Firstly, overall impressions on the tone/artstyle!

I mentioned a lot about the art style and everything in my first analysis post, but I just want to reiterate that it’s fun and I like it, and I like seeing how they take details of the game and translate them into the show.

From what I can tell the tone seems pretty lighthearted, well, as lighthearted as a murder mystery can be. It’s a little silly but in a charming way- but with a slight hint of dread. Kinda what I expected.

I think there’s still probably a little way to go before the show is ready considering there were no voice lines in the trailer, and it seemed more like “these are the characters look how fun they are” then actual plot/scenes, but that’s okay I actually really like that we’re not really seeing any glimpses of the plot or voice acting yet!

Anyways, now to the actual trailer!

So opening shot here is The Skeld. We already kinda knew it was going to be set there, but confirmation! At the moment I don’t think the planet/moon/asteroid thing behind them is important, it’s probably just to fill up the background, but who knows, it could be something!

Maybe impostor(s) come from there or something… or maybe it’s just a rock in space.

With this image, we finally have an answer to my question from last time- what kind of pizza do the beans eat?

I noticed immediately that there was prosciutto and arugula (a specific kind of bitter lettuce) on the pizza, and with a little googling and a few subsequent suggested searches, I managed to find recipes for fig and prosciutto pizza with, you guessed it, arugula and cheese. (There were multiple kinds of cheese it could be- goat, gorgonzola, mozzarella to name a few)

So those round things are figs. Who would have thought?

Next up we see our first glance of the additional room they added to the Skeld for the show- the kitchen! And the first glance at a depiction of an impostor!

Yellow and Brown seem like good buddies. I wonder how long that friendship will last when impostor stuff starts happening.

My guess is the depiction of the impostor here is a bit more figurative- Nobody really notices them (expect one bean, but we’ll get to that later), and they just kinda seem to be lurking around being scary. Feels more like, idk the idea of an impostor than the actual impostor? I don’t know if I’m explaining that super well.

Maybe this is like the impostor checking out the crew before they start actually impostoring. Idk.

Also, seems like one shadow (although who knows honestly). Maybe it’s a sign of there just being one among the crew? …or maybe I’ve flipped the other way and am interpreting this too literally now.

Regardless, the impostor(s) do/does certainly seem very alieny.

(Alternate impostor conspiracy theories- impostor switches between crewmates/they’re all impostors (which would kinda defeat the purpose tho) or everyone’s just paranoid and there is no impostor (I feel like people would get disappointed by that though so they wouldn’t do it)).

After that we head to navigation.

Here, Red is slacking off playing video games (oddly enough with a human in them- as someone pointed out in the Innersloth discord server, which has some interesting implications. To expand on that myself, it seems like a kind of ancient-civilization human, which is interesting. I tried to figure out what game this is with a reverse image search but I couldn’t, I wonder if it’s a real game or something one of the devs made or something else.)

Anyways Red receives a call from a shadowy figure, presumably a boss of some sort, and scrambles to look like they’re doing what they’re supposed to. The image looks kinda similar to how they’re animating the impostor, but this could be an intentional red herring or just how they’re showing an unrevealed character or an “everyman” type being. Regardless, vaguely ominous.

As for navigation itself, I like the vibes honestly. I want to go there. I love the little headslug bobble head and a lot of the details in the background. Can’t assign everything there directly to a task, but it does have the three consoles and the chair. Also I noticed the bright yellow sticky note- like the “dum” visor cosmetic! I wonder what those papers on the floor say.

Next we’re in the cafeteria. (You can tell by the coloring of the wall, this is probably the vent near weapons)

A couple things I noticed here!

First of all, everyone’s very nonchalant about Lime venting. That seems to mean it’s established that Lime is an engineer like the role in the game (honestly I’m a little surprised a new role was included here!) and that the crew knows this and doesn’t think Lime traveling though vents is a big deal. Will this extend to other crewmembers? Will this put suspicion on Lime as things progress? Who knows!

Also, small thing here, but Cyan signs Orange’s waiver (on the clipboard they seem to carry with them everywhere) simply as “Cyan”. I assumed they would just be going by colors the whole time and not have names or anything, but this kinda confirms that.

(By extension, maybe colors aren’t even codenames or anything for them lore-wise, maybe their names are literally their colors. Also makes me think there may be just one of each color in the entire series if they sign simply as a color. Then again, here I am over analyzing small details again.)

We follow Lime through a vent and into the reactor, which is being watched on the cameras by Purple.

I don’t have a ton to say about Purple, they just seem to be doing their job here. I do find it interesting that the shadow blocks out the reactor camera and then makes it malfunction (is something going to happen in there?) but it may just be a kind of moving the trailer forward type thing.

Also, side note, what’s Lime’s deal with the reactor? They run up to it and snuggle it with hearts floating above them. Engineer really loves their engine I guess haha. I know people have to have already been meming this.

Next is a scene in the medbay.

They do seem to have the medical scanner in the background there, so I wonder if that visual task will ever come into play.

Also I see the MIRA logo on a poster in the background, so my guess is they are somehow under/related to the MIRA corporation.

Green is blushing as Blue checks their reflexes. I remember Blue’s character being described as very attractive, so it could be possible that everyone gets that way around them, or it could just be Green. Idk I’m not here to navigate the minefield that is shipping beans.

White is busy swirling around wine(?) until of course, the impostor shadow thing creeps in as with all the other scenes.

This time, however, someone notices. White.

My guess is White is going to die, and they’re going to die pretty early on.

I was already kinda suspecting White was going to die first simply because of how their character is described. Rich, here because they won some kind of contest, seems to be a bit of a jerk. Feels like the kind of person who would die first idk, just a vibe I’ve had for a while.

Also, I was thinking that 11 is kind of an interesting number, especially considering there were 12 original colors. (Side note, my guess is they’re waiting to include Pink alongside Coral and Rose as “the pinks” or something if they add the new colors in a later season). I feel like maybe they wanted a main crew of ten (because that is what the original lobby size is and thus what a lot of people associate with the game), but needed someone to die early to set up the plot so they needed up with 11.

Now, White being the first and only one to notice the shadow creeping around, and to immediately look terrified and be overtaken by it on screen? My guess is they’re the first to go.

One could also argue that this is an indication of them being an impostor, but idk that feels too obvious of a way to reveal that. (Also I have a different theory as to who it could be). My guess is we won’t know who the impostor is as the audience for a while.

