OK so... I went back on what I said and started messing with Sims 2 >_>;  Been having a rough couple of weeks and it turns out troubleshooting is a good way to distract the mind.

I’ve got it working initially:  game loads, neighborhoods load, lots load.  Haven’t actually played, so it stands to be seen if I will get random crashing or pink soup.

Added my download folder back in and...

I WAS UNDER THE IMPRESSION THAT PC SPECS WOULDN’T AFFECT LOAD TIME FOR MODS??

Man, my game loaded in, like, 2 minutes??  It used to take 10??

Still got all that messing around with the installation file stuff to do.  Clean templates and all that fun stuff.

well its part of the job so whether he likes it or not hes travelling 🧍‍♂️ he enjoys visiting new places see new things so he definitely doesnt mind :-) if he could he would cosy up in bed at his childhood room and stay there forever tho

also semi related: when he was little he was sooo scared of planes... still gets a bit irked on longer flights esp when he cant fall asleep... need someone by his side at all times maybe holding his hand too like bro youre twenty-one and drive fast cars for a living get a grip. grow up

this is the type of stuff i always forget to put thought into... an ocs job is to be haunted by the narrative they dont get to have hobbies

anyway hes lowkey ass at it but marci enjoys cooking! always tries to bake something when hes visiting his sisters (i think he should have an anonymous insta account for his cooking that has like 3k followers and everyone in the comments thinks its run by a british geezer)

actual hobby is like playing video games. when hes not sim racing hes on fortnite obliterating thirteen year olds in the gaga skin or smth

his one-year-old niece doodled the tattoo he has on his thigh! he got it touched up but wants his next tattoo to be a one to one copy of whatever his niece draws for him :-)

Cozy Castle Townhouses

So I'm more of an aspiring builder, but as one step in the pursuit of non-perfectionism I've still decided to share my random and mostly semi-finished stuff around here ^^ (Please excuse the bad screens, I'm still figuring out how to do this.) Today: Three fancy-ish townhouses based on (and including) a renovated version of the Cozy Castle bin lot.

I've made two families who I want to live here and furnished one and a half (like I said, semi-finished) apartments specifically for them, while leaving the third one empty. More pictures below :)

The one on the right is the unfurnished one, I decorated only the porch and little balcony. Thinking maybe a wholesome young couple.

The one on the left is the most fleshed-out, but the inhabitants' story isn't exactly a nice one: Nils had only recently moved into town with his fiancée and her son Ezra, when she suddenly died in a tragic accident. Even if he'd accepted the role of Ezra's father figure as part of his marriage to come, had things been different he honestly would never have wanted any children... And now he's here with this kid who isn't even his, whose mother they both mourn, completely at a loss. Watcher knows none of this is the boy's fault and Nils tries to be a dad, he really does, but it's hard. Every little thing about this place they had planned to call home reminds him of his loss.

Their place is pristine, very bright and clean, for the most part.

Little Ezra has never talked (or cried) a lot or made much noise in general, but give him a crayons, a brush and paint, or a simple pen and you can keep him occupied all day - even if he may take to use the actual house as his canvas. He may not have known Nils for long but has nevertheless developed a fierce, if quiet, loyalty to him: His mother had told him he was family now, so family he is. He doesn't call him 'Dad' as he's not sure he'd appreciate it, but is nevertheless determined to carry him through these dark times. Family always sticks together, right?

Nils is - or used to be - a martial artist by profession, winning sizeable tournament prizes on the regular. He can't stand to be around people as of now but exercising is still about the only thing to keep his mind off of ... everything else.

This ground floor room used to be a temporary nursery for the boy until he was big enough to have his own room; it became a storage space, for lack of a better term, after that. Old, no longer needed furniture, clutter, and memories are catching dust in here, and some nights Nils locks himself in here, smoking away the hours until it's time to wake Ezra up for school. He'll clean this place up, soon ... for sure. Until then, he keeps the door locked at all times. The boy doesn't need to see this.

The middle one (the actual Cozy Castle) is ... something else. Semi-furnished for a very specific household with a very specific taste. The neighbors tend to be wary of this lot, to say the least.

