i’m in my sea of solitude era and it is NOT good where is my little boat to help me solve all of my problems
#ranting on tumblr is an interesting thing bc i Like being able to ‘talk’ about things bothering me out loud#unfortunately i also like. responses in talking. some back and forth and comfort and whatnot#tumblr is just a void to scream into when i can’t rationalize thoughts in my brain#the issue is that then i just spiral into insanity bc there’s nobody reminding me i’m being paranoid#or reminding me that the things my brain convinces me of aren’t real#the Other issue is that nobody does that in real life either bc my mental problems are often ignored in favor of others’#fun fact: even your friends with the same mental illnesses will not make you feel better#no support here. no support there. a year on a waitlist for therapy. exhaustion exhaustion exhaustion#so ANYWAYS. my sea of solitude era! but i am so so bad at solitude#just an FYI sea of solitude is a great video game go check it out#moon babbles#i love how nowhere in this whole post did i actually talk about what’s bothering me#good job vi 10/10 at talking

My personal review of Sea Of Solitude
I really don't review games very often, and this is the first time I've done so completely unprompted (This review will likely contain spoilers). I played this game on Switch, in English. Everything from the scenery to the controls to the voice acting was perfect. I'm an absolute sucker for collectibles, so the bottled messages and seagulls definitely added something for me. Along with that, the messages added to the story itself, the background of the character we play. The narrative is powerful and emotional, and it really hit close to home for me. It's not often that a game makes me cry but this one managed it multiple times throughout.
(Note I'm adding part way through writing the next part- I am really trying to make this good but my brain is deciding to be a little robot monkey playing cymbals instead of working :/ apologies if part of this is mid)
(This is turning into more of a summary than a review-)
[Spoilers start here, it's up to you whether you read past this but initially not knowing added a lot for me tbh. I got this game just because it looked neat and I felt I would like it.]
I loved that I didn't know right away what was going on. In most games I prefer to know what I'm doing but this just felt right. A journey that I'm stumbling through until I get my bearings. My favorite part of the first level is definitely the school. You get to know what your brother is feeling, and, for me at least, it makes you angry. You have to help him. The entire time you're trying to get to him you hear the words the bullies flung at him and it pushes you forward. And next to that is guilt. Getting to know through the storyline that you let this happen without even knowing it.
Part of what hit so close to home is that I myself am an older sibling with parents who can't stand each other anymore- and I've felt the guilt that this game tackles at points. The idea that if it wasn't for me, they could have left each other whenever they wanted. There was a rift between the mother and father characters in this game. They couldn't communicate, the father was so focused on getting enough money to keep his family happy that he couldn't see how unhappy they were. The mother was exhausted and lonely, and couldn't even speak to him about it without him being upset (going off of in-game dialog). They were both tired. They didn't know what to do. They just turned it into anger.
You end up in the same position as the character's mother. Walking on eggshells with someone you're supposed to love. And you just keep trying to help them. You keep trying to tell yourself everything is fine. Telling yourself that you're the problem.
One thing I knew I wanted to mention in this is how it starts to feel at a point. I'm not great with numbers or keeping track of what chapter I'm on though. You start to feel tired, emotionally, from helping the people you knew. And I don't mean that in a bad way at all. It feels right for the topic. You have done so much to try and help, but you can't join the people you've helped. You're still separated. And you start to wonder if your fear, that horrible monster that blocks your path, is right. Maybe you can't fix it all. Maybe it's pointless. But you continue on anyway.
Ultimately, you need to help yourself.
Over all, I cannot overstate how much I love this game. I can definitely see myself replaying it, which isn't something I usually do for games without a lot of endings. I would recommend it to anyone who likes emotional narratives, exploration, and games with monsters. Absolute 10/10. End of the game was spoiled a bit by my brother who can't take anything seriously though, so best played alone or in serious company.

Some characters as they appear within Beast Ancients AU (Info below)
Strawberry Crepe Cookie witnessed the rise of the Beast of Penance, and saw something so horrible that they could do nothing but run for their life. In the chaos, they left something very important to them behind; but the Saint is a kind one. He will return what was lost, and deliver his witness to the peace that was torn from them so long ago.
Pitaya Dragon Cookie sits chained underneath the Hollyberry Palace, studied day in and day out by the royal scientists on the Beast of Pride’s orders. They are hardly in cookie form anymore, only able to shapeshift if the monarch allows. Sometimes they feel like freedom is obtainable, but they often learn it’s only because Dragonberry likes to play games.
