I would say when you were trying to bring your boyfriend’s attention. He would flee away when you were trying to give your hand, just to see his reaction.

Chishiya just likes to see how long are you gonna tired out of your silly little games. That every time you tried to see his reaction, it always backfires and you would be infuriated.

For a moment, after seeing your reaction as you were walking away, he always thought to himself on where’s the determined lover, who tried to bring his attention in given by their hand? And he would quietly laughed as he was teasing you for so long.

You became friends with Arisu, Karube, and Chota back in elementary school. One day, you witnessed two brave boys named Karube and Arisu standing up for a third boy, Chota, who was being bullied. This deeply impressed your younger self, and you made an effort to befriend them. Luckily, it worked out well as the boys were open to having a new friend. Your friendship lasted even after school, showing the strong emotional bond between you all.

You shared the most interests with Arisu and, since neither of you had jobs, you spent more time together. Sometimes, you and Arisu would tease Karube and Chota by sending selfies from a café where you were playing video games while they were working. In response, they teased you right back.

After finishing your discussion, you sincerely hoped everything would go well for Karube.

A few days later, you were sitting in the kitchen, enjoying delicious dashi. You were browsing various job postings because you had decided to start earning money independently. Your phone started vibrating in your hands with a flood of new messages in your group chat of four. From this, you learned that Karube had been fired, Chota wanted to skip work today, and Arisu had argued with his father and left home. Everyone wanted to meet up. They were waiting for your reply, so you quickly typed a message saying you’d join them soon.

Half an hour later, all four of you stood together in the shade. You were quietly giggling at jokes about a zombie apocalypse and, overall, enjoying the warm atmosphere with your friends. Suddenly, Karube lifted Arisu onto his shoulders and began running carefully down the crowded street with him. Chota started recording a video on his phone, and you stayed close to your friends, ready to catch Arisu in case he fell. You didn't doubt Karube's strength, but extra caution wouldn't hurt. The laughter of everyone involved faded when you realized you were on a busy road. Cars were honking at you, and you tried to reach the other side of the street as quickly as possible, avoiding oncoming traffic.

You heard Chota say, "Look, there are fireworks over there!" But you didn’t turn your head, still focused on your goal. Once on the other side, you all agreed to duck into some restrooms to avoid the police. The three guys went into the men’s restroom, and you headed into the women’s.

The guys only wrote in the group chat that everything was fine, but you were distracted when the lights went out. You put your phone in your pocket and decided to step outside. There was no one around except you. You began calling loudly, "Karube! Chota! Arisu!" but no one answered, so you started searching the most likely places. However, Tokyo seemed frozen in time. Late at night, you returned to the road where you’d last been messing around with your friends. A bright light from a billboard caught your attention, mentioning some kind of game. Though cautious, you followed the directions to the indicated location.

Hope still filled your heart that you’d find your friends there. When you entered the building, you saw your friends and ran quickly toward them. They called your name and hugged you tightly.

—We were looking for you, but it was like you disappeared into thin air like everyone else.

Chota said quietly, disbelief in his eyes.

Karube’s voice was calm, but there was a hint of worry.

—Did you see anyone else? Do you know what happened?

Arisu was still holding your shoulders as if checking if you were real.

You didn’t get a chance to explain because another girl in a business suit entered. She explained that you wouldn’t be able to leave until you played the game. After her, a schoolgirl arrived, so all of you completed registration, and the "Life or Death" game began.

After the schoolgirl's death, you stayed close to Chota, patting each other’s backs for comfort. In the next round, you pulled Karube away from Arisu, squeezing the blonde man’s hand tightly to keep him from hitting your mutual friend again. Thanks to Arisu’s intellect, you managed to escape the game, but Chota suffered a severe burn.

By mutual agreement, Shibuki and Chota stayed in the shelter while you, Karube, and Arisu went to the next game to search for answers. During a minor argument between you and your friends, you went with Arisu because the boys didn’t want you to attack the man in the horse mask. However, even in the safe zone, there was trouble—if not for the short-haired girl as well as the man with white hair and his taser, you would have died.

You and Arisu were supporting Karube from both sides. The guy had a shallow wound on his side, but he refused to admit he needed help, even though it was obvious. When you returned to the shelter, you helped bandage his wound and stayed close to assist him if needed. The next morning, while everyone was still asleep, you decided to prepare food with the available supplies. Fortunately, there was a gas stove, so cooking wasn't a problem.

