So you’re a proshipper?

I've been in fandom spaces over 10 years now and all this discourse nonsense has only cropped up in the past few years. I'm a regular person who doesn't harass other people online So I guess I fall under the proship umbrella, that's definitely the fandom space I stick to anyway cuz that's where all the normal people are haha. I'm not American so the hyper puritan culture of antis sending death threats to people over cartoons kissing weirds me out NGL.

I also get lots of messages telling me to kill myself because I draw two grown men who aren't related that have had like 4 very positive comic interactions together so you can see why I have very little patience for this whole new wave anti culture.

One thing to add as well! Not to sound like an old fart but we used to have terms like

"squick"

which meant the discomfort at seeing content or a ship that you personally did not like. So like e.g if you hated characters hooking up while drunk you might call it a squick so if you were seeing content with that you'd block it and move on.

"NOTP"

so like OTP meant "one true pairing" back in the day so it means it's your favourite ship. E.g Sladejay is my OTP.

NOTP means a ship that you haaaaaaaate but like you don't even have to have a reason for it you just might not vibe with it.

E.g Batjokes and Sladick are NOTPs for me, the first because I just don't like the joker, but the second because I don't like how Dick gets drawn/written by most people 🤷🏻‍♀️

Modern online culture I feel like people think they have to have some grand moral reasoning as to why they hate something rather than just being like

"I think that's icky" or "I think that's dumb"

AITA for leaving an angry comment on a fanfic?

So I'm (19F) a fandom where the canon ship is my notp. I find some aspects of the ship abusive and reminds me of my relationship with my ex that I'm seeing a therapist for. No shades for people who like it, but I prefer my ships on the fluffy side. So instead I have another ship for this fandom, which is not canon obviously, and is a rarepair. Finding fanart and fanfic for my OTP is very hard. But that's alright. I make my own art and I'm spreading love for it.

One time I came across a fanfic of my OTP. I was overjoyed. I didn't let my excitement take over, I made sure to read the tags on the fic first, to make sure there's nothing that squicks me but it was all good.

I start reading the fanfic. My boy wants to confess but is shy, okay, a slowburn. I continued reading, reading, reading, no sign of a confession or even a single interaction for my OTP, no problem, it will sure happen later, so I continued reading, reading, reading. Surely the author is saving the fluffiness for the end, right? I have to be patient, fanfic authors are unpaid and don't owe me a thing.

I reached the last paragraph of the fic and not a single interaction yet, no only that, but my NOTP started dating as a result of the MC not taking even a single action, all of sudden. The fic ends like that, the boy is heartbroken because he do it first.

I was livid, my NOTP showed up in a fic that was supposed to be about my OTP. I scrolled up to the tag list again to make sure I didn't miss the ship tag and yes. I was correct. The author thought it was a good idea to hide the ship because spoilers.

So I made a a comment that's basically this: how dare you make me read this with my own eyes? Why did you not tag NOTP also this fic has zero ship content so why did you even bother putting it in the tag. Tag your fic correctly next time at least warn us when there's another ship. Delete your fic from the tags for God's sake.

Apparently this writer was new or something and they apologized but didn't even bother to correct the tags after reading the comment.

I'm probably TA because the comment may have been means but I feel justified because I didn't consent to reading about my notp and I have it blacklisted everywhere and I even skip scenes when I watch it to avoid, but here it was without a warning so it's not a case of don't like don't read.

okay listen. I get the urge to talk about my favorite life series ship like it's Canon in every season...BUT. THAT HAS NEVER ONCE BEEN THE CASE.

Yes, Jimmy would be upset if Tango canaried (technical scientific term for that). Everyone would be- even I would be, and I've never watched a single one of his videos. Canarying sucks, and it hurts. Of course I would be upset. THAT DOES NOT MEAN THAT I THINK JIMMY WOULD BREAK DOWN SOBBING FROM A CHARACTER STAND POINT. They have had only like... THREE on screen interactions. One is Tango murdering a man infront of Jimmy and another is Tango cheerfully burning down something one of Jimmy's teammates worked very hard on. WildLifeChara!Jimmy has more reason to hate or be afraid of WildLifeChara!Tango than to be madly in love with him.

