yeah it's clear that Aziraphale has been making an effort to include Crowley. Besides, this moment, there are so many more where it's clear Aziraphale is trying to carve out a new way of existing for them.
He calls Crowley all the time to tell him about his day (well we don't see him do this but Crowley essentially says as much in the coffee shop)
He immediately goes to Crowley for help about naked Jim. He doesn't ask for help at first. At first they follow the rules of their dance and Aziraphale makes it clear he needs something and Crowley deduces what it is: "is this something i can help you with?" But later when Crowley is refusing Aziraphale says "i would love you to help me!" that open admission of need, which we see again later, is huge! S1 Aziraphale would not have said as much out loud. The times we see Crowley helping him in season 1, Crowley is the one reaching out and offering help, Aziraphale does not seek him out then. He does now.
He's all around more comfortable with being with Crowley in public. They go to the coffee shop together, and Aziraphale introduces Crowley to Nina instead of pretending to have just met him.
He's comfortable with the other shop keepers of the street seeing them together when Crowley pals around with Aziraphale while he tries to set up the meeting/ball. They go to the pub and share a drink in public together!! and it's different from when they do this in Rome or go to restaurants together because it's on the bookshop's street and they run into mr. brown, someone Aziraphale knows, and Aziraphale doesn't seem embarrassed or try to hide his connection to Crowley. We also see this in 1941, where A and C are together in the magic shop and in the theatre, so someone Aziraphale knows sees them and someone Crowley knows sees them, and neither one is embarrassed of the other or tries to pretend they don't know each other. this is huge for them, especially in 1941 pre-armageddon when Aziraphale is trying to be more cautious.
Aziraphale tells Crowley about the situation with Maggie and Nina and seeks his imput about the situation.
Aziraphale doesn't show any hint of distress being with Crowley in front of Muriel. At this point heaven already knows they work together so there's no point in hiding anymore. but still, Crowley looks perfectly natural sitting on the arm of Aziraphale's chair as they both talk to Muriel, on the same side.
our car. "we both get plenty of use out of it don't we" enough said.
and like mentioned above, he tells Crowley about the Clue, his trip, and calls him when he gets updates. This is such a far cry from the scared, secretive Aziraphale we knew first season.
now of course this doesn't mean he was perfect. A lot of the time he includes Crowley in the sense that he shares his intentions and plans with him, keeping him in the loop, but a big problem for Aziraphale this season was that he did not listen to Crowley or respect his imput. He got an idea of what he wanted to do in his head and he did it whether Crowley cooperated or not. but even so, just sharing knowledge with him and including him in his everyday life was a huge improvement for Aziraphale when you consider what their relationship was like before.
unfortunately, there are instances when we see him regress. The confrontation with Shax being a good example because he never tells Crowley about that. my guess is that, despite the progress he'd made, Shax's threats against Crowley activated Aziraphale's fear response and he defaulted to the old pattern of just pretending it didn't happen. that's what happens when you try to change old habits: when you're emotions are high, you default back to what's familiar. you have to make a sustained conscious effort in those instances to take a different path, or you'll revert back.
you could also argue that he doesn't keep Crowley in the loop about the ball, but i think part of that was because he wanted it to be a surprise, because he was nervous, because he knew he wanted to dance with Crowley.
basically, all I'm saying is that I don't think we fully acknowledge how much effort and change Aziraphale was showing this season. He and Crowley had lived one way, and their relationship had been one thing, for thousands of years. then after the apocalypse, they headed into completely uncharted territory. Aziraphale didn't have any tools with which to navigate this. they went from being under constant threat to suddenly being completely unsupervised. And it's clear that when we see them in s2, they're at a standstill in their relationship because they both don't know how to take the next steps. and yet, Aziraphale still tried his best, in the only way he knew how, to make some change, and i think when we consider it in the grand scheme of things we have to applaud him for that.
and although it feels like all of it was for nothing im the end, because he still goes back to heaven, we have to remember that in this case, Aziraphale leaves not because he's running away, but because this time, for perhaps the first time, he's running towards a future together. for the first time on his own he's taking action to shape a furture where he and Crowley can be together. his leaving at the end, although it seems regressive, and in many ways it is, it is such a powerful declaration of love. S1 Aziraphale was not able to take that leap for the both of them until it was almost too late. now he is walking towards the danger to face it head on because a life with Crowley is something worth taking a risk for, and he's trying to fight for that in the way he thinks is best. you guys, this is the same angel who wouldn't even acknowledge he knew Crowley before. he's done so much growing you guys. it wasn't enough to prevent their separation, but it's still there, and i think it will bring them back together in the end.
