I am so glad the new kdramas are bringing back the specific brand of loser men. You know which brand I'm talking about. The Ahn "min min" Minhyuk brand of loser men and I'm loving it. The "I worship this goddess and I'm so in love with her and I can't believe I get to love her. Oh my gods I love her so much" brand of loser men. And we're being fed so well with lovely runner, love next door, no gain no love, my demon, Cinderella at 2am, Hierarchy, Midnight Romance in Hagwon, doctor slump, Queen of tears, welcome to samdal-ri and even good partner (yes it's one sided but the dedication and yuri's couple too).

We need more fictional loser men who worship women to satiate our eldest independent daughter desires.

Doomed by the narrative

Warnings: squid game gore, gut wrenching angst.

I think that’s it! Enjoy!

Star had always told Nam-Gyu that their friendship was ‘Doomed By the Narrative’. It was a common joke between them.

Nam-Gyu just told her to stop reading those ‘Delusional’ books. That they would always be together, through and through.

That lasted many many years, through childhood, high school and even into adult hood.

But one thing that always pricked her continuous was, best friends like them never get the happy ending.

They had first noticed each other during Red Light, Green Light. He had ran to her, shouting how she shouldn’t be here and how it isn’t safe.

From then on he swore he would protect her, that they would both make it out alive.

They stuck together, along with Thanos and his group. They’d all made it though the first two games, everyone sticking together with no problem.

The third game came around, Mingle. It was all really nerve racking. The creepy child like music and the moving carousel they had to stand on.

“4!”

The voice called out, Nam-Gyu gripped your hand, standing next to Thanos as he tries to figure out who to take.

“Gyeoun-Su, your out!” He kicks Player 256 in the chest, knocking the poor guy down

“Let’s go!” Thanos yell’s, running to a room with you, Nam-Gyu, and Min-su following behind.

You barely make it into a room, 3 seconds sparred as you guys hold the door closed.

“1!”

The voice says, gun shots ringing out mere seconds after.

“Wait,” Thanos says “where did you guys leave Gyeoung-Su?” He asks, pushing Nam-Gyu harshly out of the way. Looking out the slot in the door, seeing his friend be shot and killed.

“Gyeoung-Su!” He yells “You left him to die, dumbass” you mutter under your breath.

Thanos whips around at your voice “What did you say?” He steps closer to you, trying to intimidate you. That is before Nam-Gyu steps in between you both.

It sings once more.

“It’s not worth fighting,” Nam-Gyu says harshly to Thanos.

The door finally unlocked, letting the four out.

The next couple rounds go by fine, all of them surviving.

The carousel starts spinning again, that damned song playing again.

“Dunggeulge dunggeulge”

“Binggeulbinggeul doragamyeo chumeul chupsida”

You can feel Nam-Gyu’s grip tighten around your hand, you both looking at each other.

It stops again.

“2!”

Thanos grabs min-su, the two running to a room.

You and Nam-Gyu run to a bright green room, his grip never faltering against yours.

That it until you feel your hair get ripped back, pushing you to the ground.

“Star!” You hear Nam-Guy’s voice through all the screaming.

He gets shoved into the room by the person who grabbed your hair.

You quickly get up, running to the door in hopes of in.

The clicks of all the doors locking rings in your ears.

“N-Nam-Gyu-“ you say through broken sobs.

“Star! No-no!” He rattles the door, as if trying to rip it off its hinges

“I love you Nam-“ you voice is cut off by a loud BANG!

Everything goes black.

Tears flood Nam-Gyu’s eyes “Star-“ he sobs, watching your lifeless body get taken away in the black and pink box.

You both really were doomed by the narrative.
