon as it crossed my mind tho i’m like...prayin macy is the bisexual sister c’mon gimme this one, all my tru faves are bi (on a scale of izombie to odaat, what will the queer rep be like? fingers crossed)

anyway i said this awhile ago but i feel like where og charmed was better on a standout episodes/motw basis, the new charmed will probs end up being better in a long form/season arcs way

tldr: I am hype as hell and I’m getting a lot of good potential vibes from the trailer and I hope that fans will relax a little and let these latina witches do their thing bc this is a reimagining, not a remake, and if nothing else i’m sure it’s gonna be fun