Finally we have this image. I have quite a bit to say about this one!

First of all, I just love this image in general. Makes me so happy to see all the beans!

Anyways, the impostor shadow thing comes in and covers the “not” in “we’re not dead” and I love that I think that’s fun. Also, again, love the falling apart blinds (why are there blinds on a spaceship?) and the balloons duct taped to the window.

We also see them eating the aforementioned fig and prosciutto pizza. There are also a lot of red spheres on the table, which I haven’t quite figured out yet. Fruits of some kind? Or decorations perhaps? Maybe all red gumballs? Whatever they are, Orange is holding one. There’s bologna or summer sausage or something near Brown, and a gray disk in front of it. Not sure about that either, looks kinda like a giant coin, or one of those round lights you tap to turn on and off. Red’s reading what seems to be a rule book (they really don’t seem prepared aha), and there’s also an image of a crewmate on the other side. I can’t tell if it’s supposed to be Pink or Tan.

Blue has a piece of paper with a skull on it which looks pretty ominous, and Brown is holding a knife, but I think those are just red herrings related to their professions. Blue’s a doctor and Brown’s a chef, and Yellow is also holding a cooking implement.

Also, once again, no sign of an emergency meeting button. (Unless the weird gray circle is related somehow?)

With that I was almost ready to wrap up the analysis…

but then I noticed something.

Idk if it’s just me but this image is giving the vibe of the Leonardo Da Vinci painting The Last Supper. I don’t know where my mind pulled this from, but I just kinda looked at it was like… wait this looks familiar. At first I thought it was just my brain making connections, but when you look at the two images right beside each other, it seems like a pretty deliberate parallel.

If it is intentional… Orange is in almost the exact same position that Judas (the betrayer) was in in the painting.

Also, just spitballing here, not really part of the theory, if Orange is working against the crew (either as an impostor or an accomplice), and they’re apparently affiliated with HR… what kind of implications could this have for the lore as a whole? Red’s probably just talking to their boss or something, but it feels ominous- what if MIRA (assuming that’s who’s in charge here) is in on the whole impostor thing?

But again, this is also kind of obvious of a hint, so I’m slightly skeptical of it.

Anyways, lots to think about with this, as you can tell I’m pretty excited.

This Week in BL - A New Entry My Top 10 BLs of All Time

March 2023 Wk 4

Being a highly subjective assessment of one tiny corner of the interwebs. Organized by which ones (in each category) I’m enjoying most.

Ongoing Series - Thai

Bed Friend (Sat YT, GaGa & iQIYI uncut) ep 7 of 10 - the plot remains much the same and I am getting very concerned they extended this one as it’s starting to flag. Might have been my first high heat 10/10 candidate if they had kept it at 8 eps. Bummer. I mean it’s still good and I’m still enjoying it, but... character development is a thing.  

Future (Thai Sun YouTube & Gaga) ep 2 of 5 - Drunken gathering is such a hallmark of this franchise. Tiny bit of James flirting! (He’s my fav character ever since Love Mechanics original and the punch). Fuse is right to be worried about getting drunk bc he wants to be able to take care of Ana. I love the actor who plays Top (the ex). I’ve said it before (Remember Me) I really want him to get his own series. Also adventures in translation, Top did not say “I can’t believe you’re dating this man”, he said “I can’t believe you’re dating this kid/child”. These two are the ULTIMATE over dramatic college gays. Their relationship has NO drama but they will make it anyway. 

Pastsenger (Thai Weds Gaga) 4 of 12 eps - I like it more and more each new ep. The leads are developing a fun playful relationship. It’s a bit slapstick for me but it’s not offensive or boring. 

A Boss and a Babe (Fri YouTube) ep 5 of 12 - I don’t know. I’m just finding this one kind of boring now. Although, it looks like we are getting cute boyfriends next week so that might be nice. 

Tin Tam Jai (Tues Gaga & iQIYI) ep 6 of 12 - Side couple advanced into lap sitting and tongue kisses out of nowhere. Good tongue kissing, even if surprising. Higher heat! Yay! They’re a great pair, but would it kill Thailand to give us character development with our high heat?

Chains of Heart (Sat iQIYI) ep 7 of 10 - the confusing whateverness of waisted chemistry continues to confuse. 

The Promise (Thai Weds YT) ep 5 of 10 - I don’t know what’s going on with this show. That’s it? He just fell in love with bestie and then punished bestie for his own feelings? Seriously? WTF. ON HIATUS UNTIL APRIL 19. 

Ongoing Series - Not Thai

Our Dating Sim (Korea Thurs Viki) eps 7-8fin - Absolutely wonderful. There is a time laps but it’s the good kind - NO SEPARATION. Couple of moments when I doubted they could pull it off. But CONGRATZ! We have a new entry into the very rare 10/10 club. I have go change all my best of lists but this was worth it. Final thoughts below. 

Unintentional Love Story (Korea Thurs iQIYI) 5-6 of 10 - (here’s how I’m getting it) KBL rarely gives quality sides dishes but these two are legend. Poor tattooed player hottie is always getting punched. Don’t get me wrong the leads are great too. It’s fun to watch two sets of bisexual identity crisis being handled entirely differently because of good characterization. I say “ouch” a lot while watching this show. Also “awwwww.” I do worry their cafe has no customers tho. 

The Eighth Sense (Korea Weds Viki) eps 1-2 of 10 - With 10 episodes of about 40 minutes each this has got to be one of the longest BLs Korea has ever given us. However from tone, filming style, opening credits, and trailer I am guessing this could be sad. If its KBL doing JBL style then we are in His the series territory, but it could be more in the Blueming vein. I’d give it 50/50 odds. There’s always a chance it wants to be “taken seriously” which is the death knell of BL. Also if a lead smokes it means that one or both will cheat. (I don’t make the rules, the Japanese yaoi gods do.) OK, but do I like it? Yes, actually, it’s... interesting. It’s got a bit of an age gap, country boy/city boy, the acting is great, characters complex, good chemistry and tension. It’s a bit chewy and sticky and less perfect than most KBL (do I detect a touch of Taiwan?). This one is deploying BL tropes (messy eater, shoulder sleep, protective seme, there’s even some hyung-slinging) but it isn’t in the KBL bubble, there’s sharp edges, we may get a coming out sequence or even a bashing. It certainly will stay interesting. But proceed with caution. 