The fact that Aziraphale emerges from this flashback
Makes this face
and then with a ginormous gap on the right side of the screen, proceeds to be like "I must call Crowley right now immediately."
#Aziraphale really truly loves Crowley#and it's so tragic that that love comes from beneath such a fraught and complicated surface#they're both trying really hard with the limited tools they have available#it didn't work out but that's not their fault#asking them to navigate this relationship in a healthy way is like putting someone who's never seen a body of water on a raft#im the middle of the Atlantic#with a map written in a foreign language#and asking them to sail to Greenland#and also there's a hole in the raft#and sharks circling below#and people in military grade sea craft with radar and gps and shit are actively hunting you down#and you don't even have a paddle#of course they're going to struggle#good omens#good omens season 2#aziraphale#good omens s2#good omens meta

Challenge: Transatlanticism
BUG'S SONG Title: Agamemnon Lyrics: I am aboard the Agamemnon, we are laying down a line It's gonna cross the ocean floor, the greatest project of our time A telegraph from Newfoundland will reach the Irish Shores but by by the time this note arrives you will not love me anymore
I am aboard the Agamemnon, laying cables in the sea For the purpose of the president to parley with the queen As for me, I've got this letter that I'll send you in the morn but by the time this note arrives you will not love me anymore
You will not love me by the time you read this note You told me you would wait if I had to go I keep your photo in a locket to remind me of my home
but while aboard the Agamemnon I have so much time to dream of a world where I can reach you with no middle-man between And maybe when we're done I'll get my turn, as a reward but I never got that chance, now you don't love me anymore When I made it to Niagara, you didn't love me anymore
You will not love me by the time you read this note You told me you would wait if I had to go I think of you so often with no way to let you know
This is only the beginning, this simple cable in the sea Soon we'll have radios and satellites and waves we cannot see No one'll know the pain of loving one they cannot reach
I'd commandeer the Agamemnon and I'd sail it back to shore it's just a faster way to learn that you don't love me anymore so I'll keep laying this cable for the lovers not yet born so that they may never hear "No, I don't love you anymore"
MATT'S SONG Title: The Tollbooth Lyrics: When Britain's national health service was launched in 1948 it set sail in the wake of the second world war when the country's citizens the upper and lower classes both the rich and the desperately poor had served together, side by side and the ones who survived the horrors came home demanding to no surprise more
we did not fight, they said in our millions just for things to return to the way they were we didn't die they said in our hundreds of thousands just to save a country where the leading cause of death is poverty and perhaps for the first time in british history the aristocrats and the working class agreed on something largely that arming the nation and teaching them how to fight and die for what they believe in makes their demands somewhat more convincing
and so barely three years after the soldiers had come home on july 5th, 1948 the british health system was torn out by the follicles and rebuilt in a new vision that it would be free at point of service, that no one, NO ONE, would be turned away or trapped into debt by lack of personal means that it would be available to everyone who walked through the doors of a hospital or a GP's office and that the well off wouldn't be able to skip the queue this was radical beyond comprehension a truly universal healthcare system doctors across the nation barred their doors and hired personal security so sure were they that the empowered impoverished would storm their offices demanding medicine and aid only to find on that monday morning a polite queue of people in need who for the first time were able to receive the treatment they would have had since birth if they had been born into a wealthier family
the trouble is healthcare is one of those futureproof industries like plumber people are always going to need water and if you can fix their pipes you are, within reason, set for life and the hospital and the doctor's surgery are no exception people are always going to get sick they're always going to get injured at the very very least everyone has to be born and everyone has to die and you would be an idiot would you not if you had the opportunity and the presence of mind to not set up a tollbooth at the well-worn bridges that lead into and out of this life
i am being faceitious of course who thinks like this who is so calculating and cruel that they would look at the legions of dying and sick and feel not compassion but greed who would see not the faces of their own parents, friends and children but a sea of investment a captured market a well of bottomless profit
it would be inappropriate for me to delve too deep into the catacombs that are the American Healthcare System if you are listening from those shores, then you know better than i do how it feels to live in fear of a broken bone of a cough that won't go away of a necessary surgery or a birth in the family I have personally met people who were having to choose between treatment for a treatable disease and a slow death So as to have something to leave their loved ones in their will A meagre windfall, after all, is infinitely preferable over a cascade of debt Maybe, at best, you are simply aware of how lucky you are To not fear these things as many do The privilege of being able to treat mild maladies as the inconvenience they are rather than an existential threat
I bring this up only because The profit machine that is the american healthcare system Is hungry And needs to be fed There is no such thing as too much money There is no endgame in an investment portfolio Where you find the princess in the very last castle and the credits roll There isn't a kill screen where the arcade machine craps out and kicks you back to the beginning The score just keeps getting bigger and bigger, the numbers getting longer and longer, Separated by decimal points and letters and commas And when the numbers get so unwieldy that we run out of space, Eh, we'll just start printing the end of year reports in landscape The machine needs to eat And the painkillers and bloodied sheets of 333 million people could only satisfy it for so long Its eyes, inevitably, have turned east
And what do you think it sees? When you have broken your arm and are getting it cast at 3am When your parents start visibly ageing and wilting When your child gets a cough that won't go away Do you think it wants to help? Or do you think it wants to fucking eat them?