Princess Cookie can’t sit idly by as her kingdom falls into darkness. Her grandmother has put her entire family in her pocket, keeping them under strict control, but the princess hates control! She can't believe how complacent everyone is! Against all odds, on one fateful night, she donned an unrecognizable disguise and disappeared in search of help. She knows she's leaving everything and everyone behind, but she'll do anything to get her kingdom back. It's hers as much as it is her family's!
Silverbell Cookie has faithfully served his queen even before she rose to the throne, and watched as she strengthened their kingdom into a formidable force in Beast-Yeast. But he can't help but wonder why she seems so distant and unlike herself... in fact, something about the kingdom he swore to protect feels different. They swear to protect the tree, but now they eye the lands around them, swear to destroy an evil enchantress who prevents their queen from regaining her full self... as Silverbell Cookie continues to dutifully stand at her side, he asks himself, what has the Beast of Sovereignty done to his kingdom?
Caramel Arrow Cookie and Crunchy Chip Cookie swore an oath to stand by their king's side to the bitter end. They fought with him as he protected his kingdom from internal collapse. They watched with elation as he brought the Licorice Sea to kneel before them and never threaten the kingdom again. However, when the Beast of Solitude replaced their steadfast leader, their vows were put to the test as the kingdom was soon claimed by permafrost. While Crunchy Chip cookie had seen the writing on the wall, Caramel Arrow Cookie remained steadfast even as everyone froze around her. In her desperation to get through to the king, Caramel Arrow Cookie made the mistake of stepping out of line, her arm consumed by ice the moment she reached out to him. Crunchy Chip Cookie was quick to pull her away before she could be frozen entirely, and the two fled into the mountains. Crunchy Chip Cookie is looking for someone to help bring his confidant back to good health before the frost completely engulfs her.

why people are jealous of you 𓂃⊹ pac tarot reading
from left to right, top to bottom -> pile 1, pile 2, pile 3, pile 4
•┈┈┈••✦ ♡ ✦••┈┈┈•
pile 1 𓂃⊹ ִֶָ
cards pulled: six of pentacles, five of swords, seven of wands, fool, nine of pentacles. oracles: snow leopard: self-reliance, polar bear: mystic, swan: grace, unicorn: infinite possibilities, days of winter, winter besom, devotional, Brigid's doll
For my pile one's, people are jealous of your giving nature. There is this kindness and grace to you, this lack of hatred and this purity. You may have gone through conflicts and hardship, but it has made you stronger and didn't keep you away from your goals. You are hardworking yet fun and full of adventure. People are jealous of your ability to have fun, to explore - this curiosity and acceptance of your inner child is what people wish they had the strength to accept within themselves.
You are also someone who appreciates life. You are grateful for all that you have, never wanting more. People may be jealous of you, but that word doesn't exist in your vocabulary and that may make them furious lmao. Pile one's you are such a sweet, warm, and kind person. It is hard to find someone like you in this world.
With the animal oracle cards, you are independent and probably enjoy your own company. Where everyone else may get bored staying home all day, especially on their own, you thrive in such an environment. Maybe your hobbies involve things such as art, reading, writing, playing video games, or something musical, where staying home or within your own company is where you're able to have the most fun.
Challenges are what make you incredibly strong, you are a dreamer and someone who has a strong potential to become a tarot reader too! There is something incredibly mystical and graceful to you. You see things most people may not even understand. You get people on deeper levels, but also yourself. There is so much wisdom and goodness within you, so much elegance, beauty and love. People who are jealous of you don't understand that. I feel like, only people who have so much negativity and hate would be jealous of you. They wouldn't appreciate your inner world and your good nature.
Extra messages + why people would be jealous:
'I must seek to befriend the hidden parts of self, the darkness that embraces the whole of who I am'
you completely understand yourself, you accept yourself for who you are, both the good and the bad. You are content with who you are and that is so, so beautiful.
'Sweep away ill intent while creating boundaries weaved with protection. A witch respects passages of safety'
because you have accepted yourself, you also respect who you are. Therefore, you don't let people with bad intentions close, your boundaries are clear.