The guys immediately started eating breakfast, while Shibuki stood aside, unsure if she was allowed to join. Your gesture inviting her to sit down reassured her, and she joined you without hesitation.

You were worried about Chota: his visa was expiring today, and with an injured leg, he still had to participate in the game. During breakfast, Karube mentioned hearing about the "Beach."

—Let's look for a way there after today's game. Chota and I are out of time, so we can't delay this.

In the evening, billboards lit up again, announcing a new game. This time, the venue was Tokyo's botanical garden. “yeah,” chota knocks his shoulder into arisu’s as they walk over to sit down in a booth beside front of the window. cars drive by the convenience store in the light rain, occasionally causing a splash of water to hit the sidewalk. “you talk about them all the time. when do we get to meet ‘the best thing that’s ever happened to you?’” 

“shut up,” arisu waves them off, leaning down to hide his growing blush. steam raises up from his cup of noodles as he rips the lid off and mixes the sauce packet into the noodles. 

“come on!” karube complains. “we won’t do anything to embarrass you.” he holds his pinky out with a raised eyebrow. “i promise.” 

arisu rolls his eyes, pushing karube’s hand away. “whatever.” chota laughs beside them before changing the conversation to the newest level of a random video game he must’ve missed the release for. despite his protests he pulls out his phone and clicks on your contact. it’s almost second nature as he texts you.

arisu smiles to himself as he sets his phone aside before turning his attention back to his noodles. they’ve cooled down significantly. unfortunately for him, chota notices his small smile and lack of participation in their conversation. 

“talking to y/n again?” he teases. 

arisu sighs, finally relenting. “i texted them. they’re on their way over here now.” his eyes stay glued to the doors as karube and chota joke amongst themselves. 

arisu’s excitement builds along with his nerves as your car slowly pulls into the parking lot. you exit your car, rushing into the building in an attempt to avoid the rain. he lights up when you immediately notice him and quickly make your way over to where he is. “arisu!” 

“hi angel,” he chuckles, standing up to pull you into a hug. arisu’s waist remains around your waist when he pulls away before gesturing to the two men sitting beside him. “karube, chota, this is y/n.” 

chota is the first to react, nearly scrambling to his feet to bow to you. “chota segawa,” he introduces. he’s wearing a striped button down shirt and a pair of black dress pants. his work lanyard swings when he bows. his face flushes with a light blush as he awkwardly stutters out a few words. “it’s nice to meet you.” 

“karube daikichi,” the blonde man goes next. he’s significantly calmer than chota as he lowers his head towards you. he smells faintly like a mixture of beer and cigarette smoke as he gives you a small half-smile. “arisu has said a lot about you.” 

“l/n y/n,” you smile, reciprocating their bows. “arisu talks a lot about you guys too. it’s nice to meet the both of you.” arisu looks away in a poor attempt to hide his blush as you chuckle, reaching under the table to grab his hand into yours. you take the opportunity to sit down beside him across from karube and chota. 

arisu watches as you quickly fall into conversation with karube. your laughter is a sweet sound that would normally calm his nerves, but it’s usually a result of his jokes. his slowly growing irritation goes unnoticed as you reach over the table to use your hand to emphasize the point you’re attempting to make, accidentally pulling away from where your hands were intertwined in the process. 

chota also notices how well you’re getting along, teasingly raising an eyebrow and cocking his head to gesture towards you and karube. arisu attempts to ignore him; though his slight teasing only adds to his growing jealousy.

a small reprieve comes when he reaches over to tug your hand back into his, now resting your intertwined fingers on the table in plain view. chota chuckles at the sight. “what is it?” karube asks, looking over at him. 

chota simply shakes his head with a small smile. “nothing.” 

“your friends are nice,” you murmur from your position against arisu’s chest. “karube’s a funny guy. and chota is really sweet.” his heartbeat is steady under your ear. he lets out a sound akin to a grunt, tightening his grip around you ever so slightly. you stifle a chuckle as you shift to look up at him. “what?” 

“you seem to be getting really close with karube.” 

“like i said, i like karube.” you move to hover over arisu, bringing your hands up to cup his cheeks. “are you jealous?” 

his face flushes as he looks away. “no.” 

