Soy Luna - S01
I decided not to separate the first season of Soy Luna into two parts, since most mentionable things happen in the second part of the first season.
I think the first season was great. The story is really interesting; something is always going on; it's never boring. Everybody's storyline is intriguing for their own reasons, and I wouldn't say any of them is particularly boring. I like that while the roller is the main place where most things are happening, we all see them living their lives outside that. We see them go to school and work; it feels really realistic. Yeah, they spend the majority of their time in the Roller, but that's normal because the whole series revolves around skating. I think the second part, from episode 41 to 80, was more interesting and filled with drama.
Let's talk about the characters now:
Luna: She is such a lovely girl, and I really love how passionate she is about things. I really like that she is always trying to remain a good, bigger person. I really like that no matter how many times she falls, she always stands up, and she keeps going, which is an amazing trait to popularize. I love how positive she is and that she never gives up. I love the way she encourages people and that she always sees the best in people.
However, her clumsiness is a bit annoying after a while. I liked that she is not this perfectly organized person, but sometimes it's a bit too much how she forgets almost everything. It was cute for a bit, but it was quite annoying that some of the bad things that happened to her were possible because she left her stuff at the worst places. Obviously, people trying to harm her or ruin her dreams was never her fault, but again, at the same time, it was a bit annoying.
I really liked their friendship with Simon. They are really great friends, and they are always there for each other. I understood her when she couldn't decide what she felt about him, especially after being friends for so many years, and I also understood that she was a bit confused, but I don't think she should've gotten together with Simon. I don't think she's ever had feelings for him; I think she was afraid that she would lose him, so she wanted to give it a try. But I think we all knew all along that she never really had any romantic feelings for him.
I think it was clear that she liked Matteo and he liked her as well, but I like that she isn't trying to get closer to him because he is taken. There are a few questionable moments, though, when they clearly both overstepped, but I think she tried her best to not get too involved when he was still with Ambar. I think they are a cute couple, and I was really happy they kind of got together in the very end; however, it was a bit too much waiting and build-up. The kiss that happened in the middle of the season was kind of weird as well; I mean, Matteo kissed him without her consent, but at the same time, she liked him as well, so it's a bit of a conflicting situation.
It was also so annoying how she always believed Ambar. People told her multiple times (especially Nina) that she was behind most of the bad things that happened to her, but she always thought that it couldn't be her when it was so obvious. I understand why she believed her in the very beginning, but after so many questionable things, I don't understand why she still believes her.
I think they are really great friends with Nina, and they were always so good for each other. I'm glad they focused so much on that relationship because it was so good to see them become besties.
All in all, I like her character, and I do think she is a really good person. I think she is one of the least toxic main characters.
Simon: I think he is a nice guy; he is a really great friend for Luna. I think it's quite easy to tell from the very beginning that he is in love with Luna. I love how great a friend he is, not just when it comes to Luna, but also when it comes to his other friends. He is such a loyal one, and it was so incredibly sweet how he moved to Argentina just to be with Luna.
I think it's easier to say bad things about his personality in the other half of the first season. I think he is really great in the first half of it. It was really brave of him to tell Luna he is in love with her, and I'm glad he did it, especially since he wasn't capable of being only her friend anymore. However, I have to say he didn't really handle that situation well. I think it was more than normal that Luna was confused since she had never thought about him like that before. It seemed like he wanted an immediate answer, but it must have been such a huge surprise for her. I mean, yeah, people (mostly Nina and Matteo) implied that he has feelings for her, but she never really believed them, for obvious reasons. She was also in the middle of the whole skating race thing. I think the timing wasn't the best. And I have to mention that his behavior afterwards was really questionable as well. So he wanted to leave Argentina and go back to Mexico after realizing that Luna didn't reciprocate her feelings, and it kind of had a bit of an emotional manipulation feeling to it. Yeah, obviously I get that he felt like he couldn't stay close to Luna after everything, but I don't know... It kind of felt as if he wanted to make her feel bad, or as if the only way she could've made him stay was if she got into something she didn't want. The way he treated Luna while he was in a relationship with Daniela was also really painful to watch. Like, to this day I can't understand why he didn't trust her. Like, why would she have lied about everything? She said it several times that she wants him to be happy, but the only thing he heard was that she is jealous because he isn't spending as much time with her as he used to. There were so many red flags as well, and other people made comments about Daniela as well, but he still believed her.
However, I really loved that when he realized that she didn't feel the same way about him, he broke up with her, because he loved her way too much to see her unhappy. He would rather let her go to see her happy, even if it was with someone else, which shows how much he loves her and that he is mature.
All in all, I think he is a great character who was a bit annoying and toxic in the second part of the first season, but he was an amazing friend in the first season, and I really liked how he owned up to his mistakes. He is a great guy and a great friend, and he truly loved Luna. He is a good character.
Matteo: I have a really hard time deciding what to think about him. He is such a charming guy, and while he is a bit self-absorbed, he does it with such ease without actually hurting anyone, and to be honest he isn't as selfish as most people like to present him. He is a really complex character, and I do think he is not a bad person, but he's made a few really questionable decisions.
