Whatever did happen to the Soldier, anyway?

Y’know, instead of having me JUST complain about why i don’t like the direction of Tee K.O. 2, why don’t i actually talk about how i think they should’ve taken it? (As well as a personally better suggestion on how they could’ve celebrated their 10 year legacy with The Jackbox Party Packs)
I’ve just been all angry when it comes to the 10th pack and how especially awful the pack’s sequel treats both casual players AND fans, but i’m frankly tired of just airing out my frustrations! I want to add a bit more positivity by stating at least how i would’ve taken Tee K.O. 2, as well as taking it’s current direction and applying it in a less fan game-y way. If you’re interested in how i’d take the Tee K.O. 2, as well as how i’d take the concept of multiple Packs collaborating in one game: click “Keep reading”. It’s significantly more positive than my other posts about the 10th pack, that’s for certain!
So what i’d do for Tee K.O. 2 is that i’d play around with the fact that the Pack supports multiple languages, and have the sequel capitalize on that fact and embrace it! I present: Tee K.O. 2: World Tour.
Since the original is based around Japanese mythology and Yõkai, why not evolve from that concept? The shirt making tournament has moved from a National to International and there’s a bunch of players from around the globe wanting to bring home the title of victory!
Each player represents a different mythological creature from different parts of the world, like North Africa’s Were-hyena, Egypt’s Anubis, Philippines's Manananggal, Russia’s Baba Yaga, Mexico’s Chupacabra, and so on and so forth.
This would also explain why the original game’s Tournament Master isn’t hosting: because since the game no longer taking place in a national tournament, it wouldn’t make sense for him to still be hosting. So for a new host (or set of hosts for the other languages) to be in charge of the international league, it excuses the host’s absence without feeling like he was killed off!
It sounds like such an obvious step forward, so obvious that i came up with the idea back when i was making my own Jackbox Party Pack 10 concept years before it’s official announcement, but didn’t go through with it due to already having an idea for a sequel conceptualized. With hindsight: it would probably make me look like a prophet if i actually decided to go with my Tee K.O. 2 idea over Trivia Murder Party 3 and make the official Tee K.O. 2 look that much worse in comparison!
Now what would i do to celebrate The Jackbox Party Pack’s 10 year legacy? Well i’d move the 10th pack to next year! Because i don’t think a typical Party Pack would be able to fully capture everything without sacrificing it’s integrity.
So i’d make this year only have one game as an individual release...based on the Mario Party series!
Since Mario Party is about the Mario cast just having fun together in Party game filled with minigames, with several references to the games built into the mechanics; it would be PERFECT for an indulgent celebration of the Party Packs! ESPECTIALLY since the packs are based on BOARD GAMES like the Mario Party series!!
Because the hosts deciding that they had enough of hosting and to just goof off and have a little fun together this year, with a bunch of minigames referencing Jackbox Games’ history would make for an incredible love letter to the fans, as well as not be as blatantly alienating to casual players since “Hey, it’s a celebration, it’s to be expected that i’d be this referential to it’s history.” instead of just trampling on Tee K.O.’s integrity with really bad adaptions of character designs that can’t even reference their own games properly (i’m looking at you Quiplash player design and Alien victory animation).
What about the buildup? Simple! Show the minigames slowly throughout the year to generate enough hype for a board reveal! What are they based on? Well each of the pack’s boot-up screens of course! What about the hosts who don’t have bodies? Well there’s multiple ways to go about this: have them be hosts for their specific boards, allowing them to clash and bounce off each other like fans have been wanting for YEARS, or have them host minigames that reference the games that they are in. Or do both! Both is good.
Fans would go fucking crazy for something like that, and i doubt casual players would be against such a fun concept! Would it be bad? Considering how their Party Packs have been going, they’d probably fuck it up somehow, but i wanna be optimistic here and say that’ll at least be a fun novelty. And who knows? It’ll probably generate more hype for games that haven’t gotten much love and increase their chances of them getting a well deserved sequel!
And that’s what i’d do, what do you think? I’d love to know your opinions on my idea, what you’d do differently, and if you’d even prefer to have my idea over what we’re getting. I’d love to have a civil debate about it and i’m pretty open to hearing other people’s ideas!

