PERSONALITY:

Marcel is an easygoing man who is relaxed and laid back. He rarely gets angry and always finds a way to solve a problem. He is the breadwinner of his family and a caring person towards his loved ones. Marcel likes to spend time with his friends and his cousin Armando as he is also one of the heartthrobs of the village but his heart belongs to Leonora only. He may not be the smartest but at least he is on average. Marcel is known for being the guy who you could always count on and the friend that everyone wanted to be with. He is skilled in Arnis which he and Licia usually spar together as he learned along the way with the help of his friend's guidance. But once you get him into his bad side, he will never let you slide. Only a few people know what Marcel looks like when he's angry and it's best to keep him sane and relaxed.

BACKGROUND:

Marcel was born in Talisay, Cebu, Philippines from a low-income family. He was the only son of Nicholas and Florina Gonzalez and he felt alone and his mother couldn't bear a child anymore due to some complications. They moved to Tondo, Manila where his uncle Romulo let them stay at their second house, which was now handed to them. He and his cousin Armando don't get along that well which makes Ermelinda, his aunt, scold the two daily. He works with his parents at the farm and at the carpentry shop with Romulo and Armando to earn money at such an early age. He met Licia and her younger sister Agatha when they were spending time reading under the tree when Licia saw him getting a mango before falling on the ground, causing him to have some scars on his face due to his recklessness. Licia went to treat his wounds as Armando spotted the two together. Both cousins fight not just for their usual quarrels, but to get Licia's attention. As years pass by, he and Armando are on good terms as he befriends Javier Serrano, the son of a businessman who lives in a rich household but is a down-to-earth person. The four went to the same school as Marcel fell in love with a beautiful woman named Leonora Sanchez. He began to learn how to play the guitar with the help of his father who used to sing songs for his mother when he was courting Florina before. Marcel then goes to Leonora's house and sings love songs as a way of courting her and showing his feelings towards his soon-to-be lover. As he finished his studies and became a radio operator, he was reunited with Leonora as the two confessed their feelings and became lovebirds. When Marcel plans to marry her, the news strikes him when he finds out Leonora is being arranged with his high school rival and the son of a rich family, Ramil Belmonte who is Javier's acquaintance. Leonora doesn't like Ramil but her mother forces her to marry him, which Marcel doesn't want to cause any problems, and simply lets go of Leonora to follow her mother's wishes. Of course, it was a gut-wrenching decision as he could feel the guilt building inside him. Instead of fighting for his love, he lets that person he loves go.

He attends Leonora and Ramil's wedding, smiling a bit to see Leonora one last time before leaving the chapel. When WW2 came in, he joined the Philippine Scouts together with Armando and reunited with Javier soon after their deployment. When he heard about Licia's parents being held captive during the Bataan Death March, the three went after to look for her parents as he met Licia who was also trying to save her parents, and Agatha who became a comfort woman for the Japanese. They got separated when their plan of saving Ernesto and Lumina failed as Armando went with Licia and Marcel went with Javier. During their time in the jungle, Marcel and Javier see Leonora who is now a guerilla fighter which worries the two. He quickly goes up to Leonora, begging her to leave the Philippines for her own safety, but Leonora declines and she vows to herself that she will fight the war until her last breath. Marcel then got involved in a gunfight as he grabbed Leonora's hand and handed her to Javier, telling him to protect her while he and the other soldiers tried to repel the Japanese soldiers. As the IJA began to advance within the country, Marcel was now lost within the tropical forest where he met an American woman named Mirabelle Hawkins, a member of the US Army Nurse Corps who was seeking refuge in a nearby village outside the forest. The two stayed in an abandoned house as they hid from the Japanese soldiers. Mirabelle and Marcel began to have an exchange conversation with each other as Mirabelle felt pity for what he had been through, comforting him as she could. Her smile and sweet voice make Marcel feel like he's with Leonora, talking to him as they face this chaos together. This is where Marcel begins to have feelings for Mirabelle but he knows it will end up drastically for him so he keeps it to himself.