I never really understood why they were together with Ambar. Like, I get that they are the two best skaters, but I don't think they are compatible, and I doubt they were ever in love with each other. As I said before, Matteo is also a bit selfish and self-absorbed, but he doesn't try to ruin other people's lives to stay on top. I think he made the right choice when he broke up with her after what she did to Luna and Simon. However, I didn't like how he was clearly pursuing and flirting with Luna while he was still dating Ambar. It wasn't right, and he clearly had feelings for her since the very beginning. In his defense, I don't think he realized that until later. But it still wasn't right, and he shouldn't have acted that way. I also didn't really understand why he wanted to get back together with Ambar when he was clearly in love with Luna, just because she got together with Simon. I think that was a big mistake.
He wasn't always the nicest with Simon. He kind of came around at the end, but in the beginning he was sometimes really mean to him. I guess it was because he'd already had feelings for Luna, but he still could've been nicer.
I think he actually changed a lot by the end of the first season, which I really liked. I think he changed the most, and it was great to see how the love he felt for Luna and Luna herself changed him.
Ambar: What a character. She is really pretty and beautiful and a good skater. I also have to give it to her that she is really good at manipulating people and making it look like she is innocent, especially when it comes to Luna.
But I can't say she is a good person. I know she is very complex, and the reason why she acts like this is mostly Sharon's fault, who never really cared about her and kept saying the same bullshit to her. She wants to be the best, which is normal, and there's nothing wrong with that, but she is trying to do so by hurting others and "eliminating" them. She didn't just manipulate people and tell them lies, but she also tried to hurt them physically. Like when she made Luna fall by doing something to the skate she was using. She took it too far several times and caused a lot of damage.
But at the same time, I feel sorry for her. Not just because of Sharon, but also because of Matteo and Luna. While I don't think they were actually in love with Matteo and she tried to manipulate him as well, as I said before, I don't think Matteo was right. He should've broken up with her before pursuing Luna. And while I don't agree with what Ambar did to Luna, I can imagine how bad she was feeling when it seemed like Luna was taking everything from her: her role in the Roller, her boyfriend. And combining that with Sharon's influence on her... It was the perfect recipe for disaster.
All in all, she is also a complex character, but she was a bit too much for me. I know she will become a better person, which I can't wait to happen.
Nina and Gaston are great; I couldn't wait for them to get together. Sharon is probably the worst character; I really disliked her. Luna's parents are great. Jazmin is so funny; I really enjoy her character. Jim, Yam, and Ramiro are great as well, sometimes a bit annoying. Cato and Tino are really funny, but sometimes they are a bit too much. And I really love Tamara. She is such a lovely woman and so supportive.
Great season, I really enjoyed it.

I enjoy when Leonetta have "spicy" moments. I actually love it. But with lutteo it's just creepy for some reason. Even though I know the actors in Violetta also had a big gap somehow their bond behind the scenes makes it a lot less weird

It's hard to believe there's going to be new Soy Luna content. The actors all seemed to have moved on from it.
I knew Karol and Michael and I believe Pasquale too were going to reunite on Karol' Luminova tour but a Soy Luna 4. I couldn't have thought that.

Leonetta or Lutteo - Which couple is more toxic? part 1. (FIRST SEASON)
I don't even need to think about this; Leonetta is more toxic, hands down. But let's talk about why I think that and do a season-by-season breakdown.
There are a few similar things that happen in both shows, like how Leon wants to get Violetta to take revenge on Tomas and Matteo's and Gaston's bet of Matteo needing to get Luna to go on a date with him. I, however, think that Matteo's case is a bit different since even before that, we already could see that he has feelings for Luna, while Leon develops feelings after the whole conversation with Andres happens. Leon only wants to get closer to Vilu at first, because he is mad at Tomas for trying to seduce his girlfriend, and since he thinks Vilu is Tomas's girlfriend, he wants to take revenge on him by stealing her. I don't really like this; it's not even true, but even if it was, Vilu has nothing to do with that, and it is actually Leon's girlfriend Ludmila who starts pursuing Tomas, not the other way around. Yeah, later he falls in love with her, but it doesn't change the fact that at first he only wants to get together with her to take revenge on Tomas, while having a girlfriend.
The "who knows how consensual first kiss" happens in both shows as well. Here it's a bit harder to tell which one was more consensual since Violetta has already admitted by that point that she has feelings for Leon, and while we all kinda know Luna has feelings for Matteo as well, she hasn't confessed those feelings yet. On the other hand, Luna's eyes at least aren't closed when the kiss happens, so she can see what Matteo is about to do, and Leon very well knows Violetta still has feelings for Tomas even though he is leaving, so it could come across as making sure she stays with him since he was her first kiss. It kind of feels like he is trying to manipulate her into choosing him because he was her first kiss. Both of them do it out of love; Matteo later admits that he kissed her because he already liked her (obviously) and probably didn't admit it to Luna because she seems angry. Neither of them recoils at least, but let's just say neither of those kisses was the best choice.