I promise you, if Tango had offered Jimmy a life instead of Ren, people wouldn't shut up about for MONTHS. But, because it's Ren, somehow the interaction isn't NEARLY as homoerotic??? I understand having NOTP's, but the Jimmy/Ren ship doesn't even show up ONCE on ao3. Zero fics. ZE-RO. There's no reason to hate something that doesn't even exist.

This same concept applies for Flower Husbands as well- not just in Wild Life, and Secret Life and Limited Life and Last Life and Real Life though- in Empires.

I have no clue about Empires Season 1, but they barely interacted in Empires Season 2- and yet the amount of ship art I sift through on a weekly basis for my side blog is actually insane. Yeah, the few interactions WERE important, but I think Scott only flirted (in video) with Jimmy maaybbeeee three times. I have no idea what the count of that for streaming is, but I swear it is not enough to keep that number so inflated.

Although, honestly, this problem might just be affecting me because of my personal view on shipping- if it's in a context where it doesn't make sense for the characters to be romantically engaged, I won't read it or write it.

For example, my beloved Solidwood! I mostly get their vibes or read their fics from the following series: Evo, Last Life, New Life, Empires2, Secret Life. That's because those settings make sense! They are active, they are engaged, they have near constant interactions or very close base locations. It makes SENSE for them to be shipped. However, if you showed me art or fic of them in, say, Limited Life, I'd furrow my brow and tilt my head and say "no, that doesn't do anything for me." BECAUSE THEY HAVE ZERO REASON TO BE INVESTED ROMANTICALLY IN ONE ANOTHER THERE, AS A STAND ALONE SETTING.

Most of the major Jimmy ships, though, don't follow this rule. I can understand loving a ship so much you want to see it everywhere- but, I promise you, stepping back and looking at which characters actually have chemistry regarding the new setting and social system will do wonders... you won't have to think of new Au's to insert your favorite ship into a new setting... all ships will be your favorite ship (unless they give you the ick). No but honestly it's gotten to the point where I will like or dislike a creator/character of theirs by what ship is their most popular given the context of the setting. Like, Tango in Double Life? Awww the sweetie!! I love him :) and then Tango in Empires2 sets off alarm bells in my brain screaming at me. He is NOT meant to be here bringing that ship here, this is NOT its territory. Same problem for Scott in nearly damn near every SMP both Jimmy and him are in... except Wild Life because he's actually been pretty nice and not condescending or forcing on Jimmy. I guess also power imbalances in how fans view them is a major no-go for me...

TLDR; Lots of popular ships are inserted into settings without a thought for what that would mean for the setting and any changes in the established social connections, which gives OP the ick. I'm also not policing ships I'm just begging people to please either understand more ships using in setting context or list their AU details in the summaries of the fics. This goes hand in hand with misinterpreting characters in writing also... the more ships you like the more characters you will get to get good at writing!!!!

i really cannot see her with mob i know this is punching down because theres maybe 1 person on the planet who ships this but theyre definitely a "mob-kun youre my best friend and i love you but i would never date you under any circumstances" sorta friendship. also not really a notp just a "?" but of the possible femslash ships i feel like her and tsubomi appeals to me the least. probably just because they never interact and we dont know enough about tsubomi's interests to know if theyd have anything in common. it gives "pair the spares but we dont like mezato" to me.

A random headcanon:

tome mentions in one of the semi canon anthologies that kijibayashi asked her out when they were first years and im incorporating that into my worldview. i also think she and takenaka had a like one week long middle school "relationship" that consisted primarily of them being too awkward to speak to each other or be in each other presence until they broke up over text just because it makes alien arc even funnier. also more of a reigen headcanon than a her headcanon but in the context of reigen manga i think it makes sense if reigen was very similar to her in middle school then when he was approaching highschool he was like "well i cant stay passionate about things forever" and dedicated himself solely to being a good student and good employee til he burned himself out.