Downstairs: Kitchen/dining and little office area. Sparsely decorated as of yet, but you get the idea. ^^

Upstairs so far. The first lab/darkroom-ish bedroom belongs to Scarlet, the actual tenant, while the second bedroom is currently used by her two more or less welcome but very eccentric "houseguests" (who seemingly have no intention of leaving anytime soon...). Dorian and his son Oscar bicker like a couple of married romance sims, and most fights seem to be related to their mutual vanity: Oscar can't stomach the fact that his father manages to look younger than him, and Dorian misses no opportunity to rub it in his face. Scarlet just houses them because their sire demanded it via handwritten letter from overseas, but she has come to think that he, too, might have lost his mind a little.

Asks Open

Hey guys! I'm soon going to be back in Uni and won't be able to do long posts like fanfics, headcanons, and the Sims 4 thing I have going on. But I want to be semi active with this blog, so I can do asks for the time being since they're not time consuming. I'm fine with asks relating to the Real Ghostbusters and other media listed in my blog description'; stuff like 'Thoughts on X', character headcanons, etc. Not really comfortable with asks about myself right now (since I'm an introvert), but may come around in the future.

Last song: Ohhh currently i'm listening to Mother Mother - End of Me. My fave from that album! Just the whole message and the beats and the vocals rly do it for me. And in the wise words of a youtube commenter: "The enemy, the anime, the end of me"(referencing the chorus just repeating the name of the song lmao).

Favorite Color: Man, it's really quite hard to choose a favorite honestly. Especially as an artist I just like combos more than colors by themselves. Usually I say blue (specifically cyan) and pink. If you google Ori Will of the Wisps Luma pools thats like my ideal color palette.

Last Book/Fic: My latest read was Dreams of the Downside by my friend VonVenerables! Latest chapted made me feel a lot of feels ohhhh. Also, surprisingly fitting with my latest musings abt meaning of life and death and stuff (i guess it's semi-related to the chapter itself, but they're there in spirit!).

Last Movie: Man, it really has been a while sincei've watched any... The latest I can remember is Inside out 2 i think??? Great movie! Recommend to anyone who has anxiety and doesn't quite know how to deal with it (it doesn't really give you ways to manage it per se but it gives a perspective on things i think).

Last TV Show: Also been a while since i've watched any... Prooobably Blue eye samurai? (it's been months since I've finished it but shush lmao). One of the best tv shows i've ever watched! Just, perfect, especially on the writing and visuals department. It'd even argue it's better than most shows with real-life actors! (I could get into why but it's better i not spoil anything hehe)

Sweet/Savory/Spicy: Oh man i have a huuuge sweet tooth, sugar is so unhealthy but so good... I've been trying my best to cut down on some of it but it's been hard ;(

Last Thing I Searched For Online: Apparently it's "homestuck wq" because i got it on a homestuck character wheel thing (turned out wq is white queen and i had no idea, fake fan umu)

Current Obsession: I mean, Pyre's been my obsession for years now lmao, and still is, just maybe not as strong as before, or maybe im dabbling in other things on the side. More of a recent obsession could be uhhh The sims games? (the sims 2 and the sims 3 specifically) I WANT TO PLAY THE OLDER SIMS GAMES SO BAD THE NOSTALGIA....

I’ve got to ask, why did you choose those specific characters for the dating sim??? I mean, a lot of the team have said they don’t like Vikare, Chixie is already in a relationship in FS2, and there’s not much bloodcaste diversity. Mallek and Lanque are obvious choices but why everyone else???

HEAVY SPOILERS AHEAD!

A few comments on that (this is Jonaya speaking, who wrote the entirety of TechniColor Heart):

None of the stuff in TechniColor Heart is directly related to the actual canon of Friendsim 2 (beyond the Dream taking inspiration from MSPAR's subconscious in certain areas) - like, these are explicitly different people (they're presented as humans, with human backstories). There's a ton of non-canonical lore introduced that while it sometimes kinda touches on FS2 canon (Lynera's crush on Bronya, Mallek does computer stuff, Cirava is a streamer) it also often doesn't (Chixie being Jewish, Cirava being from Tennessee, Lanque's relationship to his parents, Marsti being a former soldier, etc.) Also, because of the fact that they're being read as human, the blood color stuff is basically not a thing here - it has to do with their personalities as people and role in the story. The only meaningful bit of color stuff (outside of being used for aesthetics) here is Maria's being purple because of her connection to Gl'bgolyb.

While a few of the team have said they don't like Vikare as a character (or at least said he's kind of a nothing character in the original - which, like, he gets one of the shortest routes and never shows up again), I think that got turned into "y'all hate Vikare!" which is... not exactly accurate (if that were true, he wouldn't be in the game). He's got a role in the story the same as anyone else, and while he doesn't get much direct focus in the main Friendsim 2 canon, he's got more dialogue in the game than, say, Folykl or Kuprum!

