This is a Death Note gift exchange of fanart and fanfiction that works just like Secret Santa. You will receive a gift of art or writing from your very own Secret Shinigami, and return the favor by creating a gift for your very own Kira. This time, we’re celebrating the birthdays of Naomi Misora (2/11) and Halle Lidner (2/18).

I finished Raincode chapter 5.

IM GOING TO STRANGLE KODAKA (for legal reasons this is a joke)

uerhfhgh. no. literally one of the things i said to my friends as i first started the chapter was that I hope the game wouldnt end with shinigamis and yumas pact ending. guh. AND THE GOODBYE KISS. NOOOOOOO

I didn't expect like to be genuinely invested in Shinigamis and Yumas partnership, but they we're just so cooperative and soft this chapter I can't take it

I called the "everyone was killed and replaced by a humonculi" and the meatbun twist pretty early into the chapter, I felt so smart even though it was likely easy to deduce seeing as its one of the first things you figure out in the mystery labyrinth

I ALSO predicted that Makoto was the humonculi of Number One, what i DIDNT expect was that YUMA WAS NUMBER ONE. WOW. I felt so much for Yuma like what an identity crisis

also the ending...

Yakous still dead, Yuma has his memories back and isn't the same Yuma I've grown to love, Shinigamis pact is over, the Nocturnal Detective Agency is now abandoned and empty

I can't be mad at the ending, it makes sense, it delivers on what it wants to deliver, its a decent conclusion, but GOD DAMN IT I just want everybody to be okay and being good ol detectives together and Yumas an amnesiac with his little ghost partner... I kinda wanna write a self indulgent fic but idk if I have the willpower for that.

I will say playing as Kurumi in the epilogue surprised me, and the after credits cutscene was interesting. I also checked the eshop to look at the DLC and the first one releases tomorrow I'm pretty sure?? so that's interesting timing on my part

Sometimes I wonder what reactions some of the Bleach captains/lieutenants would have to the things said about them online and I just cackle so hard. I think Shunsui would be very flattered at least.

Shunsui would be a tumblerina in the realest way possible. He would be sending out posts like 'Nanao-chan said no naps before noon anymore ):' and responding to thirsts about him without shame. Complete with little emoticons before hitting you with the 'Feels nice to hear!' and 'How inspiring!'

If anyone would be very cool about the concept of online thirsting it is Shunsui Kyoraku 100%.

I think there would be plenty who would just pretend it doesn't exist Byakuya, for SURE, is pretending to have never gazed upon a screen in his life if the subject arises. Although considering how steady his daily routine is, the odds are if he's seen anything it's been via another shinigami shoving their soul phone in his face to show him what's what. Probably Rukia.

Hisagi, Renji, Rukia, Matsumoto, and those of that generation are fucking jazzed about it mostly. They're having drinks and tittering about who can find the best compliment or the most down bad thirst. They, with their combined brain powers, have probably found a way to make a group chat by now, even. With the power of the manual. And team work.

As long as we gloss over the paranoid death god association being paranoid about a bunch of people online knowing about them, I think most of them would be mildly flattered or have fun with it if they found out but wouldn't pay it a ton of mind.

@sybarite-shinigami inquired: I’ve been wondering for a while how'd you come up with the ideas and stuff for Miranda's lore/storyline?

(( The usual way, mostly! I do a lot of research and reading in nonfiction spaces and incorporate that information into my writing, I read fiction and seek out new and novel ideas other people have had, I think long and hard about the themes that I'm working with and the characters that I'm using, I chat with people about my ideas and listen to theirs, I'm constantly refining them over time and double-checking myself to work out any kinks, I look for inspiration in my own life and experiences and what's around me, etc etc etc!

It's really just a big bundle of inspirations that I slowly sort through to see what direction I want to take something and what feels right for what I've created, and slowly refine over time to make sure what I have is what I want. I'm also one of those people who very much writes what I would personally like to read, and have such highly specific genres and ideas that I often get frustrated that they don't exist already.

That, and of course the fact that I've been here for 6 years now, so I've had quite a lot of experience already refining what I want Miranda's story to look like and how those beats go. It's not really like I'm flying blind, I have experience with what doesn't work and what does!

what’s your honest-to-god opinion on Gin?

Ya expectin' some kinda big CONFESSION? ❞ There was amusement in his voice, because he couldn't believe that he HADN'T gotten his opinion about Ichimaru across strongly enough. How many times did he have to say that he HATED THAT FUCKER? Their personalities were at odds. Nnoitra hated how Ichimaru was always making comments that got under his skin, seemingly for no other reason then to fuck with him and make him mad ( even more annoyingly - it worked ). So yeah, his honest-to-god opinion about him was that he was an annoying asshole who Nnoitra would prefer DEAD. What more was there to say?

Secret Shinigami, a semi-annual Death Note fic and art gift exchange, is looking to add a new moderator or two to complete our team. Mod duties include:

Matching up participants to give and receive gifts

Formatting and queueing submitted gifts

Following up with participants about instructions, issues, and extensions

Pinch-hitting for any participants who drop out

Changing the blog theme and posting announcements/applications for each round of the exchange

A Discord account is required to apply, as all mod communications and discussion take place on Discord. Prior modding experience and experience with making art/graphics are both pluses, but not required.

I don’t hate the anime. I think it does some cool stuff. And I discovered Bleach through it. I just think it would be a shame if someone only ever experienced Bleach through the anime, especially the beginning.

Whatever was going on with that Secret Remote Squad shinigami in the grand fisher episodes was so jarring I had to go back and read the manga chapters to keep the vibe. Like, that’s such an impactful part of the manga for Ichigo & Rukia!! We begin to see hints at the pain they share. And Ichigo landing on Rukia, mirroring Kaien’s death, hits so hard when you go back to read it!!!

BUT THIS SHINIGAMI DUDE?????

Like his intro was good. The flashing lid on his hat was funny. But the rest was comedy in a ‘is this really happening, did they really green light this’ kind of way.

Whoever put him in was REALLY vouching for their OC.

Seeing a flashback of this shinigami dude in Ichigo’s thoughts, among his regrets that Yuzu & Karin suffered without their mother, when we KNOW those weren’t his dying words and he is SLEEPING and we DONT KNOW THIS GUY AND HE GAVE KARIN A NICKNAME LIKE HE KNOWS HER BUT I CANT STATE ENOUGH THAT WE MET THIS DUDE FIVE SECONDS AGO was them just going ‘no, no, the shonen formula can make anything sad, don’t think about it’.

Anyway, this is just me still being viscerally affected by that dude before I start the Soul Society arc in earnest. Hope he’s somewhere giggling as Soi Fon asks for his report.
