my campaign hiatus has gone on for too long so to cope ive combined my interests at their maximum potency and had some dnd-strawhats thoughts

thoughts in depth under read more... :)!

this is SO self indulgent. their designs literally did not change. but i am a firm believer that dnd doesnt have to be european high fantasy. and also one piece literally IS fantasy. no changes are necessary to fit into dnd. ive already imagined plenty of campaign/oneshot ideas inspired by one piece. so this was basically just an exercise of trying to replicate their canon abilities in dnd 5e as much as possible without totally homebrewing everything. well. aside from luffy. you just cant take away or change his stretching.

LUFFY: (human monk. drunken master subclass. outlander)

the only plain human of the crew to balance out with the fact that he still has rubber powers. obviously a monk. but drunken master subclass specifically because i think the flavor(not the fact that its about being a drunkard) and abilities both fit him really well. this line in the subclass' flavortext especially fits him: "A drunken master often enjoys playing the fool to bring gladness to the despondent or to demonstrate humility to the arrogant, but when battle is joined, the drunken master can be a maddening, masterful foe."

ZORO: (tiefling fighter. samurai subclass. bounty hunter)

a fighter with the samurai subclass is so very incredibly obvious... but i actually had a lot of fun geeking out while comparing the abilities to what he can do in canon; Fighting Spirit, Rapid Strike, and Strength Before Death especially! tiefling is also pretty on the nose for his demon pirate hunter shtick and asura form, but i thought he'd be really human-passing for a tiefling and theorized about his tail getting cut off at some point or another before joining the strawhats. initially wasnt gonna give him a feat, but i gave sanji a feat so i thought itd be unfair to not give him one as well, so sentinel fits the bill pretty well i think!

NAMI: (tabaxi rogue. arcane trickster subclass. criminal)

cat burglar -> full grown literal humanoid cat. this one is INCREDIBLY self indulgent... i love... cats... theres nothing deeper to this and no other reasoning. i took cat burglar and ran with it. can you tell that i love izutsumi dungeon meshi? rogue for the aforementioned burglar-ing as well, and the arcane trickster subclass for when she picks up climatact! the mage hand will be very useful for her pickpocketing. in the future as she levels up with timeskip, i can totally see her multiclassing into wizard as well! weather wizard!

USOPP: (lightfoot halfling artificer. artillerist subclass. urchin)

I HAD SO MUCH FUN THINKING ABOUT HIS CHARACTER SHEET. halfling's Naturally Stealthy ability lets him hide behind his crewmates since theyre (almost) all bigger than him, so its perfect for hiding behind zoro or sanji all the time. Lucky is also perfect for him, and I think Brave fits pretty well too when he puts on the sogeking mask. artillerist artificer is also very fun! tinkering and making magic items for his crew, and i think Eldritch Canon or Arcane Firearm could both be easily reflavored as kabuto or any of his inventions. for emphasizing his sniper-ness, the spell sniper feat was also necessary. i think hes my favorite of all the concepts. big ears and long nose combo is so cute to me.

SANJI: (half-elf monk. drunken master subclass. guild artisan (cook!))

race was mostly based on vibes i wont lie. squints. and that vinsmoke balogna or whatever too ig. but mostly vibes. along with the idea that i think a dwarf zeff raising him would be really funny and cute. monk is also obvious, and same subclass as luffy for mostly the same reasons. though the flavor fits him much less, i think the abilities still fit him perfectly, and this blurb specifically; "Your martial arts technique mixes combat training with the precision of a dancer." i really wanted to give him a different subclass from luffy, but i dislike all the other monk subclasses a lot and i found none of them fit him as well anyways, so to try and give them SOME differences, i gave him the crusher feat.

CHOPPER: (awakened deer(shifter statblock) cleric. life subclass. hermit)

this ones definitely a mouthful im sorry. awakened deer for obvious reasons, but due to magic instead of devil fruit stuff. when i was struggling with his race, i looked a lot at shifter because of his forms, but it occurred to me that itd be super cool if he could shift between all of the different shifter options instead of being stuck with just one to replicate his rumble balls. something like heavy point/guard point=beasthide, horn point/arm point(?maybe?)=longtooth, walk point/jumping point=swiftstride, and brain point=wildhunt. hed definitely need some kind of nerf though to balance out that homebrew... and cleric for class. duh.