Some more Wish 2 Concepts!
Tumblr media
Really love the idea of Asha’s magic being able to manifest with more control once she starts channeling her art skills into it. Like she struggles before, but once she starts drawing (pun intended) on her natural she starts bringing all sorts of amazing things to life to help aid her. A living representative of the magic of animators.
For Star I would bring back the shapeshifter idea for him while they’re in the Land of Dreams, he can take the form of different dreams he interacts with, as Wishes and Dreams are so connected.
And of course I had to do a little doodle of the moment Magnifico and Maroula first both realize the other is here in the Dreamlands, and that they’re on opposite sides of the conflict.
Tumblr media
Magnifico in his quest for vengeance has unknowingly aligned himself with his estranged daughter’s greatest enemy, and Maroula’s first site of her father after almost 100 years is seeing him ruthlessly attack her new friends—and aiding the dream eating Lamia.

It’s not a happy reunion by any means

So, uh...anybody here, who wants to see that flashback from Silver's past, we would have gotten, if the Treasure Planet sequel had been realized? No? Just me? Okay.
I wanted to do that character concept of young adult John Silver since I knew about the cancelled sequel. But I always felt like I would not be able to do him justice, because he is not an easy-to-draw guy.
Then, a few days ago, I just grabbed a few ref pictures and started with sketching the images on the second picture. It took me quite a while to get a hang of his features, but in the end I really do like my design and I had so much fun drawing his different expressions <3
I imagined him to be in his early twenties, when he still had both of his eyes and all of his limbs. And before his girlfriend left him, which ultimately lead him to become the pirate we all know.
Damn, I love this dude so much...and I still want this frickin' sequel!! But even more I want to see a whole movie about his past. That would be so intriguing and awesome! OO

since heartslabyul has a courtroom, i wonder if any of the students ever have danganronpa-style debates in there. stealing riddle's tart is tantamount to homicide (pre-overblot), so now it's the most convoluted debate ever just to prove your guilt/innocence. T_T

Details:
1940s Hans Christian Andersen shorts: Intended as animated segments within a live-action film about the author's life, these would have adapted The Little Mermaid, The Fir Tree, Through the Picture Frame, The Emperor's Nightingale, and The Steadfast Tin Soldier. (Yes, I know we got adaptations of several of these, but I still want to share the concept art for old versions).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Gremlins: A film they worked on a lot during WWII but couldn't crack the story (or find money to make it)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Don Quixote: They tried to adapt the story in various ways in the '40s, '50s, and '00s, which is too long to get into here, but it led to some interesting concept art.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Chanticleer: A story about an arrogant rooster who thought his crow made the sun rise, and used this to rule over the other farmyard animals. Reynard the Fox was a villain who tried to take advantage of the discontent in the farm animals to take over as their leader (with plans to eat them), which leads to Chanticleer saving them and learning humility. Work started on it in the 1940s, and it was so close to being made in the 1960s, but they decided to go with The Sword in the Stone instead. Some of the animators loved it, though, and some of the character concepts were later adapted into Robin Hood.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Catfish Bend: I haven't found much about the story beyond "talking animals in the South", but the concept art intrigues me. It would have been released in 1981, but after it was shelved, some of the concepts went on to inspire The Rescuers.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mistress Masham's Repose: An adaptation of T.H. White's novel, pitched in the late 1980s
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Fraidy Cat: 2009 film about a pampered housecat named Oscar who is falsely accused of kidnapping another pet and has to team up with a cockatoo and try to find the real culprit to clear his name. Shelved because they figured kids and general audiences wouldn't understand the Hitchcock references (which seems like a terrible reason, but alas).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
King of the Elves: Announced in 2009, it was a 3D animated film scheduled for 2012, before being shelved in 2016. Adapted from a Philip K. Dick story, it was about an ordinary man who saves some elves from a troll and (apparently reluctantly) gets declared their king.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Gigantic: A retelling of Jack and the Beanstalk set during the Spanish exploration, it involves Jack meeting an 11-year-old female giant who treats him like a doll, and eventually fighting much larger Storm Giants. Would have had songs written by the team from Frozen and was set to be released in 2018, then moved to 2020 before being cancelled because apparently they couldn't figure out the story.

