daily koss #29: if we only have one shot… better make it count, right?

Since I started on the 18th of February, today marks the one month anniversary of me drawing these wretched old men every day!!! I wanted to make something special for it, so I tried my hand at a comic (even though I am NOT good at comics—dear god, paneling is so unintuitive for me that I ended up wrangling this into a webtoon format just to avoid it).

Despite the increasing level of render and polish on my dailies over the past two weeks, this is the first time I’ve really, actually tried to flex my art muscles and apply my braincells to a piece 😂 Here’s to hoping my work paid off! I have now, officially, moved from low-effort shitposts to real-effort seriousposts 😔

(Also, if you’ve never read a webtoon before, hopefully the long-scroll format wasn’t too jarring! >_<)

A meta aspect I love about KOSS is that Transformers is a multi-timeline franchise: Knock Out and Starscream exist across multiple different continuities, sometimes alongside each other, sometimes not. But they only really ‘work’ in TFP, despite them both having other characters as constants (Breakdown, Megatron). If this were any other world, and they were any other versions of themselves, they might not even have been coworkers—just ships passing in the night.

And yet, the perfect storm of random events led to them being in one thing together, with a compelling dynamic at that (even an entire episode that puts it on blast!!!). Sometimes I think about how, according to the TFP artbook, Knock Out was originally conceived as something of a counterpart to Bumblebee—another fast, pretty car, except a villain this time—but the writers ended up fleshing out his relationship with Starscream the most. I wonder what the thought process behind that was—did the devs find their dynamic fun to play with as well?—and whether the two would get more moments together if Prime wasn’t cancelled…

But I digress! The fact I discovered TFP in the first place is the cherry on top of the serendipity-cake; I never imagined I’d ever get into Transformers, but one impulsive ‘hey, what if we watched the new Transformers movie’ from Lacuna at 3AM in the dead of January changed the trajectory of my life.

I’ve always been really bad at committing to projects for over a month at a time—I often find myself burnt out and restless after only a few days, even. So to still have so much drive and inspiration to create fanworks—for KOSS, of course, but an assortment of other pairings and properties too—is such a novel and exciting experience. My tune may change at a moment’s notice (I can be very fickle), but for now I’m eager to keep scribbling on 🥰I already have something planned for the next week of Daily KOSS hehehe~

My @isat-secretsanta-2024 gift for @pillowspace!! They said they’re fascinated by secret research lab AUs, and, in a case of incredible serendipity, that’s been my favorite trope since I was like 8 years old. So I may have gotten possessed and spent three weeks straight worldbuilding a whole entire thing.

So! This comic is my gift for Pillow, but I’m planning to write a fic set in the same AU eventually, titled Desperate Measures. It will take place in a modern day Vaugarde and focus on Odile, Loop, and Siffrin, alongside other more-or-less-familiar faces. And by “eventually” I mean this is now my highest priority project, but it’s big enough that it may be a couple months till I have anything else to show!

But however strange it seems, I can't think of any reason they'd have to lie about it. Why else all the NDAs? Why else contact me? So I must assume that it's true. That after years of trying to solve humanity's loss of color vision — a project that began long before I joined it, and that I expected to continue long past my time — I am about to simply be shown a perceivable color. That's the strangest part, really; that this breakthrough isn't related to the mechanisms of sight, but rather, the thing seen.

Golden maknae on Suchwita

This episode was filmed on the 27th June, a couple of days after the D-Day concerts in Seoul and just before Seven was announced on the 29th June.

Yoongi didn't waste any time to ask JK about a comment he made while watching Jimin on Suchwita. It was similar to JK's comment on Yoongi in the Seven MV recording video and on a recent live after he had been to the D-Day concert. JK finds Yoongi cute but not cool.

Yoongi though thinks JK is the epitome of genius and cool.

Jungkook admitted that if he hadn't found Seven he would probably still be enjoying his break.

But it has definitely spurred him into action and we can now expect quite a lot of new music from him before 2023 closes.

He's been getting in shape fort he promos.

It's kind of ironic that Suga was talking about being ill during his tour and then a few weeks later JK also suffered from a cold during his promotions in UK and USA.

Yoongi is always saying JK has grown up and this interview was no exception while JK echoed what he said in Beyond the Story talking about the influence the other members have had on him.

Whatever content he films JK always seems to include the key elements of food, drink and singing. His vlog last year is a prime example and today's Suchwita episode was no exception.

Let's face it Jungkook wore Yoongi out. This was the first time he left before his guest. His face here just sends me.

Jimin was mentioned a couple of times. Yoongi had been out drinking with him a few days before the recording and Serendipity played when JK and Yoongi are talking about BTS's current and future relationship with ARMY. Also JK's bottle ended up sitting on the shelf next to Jimin's.

Jungkook’s Itaewon penthouse thrummed with pre-concert energy by 4 PM. The open space blended sleek design with cozy chaos—windows framing Seoul’s skyline, takeout boxes and soju bottles strewn across the counter, BTS scattered over couches and chairs. Jungkook manned the kitchen, flipping bulgogi on a grill, while Taehyung lounged nearby, scrolling. Yoongi nursed a coffee, half-dead, as Namjoon and Destiny bickered over a playlist—her in his hoodie, him in sweats, both radiant. Lauren sat on a stool, smirking, Stacy’s shade buried in her mind.

Hobi and Lyric slipped in last, a quiet heat between them—her in his borrowed shirt, thighs peeking from shorts, him in a loose tee and cargos, hair damp. The room erupted—Jimin whistling, Jin clapping Hobi’s shoulder—but Hobi’s thoughts lingered on Lyric’s morning worship, her hands and lips still searing into him.

In the kitchen, Jin and Jimin cornered him as he grabbed a water bottle. Jungkook was focused on the grill, Tae distracted, giving them a hushed pocket. Jin leaned against the counter, smirking. “You’re glowing, man. Lyric’s got you good, huh?”

Hobi grinned, rubbing his neck, voice low. “You don’t even know. This morning—she literally worshipped me, hyung. Said it was her way to send me off for tonight’s show.”

Jimin’s eyes widened, leaning in, voice soft. “Worshipped you? We need details...”

Hobi’s grin turned sheepish, a flush creeping up. “She started with her hands—ran ‘em down my chest, kissed every inch like I’m sacred. Then her mouth—took me so deep I couldn’t think. Told me I’ll own the stage tonight, made me feel invincible.”