A Shoulder to Cry On (Korea Tues Viki & Gaga) eps 5-7fin - What both these kids need is a little affection and a lot of therapy, not romance. The punishment for flirting in class thing was funny. They are such boyfriends by ep 5 - Sitting together, sharing a glass etc…Terrible awful grueling confession rejection. 2 year time gap. Much needed in this case. Then another 2 before the epilogue. Honestly, the most unlikely thing about this show (after the casting) was the prospect of an out gay Korean cop. No kisses for us. Narrative indicated that there should have been at least a fish kiss, but not happening with them in the same Kpop group. I’m starting to think I really just prefer KBLs where they use actors and not idols (Semantic Error excepted, of course). I’m assuming the next 2 eps are bts. Final thoughts below. 

It’s Airing But ...

Love Syndrome (Thai Sat WeTV) stopped at ep 2 of 12 - I’m just not into any aspect of it (except Lee Long Shi and I can watch him in Tin Tem Jai - see above pic, awesome side dish action) - saving to binge if the end is solid.

Venus in the Sky (Sat YouTube) pilot/tester?) 0 of 10 - not entirely sure what’s up with this one distribution-wise, but the pilot was cute, classic university-set pulp. I hope it happens because the leads are cute with good chemsitry and I thought it was fun. However, it totally holds together as it’s own little short story too. 

Cafe In Love (Thai ???) 10 eps on Ch3+ - Thai pulp, about trying to save a coffee shop. FairyGodBLer came through for me, but I’m collecting to binge just in case. It’s my new policy with the grey stuff. 

Destiny Seeker (Tues WeTV Thailand) 10 eps - it’s not on any WeTV I can get ahold of. Bad Buddy the pulp rebirth meets Japanese handsome host club action. Same as above.

Make a Wish (Thai Weds ?) from WaGa Creative staring Fluke Natouch (OhmFluke UWMA etc...) & Judo (The Miracle Of Teddy Bear) in a medical-fantasy. It seems to be a light-hearted romance with a comedic flair. About a doctor who sees ghosts and a deity who resides in a Bodhi tree that earns merits whenever he fulfills a wish based on a y-novel by Sammon (Manner of Death, Triage). Too hard to find.

Finished this week

Our Dating Sim (Korea Viki) I enjoyed every aspect from the casting to the very simple premise to the quietly smooth execution. Sure it’s very low stakes, but that makes it high domesticity and extremely warm and gentle. This is a fuzzy blanket of a story. Do we call this cozy BL? Why not? This one is going to live in my rewatch pile, I can tell already, and you know what’s best about it? Every single episode is in that pile. There’s no skipping with this one, it might be good natured and calmly sweet but it’s tight and the pacing is excellent. It perfectly suited KBL’s short-length tendencies. Full review. 10/10 I CANNOT RECOMMEND THIS SHOW HIGHLY ENOUGH

A Shoulder to Cry On (Korea Viki & Gaga) - Adaptation of a manwha, high school set bully romance, staring Jaehan & Yechan BOTH from Kpop group OMEGA X, so no kissing. All in all this was a painfully awkward watch for me, and while beautiful and decently acted, the story and characters rendered it ultimately disappointing. I think we shouldn’t let Korea do bully romance. 4/10 FATALLY FLAWED 

Jack O’Frost It was fine. I never really cared about the characters or their relationship. Not to slag off the acting (which was superb) but the narrative bored me. 5/10 WATCH ONLY IF YOU HAVE NOTHING BETTER TO DO

Eternal Yesterday is getting a movie version with additional content if you want extra suffering. 

A few things have been announced but mostly Thai, Japanese, and 2 (yes, 2) Chinese Omegaverse (Desire and Couple or Not). It’s doubtful these will pass censorship, so I’m not gonna bother tracking until they actually get international distribution. For Thailand, I’m excited about Waterboyy 3, which NOT a remake (hally-fucking-luya) but a new installment, and stars KaownahTurbo (Love Stage!!! et al). Although why the fuck they don’t put Est Supha (swim champ) into one of these is a mystery to me. For Japan, they’ll start airing sooner rather than later, so expect me to start tracking those.

Exciting times

As we enter the last leg of this race, please beware of the SPOILERPOCALYPSE.

The reason i'm not here much lately is precisely because of spoilers. I think marketing has done more than they should have, i don't need to see more of the game, i just want to play it. Now just checking my socials puts me at risk of getting major spoilers i'm trying so hard to avoid at all costs.

Yesterday the embargo on the preview event was lifted and all the people who was fortunate to be invited have been sharing their reviews, impresions and recorded gameplay. Unfortunately for those of us who wish to experience the game ourselves instead of having the first Act spoiled, not everyone uses spoiler warnings, hashtags or keywords one can mute or block while this lasts. Personally i'm mostly on twitter and there i muted +130 words for 30 days only to have a spoiler about Rook's origins in one of the factions still slip through.

I've been checking on YouTube carefully like it's a minefield -because it really is- for some of these content creators' videos, for the most part just to listen and what i've gathered so far is they were allowed about 7 hours of play, including the character creator and 5 selected missions from Act I, but there's a couple of late Act I missions they weren't allowed to record or talk much about, and they weren't allowed to show some menus, namely the accesibility menu as it seems there's official marketing coming up centered on that.

The big and main positive i can take from these recent developments is that there's a new consensus: Dragon Age The Veilguard looks good. Long gone are the days of first trailer bad impressions and Fortnite accusations, now that some people finally got to experience the game themselves the reviews are mostly positive, excited, and i've seen some content creators change their minds about the game entirely. Bioware took notes all these years and are ready to deliver an unexpectedly very polished game as a result. People at the event were told the game has 3 Acts and i've heard this from several people, if the rest of the game keeps up the rhythm from what they saw of Act I, then Bioware is back. GOTY contender. IMO BW was never "gone", they were just slowly cooking this upcoming full meal

Sure, combat may not be for everyone, a more linear experience may not be for everyone. But personal preferences aside all seems to indicate The Veilguard will deliver as promised.

Spoilers are unavoidable sometimes so i've actualy looked for some, namely the Character Creator, the different factions origin stories, the different surnames. I had to go out of my way to see these things tho, intentionally spoiling myself these details because I have as of now 12 different Rooks planned and i needed to know if the stories i made for them would conflict or not with what the game will offer. Only one origin has a detail that might restrict things a bit.