The two were spotted by the Japanese soldiers as they began to escape them, Marcel lost sight of Mirabelle but got reunited with Javier and his other comrades. Javier told Marcel that Leonora was in safe hands, meaning she was now with an American soldier he said that Leonora would still continue to fight until the war was over, which frustrated Marcel a bit but he calmed down soon after. Marcel found out that Armando died protecting Licia but she was later captured by the IJA as Marcel was starting to lose hope. As the years go by, Marcel becomes sick and gets fatigued while fighting the Japanese. As he was looking for an abandoned house for medicine, a portal suddenly opened and Marcel lost his balance and entered the portal. He was now inside a bunker where he saw Dr. Stefan von Hoffman and his assistant Dr. Alfred Fischer who was the one opening the portal. He also saw three men, that being Sgm. Lorenzo Beneventi, Cmdr. Elliott Rousseau, and Capt. Gavrilo Petrović. He was too sick to identify those people around him as he didn't realize that Mirabelle was there. Marcel slowly stood up while holding his rifle in a fragile manner before losing consciousness and dropping to the floor Gavrilo and Mirabelle quickly helped the unconscious lieutenant. As he was recovering from his sickness and fatigue, Stefan told him that he would need his help and the others for something crucial: Stopping Richtofen from his plans and retrieving the test subjects from his grasp. Stefan also told Marcel about a woman; implying that maybe Marcel knew about her until the doctor showed him a photo of Licia, which he quickly tells him that he knew her and is indeed her friend. As the other chosen people are being welcomed by the two German doctors, Marcel agrees to help them save Licia and go back to the Philippines together and live a normal life as the group, now called Salvatorix Crew, begins their chaotic journey into the lands of Aether.

Got surprisingly long again, so read more time!

The Captain - "Police, BITCH!" - Isn't actually the captain (that would be John, technically), still calls himself that - While on-shift his demeanor is close to that of The Captain from Every StoryTime Animation and Mokey's Show, more reserved and Shotgun's straight man. Off-shift he's a lot more goofy - Acts like he has the braincell, really doesn't - Has absolutely used "Police, BITCH!" on a suspect before - A massive flirt oh my god, and most of it is cheesy gestures and sappy pick up lines - Him pulling down his shades was him trying to flirt with Jack, John, and Patty - He's tried to flirt with Patty before and she does not care for it lol - Tried to flirt with Evermore on his first day on the job and nearly got fired - Most likely bi - Mans the tip line. It's pretty uneventful (as far as this town goes, anyway), but he's noticed that every now and then this gruff-voiced guy will anonymously call in to report child abuse cases - Oddly though, any tips related to the cult seem to go missing when he's on shift, if they're recorded at all… - Still has that grey brick of a flip phone. No he will not get a new one - Orders his contacts by name and then an emoji of something he associates with them, e.g. John 🚬, Jack 🍩, etc. -- this makes them easier to search for, in his opinion. The exception to this is Shotgun, whose contact is instead BFF ❤❤🙂 - Has ~mommy issues~ - Is the one who drives bc Shotgun would absolutely try to run over potential suspects - Shotgun is the bad bitch he pulled by being autistic /j - He is actually autistic tho! Undiagnosed, probably isn't aware he has it - His sunglasses are not only cool but hide how he's avoiding eye contact most of the time B) - Readjusts his tie constantly - If he doesn't want to deal with something he'll most likely just shoot it - His favorite donuts are plain with pink frosting and sprinkles the cliche donut lol - The guy ever, a little weird but definitely one of the more normal people in town

Shotgun Man - "SHOTGUN POW!!" - Usually just called Shotgun, Shotty, or SG/SGM - Still has the shotgun, no one knows why - I don't think he has the safety on- - Has threatened many a perp by shoving the barrel of his gun in their face - Absolute menace honestly, it's a wonder he hasn't been fired yet - Sometimes leans on his shotgun (the barrel is pointed at the floor, he's not that stupid) - Almost never refers to people by their first name, instead using titles or last names (e.g. Sheriff, Nurse, Velseb, etc.). For some reason Jerald is an exception, and Shotty will always refer to him by name - Mellows out slightly when around Captain. Slightly. - Gets control of the radio and all he plays is either heavy metal or stations no one's heard of - Probably eats at Boys n Grills - Does finger guns by putting his hands together to make a single big gun - Would get along great with Dexter - GNC AF, would wear a dress for fun - Runs on cartoon physics similar to Skid and Pump, but only when it would be funny - He has ADHD :> Unlike the others he's actually diagnosed, tho he doesn't take medication for it because of course he doesn't - "POW" is a vocal stim - When he’s feeling mischievous™ he’ll rub his hands together - Doesn't know what he is but it sure as hell ain't straight - On Valentines Day he went into the station early so he could jump Captain, Jack, and John and give them surprise smooches - However bc this is Shotty it ended up playing out like a horror movie lol - Generally just someone big on physical affection and PDA, and he loves to fluster people: slinging his arm around someone's shoulder, random hugs, kisses, that kinda thing - His favorite donuts are cake donuts and he will fight people for them - Just a silly goofy guy, I love him