Throwable Flotation Devices: Items like throwable cushions or life rings can be lifesavers in emergencies, especially for aiding someone who has fallen overboard.
Fire Extinguishers: Boats with enclosed engine compartments or fuel tanks should have a fire extinguisher on board. Check that it's appropriately rated and in good working condition.
Navigation Lights: These lights are crucial for night boating or when visibility is limited. Make sure all lights are operational before setting sail.
First Aid Kit: Accidents happen, so having a well-stocked first aid kit onboard is essential. Include items like bandages, antiseptic wipes, pain relievers, and seasickness medication.
2. Navigational Aids: Enhancing Boating Safety

Entertainment Systems: Enhance the onboard experience with entertainment systems like marine speakers or waterproof Bluetooth speakers. Enjoy your favorite tunes while cruising or relaxing at anchor.
Conclusion:
Boating is a rewarding experience that offers adventure, relaxation, and the opportunity to connect with nature. However, ensuring safety and comfort onboard should always be a top priority. By investing in the right boating supplies and accessories, you can enjoy peace of mind and make the most of your time on the water. Breaking The Illusion: Challenges And Mitigation Strategies Of The Sea Freight Transit Time Calculator
In the world of moving goods across the oceans, we all love smooth sailing, right? That’s where the sea freight transit time calculator comes in—an online tool that promises to make our shipping journeys predictable. But, hold on! Before we set our hopes too high, especially for those of you who manage shipping and stuff, let’s take a closer look.
Think of a sea freight transit time calculator as a sort of GPS for your shipments at sea. It sounds great, doesn’t it? But as we delve into this, let’s not ignore the bumps in the water. We’re about to uncover the real deal—challenges and limits that might not be so obvious at first. So, whether you’re new to shipping logistics or you’re the seasoned captain of your cargo ship, join us as we unravel the mysteries and get real about what these calculators can truly handle. After all, in the vast sea of shipping possibilities, a little wisdom goes a long way. Let’s dive in!
Misconceptions About sea freight transit time calculator: Navigating the Waves of Frustration
In the complex world of shipping, sea freight transit time calculator often present themselves as helpful guides. However, let’s delve into some aspects that might not be as sunny as they seem.
Getting to the Reality Check:While these calculators claim to be digital captains, promising smooth sailing, the truth is they sometimes miss the mark. Imagine relying on a captain who occasionally takes detours, leading to uncertainty about when your cargo will actually reach its destination.
How They Might Mislead: Sea freight transit time calculator, despite their promises, can be more of a guessing game than a precise tool. Communicating arrival times to customers becomes a challenge when these calculators offer estimates that might not align with reality. Planning your inventory or production schedules based on these estimates could result in unexpected hiccups.
Not as Easy as It Seems:Using these calculators might not be as straightforward as it appears. The simplicity promised often turns into frustration when clicks don’t lead to accurate information. It’s like having an app that sometimes works perfectly and other times leaves you scratching your head.
Adding Complexity to Your Shipping Woes:In the world of shipping, where timing is crucial, sea freight transit time calculator might not always deliver on their promise of on-time arrivals. Businesses relying on these tools might find themselves dealing with unexpected delays and unhappy customers.
Whether you’re a logistics planner or a business owner, it’s essential to be aware that these calculators, while touted as helpful, might introduce more complexity than convenience to your shipping journey.