'There's something so intimate when letters reflect the tongue, in times of introspection when I am at my most vulnerable and revealing all the lives in me'
doubles down on you understanding yourself, especially your inner world, and enjoying your own company.
'Thread by thread I weave my desires, working as one with the source of creative power'
you are so strong Pile one. Whatever you put your mind to, you can achieve. You have the knight of pentacles energy, the ability to take your time, moving with a steady pace towards your dreams.
pile 2 𓂃⊹ ִֶָ
cards pulled: hermit, three of wands, ten of cups, emperor, king of cups | Lynx: keeper of secrets, lion: higher calling, squirrel: always prepared, sea turtle: protection, snowdrops, winter woodlands, milk moon witch, dark days of winter
People are jealous of your ability to look within and come out stronger. You enjoy your own company and solitude, able to find the deeper meaning or purpose within your life. At the point you are reading this pac, you may be levelling up within your career or life, or you are constantly achieving. People are jealous of your successful nature, feeling closer towards envy. You may even have a good relationship with your family, especially your father, and feel content surrounded by those you care about - you may thrive in such an environment.
You are someone who creates your own future through your efforts, beliefs, and preparedness. You are someone who is able to work just as hard as you have fun. There is this playful and cheerful nature to you that is so contagious, just like the courage in your heart. The Lynx card is just like the hermit, 'in silence and solitude, you will find your strength'. There is so much confidence in your self, in your ability to make the right choices. You are also great at keeping secrets and seeing things in other people - either deception or their true selves. You work hard, yet you also have the ability to go with flow. There are so many layers to you and yet you are an incredibly balanced individual. You create your own path, your own rhythm and flow in life. And this is what people are jealous as sometimes they feel stuck on the path they were given, or clueless on the direction they wish to pursue yet, with you, you draw your own line on the map and follow it with so much perseverance and strength. You're unwavering, like a turtle which swims along the current of the ocean.
Extra messages + why people would be jealous:
'when all seems to stem from the unknown, hold firm in knowing all will be as it should'
you have this understanding and trust in your abilities, unwavering and strong in the path that you follow. People are jealous of you being someone unable to give up no matter what challenge presents itself.
'Take time to honour what you feel. Self-compassion is the healing balm you desire'
you accept your feelings, you love and trust yourself when most don't, and you truly understand who you are as a person. There is a sense of respect towards yourself that others wish they felt towards themselves.
'Watch as the tides turn in your favour, weaving the waters within and conjuring unspoken desire'
whatever wish, goal, or dream you have, you're able to achieve and fulfil. It's as though both luck and your skills are what lead you through the path of greatness, and this feels more like that of envy than jealousy of your life and achievements.
'I must seek to befriend the hidden parts of self, the darkness that embraces the whole of who I am'
Again, just like the hermit, you are able to accept both the good and bad traits within you, admitting that they are what make you, you. These shadow selves show that you are human, that you have flaws just like everyone else and you aren't ashamed of them. This confidence and love for yourself is what people feel jealous of.
pile 3 𓂃⊹ ִֶָ
cards pulled: ace of swords, page of swords, three of cups, two of pentacles, ace of pentacles, nine of pentacles, five of swords, lovers, seven of swords | fox: clever, tiger: fire, penguin: authentic, dog: friend, black bear, horned owl, casserole, cinnamon rolls
There seems to be a lot of jealous energy around you pile 3. This could be from people who you are around often, or those who you had cut off. You may have had conflict with a friend group of 3 or more people, and these friends may be the jealous ones, which their jealousy could have been the reason for conflict, tension, or the falling apart of this friendship.
The reason as to why people may be jealous of you is because of your communication skills. You are someone who is able to express their thoughts and feelings clearly, articulately, and may even be witty. There is likely this intelligence to you, especially a social and verbal intelligence. You may be incredibly good at forming connections and networking. The way you communicate brings forth opportunities that may lead to wealth. You are goal-oriented and always look towards the future and towards a new adventure. There is this humbleness to you, this gratitude, and people are jealous of what you have achieved and what you have. They're jealous because they see you as having more than them, about having the life they wish they had. This could also be skills of yours that they're jealous of.
You are also good at balancing your relationships with your life and work, you have so much love, warmth, and kindness to you. If you are in a relationship, they are jealous of that as well, as they see it as an ideal connection. Even with conflict, you are warm, understanding, and still value the people who you are tense with. It frustrates them. I keep getting this negative energy. This frustrated, irritated, and jealous person/people that don't seem to have an ounce of good intentions towards you. If they are ex friends and you were the one to end the relationship, I am so, so proud of you. You did well, even if it were hard, you deserve only good things and people to surround you, especially as you seem like such a lovely character with so much love around you.