There's apparently also a scene from a mission i'm not sure they were allowed to show, i skipped through a video about it without really looking and just now saw something from it on my dashboard but i scrolled down as fast as i could because it's something i really want to see in game first. It's such a big thing, it shouldn't have been showned or leaked at all. All i'll say is it's about Solas, and something many of us wanted to see for a long time.

All this said, while we wait for October 31st to come quick we still have the podcast Vows&Vengeance each Thursday. I might write on it soon. This podcast is safe from spoilers, it's set pre-Veilguard and introduces the companions one per episode, and the original characters are apparently a V&V exclusive and won't show in game. I think this podcast series is currently the only safe marketing material available until release. Meanwhile the IGN coverage continues, full of minor spoilers sprinkled all over so i'm also avoiding all of it.

We're now 41 days away from an event we've been waiting for 10 years! The waiting has never been harder.

Have ya seen or read either delicious in dungeon or frieren? I dunno how you feel about refan these days but I figured some popular fantasy series would give ya a chance to get more into the genre/setting/etc

Dungeon Meshi.....aka the anime with a very yuri coded scene being blasted all over the internet? .....of course I'd watch it. 8U Give this himejoshi a good yuri or shojo-esque scene and there's a good chance I'll be all over it! <(˘ ˘ ˘)>

Tbh I got a bit spoiled on it (between the bath scene, and the thing that directly lead to needing the bath scene that looks like it was a scene outta that Locked Tomb novel I need to finish XU). But tbf, that spoiler did get me interested. And I am liking it!

Plus that main genre of that anime (fantasy adventure) was something up my boyfriend's alley so I figured he'd enjoy it too. And he did! And we're now waiting for the next ep. Marcille is my(/our?) fav I think.

Frieren I've heard and seen stuff from it (one person I follow was reblogging a lot of both). I kept getting it confused with DunMesh tbh. We checked out the trailer but......it's didn't grab either of us. I'll look a diff trailer later to see if it gives us more info on what's going on. TT0TT

We just finished Hell's Paradise (those last few eps may have caused me to start shipping Sagiri and Yuzuhira pretty hard u_u alksfjdl) And we ended up starting....Mashle, only watched the first ep but it looks promising!

That's in the fantasy genre too I think (tho it seems more like a comedy)? I wanted to watch it cause I was interested in the char designs (kept seeing them with Tamashii figures).

my ranking of all the Toy Story movies:

Toy Story 2: Im biased since this was the one I watched the most growing up. I just think it’s the most fun to watch. It strikes a good balance of having toy related existential despair without it being unpleadently bleak like a lot of the later entries become. It’s also sweeter and more sentimental then the first movie without loosing its early Pixar roughness.

I unironically think it’s my favourite looking Toy Story movie visually.

Toy Story: Adore how shitty all the toys are in this movie. They have a horrible chicken-like society ruled by pecking order, both deeply hostile to newcomers and quick to . Love how Woody is basically a villain protagonist in the first act of the movie. Still love all the sad mangled abominations Sid makes.

Overall I think it holds up really well and is a solid movie. I don’t think the pacing is as good as TS2, and felt dragged out in certain sections. The toy characters still look great. The humans less so but understandable for the time it was made. The dog tho is a hideous thing.

Toy Story 3: To be honest I think I hold more nostalgia for this movie’s IMDB page than I do for the movie itself. I remember eagerly checking the forum discussion for it, checking all the stills and trailers released for it. It MIGHT of been the thing that also got me to start looking at Reddit for the first time..

This movie came out at the very apex and end of Pixar’s reign of financial and critical dominance in american animation they had cultivated during the 2000s. People really really liked this one back in the day, but revisiting it now I don’t think it holds up compared to its predecessors. The emotional ending of the movie feels stilted now, and also is completely undercut by the existence of and conclusion of the 4th movie (tho that’s not really a flaw of this movie on its own..)

Most interesting thing revisiting it is seeing how much it has now aged visually. The lighting thought the movie has a strange mucky/green loom to it, I don’t know if anyone else feels that way about it. It felt like they were juggling too many characters that the mvoie didn’t known what to do with. The only standout characters were Ken and the scary and shit cymbal monkey. Lotso is kinda just Jesse and Stinky Pete mashed together and not as good.

Toy Story 4: I don’t know why this movie exists or why it has a 97% on Rotten Tomatoes. I didn’t like it. It feels like the franchise has collapsed under its weird existential angst at this point while also losing any bite it might of had. The ending (spoiler??) has the exact same weirdness as how HTTYD 3 did that deflates the other movies (especially the third). It’s weird enough to make Woody abandon his human child, but I really don’t buy that he would abandon all his friends to live wild in an amusement park like a little rat just for some Bo Peep action.

The one thing it does have over the third movie is (besides the villain) I think the new characters in this are better. I love the horrible fork mutant and the Canadian stunt devil. The Key and Peele Bunny and ducky were eh but their designs perfectly encompass what modern cheap stuffed animals look like that I like to look at them and their few sparkly eyes. Really didn’t like the baby doll villain, or girlboss Bo Peep who feels like she might as well of been an entirely different character.

Lightyear: Feels like the writer of this movie really wanted to make a hard sci fi story about a planetary colony and time dilation, but could only do so through Pixar with the promise it would make money if Buzz Lightyear was in it.

It really doesn’t work as a movie about the in universe IP of Buzz Lightyear, I think the old Buzz cartoon series gets the tone down much better as just being pulpy space adventures. Even if it wasn’t about Buzz I think it’s too bleak and boring as family animated movie, and too toothless and devoid of speculative elements as a science fiction story.

I didn’t even like the talking robot cat that much, but he was truely carrying the whole movie on his shoulders in terms of making it entertaining.

(Re)watched every Toy Story movie this weekend and I am baffled by how Toy Story 4 has such good ratings online. Id rank it as being as good a Cars 3.

