I don't think yall realize that Guren would literally choose Shinya over ANYTHING. Look at him during the last couple chapters of Catastrophe at 16. Guren chose Shinya over the world, he chose to SAVE him over anything else.

Guren screamed and cried and mourned him over the others. He screamed his head off and almost let his demon take complete control.

And even during the resurrection process, Guren freaked out when the spell didn't work. The spell that he ended the world with, did not work to ressurect his best friend.

Guren, in a heartbeat, would choose Shinya over anything and anyone. Even Mahiru.