Both - The cops before John and Jack were real - Braincell pecking order is Shotgun Man -> Jack -> Captain -> John - They were officers at another precinct before getting transferred, and Captain actually was the captain there - Both are still friends and in contact with Jerald (the swat guy) - Even tho Jack and John kept their jobs Evermore still hired Captain and Shotgun, if only to get the press off his back about underfunding the police - "See, they're not underfunded, I just hired two new officers!" (they are still heavily underfunded) - Really they just kinda goof around, Jack and John handle the more serious cases - When they are on a case, they're... semi-competent - They're also both shoot first, ask questions later - This isn't a hc but more so an idea, but if they show up again I want them to interact with the Hobomen, there is ample opportunity to recreate the "NOOOO, IT'S PISS!!" joke with Tankman and Shotgun and that would be so funny - Both of them realized real quick that John and Jack have feelings for each other and they are such teases about it - Captain is more subtle. Shotty, in comparison, once shouted "OH, JUST KISS ALREADY!" at the two - As for their relationship to each other… - No one can figure out what these two are to each other and they think that's hilarious - For real tho, they just like being around each other. They are a package deal, no matter what way you spin them, and they ain't gonna be separated - I like the idea that in general they're a lot more upfront and casual in their relationship, offers a nice contrast to John and Jack - This also means Captain gets the brunt of Shotty's affections! You'd think Captain would be used to it but Shotty always seems to find a new way to fluster him - Are horrible enablers to Jack's pranks, and regularly help him pull them - John is so exasperated by their antics, please save him - Dunno who came up with this initially but I got it from @mallory-vallory so: I like the idea that their actual names are Scott (Captain) and Sammy (Shotgun), feels fitting. Almost no one calls them by their actual names tho - Also there's this art by Ratzzle/Charlieratqueen on twitter of the two wearing patterned scarves during Contagious Christmas and it looks so cute so that is part of my headcanon for their winter clothes now pls and thank u - If they actually had to work with John and Jack on a case it'd be fucking chaos, good lordy - Overall they're dumbasses and bad at their jobs, but at least they get it done

I'm honestly surprised at how much I had for these guys! They're definitely not rotating as fiercely as the other cop duo, but I've still thought a lot about them, both their original and Spooky Month incarnations

I think they have great potential as a comedic foil duo to John and Jack, hope we see them again in later episodes

Before diving or sliding, check to be sure other swimmers are out of the way.

Keep rescue devices and first aid supplies nearby.

Keep electrical appliances such as radios out of the pool area.

Never swim after eating, drinking alcohol, or taking medications.

CHILDREN

According to the CDC (Centers for disease and control prevention), drowning is the number one cause of unintentional death for children between ages 1-4. So we should be sure to give extra attention to children playing in or near water, to avoid accidents and death.

Here are some simple safety tips to keep children safer around swimming pool and spa areas:

Never leave children unattended in or near water

Kids should learn to float or swim as soon as they are able.

There should be a fence at least 4 feet high around all sides of the pool with a locked gate to keep children out when there is no supervision.

Lawn furniture, trees, and shrubs should not be close enough to provide an easy boost over the fence.

Teach children what to do in case of emergency. An alarm bell that could summon help would is a good idea.

Put toys away to avoid tripping over them.

HOT TUB & SPA

Children should not be allowed in a hot tub until they can stand on the bottom and have their head completely out of the water

A safe maximum soaking temperature is 100° - 102° and for only about 15 minutes.

Hot water intensifies the effects of alcohol so consider juice or water.

Shower or bathe before entering spa to remove body oils, lotions, cosmetics and hair products.