Strange Magic sequel idea/concept that will never happen (bc the original movie didn’t do so hot and also i do not work in hollywood)
small warning, this is like the entire summary written out
Tumblr media
The Bog King and Marianne marry and combine their two kingdoms. Goblins and Fairies now live together, but there’s still a lot of tension between them. The only thing preventing them from clashing is their loyalty to their respected ruler.
This conflict mostly gets resolved with the birth of Bog and Marianne’s first child. Lets call the kid, Onyx (bc he needs a name). Onyx is beloved by both goblins and fairies alike, who see him as their true uniter and a bridge between their two very different worlds. He helps them to see themselves as equals and learn to coexist as one kingdom.
Meanwhile, Roland looks into a mirror and is freed from the love potion spell (his one true love is himself). After coming out of the daze and learning what’s become of the fairy kingdom, he quickly devises a plan to break up the now combined kingdoms.
Tumblr media
This, of course, involves kidnapping the beloved prince who unites them. He plans it at the little prince’s first birthday party. Chaos ensues. Something goes awry and the “failed” kidnap results in the kingdom all thinking the prince is now dead. This assumption is amplified with the small wings of the prince being found at the scene of the crime (a protagonist with some type of disability is interesting imo, plus it’s important to the plot). The thought is that some larger creature ate him (and maybe that is how both he and Roland get their injuries).
Roland doesn’t get caught and isn’t the presumed kidnapper. In fact, he’s hurt badly in the confrontation, leading him to flee now heavily scarred, turned “ugly,” not knowing and not caring about what happened to the prince.
The kingdom turns on each other: the goblins think the fairies did it, claiming they can’t stand having a half-goblin heir; the fairies say the goblins did it, thinking they might have gone back to their “savage” ways.
Tumblr media
Soon after, it is shown that their son is not in fact dead but rather “lost.”
His disappearance is easily explained with him falling through the cracks between the two kingdoms, literally. Somewhere along the border there is a deep crack that is off limits/folklore to goblins and fairies. This is where the gnome creatures live.
Neither of the kingdoms know this, because the creatures remain hidden, anonymous. Like with the goblins and fairies, everything beyond the darkness is off limits/folklore to them. But they provide “offerings” to goblins and fairies, which is something like coal for fuel and diamond for currency (things that affect their livelihood/economy, but the gnomes do it as a way to appease the “gods” who are really just goblins and fairies). They view Onyx’s abrupt arrival as a task from the gods to raise him as one of their own and learn the ways of the gnome people.
Flash forward to present day:
The kingdoms are more divided than ever. Marianne closes off on everyone and everything, leaving an equally grief-stricken Bog to rule basically both kingdoms alone (with the fairy kingdom not really liking him/disobeying his orders because, in their eyes, he’s not their leader).
Tumblr media
Roland remains hidden in the shadows, too fearful of the way he looks to enjoy the kingdoms being divided again. His self-hatred turns to hatred toward others and he vows revenge, but doesn’t know where to start.
Meanwhile,
Onyx is a rambunctious kid with a skill for climbing steep things, such as the walls leading up to the outside world. He works with the gnomes to help mine coal and things, but is often bored of the work mentality. The constant “go! go! go!” is too much and goblins and fairies unintentionally pressure them to keep moving (again, without them knowing the gnomes are down there).
But he’s seen as the gnomes’ protector. And when one gnome nearly falls to his death after lurking too close to the edge, it’s Onyx who takes the lead and rallies all of the other gnomes to work together and save him.
He’s not allowed to climb too far up the wall (both because of the risk of falling and because the outside people are presumed dangerous), but his curiosity gets the better of him one day and he climbs to the very top, only to witness creatures who look just like him. He sees creatures flying and understands the scars on his back were once wings.
Curiosity gets the better of him and he wanders into a nearby village where he sees the things the gnomes work hard to mine being used for their pleasure. A rage fuels him at the very sight. It is in every way an injustice.
Roland spots the lost prince during his trip to the village and plans out his revenge on him, coming to the conclusion everything bad that’s happened to him started with his unsuccessful plot to kidnap him. He follows him. (He’s a drastically different, more evil guy than he was in the original movie here: the point of no return kind of different.)
Onyx returns to the gnome creatures quickly to express his anger: how it’s all a lie and how the creatures above live leisurely while they’re stuck down under working for them in the mines.
Tumblr media
The gnomes begin an uprise with the encouragement from the lost prince. They take control of the elf village he visited simply by luck (catching everyone off guard at a party), but understand anything beyond that they will be easily defeated. Onyx, a warrior at heart but with little battle experience, is still encouraging them to try.