ROBIN: (high elf wizard. order of scribes subclass. criminal)

robin is definitely the one i struggled the most with just because of her class. elf came pretty easily- shes very elegant and i think shed look cute with super long ears- and i landed on high elf instead of wood elf for the int-based abilities. i was really on the fence between sorcerer and wizard for her because i knew shed be a full spellcaster, but i didnt feel that any of the subclasses really fit her. i ended up going with wizard for order of the scribes since it focuses on texts and knowing everything. but also because robin with a flying talking sentient book would be crazy cool. it could also be similar to how she spawns mouths and eyes places to talk to or watch people. my "fuck it, why not. this would be rad. its my house" mindset kicked in with her i will admit. also the One with the Word ability made me cackle out loud when i read it. thats the funniest ability ever. anyways, i cant really think of a way to replicate her powers, but maybe we could just reflavor a bunch of spells to be her limbs or clutch; hold person, maximillian's earthen grasp, or evard's black tentacles. thatd probably work okay, and theres a handful of spells to replicate her ability to spawn eyes or mouths. unrelated, but i imagine nico olvia to be a drow. why? her hair is white. i am a simple man!

HELLAWEEN -What was the inspiration behind HELLAWEEN/How did it come to be?

In 2014 I had just graduated college and moved across the country for a storyboard internship at a film studio. I had a huge quarter life crisis when the environment clashed with me in every way, which left me questioning if I had made a massive career choice mistake. To help take the edge off I decided I needed to come up with some characters that were as self indulgent as possible. So I asked myself "What if there was Halloween level of a Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater game?" and "What if My Chemical Romance wrote the soundtrack to Scooby Doo?" and thus, the main cast was born. Originally I didn't have any plans with them, I was just having fun drawing them for inktober and developing their personalities. Once the internship ended and I was able to set my career back in motion with some significantly better studio atmosphere fits for me in California, I started getting more serious about developing a linear story. I spent some time pitching different versions to tv studios and shorts programs. Got some great feedback but no real bites. Fortunately, I had a post blow up that caught the attention of my publisher who reached out to see if I was interested in doing a book instead and I LEAPED at the opportunity! HELLAWEEN is very much inspired by my own teenage years, growing up in the Bay Area, being surrounded by alt and skate cultures in the 2000's. As well as exploring identity, and growing up queer but the words for "how" didn't really exist yet. Plus a deep love for spooky cartoons and stylish anime, of course.

And now with the season 3 announcement:))))

Everything ... up to that NOLA visit in episode 8 and the actual ending... is not the truth. Let that sink in.

The trial: scripted (and Lestat breaking out of it for the important bits)

Claudia's turning: So much... more raw.

Claudia's death: brutal. That final look between her and Lestat was one of the most painful things to witness.

Her diaries (pages): mostly unused. I am a bit unnerved bc of that wasted Merrick reveal and aftermath implementation tbh. Louis is not freed up after it, but... he should have been, imho. Though, that said, with Dubai likely a stand-in for Trinity Gate... maybe the arc fits after all - BUT I still think they could have done more with her diaries. I get why they wanted to escape the “white savior trap“ but this way Louis did not get that power-up that will ultimately bring him to where it frees him. But who knows... maybe they will implement a version of it all still.

The broadcasting and Loustat's relationship in general: Armand putting a fantasy retelling into Louis' brain. Holy shit.

Sarcasm aside, this is a brilliant show. But I am NOT looking forward to another two years of bullshit accusations (by some) because they were mostly/only spelled things out in the episode insiders, and only broke things up in the last episode. Or of people confusing the meta and social commentary level with the in-universe one.

Which, by the way, I'm happy that they went there. And I am relieved that they spelled things out in the episode insiders. Truly. But as experience has shown after season ONE... implied manipulations, episode insiders and interviews, and cast/crew/writer statements don't mean jack shit to some people.

So yeah, where does this leave us?

This was a dark season. I think I'm not totally wrong when I say that most of us did not get what we wanted from it, neither DM, nor Loumand, nor Loustat. Or Claudeleine.

