Seeing a transmasc online say something stupid and knowing that it’s going to be paraded around as an “example of why all transmascs are all evil and stupid men who are all predatory and can’t be trusted after turning to the dark side”

first of all, fucking source?
no one is changing the definition of woman. no one is completely getting rid of "female spaces". female spaces still exist.
if the thing your upset about is gender neutral bathrooms, then just don't use them. they are so rare and uncommon that you can easily keep track of how many are in you city and just... not go in them. of course, that's assume you exclude bathrooms in your own home, which are technically gender neutral. or on airplanes. but just stop and think about the absurdity of it all. you're mad at fucking bathrooms so much that you think that all trans people should be erased from existence because of it.
secondly, the "trans rights movement" is not an group or community of anyone organized. what you call the "trans rights movement" is just everyone who thinks that trans people deserve to live. trying to claim that an arbitrary and undefined subsection of people (who the only thing they all have in common is that they don't hate trans people as much as you) is counterproductive and makes the word "misogynistic" lose its meaning.
trans people are not all misogynistic. Matt Walsh, a man who has very close ties with jkr and has repeatedly attacked and abused women and also calls himself a fascist, is misogynistic.
people who want trans people to live are not misogynistic. the group of people who physically assaulted and tried to arrest my friend's cisgender mother because she looked 'too masculine' are misogynistic.
the entirety of the queer community is not sexist. the political right and the exact same people who voted to overturn row v wade and who are now trying to literally make it illegal to be trans are misogynistic.
notice the pattern? see how all the sexist and misogynistic people align themselves with transphobia? it's almost as if all forms of bigotry, racism, sexism, antisemitism, homophobia, and yes, transphobia, are all intertwined.
now I'm sorry you get rape threats and doxxed. because I do to. the school I work at had several bomb threats specifically because I'm trans. my home address has been leaked and I had to move to stay safe. personal photos of me were leaked online and circulated in terf circles for months. I have been attacked and abused several times. I survived csa from a coworker during a job I had during high school who specifically tired to rape me because I was trans.
I'm sorry you feel like a victim. but you are not the victim, because you can change how people perceive you. you can easily change your views, delete your blog, and live the rest of your life in peace. sure, I doubt most trans people will be egar to be your best friend. but you can go the entirety of your life without facing a single negative encounter with someone, because the hate you receive is because of your own actions. you are not facing backlash because you're (as you claim) a woman. you're facing backlash because you have extremely bigoted views that negatively affect the lives of others. and you can change your views and immediately stop facing backlash.
I can't do that. I can't stop being trans. believe me, I've fucking tried. nothing I can do will ever make me more appealing to fascists other than being dead. I live ever day of my life in fear that it might be my last. I have to always be able to handle any attack, because the slightest bit of retaliation is enough reason to justify my death and have my murderer walk free. I have to pretend to be cis. I have to protect myself from everyone, because literally anyone can be a threat to me. no matter what I do, no matter how I act, no matter how polite or respectful I am to people like you, you will never be happy until I'm dead. add on top of that the fact that every other trans person in the world also faces this ever single day, and the fact that a large portion of trans people are people of color, low income, and/or homeless, it just shows how you don't have it that bad.
and I hate to compare oppression, but that's literally what you do. you like to think that you're the most victimized people in the world who just have it so hard. but you're a upper-middle class white cishet woman. you're in second place as far as privilege goes. the only people who have it better than you are upper-middle class white cishet men, and it's not even by all that much. you're the second rung on the ladder of success. and instead of getting rid of that ladder and creating a world where everyone is equal, you sit happily in second place watching everyone below you crumble. because you can't conceptualize the fact that other people getting rights is not a threat to you. you have the sick idea in your head that only a certain number of groups can be near the top of the ladder at once. and the people above you have brainwashed you into thinking the ladder can't be removed at all, and that your enemies are the people below you. your problem is not trans people. your problem is capitalism, the people who uphold it, and the societal barriers that prevent everyone from having equal access and equal opportunity. and transphobia is one of those barriers. your only hurting yourself, and 99% of the people in the world. the only people you're actually helping by being transphobic is the ultra rich, such as jkr. (whose only achievement in life is writing a book that was filled with racism [bigotry against muggles, a Chinese character named Cho Chang, a black character named Kingsley Shacklebolt] slavery apologism [the house elves actually love being a slave race] homophobia [lycanthrapy being an allegory for aids, and one of the villain werewolves gives it to children, which is literally just the gay panic shit*] and massive antisemitism [the fucking bankers are goblins] but you didn't notice anything wrong with any of it because you were ten. but now you're not ten. now you're an adult. praising jkr for actively harming other while completely ignoring her bigotry.) and she doesn't even know you exist.
*interesting to note that the gay panic and people freaking out and making straight up lies that gay people were having sex with kids is quite literally exactly the same thing you are doing with trans people right now. you never fucking learn
also, saying that Jews are antisemitic for saying antisemitism is bad is not a good look.
She ain't even subtle anymore lmao

4 and 19 for the salty ask game
you didn't specify a fandom but im pretty sure you followed me for owl house stuff so i will assume you meant the owl house fandom.
4. Do you have a NoTP in your fandom? Are they a popular OTP?*
lmao if youve followed me for any time at all you would know i fucking hate the huntlow ship. huntlow ship my beloathed <3< <3< <3< :333 at least how 90% of the fandom portrays them. ppl will see a white angsty boy and immediately find the one shippable girl and file down all her character and make her his emotional support decoration.
to be clear, huntlow in the actual show is fine. i don't think them getting together would add anything to their character arcs, and since the show is running on a tight schedule i think they should have just cut that subplot out. i think there are ways to make them interesting but the show doesn't have any time to do that. there's barely anything substantial about the ship in canon anyway so i think it's fine. it's ignorable if you dislike it and its enough to extrapolate into a funny post canon ship if you do. my opinion on huntlow in the show is like my opinion on gustholomule. it's fun to consider but it's obviously not important to the story i actually care about.
but the shippers??? hoooo the shippers. first of all while i don't like to think about most fandom stuff from the stance of representation it's really important that owl house is like. THE gay cartoon rn. the creator had to fight tooth and nail and write around a bunch of stuff to get queer couples on air and make the fandom more receptive to it outside of a fetishistic thing or a "cute background couple that everyone acknowledges is canon but no one actually explores" thing. and then the moment a blond boy looks at a girl everyone explodes. im not calling ppl bigoted for shipping it bc i dont know the exact reasons every single huntlow shipper likes the ship but the fact that they also try to use rep to justify it? even though 90% of them didn't give a shit about the non white boy half of the ship before the ship became a thing? not a great look for the average huntlow fan lmao.
