I actually don't hear people talking about this a lot, but I'm pretty sure Nya technically didn't age between Seabound and Crystalized.
Meaning that while everyone aged a year, she was the same age she was when she merged with the Sea.
Imagine the angst potential if Nya wasn't able to remember and/or the ninja weren't able to get her back to her normal form only a year after her sacrifice. Just imagine.
#this also kind of ties to my post where i said it's probably better that nyad stayed the sea because everyone she knows is#probably dead now#ninjago#ninjago nya#ns14#ninjago seabound#ns15#ninjago crystalized

✨Small Canon Things in Ninjago That Aren’t Necessarily Important to the Plot, but Important to Me Pt 2✨
(in honor of the first post reaching 2.5k notes)
1. the reason the ninja can’t summon their elemental dragons anymore is bc they’re too traumatized
2. Kai takes laxatives
3. Lloyd felt responsible for Nya’s sacrifice
4. Morro took a shot while he was in Lloyd’s body
5. Cole’s favorite color is orange
6. Chamille, the master of form, is a “bad girl” post s4
7. the ninja were literal children when they waltzed into Chen’s tournament and proceeded to beat all the adult EMs in the competition
8. prior to seabound, Nya resented her parents for not being there in her childhood, her mother more so than her father (✨mommy issues✨)
9. Nya is hyper-independent as a result of her childhood; while Kai is more openly accepting to his parents because he has a better memory of them
10. Wu was close enough with Lilly that he could remember whether or not she wore a necklace
11. Cliff Gordon was a “womanizer”
12. Lloyd didn’t naturally hit puberty until s8
13. Cole and Jay are best friends
14. whether or not you see Pixane as a bf/gf situation in canon, they are canonically soulmates
15. Jay has not yet received his inheritance letter
16. at least up until the Merge, Zane’s statue is still in downtown Ninjago City
17. ninjago citizens are fully aware their only protection are six super-powered teens/young adults
18. the ninja are still famous, public figures
19. Jay is the only ninja who hasn’t died (yet)
20. despite being a terrible actor, Lloyd is always sent on the undercover missions
21. the ninja are on first name basis with each others parents
22. Cole’s favorite genre of music is soft rock
23. Zane has selective memory
24. after Nya’s sacrifice, each ninja depicted a different stage of grief (Zane-Denial, Kai-Anger, Lloyd-Depression, Jay-Bargaining, and Cole-Acceptance)
25. Cole never actually had feelings for Nya, he was just flattered by the attention and petty about Jay being mad at him
26. elements react based on the master’s emotions
27. Jay is so emotionally dependent on being around other people that he loses his mind when he’s alone for too long
28. Lloyd had a chat with god and wasn’t impressed
29. Cole’s snoring can be heard throughout the monastery
30. Nya is not a morning person
31. Kai and Skylor have been in a situationship since s4
32. Lloyd being the grandson of god is not common knowledge
33. the group of civilians that were on the bounty when Cole fell are probably the only ones who truly realize the danger the ninja put themselves in on the regular to protect the city, and how close they are with each other
34. Wu didn’t want to tell the ninja about the green ninja prophecy because he was afraid of having a repeat of Morro
35. since s8 at the very least, the ninja all shared a room on the bounty until the monastery was rebuilt
36. Jay’s confidence in his own abilities fully depends on what others believe he’s capable of
37. several villains have called the ninja out on being “just a bunch of kids,” and then proceeded to get their shit rocked by said kids
38. the overlord can gloat to Lloyd all he wants to in crystallized, but fact of the matter is Lloyd defeated him when he was like twelve
39. Kai and Nya raised and took care of each other, it wasn’t just Kai doing all of the work
40. Kai is two years older than Nya
41. Zane’s biggest fear is losing his humanity
42. Lloyd’s biggest fear is becoming his father
43. Nya’s biggest fear is losing her individuality
44. Cole’s biggest fear is letting his family down
45. we the audience are the only ones who see the characters as legos; they’re real people in-universe
46. Kai likes spicy food
47. while elemental masters are immune to their elements to some extent, their elements can also be shown to hurt them in some circumstances
and as always, feel free to add on!!