General Opinion over said character:

she is solidly my second favorite mp100 character i love her so so much shes so special to me shes like. level of favorite character where i get excited handflaps seeing art of her. daughter of all time.

mezato and tsubomi. listen. listen to me. of all the femslash ships it makes the most sense. every time we ever hear mezato talk about tsubomi it gives "dear dumb diary". that girl is one long psychoanalytical speech about this girl she's never even had a conversation with from realizing she's bisexual and i think tsubomi would find mezato a really interesting person to interact with. they'd study each other like bugs. it's perfect.

i think she's a music person!!! one of her fanbook interviews mentioned that she likes to scream as loud as she can in empty piano rooms and it kind of put the idea of her going into music theory or smth when she's older into my head

i really really like her and find her narrative role interesting and i both wish we got more of her but also understand that knowing tsubomi would kind of ruin the plot of the show. seeing her only as glimpses and trying to extrapolate who she is through that is unfortunately the point </3

this can change depending on my mood, but mostly (i hc that) bakugou just uses the blanket queer term. hes not closeted, just doesnt get why its a big deal; its not anybodys business what he is, what he does, or who hes with.

dekubaku, obviously! I could ramble on and on about it but basically i love how its a mutual obsession between both of them. they have this silent vow to each other, and its just breathtaking to watch and or read about. i honestly think no ship does it like they do.

3. brotp

platonic kiribaku is fun, but mainly I just like bakugou interacting with the interity of the class, even if sometimes they just. dont. understand him. via: the hospital scene where bakugou is risking his injured ass to go see midoriya and the class misinterprets him as wanting to FIGHT him instead of him being worried about dekus health and safety.

4. notp

honestly i dont have any HARD no's with bakugou. i dont particularly like romantic kiribaku, but its not a "IM GOING TO IMPLODE AND TAKE EVERYONE DOWN WITH ME" hard no. i only ship him with midoriya and thats.. it. lol.

5. first headcannon that pops into my head

he likes midoriyas hands; particularly his scars. i headcanon as deku having bigger hands than kacchan does, because FUCK YOU i like it that way.

oof. this is HARD. not because i cant pick one but litteraly because my memory is so fucking shitty, and i cant remember any. but any lines that comes out of his gremlin mouth is my favorite.

7. one way in which i relate to this character

that hes hard to love, really, but that despite everything you can learn to be better. and that you can be loved to, even at your worst. i find that aspect of his character really comforting. not that what he did wasnt wrong, but that he can improve and still be loved despite not 100% being there yet.

8. thing that gives me second hand embarrassment about this character

when his huaghty attitude in his early arcs kicked him in the ass so hard, i had to sheild my eyes away from it because my face got so red from cringing.

Favourite thing about them: His dorkiness! I like how he starts out trying to be intimidating so he'll be thought of as a formidable foe, and then learns to embrace his naturally dorky self and be a better person. Maybe there's a message there about toxic masculinity? Or maybe I'm reading too much into it.

Least favourite thing about them: That so-called 'joke' in Episode 6. You know the one. I mean, you can't have a whole episode taking sexual assault seriously when it happens to Angel Dust and then turn it into a joke when it happens to Sir Pentious. I'd have preferred it if, instead of Pen being dragged into the sex room, Valentino overheard his "sex with everybody" line and started offering him a job at the porn studio and making him flustered, and that was what motivated Angel to stand up for his friends.

Favourite line: "The only cool thing here is to say 'No' to drugs! Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm off to not have sexual intercourse before marriage!"

brOTP: I like the enemies-to-friends thing he had going on with Angel Dust! My favourite moment is in Episode 5, when Pen is trying to shield his cookies for Lucifer from Angel's grabby hands, and then he has to stand up straight to salute Lucifer with a quick, "Your majesty!" before he goes back to shielding the cookies, but it's too late because Angel's taken one, but Angel doesn't make a big deal of it, he just says, "Heya, short king," to Lucifer as if there's nothing out of the ordinary going on. They're like brothers! Pen is the responsible one and Angel is the naughty one, but at the end of the day, they've got each other's back. It's fun to watch!

Also, now that Sir Pentious is in Heaven, I love the thought of Emily becoming his new best friend! She could show him how Heaven works, and he could teach her what he knows about Hell, and together they could try to find a way to let Charlie know that redemption actually works.

Plus, there's the angst potential of Sir Pentious interacting with Molly - he knows who Angel Dust is, and she knows who Anthony is, but they don't know they're talking about the same person... I'd love to see a Pen/Emily/Molly trio going on escapades in Season 2!