“you’re jealous!” 

“fine. i’m jealous.” arisu reaches up to wrap his arms around you, flipping the both of you over so he’s leaning over the top of you. “are you gonna make it up to me?” 

“is a kiss enough?” he hums as you reach up to pull him down into a kiss. arisu doesn’t let you pull away for long, pulling you down into another one, and another, and another.

First met:

It was during when he met you in the real world, likely when he was running into you an accident and then he sees you.

At first, he was so surprise to see you one of eyes were two different from each other. Arisu didn’t see anyone with two different eyes, but the fact you avoid eye contact for a moment.

What they think of you:

Ever since you guys had been dating or likely stuck in the borderland, when you open about how insecure about the way your eyes were .

Arisu was so confused and thinks they’re very pretty despite taken it as being odd as usually thought to be, he was obviously getting distracted the way those different colours go along with you.

He was happy enough that he had someone to talk about it all day, and that Arisu never stop loving you and just to prove that you matter to him.

Karube

First met:

You met him at the bar just as you were wearing fake contact lenses, you asked him a couple of drinks as he was there minding his own business.

That moment, he starts talking to you as if you didn’t expected of questioning, the time you want a couple of shots.

You both start talking to each other and even outside, just as he was at your house and that you were at the bathroom, putting back your eye contact lenses. Without locking the door, he just comes by at the bathroom just as you looked at him, with revealing one of your different coloured eyes.

He was surprise at the sight of your eyes, but then you put back your eye contact lenses and you leave the bathroom as you walk past. Karube stopped you and tells you why you didn’t tell him about it. In fact you explain directly at him that it gives everyone a weird look on you, to which his surprise was making you wanna avoid eye contact with him.

Just because you think negatively doesn’t mean Karube is going to accept how you felt that way, he’s going on major positivity on you and see that every aspect of you including your eyes, truly he is admiring you so much to the point that he is gonna be beside you no matter what happens. If anyone ever gives you a weird look, he would glare at them as you guys walk past out of sight.

You were at a working company, same as Chota, and it always says something about one of your co-workers, they would make fun of you because of how odd your eyes and would made such a fuss.

Or likely you would be uncomfortable, wearing your glasses as if it’s gonna work or not to be notice. That time when Chota was there because of those co-workers were noisy, when he approached to you and you give up a glare on him as if he was like those co-workers.

But he didn’t try to intend to make you uncomfortable, and more so that he kind of like your eyes besides that Chota felt awkward to start off like that.

Seemingly you appreciate the compliment, but somehow still feeling negative when your guys’ workers always spoke of nonsense and rumouring murmur.

What they think of you:

Chota did care about you and for all I know, he does make an effort into joining you in and perhaps he was trying to make you fit in to his life.

He does love you, just lightly complimenting you all day just to make you feel comfortable, as possible as he wants to see you happy for once. Seeing that he felt lucky to have someone like you and doesn’t care about your eyes, he only see as same as everyone else including himself.

You were at the Beach just as you were distant away from anyone else, you putting hood over your head just to hide your eyes from everyone else.

Chishiya was there leaning the wall as he saw you walking past, you were at your room as the door was a slight open. That’s when he saw you removing your hood and facing up the mirror, then he saw your eyes as Chishiya was silence.

He heard you nagging so much and mumbles while complaining about your eyes. In fact, he really did understand from the cause of your mutation, which he does study a lot from his knowledge back in the real world.

Which in that the case, he knows your problem about the other people in the Beach might stare at you, somehow he really approached to your door just as he enter. You look at him afraid as he slowly approach to you, then he tells you that he never expected of someone, so special from your eyes.

It catches his attention to you that he really is just looking between two colours of your eyes, Chishiya would find it just as special as you.

What they think of you:

Just by looking at your eyes, he really doesn’t mind any of it. If you were having so much problem about how ugly it felt, Chishiya just considers you that he was the only person, who could only see that you’re a human being.

His eyes always drags on to you whenever he pleases, he maybe waving at you, he may walk past to you just to look at your eyes, he may stare at you for almost half an hour. Looking how your expression makes with those eyes, really adds a special feeling in his heart to you.

He really can’t stop looking at you in which he indeed love you.