"Locked together in hatred" comes to mind, though "hatred" is obviously (way) too strong a word. (But that quote fits so nicely 😏🤓)

We DID get some of what we wanted. But for a show which built so heavily on other books... to follow the first book then so closely?? I don't know, it leaves me a bit unsatisfied(**). It feels as if they just shut the book, to be done with it, you know?

I still enjoyed the season, there were brilliant parts in it. But it feels... bloodless. Sexless. Empty of affection. Harrowing. Which is, of course, the point.

This... is a depressing, hinting at suicide-through-vampires note.

Which won't happen, of course.

Because here we get to (**), which is of course ™️ them announcing s3 just prior to the last episode;))) And thereby making some things clear by that fact alone :)) 🙌🙌🙌

I said it before, I expect them to revisit... again. Given that this will be in what, 1,5 to 2 years from now? Well. Hopefully still in 2025. And I hope the arc they spun over these three seasons will be done then. And we can move forward.

I do hope this show will get 10 seasons. But for the first time since it aired I wished we'd already be ahead, in season 4 or something. 😅 Because this heap of loose endings is... taxing^^. Though definitely coming very softened as a blow now with the s3 renewal that’s for sure^^

Cassandra Nova/TVA agent!reader

Last night I could not stop thinking about Cassandra Nova with the Juggernaut helmet on her head. She's so cute in this scene 🥺.

So I typed this self indulgent little fic on my phone. I've never shared this kind of writing publicly before and I feel a bit shy, but I feel like a few poeple might enjoy.

Summary : right after rebuilding her body from scratch, Cassandra Nova is captured by the TVA. Reader is a mutant with strong mind powers working as a consultant for the TVA. Their job right now is to check on Cassandra Nova and make sure she is healing well.

Content warning : light whump (chronic fatigue due to powers loss, low appetite), graphic death threats.

It should have shocked you at least a little, but again, you come from one of those freaky timelines.

The team they sent to clean the mess left by Paradox was instructed to be careful when getting rid of the rubbles around the Time Ripper, but you doubt they expected to find a body, unscathed and alive.

That's when you were called, with the instruction to bring one of those Adamantium helmets.

A few days passed, and now you are standing inside a maximum security cell. You doubt it is necessary, though.

The helmet looks painfully heavy on Cassandra Nova's head. Depriving her completely of her powers right after she managed to rebuild herself a whole body from a few scraps of cellular tissue is a cruel treatment, but you know there is no other choice.

She stares at you from the wheel chair she's been given until she fully recovers. When you deprive a powerful telepath from their telekinesis, it takes their body a while to reajust. You know this well, you are a powerful psionic mutant yourself.

You take the metallic chair and sit facing her. She doesn't react and you notice her eyes are lost in the vague.

"Don't worry" you say softly "in a few days you'll be back on your feet."

You don't doubt this is true, and it frightens you a little. You notice how frail she looks under the loose standard TVA beige jumpsuit.

"Did you rest well last night ?" you keep talking. "Today was raspberry pie day. Did you like it ? I bet you love sweet things."

Still no answer. You already know she liked the pie. Or at least it's the only thing she finished on her tray.

"The TVA doesn't really know what to do with you, you know. You survived death by atomization. I can think of a handful of ways to kill you, but don't worry, it's not what's been decided."

You look for a reaction, but you find none. You are not even sure she registers your words. But it doesn't matter much, what matters is the calm tone of your voice and how firmly you keep eye contact.

"Director B-15 ruled out your pruning by the TVA was irregular. You should not have been sent to the Void as a new born baby, no matter what level of consciousness you had since the womb. She pleaded to put the cause of your actions on your mental state, for which the TVA can be held accountable. In other words, no harm will be done to you."

"Remove this immediately so I can rip your limbs apart and burn this place to the ground" she moans.

You smile.

"Not a very convincing argument, you know."

She lifts her hand and looks at her fingers with painful confusion. You almost feel bad for her. Without her powers, the world must be a terrifying place.

You tentatively reach for her hand. She grasps yours and squeezes intensely, as if she was trying to phase through your flesh and bones. She doesn't have enough strenght to hurt you so you let her do, until you reverse the roles and envelop her hand in yours.

