🧵 ACNH Able Sisters Store Set 🪡

Sims 4, Base game compatible | 48 Now 51 items

(added the awning, chimney, and the stairs as a deco item with no footprint)

All the items you'll need to recreate The Able Sisters cute little shop in your TS4 game. All items came with only 1 swatch each. There are a few items that I added a couple of extra swatches for.

As always, turning the brightness down on functional lamps will make them look better (not overly bright) due to my vertex paint issue in Blender.

Type “ACNH Able” into the search query in build mode to find  quickly. You can always find items like this, just begin typing the title and it will appear.

Use the raise & lower keyboard cheat to put your already styled mannequins onto the displays. The displays have slots, but mannequins will only let you place them on the floor, and won't allow styling once they have been raised, so make sure to do that first. They only need to be raised 1-2 notches depending on which display you are placing them on.

Use the scale up & down feature on your keyboard to make the items larger or smaller to your liking. If you have a non-US keyboard, it may be different keys depending on which alphabet it uses.

IT’S DONE!!!!!

Finally finished the Archivist cardigan, ton of shit happened that delayed the making of it (I’ll talk about it when I’m ready) but it’s finally done!!!!

One of the minor details that no one's really going to notice but do give it away as a TMA cardigan are the pockets. I used some eye-conography in them and gave them a raised relief

It's not entirely visible but it is tactile

I came up with this crazy idea to give this EA dress (right), a bit of love. It's a great dress! I've used it a lot! But just like everything, it didn't really feel like it fit this day and age anymore...

Soooo I touched it up a bit! What do you think? :)

Speakeasy Bar

The fourth and final part of the Willow Creek make overs is a speakeasy bar. It is large and spreads over two floors. there is a bar area, enough tables and bar tables, a stage for a jazz or blues band, a gallery and lots of comfortable armchairs. The outdoor area also invites you to linger in the summer. So that everything colorwiseh fits together I have created a small Recolor set which complements my existing Recolors. Next to the bar is a small tailor shop with a photo studio. Nearby there is an old movie theater with two theaters. In the middle of the tree-lined square there is a modern cafe.

So I’ve been having a lot of the Organizing AuDHD lately, where I sit and obsessively sort things for just, a zillion hours

Things like 8 years worth of photos on my hard drive, all of my leather-working and sewing supplies into tackle boxes, grouping and organizing all of the paints and all of our craft closets, and sorting 2 years of CSP materials

(Aaaaand fully resorting and folding 3/10 fabric bins instead of just grabbing the fabric I needed to get started on a thing this is not remotely happening at convenient times)

And yesterday

Yesterday, I got my Granny’s old sewing cart

This thing had stuff in it older than my Granny herself

(Also a good 30% of grandma smell is sheep’s wool guess how I know now)

I’m talking packets of “hook and eye attachments” older than the brand for Velcro

So, yeah. Perfect timing. Organizing AuDHD paradise

Dragged all my sewing stuff back to the main room to redo it all again (but y’see I was smart the first time I just sorted my threads and left a space cuz I knew this lil cutie was coming)

And

Well

I promised my partner I’d clear the floors in between every time, and he has kindly offered to sort buttons for me cuz he’s also got Button Sorting ‘Tisms

(The BAGS of old buttons you guys. So. Many. Buttons.)

But. Uh. Here’s what it looked like while I was going

Featuring: my sewing box, Granny’s sewing caddy, both craft dressers, and the noble residents of Box Hell, aka every reasonably well conditioned box I have emptied for 7 years now doing duty sorting objects

(Also the paper patterns I was drafting onto broadcloth for cosplay but shhhh those are nearly done and super neat and out of the way)

And! And!

Four hours later, look!

All tidied away (for now)

I have officially sorted and rolled all of the ribbons (hers and mine)

I also discovered that that fucking massive cone of elastic does not in fact have a single fucking post in the middle there’s a tiny cardboard one that ends half way up and then it’s just a roll of PAPER

(That slid out while I unspooled about half of it to fix where the loops had been slipping off to coil it neatly again. It’s also at least two lengths of elastic but fuck it it’s in a cup now)

And! That little front drawer has been fully sorted and now holds the elastic, velcro, and zippers 😁

Most of the stuff from the main body of the caddy is at least sorted by types now, so the threads are all together and the snaps and hook and eyes all have baggies, but I haven’t touched the top two bits yet and I still gotta sort them baggies

But! I think I’ve found all the elastics and velcro and zippers! And ribbons!

And all the proper actual wool and nylons have their own bag because some of that shit feels like historical artefacts or something and I shouldn’t actually use it and just preserve it or something

It’s in really good condition and I’m a lil scared I’ll ruin it somehow and most of the ribbons are real silk and it’s just. Holy shit.

Behold the dress that kicked my ass.

After finally perfecting the empire waist dress I was of course sick of sewing it, so I went through the patterns inherited from a friend's mother (friend doesn't sew, mother was about my size and had a significant stash of projects she never got to start) and found a cute one that would do for my purposes. I should have dug out my muslin (I found muslin for $0.99/yard once 20 years or so ago and have been lauding my own wisdom in buying the bolt ever since) but instead I thoughtlessly pulled one of the fabrics from the inherited stash. Because I am smart enough to use stuff I have paid little to nothing for the first time I make a pattern.

I have never altered a dress with princess seams before.

There was absolutely no leftover fabric of that black; there wasn't even enough for the sleeves. Fortunately, I also overbuy solid colors in plain fabrics on sale and had quite a lot of a green that coincidentally match the palm trees. That button plaquet was not supposed to be a button plaquet, it was supposed to be facing, which I turned into a button plaquet when the front panels wouldn't meet across the portion of my anatomy that shakes when I laugh like a bowlful of jelly. I misjudged where and how much the flare needed to be changed to accommodate that and I couldn't think of a good way to make the scraps into a gusset to fix the problem. The button plaquet mostly solves that; but I didn't consider how much it would widen the neckline, and when my first try-on came I found myself with an off-the-shoulder dress and a really deep decolletage.

And that was when I entered one of my "what are shapes?" phases. I'm not good at rotating shapes in my head at the best of times; sometimes, I cease to be able to parse them at all. They become like numbers and make no sense. There's nothing I can do but tuck the problem into my backbrain and give it time. As usual, this method didn't fail me, and when I finally saw the leading edge of how to deal with the problem I started picking away at it one small task at a time.

This is still a shade too wide at the neckline (my hair's over my shoulders so the bra straps don't show) and there are seams that any seamstress as good as people think you need to be to make your own clothes would not tolerate for a second - but I happen to be a crappy seamstress who makes her own clothes anyway, and today I reached the point at which I could say: "That'll have to do; hem the thing."

I can't be said to have learned the pattern, either, due to the jiggerpokery with the facing/plaquet. Next time (which will not be tomorrow! Or even next month.) I will definitely call on my faithful cheap muslin. But it actually is kind of cute, and if I can learn to alter princess seams to my shape properly - well, that's a whole new world, isn't it?

Anyway, consider this encouragement to do any project you think you're not good enough to do, and to see it through. Whatever it is. If I can do it, you certainly can.
