Fairy lights twinkle only in the dark,

the moon makes faces only when the sun

looks away, the owl interviews the wind

by starlight, crickets drone their homily

to congregations of shadows.

Lay pride on the floor, drop pretense

like a switch, go naked, let the murk

cover your footprints, bare necessity

to the sky, the world can only half-see,

feel like you fear to when they are

looking, listen painfully, forget sight,

this is your time, so seize the night.

Rarely do I ever see something and not have to think before I buy it. Lately I talked to a friend about being broken.

When they were younger they liked the idea of someone saving them but then they realized that the broken one doesn't have to be saved by anyone. So I told them that "ok" is within the word "broken". Sometimes you just have to change your perspective. Instead of being broken you can also believe yourself to be ok.

It felt good to have changed their view on that so powerful but negative word.

And always remember: Broken crayons still colour.