Challenge 1: Varied Shipping Routes and Conditions
Navigating the Seas of Complexity:Sea freight transit time calculator face their first hurdle with the intricacies of diverse shipping routes. Juggling multiple paths, each with unique challenges, makes pinpointing an accurate arrival time a challenging task.
Weathering the Storm of Unpredictability:Changing weather conditions add another layer of complexity. These calculators often struggle to factor in sudden weather shifts, impacting shipment speed and safety. From unexpected storms to calm stretches, real-time weather effects remain a challenge.
Unforeseen Events, Unplanned Delays:In the unpredictable sea, unforeseen events like accidents or port disruptions can disrupt even the best-laid plans. Sea freight transit time calculator may not always incorporate these events, creating a gap between estimated and actual transit times.
For businesses relying on these calculators, understanding these challenges is key. While valuable, these tools operate in a dynamic environment where the seas hold the power to introduce uncertainties in logistics planning.
Challenge 2: Inaccuracies in Port-to-Port Estimates
Getting Port-to-Port Predictions Right: Sea freight transit time calculator want to give us exact times for when stuff goes from one port to another, but it’s not always a smooth ride.
Port Traffic Jams: Picture this—lots of ships trying to dock at the same time, creating traffic jams at ports. These calculators struggle to predict these delays, making the estimated times a bit shaky.
Customs Confusion: Then comes the customs part. Every country has its own rules, and sometimes things get stuck in customs. These calculators find it hard to guess how long it’ll take for things to get through all the paperwork.
Surprise Delays: But wait, there’s more! Sometimes, things just go wrong unexpectedly. Ships need maintenance, unexpected checks happen, or workers might go on strike. These surprise events can throw off the calculator’s predictions.
Understanding these challenges helps us see that, while these calculators are helpful, they might not always nail down the exact time your stuff will go from one port to another. It’s a bit like predicting the weather—sometimes it’s spot on, and sometimes it’s a little off.
Challenge 3: Dependence on Shipping Line Schedules
Relying on Shipping Line Schedules:The sea freight transit time calculator heavily relies on the schedules set by shipping lines. These schedules dictate when ships depart and arrive, forming the basis for calculated transit times.
The Ripple Effect of Schedule Disruptions:The challenge arises when these schedules encounter disruptions. Shipping lines might face delays due to various reasons—mechanical issues, unexpected maintenance, or even global events affecting maritime operations. Sea freight transit time calculator, tethered to these schedules, might struggle to adapt to sudden changes, affecting the precision of calculated transit times.
Navigating the Unpredictability of Maritime Schedules: The maritime world is inherently unpredictable. Shipping line schedules are subject to alterations influenced by factors beyond anyone’s control. Weather conditions, geopolitical tensions, or unexpected events can send ripples through these schedules, impacting the reliability of the calculated transit times.
Adapting to Reality: Understanding the dependence on shipping line schedules reveals a critical aspect of the challenges faced by these calculators. While they strive to offer accurate predictions, the dynamic nature of maritime schedules underscores the need for businesses to be adaptable. Recognizing that disruptions happen enables a more realistic approach to logistics planning in the ever-changing seas of global trade.

Essential Boat Safety Checklist and Equipment: Your Guide to Safe Navigation
Introduction:
When it comes to boating, safety should always be a top priority. Whether you're a seasoned sailor or a novice on the water, having a comprehensive boat safety checklist and the right Boating Equipment can make all the difference in ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience. This article will guide you through a detailed boat safety checklist and highlight important safety equipment that every boater should have on board.
1. Boat Safety Checklist:
A boat safety checklist serves as a systematic way to ensure that all necessary safety precautions are taken before setting sail. Here are some essential items to include in your checklist:
1.1 Predeparture Checks:
- Verify that the boat is in good condition and properly maintained.
- Ensure that you have the required documents, such as registration and insurance.
- Check the weather forecast and avoid going out in adverse conditions.
1.2 Emergency Contacts:
- Keep a list of emergency contacts readily available, including local Coast Guard, marine police, and a reliable friend or family member.
- Make sure your mobile phone is charged and waterproofed.
1.3 Navigation Equipment:
- Ensure that navigation equipment such as GPS, charts, and compasses are in working order.
- Double-check that all necessary navigation lights are functioning properly.
1.4 Personal Safety Equipment: - Life jackets: Have enough properly fitting life jackets for all passengers on board. Make sure they are easily accessible and in good condition.
