Okayyy. I think the article's author doesn't get the point of cats (whose behavior, regardless of whether it is actually "loving" or not, resembles human affection sufficiently to be recognized as such by humans). I think it's weird that the line between cats and emotionally unavailable men is drawn in bold, rather than the squiggly "it kinda looks similar viewed from a certain angle" line that I would make.

Like, I'm working with a foster cat right now who is skittish as all hell and needs to be caught and crated 2x weekly for veterinary treatment. And despite coming home literally soaked and smelling of sulfur, despite me being the one who caught him and sent him off to be soaked, *he still comes to me.* I'm working with him to get him to "like"/tolerate the crate better so he doesn't run and hide as soon as he sees it, but...the point is, this ridiculous creature *trusts* me, despite an obvious association with a negative stimulus. What else can you call that but love?

That stupid post about why women and queer people love cats has still got me all fucked up because like a cat is a small animal that is wholly reliant on you it can’t live in your home without your permission and you have to actively and willingly keep it there and this chucklefuck is mad that this animal, that has no decision making power over its own life, doesn’t adequately return the “emotional labor” of being cared for as if the cat understands feminist theory or philosophy in general.

Like the cat weighs seven pounds, you can cut his balls off, and you literally legally own him. If you don’t like having him around you can easily remove him. You aren’t in an abusive financially dependant relationship with him because he’s not a grown human man its a CAT

I dreamed i was at a weird version of rebecca spit and i was pointing out squatters to my mom and then we rounded the corner out of the woods and were in brentwood on a skiff and i saw a tower of bags of cans on a dingy and there were lots of big boats around and one was like an aircraft carrier and people in tac gear were being lifted on to it but one guy fell in and was sinking and i was swapped with someone working the line and jumped in to get him

I also dreamed i was staying in a weird empty version of my hs bedroom that was also sort of an apartment somewhere in a converted hospital, garrett was there and we were like rehashing our breakup or something? Then garrett was gone and luke was there and we were having a mostly nonverbal convo about Luke's relationship status and our friendship and he said "its so good working with you". Then i had this like random black blogger girl roommate and we were like on vr tumblr, and dealing with people in nearby rooms? And i was like involved in some ongoing situation somewhere else, like there was an outside and a different building where stuff relevant to me was happening, it seemed very serious. Back in the apartment it became more like a hospital, like id been convalescing there and was in bandages, but then someone started to talk to me from the other location, like a phonecall, about how I was being recruited into a midlevel government job in this like quasimasonic new world order where every official was secretly appointed to a life post, and then i was wearing a grey suit with a sheen and texture to it, like silver gabardine or semiraw silk? and the guy was asking me how many blunts i smoke a day and i said "three" unconvincingly and he was like "threeee?" And i was like "maybe six"

(And like in the dream i thought that but awake i recognize that i smoke like 1 blunts worth of weed a day)