...not sure about the wigs? Nami's is looking a little eh to me and I can't tell if Sanji has one too or if that's actual grown hair (I think the actor said he did grow it out??). Zoro still having green hair is also a bit of a surprise but I guess it's too much of trademark to get rid of. Overall they seem to be trying to stay faithful to character's looks

On the other hand, not missing Usopp's nose and Sanji's eyebrows because those would be trickier to translate well into live action

Buggy looking creepy af but ok (his wig is also kinda eh but it's less so because he's a damn clown anyway)

Did we notice Coby when Luffy throws the punch at the end? Blink and you miss it but coby's there, bless him. All he does is take a step back but it's such an early-on Coby move (...seems to not have the pink hair tho??)(actually is coby gonna go by he/him like the original or are we going they/them like the actor? Either is fine with me)

Not expecting the attack names either but alright. Or maybe it's just luffy

Seems the crew getting together might be a little different? "Not a crew"... don't know how I feel about that. Trying to keep in mind it's just a different adaptation

Merry might be there from the beginning?? It seemed like it was being built at luffy's island but that could be just an impression from the editing (not sure they would mess with something that gets relevant later but not sure there will be more seasons either at this point)

The cgi is. Could be better, could be worse. The sea monster has that floaty cgi feeling I don't particularly like but probably shouldn't have expected otherwise

The stretched arm is uhh. Not too good tho, as well as the dark (marine?) ship firing. Maybe I can ignore it in the series as I get used

On that note sometimes it looks too green-screeny, but it's kind of on par with the average tv show. I can also take it in a whimsical way tho, and what is real sets helps balance it out (to be honest I quite like what we can see of the real sets)

Overall it's... Alright probably (even if my points above seem like nagging. Promise I'm not). The feeling is there, a little different but there. Probably gonna be kinda cheesy because one piece is not a good candidate for a live action adaptation in the first place, like everyone and their grandmother has known their whole lives, but they seem to be embracing it anyway. I'm getting used already

Cast and real ships have been known for a long time so no complaints there (VERY important the ships being mostly real to balance cgi and contribute to whimsicality like I said above.)

Yeah I feel better now that the trailer is out and we have a better idea of what it's looking like. I am relieved, to be honest. It could have been SUCH a shit show jesus christ

Feels... yeah, feels good, adventurous in a fun one piece way. The music and editing fit well I think. Even if the series turns out bad I'll have a special feeling for this trailer, sue me

Thoughts before Legacies:

I have to admit that this second arc is.... Less impressive than the first arc of s2, even compared to s1. Di and Obake were an unpredictable and smart villain, and it was nice to see how they moved against BH6. And their twists were quite cool (Obake had brain damage; Di was a clone of Liv). now, Chief Diego Cruz, is just.... A straight boring alpha-male main antagonist (or anti-hero) whose motive to catch BH6 is kinda.... Confusing. I mean, you were just being salty to superheroes because your superhero doesn't come up? Hmmmm. I wish we could see his motives more on the finale, but I expect less.

Meghan is an interesting character tho, especially to Hiro. But honestly, she makes me missing Karmi so much. Megan & Hiro's interactions are kinda cute, But nothing special compared to Karmi & Hiro's. They fought all the time, but they cared each other, and they finally became friends, until Karmi had to move for the sake of her healthiness. Their development to each other was really enjoyable and shippable to follow. Megan and Hiro's are decent too, I like their interactions, but yeah, it's quite soso compared to Karmi's, maybe because she appears less often than Karmi despite being one of the main focus on Fugitive's arc, but still. But after portal Enemy, It's quite cool to see than Megan would involve with BH6 more, and that she understood why BH6 did this thingy, regardless of how Legacies would play out, so yeah, I can't wait to see her more.

Now onto the villains, while this second arc's villains are unique, they aren't that memorable compared to the past villains. The only villains that I actually invest into are Hardlight and Sirque, but even they don't have any great motives either or maybe I am just being a nitpicky. On the other side, we have shorted Mini Max (which somehow funny but yeah), El Fuego is kinda less impressive villain, Major Blast is Fred's mom, and Supersonic Stu is a dork big man and a rip off of Sonic the hedgehog. A positive note of it that they are working individually in the end, not being United as a villain legion on Obake's and Di's. It is quite refreshing to see, and we could see what's more of them as a separate individual.

Also kinda hmmm with Trina and NBB didn't even make an appearance on Fugitive arc, yet somehow appeared on the first arc, it would have been really interesting to see how they would fight against BH6 in the midst of the police situation out there, especially Chief Cruz. Probably they will be set for the S3, as the final bosses, since I predict that s3 might be the final season of BH6, due to low ratings and activities from fandom (I may be wrong tho but yeah it's hard to see we would get the s4) l, but still it would have been interesting to see them involving on Fugitives arc.

Now on the positive notes of this arc, Hiro the Villain is one of my favorite episode on s2, alongside Prey Date, and The Date of the Roommate. It is quite to see Momakase backstory that makes her human, and her interaction with Hiro is kinda cool to see. I also love how they 'forgot' the amnesia trope to Megan on "Portal Enemy". It makes she would get involved more with BH6 which is kinda nice to follow and probably to make her as the new member of BH6. The upgrades of BH6, including having Base-Max and Sim-Max are really cool, and they make BH6 more superhero thingy. Also more of solo character development, including Fred's and Wasabi's, which are nice to see, wish we do have more these kind of episodes in the future and we soon probably figure out the real name of BH6.

It is interesting to see how Megan and Cruz's future after Legacies episode. I hope that they will still appear on future episodes, especially Megan.

The entire Madgrial Family (Encanto)

The moment I saw the teaser trailer for Encanto I started crying. I was so BEYOND EXCITED to see real, true, positive beautiful Latin American representation in a Disney movie. I'm not even Colombian but seeing something like this become so popular made me so happy. Being able to fully understand "Dos Orugitas" in Spanish just hits so different, its not the same in English. It's such a beautiful step for Latin American representation, and I'm so excited to see what comes next for us. (Still holding out for my Latina Disney princess tho. And no, Elena doesn't count) I've also been told I look just like Mirabel and seeing a character that looks like me in a Disney movie just made my heart soar.

Luz Noceda (The Owl House)

Bruh a bisexual Latina with mommy issues AND she's bilingual??? She's just like me fr.

Lance McClain (V*ltron Legendary Defender)

He was my absolute favorite character in V*ltron and I will NEVER forgive them for ruining his arc and making him sad forever. He deserved a happy ending. He's NOT "just a boy from Cuba", he's so important and lovely.