Chixie can be in a relationship in the FS2 canon, but that's not set in stone! That's actually reactive to a series of choices involving her and Elwurd.

That being said, here's the reasoning behind them all! Most of them have some connection to how the Dream basis itself off what MSPAR wants, with a couple wildcards that exist because of para-narrative reasons (i.e. "I wanted to put them in" reasons).

Mallek: Given the role of the Dream, it makes sense that he's a romance option, since there's some level of an implied flushed crush between him and MSPAR (in Friendsim 2 especially).

Lanque: He was someone that MSPAR could canonically have a relationship with in the first game, again playing into the Dream picking up on subconscious desires or previous canon/semi-canon events.

Vikare: There have been a couple very vocal fans of Vikare - and while his role in the main story is the way it is for narrative reasons, I wanted to acknowledge that there's a segment of our fandom that really likes him. Specifically, wanted to give his TH version the same level of depth and development as anyone else. Think of it as a the Dream referencing metanarrative events.

Chixie: Another character MSPAR has a more-or-less canonical relationship with (as a moirail). She's presented as demi and is the only character you can't actually have sex with, hinting at the connection between her role as MSPAR's moirail in the canon world.

Skylla: Another character MSPAR can get very close to in the first game, physically (sharing the slime bath in her original Friendsim route) and the first character MSPAR meets in Friendsim 2 who expresses concern for them (urging them to get out before they get killed).

Lynera: One of the real wild-cards here, since her relationship to MSPAR isn't especially closer than a lot of other characters. The real secret here is para-textual: Lynera is probably Jonaya's favorite character, so you get to date her!

Xefros (stand-alone only): This is less about the role of the Dream (since it's in the stand-alone mode) and more about wanting to give Xefros some more screen time.

Marsti (stand-alone only): Also outside of the Dream, Marsti is part of the whole fucked-up Absent Place storyline, and her romance plotline is kinda fucked up and dysfunctional. Gotta include at least one absolutely messy storyline in the game, after all.

As far as the reasoning behind the non-dateable characters who have questlines:

Cirava: One of MSPAR's close friends and an important confidant in the main storyline. Picked partly to have them bounce off of Mallek in their storyline, partly because they fit well into the "streamer who spends most of their time inside" archetype and I wanted there to be a consistent touchstone in the form of MSPAR's roommate.

Elwurd: She had "lesbian BFF" energy - someone who MSPAR is cool hanging out with, but she tends to push people away in the FS2 canon in particular. This gets developed if you do her questline.

Aradia: One of the characters we see with metanarrative awareness at times, so she made sense to help guide MSPAR out of the Dream. Also, she was one of the sprites made for another game that could be re-used.

Maria (depends on whether you're in stand-alone mode): In the Dream, Maria (whose sprites are from another game that our Studio stopped development one) represents Gl'bgolyb, hence her vastly different appearance. In the stand-alone mode, she's got her own character and plotline that ties into the Absent Place storyline.

Tyzias (stand-alone only): Given her role in canon, it made sense to have her and Stelsa as FBI agents investigating the murder of Cridea Jeevik. A fair amount of Twin Peaks references with her too.

Ardata (stand-alone only): Needed someone kinda fucked up - originally was gonna be more-or-less a Twin Peaks reference as well, but ended up developing into her own thing. Also her role in the history behind the Absent Place plot ties into her FS2 canon role in the Alternian military.

personal update :)

I want to start by saying that I appreciate you all so much, whether you are followers, mutuals, just casually lurking around, dropping by every 2 months, or regularly engaging, thanks for being around, it means a lot! 💜 More personal stuff follows below :)

Soo... I'm still pretty quiet, huh.

I guess I am on a semi-hiatus, I still drop into tumblr and try to see what's new with other simblrs, but I do not have to share much on my own blog for now (but that could also change quickly again, depending on my mood).