Finally managed to redo all of my ninja body headcanon refs yippee! I’m especially happy because I redid their proportions and anatomy to be more accurate to how I envision them. I certainly think they all look better for it.
A metric ton of notes + Several extra characters beneath the cut! Also spoilers for Dragons Rising S2 and leaks for S3.
Jay — has the face of a movie star with a narrow jawline and thick, curly hair to go with it. Short, boxy-looking, muscular shoulders. He’s strong enough to lift heavy materials and work with stubborn mechanical pieces, but is otherwise pretty lean. Lots of freckles and lightning-like scars all over his body. The smaller ones fade with time and return when he uses his powers. (Later in DR, I headcanon that Jay figures out she’s transfem. However for this ref I’m using pre-realization Jay.)
Nya — Square face and strong features, death glare that could kill a man. Very muscular, especially around her biceps and thighs. Lots of scars and moles. Leftover markings from her time spent as the ocean (she also has sharpened teeth from the incident, like dragon fangs.) Dragon tattoo on her left arm. (Not pictured: small phoenix tattoo on her back.) Wavy hair that resembles ocean waves.
Kai — Resembles his father quite a bit, has similar sharp features. Very handsome. Hairy, jacked, very strong arms, biceps, and shoulders. Scarred hands from wielding his own fire recklessly when he was younger. Same dragon tattoo as Nya on his left arm (he got it to commemorate her sacrifice in Seabound.) Scar over right eye that he got while fighting a Serpentine. Hair that resembles flames. Top surgery scars bc he is transmasc to me.
Lloyd — Classic hero look. Soft-featured and seems very approachable, often makes his enemies think he’s incapable of great anger bc of it. Tall, stocky, jock-like build, broad shoulders and waist. Outgrew half of his team by S8 (they are still upset about this lol). Several scars and stretch marks from how quickly he’s grown over the years but the most prominent are the claw marks on his shoulder from fighting his dad. Mole on his chin bc I like projecting my physical features onto my fave characters. Originally his ears were round like the rest of his teammates but became pointed after the Oni trilogy, he used to be severely self conscious about them but later grew to appreciate them. Top surgery scars bc he is also transmasc to me.
Cole — Had an emo phase in classic-era S1/2, was also pretty slender but later put on a lot of weight. Probably the most relaxed and emotionally in touch than all the rest of his teammates and it shows in his expression and posture. Large build with lots of functional muscle- big arms, big chest, big hands and feet, you get the picture. Very hairy. Scars on his hands and arms and side of his head from his powers and time spent as a ghost. Also has some moles. Has grown his hair out very steadily over the course of his life. Top surgery scars bc he is also, also transmasc to me.
Zane — Originally, Dr. Julien built him pretty short but after S3 Pixal rebuilt him to be taller. Slender build with a strong, flexible core. Broad, sturdy shoulders. Dr. Julien designed him to be light and fast to contrast the Juggernaut, which is slow and tanky. Has similar patterns on his shoulders that Pixal has all over her body, except the dots have been replaced with snowflakes. Very human-looking. Dark eyes. Heart/core is comprised of chronosteel as given to him by the previous Master of Ice.
Pixal — The shortest. Petite. Has a very sweet and gently-looking countenance since her original purpose was to assist. Has an alternative Battle Mode body that is bigger than even Zane. She re-made the Samurai X persona to seem big, quiet, and terrifying to fight. Visible circuitry since she is overflowing with every mechanism thought possible to make her as fully functional as a human being.
Sora — average height with a rectangular build, strong arms because she’s an inventor and mechanic. Using scrapped Imperium tech, she customized the markings on her body to look like whiskers and cat stripes. She used to dye her hair pink but once she grew into her powers it became naturally pink. Two different prosthetic arms, one for practical purposes and another that looks like a cat paw for fun.
Arin — starts out pretty short but grows a lot over the course of his time training to be a ninja. It’s not pictured, but he has a growth spurt post S2 that puts him at a similar height to Lloyd (5’8”). Puts on some functional muscle as he trains. Has a few scars but the two most prominent ones are on his shoulder (from helping Sora with a project, and the other on his clavicle from getting thrown around by Ras in DR S2).
Wyldfyre — short, short gremlin. Sunken facial features. Stocky and top heavy, muscular arms and legs. Despite her height, she could suplex half the cast effortlessly. Very tanned from being out in the sun and heat her entire life. I gave her lots of freckles because I am correct. Hair is still somewhat untamable even after S2P1.
Frak — seems tall, is actually pretty small for a Serpentine. Wiry and flexible, lots of sharp edges that he’s generally very aware and particular about. Tough skin/scales, wears armor to protect his torso. Mixed Venomari and Constrictai. Receives one of Lloyd’s old gi after joining the ninja.
Euphrasia — yes, I know she’s not apart of the cast of new ninja but I wanted to make a reference for her anyway. Tiny and wispy, like a wind sprite. Unassuming and innocent-looking. Used to have shrimp-posture from how anxious and insecure she was about herself but has started to straighten out as she’s grown into her powers. Some freckles :)