Miles Morales (Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse)

I'm not a comic book reader, so Into the Spiderverse was the first time I met Miles. Finding out he was Afro Latino made me heart soar. He's a sweet boy, such a good character in the movie, and definitely deserved the Oscar. Can't wait for the sequel.

Claire Nuñez (Tales of Arcadia)

Claire is literally such a badass. She's amazing, an amazing character, her story with Jim is beautiful. Love it when she's speaks Spanish. 10/10 character (Watch Tales of Arcadia it's really good)

Phineas and Ferb was the first fandoms I was ever in, and Isabella holds such a special place in my heart. Love her to pieces

• Marco Diaz (Star vs. The Forces of Evil)

Svtfoe was also one of the first fandoms I was in, so seeing one of the leads be portrayed as Mexican made 12 year old me so happy.

• Miguel Rivera (Coco)

Coco is such a beautiful movie, and I ONLY watch it in Spanish. Miguel is such a sweet and special boy, he really brought the joy of music back into his family.

• Soos (Jesus) Alzamirano Ramirez

Gravity Falls was ALSO one of the first fandoms I was in (PnF, GF, and Svtfoe were my main 3 for a time), and finding out this loveable goof was Latino made me really happy

• Princess Elena Castillo Flores

Now she may not be an official Disney princess (she doesn't meet all the requirements to be part of the franchise) but that doesn't mean she isn't excellent representation for young children. Although the show doesn't represent one specific Latin American country/culture, the show does have bits and pieces of many different LatAm cultures, and even some indigenous inspiration here and there with all the mythology aspects. It isn't perfect, but I do still appreciate Elena's presence in Disney.

Pt 4 of The Guide: Shipwrecked Comedy (SC or just Shipwrecked). The other sorta sister company. Which I would call even less of a sister company, it's more like, a friend company. It's run by 4 ppl who aren't really ever in any SK productions but have been in several of TCB's and they're all good friends with TCB and many SK members and several SK members are in Shipwrecked's productions. Shipwrecked's productions also seem to be connected though its something a lot less talked about, but again you don't need to watch one to understand another, there's just little references that show up, not something you need to understand, they just happen and it's neat.

Kissing In The Rain. To be perfectly honest I haven't seen it yet and know absolutely nothing about it but it looks good, here's the trailer

Edgar Allen Poe's Muder Mystery Dinner Party (Poe Party). A webseries, it's very funny, the characters are super fun, it's even funnier if you really know who these writers are and get the references to their stories, but you do not at all have to know who they all are to enjoy it. Also you can follow along and try to figure out who the killer is too.

Summary: Edgar Allen Poe invites several other writes over for a fun murder mystery dinner party, until people start actually getting murdered. It's has Lousia May Alcott, Ernest Hemingway, George Eliot, Charlotte Brontë, Fyodor Dostoevsky, H. G. Wells, Mary Shelley, Oscar Wilde, Emily Dickinson, Agatha Christie, as well as two characters from Poe's stories, Lenore and Annabel Lee. Trailer

The Case of the Gilded Lily (Gilded Lily for short). A short film. It's short and sweet and funny. It's a classic old black and white detective case in the 1930's. It's another mystery you can solve along with them. (Fun fact they just ended a Kickstarter for a podcast called The Case of the Greater Gatsby (Greater Gatsby for short) which will be another mystery involving the Gilded Lily characters and tons of new characters as well, finding out who killed F. Scott Fitzgerald. It'll be a while before that's released tho so.)

Summary: Private Investigator Ford Phillips promised he'd never take a case involving Hollywood. Until a fast talking journalist comes in with her rich loud mouthed actress friend who is being black mailed and he finally decides to take the case to help them. Trailer

American Whoopee. It's a fake trailer for a silent film. It's funny but it's not really my personal fave (although it is still good). It doesn't really have a concise plot exactly, which is on purpose. Again it's a trailer, and the joke is that their doing these classic plots that so many modern movies and shows all mixed into one movie but it's a silent film.

Friends Til The End. A wonderful song! I've listed to so much it is just SUCH a bop!

Summary: ok well not much to really summarize here, it's a song based off of Dracula from the perspective of Mina and Lucy.

Headless and Unsolved Babestreries. I absolutely absolutely love it. Really fun cast of characters, hilarious, great twists and mysteries. Again you can try and solve the mystery along the way. It's my favorite Shipwrecked Comedy production.

Summary: it's the classic story of Sleepy Hollow and the the headless horseman with a twist. Ichabod Crane has gotten a job in Sleepy Hollow as a science teacher but he's having a hard time paying his rent. He finds out about the legend of the Headless Horseman and then find out its not just a legend. He decides to let the headless horseman become his roommate and help pay rent and help the horseman find his head. Trailer

Shipwrecked Plays D&D. Exactly what the tin says, Shipwrecked Comedy plays D&D. Spefically Sean, Sinéad, MK, Sarah and Krystina as players and Gabe as their DM. A really fun series, if you like D&D I'm sure you'll like this, and if you don't I think you could still like this, it's just really fun. There's also lots of references to Headless (but I don't feel like it's necessary to have watched Headless to enjoy this at all, but it definitely makes the experience more enjoyable).

Summary: we follow the characters as they team together on a mission given to them by C.R.A.N.E, the organisation they work for, to investigate a town being haunted.

The Case of the Greater Gatsby (Greater Gatsby). Currently ongoing. Very fun follow up to Gilded Lily. If you liked Gilded Lilly then you gotta listen to this, it has all the same characters plus so many more and they're all so fun and colorful. And ofc another fun mystery to try and figure out yourself as you listen. There's so much going on and so many characters and it's so great.

Summary: Ford Phillips and Fig Wineshine are back at it again, this time to investagate the murder of F. Scott Fitzgerald and robbery of the script he was working on: The Greater Gatsby, which was filled with secrets about Hollywood. Trailer

How to Be A Ghost. Another wonderful song! The costume designs are especially a highlight for me.

Summary: again not exactly much to summarize. It's a song based off of A Christmas Carol from the perspective of Jacob Marley after he dies and is told by the Christmas ghosts that he needs to visit Scrooge on Christmas Eve to help him become a better person.

I GOT ELECTRICITY BACK!

After nearly 3-4 days with no electricity it finally came back... but now we have no water LOL sucks to suck i guess. Just wait it out and see what’s wrong.

Also, did anyone tuned in for the 1rst episode of “Our Blues”?

