i may talk about him a lot, but it's never enough, so here are five new facts about the king of my blog aka grant 👑

when grant wants to feel something, he'll watch videos of the curiosity rover on mars singing happy birthday to itself 🎂 it's so incredibly sad but cute to him, so it immediately turns on the waterworks lolol 🥲

objectively, grant is NOT a car guy; he's 110% an airplane guy. however, he owns a car that makes him look like a car guy and gets him approached ALL THE TIME by people who want to talk cars. it's a 1960 ford galaxie and it looks like this, except i think it would be a nice shade of light, almost minty green or maybe blue (no, i haven't decided, and probably won't because there's no cc version of this car for the sims 4, so we'll never see it lol) 💚💙

why is that his car? 🚗 well, it was his grandparents' car, which he bought off them when they wanted to replace it; they have never had a garage or a carport in their entire life, so the car was exposed to the elements for fifty years, and it was, thus, fucked up. they were also tired of fixing it. however, it's a sentimental car because aoife and joseph met working on the same production line at a ford auto factory, and this car was the first one they bought as a couple in their marriage (even though aoife ironically does not know how to drive lmao). they wanted it gone but also didn't, you know, so grant bought it because he also didn't want to see it gone; he'd spent his whole life sandwiching into that backseat with 8 billion of his cousins. oh, aaandddd he bought it even though the necessary repairs were extensive, which he did all by himself with help from his grandparents and uncle (aka people who know shit about cars)

a shorter fun fact: he smokes luckies 🫢

grant has been on TV before! it was very brief, for like five seconds, but he was interviewed by his hometown news station after his high school hockey team won the state championship game one year and he was granted the MVP title. he was very nervous, and his friends ended up nicknaming him "mr. team effort" because his entire interview was him just saying things like, "oh, um, well, it was a team effort, and we worked really hard...together...as a team..."

is it stupid to buy a loom if i'm planning to replace it with the 50cm version of itself, possibly quite soon/as soon as i get frustrated with only making 9" wide fabric. i'd currently be getting a good deal on the loom + stand, but i'd have to resell the loom for pretty close to its original sale price in order to have meaningfully saved money on the accessories it comes with after buying a new one, & i really don't think that's realistic. so i'm going to go with "yes that is dumb" and may just buy a new loom at rhinebeck if no one's selling a table loom near here that i can get to and actually would want

I'll make this post easy & provide you with a short list of sites I've used

mercari - I shop here the most by far, it's very straightforward like any other online secondhand market. If you buy from here I'd be vigilant in reading the item desc./sellers bio, as some sellers want you to comment before purchasing an item or they'll likely cancel your order, & in more specific instances some women will only sell to women buyers (things like clothing, cloth items for obvious reasons--)

yahoo auctions - it's comparable to ebay

rakuma - more so for collectables,etc. (think flea market) so it's rare you'll find something like a cd

discogs - I've bought some things here that I never expected to find, only once have I ever not received something, though I'm sure it was a problem with the postage as I'd bought from that seller before with no problems..

straight from an artists webstore - self explanatory lol

If you choose to buy from japan based sites & you live outside of japan, you'll need to use a proxy. Buyee is really convenient & easy though I've heard their fees are steep compared to others

umm yeah, my last bit of advice is just to explore & find whatever works for you, I know there are an abundance of other websites like cdjapan, suruga-ya, puresound.. but, I can only speak on the ones I've personally used.

+Sometimes people in the community will list things for sale if you keep an eye out, so there's that too.

sirenity: workman's. calloused and rough and covered in a million little marks. they have most of their nails, only missing one, and one of them is permanently split. in motion half the time and holding something for the other half.

constantine: softer than sirenity's but not by much. significantly less marks, though. he has all his nails, and keeps them cut short. nervous but not unsteady.

nora: pre-war she'd be a fan of acrylics. post-war that's not really an option. her hands were rougher in her youth (parkour, roller derby), softer as she became a lawyer (but not soft soft, she still encountered more than her fair share of papercuts), then rougher again during her stay in the Commonwealth. doesn't really cut them until they become an issue, except for The Important Ones iykwim

hestia: honestly hers are probably the softest, but still not, like, baby soft. Adult Who Has Lived A Life sort of soft. like Nora, she wouldn't really cut them until they became an issue (again, except for The Important Ones) and the main callous is where they rest a pen/pencil