With the oracle cards, they're jealous of your mind, of your intelligence. You always find a solution to problems that arise, you have a strong instinct and have a lovely heart. You have this fire within you, this drive and determination. You have so much passion and are unmoving from your path - bold and brave. You are also unafraid to be your authentic self, and people are jealous because they put on an act, lacking in confidence and bravery. You value relationships, family and all close connections, loving your uniqueness and constantly surprise others in a pleasant way. You may be loved by most people, simply because you are you. You are yourself and no one can change that. You are a true friend and a true companion. You are loyal, a protector, a happy and positive person, as well as having a lot of energy and enthusiasm to you. People really do want to be like you, they want to see the world and themselves the way you do. To have such drive, determination, and enthusiasm.
Extra messages + why people would be jealous:
'your existence is the resistance. All you must do is accept the power waiting you arrival' This relates back to you being your authentic self. You don't let anyone tell you who you are or who you should be. You being yourself is resisting against cultural norms and societal expectations. Could even be the expectations of your friends, family, and environment. You know your own strength and power.
'become the shadow that watches, keeping quiet while moving intentionally'
this could be focused more so on the people who are jealous - to be aware of those around you. To watch, to observe, to make note of possible red flags. Be careful of who you trust and who you let into your life. It is important that you protect yourself as these people are like shadows that you may not notice. They are quiet but their intentions are there.
'trust in the flavours that led you here, an unexpected alignment. Let it move you in ways that capture your soul'
People are jealous of your experiences, the way they shaped you into the person that you are now. You have so many things to talk about, so much to share, so much you have lived through and will continue to experience. There is so much depth, strength, and resilience to you.
'warm my heart; all-deserving comfort readies my heart'
You really are a warm, welcoming, loving, and kind soul. You wear your heart on your sleeve, a comforting presence open to love and connections. It is important that you know and appreciate that side to you as well as it is so, so beautiful. So precious and sweet.
pile 4 𓂃⊹ ִֶָ
cards pulled: two of cups, emperor, two of swords, knight of cups, magician, ace of swords, five of pentacles, fool, eight of cups | black jaguar: old soul, butterfly: rebirth, swan: grace, lion: higher calling, arts and crafts, Angelica, river rocks, bathing ritual
People are jealous of your ability to create meaningful and lasting connections/relationships. You have this ability to be like the emperor and the knight of cups, there are two very different sides to you that creates a sense of balance. The emperor is one of authority, confidence, strength, and a protector. They are like that of a pillar within relationships and are great caretakers too, you don't bend or break for any or anything, and you even communicate in such a way - as well as communicating with clarity and intelligence, having such an intricate way of words. The other side to you is one of romance, innocence, gentleness, and this sense of childlike wonder. There is this purity to you and this excitement, adventure, and energy. It's as though you are like an old and new soul in one. You know your purpose, you have a strong value of people and relationships, but you also have a creative, romantic, dreamer side too, with so much emotion and sensitivity.
Even when you feel alone/lonely, or if you're struggling financially, you have this optimism to you, and this drive to get out of such feelings and situations. You don't let the negativity of your life or surroundings bring you down, you don't dwell or stay at a standstill, you find ways to leave it all behind in search for something great.
You really are that of an old soul with the black jaguar oracle. You move through life with this confidence and grace, you know what you want and you don't lose sight of it, turning your dreams into reality. You are constantly changing, growing, transforming, and reinventing yourself. You are open to change and the good that would come out of it. You love and appreciate the journey and, once you arrive at the end of it, you have so much gratitude and are humble of your achievements. There is also this beauty, wisdom, and elegance to you, like the swan, you grab others attention and respect/appreciation of you. You have this dignity, like royalty, you carry yourself well. You have courage to face hardships, you don't live in the past, able to let go of things that no longer serve you because you know your worth. You really do value relationships, finding contentment and strength in them.
Extra messages + why people would be jealous:
'nothing exists without the essence of spirit. May it be whispers or chants, your energy is what brings life to all that you create'
you may be an artist or creative, someone who has such a strong energy and puts a lot of effort, character, and life into whatever you do. There is passion, authenticity, and something deep and real to you.