Apparently Jimin’s OST didn’t debut during the first ep as everyone thought/expected. But the series looks very promising!

I wish it had subs when I watched it tho 😭 it looked so interesting, I especially WANT to know what’s the beef between those 3-4 characters that were stuck in a “traffic jam” and kept fighting 😂

Though if I remember correctly during the MANY short trailers that kept popping up, there IS this story that has to with their kids? Like the teenagers that appear during the fight watching it from afar. So its going to be this “forbidden love” of sorts a-la Romeo+Juliet.

I might also have that yoonmin fic I’m have in Drafts finally published tonight since I was able to finish a great deal of it on my phone during these past 3 nights that I couldn’t get online.

2.14 Moments Of Love (Thai - Foremorfilm Production) cinemas Was originally Golf (Director of 609 Bedtime Story & The Eclipse) to direct stars SmartJames (LeonPhob from Don't Say No) in a series. Is now something totally different and a movie. We are all confused.

02.16 Boyband the series (Thai - World Star) YouTube - Thai idol boy band BL.

02.18 Bed Friend (Thai - Domundi) Viki, YouTube, iQIYI? Adapted from a Y-novel (same setting as Middleman’s Love) about Uea (reserved and shy and hates players) and King (a big time flirt) who work in the same office and share a best friend. Despite the fact that they don’t really like each other they end up in bed together. This pair was originally supposed to be just side dishes for Middle Love, but it seems they got their own series. Not sure if this is a lesson learned from Why R U?, a lockdown necessity, a shifting to an En of Love model, or if NetJames did so well in rehearsal they earned their own series. They are crazy beautiful together. Domundi will use these two to bring higher heat, just like they did with FighterTutor. This series could be good, especially as it is based on a book, so hopefully it has PLOT. James was Gui’s best friend in Oxygen and one of my top picks at the time to get his own BL. Net was an established actor prior to BL. I am VERY excited about this pair.

02.28 Tin Tam Jai (Thai - MFlow Entertainment) Gaga also iQIYI  Adorable Tin has a life-long dream to marry an older boy in his neighborhood, Park. Adaptation of y-novel of the same name, from same production co as Coffee Melody & Ai Long Nhai. I'll likely binge it.

Heart by Heart (Thai - Half Toast Production) YouTube  trailer. From the y-novel of the same name, the trailers are GOOD. I’m more excited for this one then I thought I'd be. Has a bit of Tasty Florida, bad boy/good boy, high drama going on. Stars all unknowns but they look like decent actors.

Jack Frost (Japan) After saying goodbye to his friend, Ritsu has an accident and looses his memory. His roommate, Ikuya, struggles to rebuild their relationship. In the process, Ritsu falls in love with Ikuya, unaware that they were already in a relationship.

Egoist (Japan) cinema - One of my absolute favorite Japanese actors Hio Miyazawa (from His the movie) has the lead in this movie adaptation of Makoto Takayama’s autobiographical novel Egoist. He’ll be opposite super famous actor Ryohei Suzuki. This is about an openly gay but vein and superficial man (Hio) who falls in love with a personal trainer (Ryohei) who is stuck taking care of his sick mother. It’s not BL, it’s gay coming of age and we can’t expect it to end happily. Still, I’ll probubly try to watch it. Japanese movies are notoriously difficult to get ahold of, tho.

Marry My Dead Body AKA Ghost and I Becoming Family (Taiwan) - police officer forced to marry a ghost.

I can imagine, that right after ship's crash, Mia wasn't yet compleatly desperate, so when Zoe started panicking, because of they situation, the whole SIT scene happened. Mia calmed her down and promised, that they gonna get out of this mess.

Tho by the end of the story, roles were reversed

Zoe paced the length of the trailer, Mia watching her closely. She’d tried her best to explain the situation to the poor girl. What Eveline was, what she was doing, why they couldn’t just run in there and kill the girl, even if they wanted to. It wasn’t doing much to calm the other woman’s nerves, and Mia couldn’t really blame her. She couldn’t imagine the feeling that came with taking in a little girl, only for her to seemingly tear apart your family.

A twinge of guilt hit her, but she kept a stoic face as Zoe paused in her stride.

“Th-This is fucked.” She stuttered, her breathing picking up. “This is so FUCKED!”

Mia pursed her lips. “Maybe you should take a moment-”

“Shut the hell up! This is your fuckin’ fault!” The younger woman yelled. Mia chose not to respond to that. “What the hell were you thinkin’?! Who the fuck makes a weapon like this?!” Zoe ran her hands through her hair.

“Just have a seat and we can-”

“Fuck you!”

Mia grabbed the woman by her shoulders, and pushed her into the dinette booth. “I said sit.” She hissed, keeping a hold on Zoe’s shoulders. There was a moment of awkward silence, and Zoe buried her face in her hands.

“This is fucked….” She repeated, and Mia sighed.

“I know….” She wasn’t entirely sure what to do. So she just kept talking. “But it’ll be okay. I promise. Help will come.. Eventually. Even if it doesn’t, Evie’s not going to live very long out here.” Zoe let out a series of sniffles as Mia knelt in front of her. “I promise, we’ll get out of this. You will get out of this. Okay? I’ll make sure of it. They aren’t going to hurt you more than they already have.” A slight smile crossed her face. “Not that a girl like you needs protecting.”

Zoe wiped her eyes with the heel of her palm, giving a soft laugh. “Well you’re right about that at least….” She gave another deep sniffle. “But what about…” Zoe looked to the trailer door. “Them?”

“As long as Eveline wants your family alive, they should be safe.”

“And after?”

Mia pursed her lips. “With any luck they’ll just… go back to normal after Evie lets them go.”

Zoe let out a sigh, then wrapped her arms around Mia in a hug. “Even if that’s all bullshit…. Thanks.”

“Anytime.” Mia returned the hug. “Just remember you’re not alone in this.”

“Neither are you.”

You rolled your eyes while looking out the car window at your mom’s comment. You were squished into the backseat, since the car was full of everything you owned. Your dog Ollie claimed the passenger's seat and is currently napping. 

“I think you’re going to like it here Y/N” your mom said while locking eyes in the rear-view mirror. You huffed at her words, “Yeah, not likely”. 