The ex-girlfriend plotline is also in both first seasons, but at least Leon and Ludmila have broken up at the very beginning of the first season, before Leon and Violetta start getting to know each other on a deeper level. Obviously one of the reasons why they decide to break up is because they are both already pretty much in love with someone else, but Matteo flirting and kinda pursuing Luna while being in a relationship with Ambar is so wrong. We could argue that their relationship, just like Leon's and Ludmila's, was never real, since I don't think either of them loved each other. Matteo and Ambar dated because they are both popular and good skaters; that's it. But it was still wrong. I also have to mention here that both Ludmila and Leon start pursuing and flirting with someone else before they break up. Leon tries to ask Vilu out and get closer to her just to get revenge on Tomas, but then catches feelings. Ludmila has been after Tomas at that point for who knows how long, but at least the break up, much sooner than Matteo and Ambar so I have to give props to Leon here, especially since Leon and Ludmila never get back together while Matteo and Ambar do, not even once, and both of those happen mostly because of Matteo. He is the one who tries to win her back. Yeah, Ambar wants him back as well, and not because she is deeply in love with him but because he is the popular guy. But at least she isn't already in love with someone else like Matteo. I don't really agree with what he is doing during those episodes, and I get he probably doesn't want to be alone, but this isn't the best way to go about it. It's an asshole thing to do to make her believe you want her back when in reality you don't. Or does Matteo think that he could make that work? It seems like he kind of does. But I still think it is a huge mistake he makes there and really unfair to Ambar. But I also have to mention that Ambar manipulates him as well. See, Ambar has zero knowledge whether Luna actually likes Simon or not, and the only reason why she says it with so much confidence is because she doesn't want Matteo and Luna together, and she also doesn't want to get back together with him because she is so in love. And one of the reasons why Matteo wants to get back together with Ambar (other than Luna dating Simon) is because of the things she says about Sharon and other family things. Yeah, she tells him the truth (she exaggerates a bit, though, to make him feel really sorry for her). Obviously, this doesn't mean Matteo should get back together, but I think it's important to note that one of the reasons is Ambar manipulation. I also want to mention here that Ruggero (who plays Matteo) himself confirmed it in an interview that Matteo is indeed confused, because he has feelings for Luna, but at the same time for Ambar as well. So maybe it's indeed not just him not being brave enough to leave Amar but also being confused and being able to decide what he feels for Luna. It seems obvious to us viewers, but who knows. I guess the same goes for Luna. This, obviously, doesn't excuse his behavior.
Now let's talk about the couples individually...
I love, however, how much Matteo cares about Luna. He truly likes her, and we can already see in this season how he puts her before himself. Like when Luna asks him to join Ambar's team because she doesn't want more trouble. He doesn't want that, but he does it for her. "Siento" is a beautifully written song, and I love it so, so much. I also love how he doesn't sing that song for her in front of everyone. He wants that moment to just be theirs. He doesn't do it for attention or to get claps; he just wants her to listen.
Having said that, I think he is a bit mean to Luna after he finds out they are together with Simon. I get that he is jealous, and he probably thought Luna had feelings for him, and he is kind of right. I mean, I guess he is trying to avoid her, but when he can't, he isn't the nicest. I guess he realizes that, and when Luna asks him, he tells her he is just nervous and tries to tell her that it's not on her. I get how hard it is for him, but that's not the way. I also don't really like how he gets mad at her because she doesn't want to tell him and Gaston who Felicity is, but at the same time, I get him, since it must be hard to watch his best friend suffering from not being able to be with someone he wants to. However, he kind of redeems himself when he tells Jim and Yam that she is not going to tell them anything, because she has promised her, not even if they keep insisting. I really like how he tries to help her out there.
And here I also have to mention that I don't think what Luna does with Simon is right as well. I don't think she is confused, and I don't think she thinks something is off. She very well knows she doesn't feel the same way about him as she does about Matteo. I think she simply just doesn't want to lose her friends and is worried that if she isn't in a relationship with him, he's going to leave or they won't be friends anymore. I get why she is concerned, but this isn't the right way to go about it. Simon is really, really in love with her, and she is giving him false hope and hurting him every single time she looks with love in her eyes at Matteo. But Simon isn't that correct with her as well. The whole "I'm going back to Mexico, because you don't love me back" thing is similar to Ambar manipulating Matteo. I guess at least he doesn't do it on purpose like Ambar, and he kind of redeems himself, but here, just like in Matteo's case, one of the reasons why Luna gets together with Simon is because she doesn't want to lose him, and she thinks that's going to happen if she doesn't start a relationship with him.
Then we also get a scene where Matteo talks to Gaston about Ambar, and that it's just not working anymore. This makes me think he truly thought when they got back together that it could work out, and they could still be together. Similar to Luna, who thought when they started a relationship with Simon that it could work out for them. I think Ambar got into both of their heads, making them believe that they are too different to be together. Making Matteo believe that Luna is actually in love with Simon and making Luna believe that Matteo would never be with someone like her. But when it comes to Matteo himself, he says that he's changed a lot and doesn't agree with everything Ambar does or says anymore, and that she's also changed a lot. Which is funny considering him flirting with Luna didn't help her case at all, but I think it's also important to mention that while that plays a part in why Ambar hates Luna, I don't think that's the only or the main reason. She being jealous of her family and Luna "stealing" her place on the roller team probably bothers her way too much. But Matteo is part of the problem as well. And we can see that Matteo does some bad and mean stuff in the second season to achieve his goal, but they are nowhere near as bad as trying to make Luna fall or getting fired from the team. I like, however, how much he's changed. I'm not happy they ruined his arc in the second season, but I think it was necessary, and it's much more realistic than him just changing in a few weeks.