- Throwable flotation devices: Keep a throwable device, such as a ring buoy or a throw bag, within reach.
- First aid kit: Stock a well-equipped first aid kit with essential supplies.
- Fire extinguishers: Maintain the correct number of fire extinguishers and ensure they are in good working condition.
1.5 Communication Devices:
- VHF radio: Invest in a marine VHF radio to communicate with other boaters and emergency services.
- Whistle or horn: Keep a sound-producing device to signal for help in case of an emergency.
2. Safety Equipment:
In addition to items mentioned in the boat safety checklist, several safety equipment should be on board:
2.1 Anchoring Equipment:
- Anchor: Carry a suitable anchor and sufficient anchor line to secure the boat in case of engine failure or emergency situations.
- Anchor buoy: Attach an anchor buoy to mark the anchor's location, providing a clear indication of where the boat is secured.
2.2 Visual Distress Signals:
- Carry approved visual distress signals, such as flares or signal flags, to attract attention in case of emergencies.
2.3 Bilge Pump:
- Ensure that a reliable bilge pump is on board to remove excess water from the boat.
2.4 Navigational Lights:
- Install and maintain proper navigation lights to ensure visibility and prevent collisions, especially during low-light conditions.
Boats Marine Supply play a vital role in the boating and maritime industry, serving as a one-stop shop for all the needs of boat owners and marine enthusiasts. These stores specialize in providing a wide range of products and services essential for smooth sailing, maintenance, and safety on the water.
The primary aim of a marine supply store is to ensure that boat owners have access to high-quality equipment, tools, and accessories. Whether you are a recreational boater, a professional fisherman, or a commercial mariner, these stores cater to all your specific requirements. They typically stock an extensive inventory comprising marine electronics, navigation instruments, safety gear, fishing equipment, boat maintenance supplies, water sports gear, and much more.
Marine supply stores are known for carrying products from renowned brands and manufacturers in the industry. This ensures that their customers can rely on the durability and functionality of the items they purchase. From state-of-the-art radar systems to life jackets and from marine paints to fishing reels, these stores have everything needed to enhance the boating experience.
One of the significant advantages of shopping at a marine supply store is the expert advice and guidance that customers receive. Employees in these stores are often experienced boaters themselves and possess extensive knowledge about various products and their applications. They can provide valuable insights, recommend suitable products based on individual needs, and offer troubleshooting assistance when required.
Additionally, marine supply stores often provide essential services like boat repairs, installations, and maintenance. Whether it's installing a GPS system, fixing electrical issues, or conducting routine maintenance checks, they have skilled technicians to ensure that boats are in prime condition for use on the water. Many stores even offer rental services for equipment like kayaks, paddleboards, and water sports gear, allowing customers to explore new activities without the need for purchasing.
With the rise of e-commerce, marine supply stores have also expanded their reach through online platforms. This allows boat owners to conveniently browse and purchase products from the comfort of their homes. Online marine supply stores often provide detailed product descriptions, customer reviews, and secure payment options, making the buying process efficient and reliable.
In conclusion, marine supply stores are essential for boat owners and enthusiasts alike. They offer a wide range of products, expert advice, and essential services to ensure the safety, functionality, and enjoyment of boating experiences. Whether shopping in-store or online, these stores facilitate the smooth operation of vessels, making them a crucial pillar of the marine industry.

The Boat Chronicles Pt. 3
Spring 2018
Almost all of my actual sailing experience is in the Chesapeake Bay. The vessel is a mid-80’s Starwind 27, and she is the first and only boat that is basically fully functional the whole time we have her. Her name is Lickity Split, in blatant disregard for the fact that she is not, in fact, a fast boat, or maybe she could have been fast, had her keel not basically become a traveling oyster bed; who knows. (Me, actually, I know. Sailboats work better when you take the oysters off the bottom.) Anyway, she is great fun regardless of her speed or lack thereof, and the time we spend exploring and anchoring out that spring is some of the absolute best time of my life.
It’s easy to put hard times into words, but how do you describe the way the sun hits the water on a perfect, cloudless day? The sound of the wind filling your sails? The way the spray feels on your face? The way your chest swells up with perfect happiness during those moments is enough to make every other thing you’ve ever felt worth it. Words will never be enough, and it will never not be worth it.