Misako — very short but still fit as a fiddle. More the capable of defending herself and doing heavy manual labor, even though she doesn’t really look like it. Had a very stressful life and as a result started getting gray hair early in her years. She doesn’t mind as much now that she’s gotten so old. Has stretch marks and a slight tummy after giving birth to Lloyd.
Wu — can shapeshift to any height, chooses to look short and wide, ultimate sleeper build (this man is muscled as hell). Like Lloyd, he has a classic hero look and also seems approachable and gentle. Post Oni trilogy he keeps his ears pointed to comfort and support Lloyd with his own low self-esteem. In the early seasons, he used to be very slim and almost frail-seeming, but in S9 he grew to add on a lot of weight from subconsciously modeling himself after Cole. Has arthritis and chronic pain.
Garmadon — can also shapeshift to any height but got into a particularly petty and pointless fight with Lloyd about it one day. He chooses to be around the same height as Lloyd bc of it. Both he and Wu have dragon-like tails but prefer to keep them hidden, tho post-Crystallized Garmadon starts to wear his out more frequently. In S1/2 he was remarkably muscled and well-built, S3/4 he became incredibly focused on slimming down to fit the ninja master image, in the Oni trilogy he was reborn as being remarkably powerful and muscled again (to fit Harumi’s subconscious projection of what she thought he would look like.) By Crystallized, he’d let go of many of his responsibilities and reservations and gained a lot of weight. Still muscled, tho not as big as Wu. Has chronic pain due to so many physical transformations and a 1000+ years of service to Ninjago.
Morro — *transfems your ghost* Yeah… anyway, short and bony, strong enough to handle herself tho. Leftover scars after she dissolved into the ocean, occasionally they become translucent and show off her skeleton when she experiences powerful emotions. No longer a wind master but does now have ghost-like abilities.
Echo/Mr.E — essentially looks like a smaller, shorter, and more youthful version of Zane. Used to be very rusted and was always falling apart before Harumi helped rebuild him. Red and black color scheme to contrast Zane’s blue and white one. Has a crack over his left eyebrow after he got crushed by a billboard in Crystallized.
Harumi — Remarkably beautiful by most social beauty standards, deceptively petite. Is actually muscled beneath whatever layers she wears. In DR, she lets go a lot of her old feelings and resentments and begins healing. Cuts her hair and starts wearing warmer colors, tho she still prefers her heavy makeup and jewelry from her biker phase. Both she and Echo have a sort of crystal-like surface to their body after taking on the power of the Crystal King. Always carries a tool belt to help with repairs and odd jobs around the Crossroads.

Akita — tall by Ninjago standards, short by Formling standards. Spent a lot of her formative years struggling after her people were froze in ice, but has been healing post S-11 after being reunited with her brother and people. Her wolf form is much bigger than a regular wolf, making it easier for her to scare off packs of wild animals and tote objects or people around the Never Realm.
Pixal’s battle form in comparison to her usual form and Zane.

Bechdel Testing Ninjago
So, a little while ago I did the Bechdel test on Ninjago because I've always seen the show as sort of an interesting case study in how women are portrayed in cartoons. Of course, I'm aware the Bechdel test originated as a joke and something passing the Bechdel test doesn't make it feminist/not. Rather, or for me at least, it's an indication of how deficient female representation can be at an aggregate scale. As a way to analyze Ninjago, I feel it works as it shows how female representation over the course of the show. If you're interested I'll now discuss my thoughts on how the analysis went season by season. DISCLAIMER: I did this for fun.

The pilot was easy. Nya's the only one, so test failed across the board. The first episode that passed the test was when Jay's parents came to visit. Yay Edna! Mystake does show up in episode 7 but, I don't count it as she has not yet been named. 12&13 had a kid's mom in a bus which I decided was enough cus hey, Mom's a name she uses.

Here's where we really get going. Patty Keys, their real estate agent continues to show up through seabound as a background character, which is pretty cool imo. Episode 5, Mystake finally gets named. Episode 6 was huge for my chart as it's the introduction of Misako. You'd think episode 7 is when her and Nya talked but that's actually when Nya and Gayle had a lil convo. From then on I spent the episodes just staring at the Nya and Misako thinking "talk to her talk to her talk to her." Fortunately, when they did speak, Nya and Misako would be discuss like science, maps, and fate of the world so I never ran into a problem with rule 3. That is, until Rebooted.

The good news is Pixal's here so it'll be years before we fail rule 1 again. The bad news is we've got a love triangle so goodbye rule 3. Nya actually talked to her student, Sally, and Pixal quite often but it was so often about Jay or Cole so I would just be scouring the episode for a single exchange where they talked about anything else. During the Tournament, Nya, Pixal, Skylor, and Misako were all in different groupings and it was rare that Tox or Camille would say something so no rule 2/3 successes until late season.

The good news is, the love triangle is over so we're back to rule 2 usually meaning rule 3. The bad news is, Pixal's in Zane's head so we're back to hoping Misako and Nya say something to eachother. Nya usually shared her scenes with Wu, Ronin, and Jay during these seasons so chances were few and far between. However, unlike the first few seasons where the default was male, we're now getting some female henchmen (Bansha and Dogshank) so that made things easier.

Thank you for being in Day of the Departed Edna Walker. Early Hands of Time was tough because Nya, Misako, and Commander Macchia were rarely in the same scenes. In the latter half of the season though, we thankfully see the return of Pixal. Maya also helped us with some wins.