What I really like here, though, I really do, is that the two boys don't start shittalking each other in front of Luna. Yeah, Matteo (and later in the season Simon as well) love messing with each other, but neither Matteo nor Simon starts with the whole "he isn't good enough for you," "you should rather be with me," and "he is such a bad person" thing. Obviously, this whole situation is a bit different from the Leonetta/Tomletta one, but still. Sometimes they even say nice things to each other, like when Simon says he is a good skater, and Matteo says the same thing about Simon to Gaston. Luna is not even around, so it's not like they do it for her, to appeal to her or something. They aren't friends, and sometimes they mess with each other, but it never gets physical, and sometimes they are even nice to each other. We can kind of say they at least respect each other. Not always, but sometimes.
I also really like how he comforts her after the breakup happens. It's so nice to see how he actually worries about her, hugs her, and makes her sure he is there for her. He lets her know she isn't alone and she can count on him. It's nice to see how genuinely he cares about her and how he tries to make her smile because he doesn't want to see her suffer. He is obviously happy this whole thing has happened because he is in love with Luna, but he doesn't try to turn it into his moment, like trying to create a "I told you" scene, immediately ask her out, turn her against Simon, or something else (unlike Leon). He is worried about her, and her well-being is the most important thing for him in that moment.
I also really like how he helps her with her school assignment. It's really nice of him and once again shows that he really wants to be there for her. I don't know how I feel about the whole "I will do this for you if you do this for me" thing when it comes to him. Props to him that he says that whether she sings with him or not, he's going to help her, and I do think he means it. I do think that Luna is right when she says that he shouldn't offer his help if he wants something in return. It's great to see that he is letting this type of thing go, and he has helped her several times already, so I don't think he truly wants something in return, but it comes across as a bit manipulative. But at least he helps her even if she doesn't want to return the favor.
I also really love how he stays up all night just to help Luna out with her assignment. It shows he truly cares about her and wants to help her out. The same goes for the whole Ramiro, Jim situation. He is there for her, trying to help her and the team out as well. It's also really great and interesting to see that he shares his concerns about the next year and about the fact he doesn't know what's gonna happen. You can see that he truly worries about his future, and this is good foreshadowing, since we all can see how his concerns kind of come true. Even though he comes back in the second season, he does it while knowing he will have to leave for Oxford. But I love to see how he is capable of talking about his feelings and worries openly with Luna.
He tells Gaston that he doesn't care about other girls, that he doesn't want to meet anyone else, because there is only one girl in his heart. I also really love his conversation with Yam; it just again shows how much he's changed, and I love how he kind of quotes Luna. Telling Yam that one of the things he's learnt from her is that nothing is impossible. They also offer her their help and tell her that it's not important whether they win or lose; trying is the most important. I just love to see Luna's influence on him and how much he's changed. He is truly becoming a better person for her, and in the later season, for himself as well. I love how much she helps Luna with her assignment and that he wants to stay in the Roller all night to help her, and his words when he talks about the moon (aka Luna). He is just so sweet and so in love with her. And I also love how he tells her, without any filters, how much Luna helped her and everything she's taught him so far. Then Luna kinda ditches him, which I don't really get why. I mean, I kind of understand it, but I think from the signs Matteo thought she felt something for him as well, which is true; she does. But I understand him, why he can't just be her friend, and why he is disappointed. I also like that despite what happened, he doesn't get mad at Luna or start being mean to her. He is still being nice and flirty, I guess, and doesn't turn into an asshole.
I know some people don't really understand why he started pursuing her if he doesn't know if he's going to go back to Argentina after the summer or not, but I don't really get them. First of all, he doesn't know what's going to happen, so should he not be with someone he loves and someone who loves him as well, just because of something that might not happen?
Then we see Gatson and Matteo talk, where Matteo says that he needs to leave sooner because of his father's meeting. Here we can clearly see how much this affects Matteo, how sad he is, and how tired of this whole thing he is. We find out that this is how it usually goes; he doesn't know when he leaves or when he goes, or even if he will ever come back or not. I can't imagine how much this affects him and how hard this must be for him. I really love how this foreshadows one of the problems in the next season. I truly feel sorry for him, because he clearly lacked a safe spot in his life, a home, and when he finally finds it, they want to take it from him. And every single time he mentions this whole thing, my heart breaks a little for him. I can't even imagine how hard this constant coming and going must be for him. Especially this time, considering he fell in love with someone, and he obviously doesn't want to just leave Luna or for her to get hurt because of that. Obviously, this doesn't justify his actions in the next season, but I feel bad for him, and I think the fact he constantly needed to move truly traumatized him. I really like how they constantly foreshadow here one of the main problems in the second season, so it doesn't just come out of nowhere.
The season ends with Luna and Matteo kissing, which is really a cute scene. I love how Luna finally admits that she loves him and that they don't want to lose each other. I also really like how he tells her how she's changed him and his life.
I'm sad they ruined their arc in the second one, but I think it was needed for them to become healthier individuals, especially Matteo. And while they aren't the healthiest in the first season, I think Leon and Violetta are worse.