The first time we raise her sails, I am overcome with a feeling of success. After four years, two failed boat projects, two failed attempts at #vanlife, and two more babies added to the mix, the joy of actually being out there, of doing the thing, is almost overwhelming. It is not a perfect sail, we try to pick a day without much swell for our first trip out of the marina, but by the time we near our destination in Mobjack Bay, the Chesapeake is serving up her classic choppy bullshit, and I am becoming seasick. Then comes navigating the minefield of crab pots at the mouth of the river, and anchoring in close quarters for the first time, but we manage it all and celebrate with probably canned clam chowder. I don’t actually remember what we ate, but probably that. It is a beautiful and moody evening, humid but not too hot, no bugs yet so early in the season; I think I could do this forever.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Earlier in Spring 2018
Before we begin sailing Lickity Split for real, we take her out to anchor for a couple of nights as a trial run. We chose a spot just up the James River, not far from our staging point in Portsmouth, and drop anchor as the sun is setting. My heart could absolutely break free from my chest and join the clouds and the seagulls in the sky, it is all so perfect. I stand on the deck and hang onto the backstay with one hand, kinda lean out, feel my boat move beneath me with my shifting weight; I trust her completely.
As I lay in the v-berth that evening, cuddling the big girls (geeze, how did I think 2 and 6 were “big girls” back then?) before bed, the wind begins to pick up. And then it continues to pick up. I do not yet have enough experience with the Chesapeake to know about the thunderstorms, about how they just fucking happen like that, boom. The boat begins to spin, faster and faster, and the wind, stronger and stronger. I crawl out of the v-berth, trade places with their Dad, since for some reason he is not about to vomit, and flail around simultaneously for the handheld GPS which will tell me if our anchor is dragging (it does not, miraculously, that whole night), and a sauce pan in which to empty my stomach.
So there I am, hurling violently into cookware, while not only checking but comprehending our coordinates. I actually do take the time in that moment to recognize that I am a badass. Baby Natalie sleeps through all of this.
The storm passes, but the choppy waves do not, and by morning I am so nauseous I actually can’t feel my lips or fingers anymore. I am not sure if this happens to anyone else when they get seasick; I guess I hope it doesn’t. It’s a warm and sunny spring day, and sitting in the cockpit is the only activity that allows me to feel normal-ish, so that’s all I do. I just sit, and watch, and be, and if that isn’t what it’s all about I don’t know what is. I think I could do this forever.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Mid-Autumn 2019
I didn’t know I could feel this way about a boat. I had no idea what it would be like to step inside one of those big sailboats I thought I’d never have, and know that she is mine. She is ours.
She needs a hell of a lot of work.
The kids will spend the next three years reminding us about the leaves all over the floor when we first bought her. Like that was the biggest issue, and not how they got there in the first place (turns out, when you leave all the port-lights open for who knows how long, it’s kinda gross?). It is such a great feeling though, cleaning her up, picturing the future sailing around the world on a boat that can actually feasibly carry a family of 6 that far. She is One Love all over again, at least for me, at least at first. I love that boat so fucking much.
Newly pregnant with my fourth, and last, baby, I lay in the v-berth with the hatch wide open, a crisp, warm autumn breeze blows across my face, and I can see the mast, so very much taller than I am used to, and the rigging sways in the wind, and the gentle pull against the dock lines as she sways reverberates through my body like the promise of stories yet untold. She has energy, she desperately wants to be set free, and I swear I will be the one to free her and show her the world. We’ll show each other the world.
Letting go of that promise is a heartbreak for which I am utterly unprepared. I will love her forever.