I hauled the Loach around to hover right above the spot. Then Parker and I saw the two dark brown eyes staring up at us from a hole dug into the ground under an area of pushed-up dirt created by the Rome plow months before. Without me saying a word, Jim Parker opened up. I winced at the explosion of the M-60 right behind my head. The enemy soldier jerked violently and slumped over in his hole. I got on the radio to Sinor. “Three One, One Six. We got a dink. The gunner shot a dink dug into the grass up under a Rome plow mound, not more than ten feet off the west side of the highway. I think they're all over the place��up close, not in the jungle! They've dug in spider holes right on top of the convoy!” The head of the convoy was just seconds away at this point, heading right into an ambush. Sinor immediately called the convoy commander on FM. The minute the convoy commander got the word that the enemy was close to him, I knew he would order all convoy weapons to open up on both sides of the highway, and woe be to the Loach pilot who was out there when all that ordnance started to go off. Three One knew it too. "Get the hell out of there, One Six,” he yelled. “Get up to altitude, NOW!” But which way can I go? I thought. No time to get any altitude. And I can't go parallel to the convoy, or I'll make myself a tailor-made flank shot for every gun—ours and theirs. So I pulled the hardest right turn I could, made a 180-degree arc, and headed back south again—right on top of the northbound convoy. I figured the safest place for a Loach at that moment was five feet off the tops of those trucks, where hot rounds would least likely be crisscrossing. I barely made it on top of the convoy when all hell broke loose. The enemy, now fully alerted by Parker's shooting of the soldier in the spider hole, sprung its ambush. They pushed aside the overhead camouflage and rose up out of their holes, guns blazing. At point-blank range, they opened up into the convoy with everything they had: AK-47s, RPGs, grenades, SGMs. The column simultaneously let go with their machine guns, 90mm cannon firing canister rounds, and every other weapon carried on the vehicles in the convoy. It was like one giant, sustained explosion. Bullets flew everywhere. Deafening noise erupted. Smoke and flying debris engulfed the entire convoy. And there, in the midst of that sudden hell, were Parker and me flying at antenna level, straight down the back of the convoy, trying our best to stay out of the way of both enemy and friendly fire. As the convoy charged north, we flew south, blistering along at well over one hundred knots, Parker working with his M-60 from the right side of the aircraft. His tracers were impacting on the spider holes as we ripped past, his targets not more than ten to twenty yards from his muzzle. We were so low that if someone had reached up out of a truck or tank turret, they probably could have caught our skid. Suddenly, not more than a hundred yards to my front, a five-thousand-gallon tanker truck took a direct RPG hit, and the diesel fuel it was carrying exploded like a nuclear bomb. Sheets of flame, parts of the truck, smoke, and dust shot up, momentarily blinding me. The little OH-6 lurched violently with the shock of the explosion, as though a giant unseen fist had landed a smashing blow to the nose of the aircraft. I jerked aft as hard as I could on the cyclic and yanked in a load of collective. The resulting g's nearly sent my buttocks through the armor plate in the bottom of my seat. I don't know how Parker was able to hang on. As the fast-reacting Loach wrenched up over the eruption, I said silently, “God bless this helicopter!” then yelled to Sinor over UHF: “Three One, One Six. I'm coming up to altitude. We're OK, but that was close! You're cleared in. I'm out of the way. Hit the tree line to the west of the convoy.” The battle between Charlie and the convoy continued with ferocity. Shortly after the tanker truck exploded, a five-ton rig near the middle of the convoy was hit. It was loaded with ammunition—enough to knock everything around it off the road. Then a tank went up, its turret flying into the air fifteen to twenty feet, turning a somersault, and crashing back down. The convoy's intent was to continue moving north as fast as it could, and it managed to do just that. If a vehicle was hit, the driver made every attempt to get it off the road under its own power. If it was hit too badly to move itself out of the way, the driver behind rammed it and pushed it off. The key was to break free of the killing zone and accelerate out of the ambush area, while pumping all possible fire into the ambushers to gain fire superiority. The enemy's RPGs did the most damage. Once a vehicle was disabled with rocket fire, the automatic weapons would open up. Charlie had prepared well; he was hitting hard from a position of advantage. When the enemy had lost the element of surprise and the defenders began to gain the firepower advantage, the enemy troops usually would attempt to break contact and fade into the jungle before an organized pursuit could be launched. With this in mind, I keyed Sinor as he pulled out of his rocket and minigun run along the western line. “Three One, let's cut off the avenue of retreat. Work up some artillery and give us two brackets of artillery fire on both sides of the road running north and south. We'll pin them against the highway with no back door.” Moments later artillery began to pound down, blocking any enemy effort to disengage at the highway and make an escape to the jungle. Adding to the enemy's problems, fast movers (USAF close air support) were called in to put down bombs and napalm all along the tree line on both sides of the highway. Then the APCs that had stayed behind the convoy were poised to sweep the Rome-plowed area and mop up the ambush survivors. Parker and I had to return to Lai Khe to rearm and refuel; while we were on the ground it soon became evident that everybody out there—the armor, artillery, close air support, the Cobra—had the situation in hand. Working in close support on the flanks, they had knocked out virtually all resistance. The enemy was badly decimated and the survivors were trying to make it back to their base camps. Several hours later the ambushed convoy made it to Quan Loi. We had six or eight vehicles destroyed and many more damaged in the brief, fierce battle.