So I already talked about how Leon starts pursuing Vilu at first solely because he wants to take revenge. Leon saves him from some skateboarders, and this idea births in him, which he then tells to Andres. So his plan is basically to steal her from Tomas, to whom he is mad at because of Ludmila, while it's actually her. And this is a constant thing with Leon throughout the whole show that he usually gets mad at the wrong person. He is really mad at Tomas here, while it's actually his girlfriend who tries to seduce Tomas, who doesn't want anything from Ludmila. He also gets mad at Tomas (many more times than at Violetta) when he finds them together. Yeah, later on he also calls out both girls, but it's always Tomas. He is the enemy, when in reality both girls are just as faulty.
Then Leon tries to ask her out to drink a smoothie, but she says no, and he decides to bring it to her, but Ludmila doesn't let that happen. She then sends an email to Vilu, which says that there will be a costume party in the school, so she goes to the studio dressed up as an angel. I have to say that it's really nice of Leon how he compliments her and how he stands up for her (and he goes on doing that multiple times). It's such a sweet moment; I love how he is helping her and walks her home.
I also really love that when he realizes that he has feelings for Vilu, he goes and breaks up with Ludmila. He doesn't hesitate or think; he just does it. This is a much better approach and a much more respectful one. I guess Ludmila makes his life a bit easier than Ambar. She doesn't want to get back together with him as well (only around the end) or tries to manipulate him into thinking Vilu likes someone else (probably because the other person Vilu likes is someone she wants as well). But I do think Leon did this better, much better.
But what he doesn't do better is that he is incredibly pushy. He keeps asking her out, tries to kiss her, tells Tomas they are dating when in reality they aren't, and to back off, while knowing Vilu still has feelings for her. He is trying to get with telling Tomas off, but even if he keeps his distance, it doesn't mean she's going to end up with him. Or should I rather say that it shouldn't mean that, but it seems like for Vilu it does? It's either of them. So if she can't be with Tomas, Leon is going to be fine, which is a really toxic way of thinking.
Then when Violetta gets into the Studio, Leon congratulates her, but only after he destroys the flowers Tomas bought for Violetta. And that scene is just so...I don't even know how to phrase it, and I've never been a Tomas fan, but I feel bad for him every single time I see that scene. He plays dirty, so dirty. And I get that he wants Violetta, but these things are just so unnecessarily bad. Again, I was never a Tomas fan, but every single time I watch that scene, I get so mad at Leon.
Then he starts gaslighting Violetta. He says that he can't force anything, and for him it's enough if she realizes that Tomas is a bad person, which is such a lie. He doesn't even know Tomas, and he keeps telling her lies about him, while pretending that he is doing it to protect her, when in reality he is trying to manipulate her into choosing him. He doesn't want anything else than winning her over. He constantly gets angry at her because she is around Tomas even when they aren't even together, fully knowing she has feelings for him, because she's admitted it several times to him. Then he asks her out as friends, and she says yes. But then she says it to Tomas that they are on a date, just because she sees him with Ludmila. This isn't the last time it happens, and it doesn't really seem fair of her. At least Leon doesn't hear her saying it this time, but he will the next time.
The scene where he helps her sing in front of everyone is really nice. He helps her fight off her stage fright, which is sweet of him. And I kinda hope he doesn't just do it to prove it to her that the reason why she can sing is because she feels passionate about it, not because of Tomas. I really like when he says that he wants to help her achieve all of her dreams, and it's just a sweet moment in general. Then he tries to kiss Violetta, but she doesn't want that to happen. And even though he apologizes, later on he goes and tells Tomas to back off because they are dating. He obviously tries to just make Tomas stay away from her.
After Violetta gets into the Studio, she gets paired with Leon on an assignment where they need to perform a song together. Now the problem is that Vilu doesn't feel the song when he sings it with Leon, only when she sings with Tomas. Leon, since the very beginning, has been trying to prove to her that the reason she can sing is not because of Tomas but because of the passion she feels. And after a while, it just gets annoying. Maybe it wouldn't if he did so solely because he wants what's the best for her, but it's not true, or at least not entirely. He wants her to choose him. He wants to prove that she doesn't need him. He doesn't want what's best for her; he wants her to be with him. And why does he feel entitled to decide something like this for her? If she can sing well because of her feelings for Tomas, let her be. If she was able to sing well, because of her feelings for him, he wouldn't care. And this "I don't want to say I told you so" is so annoying.
I really love the scene where he teaches her how to ride a bike. They are really sweet during that, and it looks like they are having a good time. Then Violetta meets Tomas in the studio and agrees to go on a date with him. Leon obviously overhears it, doesn't like it, and gets upset since they just spent the whole day together. And I kind of understand him; I assume he thought it meant something for her as well, and that she is now over Tomas. But at the same time she's told him several times what she feels for Tomas, and she's rejected him several times as well. I get that he is hurt, but at the same time, I think Vilu (at least during this time) doesn't give him any mixed signals and is really honest with him when it comes to Tomas. Vilu then confesses to him that she indeed has feelings for him as well and that she is confused because she doesn't know how that is even possible. Leon, the next day, asks her if they can spend the afternoon together, but she tells him that she has her date with Tomas. He then responds by saying that he knows that at the end she will be with her. And while I always loved how much Leon loves Violetta, his words and that he never gives up on her, these comments of his…I don't know. It makes him so unlikable and unsympathetic.