What a breath of fresh air. Thanks to Harumi & Ultraviolet's introduction, Pixal's return, Mystake's upgrade to a reoccuring character, and Nya & Misako's continued support, failing even rule 3 is pretty rare during the Oni Trilogy. We run into some complications during Hunted because though we have Skylor and the aforementioned characters in Ninjago and Faith & Jet Jack in the First Realm, sometimes people don't talk to eachother. And that's ok. Overall, smooth sailing.
Ah??!? What happened. Worry not. I realized this was, in part, because the Oni Trilogy had 20 minutes worth of chances for women to speak to eachother, these were only 10 minute episodes. So, for the sake of comparable units of analysis, I considered each pair of episodes to be 1 episode. I'll show both charts until DR.
It looks a little better, but it's still not at Oni Trilogy levels. Still, I'd be curious to see what the test would look like if I dissected the earlier episodes into 10 minute chunks because it's probably not a great sign if 10 v 20 minutes makes such a big difference. Ok, proceeding. The Fire Chapter was usually pretty successful because Pixal, Aspheera, or Nya would usually end up talking at one point or another. Gayle even helped at one point. The Ice chapter usually achieved successes through Nya talking to Sorla. In one episode, I counted the Preminent's roars as conversation with Pixal. The Ice Chapter had quite a few failures largely because, as in previous seasons, all the women were split up.
Despite the fact that Nya was one of the longest lived ninja, Prime Empire has total failures at levels not seen since before season 2. This is largely because for the most part, Pixal and Nya are never in the same episode. Racer 7 helps but she was only there for a bit. I should point out that I feel like the 10 minute era is really when Pixal starts feeling like part of the team to me. She's always part of homebase meetings and always plays a key part in missions. Alas, if she's not in episodes with Nya, that's not going to show up on my chart. It's a reminder of the fact this test doesn't show substance.
Master of the Mountain is similar to the other seasons of its era. The fact the 10 minute era tended to show its plots episode by episode (ex: Ep 3 = Plot A, Ep 4 = Plot B, Ep 5 = Plot C) rather than all in one really takes a toll on the test. For the most part, Nya and Vania were our only chances for success and it was rare they'd share an episode. We also had the rare rule 3 failure with the Queen of the Munce episode. Thanks Jay. The Island only had Nya until they found Misako, so it was struggling even more.
It feels right to see all green when it's a Nya season. In the beginning of Seabound, they put Nya, Pixal, and Maya on a boat together and by jove it made things easy. Late season was a bit trickier because Nya was on her own journey. Crystalized had Skylor, Pixal and some ressurected villains saving the day. Late Crystalized is the way it is because it had so, so many different groupings. I have a chart based on groupings and this season was such a challenge.
I really felt the difference with Dragons Rising. I mean, you can see the difference, but it was even more clear when doing my data collection because it was just so easy. Rather than grabbing at scraps of dialogue like I had to do in early seasons, there was often a wealth of more meaningful conversation between female characters to choose from. As with the Oni Trilogy, a female villain with a female henchman makes things easy because they scheme together. We also had Nya and Sora on a joint quest. Funnily enough, there is a rare rule 3 failure because Sora and Kreel only talked about Kreel's friend in one episode. Episode 17 had the classic split up issue and actually would've failed entirely if not for Agent Underwood, which is actually a great example of my next point. You can really tell how male is no longer the default because not only is there the introduction of all the fantastic new female main characters, but also there's plenty of random female characters scattered throughout. I haven't seen DRS2P2 yet but I expect it'll be more of the same. I should mention I also made a chart with the reverse (two named men in an episode who talk about eachother about something besides a woman). Only three episodes fail in any capacity. (Say thank you to the Akita, Pixal, and Harumi solo episodes). If you read this whole thing, thank you. I had a lot of fun doing it. Let me know if there's any other charts I can do!

How would events of later seasons(if they happen) affect Kotori? Especially stuff like aftermath of Seabound since that'd be the first 'death' with a lasting consequence she'd witness? Zane probably wouldn't turn off his emotions since he has a daughter to take care of
Kotori turns off her emotions too lol
Oops! Zane, you accidentally taught your daughter harmful coping mechanisms!!
Zane does still turn off his emotions because hes like "I cant break down and leave Kotori all alone." and Kotori like ahh so this is how we deal with things. Yes Chef 🫡 and the worst part is because Zanes emotions are turned off he's not picking up oin the fact that Kotori is NOT dealing with death well at all. Cole has to step in an sit him down like "Hey, i know youre trying your best to not give in to grief, but youre showing Kotori the best way to deal with things is Not At All, and thats not healthy." and Zane has a hard time grappling with that because his emotions run so so wide and so deep that turning them on again would gut him- but cole is right, isn'e he? Kotori is acting out and school and arguing with him and refusing to look at any opictures of Nya around the house. She's not dealing with this well. and he's the one setting the example.
So Zane talks to a few different people for advice and ends up taking Kotori with him to grief therapy and, at the suggestion of the therapist, setting her up in group therapy with kids her age who have also experienced loss for the first time. i think this is one of the first places Kotori doesn't feel like such an outsider- technically shes 54, so she has a lot more life experience than other kids her age except when it comes to loss of a loved one. Its an even playing field that helps her open up and even make some strong friendships
Kotoris inclusion in Zanes life really helps him to make better choices for himself because now he has a child who looks up to him for guidance.