also the mischaracterization of both characters, especially willow, is super annoying. it shouldn't be a hot take but characterizing willow to be a brute that tries to beat up everyone who looks at her wrong? and indicating that hunter, a survivor of child abuse, is attracted to her because of this? uhhhhh don't like that! its one thing to portray this and explore why its bad but that sure isn't what 90% of the shippers do! youre allowed to depict any dynamic you want but im allowed to say that depiction sucks shit! same with making willow to be either a 50s housewife or a manic pixie dream girl she isn't any of that? literally just make a self insert to ship hunter with if you want his ya love interest ass so bad.
anyway ive complained more about the huntlow ship and its place in fandom here, here, here, here, here, and here, among others. a lot of my points are in the tags lmao. that isn't to say all huntlow shippers are annoying some of them make genuinely good content thats in character for both of them! but the shipping community is. bad. and i already didn't care for the ship anyway so they haven't made my opinion better. it was a mistake for the show to put hunter's conventionally attractive angsty ass into a shippable position lmao.
19. What is the one thing you hate most about your fandom?
I think part of this phenomenon is because the fandom skews younger since at the end of the day toh is a disney show rated for kids. but there's a phenomenon ive seen with a lot of young skewing fandoms where fans assume just because the thing they like is diverse, that automatically exempts them from being bigoted or even having implicite biases. like "i cant be racist my friend is black!" but it's with fandoms so they have even less of a leg to stand on. ive been guilty of that too in the past and im trying to examine my biases both in fandom and more importantly in real life.
the fandom has a serious favouritism towards the white and/or male characters. just look at the disparity of opinions on the blight parents, even before clouds on the horizon. or even better, before s2 when all we had on them was just a background shot in lilith's flashback. people were already portraying odalia as a catty evil woman and alador as his uwu tortured husband whos scared of her, before we even knew their names.
same goes for other female villains compared to the male ones. all the villains are different so there isn't a one to one comparison but generally, the reactions to villains like darius (right after his first appearance in edas requiem) and graye were a lot more nuanced. most people who talked about them were trying to write meta about them or finding them sexy or thinking about a redemption arc.
and compared to female villains like terra or kikimora? i am serious about this they were objectively more compelling villains than darius or graye in their debut, if you discount kiki's minor appearances in s1 and just look at hunting palismen, her first episode as a major villain. and yet most people talking about terra and kiki after the fact were just calling them bitches or other more sexist stuff i won't say. and being mad at them for...doing bad things to the protagonists? bc they're villains? i get the lack of thirsting but no serious meta? ive grumped about it here. also i wasn't in the fandom during the week between agony of a witch and young blood old souls where everyone wanted lilith's head on a stick but from what ive heard? yyyyeah i don't think they were just mad at her for being a villain.
same thing with the white characters people always give so much more focus on the white characters compared to the poc. luz had a bunch of angst like amity in season 1 but 99% of lumity content focused entirely on amity angst. the hyperfocus on hunter is something to note too. i get that fans love angsty characters. i do too. but him being a white boy definitely didn't hurt his popularity lmao.
its a problem in the show too so not all the blame falls on fans. the show focuses on majority white characters as well. even though the show is very racially diverse, luz's most important relationships except her mom are eda, amity, and hunter, and gus and willow are pushed to the side. same thing with their portrayal of some female characters i love what they did with terra and kiki but their portrayal of odalia...oof. i've grumped about that here.
but yeah if you point this out a lot of fans get uncomfortable or even angry at you for accusing them of, in their eyes, being a Bad Person who likes Bad Things and have Bad Thoughts. so they argue back that there's no definitive proof that any biases are happening on a personal basis. and yeah i can't prove beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law that you're actually secretly racist or sexist but if you just look at general trends in the fandom? the bias is there. it's not a problem of individual people it's a problem of fandom culture.
anyway i don't want to say fans who do this are bad people because judging by the ages of some fans toh might be baby's first fandom for some of these kids. they haven't had enough life experience to really examine their biases or even determine their principles. it would be mean to condemn kids for having biases, especially since i also did that at their age and i'm still trying to deconstruct my biases now. these kids need to learn about nuance in media and also that fandom is not activism, but it's not my job to teach them this. this is annoying but it's a reasonable price for being in fandom. especially a fandom for a show targeted at kids.

The ccers are just like the gop
Watching the Impeachment testimony today it’s a nightmare for the gop and Trump. Ambassador Sondland has admitted everything we knew was true using the words “Quid Pro Quo” and admitting that everyone in Trump’s administration knew. Watching the gop then try to defend Trump is a disaster or outrageous lies, conspiracy theories, and distraction.
Reading this thread from the cc coven, I’m reminded of how similar their tactics are to the gop’s. This thread is full of lies and conspiracy theories that have been duped and yet these people- like Nunes, Jordan, and Stipanik- clearly believe the lies they share. The two groups have built their knowledge bases on these lies. These faulty foundations don’t hold up to even the smallest of scrutiny. People living in reality can see the faults, but sadly ccers and the gop don’t see reality and live in an imaginary world where they are always right.
ajw720 answered:
It is hard to me to select the one thing that i find the most offensive, there are just so many. They have also named at least 2 drinks based on breast size, Good Rak (I forget the exact name) and R2DD2. you know reducing women to their body parts. And of course the one called C3PHO that is implying that women should be called whores if they decide to exercise their sexual freedom. And we are even touching on the innuendo which maybe isn’t offensive, but is extraordinarily immature. Or the fact that they have naked women gyrating on the bar and simulating sex with teddy bears in a PIANO BAR where on a different night you can sing d/isney tunes! (Abby refuses to understand that the drink names are NOT to belittle women but to take ownership of the words away from those who use them against us. She has been told this but she needs to be angry at Mia so she refuses to even think about it=faulty foundation)
But hey, according to her stans, I am closed minded and they are progressive. (yep! That’s true). You know what it reminds me of? The individuals watching the impeachment trials and daring to say that these upstanding, career public servants, many of whom serve both democrats and republicans, are liars because they refuse to admit the bigot in the WH is a criminal. (Nice try but no, you honey, you are those people. Faulty foundations)
D looked really drained to me last night, and we know he is PBB free in NYC. I have to imagine the way the are smearing his name constantly is weighing heavily on his soul. My heart hurts for him. (In fact, 3 of the 6 people in at least one of the photos has the same neutral face. Other photos, released later that night show a gleefully happy Darren=faulty foundations. Photos at the end.)
