Frannie and I wanted to get married right away, but our families tried to talk us out of it. They didn’t want Frannie to marry a cripple. They gave us a lot of trouble. I may go up every rung on my ass, but I’ll do it. I have done it. April 23, 1945, Frannie and I ran away to Elkton, Maryland, and eloped. Not a penny between us, just each other. When you got something good you don’t let it get away. I married an angel. She put up with me and my crazy ways. Calmed me down. She understood me, helped me, never stopped me from doing anything I wanted to do. She was my leg, she was everything. Gotta give the gal credit. We went on our honeymoon in Columbus, Ohio. Drove to Johnny Martin’s house. Where were we gonna go, Hawaii? We didn’t have a damn dime. Johnny got discharged early for medical reasons, so we went to see him and Pat. We did things simple, but we had fun.

There is something so lonely about having found family as your favorite\comfort trope. Like absolutely, I love that these characters found each other and that they are happy in their group. But there is also that lonely child deep in my soul that wishes that it was me. The piece of me that yearns for what they have, for a family outside of blood that loves you unconditionally and you can get up to shenanigans with. Every time I read about it as a kid, I was so jealous, because as much as you can read about it, you can never live it. You can never take the place of these characters that have a group of people that they can depend on and that love them. That was something I always wanted. Still, there is something so lonely and childish about longing to be apart of something like that. I spent my childhood years consuming media with the 'found family' to fill that lonely void within me.

Now here I am, all these years later, still consuming media with 'found family' to appease that lonely little girl inside of me who told herself stories just to fall asleep at night.

Speaking of the winnix eye fucking scene and irl Dick being fine with it, it’s not like he didn’t spot it bc he knew nothing about yaoi stuff. Actually I think he was over-sensitive to yaoi for he was mad at the scene with the french newsboy. He thought the way they exchanged eye contact looked like he was trying to pick him up!

Some things i found out while rewatching some Bob scenes on the spanish dub part 1 feat winnix.

In the 'i' ll take you to Chicago ' scene Nix says 'vendrás a Chicago ' so its an order, also its not like well go toguether, its you WILL go because its an order, its using the imperative.

In the lake scene, Nix says "my dad expects me to make something of myself". Okay i see you Mr daddy issues.

So so far the conclusion is winnix is canon in the spanish dub. Also someone in the translations department is a shipper cause some of these changes are more romantic coded than platonic.