It wasnt clear we could make it to the end Super proud Wolff on how close Russell came to losing Sao Paulo win
Toto Wolff has praised his Mercedes team for “never stopping believing” in their bid to recover from a challenging start to the 2022 season and return to winning ways – which they achieved in style with a one-two finish at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix. Having fallen behind Red Bull and Ferrari in the pecking order with an initially troubled W13 designed for F1’s all-new technical regulations, Mercedes spent much of the campaign trying to get on top of severe porpoising and unlock performance. After steady progress, and a host of podium finishes, the victory breakthrough finally came at Interlagos as George Russell led home team mate Lewis Hamilton in a performance that left Mercedes boss Wolff full of gratitude. READ MORE: Russell takes maiden victory as Hamilton backs up Mercedes 1-2 in Sao Paulo “It shows the development capability of the team, and that makes me super proud, because we had situations where we felt that we understood [things]. There were setbacks, and obviously weekends that were tremendously difficult, like Spa [where Mercedes qualified some two seconds off the pace],” Wolff reflected. 2022 Sao Paulo Grand Prix: Russell crosses the line to seal maiden F1 win – and Mercedes’ first victory of the year “The team never stopped believing that we were on the right trajectory, whilst acknowledging that we didn’t always understand everything, and it shows the mindset and the values of the team.” Back at Mercedes’ Brackley base for the event, Wolff added: “In a way, I feel so proud for what we have achieved. I feel even more proud not having been there, because I feel proud for the organisation that we have built with so many people that keep it up and made us win.” While Mercedes asserted their authority over Red Bull and Ferrari across the Sao Paulo GP weekend, it was not all plain sailing for the Silver Arrows, with Wolff revealing that a water leak almost cost Russell his maiden F1 win. READ MORE: Russell left ‘speechless’ by breakthrough F1 win after ‘emotional rollercoaster’ for Mercedes in 2022 It would have added to the heartache Russell suffered during his substitute performance for Mercedes in place of the unwell Hamilton at the 2020 Sakhir Grand Prix, a race he led for the most part until a pit-stop mix-up. Emotions took over for Russell as he bagged his maiden F1 win, and Mercedes’ first of the season Asked about Russell’s triumph, and his missed chance two years ago, Wolff said: “I don’t know if it’s redemption, but I think he deserved to win in Bahrain and we let him down with the car, and that’s why today was... this victory makes us happy, because he could’ve had one on the clock two years ago and he didn’t. Now he has the first victory. “As a side [note], we had a water leak on the car throughout the race, and it wasn’t clear whether we could actually make it to the end. We talked about it on the intercom, and we all agreed we are going to let him drive to the end even without water. This [relied] on whatever was there to cool it and try to finish the race.” READ MORE: ‘We are still the best team’ says defiant Hamilton after Mercedes claim stunning Sao Paulo 1-2 With their one-two result, Mercedes are now just 19 points behind Ferrari in the race for P2 in the constructors’ standings, with 44 up for grabs at this weekend’s season finale in Abu Dhabi. via Formula 1 News https://www.formula1.com

I like P/C and I also like Konner's account of their rise LOL. The power vacuum in Ice Dance after 2014 is a good point, there was a massive one and I think it's not P/C's fault that stars aligned for them and they took the opportunity. I do agree that they are complacent which makes them ill-prepared for V/M comeback. It's also notable that 2 of their WC titles came in seasons where they compete part time (2016, 2019). They were not around as much as I thought they were for a dominant team.
I don’t think anyone necessarily blames P/C for their rise. I think for the most part skating fans try not to blame skaters for their federation/coaches politicking and judges doing a sh*tty job judging them. Everything @macaroni-rascal wrote was so on point and she truly managed to analyze the situation accurately (and as unbiased as possible), between Didier’s insanely strong push for them after P/B missed the Sochi podium to Gadbois giving them a glamover to the massive void TS and D/W left behind them to the rest of the teams being so vanilla that the judges just couldn't get behind any of them (which is very apparent when you see how teams like WeaPo and Chock/Bates started the 2015-2018 quad and how they finished it). Then came P/C with a shiny new packaging and skating style that for the time seemed innovative and the rest is history.
And as you correctly said, P/C’s easy ride to the top is ironically what mostly cost them the Olympic title everyone thought was theirs until TS made their comeback, they were just completely unprepared to face real strong competition and it completely threw them off. Their Worlds wins were as easy as they come, they won 2015 Worlds by 3 points (but won the FD by 6), they won 2016 worlds by 6 points and basically sailed their way through titles, then TS came back and they lost to them by 9 points in their first face-off...
For me, the biggest issue is the way P/C rose between 2014 and 2015. I wrote about it before, but the fact that their score went up by more than 43 (!!!!) points between 2014 Worlds and 2015 Worlds is something that there’s no real way to explain. Even if we ignore everything else, to suggest that they improved in a way that can somehow explain this score gap is laughable imo and it becomes even more so when you look at their PCS - going from 27.33 to 36.66 in the SD and from 41.31 to 56.70 in the FD is just unthinkable.