The Bog King hears word of this mysterious uprising and quickly flies out there to handle it. A fight ensues with Bog (and his army) easily outnumbering the gnomes. But he freezes at the sight of the one gnome out of place—his son, instantly recognizing the face. Onyx, recognizing Bog only as the leader of the tyrants enslaving the gnomes, throws a sharp object at his wings while he’s halted. And Bog comes tumbling down, his wings severely damaged. The gnomes capture him and drag him down into the crack to hold him hostage.
Tumblr media
While down there, Bog is shown the hardships that the gnome people face and agrees something must be done about it.
Later, he and Onyx have a moment where he reveals that he is his father (after he’s absolutely certain this boy is in fact his lost, presumed dead son). His son is resistant to accept the news, and even more resistant of the fact that Bog wants to now take him away from the gnomes and live with the creatures above. He pulls away from his father’s touch, claiming he belongs down here with the gnomes.
Marianne, after learning of her husband’s capture, awakens from her fog and flies up with a fury to rescue him.
By then, Bog is no longer a prisoner and climbing (due to his wings being damaged) with some gnomes up the wall to return to the outside and settle this dispute once and for all. Onyx, despite Bog’s encouragement, does not go up with him.
Later, Onyx has a change of heart (probably after a gnome elder talks with him about it) and he begins his climb to catch up with them. But Roland gets to him first and kidnaps him (again).
Bog hears his panicked call and quickly moves into action to rescue him. Marianne, who hears it too in the middle of kicking gnome butt in the village, moves toward the chaos. They all find themselves near the edge of the crack with Roland threatening to drop the wingless prince. Finally, it’s revealed he is the one who did it all those years ago.
And Roland gives some long speech about never meaning any true harm, that it just all got out of hand, and that he just wanted true love but can’t now because of the way he looks. He holds Onyx’s arm as he speaks, his grip slowly loosening with the threat of dropping him in. Bog, in a panic, is trying to convince him to move away from the edge, that Onyx is innocent in all this. But Roland refuses to listen.
Marianne, witnessing all of this somewhere nearby, moves into action. She hits Roland, who loses his grip on Onyx. Bog flies with damaged wings to catch him before he falls into the darkness.
Tumblr media
A fight ensues between Roland and the king and queen. Fairies and goblins alike witness this, their leaders’ first fight together in years. Somehow Roland’s wings get damaged, leading him to hang off the edge with no way of getting himself up. His hands are slipping and he’s pleading for the king and queen to show him mercy. Both Bog and Marianne are unwilling to help, wanting him to fall to his death; he was the cause of all their pain, after all.
Onyx quickly moves into action, rallying the gnomes to work together and save him (just like at the start), much to everyone’s surprise. They’re able to lift him to safety. Roland is crying out his gratitude as Stuff and Thang apprehend him with some fairytale version of handcuffs. Everyone looks to Bog for his sentencing, thinking execution is what he’ll go for. He approaches the fairy with gritted teeth. He wants to attack him, but holds back: “My son deems ya worthy of livin’, so you’ll rot in my dungeon fer the rest of yer days.” Or something like that, idk.
The story concludes at yet another birthday party where the gnomes coexist now with the fairies and goblins, learning how to stop worshipping them as these otherworldly beings. Maybe Griselda takes advantage of their innocence and puts them to work, making them be her chair and hold her drink for her while she sips it. And Dawn has to interfere by scolding her, releasing the gnomes from duty. Bog and Marianne have a heartfelt moment alone and then with their son. And also maybe it’s shown that in the dungeon Roland finds love/friendship somehow with the imp (who, of course, is in prison too), again idk.
The kingdom is once again at peace. The story ends.
Anyway, that’s my idea. It’s very different from the enemies to lovers plot in the first movie, but i still think it’s a cool/interesting idea to explore. Too busy with real life to write this fanfic out fully, so you get this instead.

Wish 2: The Land of Dreams
Did some designs for how our main characters would appear in my hypothetical sequel. First and foremost of course we have Asha and Star, both learning to come to grips with being Magical/Human Shaped respectively, and seeping their relationship as they journey together through the ever shifting Land of Dreams on the Quest Queen Amaya gives them to find the long lost heir of Rosas…
Tumblr media
Then there’s the Heir herself, Princess Maroula. A powerful sorceress in her own right, who a century ago defied her father to undertake her own Quest at the behest of The Blue Fairy, to protect the Land of Dreams against a the fearsome Lamia. For wishes and dreams are deeply connected. Maroula has made many allies in the Dreamlands, but her closest is the magnificent stag Selenos. Together they’ve managed to keep Lamia’s corruption at bay, but no one can battle forever…
Tumblr media
And Lamia has recently found herself a new ally, one as deeply connected to dreams and wishes as her enemy is, and the best bet she has at finally overcoming Maroula. Of course the desperate, angry ex-monarch she plucked from the liminal slack of a mirror prison doesn’t need to know the foe she’s using his power to fight is his own daughter. Especially not when a couple of his own hated enemies show up at just the right moment to focus his attentions…
Tumblr media
And that’s what I’ve got atm!