It was during when you first start at the beach, and that you join in one of Aguni’s militants, you were just there feeling like you need a break.

Just as you start to remove your shades off and look at him, at first Aguni wasn’t surprise and reveal your eyes to him from the moment. He tells you why wearing it and to your response, was that you thought you didn’t want him to think you were weak and out of place.

Aside by looking at your eyes that you thought was out of place, Aguni thought that he was lucky to have someone who’s always beside him, along with the militants.

It didn’t really matter to him about your eyes, it’s what makes him feel in shifting his gaze on to you. He never saw you weak, he saw you as a tough and understandable person to be around with.

What they think of you:

He may not be open to most of all sorts, but he had a soft spot around you as Aguni thinks of you as his trusted comrade.

That those eyes really makes him see everyone to be aware or fear about you, if anyone dares to talk about you. He would know that no people would make fun of you afterwards.

During you joined the Beach, you were one of Hatter’s girls who sat down beside him. The fact he was just obviously laughing around, and having fun with the newcomers.

The moment after as you were standing there, hugging yourself and cried as your eyes avoided, he didn’t really pay attention to you about your eyes at all. He was just too focused on himself and the people that you knew, you knew that you may not like being one of those girls.

But at that time when Hatter see you crying, he just came to you as he finally see your different coloured eyes. Hatter was surprise underneath one of his sunglasses, just telling what’s wrong as you didn’t answer and shake your head. You wiped your tears and walked away but he was right in front of you, he wants to hear your problems.

Truly been told that you were the only person, who Hatter first laid his eyes on and that it have to be you. When you told him that you were feeling upset and insecure about the way people turn to you, which it distracts you even more about the newcomers kept looking at you so much.

What they think of you:

Hatter does care for some other girls including you, despite he never has attention with you and when you guys finally go eye to eye. He’ll just encourage you the most more than the other girls, obviously he would be mad about some newcomers and other people in the beach.

Let’s just say he did kill most of them just intend, then Hatter just goes up to you and telling you no matter what happens in being with him at all cost, you would be the star of his show that he would be entertained and lay his own eyes on you.

During at the borderland, you were playing the three of spades. Just as he saw you running, your two different eyes fall within him as he finally saw how mesmerized your eyes are.

The time he was standing there, just a blink of an eye and mostly kept sure you were still alive throughout the game. When you first were at the beach, the moment where people fear him and that he falls his eyes on you.

Niragi just took you just as if you were scared that he might do to you. But in private, he looked at you in the eyes as he was mesmerized. Just caressing your face until then, you were hugged by an infamous Niragi Suguru himself.

In spite of you thinking that he loses you during the game, he must’ve been thinking about the other players who must’ve been using you. Just you begin to cover your face on to his chest, you feeling upset as you begin crying that you were acting such a fool because people hated you because of your eyes.

What they think of you:

Okay, it’s only straightforward because he is possessive and is protective of you. So, initially if anyone ever dare look at you weirdly, or started gossiping and pick on you, oh, they’ll die anyways.

The thing is Niragi just want to hold you close, just murmuring nicest things to you as if it make you feel better. He maybe a bit too cocky and an average asshole, but he really loves you and that your eyes should always be on his eyes.

Well it was a coincidences actually, it happened during in the real world where you were walking by in the streets, just as he was the serial killer who took the lives of four women. You were there just as he ran past to you as your guys’ sight begin to link, Banda saw the most captivating eyes in his own eyes. Just as you were gone by the time when he came back.

The time you came back when you were playing the game, The Jack of Hearts, just as he showed up and when the game already started a while ago.

Banda sees you again just like the last time when he sees your eyes, the fact you were scared when you knew about him. That you avoid eye contact while he tilted his head and smile, just talking about your eyes really makes him feel allure those bright sparkles.

Somehow, he keeps thinking of pulling one of your beautiful eyes out as a souvenir, as he admire of what they are to you. But you were just afraid of him, afraid that he might kill you unlike those people found you odd.

It really bugs you but Banda does know that those eyes really bothers everyone, but not for him who usually start to get obsessed with you and that you don’t have to worry about it anymore.

What they think of you:

As you know Banda usually likes to look at you, just seeing how captivating those eyes when you looked or when you look at him. He just thinks of you as a little stray puppy who society rejected you because of your eyes, the only thing you should look at is Banda.