ajw720 Can I just add one thing? The “marriage” was forced by D’s team, and this includes his extremely powerful PR agency. (NOT TRUE= faulty foundations) Why are they not reading and reviewing everything posted by that offensive institute prior to its release? (Because Darren controls his own life and his business is not part of what Sunshine Sachs does for Darren). That would be working FOR THEIR CLIENT. Instead, they are allowing that bar to actively harm his character. (Such a stupid argument. Why would Darren continue to pay them if they were actively harming him? Abby this one is so stupid you need to stop=faulty foundations)
I hope that there is a time D can sue them for defamation, I really do, because to me, this is an absolute outrage. (Well we are a decade in, when you believe that could happen, Abby? Ya know ....using your legal knowledge?)
This flannel shirt theme stunt has made my blood boil more than most. (This just pisses me off. My daughter read this post, called herself a dyke and said.“I just wish I could go.” She was wearing a flannel shirt)
notes-from-nowhere My question is: why M has been forced to drop “s/unsetstrippa” (and f/etus but, let’s leave one of the sock account behind for a moment)? (Fetus IS NOT MIA. OMG THIS IS SO STUPID=Faulty Foundations) That was not her decision.(WTF? Of course, it is=faulty foundations) So, why? I’ll tell you why: given that the plan was to make her relevant for everybody besides for her nanny, it was embarrassing for D (and his team) to have her tagged by colleagues and various celebrities with that childish nickname. Do not even try to tell me this is not the reason (Faulty Foundations).
So why isn’t the same level of “courtesy” reserved for your establishment? Quite frankly “s/unsetstrippa” was far less offensive than what happens constantly in&out of that place. When will we see day D will be treated with the respect that a man in his position should have by default? And above all, when his team will accept that they are no longer managing a teenage dream? Controversy as a way to make someone famous it doesn’t work as a shortcut if there is nothing behind that people might like. (I honestly don’t understand this sentence so I have no good debunk...Darren was never marketed as “teenage dream” and he certainly currently isn’t= Faulty Foundations)
It’s time to remove D from the TS/G narrative once and for all. M dropped this place a long time ago and it has no meaning for D’s career, let alone finantial reasons since he is just the piano man and not the owner. (Well “finantial” reasons aside, Darren and Mia own the bar. They don’t work there. -=Faulty Foundations).
ajw720
Sadly she dropped that for another made up name that they have used to mock D. It is unfathomable the way D is being treated.
And honestly, I don’t know why more people aren’t screaming about this bar and how people don’t see or ignore how offensive it is. (Because only someone who refuses to live in reality actually sees the bar as problematic. It’s a queer-safe space that celebrates the LGBTQ community in ways that MAKE SENSE TO THE LGBTQ Community. Just because Abby doesn’t understand it doesn’t make it wrong= Faulty Foundations). D does his best to distance himself, but it is his name front and certain in every article about the place and he is the one on TV naming it repeatedly (I love this nonsense..so is he distancing himself or is he the name that is connected often?)
Where are the people protecting the actual marketable commodity’s interest? The person with talent that is at the top of his game? I have never seen anything like this. (Its all made up in your head=Faulty Foundations)
notes-from-nowhere You know one of the reason his team keeps ignoring things like this bar is because people bring gifts to M. (OMG...this is just a stupid thing to say) Because even if these people know everything about t his place, how rude the staff is, how undrinkable and overpriced the drinks are, how annoying and out of place “certain activities” inside of it are, they swallow their beliefs and words to go there and have a picture with D to post on their social media (This is all conspiracy theory and absolutely Faulty Foundations. This is exactly like Nunes repeating all the conspiracy theories tied to Trump this morning. I’ve looked at these and most -if not all- of these are not real.)
As long as there will be people that put their interests ahead of D’s wellbeing and public image, his team will keep to ignore how hurtful behaviors and bar are. They will buy an article on a random magazine that will praise the bar, D will be forced to publicly say the its name and so on. (Faulty Foundations)
D’s team is not protecting an investment, they are making money out of people. And people is allowing them to do so.
leka-1998 Yesterday someone asked me why I keep being angry at the things they do or don’t do, at what’s going on at that bar that screams M. Why I even had to point out that flannel theme. Because I shouldn’t be surprised at all. And I’m really not, but the way they are destroying D’s character really gets me. He’s currently getting more attention due to M/idway and AB, two great projects. Both are/will be seen by a new audience. I’m sure HW will be big too. A competent and well-meaning team would care how D looks, what he’s associated with. They don’t. And no one can tell me that’s not wrong. (The idea that Darren can’t take control of his own life is pretty gross. Nobody lives this life they imagine- it’s outrageous. Faulty Foundations)
ajw720 Obviously everything annoys me about the circus that surrounds him. But I can mostly laugh about the Halloween BS or and the excessive praise she receives as none of that ultimately affects D’s character and his reputation. But this bar, it is so harmful and it potentially could be so damaging. Imagine a theater goer looking up D after AB and finding their IG full of discriminatory themes/drinks and extremely immature innuendo. And D’s name is what that bar is associate with, not his “bride” as she doesn’t do anything, but D who is the one promoting it the media regularly. He has not promoted anything in his life more than the bar over the past 2 years. Not even his fake nuptials. (Yes, Imagine what it looks like that Darren’s bar is a queer safe space. OMG How horrific!!!!!!! How doe he live with himself? The ONLY People who are upset that TSG has LGBTQ programming most nights but Disney on other nights are those who are homophobic!!!!!!!!!!!)