'the bells have rung far and near. Underneath feathered wings, my dear, you have nothing to fear'
You protect your health, heart, and mind well, as well as those around you. You are a protector to people you care about and yourself. You are a pillar, a source of strength, and you don't let others worry or fear things.
'go with the current, dear one; find peace in letting go. Let life wash over your soul and welcome your becoming'
You are likely someone who goes with the flow, you don't let things hurt you or people to not treat you right. You leave situations and relationships that do not serve you, you let go when it is necessary so to protect your peace and yourself. This is what lets you to grow into a strong character.
'with you, water spirit, I wash away what no longer serves me and drink in spells that call for healing'
Similar to the one above, you are good at healing yourself, about not letting past hurts affect the you today. You cleanse your heart and mind of pain and troubles, and you let yourself feel only what you know you deserve - happiness, positivity, love and light. And that is truly beautiful and what others who may be struggling or have negativity in their hearts would be jealous of.

Not sure what it is but I feel compelled to post about my completed games. I've just been pulled to post about the games I've played, so here it goes. Oh, I try my best to avoid spoilers but there is a chance I didn't make something vague yet specific enough fi you know what I mean.
Sea of Solitude is a single player game that I completed in two sessions in a total of 4.5 hours. It's story is based on the creator's own personal life and mental health experiences and is delivered through first person narration with us being able to here and somewhat experience flashbacks throughout the game. The goal is to defeat the monsters and return to our human form, while the player controls Kay moving throughout the world in her boat or running around certain areas of the map.
There a side quests for seagulls and bottles with messages in them that seem pointless to do, though a completionist may enjoy that struggle. I wasn't so committed to this game that I wanted to go out of my way, though I did get them whenever it seemed easy enough to get to their locations. I focused on the main story and liked the exploration and revelations Kay had along the way.
My biggest issue I had with the game was the camera movement and controlling the boat. It was frustrating when the boat just did it's own thing and the camera got difficult to maneuver. My only other major issue was the lack of options for offensive or defensive movement in a few major sections. I literally almost rage quit during one part because I would basically be reset the second I lost the object I was holding.
Other than that, I thought the monsters all having fur was weird yet somehow made them cohesive which makes sense considering their origin in Kay's mind. Also, the ending was somehow abrupt - this is specifically at the very end of the game in the last two chapters.

My brain is failing me, whats that one art piece that's framed like an RPG where if you do anything you destroy life on another planet
You're almost certainly thinking of P H Lee and Aura Belle's Four Ways to Die in the Future, an anthology of tabletop RPGs on the subject of death which require progressively fewer participants; "Amid Endless Quiet" is a game for three or more; "Island in a Sea of Solitude" is a one-on-one video LARP; "Alone on Silver Wings" is a solo journalling exercise; and "The Tragedy of GJ 237b" – the one I suspect you have in mind – is a self-labelled game for no players.

⤷ ⋆ * ˖ ౨ৎ ⋆ mihawk﹕
mihawk prefers the finer things in life, but he also values solitude, so he’d settle for having a home-cooked meal with you
he’s fine with doing most of the cooking but doesn’t mind if you want to help
each dish is prepared with love (and home-grown fresh ingredients picked directly from his monkey-run garden…)
the dinner itself is fantastic, he brings out the nice plates and even opens a bottle of his favorite vintage champagne (did that tag say ฿5,000,000?)
he makes pleasant conversation with you, asking about your hobbies, interests, anything to know you better
after the dinner, mihawk offers you to walk around his vast estate, watching the sunset on the island with him
he’ll propose that you stay on the island for tonight, showing you to an extravagant room, but he is happy to escort you back to your own home if you choose
⤷ ⋆ * ˖ ౨ৎ ⋆ crocodile﹕
crocodile takes you to a lavish restaurant in arabasta (one that he owns, he’s had this planned for about a week)
the service is exquisite, if you want something all you have to do is tell crocodile and he’ll snap his fingers and ta-da! Instant assistance!
sometimes you think you see crocodile subtly threatening the workers, but he plays it off as friendly banter between boss and subordinate
he asks about your interests, taking note of your likes and dislikes in order to buy you the perfect overpriced gifts
every so often he’ll sneak in a flirtatious remark, flashing you a smirk (and was that a wink?)