A lot of my family members' birthdays are in April and May so I've been busy on that front. Today was nice, we enjoyed my mum's yummy strawberry cake for my dad's birthday :)

My brother introduced me to a new game that we can play together, No Man's Sky. Part of me is fascinated by it, and part of me is annoyed because it's pretty grindy and I hate repetitious gameplay. I've been investing a lot of time in the last few days to achieve some things, but I just realized how much time is actually needed to make it anywhere in the game (but there are a lot of ways to do stuff, so maybe there is a better way than what I've been doing as a noob). I just need to be careful not to spend too much time on it. I'm also working on a project that's sims-related, but it will take some time before I can unveil it. I am proud to say that I have been making some progress in battling my anxiety regarding Covid. In Germany, the pandemic has been officially called over and we are not required to wear masks basically anywhere anymore. My initial reaction was "well, tell that to the virus!". Of course, we can still get sick and we have no way of knowing who might be sick, other than people coughing/sneezing/ showing obvious symptoms. But I've been to several places without a mask now (something I could not have dreamed of doing 2 months ago), including a restaurant, a supermarket, and a shopping center. It still feels weird not wearing a mask! In my head, I pretend that it is pre-covid and that helps a little. It also feels weird to still wear a mask when nobody around you does now, so it's tough either way. I still keep my distance though and if someone coughs or sneezes I'm outta there in an instant... and I think if/when I use public transportation, I would definitely wear a mask again. I am not comfortable sitting in tight spaces with others yet (even with a mask). Do you guys feel weird/vulnerable too without a mask?

you have various modern-y weapons like knives, pepper spray, taser stuff, maybe a gun as an exclsuive upper item, stealth cld be a notably beneficial thing by making the average enemy's build be notably physically stronger than nyou, alongside just the benefits of being able to sneak into nyour crush's home, nyou cld also have semi-demonic dark gods nyou can contact to help nyou in nyour protection quest, maybe nyou need to eat an onigiri or late-toast to maintain nyour energy? :3

So, I have been busy making poor monetary choices again, in which I now own two different types of tablets specifically for art (ONE WAS VERY MUCH ON SALE, THE OTHER HAD A 50 BUCK COUPON, BOTH GOOD REVIEWS), and the first tablet I bought, that's honestly just a way of adding a touchscreen to a computer to me, cause like. It's a sensor pad? Well, it's proving that I can't mentally make myself apply a lot of pressure to technology, which my younger self with a ruined dsi touch screen would gape at. I have also gotten all my shelving units up! Not sure if they're staying where they are, or if I'm gonna move them around again, but I do know two that are staying where they are, mainly cause I am /not/ lifting that shelf all the way back up to chest level to take it back down again. Nuh uh, no ma'am, it will not be done. It's also gotten all my collectibles on it already, which has proven that I need to devote more of my budget to the Twins than Screamer. My frenemesis would be delighted to see my failure to my simpees.

Work has been better! Still hot, but we've slowed /way/ down, which means my supervisor has been letting me goof off on my phone or writing, cause we physically can't work too hard in the heat, but we also have no orders anyway, so... And because we've been able to get paid Not Working, I have gotten back into a werewolf story I started writing months ago! I'm setting it up one shot style rn, and posting the chapters as my brain accepts my pleading for their creation, but I also intend to make it a full and proper story once I've worked all the one shots out. I will openly admit to it being complete self service, cause I want a best friend who's 8 feet tall, fluffy, and has a crappy sense of humor. And is a cuddle monster, though that one is mainly cause I love glomming full force onto my people and displaying my awkward affection. I'm like a peacock, but instead of flaring tail feathers, I hug people in front of other people, whilst not actually really knowing socially accepted norms for hugging friends, tbh.

I also went through and completely reorganized my phones gallery, and got a very stupid laugh outta it. I have 461 transformers related pictures, and almost 400 writing prompts. Just. Saved on my phone. If I ever lose this sim card my writing career that i don't actually have will be over. On another other note semi related, I have been asked to design a friends tattoo! I don't know if I mentioned that in my last ask. He asked me to draw him a dragon to get tattooed, which, to be fair, dragons are among one of the very scant things I can draw well reliably, but also, dragon proportions curled into a ball sleeping are kicking my ass, and I am debating getting out my giant sketchpad to be able to completely control every tiny eetsy beetsy detail, cause my close friend wants me to do this thing that will permanently be on his body, and I really desperately don't wanna mess it up... Cause like. No one has ever asked me to ///draw/// for them before. I've gotten asked to paint, or do some small stuff with watercolors, but never /drawing/. And he knows I love dragons, it's part of why he asked. I just. It's a thing that happened that made me really happy, like hide in my pillow crying happy tears happy.