And I truly do not understand how anyone dismisses this stuff or says we are the ones who are wrong. Some of the marketing ploys are blatantly and clearly offensive. And yet it continues and no one seems to care that D is the only one that could potentially be hurt by this as it is his career that they are jeopardizing. And M is praised as a role model for disparaging women and members of the LGBT+ community. (YOU are literally claiming that the gay women who runs Dyke Night doesn’t know anything about-or respect - her own community... but YOU do. SHUT THE FUCK UP ABBY)
It is revolting (yes you are) and it is really important that we document it and discuss it and continue to highlight it and I don’t care how much hate i get for doing so, people need to realize what they are doing. (The “hate” should be a HUGE WARNING SIGN Abby. But you see EVERYTHING as proof you are right and it doesn’t matter how hard it is to get to “I’m right”, how much you have to twist the truth or makeup stories about Darren's lack of personal agency, it’s all confirmation bias for you. YOU ARE WRONG and these comments are homophobic). And maybe it won’t be today, but at some point he will get free from his tormentors who are hell bent on destroying him and we will have the public record of everything they did to actively harm him. Faulty Foundations).
klaineownsmysoul This is precisely the kind of place that a real pr/management team would work overtime to keep their client away from instead of pushing it relentlessly as a point of pride. There’s nothing remotely redeeming about it and like that farce of a wedding, nothing that reflects D’s personality. It’s beyond tacky and juvenile and straight out of the wheelhouse of a 20 year old frat boy. You expect me to believe that the same person who wrote beautiful songs like “Not Alone” or “TDTDIO” also decided to name a drink period sex? (Yes!!!!!! because people are complex animals. But also because that same person wrote “Me and MY Dick” =Faulty Foundations). the words of Trevor Noah, get the fuck out of here. But I’d expect nothing less from his team at this point: a group of people who think class and notoriety are equal. I live for the day when he gets a team to actually support him instead of trying to further themselves through him. (His team by law has to support him but also WHY THE FUCK WOULD HE STICK WIT HTHEM If they weren’t helping him? He’s not a moron=Faulty Foundations) No one goes to events hoping to see D’s manager on the drums. There are actual musicians out there who are more than qualified. (And yet Darren chose Ricky to play drums for him=Faulty Foundations). Go do your actual job for a change.

hey @venusianenvy did u know that LOADS of people who ship incest ships and create art/fics about fictional incest are actually irl incest abuse survivors? do you understand even the most basic, simplistic definition of "cope/vent art" or catharsis? but even if thats not the case, you better get comfortable with the fact that incest has been depicted in fiction and human culture for tens of thousands of years (looking at the greek gods, for starters) and some of the most mega-popular mainstream series in the history of media are full of incest (ever heard of game of thrones?)
the fact is, abuse victims are allowed to be uncomfortable at ship art of some fictional anime siblings. no ones telling them they arent allowed to be squicked out or whatever. but its THEIR responsibility to click away if they see it, block the tags, and/or block the artist. it is NOT the right of ANY victim to police and control the artistic expression of other people, sorry. i know for a FACT that you arent going around and screaming "BUT WHAT ABOUT VICTIMS OF VIOLENT CRIME OR MURDER?" on every post about hannibal or horror movies. if something triggers you, its YOUR responsibility to manage your emotional reaction. this is literally the first thing youll learn from any therapist. your triggers are up to you to manage, no one else. i bet you arent sending your hilariously wrong, bad faith performative outrage to george rr martin or stephen king, right? i promise their books have been read by 10000000000x more people than some niche anime fanfic on ao3
this attitude is the same kind of bullshit that christian bigots pull whenever they demand that queer books and queer shows be banned because "it will ruin the brains of our pure innocent children" lmfao. if you dont want to see it, dont fucking look at it. block the artist and move on with your life like a normal person
@radfemsiren thats because radfem ideology is rooted in the same exact fundamentalist, puritan conservatism as actual literal fascism. radfems literally expouse the same exact garbage rhetoric and moral panic as the pro-censorship far-right. read literally anything about the history of art censorship in fascism and the nazi party and youll see exactly where radfems are religiously parroting the same exact puritan ideals. theres a reason why so many white supremecists and nazis always show up at radfem public gatherings, and theres a reason why those nazis are welcomed among radfems with open arms. when every single public gathering/protest embraces the nazis who turn up to support you, you should ask yourself why that is
@blind-seeing fandoms are dying for a number of reasons, not the least of which is the hostile and aggressively puritan environment people are desperately trying to turn it into. when every single attempt at artistic expression, whether it be through fic or art, is stamped down by performative moral outrage and artists are constantly harrassed, attacked, threatened, and suicide baited by terminally online puriteens, do you really wonder why nobody wants to make art or fics any more? do you really wonder why nobody wants to engage with fan communities or talk about the things they like, when everyone knows that an army of wannabe cops are foaming at the mouth waiting for the chance to jump on anyone who likes drawing two fictional cartoon characters the "wrong way"?
hey do you guys remember when like. brother/brother and sister/sister and brother/sister ships werent just normal, they were really common? parent/child ships werent as widespread as sibling ships but you still saw both of them a lot. like you used to see incest ships all the fucking time.
like you couldnt go five minutes on this hellsite without scrolling past wincest or thorki or any number of the dozens of popular hp incest ships. do people not remember the onecest takeover? the onecest dynasty? what about elsanna? what about all the fontcest that came out of the undertale fandom? mha fans loved shipping the entire todoroki family together. what about game of thrones just in general? the hitachiin twincest? literally everyone from osomatsu-san? usuk and all the other incest ships from hetalia? fucking HOMESTUCK?
it used to be that you couldnt throw a rock in ANY fandom without hitting a whole bunch of super popular incest ships. it was everywhere. it was NORMAL. because people didnt care about what anyone else liked in fiction, because everyone knew the difference between fantasy and reality. and its not like incest hasnt been one of the most popular porn categories all over the world for years.
now though, with the huge resurgence of evangelical puritanism in western fandom and the massive influx of alt-right christofascist antishippers, nothing is allowed to just be fiction any more. braindead little conservative assholes and bigots will scream and shit themselves over people shipping the elric brothers because fandom isnt allowed to be fun any more. antis will see someone talking about sebaciel and start spewing their disgusting rhetoric at everyone and being TERFS and wannabe cops until nobody wants to participate in fandom any more.
fandoms are dying and its antis fault

i fucking hate the stag/doe - butch/femme thing. I hate it. I hate that we are explicitly told that we’re not allowed to use these terms, and for what? I went a’googling to see what lesbians were actually saying in regards to why they’re lesbian-exclusive, read the arguments straight from the horse’s mouth, and it amounts to this:
TERFs (and no, I do not mean lesbians = terfs, I mean it is TERFS who came up with this) straight-up believe that bi women and trans women just weren’t there in our history. They say that butch and femme carry the weight of a painful history and fighting for our rights in the words, and that when anybody but lesbians use the terms, they’re putting it on like a fancy dress and calling it an aesthetic.
