“Leave me alone, Potter,” Regulus snapped, watching James through his peripheral vision.

“Just tell me why you left, and I will.” James sounded awfully sincere. Something Regulus has only heard once before. Something that cracks the already broken walls of Regulus’ mind.

It was just the two of them, the room of requirement as always. But it had been months since they’d last been here. Months since they’d even been in each other’s general vicinity, if Regulus could help it.

He’d had the scary realization of something he never thought he was capable of, so Regulus did the only thing he knew how to. He ran.

I love you, he thought, the pathetic need to say it out loud was palpable. But how was he to know James wouldn’t just throw him away? That he wouldn’t be just like everyone else he’s ever let himself love?

“Why do you want to know now?” Regulus can’t help but ask. He makes the mistake of looking into James’ eyes.

James looks at him with soft eyes, the kind that have been crying for far too long. “It keeps eating at me. And I don’t even know why you left in the first place.” His voice cracks, fists clenched. It stings much more than Regulus would admit.

Regulus opened his mouth, closed it. This could ruin him. Ruin his life.

But this was James. The kindest person Regulus has ever known. Too kind that it scared him.

“I love you,” Regulus said, barely a whisper, as if scared at his own realization.

James looked at him sadly. “Why did you leave, then?”

“It’s the only thing I know.” Normally, he wouldn’t say these words. Normally, he wouldn’t be saying any of this out loud but there’s something magnifying about James. Something safe that Regulus has never felt before and it’s this wonderful, wretched feeling, but above all, he’s scared. Scared of what it means. Scared of what would happen if James left. It’s pathetic, and weak, and so unlike him and he hates it. James is right here, looking at him through his soft brown eyes and Regulus can’t help it. He can’t help but feel everything. All at once. It’s overwhelming. It’s unlike anything he’s felt, or rather, not felt.

James makes a muffled keening noise, and steps a little closer to Regulus, arms outstretched. “Can I?”

Regulus’ lip twitches as he inclines his head slightly.

After months of not letting himself feel, months of holding himself back convinced there was nothing good this world could give him, much less James. Months of pretending nothing affected him around the only person who’s always managed to make him feel something. James was just too nice, and Regulus was just too naive. But here they are. James held him like he was precious. Like he was the best thing that could ever happen to him. Here, Regulus knew, in some spiritual way, that he was safe. Maybe not before, maybe not later, but he’s safe right now. And that’s all it takes. He let it all out. In the embarrassing form of tears. James didn’t say anything. Didn’t point it out, didn’t try to comfort him. He let Regulus just be.

The only person who’s ever done this was…Sirius. And now he hates Regulus. Hates Regulus for not running away with him, for being the perfect son and being so naive. For a while, Regulus hated himself, too, and then there was James.

James who had inspired a spark of hope in the ashes Sirius left behind.

Regulus thought, for a moment, that maybe Sirius could come back. Maybe he could fix things. Maybe he should just run away and they’d magically get better.

Regulus thought, in the safest place he’s ever been, that maybe everything was going to be alright.

First of all OH MY GOD. WOW!!! This Japanese BL (ongoing) drama is on a whole different level. If you are looking for something hard-hitting, realistic, serious and a bit underground, this is the right for you. But when I say serious, I warn you, like really SERIOUS 🚨 This is not a romantic comedy genre.

P.S: If you have any childhood trauma, there are plenty of triggers in this series.

The acting is amazing, the story is very deep, even the intro of the series is not ordinary. There are only 2 episodes left until the series finale but I expect a happy ending for both main characters… The name of the series should give this answer!!!

Your heart might break into pieces while watching this and I'm serious about it, no more spoilers 🤐😔