OTP: CherriSnake! I wasn't sure about the ship at first, but it's grown on me. It's a neat example of the enemies-to-lovers trope, where Sir Pentious' admiration for Cherri as a worthy opponent turns into something more romantic. And they could have bonded over being inventors - Pen with his gadgets and Cherri with her "brilliant explosive contraptions". Too bad he only confessed his love a few seconds before his heroic sacrifice...

I think I like this ship for its potential. What will Cherri do now that Pen is gone? Will she find out he's in Heaven? Will that motivate her to stay at the Hazbin Hotel, to get redeemed herself and be reunited with him? It's rife with story possibilities!

nOTP: Sir Pentious and Vox (StaticSnake?). Mainly because Vox told Pen to kill himself in Episode 2. That was unacceptable.

Random headcanon: Sir Pentious has a son! Remember that moment in the pilot when Angel said, "Harder, Daddy!" and Pen replied, "Son?!" I think Pen did actually father a child when he was alive, and he'd been scouring Hell trying to find him again. (And for a moment there, he thought Angel was declaring that he was his son.) Pen never found his son in Hell, but now he's in Heaven, maybe he'll have better luck...

Unpopular opinion: I actually quite like Sir Pentious' singing voice! It's nowhere near as bad as people make it out to be. And I much prefer it when characters' singing voices match their speaking voices, instead of being wildly different. (Looking at you, Vaggie.)

Song I associate with them: @hazbinned made a video of Pen being kept awake at night by Angel blasting out "Made You Look" by Meghan Trainor, so now I associate that song with Sir Pentious! LOL!

I wish antis knew how to channel destructive energy into positive energy.. like if you see an interpretation/ship you don't like, instead of harrassing or complaining, you can always just create more of the stuff you do like, to mentally heal the wrong you've witnessed. And block the tag to see less of that thing. Several of my notps are wildly popular in fandom so I do this on the daily haha. It's a fundamentally more harmonious and constructive way of interacting with fandom than harrassing people or complaining like a lil bitch. i love the tragedy of his story arc... that feels like a weird thing to say but its the first thing that came to mind! just. look. the road to hell paved with good intentions bit taken to the extreme really works here!!! the idea that he remembered the name of every person he ever killed because he was under the impression he could bring them all back, only to have the rug pulled from under him? hurts me! in the best way!!!

other than that i do enjoy his design, both romeo himself and the bed :] i wanna give my bedman cosplay another try sometime for sure, it didnt work out for various reasons but i have most of the components and would enjoy cosplaying him fr in the future

i think the only thing i have is that my interpretation of bedman has always been as like a young adult rather than a kid but like i dont really have a concrete opinion on that and i totally understand people who do see him as a kid like its entirely understandable to do so

i can't for the life of me understand people who claim to be sephiroth fans/have sephiroth based ships and go on and slap a capitalized "proship dni" somewhere in their bios/profiles

never understood this and never will, (for reasons i shall elaborate below) though i may get the potential reasons for it and just... it absolutely baffles me how misused the term proship is

that word literally means "in favor of shipping", that's what the "pro" part of the word is for. it doesn't mean you have to necessarily ship every ship that exists ever (that would be 1. insane and 2. not very feasible), just that you understand people will have different ships, you respect that others' preferences exist and mind your lane

it is basic fandom etiquette, it's literally old school "your kink is not my kink and that's ok". it's blocking folks with ships you dislike (notp) instead of trying to regulate what people do with narrative tools (characters) in a fictional space

sometimes other people are eating shrimp and you're allergic to shrimp. it doesn't mean the other people are immoral for eating shrimp

some people use proship to mean "problematic ship" (aka ships with dark thematics that wouldn't be ok irl) when 1. it doesn't mean that, and 2. you can dislike a thing without misusing a word

like, i do believe that sephiroth has the potential to be cute/do good/work well as a slice of life protagonist if you frame him just right, but by canon definition, where he goes, someone dies

he's not fully good and not fully evil, he's a morally grey character reacting to the only life he knows and having multiple instances of terrible decisions. he's a victim as much as he's propagating evil

he's a very complex character and loving his character is understanding that not all that does or that happens to him is ideal. and that's ok, his very birth/conception alone is full of dark/taboo themes

and see, here's what i don't get: people who use "proship dni" in their bios, aside from the obvious performative flavor to that, (it's the internet! a sign won't stop people who are particularly mean!!) presumably don't want to interact with one or more of the following:

- people who ship anything in general (if going by the literal definition of the word)

- people who ship anything with dark/"problematic" thematics (by going by the misconception of the word meaning "problematic ship")

- people with a different ship that would be a notp or people who aren't into yumeshipping (oc/self insert x canon) (i'm not gonna get into my horror stories from twitter about this one but it exists, i was attacked once for trying to run a sc event)

if it's for the first reason, fair, but why only list one side of the discourse instead of just putting you're not into shipping? it feels like trying to bait people into a fight

the second is the one that baffles me the most. any ship you put sephiroth in has potential to have dark thematics, because sephiroth, as a shipping component, brings all these dark themes into it. unless you're redoing his whole life from scratch, he'll still have the history of having killed people, having fought a war, having been experimented on from pre-birth, etc. and if you have to redo this character's whole life to avoid dealing with his thematics entirely... do you even like him at all? are people who enjoy dark thematics forbidden from engaging with potentially wholesome thematics as well?

and the third is just hypocritical pettiness, really. you're not morally superior for shipping sephiroth with yourself or your oc or a different character that you prefer over some other character. sephiroth is still sephiroth, regardless of who he's with. he'll still do sephiroth things, whether positive or negative. you can dislike other ships without being morally performative about things. you can have notps!! you can dislike a ship for hitting you with the wrong vibes or because you like that other ship better

but in the end it all just boils down to it having the same vibes as antis using ao3: you're making use of the most proship thing out there is and saying proshippers shouldn't interact with you

Why I like them / Why I don't

I'll do these two at the same time, because the two of them are a set.

What I like the most about Shou is that he's deeply unlikable. His arc is very non-standard for a sidekick character who's defined by his lack of confidence. He doesn't slowly gain confidence and learn independence so much as he just latches onto Judai at first sight and uses him as a crutch, and like the show acknowledges right away how unhealthy this is. Then when Judai stops being the perfect big brother that Sho projected onto him as, he almost completely abandons him.

Sho is the only little brother I like though, because he's a character with flaws and agency of his own. Mokuba, Haruto, both only exist as plot objects to give Kaiba and Kite sympathetic motivations. Truly, the best sibling relationship in the entirety of Yu-Gi-Oh!

Which neatly dovetails into Ryo because Shou and Ryo's relationship only makes Ryo look worse. Ryo is such a shit brother, and I'm not saying this because he makes his brother wear shock collars and electrocutes him until he passes out. Ryo's just like, this big brother with a superiority complex that sabotages his brothers self esteem at every corner. Ryo's so naturally gifted he doesn't get that people learn at different rates. I think half of his treatment of Sho is that logic, "Well, Sho needs someone to be harsh on him so he'll grow. Honestly, Ryo probably projects himself a lot onto Sho. It's not from lack of care for Sho, but actually how close the two brothers are. Ryo's logic is likely WELL I CAN HANDLE IT SO SHO CAN TOO. it's ironic because part of Ryo's early characterization is the respectful duel where you understand understand your opponents, but he doesn't understand Sho at all for like ninety percent of the show. He seems like Sho as a little brother and extension of himself and not his own person.

What I like about their appearance

I like how Sho resembles Yugi a lot, from his height to his silhouette. it adds to the deconstruction element of his character. By relying on the pharaoh Yugi slowly gains confidence in himself. Relying on Judai to do literally EVERYTHING stunts Sho's grwoth and poisons their friendship.

Ryo's design is absolutely perfect. No notes. He dresses like a thirteen year old's idea of what cool is.

Do I prefer their dub names or original names?

Hell Kaiser Ryo is the coolest fucking name ever, as well as Kaiser Sho, Zane and Cyrus couldn't possibly surpass that.

OTP

Kaiser / Fubuki is a favorite for me. Literally every time they interact it's golden. If they got to interact more than just, one duel, then they'd probably be my second favorite ship... but like characters are underdeveloped in GX compared to Judai, water is wet.

NOTP

I don't have one. I guess Judai and Shou because their relationship is super unhealthy. I don't see them as brothers at all either.-

Favourite moment they were in

Hell Kaiser Ryo being dragged to an underground dueling match in a cage where he gets shocked until he reaches his breaking point, and also develops a fetish for shock collars. Truly one of the most Yu-Gi-Oh moments in all of YuGiOh.