As if bi women and trans women just straight-up weren’t there for that history, too.
They argue that ‘nobody fights men to use phrases like bear/otter/twink! and quite frankly, i’m pretty fuckin’ sure bisexual men and/or trans men can happily use those terms, too, so shitty argument there pal.
So they kick us out of a history that we were actively a part of, and younger lesbians who want to do the right thing but don’t know the history of this argument latch onto it, and bisexual people... Within the last year... Create the terms stag/doe, since it’s evidently morally wrong to use terms that are part of our own history, but since we can experience the same kind of dynamics in our relationships, we need SOMETHING to describe them. And what do people say?
‘wtf this is so dumb/fucked up, this is just watered/down butch and femme, they’re literally the same thing, why would you make up new words to mean the same thing?’
because we experience the same goddamn thing, just because we like multiple genders doesn’t mean we always hop on “opposite” genders, we can have relationships with similar-gendered/nonbinary people, even outside of a relationship we are still part of the community, we still experience Gay Attraction, and it can still be part of our identity because we’re still LGBT+, but we’re not allowed to use those terms! We’re damned if we do, and damned if we don’t.
I hate the wave of separatism that we’ve gone through. I hate the idea that everything has to have shit exclusively for them, even if it has a history of being used by multiple sexualities. I hate that people think No Experiences Overlap Ever, when in truth, marginalized people (and I don’t mean just queer/LGBT+ people - I mean PoC, disabled folks, etc) have SO much more in common than anyone might ever think. Yes, some groups do have things that exclusively happen to them, as a white person i’m NEVER going to fully understand the struggle that brown and black people go through, there’s SO much i’m still ignorant to concerning that, i’ll never pretend all our experiences are exactly the same, but there are also at least some issues that I can strongly empathize with because I hear what they go through and can see similarities in the way i’m treated as an AFAB person or as a bi person or as a nonbinary person. A microaggression because you’re gay and a microaggression because you’re brown are both microaggressions, even if they’re presented in different ways, over different issues. Multiple groups are denied housing and jobs for their identities, even if it’s done quietly behind closed doors so the law doesn’t crack down on peoples’ bigotry. As a trans person I can feel the personal pain of my people being accosted in bathrooms by bigots, and I can look at how black people are assumed to be criminals by virtue of simply walking around in a store, and even though the issues are very different, I can see the similarities - we both are mistrusted by “””normal””” society based on hideous stereotypes - and I can feel for them, even if I don’t experience being assumed to be a criminal personally. I listen to them and I believe them not just because they’re fucking people who deserved to be listened to and believed, but because I have seen how general society treats people like me, so why should it be so hard to believe they could be treated like shit, too?
People think that our struggles are so fucking exclusive that they lose all empathy for other groups, thinking that the only people who have ever suffered are themselves. It’s always baffled me that LGBT+ people can be so fucking ignorant and racist and hateful when you think they’d be able to tap into their own hurt and understand that other people are being treated in similar ways because they’re ‘different’, too. But then again, LGBT+ people can barely understand how other subsets of LGBT+ people have struggled, so I guess it shouldn’t be that surprising. I think of how ace people can write a laundry list of things they personally experience, and other subsets will scoff and say ‘yeah as if we don’t go through that too’, completely fucking ignoring what that overlap means. Thinking that since they go through that, anybody else who reports that they might, too, are just Faking, or trying to steal the spotlight. How can people so completely lack empathy? Why are we not there for each other? Why do we not care about anybody else? Why can’t we recognize the same fucking pain we’re all going through, even if that same pain comes in different flavors, and try to be there for each other because nobody should have to go through what we’re going through?
Like, it’s a complicated issue. Like I said, yeah, groups do have stuff that effects them exclusively, and it can be frustrating to express unhappiness with something exclusive to your group and have people who clearly aren’t actually understanding what you’re going through say they can relate. But denying that there are any similarities at all just drives us farther apart when right now marginalized people desperately need the support of one-another.
(I was gonna give bi people’s Double Discrimination as an example of that exclusivity, unwanted by communities on either side of the fence, since obviously lesbians and gays don’t experience that... But y’know who probably can empathize? Mixed race folks. Or folks with invisible disabilities. Or ANYONE who’s caught between both communities, not x enough for one and not y enough for the other.)
Speaking only of communities that I am personally in: in LGBT+ circles, separatism breaks up the subsets and causes infighting. In circles concerning disability and mental/physical illness, it isolates its members, denies them support, makes them feel like nobody truly understands, even people dealing with the exact same disability or illness, because symptoms can be so widespread and varied. Hell, even when dealing with our oppressors, separatism fails to actually try and change the views of the people oppressing us: i’d much rather have narratives where men are gentle, kind, feminine, loving, supporting, open to their emotions, and respectful permeating our culture, teaching young boys how to be as they grow, than narratives where men are just evil.
There’s a lot of gray area. There are people who have been so hurt by oppression that I do not blame them one bit for prescribing to a separatist narrative. But I mean in a general sense... I don’t want separatism to be pervasive. I don’t want it to be the mindset people automatically turn to regardless of what they’ve gone through. I want sympathy and support for the people who have been hurt, and I want the groups that have been doing the hurting to change. I want people to recognize the similarities between each other and be unafraid of empathizing and sharing.
The butch/femme and doe/stag thing is a result of separatism, and I can see where they get the idea for it - basically pulling the ideas of appropriation from communities of PoC telling white people not to appropriate their stuff - but they’re lashing out at the wrong people. When a white person appropriates locs, they’re seen by the public eye as being carefree, trendy, and cool, while black folks are still punished for wearing the same look that occurs naturally for them. When a white person puts on a war bonnet, they’re seen as being high-fashion and ‘exotic~~~’, while literally desecrating a sacred part of a culture they don’t belong to in any way, shape, or form. When a bi person calls themselves butch, they’re a part of the community that shares the exact same history, their histories are literally interwoven, and experiences extremely similar dynamics, at the very least, as lesbians. These are two very different things. Tell cis/straight people not to appropriate the terms, but remember, other LGBT+/queer people aren’t fucking cis/straight.
anyways this got way longer than I was expecting but shit, I got like 60 followers, who gives a damn what I say, right? peace.

Ok so that dude who doesn’t fully understand what YKINMK means sent me a lot of hate in DMs and immediately blocked me afterwards like a coward, so let’s talk about what that phrase means.