You look at her long fingers and the uncanny shape of her nails while massaging her palm. You wonder if small gestures of comfort are universal. Maybe she doesn't understand your intentions. She doesn't seem to mind, at least.

"The TVA is debating over the involvement of your brother. Would you like to meet Charles ?" you ask.

Cassandra perks her head and a twisted smile creeps on her pale lips.

"I met him already. A lot of hims, in fact. They were all so sweet when they screamed and ask me to make it stop and splatter their lovely brain on the walls."

You shiver because you know she's saying the truth.

"I meant involving your Charles."

She pouts.

"He doesn't care."

"I am sure he will once he learns about you. And he could help our Judges to decide what's best for you."

She leans forward.

"I want to go home"

She sounds so helpless. It almost makes your heart ache.

"That's the idea" you reply "once we've found a suitable home for you."

She shakes her head.

"I mean home home. In the Void."

You sigh.

"I don't think this will be possible. I know you really loved it there, but you have proven we can't let you roam free anymore."

Cassandra hisses, showing her bare teeth, and before you can react, her fingers are clenching to your neck.

You gasp in surprise and almost reach for your safety button by reflex, but you manage to control yourself and use your powers to get free from your assaillant's grip.

"See, I told you you would be on your feet very soon" you joke to deescalate the situation.

But Cassandra doesn't seem to find it amusing. Her hands are pinned in the air a few centimeters from your throat, she stares at you with her deadliest glare.

But it doesn't have the intended effect and you struggle to hide a smile.

You carefully catch her wrists, warry to not hurt her. She tries to struggle, but you have quite a strong power and she has none.

"Shhht" you hush "don't try to fight, you're going to hurt yourself."

Usually, in this situation, you would send calming mental waves, but you can't access Cassandra's mind under the Adamantium helmet.

"Fuck off" she hisses "once I get this godamn thing off my head I'll rip your eyes off and make you swallow them before I'll turn your guts inside out and set fire on what's left of you."

That's too much for you and you lose it. Does she know how stupid adorable she looks when she hisses like a angry kitten ?

You crack a smile and she spits at you. Her impotant rage awakes your comforting instinct.

"Shhhht, that's alright" you whisper with a singing, almost hypnotic voice. "I know you feel very angry right now and you want to hurt me and everyone in this building. That's okay, you can feel all this rage and threaten me as much as you want, I won't get mad at you."

You feel her squirm against you psionic force. Her efforts become more erratic and less focused.

When you feel the point of pressure shift, you release her and she collapses like a rag doll. You pick her up under her armpits and help her on her feet.

"Can you walk to your chair or do you need to be carried ?"

She doesn't lower herself to answer, silently stretching her arms towards you instead.

You hide a smile and use your powers to lighly levitate her in the air. She wraps her arms around you childishly and rests her head on your shoulder.

Gosh, this helmet is so heavy.

You slid an arm in her back and draw circles over her tense shoulders. She goes limper and limper, almost melting under your firm hold.

"Is it over ?" you ask kindly. "You are safe, here with me. Safe to express all your rage and your frustration. And also safe to ask for comfort, or a shoulder to rest."

You feel her wiggle a bit as she seeks a more comfortable position.

"I hate you" she mumbles.

"I know" you say "I know, you hate everyone but Charles. Do you think he wants to see you all worked up and exhausted ?"

"Why would he care ?" she asks almost hopefully.

"Because he's a kind man. Do you want to make him happy ?" you ask.

Cassandra lingers a moment and nods in silence on your shoulder.

"Good" you say. "For that, you need to recover your forces. Do you think you can do that for Charles ? Have a lot of rest and try to eat. Not just your dessert."

"I don't care about Charles, I just want to go home" she repeats.

"For now home is here" you say firmly. "A place were you are completely safe to recover and learn plenty of new things."

"What things ?" she asks, curiosity peering through her words.

"Emotional regulation, to begin with. And all the things you missed growing up on your own in the Void"

You drop her down delicately on her wheel chair and arrange the pillows around her head.

"This was your first lesson" you say. "Not everyone you meet is an enemy and some poeple are here to help."