Then they perform their song together, and she is capable of singing with feelings with him as well. And this is where the whole "he doesn't do it for her" thing makes sense. He tells her that after their performance, she can't deny it anymore that she has feelings for him as well. Him saying this proves that he wasn't saying the whole "you can sing well because of the passion you feel" thing to help her, but only because he doesn't want her to think it's because of Tomas, to make her choose him. Because this time, when the whole singing with feelings thing would mean she also has feelings for him, he is suddenly okay with it. Looking back at it, it is crazy how he is constantly manipulating and gaslighting her.
Then Leon wants Violetta to choose between the two of them, and then she tells him that he was right and it's about the passion, not with whom she sings. She also tells him that she chooses neither of them. This could've been a cool twist, but unfortunately this doesn't last too long. Leon then agrees to Ludmila's plan, and they record a video where Leon gives a lollipop to Vilu and hugs her, making it look like as if they were a couple. Leon then regrets the whole thing and tries to talk Ludmila out of the whole thing, but she just uploads it. I really like here that he's changed his mind and realized it was a mistake. This is probably the only time where we can see him regretting playing dirty, which I appreciate. I think he wanted that moment to be true, not just for the plays but deep down knew it wasn't the romantic moment they tried to show off with the video.
Tomas obviously sees the video, and then when he sees them together, he asks Vilu if she's going to deny it again, that they are together. Vilu then tells him solely out of spite that they are actually together. I don't know why she is mad at Tomas here; then she proceeds to do the very same thing with Ludmila and him. It is also unfair to Leon, who clearly has feelings for her and now probably thinks something can happen between them, which is obviously not the case. Then Vilu confides in him with the whole studio thing, which is a sweet moment, considering he is the first person to whom she tells this. But none of this matters, because Vilu then agrees to go on a date with Tomas. Again. So the whole "Yeah, we are together" thing was so unnecessary, and while I'm not the biggest fan of either of the guys, it's not right what she does with them. She is playing with their feelings. I get that she is confused, but then don't tell Tomas in front of Leon that you are with Leon and then agree to go on a date with Tomas. Don't get involved with either guy if you can't decide what you want.
Leon is obviously not happy about the whole date thing and tells Vilu that he's gonna just hurt him again. It's really nice of him how he comforts her after he hears about the fact that Tomas is gonna move back to Spain, but then he ruins it with the whole "I told you so" thing. Like, I'm not the biggest fan, but it's not his fault he needs to move back to Spain because of his father. Vilu then tells Leon that since Tomas is leaving, he doesn't want to be with him. She kind of made it look like it was her choice, but in reality it wasn't. Tomas told her that he doesn't want to be with her like this, because it wouldn't be fair. So she technically didn't choose Leon. Leon then tells her that he is getting too excited since he's been there, which is kind of true. I don't remember Vilu ever saying out loud that she chooses him, but I do think that Vilu has definitely given him false hopes. He also says that he wants her to prove her feelings for him. This sentence rubs me the wrong way. I get that he has a hard time trusting her, and he has his reasons, but "prove me your feelings to me" sounds so weird, especially that after this he kisses her in the park. After the kiss, when Vilu asks him why he did that, he tells her that they've done enough talking and that they did something. I already talked about the kiss and about the consensuality of it. But even if we take that out of the equation, his "prove me your feelings" and the whole Tomas thing make it seem like he did it to make sure she will stay with him because he was her first kiss. After all, it's a cute scene, how he tells her to close her eyes and imagine the most beautiful place, but I can't see past the whole thing (just like when it comes to Lutteo's first kiss, but at least the whole proving and manipulations part isn't present there).
But this obviously doesn't make Vilu not care about Tomas, so she asks her father if he could give his father a job in Argentina so he could stay. Which is weird because this clearly means that he wants him to stay so they could be together, since the only reason they aren't together right now is because Tomas doesn't want to be with her because he will move back to Spain. Let's be honest: if she was so sure about Leon, she wouldn't be doing this. Ludmila, however, overhears it and steals her idea. Tomas isn't so nice to her when Vilu tells him that his father can stay, because he thinks Vilu was the one who stole the idea. Then he asks Violetta why she wants to be on good terms with him if she is with Leon. And I kind of see his point. Obviously, just because she is with someone, which mostly only happened because he said that they shouldn't be together, they can be on good terms. However, at the same time, I understand him. Just because of what Tomas said to her, she could've just stayed single, but no, she decided to get together with Leon, and her trying to help her kind of ex to stay is a weird thing to do. Both Tomas and Leon love her, and no matter which guy she chooses, the other will be disappointed, and yeah, the two of you won't stay friends, especially after how you played with their feelings.