First off, they very much give off vibes of outraged cishets that can’t see why ribbing of The CisHets TM by queers isn’t the exact same as bigotry. (A) It takes a power dynamic to truly give something heft and (B) it’s not always maliciously intended in the first place, it may be just general venting (C) in this case, it was barely even conversarial, in fact it was an attempt to join in on an expressed idea and more or less agree with it???
Now, can such actions be bigoted? Yeah sure. If it’s hateful or vitriolic enough, even stuff directed at majorities is technically prejudice. But if it’s, say, offering a certain outsider’s perspective as a queering of norms? Nah.
So, what does this mean for YKINMK? It means that everyone has squicks, things they’re neutral about, and things they enjoy.
It’s just that for an allosexual, experiencing squick might be an extreme fetish they personally feel not good about. To them, it’s weird, and not in a good-weird kind of way where you’re fascinated by something. A clearly, individual perspective, weirded out feeling. Feelings happen.
If you are uncomfortable with the idea that Other People, And Yes That Includes (and we’re specially addressing) Fellow Kinky People, May Find Your Kink Weird and Off-Putting, then you have some growing up to do. To learn that everyone is different And That’s Ok.
For an ace, the queering of the norm is that the squick is ...... just plain sex.
A vanilla person may be squicked by kink- and a kinkster by other kinks- but those are both norms. One to a lesser degree than the other, but a very common experience.
And let’s not mince words here- most asexuals are not sex-favorable. Their existence does not excuse you trying to silence me AND speak for us!!
Using sex-favorable aces as a battering ram to stomp on an overall iny minority ain’t cool.
As if it is unreasonable to allude to sex repulsion, or something.
Some aren’t even touch-favorable (as in, touch-averse.)
I’m not going to hold your hand and put “SR” aces in front of everything I say. I’m the one that’s been in the ace community for a decade. That you assume I don’t know these things is peak of hubris.
Now. If SR and NSR aces requested I do it? Yeah. sure. maybe. We’d have a conversation about it. That would be coming from the marginalized and not dictated by you, though.
Coming into DMs to dump and run, and claiming with utterly batshit logic that someone clearly queering a norm is “claiming to be normal while the other is deviant” is some Master’s Degree level mental gymnastics and is clearly indicative of projecting unresolved self-esteem issues from being bullied by the people who actually think they are normal and you’re not (vanilla cishets vs. you)
Now is this aceohobic? No. Was the reblog misguided and trying to speak for aces? Yeah.
To claim that an asexual, one percent of the population, is staking a claim to normalcy is ......
Well it’s quite literally the most absurd thing I’ve heard this year probably. Perhaps the previous year too.
i think that what people need to realize is that there is something inherently comical about sex. no matter how you go about it its gonna be at least a little bit funny

first of all, the way you worded this comes off as belittling, i dont know if that was your intention but thats how it feels. i'll answer regardless but know that i and anyone else with a nuanced identity are not obligated to to justify our identities to you because you dont understand it or at the very least respect our right to self determination. im going to be so honest with you when i say that sentiments like this in the queer community (as in "i dont understand your identity therefore it is bigoted to me personally/the rest of what i deem the 'real' community") is a deep plague to us. stupid ass discourse (which is almost exclusively an online phenomenon, btw) is not helping progress us as a community with ourselves or with non-queers, it isnt helping fight the often times life or death issues we face and it sures a hell isn't helping/uplifting anyone in our community; in fact i would argue it is doing the exact opposite of all those things.
anywho, on to answering your actual question. you clearly already know the literal definition of these terms but i feel your understanding of what being bi, pan, otherwise mspec, lesbian, gay, etc is incomplete (and i am not claiming mine or anyone else's is either, out of eight billion people it would impossible to understand every label as every individual sees themselves in relation to it). so let me just go over some things:
bi does not always mean attraction to two genders (often defined as two or more), it does not always mean attraction to both men and women (for example you could only like women and nonbinary people or any other combination of genders), and it is not always static attraction to the same two genders at a fixed preference (see the term bi-cycle, people who may or may not identify as abro/orientationally fluid may also identify as bi. not every bi person always likes two or more genders at the same time)
m-spec does not just mean bi, pan, omni, poly/poli/ply, abro. it is an UMBRELLA TERM for anyone who likes more than one gender. that can mean a lot of things to a lot of different people.
lesbian/gay/homo have not always meant exclusive attraction to the same/similar gender. lesbian started out as an umbrella term much like how sapphic is used now and gay started out as a derogatory term. in my opinion nothing about the term homosexual/romantic/etc indicates that it is exclusive, just that it is attraction of a same or similar gender or is queer in nature
heres a more tangible example of the labels being used like this: a bi lesbian who does not like men (likes women + nonbinary people, may or may not identify as enbian/diamoric/cenelian/etc), a genderfluid person who is only attracted to women so is sometimes hetero and sometimes lesbian (not inherently an mspec identity the way i described it), a multigender person who is homo- for both genders making them gaybian/sapphillean/etc (thats what i am!), a bi/abro/fluid person who always/commonly likes men and sometimes likes women might identify as bi/abro gay/straight, so on and so on. and thats not even getting into split attraction model (for example being bisexual homoromantic). are you starting to understand that conceptualizing queer labels as being rigid, "opposites" of each other and incapable overlapping is not reflective of people's experience with their identity and the way they chose to label it?
i feel like the reason behind some people understanding queerness like this goes back to recent gay rights movements which, while have been pretty affective and by far are a net positive, has "dumbed down" queer reality to make it easier for non-queers to understand. to make us more digestible, more conforming to "the norm" (which i have gripes with as it leaves many of behind, specifically those of us who cannot or dont want to conform to those norms). an unfortunate side effect of this is that now almost all queer representation in pop-culture is seen through this lense of digestibility, of respectability politics, which leads to even people in our own community (especially those who dont know an in person community and/or dont know queer history) understanding what we are and what we are capable of being as less than what it is.
if you'll notice mspec gays/lesbians/straights include both terms in the name, because the person in reference to the term is both. "why are you terrified of just being bisexual" i am just bisexual, i am also just lesbian, i am also just gay, i am also just something that no label will ever be able to fully describe. i like labels for myself though, they make me happy, so i stitch them together in a way that is me. do you understand yet? having a nuanced identity like this is not biphobic, homophobic or denying yourself what you are; it is quite the contrary, the labels i use were born from a deep love for myself, for how i experience identity. if you think being bisexual makes you "normal" thats your problem because i promise that is not the case. and ill say it! there are MANY ways relationships between a man and a woman can be queer (trans person with a trans person, trans person with a cis person (if that is how they see their relationship), transman/masc/etc in a lesbian relationship, transwoman/fem/etc in a gay relationship, aromantic or asexual spectrum, polyamory, male-female mspec relationships, and more). people seem to think that the label fits the person, the label controls what they experience, but that is not the case. all queer labels are opt-in, you choose them, that is the point. what they mean to the individual is extremely personal and unique to them. they are entirely subjective much like nearly everything else in life.
expand what you think it means to be queer, kill the cop in your head.