Library Interiors is pretty simple, discussions table and bunch of Parsimonious bookcases. I want to recommend this mod to create functional library. But you cant study life skills from AL so I am not recommend it.

I also love reading in a park, and eating street food and webnovel is a match made in heaven. So this is just a small part of that indulgence.

This computer room is where you can write articles or papers or just chat in the community.

Finally, a room where you can watch documentaries, novel inspired channel and many more, accompanied with Jack93sims popcorn maker.

Bonus room is upstairs using elevator, however it mostly for witches in training. You can stay here as long as you can until your witch level reach maximum.

I have tested the lot so for it's fun to play, people eating popcorn while watching Tv and many more. I originally want to make it residential business to make the computer room functional but, the bills goes through the roof. Haha, So yeah if you want you cant change it using cheats.

6. What’s one fact about the universe of a fic that you didn’t get a chance to mention in the fic itself?

Dead Hearts:

oooo probably Warlock stuff. I really love the concept of wizards, witches, and warlocks all being Different, nongendered, things instead of gendered and/or interchangeable names (I blame Septimus Heap for that one). Anyway, warlocks in Dead Hearts have a special connection to magic because while witches' magic connects them to the earth, warlocks are so much a part of the earth that magic flows directly from it through them--it's also what makes them able to read others' magic (like Eugene did to Jesse's) because they're a conduit for magic and connection as much as the earth itself is, so their magic is sort of...everyone's magic. It's a stream always flowing through them as opposed to a witch's bottomless lake. (Wizards might harness magic artificially, though I didn't completely flesh out that thought--a wizard is probably what Nick would have been during his first life, because his magic was being pulled from an outside source, and what Eugene was trying to do--and eventually succeeded in doing was open Nick to the flow of magic warlocks experience).

I wrote up a bunch more lore and realized that it would be a shame to share it in case I ever wanted to write about it, which means my dumb brain has probably decided it does want to write the theoretical eugesse spin-off at some point. so stay tuned for that in like 3 years i guess XD

Sinew & Bone:

So! When Nick sees Jesse in Eugene's room, they immediately recognize each other as pack. Nick had previously commented to Eugene to leave whatever werewolf he's sleeping with because it's obviously he's stressed all the time now and his scent is all mixed with wolf. The reason Nick didn't know then that Eugene's wolf was Jesse is that his brain filtered the possibility out. The scent was Eugene, Family, Wolf, and Nick immediately assigned the family association to Eugene completely on accident and with no recognition that he even smelled that on Eugene because his subconscious sees Eugene as family, so he didn't register anything amiss with Eugene's scent in that regard. So all he picked up from Eugene that was out of place was a random shifter's scent.

12. Are there any tropes you used to dislike but have grown on you?

oh man i fEEEL like there was a specific trope I immediately had in mind for this one but because I waited so long to answer, I literally can't remember anymore.

Perhaps song fics? I hate reading them but have ended up writing several tangential fics that DO quote song lyrics in them jfdsah Really I'm just a hypocrite. I'll come back if i ever remember my real answer??

17. What highly specific AU do you want to read or write even though you might be the only person to appreciate it?

oh man so many honestly. and like. I do it pretty regularly XD but two super specific and indulgent aus that genuinely no one but me and, like, one other specific person would read are:

1) characters somehow getting swapped with older/younger versions of themselves. For example, 25 year old Nick swapping places with 16 year old Nick and remembering what a dick baby Seiji was to him, while 16 year old Nick's trying to fight with a 25 year old Seiji. I like versions where it's just mind swapped and versions where it's whole body as well (those are fun for the oh no he's hot moment they come with). Fun fact, my original idea for the 'childhood' prompt in the 30 Day Fence Challenge was 17 or so Nick swapping out minds with 12 year old Nick but I couldn't make it work the way I wanted it to in the time I had to write it so it got shelved

2) the Ultimate self-indulgence of MAXIMUM cringe level but aus where a pre-get-together ship's future kid somehow gets dumped back in time and seeks out their parent/s and they're like what do you mEAN I married him?!?! and yes i do have a specific scenario for both Eugesse and Nichoji fics of this variety and if I had time to fit them in my writing schedules, y'all would have to suffer months of irrelevant content from me uwu