I still remember in PyeongChang how P/C stans talked about TS FD score improving by 3 points between the team event and the individual event and how it doesn't make sense. This goes to show exactly how little people looked at the score since in those 3 points - 1.5 points came from getting level 4 and not 3 on a step sequence (remember those e good old days when levels actually mattered? The nostalgia...) and the rest in GOE and PCS. And this was somehow “weird” while a 24.72 points increase in PCS alone within a year (which means 2 GP events, GPF, and Euros) is logical... This is what ice dance is all about.

simmer - get to know
by @cupcakegnome
i was tagged by the amazing @whyhellosims and couldn’t pass up on this awesome opportunity to allow yall to get to know me a bit better! 💖
your name: I went on discord a few years ago for some sims help and just named my account Figaro after my favorite horse without really thinking about it... then I actually got hooked on discord and my friends started calling me Fig, so... fig it is! here’s the real fig, though, for those who are interested:
hes more amazing than i could ever dream to be.
languages you speak: dutch, english, german (i'm gonna go as far as to say dutch and german are mutually intelligible, and tho this gives a bit less of an incentive to actually learn german when germans will understand ur dutch just fine, it also makes learning german significantly easier). I tried to learn greek but even after years and years i just couldnt get past the alphabet LOL. the only greek I know are the bits and pieces I learned from my time spent there, but id have 0 idea how to actually spell that stuff out.
are you a mermaid: if only!! i do feel a very strong connection to water, though—my dad built his own sailing boat and traveled the world with it, and during his travels me and my sis been visiting a lot, living on his boat with him while we did
your play style: so, so story-driven... even when I tell myself I just wanna play the game without a story for once I end up with one by the end of my play session anyway.
your selfsim picture:
stories or gameplay, builds, lookbooks, edits or cc: I do stories most of all, but also like regular gameplay, my stories will for a very large part be game-driven, and from time to time ill post some builds. ive done a lookbook too. basically the only thing that wont have too much of a focus on my blog, despite my using it, is cc
your favorite age state: YA
your favorite season: winter
your favorite holiday: talk like a pirate day!
how was your day: actually absolutely terrible LOL. hungover, lost my temper on both a customer as well as a coworker... at least i got through it. 😂
your favorite career: admittedly, I rarely actually play careers cause my sims are way too busy or too dumb to actually be able to go there. if I had to choose any, though... I might actually go with the military
your favorite aspiration: the one that the most of my sims have completed is Friend of the World, cause I like for my sims to be sociable so it doesnt take too much effort to complete it anyway, and the reward of relationships never decaying is great
your favorite EP, SP or GP: vampires will always hold a special place in my heart, but I also absolutely love strangerville! if I had to choose any one favorite, id go with that one.
how old is your simblr: I posted some stuff in march last year but havent been active since, like, november? december? something like that
have you woohooed: yes
your favorite skill: charisma, cause theyll develop it automatically as I play
the size of your mods folder: 2.77 GB
your 3 favorite mods: mc command center, npc control, and personality please (links) are the three mods i absolutely couldn’t play without
your interests (other than sims): writing, dancing, creating (i love things like character creation), horse riding & anything involving animals, really.
your favorite sim (picture if possible): this is actually incredibly difficult for me cause im not sure i have 1 favorite. a lot of sims of mine will always hold a special place in my heart. my favorite sim to play fluctuates a lot... but god, if i had to choose any favorite sim whom i really completely made through sims and who was not a non-sims character already precious to me turned into a sims character.... itd probably be tika. hes an asshole but man, do i just love him and especially his story.
which Sims games you have played (including mobile games): the sims 1, 2 and 4
propose a crazy scheme: the sims community actually coming up with some GOOD sims 4 qualities for once
best part of simblr: the amazing people I got to meet on here!
worst part of simblr: hmm... though i feel its much much less toxic than places like youtube or even the official forums, there is still some negativity here sometimes
what other games you play: im kind of a noob with other games, honestly. I used to play a whooole bunch of horse-related games (am a total horse girl), and I played the battle for middle earth (also looove me some LOTR). used to go to my childhood best friend's house to steal her brother's xbox and play gta iv on it, and I bought gta v for myself but sadly, I suck too bad at games to actually progress any with it
other websites or accounts (origin, twitter etc..): im on wordpress (here). i also mod a sims-based, lgbtq+ discord server called simsclub
are you single: very happily so, yes.
im tagging @wesunnysimmer, @nyteroseshadowthorn, @amuhav, @chaosxsims, @silverspringsimmer, @polishsimmersblog and well, uh... basically anyone that wants to do this! feel absolutely free to ignore this if you dont want to.