question about Cole in all of your au's <33 but what flower and / or animal do you associate with them ??
also another question, specifically for your villians!au : what are Ray and Maya's reactions to Kai's cult and Nya's departure ?? how do they cope with the loss of both of their kids ?
/nf
Okay I’m so sorry you sent a similar ask ages ago and I’ve been avoiding answering because I’m ngl. I DONT REMEMBER HOW HANDS OF TIME WENT 😭 I’m just going to answer now so if anything sounds wrong or I change anything in the future well you know why lmao.
For the first part of your question, I associate different versions of cole with different animals/flowers.
Reaper I associate with deers and lambs, and datura flowers, white lilies and magnolias, and spider lilies. Lilou is a bunny, in my heart, and if I had to pick a flower for him it’d probably be black bearded irises or those cool black bat flowers.
Here’s your other ask so I can answer some of the specific questions in there too.

The thing is I’m not entirely sure how hands of time played out with Kai, because he wasn’t there. The last time he was really involved in any season-canon was s5. So a lot has to change about HOT, though I still do think Maya and Ray were saved. So off the bat the only thing they get to see of Kai is the mess he became, and what the remaining ninja have to say about him, which! Is not good! I think they were worried at the start, wanted to find him yk? Talk to him, maybe Ray did but if he did it didn’t go well. Kai hates them, and Ray especially and Ray cannot stand what he’s becoming. Nya’s incredibly distant, an extra layer of resentment and abandonment issues there. I think a part of Ray specifically is almost ashamed, in a way that seems that he’s ashamed of Kai but in actuality he’s ashamed of himself for not staying, for not being able to and being able to raise his son better. That feeling only grows as Kai’s cult does, and by the time it starts to get going he’s old and the world is beginning to fall apart and his daughter is gone. I think Maya felt just such a wave of grief over everything, and especially Nya because she was so involved when she became the sea. Seabound in general was i worse, because no-one had any air of knowing what they had to do, or acceptance. Ray felt so far away, Maya couldn’t connect, couldn’t help, and Nya felt a such a bitterness and resignation in her stomach. Some of the canon character die in pretty awful ways (borg, karloff, skylor, etc) but I think the worst way for these two to go is old age, dying in their failure and grief. They feel as if they failed their children horribly, and they never get to fix that! Just the way the cookie crumbles I guess.

I love the RGB siblings especially in Dragons Rising.
Kai and Lloyd’s hug at the beginning of dr is so cute. And them reuniting after the merge. Nya helping Lloyd with his panic attacks and nightmares in dr 2. They better get a sibling hug after Kai comes back.
Also (Kinda RGB siblings related) in seabound Nya says that Kai liked being treated like a child. Probably he didn’t get be a child. First he had to raise Nya, Lloyd, then Wyldfire. When is he gonna get a break.

Alright imma throw my hat in the ring because I thought about it.
Ray and Maya having visible cheekbones in the war flashbacks and Hands of Times makes sense in the fact that they probably weren't EATING well. Like, why would Acronix give them enough to allow themselves to fight? Did they even have many chances to eat during the Serpentine Wars?
Honestly, its also probably why Maya became a health nut in Seabound- as I brought it up with a friend. She probably never had the opportunity to care for her own personal nutrition and would fall into the thought process of better and longer. (This last paragraph was what my friend suggested/said)