And then, on the fifth, I found an exactly 8 year old video of my childhood dog that we had to put down... it was from the summer before he was put down, which happened during the school year. He had been all that I'd had growing up, so, it hit kinda hard seeing something of him that moved. Even after 8 years, I still cry every time I think about him. He was the best dog any little kid could've ever been raised with, and probably helped boost my immune system against my allergies to boot, hehe. I cried for like, two hours, cause it was a video taken 7/5/2015. And, I thought I had lost all my images of him. It was a happy thing, just. A very sad type of happy. I wish I could tell him that I did love him, even if I didn't wanna lay on the ground and cuddle like he preferred. He was a dog that was born old, haha, never wanted to play or bark, he just wanted to lay on you and be loved. I was always running around on imaginary adventures though, but I did love him. If I was upset, he was my safe place. I promise this is a happy thing, it's just that I'm gonna be legally allowed to drink soon, and sometimes I forget that it's been so long since I got to see him. Especially cause sometimes, I still have dreams about playing with him in our backyard, right next to a giant pine tree covered in cicada sheds, laughing as he dug a little groove to lay in under the old rusted out trampoline. He was the most patient, tolerant dog, and it's because of him and the cat he raised with me that I'm not afraid of so much anymore. Ma and dad weren't there when we had him, but... I'll admit to giving them up forever if it meant I got to have him back

Sleeping babee dragon sounds so cute! I've never designed a tattoo, so I can only imagine the pressure (and of course the touching part of him asking you to draw his tattoo design).

Interestingly enough I too spent a loooong period of time where drawing was a dragon-only zone. I think it was back in like middle school? If you're struggling with a traditional four-legged two winged dragon, have you considered another type? There's Asian Lung dragons, Wyverns, Wyrms, or even a Quetzalcoatl style dragon that can all be very cool and might be easier for you to draw as a sleepy loaf. If your friend doesn't have a strong preference of course.

How exciting, on sale art supplies. It's kinda hard to decide sometimes between art supplies and if you're new to it, it's not a BAD idea to try multiple different types and/or brand names until you find what you like. I own two different art devices, one Wacom Intuos bought in High School and a Huion art monitor bought like four years ago. I was a traditional artist at the time I bought the Intuos tablet, so I quickly found that I prefer drawing on an actual screen I can look at instead of drawing on a tablet, BUT I had to try the tablet first to know that. What that all amounts up to is I hope you like one if not both of them ^J^ It's good to hear that your job is calming down. I'm sure that you're enjoying having the down time to work on your creative pursuits. At the risk of sounding too much like a hippie art teacher, I say it's very important to have some sort of creative outlet in your life. So it's wonderful to hear that you're getting to write on your werewolf story. I send you my best wishes that your muse stays nice and cooperative for the whole process hehe.

And lastly: The bittersweet memory of a good pet that has passed is something that I feel blessed to have as well. I hope that you can continue to enjoy your memories of a good animal without being bogged down in the sadness of their passing.

you can answer for any of your ocs, how many ever times you'd like ^^

you know how sometimes superheroes have the most mundane, most common weaknesses? like superman's got his kryptonite, aquaman's got 'lack of water', you get the idea. so if your character is somehow a superhero of sorts (or just someone with powers, prowess, etc, needn't be all "sci-fi-y") what is the silliest weakness you can come up with for them? and how does it affect their everyday life? for eg, do they have to concoct a complicated morning routine because they're allergic to alarm clocks? what if they are fatal/have a weakness to the material their tyres/tires are made of, so if their car breaks down somewhere, they'd have to rely on an overcomplicated way to get to work/school/home etc?

the world's destroyed, your character goes through a massive career/life change from what they were before to being the designated city planner (think of it as a Sims situation). besides the obvious - constructing houses, etc, what is the first project they get to first? maybe something related to their old career/life? maybe something whimsical like a detailed amusement park? a giant utility store? also in the process of constructing their fav structure, how does that look like? do they take any inspirations from their favourite structures? do they go for simplistic designs or do they wish to experiment more (given it's a Sims-esque situation where infinite resources are available at their disposal)

Q1 RAMS 

oH, EASY. Rams’ ability would be turning back time. No sweat. Only do it every four hours after a nice nap, though.(Defined as lasting 30+ minutes in length of uninterrupted sleep.) Which is frustrating. Now co has to make sure to sleep every night for at least 30 minutes. Co has to plan around co’s time restraints. Club activities? Nah, gotta make sure to take a nap. It literally just forces co to have a semi-healthy sleep schedule 😭