Least favourite moment

I appreciate the spirit of Shou remembering Judai's words that even if a friend went to the dark side and there was nothing you could do to help them the least you could do is watch over them until the end because they're your friend. On the other hand, Shou took "Watch over them" to literally mean just sit there and do fucking nothing while observing from afar.

Favorite thing about them: Her backstory,,, It's just a masterpiece, for me it's really the peak of bsd's writing. “We don't want your skill. We want that kindness of yours” and “You don't need a skill at all. There's real value in your sadness.” ueueueueueueue. In two chapters it made of a relatively flat character a complex and human one, and we love to see that.

Least favorite thing about them: Nothing, she's great??? I can't think of anything.

Favorite line: There's no line that hits me in particular I can think of, but I really like the emotion / delivery of some of them. This one I like tons:

brOTP: Aaaaahhh I love her I want to see her interact with everyone. Older-sister kind of characters are ALWAYS my favourite. I love her dynamics with Ranpo and I like to think they have this sort of sibling complicity of two people who have known each other for a very long time and love each other deeply. I like her relationship with Fukuzawa, I like how explicitly protective he is of her, I'm glad she has someone she can trust who looks after her and makes her feel loved. (Actually, the Yosano / Fukuzawa relationship makes me emotional. Because Yosano was so deeply traumatized and broken and basically dead when he took her under his wing, and she looks so healthy and confident and serene in the canon timeline, it's basically a miracle; and the only way this could have happened is by having someone who deeply loved and cared for her, someone who kindly guided her through every step of rehabilitation. It moves me a little). I really enjoyed her interactions with Atsushi!! And I like to think Yosano and Kyouka would hang out, I feel like Yosano would be happy to sort of return the favour and help back a little girl who was able to slip out of the darkness just in time; I can see them have this kind of inter generational relationship where they go shopping together and chat about girl things.

OTP: I really like kousano!!! I feel like Yosano deserves her spicy pm love affair too ahah. I think it's got lots of potential for both fluff and angst, and I believe it's a cool relationship to explore for both characters!! I wish they'd meet in canon. When I first watched the anime I was low-key into ranposano, and though I don't feel very strongly about them anymore, I think it's a nice ship nonetheless!

nOTP: Nothing. Really I don't dislike ships pffttt.

Random headcanon: Something I don't think I ever brought up but that I firmly believe in is that whereas all the other ada members live at the ada dorms, Yosano, Ranpo and Fukuzawa have their own house where they live together. Fukuzawa took Ranpo to his home when he adopted him, and then Yosano joined them when they took her in because I mean, there was no way that they could leave her alone, right? So they've always lived together, and they are happy together, they never felt the need to change that. That's the real ada found family for me if there ever was one. Really like deconstructing the idea of nuclear family or of the fact that children can't live with their parents as adults while still being independent. Also it just makes sense? And it's heartwarming to think that Fukuzawa, the lone wolf with no friends of relations, now lives in a happy and lively household.

Unpopular opinion: Yosano existing isn't enough to beat the bsd being sexist allegations, I'm so sorry everyone I wish that was the case.

Also Fräulein=Biblioteca by nyanyannya, just based on vibes alone (the purple butterflies!!), to mention something a little less depressing lol.

What are your opinions on other ships?For example Phylot or Milkplane?Would you ever consider drawing them or just talking about them?

I like Phylot a lot actually! I’m trying to see if there’s a way that I can incorporate it to my AU, but it’s been rather difficult since I have Afton as the main villain 🥲 Tho I did do a comic of them interacting recently, with a bit of tension to add some spice 👀🌶️ It’s up on my Twitter, IG and Facebook, but I’ll be posing it here as well after I’m done posting all the crap that comes before it 🤣

As for Milkplane, I don’t really ship that romantically, but I do see them getting along and being good friends. Fun fact, in my comic of Margarette telling Lois and Raft that Izaack was gonna be moving into the building, originally I had planned Steven to be talking to Francis about it, but I was having a bit of trouble with the dialogues so I changed it to Steven and Afton cx. But yeah, I’ll try to draw Steven and Francis hanging out some time, in my AU they get along rly well.