Ninjago Headcanons 13-16
#13:
“Elemental Master” is actually just the formal version of it. It’s really just “Elemental”.
So like, (going randomly) “Elemental Master of Ice”, is how they say it when they have to be formal. But otherwise, it’s just “Elemental of Ice”.
Every single Elemental in existence hates, just hates the formal version since it makes it sound like their power can be learned by literally anyone instead of inherited or chosen-by-previous-Elemental-of-(blank).
(like, they still have to learn to control it, but you get it)
I repeat, they HATE it.
#14:
The six have a LOT of nicknames for eachother, the number is INSANE.
But there are several nicknames that are solely passed down from Elemental to Elemental.
These are: Zane’s: Ice, White, Blizzard, Ice Dragon, and Frost.
Kai: Fire, Red, and Fire Dragon. (sry couldn’t come up with any more.)
Cole: Earth, Rock, Cave, Stone, Black, Mountain, and Earth Dragon.
Jay: Lightning, Thunder, (sry i couldn’t resist) Cyan, Electricity, Blackout, and Lightning Dragon,
Nya: Water, Sea, River, (other names of bodies of water) Pond, Stream, Ocean, (they stopped using that one after Seabound) Lake, Rain, and Water Dragon. Me: *says “other names of body of water” but proceeds to type those anyway* Lloyd: Green, Energy, Life, (A lot of Lloyd’s nicknames are related to his element because he’s the first Energy Ninja in existence)
#15:
As for the other nicknames….. >:D Zane: Frosty, Whiteout, Ice Cube, Ninjacle, (reference to Pilots, I think) Ice Tornado, Icicle, Snowy, Snow, Falcon Boy, Braincell-Number-One (I think that last one is Sensei G’s fault) Tincan, and Polar Bear. Those are the ones I came up with on the spot.
Another inside-joke-nickname is Living Ice Cube or Alive Ice Cube.
Kai: Flamethrower, Fiery, Hothead, Campfire, Hot Air, and Fire Tornado.
Another inside-joke-nickname is Living Flamethrower or Alive Flamethrower.
Cole: Rocky, Rockman, Rockman, Dirtbrain, Dirtclod, Mud, Rockslide, Earthquake, Earth Tornado, Righty and Lefty (reference to Earth Punch) and Boulder.
Another inside-joke-nickname is Living Rock or (the one they used the most) Alive Rock or Alive Mountain..
Jay: Sparky, Sparks, Zaptrap, Zappy, Shock, Blackout, (Jay had caused many, after all) JJ, Jaybird, Insane Idea Man, Blabbermouth, Stormy, Bolt, and Lightning Tornado.
Another inside-joke-nickname is Living Lightning Bolt or Alive Lightning Bolt.
Nya: Mostly the ones up above, except they also call her Water Tornado, Braincell-Number-Two, (I think that last one is Sensei G’s fault), and Tsunami.
Another inside-joke-nickname is Alive Tsunami and Living Tsunami.
Lloyd: Green Bean, Bush, Grasshopper, Buddy, Kiddo (Also Sensei G’s fault), Little Brother, (ALL OF THE OTHEٍR FIVE WITH USE THAT ON HIM) Incarnation of the Word Hyperactive, Nephew, (MASTER WU WILL NEVER LET THAT ONE UP) and so many more, if i tried to type them all my fingers would fall off.
#16:
Master Wu has his nicknames for the six. Even as they got older, he never did and probably never will let up on them.
Zane: “Young/ Little Frost."
Kai: “Young/Little Flame."
Cole: “Young/Little Rock (Sry could not come up with better)
Jay: “Young/Little Spark.

*grabs your neck* tell me everything you have about seabound- i mean inferno.
*pats neck* sorry...
Will the events leading to inferno still be the same as what happened in seabound?? What will happen to kai??
Also in this sss! Au, you said that when wu told him that he was the elemental master of fire he took it better than nya, did he ever have a moment of frustration? Kai is... a very proud man, i can imagine him getting frustrated that all the way from the start he did have to power to protect nya- and also himself- he just didnt know it existed in him. Pre! Possesion and even after becoming the samurai i can imagine him feeling like a total failure because here nya was with her ninja skills and spinjitsu and her elemental powers- not that he cant fight- and hes supposed to be the older brother!! He raised her!! He was the one that was supposed to protect her!! And he failed. (Sad noises)
Oohh wu and him training montage, since he probably had to come to terms with his feelings of failure much earlier because of his inability with most things nya is capable of (tech, mechanical things, not-getting-kidnapped) what would be the weakness wu discovered from kai? Personally the only thing i can think of is him feeling useless, he wants to complete his training as soon as possible so he can help his siblings (insert rgb siblings) and protect them with his newfound abilities. Wdyt?
(Sorry i really enjoy kai angst)
I'm so glad you like Kai angst because I've done a LOT of rethinking and rewriting of this au in the 2 years it's been MIA. I just answered this ask, which summarizes my plans for Inferno, so I will refer you to that for that topic. As for your thoughts on Kai feeling like a failure, you hit the nail on the head! He does, in fact, have a couple breakdowns and Wu wisdom/training montages! His breakthrough will center around accepting change and taking his time to do things. He struggles with a lot of feelings of inferiority and anger at how long it's taken him to get to this point, and he hates feeling like he's moving backward. Wu will be teaching him that progress isn't linear, and his worth as a person isn't equivalent to whether or not he could parentify himself enough to keep Nya safe. I think Wu will also help him to take himself less seriously, as I think Kai will be more reserved before becoming a ninja in this au and afterward shift more toward how open he is in canon. Also, good lord, I live for asks that are this long and this excited for my silly little au, and I hope you return to the SSS au convo, even if it's been two years!!