All you could think about was how angry you were at her for taking you away from home. The place you’ve grown up in. St. Petersburg, Florida. Home of the elderly. It was where you learned to swim for the first time. It was where all your sweet old neighbors were that always made you your favorite snacks. It was where your closest, and only, friend Kayla lived. 

You two met in second grade when she asked why you were so terrible at math. Both of you busted out laughing and you’ve been stuck at the hip since. She was average height, had extremely long, blonde hair, and was the most caring person you had ever met. Her days were spent working at the retirement home down the street or with you. When together, you two either just lounged on the beach reading, binge watched TV series, surfed, or got stoned. Kayla would talk anyone’s ear off about marijuana that would listen, but it kind of also became something that was a part of your normal hangouts.

“Y/N it’s going to be fine. I’ll come visit soon and we can video call everyday” your best friend said after you started crying telling her the news. 

“But-” you tried to make up excuses, but she cut you off. “But nothing. We’re best friends and a little distance won’t stop that. I know you're scared, but I promise you’ll be okay” Kayla said while wrapping you in a comforting hug.

After reminiscing on that sweet moment with your best friend, you were brought back to your anger. You knew your mom was bringing you to the Outer Banks because she wanted to come back to where she grew up. Your parents divorced a few months ago, and your dad moved to the west coast. He barely spoke to you now, not like you cared anyway; he was shit. Oh fuck. You silently cursed yourself for being such an ass to your mom. Of course she wanted to move. 

Welcome to the Outer Banks Paradise on Earth the sign read as it passed your window. You let out a long breath. It’s not that far from home. How bad can it be?

As the sound of the car’s brakes came to a screeching stop, you were in front of your new home. Well it's not the worst thing you’ve ever seen but definitely not as nice as your last home, you thought. You stepped out of the car to take in your surroundings. It was quiet. You liked that. 

You went back to the car to grab the first box, then heard someone yelling.

“Fuck you! I go to school more than you do!” a blonde boy screamed as he crashed out of your neighbor’s house. He glanced over at you for a moment and you locked eyes. It seemed that he was taking in your appearance, then he raised his eyebrows and continued to storm off. 

Wow. He was hot. He had a green hat on backwards with little pieces of his blond hair sticking out. You could tell by the way his shirt stuck to his body he was in shape. His boots looked like they used to be black but were now dirty. And his eyes were just so blue.

“I could get used to looking at that” you accidentally said out loud. “What was that?” you mom questioned. “Nothing, I didn’t say anything”. Your mom only shook her head in response and continued into the house. 

You plopped yourself down on the living room couch after spending all day unloading the car and the trailer attached to the back. “Mom, I think you’re breaking child labor laws”.

“Oh quit your whining. You know school starts in a few days, so we had to hurry” your mom scolded. Shit. You almost forgot about starting at a new school for your senior year. “Ughh, do I have to go?” She shot you a death glare and you slumped further into the couch.

The next day on the way to John B’s JJ couldn’t take his eye off your house and checking to see if you were visible. After making his way up the steps, he finally looked away and headed into the chateau. He made himself at home on the couch pushing his way in between Pope and Kie.

“JJ get off!” Kie yelled as she elbowed him to push him off her lap. Pope just stared at him exasperated. 

John B walked in after just waking up and walked to the kitchen to get water before speaking. “Hey, did you guys see that someone finally moved into that old house next door?” Kie responded first, “Yeah, I heard it's a new girl. I’m stoked”.

“She’s fucking hot so” JJ said through his juul smoke. John B snorted at his comment but didn’t disagree. “That’s all you would care about” Pope said. 

“Anyways. Do you think she’ll go to school with us? Kie asked. John B started to speak “Probably-” But then JJ interrupted “Why don’t you just go ask her? Can we do something else besides talk about John B’s neighbor? It’s the last day of summer.” 

They all agreed and headed out to spend the day on the HMS Pogue drinking beer and fishing.

Beep Beep Beep Beep. You smacked your alarm clock and groaned at the sight of the sun barely up. Unenthusiastically you drug yourself to the bathroom to shower. You put on your favorite black ripped jean shorts, a marvel t-shirt, and all white vans. Normally, you wear crop tops or tank tops, but you weren’t sure of the dress code. 

In the kitchen, you smelled breakfast cooking. Your mom was sweet like that, always making sure you had a cooked meal. “Good morning, sweetheart. You look so cute” you walked over and gave her a kiss on the cheek. “Thanks mom”. “I have to go so I’m not late for work, are you going to be okay getting to school on your own?” “Yes, it's just down the street” “Well okay, have a great day I love you” “I love you more, good luck at work”. 

Your mom had gotten a waitressing job at a place called the Wreck, that she said she used to love. It didn’t pay a whole lot, but it was enough for where you lived. After she left, you finished your breakfast and started your walk to school. 

During your walk, you got a text from Kayla. Have a good first day. Don’t be lame, talk to people. You smiled at the words and sent a heart back. 

As you neared the school, it got loud as tons of people’s voices were talking over each other outside. You walked past them all into the school to find the office. An elderly lady at the front desk helped you get your schedule and a map and sent you off. 

You can do this.

You started to hold the school map up searching for your first class, chemistry. Meanwhile, the halls started to fill with students, but you were too busy trying to read the hieroglyphs in front of you to notice. 

Suddenly, you were tripping over yourself and falling into the back of someone. “Oh, fuck I’m so sorry” you hurriedly rushed out. “It’s totally fine” a tan skinned curly haired girl giggled back at you. Then her eyes went wide “You’re the new girl! Hi, I’m Kiara but you can call me Kie”. “Hey, I’m Y/N. It’s nice to meet you”. “What class are you going to?” she asked. Scanning your list, you said “Chemistry with Mrs. Holland?” not quite sure if you were reading it right. She almost yelled an excited yes at you and grabbed your hand to pull you with her. “I’m in that class and so are my friends, you’re going to love them”. 

In the classroom, most people were already sitting down but Kie pulled you towards two seats in the middle. 

Once you settled in your chair, Kie started introducing you to her friends. She said the long-haired boy behind you was John. B your neighbor. The boy with a beautiful smile behind her is Pope. And the boy to your right is JJ. You looked over and locked eyes with the same blond from the other day. What are the odds. He gave you a half smirk that made you blush. “I’m Y/N” you introduced, and JJ looked you up and down like you were prey.

Fuck. This is going to be a long semester.
