Lessiniabatis aenigmatica was a rather strange stingray.

It lived around 50-48 million years ago during the early Eocene, in a shallow warm sea covering what is now Italy, with its three known fossil specimens all coming from the fish-rich Monte Bolca fossil beds.

About 60cm long (~2'), it had a round pancake-like body similar to many modern seafloor-dwelling stingrays – but uniquely it was also almost tailless, with only a tiny, slender, stingless tail.

It wasn't a particularly strong swimmer, instead probably spending most of its time buried in the muddy seafloor sediment. When on the move it likely swam along just above the surface of the seafloor using undulations of its fins, foraging for smaller bottom-dwelling animals like worms, molluscs, crustaceans, and fish.

The googliest of eyes Im crying he is so stupid. Truly a sea pancake with no thoughts in his head.

Done in clip studio paint EX, he will be keychained and hopefully I will be able to add him to the shop and sell him if yall would want him. I will order two options, both of them double sided acrylic keychain with holograpahic stars, one around 7.5 cm with a clamshell looking clasp, and the other around half the size with a string ti attach to the phone. Hopefully I could do it soon. I will post a poll, please pass it around, and mark if you would like to order him from my kofi shop (actually want to, and will do it). If you will, I will order a small selected amount, to test the print quality and how long it gets here and if people will actually buy it, and if it will go well it will go permanently into my shop because he truly is the stupidest most adorable baby.

Okay I saw @tj-crochets manta ray patterns and I was so excited about them I had to make one real quick 😅 I will admit I'm at my family's house and we don't have a printer so I had to free draw the pattern onto my fabric but it worked out pretty well! I will say 1- make sure to leave yourself enough room to turn the plushie because I did NOT and I had to rip some seams to get it to fit 😅 but here's my little sea flap flap!

Thank you so much TJ for having such a cute pattern available for free! I'm really looking forward to making another manta ray when I have more fabric to work with!