Then we get a cute scene when Leon plays along with the whole Angie thing. Lying is obviously not the best thing, but it's nice of him that he doesn't unveil the truth. Obviously it's not his job, but since he knows how much this whole thing means to Vilu, he is willing to support her in everything. I don't understand why he started singing, though, but I assume that Vilu didn't tell him the no singing rule. Their little conversation in the studio is cute as well. Vilu compliments his piano playing, and he says that he likes her, that he has written Voy Por Ti for her, and that it only makes sense when she sings it. Jade then finds out that Violetta goes to the studio, and even though Leon tries to cover for her, Jade doesn't buy it. But it's nice to see that he is there for her and makes her feel better about the situation. Then Vilu confesses to Tomas that she has feelings for both him and Leon, which Leon obviously overhears. She even kisses his cheek. So just as i said before her getting together with Leon, or Leon trying to her to himself with that kiss was so unecessary. Violetta still doesn't know what she wants. She never knew. The only reason why she got together with Leon was because Tomas didn't want to be with her. The whole situation is just not fair. Then surprise, surprise, Leon goes to Tomas, not Violetta, and tells him to back off. I don't really understand why he does that, considering that even if Tomas stays away from her, that doesn't mean she will as well or that she will just simply forget about him. It's your girlfriend, dear Leon, who isn't able to make up her mind and keeps playing with your feelings. He then goes and actually confronts Violetta, who tells him that she chooses him. We've all been there once, and we all saw how that ended. She can't decide, and rather than trying to stay alone and figure out what she wants, she constantly assures Leon with a lie, with something she doesn't even believe herself.
Then Tomas and Leon get paired up on an assignment, and during a fight he pushed Tomas to the ground. I hate when somebody is being aggressive, especially when Tomas did nothing wrong in that scene. His words definitely weren't that bad. If he had done the same thing when Diego kissed Violetta without her consent, maybe then I could see past it, but not there. It still shocks me every single time when it happens. And yeah, sometimes Matteo and Simon have intense arguments as well, but they never once hurt each other physically, and Matteo (the same goes for Simon) never actually gives a sign that they would do that, not even when Luna is not around. Yeah, sometimes Simon gets way too angry and let Matteo get to him, but again, they never get physical.
Then we get a new character, Broudey, who is obviously in love with Violetta as well. We can see Vilu and him having a conversation when Leon gets to the scene and gets a bit too possessive over Vilu. This exactly shows the never-ending problem in their relationship: trust issues. Leon can't trust Violetta due to the Tomas situation. Every single time someone tries to flirt with her or something like that, he gets jealous and overprotective. Then Leon finds out about the song Vilu has written (Habla Si Puedes). When they talk about Vilu, she tells him that that song talks about her doubts, not about the things she is sure of. This feels like gaslighting as well. She isn't sure in anything or anyone; if she was, she wouldn't have written that song. She knows this. She keeps reassuring Leon that she is sure that she wants to stay with him, but that's a lie. Then during the assignment, she keeps seeing Tomas singing her the song he wrote about her to Leon. And she keeps saying she is having feelings for both of them, then that she is sure that she wants to be with Leon, but to be honest, it seems like she actually wants to be with Tomas, and she knows that. Why she keeps deceiving herself and Leon is beyond me.
Then we get to the costume party, where she dresses up as Ludmila, just to prove a point. You see, she thinks that Tomas and Ludmila are actually together (because she saw them kissing, but it actually wasn't Tomas but Andres), but he just denies it (who knows why she thinks he would do that), so she takes Ludmila's costume to prove she is right. She says she is bothered by this because Tomas has been lying to her, and he is the exact same person who would go after Ludmila. But why does she actually care? If he wants to be Ludmi, let him be. You chose Leon, right? You said you were so sure in him, didn't you? He called Tomas out for the same thing, but it's okay when she does it. She then goes back to the party dressed up in Ludmila's costume and gets closer to Tomas, who almost kisses her. Tomas immediately recognizes Vilu and tries to kiss her, and she seems completely okay with it, which is wild considering they both know she is dating someone else, but then the kiss doesn't happen. Ludmila obviously recorded this and when Leon sees it and breaks up with her. I'm glad he did it. What she did was unforgivable. She is trying to save herself with made-up excuses, but again, nothing can excuse her behavior.
Not so long after the breakup, Vilu gets a note, and she assumes it's from Leon. Tomas gets a similar one, thinking it's from Vilu. But both of those are from Ludmi, who then goes and tells Leon, Vilu, and Tomas they will meet up. He goes there and finds them together. Vilu tries to explain the situation, but Leon doesn't believe her, who then doesn't understand why he doesn't believe her, which is weird to be. Why would he after everything? Then Vilu tries to reconcile, but Leon just doesn't want to do that, which I understand, and to be honest, I'm glad he is standing his ground. But then Vilu writes the best email of the year, and they are back together. But obviously Violetta just can't stop herself from being close to Tomas. They have a conversation about this, where Vilu says that she just sees Tomas as a friend, which is obviously a lie. I just can't believe she keeps lying to him about the whole Tomas thing. She also says that they agreed to stay friends because they don't want to be together, which is another lie. They obviously still have feelings for each other. But the next day they kind of find themselves in a weird situation where they are holding the same water bottle with their hands. Leon gets mad, and then Violetta gets mad at him as well for not trusting her, but again, why would he? She keeps being around Tomas, found in a questionable situation with him; she would've been okay with Tomas kissing her. Leon has zero reason to trust her, but then I have an amazing idea for Leon: don't be with her. He has trust issues for obvious reasons but keeps getting back together with her. Why? What's the point in this whole thing? They keep going in circles.