I habe so many questions for tumblr
what the fuck is a mspec straight, mspec lesbian, mspec gay.. like genuinely why don’t you just say bisexual?? Or pansexual?? Are you scared of being that? I mean I think it’s a little biphobic and homophobic to be scared of just saying you’re mspec 🤷♂️ why are you so terrified of the concept of just being bisexual. It’s like you quiver at what you truly are, because you’re scared of being seen as “normal”. just my thoughts lol.

[ID: The same image as above, now with another pin, showing two flags: an autistic flag with stripe sof orange, yellow, green, and blue, and and ADHD flag with stripes of dark red, yellow, orange, red, and dark red. End ID.]
how could I forget the white queer people who are autistic and/or have ADHD who use their neurodivergency to pretend that there's Just Nothing They Can Do to stop themselves from being a bigot, because their hyperfixation forced them to??? who pretend like having a special interest or hyperfixation is the same thing as literally being controlled by a demon who is posesssing them????
Who try to claim that it's completely fucking impossible for autistic / neurodivergent / ADHD people to be bigots, and they never use their disability as a shield for consequences???
So many fucking autistic/ADHD people do this that it's at the point where every single fucking time I call this behavior out, at least one random fucko comes out of nowhere to claim that I'm making this up and lying to make people with ADHD/autistic people look bad.
As though I'm not literally autistic and have ADHD. As though I am not literally calling out problems from within side the community.
I call out autistic people who act like being autistic means it's impossible for them to harm anyone or be bigoted in any way -
and am immediately accused, by a racist autistic person, of "making up an autist to be angry about" while they do the exact shit I'm calling out, because they think it's impossible for neurodivergent people to be bigoted -.-
Or that time I called out the fact that most of the times I've been sexually assaulted, it was by an autistic man. And everyone flooded the post saying I was demonizing autistic people - even though I fucking said multiple times I am also autistic, and no, for fuck's sake, being autistic doesn't make it okay to violate people's boundaries. It is, in fact, your personal responsibility to not assault people, and no, you do not get a free pass just because you're autistic.
Autistic and ADHD white people will literally see you say "it's your responsability as an individual to be a good person and not harm people" and will claim you're being ableist and demonizing autistic men for talking about the fact that it was specifically autistic men who assaulted you multiple times -.-
Anyways, as a white person who is autstic and has ADHD, any white autistic/ADHD people who do this shit? I am personally kicking your fucking ass.
[ID: A very simple digital drawing showing a white person wearing a rainbow pin holding a book towards the camera, while smiling with their eyes closed as though pleased.
The book is titled, "Bigoted garbage propaganda that's literally nothing but bigotry and propaganda for bigotry".
The person is saying, as they smile:
"It's perfectly fine for me to love and celebrate this media, because I'm pirating it! The writer isn't getting any money from me, so there's nothing wrong with me obsessing over and creating fanart and fanfiction for this and telling everyone who will listen that it's the best most fun thing ever :3 look at my blorbos, they're so perfect! Yes, you should get into this!!!! It's so good!!! I'll send you the link to pirate it!!!! :D".
End ID.]
Because too many white queer people think that being queer means it's impossible for them to be bigoted, and think they can do any bigoted thing they want, and consume and endorse and celebrate bigoted media without this having any negative consequences, because the bigotry doesn't affect them personally, whether it be racism, antisemitism, ableism, fatphobia, transphobia, misogyny, or any other kind of bigotry.
As long as they aren't personally impacted by it, they think their queerness cancels it out, so it's perfectly fine for them to celebrate and worship bigoted media and encourage others to do the same.
No, it's not okay to you to keep worshipping the ground your favorite bigoted media walks just because you're pirating it.
You don't get to scream and cry and whine about how you're enjoying it critically (which are just buzzwords you don't actually understand the meaning of) any time someone criticizes the bigotry in it.
Just because bigotry doesn't impact you personally does not mean it's not there.
No, you do not get a free pass to celebrate bigotry just because you're queer, or face any other kind of oppression.
Get some fucking solidarity, or drown, assholes.
This applies to any media it applies to.

It's a bit complicated to respond to someone who uses exlus unironically but I'm just going to try and clear some stuff up, I see how there's room for misunderstandings in some things I said since my English may not be so good, let's try this again.
1. "Allo" is a prefix. A group of letters place before the root of a word. Nothing else. Can be use to denote and differentiate any word. That's just how grammar works. Allosexual and allistic are different words that mean different things (ie. The prefix "UN" UNhappy and UNrealistic are different words that use the same prefix)
2. I do not think that, and nowhere in the point I said I did. It's literally what the prefix allo means, its etymology. (It also applies to allistic)
3 . (I don't agree with the use of "folx" here but the point remains)
Coding has always been part of the gay experience, it's how we survive
4. It's not piggy backing, and we also make fun of it. And I'm sorry to say but yes we do, I'll explain more on point 6
5. That's what I mean with interacting with people outside of this site. A post made by some teen on tumblr hardly encapsulates ace people. No adult ace person I've ever known in real life has ever used these terms or compared themselves to stupid fictional characters
6. I'm not calling you queer personally. This is not a targeted response, I'm only debunking the notions. If you don't use the label that's fine, but you need to understand that every single term gay people use has also been used by bigots as slurs. Since the beginning of time. We are not enemies to each other, cishet people who call us these things are,
6.2. Yes people think it's a womans duty to please men and have babies and that misogynistic but a straight woman will not be threatened with rape to "correct" her based on sexual orientation. It's very different to threaten a woman with rape to have children and threaten a woman with rape to change her sexuality. It affects all gay women. lesbians, bi women and yes, ace women. Also I am a man, not only women get threatened with this.