Working as an IT company worker in a 9:00-5:00 job was just painfully unfulfilling. You did nothing but sit through 5 hour meetings that you deemed irrelevant to you. If not, you'd hurt your ass from sitting on an office chair that was everything but comfortable.

Although, you couldn't complain about meetings when he was there.

Chōta Segawa. Your cubicle neighbor. Your sometimes break room seatmate. Your longtime crush, even though you've only had like 5 conversations.

Today, like any other work day-- was uneventful so far. You woke up (you had thought about skipping work, but as tempting as that sounded, you wouldnt have anything better to do anyway), brushed your teeth, showered, ate breakfast, and you were on your way.

Now, you were sitting in your cubicle, playing solaire on your computer. You were about to win, not until your co-worker announced that there was an impromptu meeting.

Oh. My. God.

You groaned to yourself, not in the mood for another one of those impromptu meetings that would end up in you and your co-workers would have to overtime for.

Maybe skipping work wasnt so bad after all.

Once you knew that the others were in the meeting room, you bolted to the empty hallways to get the hell out of there.

It was quiet, the only sound you could hear was your breathing and the light clacking of your office heels. You kinda liked it. You were lost in your own little bubble of peace when you didn't notice you were about to bump into someone, and that someone was the one and only. Chōta.

Your eyes lightly widened, and so did his. You both stared at each other for what seemed like forever, before you ran to the stairs, scared that he'd tell on you, unaware of the fact that he was walking in the hallways for the same reason as you.

It only boosted your fear when you saw that he was chasing you. You thanked the gods that you had longer legs than him.

Your legs couldnt take much more, especially when you were wearing those goddamn heels you despised so much, so you stopped in a nearby alley, were you took out your half empty cigarette box and your hello kitty lighter, and lighted up a long needed cigarette.

You closed your eyes in satisfaction as the smoke entered your lungs. You smiled in satisfaction. You hadn't had a smoke in a week.

Chōta spent what felt like hours trying to find you. He assumed that you were skipping the meeting, like he was, but before he got the chance to ask if you wanted to spend your "break" with him, you made a run for it.

He didn't know why, but he chased after you, as if you were connected by a string, and he was afraid he'd get dragged on the floor if he didn't follow you.

Since you weren't anywhere inside the building, he assumed you where outside. He was right, and the corners of his mouth almost reached to his ears.

He finally had the courage to talk to you and ask you out-- well, who wouldn't after you've had to endure endless teasing from your friends about a girl you like at your work.

Your fight or flight reflex was awakened again when he tapped your shoulder, you almost went in to punch him.

Good thing you didn't; you saw his pretty face before you could possibly break his nose.

"Jesus-- you fucking scared me, Chōta " you chuckle lightly, putting the base of your palm in the hand that was holding your cigarette on your forehead.

His laughter, although you could sense it was nervous-- sounded melodious to your ears.

"Well- um- sorry for possibly freaking you out by chasing you, but i just wanted to ask if you maybe would like to hang out with me?"

Your eyebrows nearly was raised to your hairline. Those words were the last thing you expected to hear from him. You were surprised he had made a first move. You had a crush on him, but you weren't ignorant to the rumors that he was a virgin. Nonetheless, you said yes.

A peaceful silence went over the two of you. You liked it, basking in eachother's presence.

Unfortunately, you couldnt stay in the alleyway where there were probably rotting carcasses of rats, so you broke the precious silence.

"So, want to get some frozen yogurt? I heard this new place opened just this month." You turn to look at him, to see him looking back at you with a slight sparkle to his eyes.

"Of course! I heard they have condiment toppings! I have been dying to try them, but my friends seemed to disagree with the idea everytime i brought it-" He cut himself off. "You probably dont want to hear me gush about unusual frozen yogurt combinations.." He says, looking down, his palm rubbing against his nape.

"No no no, continue! Besides, I could use a little unusual in my boring life." You grin at him. You didn't know it was possible, but your smile got wider when you saw his eyes light up like a Christmas tree.

You let your cigarette fall to the ground before stomping on it. You offer you hand to him before saying "Shall we? I'm a little too curious for mustard frozen yogurt."

He eagerly takes your hand before dragging you out of the alley.

Who knew skipping a meeting could be this fun?