Then the whole competition thing starts. Leon obviously advises her to just simply not enter, and she will be okay. But because of Ludmila, she decides to do it anyway. Leon tells her that she should only tell his father if she wins. But after talking with Federico (a new guy who obviously has a crush on Vilu, but they don't know this when this whole thing goes down), she realizes that not entering would be the best choice, so she goes to get back her application paper. Leon finds this out and gets mad at her for choosing Fede's opinion over his, which is a reach. Vilu was actually thinking about withdrawing from the competition, so it's not like Fede gave her that idea. And even if he did, then what? She always needs to know what he says and can't talk to other people and get their advice. He then says that he is hurt because she didn't tell him about her changing her decision. Fede then tries to kiss Vilu, who obviously rejects him, and then she decides that she doesn't want to tell Leon this after everything. But Leon obviously gets to know about it and goes over to Vilu's, where Fede lives as well. I really like how Fede takes all the responsibility and tells him it was his fault and apologizes to Vilu. Then Vilu and Leon talk over the things, and everything is okay. But nothing lasts forever.
Later Tomas and Vilu are talking in the Studio, and Tomas comforts her. He tries to kiss her again, but since Umix is on the scene, they record the almost kiss. Then she goes out, meets Leon, and acts so natural and even hugs him. Like, it is so weird to me that she has no remorse whatsoever. She almost kissed another guy, but she seems so okay and fine. I could never. But Leon obviously sees the recorded video of the two of them almost kissing. He breaks up with him, and Vilu tries to save the situation, but then finally ends up taking responsibility for her actions and admits that she complicates things, which is true.
Violetta then gets voted out of the competition because of Ludmila. Leon can't accept this and wants a revote, but when it doesn't happen, he drops out, just so Violetta can get back her place in it. This is obviously a really nice thing of him and shows that he still has feelings for her and would do everything for her. He is better than me, because I wouldn't even want to see her after everything. He always puts her first, but she doesn't do the same thing for him. Not in the first season, not in the third. Then we get another sweet moment when Leon hugs her to make her feel happy.
Then Ludmila tricks him into saying really bad stuff about her (things Ludmila imagined him saying), which he obviously doesn't mean, and she would know that if she had stayed. She then gets mad at him and tells him off over the phone, but this leads nowhere. She forgets it or whatever, but this is never mentioned again, which is weird. Then both of them tell their friend group that they want to be together again. But why? Violetta still doesn't know what she wants, and why is Leon keeping forgiving her just like that? Why? Nothing is going to change; they keep doing the same thing over and over again. Then they both dream about the same song, and when they realize this, Vilu thinks it's a sign, but Leon isn't that convinced. Vilu then tries to convince him, once again, that they should get back together and that she loves him. He tells her that they've already been there, and that she doesn't know what she wants, and the problem is that she can't accept that. And boy, oh boy, he is so right. I'm so happy that he doesn't fall for these false hopes and promises again. But when he overhears Vilu asking Tomas to leave her alone, he thinks it's proof of her being over him. Then he interrupts a conversation between Tomas and Vilu, when Tomas asks for another chance, but Vilu says it's not going to happen because they are getting back together. Vilu doesn't really like this and tells Leon she doesn't want him to make decisions for her. I get her, but she wanted to get back together with him like a day ago. Then the show goes into full love triangle mode, but eventually she chooses neither of them. Her father wants to take her away, and the boys go to say goodbye. Leon asks her if she made a decision, which is kind of so funny, when Violetta has much bigger problems at the moment. She says she loves both of them, but they are still young. Herman then changes his mind, and she goes to perform with the guys. She meets Tomas, who tells her that he is going back to Spain, so I guess Violetta didn't need to choose either of them, since the decision was made for her this time as well.
I remember watching the show for the first time when I was around 15. I was immediately a Leonetta fan, and I wanted her to end up with him. When I rewatched the series as a 25-year-old, I realized how toxic they've always been. I still prefer Leon over Tomas, and I do think the other two seasons would've really worked with him, but I do wonder what would have happened if Ludmila and Leon hadn't gaslighted and manipulated both of them. If they didn't constantly try to convince both of them that the other one is a bad person. Obviously, they let themselves be manipulated. They could've not believed Leon and Ludmila; they could've fought for their love. And while I do think that Matteo and Luna aren't the healthiest couple (I watched the series as a 25-year-old for the first time), and they have a lot of issues in the first season as well (especially the whole Ambar-Matteo, Luna-Simon thing), they still feel healthier. Neither party (Matteo and Simon) tries to manipulate Luna into choosing them or shittalks the other without any actual reason. We could kind of say that the whole "I'm going back to Mexico" thing is kind of manipulation, but it doesn't seem that intentional compared to Leon's constant gaslighting about Tomas being a bad person when he doesn't even know him that well. It kind of feels like Leon is chosen for Violetta, while Luna chooses Matteo. And while I don't agree with a lot of things that Matteo and Luna do in the first season, they are nowhere near as toxic as Vilu and Leon. The constant manipulation, gaslighting, and how Vioetta plays with their feelings. They don't seem as amazing as they did when I was younger.
So my conclusion is that Leonetta is the more toxic couple, and they are individually more toxic than Lutteo, Matteo, and Luna.

How do you feel about the age gap between tini and jorge when they filmed violetta? Do you think is it weird? Or not?
The actress who played Jackie said that Tini and Jorge had to sign an agreement because of the kisses. It was very professional. Also it's obvious that Jorge always was very respectful to her so I don't see anything weird about it. And Tini and Jorge are in very good terms still after so many years..It was just a job. Ruggero tho...he was allegedly very problematic towards Karol