Lost Potential with Ninjago's Wildbrain Seasons
Let me start this off with a question. When looking at the Wildbrain seasons, from Secrets of Forbidden Spinjitzu to Crystalized, what do you believe is the common theme connecting all of them?
I'm sure there are many answers to this question, but the common theme that I noticed a while back was that each part had a major focus on one of the Ninja and their Elemental Powers. Or at least they did at some point during their development.
Allow me to explain. Secrets of Forbidden Spinjitzu is split up into two halves, the Fire and Ice chapter, which corresponds to Kai and Zane and their powers being usurped by villains, Kai by force and Zane through manipulation. Master of the Mountain covers Cole and his connection to the Earth and Seabound covers Nya and her connection to the Water. Crystalized doesn't really cover Lloyd's Elemental Powers (whatever the hell they are) but it does feature heavily his heritage and the abilities it grants him, which is a whole other can of worms that I'll probably write about later. Finally, during Prime Empire's development, Jay's mother was originally going to play a pivotal role in this season, and also presumably the Element of Lightning as well. There is also the 4 episodes of The Island, but I think of that as more of a prologue to Seabound than its own season.
By now you've probably connected the dots as to what exactly this "lost potential" is. How cool would it have been to have the Fire and Ice chapters gone in depth about how Kai and Zane felt about and controlled their powers to the extent of Seabound and MotM did? Or if it delved deeper into Jay's Lightning powers and his desire for a relationship with his birth mother, and how those feelings conflict with his love for his adopted parents? Or if Crystalized didn't chicken out at the last moment, and Lloyd actually got to use that cool ass Oni form?
But they didn't. At the very least, Dragons Rising seems to be focusing more on Elemental Powers than ever, which is something I know many of the fans are really grateful for.
In lieu of that, here are some head-cannons and ideas for the Ninja's powers that we didn't get in the show:
Kai is very well known for getting in his own way due to believing that he is the "main character" of sorts. This main character syndrome he experiences causes him to subconsciously expect that everything will go his way with him putting in minimal effort. This directly conflicts with what his Fire powers rely on. Passion, ambition, and desire. This is why his powers always gets stronger when he's helping other people, because it reacts to his passion and desire to protect those he cares about.
I like to think that Zane didn't work quite right until he became the Master of Ice. Computers produce a lot of heat, and if not properly cooled then they are prone to malfunctions and damage from overheating. Dr. Julien had that same problem when creating Zane, but when the previous Master of Ice found Zane and saw potential in him that he liked, ha passed his power to the robot. After that, Zane's overheating problem disappeared and he was able to take the first steps to becoming someone who protects those who cannot protect themselves.
Lightning is the result of two forces seeking to find balance. When positive charges and negative charges accumulate inside a cloud, the atmosphere initially acts as an insulator, but when the charges become too great, lightning strikes to release all that energy at once, and when it does it finds the path of least resistance. This idea is a bit more loose and not as well thought out due to me not having a firm idea of how to better improve Prime Empire in general, but I think it would be a cool idea if Jay's love for his adopted parents and Jay's desire to have a relationship with his birth mother were the two forces accumulating inside Jay during the events of Prime Empire. The Ninja, his friends, would act as his insulator, but as they disappeared one by one, the dichotomy would grow inside him until he released it all during the final fight with Unagami. Unagami may not deserve the unbridled wrath of a thunderbolt, but he's right there and Lightning always takes the path of least resistance, whether or not its justified.
Lloyd is very accepting and in touch with his dragon heritage, but not so much with his Oni side due to his father being only resurrected with his Oni half. He has seen first-hand what uncontrolled anger and hatred can do to someone, and he's scared of using that power. But the thing is, under the right circumstances, anger is a good thing. It allows us to see the injustices around us and gives us the drive to fight against it. Upon realizing this, he finally comes to term with his entire heritage and allows him to unlock the power of the Golden Oni. The colors of the Dragons and the form of the Oni unite to create a greater power, it is the embodiment of Righteous Fury. That is how the overlord should have been defeated in Crystalized. The Golden Ultra-Dragon can still help, but this would have been much cooler than what we actually got.
And those are some of the thought I have that would've improved the Wildbrain seasons. If you have any ideas or opinions about the Ninja's Elemental Powers or what you would do to improve those seasons, feel free to let me know, I always love hearing the ideas of others!