As for other ships… In general I think I can say I don’t ship Francis with anyone else that isn’t Izaack or variations of Izaack (doppelgangers or Zoth). Pretty much the same with Izaack, I don’t ship him with anyone else that isn’t Francis and variations.

However, I have liked a few Izaack x Angus fan arts I’ve seen out there. I don’t really ship it, but they can have an interesting dynamic sometimes 😆

Speaking of Angus, I don’t like Frangus, I’m sorry :’)

And I really really dislike Francis x Nacha. I think Francis x Nacha is the only NOTP I have.

Frangus used to be a NOTP as well, but since I’ve grown more fond of Angus, I can swallow it better now, but I still don’t ship it haha 😅

Sexuality Headcanon: Gay. So gay. Did I mention he's gay? I mean I think there is some potential wiggle room with Aerith but that's because her balls are bigger than his.

Gender Headcanon: I think in practice from an outsider POV, more agender than anything else. Gender is not really something that he thinks of and interacts with other than his discomfort with how he gets portrayed in the media. That said, I think if you asked him, he would say CIS male because that's how he self identifies so I'll respect that and say CIS male.

A ship I have with said character: Have I mentioned Genseph to you lately? No? Then I must be dead. Like I love AGSZC, I do, and even more than that, I love AGS in general because I believe they balance each other out but I could happily ship Genesis/Sephiroth on it's own maerits, but I can't see Sephiroth/Angeal on it's own. It's not a notp or anything, it just doesn't work in terms of balance for me. Genesia and Sephiroth fire and ice in balance and it just works. They push and pull at each other, both literally and metaphorically, and what they say and what their body says are sometimes in total contrast which fascinates me. Genesis is quite literally the choatic colour for a monochromatic world and Sephiroth needs that chaos to find himself so he doesn't get the desire for human smores.

A BROTP I have with said character: It's a toss up. I would say Aerith because that same feral energy comes from her (family trait clearly) but they both also have this shared experience of being former Shinra lab kiddos and her enthusiasm is only rivalled by Zack's. I feel like Sephiroth always needs someone to just grab him and move instead of asking him to come along and Aerith does that. That said, professionally, I'm fond of him and Tseng interacting. Like they have so much to deal with between choatic red heads and Heidegger being a few fries short of a moogle meal at his job, let them bond.

A NOTP I have with said character: Vincent. I can't ship something where 'that's not how your mum used to do it' is a response that could be canonically correct.

A random headcanon: Understands so much more than he's given credit for. I love to write roboseph as much as the next person, but I feel like he leans into it in a very Captain Holt type way and it's become part of his sense of humour to fuck with people by pretending he doesn't understand something or that he's not understanding their meaning till they get annoyed and let him be or call him on it. This is helped along by being so deadpan that it's almost impossible to know when he's being serious. He is a study in microexpressions and few people understand them.

General Opinion over said character: I think one of the things that throws me about Sephiroth is when people can't see CC era Sephiroth being the same guy as OG/AC era Sephiroth, but for me, this is one of the things that drew me to him as a character. That he is someone who got broken into pieces and is picking them up, emulating people, trying to rebuild a sense of self but clinging onto this belief that he's special because he's always been special. Like this is a person who is horribly broken in a lot of ways and one day, I want to write AC era and give him an arc with that but I think my main opinion of him is that I love that he's got all of these facets of his character.

He is the kid looking for validation and family from TFS, he is still the awkward dude from CC, he is the person who lost everything and chose to just get a meteor and start over and he's someone who is afraid of losing whatever he has of himself left. Like he contains multitudes, he's a fascinating character made all the more fascinating by the more normal things about him.

How do I choose... I like the weird bait and switch with his design,, like he looks so goofy and then you talk to the guy and he's the most mature guy out of the cast,, and despite his looks hes probably one of the more tragic characters right out the gate. His voice is a fucking jumpscare too,, is funny,, I like listening to his voice

least favourite thing about them

I wish Ryoma has more interactions with the cast like other than Shuichi.. like I'm going to be honest it felt as if he wasn't missed as much [I mean I think that's a problem with danganronpa in general where it seems like the students forget about other's deaths if no one was friends with them] Maybe that's Ryoma's fault for being so closed off but it would've been nice to see some kind of spark appearing with the other students before he died