FIONA 

Fiona is so illusionist coded so that’s what he is. An illusionist. Downside: can’t illusion-up anything that already exists. So another Fiona? Nope, that exists. A tank? Considered to already exist. Where it gets funky is what counts as ‘already existing’ like current Fiona can’t be conjured but Fiona-if-I-never-went-to-law-school can! Tanks are out of the question but dragons are cool! (though not ones that ‘already exist’ like Ancalagon from LOTR) Fiona’ll have a fun time figuring out what’s covered and not covered and I think it’ll fascinate him and also drive him insane (no worries, he’s used to it —it’s just physics in a nutshell)   

Q2  RIN 

Gods Rin as a city planner is literally god sent. First things first would be housing (ofc) but next? Community centers. Everyone would have nice access to a local community center. Libraries are peppered everywhere and the public transport system would run like a well oiled machine and could take you everywhere no matter how far away it is. Basically, Rin’s ideal city would be really accessible without a car. 

Circling back to the community centers, Rin would pour so much into them. They’d have activities for all age groups and not just young children + elderly people. The floor plan would be pretty open, large windows, lots of natural light –that sort of thing. Though the building would only be a small part of it, there’s the outside properties and here Rin gets to have lots and lots of fun. 

Firstly, the landscape would be native plants. That means St Augustine grass will no longer exist in her city. That stuff can stay out of her life for good. Food forests? Also great. Great stuff that she’d like to incorporate on the premises. Something like a community garden would also be good but she has problems with how most are run and would have to tinker with the idea a bit. 

(honestly Rin would reshape society from the bottom up. Like she does not like the current state of things.)

I typically don't have the game audio playing while playing the Sims 2 (I think its a holdover from getting jumpscared by the burglar/racoon scare chord) but I usually have Youtube gameplay or a podcast running while I play. If I am making CC, I typically have music going in the background.

I also deeply prefer the Sims 1 soundtrack over the Sims 2.

This is a bit harder of a question to answer because I have both modern hoods (Briar Glen and a story-progression test neighborhood called Mulberry Hills) as well as my medieval/fantasy hood (Kynsbern).

A lot of my CC not related to mods is based of the vibe I have for the neighborhood. Kynsbern is very heavily inspired by the Elder Scrolls series while Briar Glen is more of a comfy/colorful modern vibe. Mulberry Hills is a testing hood meant for long-term testing of custom content, so its whole vibe is modern mess.

I would say that when it comes to CC, I tend to go towards semi-realistic. 3t2 and 4t2 do show up quite a bit in my games, but I find that 4t2 objects doesn't really fit in with my games nowadays because of how blocky they are/textures seem to clash and stand out against the rest of the heavily modified game.

I even use different textures and CC to help set the scene for the games I play. For example with hairs: Briar Glen and Mulberry Hills both use Poppet V2, Mulberry Hills even having Amphitrite/Apple/Candyfloss genetic hairs. Kynsbern on the other hand is a mixture of Poppet V2/PMG V4 that I am slowly replacing with PMG V4.

Which means a lot of my Sim gaming recently is me turning on the game, seeing something I don't like, turning it off and then opening SimPE.

Also I love mods that add autonomy. Sometimes the household is massive or is considered a school, I can't babysit all of them!

📖experience📖

My real life interests do influence my game, typically with the CC I use or create. If I like a video game, my downtime or quiet time will turn to "how do I smash this stuff into my Sims game?"

I can easily think of two examples. My medieval/fantasy Kynsbern has a ROS event that features an abnormality from Lobotomy Corporation, a video game based in a sci-fi dystopian landscape. My modern hoods have FNAF custom content in it, up to having the pizza box default-replaced with the logo from the Pizzaplex.

Skill-wise though, I actually think I brought more outside experience into my content creation in than I took from it. I am still pretty new at Sims 2 custom creation but I have been making digital art and writing for a long time.

I still even have some of my old ideas written down from when I was a kid. At some time after Sims Makin' Magic but before Sims 2 was released, I had written down my dream expansion pack for the Sims 1. Apparently I really wanted slumber parties and things for kids to do. I had drawings of houses I planned to build when I was done with homework and a few snippets of old very stupid story ideas.

But I find that any skill you learn can be useful anywhere. Learning is wonderful!

if you use the vibrant, colourful, and lower contrast? aesthetic that's often called "maxis match", does it actually "match" the sims 2 in your view/experience of the game or do you consider it "maxis match" in the sense of the whole sims series? alternatively, do you not consider it "maxis match" and just prefer the colour and brightness? if so are there any particular reasons? e.g. it reminds you of a game or other media that you like, it gives you a feeling/vibe that you like, etc.
