The constellation on Vonu’s leg is one of my oc ones! I like to draw spirits with constellations, having unique stars for those they’re closer with, as a fun little detail; And I wanted to do the same for my ocs!

The first group is the theory crew using the Lepus constellation, and the second is the mentors using the Lupus constellation, Merivol and Tebukura don’t have one cause they’re a pair

I liked the idea of the names being similar and both being themed after an animal of one of the grpup members, owils a jackal not a wolf but erm. both doggy <3

FMA and Restorative Justice

One thing I’ve been obessed with thinking about is how the concept of “equivalent exchange” pertains to Roy and Riza’s character arcs.

Riza mentions how her and Roy are working towards dismanteling the power structure of the Amestrian government and reconfiguring it into a democracy, part of which includes her and Roy facing punishment for the war crimes that comittted in Ishval. This new government, because it is a “just” government, will see them as murders. And what’s not included but implied is that Riza believes she and Roy deserve the death sentence for their crimes. We even see this implication mulitple times in Riza’s arc- when Lust shows up and Riza cries to Alphonse to leave her because she believes in a world without Roy, she deserves death. In “Beyond the Inferno” she echos this sentiment. 

Part of me believes that this is not just simply because of their bond. Yes, Riza doesn’t want to live without Roy. But she also doesn’t see her life as one that is worth living (at least for the most part), and her main objective, the main reason she hasn’t ended things, is because she justice to be sereved to her and Roy.

I’ve seen and heard people argue that Roy and Riza do deserve the death penatly for their crimes. But is that really what Hiromu Arakawa is trying to tell us? The story starts with equivalent exchange, but does it end with equivalent exchange?

No, it doesn’t. Alphonse mentions the new concept that him and Ed are trying to impliment- the “equivalent plus one” type of exchange. And really, what value would Roy and Riza’s deaths add? It would be equivalent exhange, but it wouldn’t be the “equivalent plus one” type of exchange.

The truth is that Roy and Riza have expressed the desire to recostruct Ishval, which is what the series ends with them doing. While they have comitted atrocities, while they have killed, if they die, there is nothing they can put back into the world. There is no more good they can do, and their world is in desperate need of the good that each of them provide. 

Even when Roy is injured after his fight with Lust, even when Riza says she’ll end her life without him, Roy never wants to see that happen to Riza. He chides her and enforces the belief that Riza can’t ever give into that sort of despair. The sort of despair that maintains the philosphy of “dying for someone”. Because what narrative does Arakawa really push? She pushes the narrative that living for someone is more powerful of the two.

And that’s exactly I think she tries to push with Roy and Riza. Dying for their crimes is less powerful than living for the people they killed. Restorative justice enforces this concept. It provides emphasis on accountability- punishment can only go so far when it comes to healing. True healing comes from empathy, community building efforts, supporting the victims, and cultural competence. And I really believe that’s what Roy and Riza ultimately end up doing.

Unrecognized Talnet

For years, Willow struggled with her self-worth and self-esteem. Trapped in a track she hated, she was frowned upon her peers and teachers everyday. Her former best friend now bullied her every single day. She went a few years without anyone, before finally meeting Gus. The first person who didn't determine her value as a witch by her magical power. The teacher shamed and humiliated her everyday, and despite trying her hardest for years, she never got better. She kept failing.

Meanwhile, she had a natural talent for plants, but had to keep her talent and love for it a secret, as her dads had placed her in the abomination track. Forced to keep struggling when she could be succeeding, she doesn't want to disappoint one of the only people on her life who encourage her to suceed and that she can actually do this.

...yeah I just wanted to draw Willow by herself for once. But I always think about how miserable her life was after Amity's betrayal and wasting away in abominations. I fucking hate when people say that Willow going througb a little bullying isn't trauma and she shouldn't be upset because others had it worse. Fuck off with that shit. First off, dont compare people's trauma. That is gatekeeping and makes you look like an asshole. Second, having your only friend betray you, going on to bully you, on top of having no friends and everyone in your class hating you, takes a SEREVE mental toll on a child. (I would know.) Willow was alone for years until she met Gus, and thank Titan she met Luz, or else her true talent would've never been recognized. I appreciate Willow as a character representing such a realistic interpretation of what years of bullying does to a child. It's not pretty. This shit fucks you up for life.

A few adjustments later a putting a little a little hair on him makes him much more suited to be by your side.

The shirt barely fits but it is standard issue.

Tummy Troubles

Doing a little self-projecting on my Hunter here. I had some sereve stomach issues for like 3 weeks at the beginning of the year. Won't get into the details because it gets very graphic but it might've just been the worst pain of my life. I was legit screaming. So ofc I had to vent that pain onto Hunter lmao. I mean, what is having a comfort character if you don't project onto them?

Maybe because Hunter is cloned from a human some of demon realm foods upset his stomach. It would be kinda sad if he thought this was normal too. "Oh your stomach isn't supposed to feel like its killing you after eating *insert food here*? That's interesting,"

Maybe im stretching things though.

So yeah I originally was just gonna draw Hunter with a tummyache but my huntloser brain is like "MAKE IT HUNTLOW" so now its huntlow. Enjoy the fluff hehe.