7. I do not know you, you're right. But again, this is not a targeted post, I am speaking in the general sense. The fact that you source tumblr posts does not give me much to go on either. I was not trying to be condescending and I stated all the points as matter of factly as possible to avoid this
I have been called the Spanish equivalent of the exact same slurs, I have been threatened while doing activism, and so have a colleagues and friends, we're all different labels yet the bigotry from cishets is always the same
I know its difficult to open up to the idea that other people have suffered as well. Especially when you don't know them. Especially when you get your info from tumblr.
But again, in this world, anyone who is not cishet has suffered some form of bigotry, we should stand together as a community. Buying into exclusionist rhetoric only divides us, makes us susceptible to harm and channeling our frustrations against anyone other than our oppressors does not help anyone.
This is not a personal attack, I just want to clarify
I still can’t believe how the ace community stole the a-spec from autistic people (it makes no sense for asexuality to be a spectrum, come on) and coined “allosexual” as a clear copy/paste of the term “allistic”. Live and let live, but asexuals should really stop trying to c&p things from other communities and try to make it their own. You don’t get to cry and be the victim for doing awful shit and being an asshole.
They also stole black rings from gay people protesting marriage inequality, turned a well known example of casual homophobia (the phrase "no homo") into the haha quirky joke phrase "no romo", copy common LGBT jokes but make them unfunny, tried to copy butch and femme with "cupcake and dragon" labels, co-opted the lesbian term stone, literally MADE UP THEIR OWN STEREOTYPES BECAUSE THEY'RE NOT OPPRESSED AND DIDN'T GET STEREOTYPES FORCED ON THEM, and co-opted the q slur (which can only be reclaimed by lesbians, gay men, bi people, and trans people). Their entire community is built on shit like this
#long#its impossible to change a mind that's set but at least i want to be as informative as possible#that's it#*#gay shit

1. You literally lied about me "supporting pedophilia" because I dared to point out that being against censorship laws isn't supporting CP. You might not have intended to advocate for censorship laws, but that is exactly what you're doing.
2. I was a victim of actual CSA, using Mario and the Ninja Turtles as grooming tools. Am I allowed to claim that anyone who makes a post about Bowser is supporting pedophilia? Or is it how the media was used and the people I was trusted with, rather than its existence, that was the problem?
3. So... Why do they use the word "pedophilia" when it involves nothing but grown ass adults? Why do they call it "pedophilia" when it has absolutely nothing to do with kids in any way? Why do they call it "supporting pedophilia" when someone who has actually been charged under obscenity laws for a fair representation of a Biblical scene says "obscenity laws are bullshit, even when they're aimed at content I don't like?" Why do they call it pedophilia when people say "actually, harassing and abusing people is wrong?" WHY DID THEY TRY TO REPORT ME TO THE ACTUAL FUCKING COPS AS AN ACTIVE CHILD RAPIST?
And why didn't they call it "pedophilia" when they sent actual CP to its subject?
4. Internet antis are, however harassing people en masse for daring to object to these government abuses of power. That's exactly what this is about. People are smearing and harassing Neil Gaiman with the exact same lie you're spreading about me, because he dared to say that laws against icky content are bad because the government, not you, decides what is icky. This is a problem. And as a trans lesbian, I'm fucking furious that you would use a bigoted lie that has been used against our community for generations against someone for disagreeing with you and then hide behind your identity.
Furthermore, once again, I'll remind you that antis have literally filed false police reports, and sought to file more, against people they disagree with. It isn't their fault that channels of state violence exist, but they are absolutely responsible for using them.
I've never said "don't express your disgust. In fact, I literally expressed my disgust at content that sexualizes children in the post you're replying to here, you disingenuous little shitweasel. What I'm against is harassing people, launching smear campaigns, and trying to destroy people's lives over rumors and misrepresentations.
5. You're not dissenting, you're strawmanning. You're taking issue with a bunch of shit that wasn't being said, and using that anger to spread false and damaging lies about queer people and encourage a crowd with a history of violence. That's the problem here.
6. Oh no, things that can help trauma survivors are accessible to trauma survivors. I'm so very glad I don't live in anti world - I can go for years at a time without seeing a single piece of media that eroticizes children. This shit isn't exactly in the window at your local bookstore - it's generally in quiet little niches, behind numerous labels and warnings about exactly what you're getting into here. And I don't want to get into that, so I stay clear. I don't harass creators, I don't make galaxy-brained posts about how oppressive laws that hurt queer people are good actually, I don't call anyone who has a different relationship with things I find gross à pedophile.
See the difference?
I'm not saying "CP is good actually, putnit everywhere!" I'm saying that, despite being heavily triggered and squicked out by anything remotely sexual interacting with anything remotely childlike, I don't think we should throw people in jail, harass them, expose them to CP, or bake them needle cookies when they haven't actually hurt anyone.
And, y'know, that it's a little fucking hypocritical to do all those things to people who haven't hurt anyone in the name of making the world safer.
For fuck's sake, did you even read what Gaiman was saying? In one of the cases he cited, the creator was banned from making art that anyone might find offensive in any way, and subjected to random police raids to enforce that.
In what world, exactly, is being appalled at cops regularly tossing someone's house looking for such dangerous contraband as paper and pencils, lest a racist homophobic granny somewhere see something that makes her say "well I never!" a BAD THING?
Yours, apparently.
Now get the fuck away from me until you care as much about actual violence to queer CSA survivors as you do about lines on a page.
Several nations: *have extremely vague obscenity laws, including at least one whose literal legal definition of obscenity is “I’ll know it when I see it”*
Their courts: *use this intentionally vague morality law in the usual fashion*
Queer bookstores: *go out of business due to legal costs*
Queer creators: *go to jail*
Creators of colour: *go to jail*
Neil Gaiman: This seems… Bad.
Neil Gaiman: *gets involved with fundraising for the legal defense of creators and stores being harassed with these laws*
Neil Gaiman: *is forced to smuggle works of great cultural importance due to obscenity law*
Neil Gaiman: *does a comic featuring a scene from the Bible*
Sweden: *charges Gaiman with obscenity*
Neil Gaiman: Yep, this is some bullshit.
Neil Gaiman: … And that’s why I don’t support censorship laws, even when they’re used against the icky things - because they will inevitably be used way more often to hurt marginalized people and valuable works.
Antis, inevitably: OMG Neil Gaiman supports kiddie porn!