Ninjago Species by the Season
I made this chart upon @weirdcatbean's request. I also wanted to include allignment and centrality on this chart, but as you can see that would get pretty busy.
Here's the percentages.
Interestingly, it keeps a pretty consistent human:non-human ratio. The earlier seasons actually have less humans percentage wise, which I did not expect. However, I should note that this chart includes every single named character, so while yes there may be 36 humans in Seabound for instance, 19 of them are ensemble who were just there for Nya's funeral. I'll be making an improved version of this chart later that's a bit easier to read and includes some more relavant data points. Now, you may be wondering, why didn't I include what the chart looks like without the inclusion of ensemble from the beginning. I admit, normally I would. To explain why I didn't, I have to tell the story of how I came up with these numbers.
Methodology
While I could have just tallied up individual species season by season, I knew I would probably want to play with the data in other ways besides just this one chart. Thus, I undertook the massive endeavor of indexxing every Ninjago character by Name, Type, Allignment, Species, Gender, and Season. For instance, here's the pilot season.
You may be wondering what the New/Old column is all about. In order to include the full character breakdown for each season, I had to make new entries of each character every season. This created a lot of repeats, so to separate unique characters from repeats I noted whether character's were introduced with this season (new) or whether they were a repeat (old). This was also useful in that it allowed me to alter the criteria of a character with each season so I can accomadate for changes such as Cole turning into a ghost. Once I had compiled this data (839 entries and 292 unique characters), I attempted to use Google Sheets' pre-provided data analysis.
It was sort of useful, but it would only show the top 4 and bottom 4 frequencies and I couldn't copy and paste the data. It also was a bit fussy around filters. Thus, I did something a bit wonky where I filtered by season and just copy pasted the column into a different sheet.
I then used functions (ex: =COUNTIF(AC3:AC1002, "Skeleton")) to create my raw data table which you can view above. This process worked but it had a lot of problems. It was time consuming, didn't allow me to employ multiple filters, and, most importantly of all, it wasn't allowing me to use this data I had spent days compiling to its full extent. Thus, I decided to create a sort of search engine for Ninjago characters.
This search engine allows me to input criteria and recieve not only the total characters that fit the criteria, but a list of all of their entries. The fact it lists all of their entries may not sound that impressive, but trust, it is. (For me at least) Here's an example search of good, recurring Serpentine.
I am very excited about the potential of this tool. It's going to allow me to create a lot of great charts, including an improved Species by Season chart. For now though, I'm only uploading the original requested chart, because creating this tool has taken the better part of my day. I plan on sharing it, but I still need to work out a few kinks so you can look forward to that as well. I know I already said it, but I'm so, so excited about what I'll be able to make. Here's a preview to the search if you're interested. It also includes all my previous spreadsheets, but I'm still working out some formatting issues and stuff.

for wyv au;
whos ur favorite character to include that isnt the Main Duo ?
are there any parallels/similarities to other au's of urs? (namely transgender au)
which seasons have the greatest impact on this au?
if ur willing to share, whats the best scene you have mapped out in your head? (doesnt have to be a major spoiler. it could be something like siren jay popping a balloon for shits and giggles)
whats ur favorite aspect of the toxic dependency that notjaya have for one another?
does siren jay smell like fish ? does nya smell like fish from all the fishing ? does that smell draw sirenjay to nya ?
why doesnt siren jay just consume nya, is he stupid ? (that last ones a joke, but i am curious on if the more emotional she is, the better she tastes or not.)
does siren jay ever develop any actual feelings for nya...
thats all chat !
favorite character to include that isnt the Main Duo?
That's hard because I really love all of them, and many I am still in the process of figuring out, so there may be dimensions to characters I add later that makes me like them more. Right now I think it's Lloyd because I think he is the shining beacon in the dark mist that is this au. And also because I have a Lloyd bias.
are there any parallels/similarities to other au's of urs? (namely transgender au)
I think characters having conflicting reactions to life problems and intense relationship drama brewing because of it is a common thread through many of my au's. I think it also has the most notable similarities to Splinter-Hearted back when that was an au, especially the idea of Kai and Nya's sibling relationship breaking down in reaction to loss.
You didn't ask, but I think the main difference this au has to my others is the subtlety with which I'm portraying the more magical/supernatural aspects of the story, and the tone, which is probably the most Adult I've ever approached a silly spinning ninjas au by.
which seasons have the greatest impact on this au?
guess it's kinda obvious, but Seabound and DR s2. Skybound as well as it's sort of foundational to why those other seasons even work. And obviously I'm sprinkling in a bit of Possession for flavor (don't expect Morro to make a miraculous return here tho, its just the vibes)
Fun fact is actually that Nya's locket is designed to look like a compass in the front, to mirror the compass which held Delara's photo in Skybound.
if ur willing to share, whats the best scene you have mapped out in your head?
There's a point in the story where everyone piles into a car for a drive. Everything goes very wrong from there <3
whats ur favorite aspect of the toxic dependency that notjaya have for one another?
I like how simultaneously very alien and very human it is. The thought patterns of the siren are impossible to comprehend for a human as the thought patterns of a creature from the ocean's abyss, and yet at its core, its drawn to Nya's side by a universal instinct - a gnawing hunger which screams to survive. I think the grief that drives Nya's actions is just as indiscernible, and just as primal.
does siren jay smell like fish ? does nya smell like fish from all the fishing ? does that smell draw sirenjay to nya ?
Imagine everything in this au smells like fish and seaweed and brine and rust all the time. Everyone in Stiix is pretty noseblind to it.
why doesnt siren jay just consume nya, is he stupid ? (that last ones a joke, but i am curious on if the more emotional she is, the better she tastes or not.)
It's not about emotionally fattening her up for the slaughter or anything like that. Sirens are not really stronger than humans physically, their only real weapons are their voices and appearance. It's just that they rarely encounter anyone as capable of resistance for no discernible reason as Nya is. The siren has no choice but to continue to play her little game until it can break down her defenses, or risk death if she ever leaves the city of Stiix.
does siren jay ever develop any actual feelings for nya...
He tells her he loves her, once. Interpret that as you will.