once you finish your meals he’ll escort you out in perfect gentlemanly fashion, taking your arm and guiding you down the steps
afterwards he’ll offer to show you around arabasta, showing you the hottest tourist locations (skipping every line because he is the crocodile) if you choose to accompany him
⤷ ⋆ * ˖ ౨ৎ ⋆ boa hancock﹕
hancock proposes a relaxing gondola ride, except instead of a person rowing the boat it’s salome tugging it
she packs every dish and meal imaginable: breakfast, lunch, dinner, even dessert
for a while she’ll try to hand feed you, insisting that you don’t lift a finger on this peaceful boat ride
the ride is mostly quiet, except for the occasional sea king who interrupts the ride (and boa immediately turns to stone)
she’ll slowly snake her hand behind your shoulders, her face getting redder the further she gets
sometimes she’ll sneak a kiss in, never daring to go past your forehead (her heart might explode)
when you return to the island she’ll ask if you just want to cuddle, wanting to spend the rest of the day alone with you
⤷ ⋆ * ˖ ౨ৎ ⋆ doflamingo﹕
doflamingo obviously takes you to the classiest venue money could buy: a casino
chances are he probably owns the place, which explains why he’s dropping so much money on the slots (which he keeps winning somehow)
he calls you his ‘good luck charm,’ having you sit on his lap as he plays cards at the high-stakes table
if you ask nicely, he’ll probably let you wear his pink coat which you find out is incredibly soft and probably made with real flamingo feathers
he pulls you closer when the game becomes more intense, whispering flirty comments into your ear while he intimidates the competition
doffy gives you all of his winnings (he’s rich, why would he need all this spare change?)
he’ll take you shopping after with your recently earned money, letting you sit on his towering shoulders as you stroll through the streets of dressrosa

SURPRISE! Did you think the day would come when we would cover Love Live on this blog? I didn't!
Yohane the Parhelion: Blaze in the Deepblue is the Metroidvania-style game based on the fantasy spin-off of Love Live Sunshine, but you probably don't care about that! Statistically speaking, our target audience is Bogleech readers who are deeply revolted by anime girls!
So why bring up? Why bring it up? The answer is 🐠 FUNNY FISH! It's Funny Fish Friday!
Since this game is set in an underwater temple, the enemies this game are all based on sea creatures, and that's cool! Again, statistically speaking, you probably think sea creatures are cool. I really liked seeing the variety of enemies when playing through this game, so I thought it'd be fun if I could share them with an audience of people who otherwise wouldn't care! None of the enemies really have names, as far as I'm aware of. But I'll do my Rubesty...?
Our first guy we encounter in the game is the sort of guy who emerges from the ground like the Zombies from Castlevania, and wow! A good first impression I think. It is sort of a squid mantle, if the mantle was also a cloak for a spooky sort of wizard! The way it doesn't really have a 'face' in the hood and the eye is below really makes it seem like a weird mimic creature. Cool!
They also get a tough lategame variant which looks like a mix between a flapjack and a vampire squid. You don't often see flapjacks be designed as scary!
---
Next is Barnacles! A whole clump of them, like a cake. They shoot Energy Balls at you. Is this what Barnacles can do if they combine their powers...? The top actually opens up, and it looks a lot like a sea urchin's mouth! So maybe it is some sort of naked urchin creature covered in barnacles? Game Theory!
There are also barnacles with Ice Powers. Like real life!
---
Let's give it up for Garden Eel!!!!
What a fine Garden Eel it is! Complete with the sort of grumpy face, and with the addition of two little arms that make it look like it's praying or maybe a bit shy. But it is mean! It also spits energy balls at you, then hides in the hole so you can't hit it. How very sneaky!
SO sneaky, in fact, that these eels have mastered the art of ninjutsu! The ninja eel shows up for a split second in one single room, before smoke bombing away. You'd have to use a time freeze power to get him, but I never got around to doing that. I don't have any beef with a ninja eel! I respect him and his training!
Did someone say CTENOPHORE? I hope you did, or my hearing has really gotten worse. This thing is a grade A ctenophore, only with a ring of Scary Teeth! A little scary to think of a ctenophore who could Bite you, but nonetheless this deserves a :ctenopog:!
---
Let's not forget Fish Vortex! Fish Vortex was the first guy to make me go 'wow, this game's enemies really are awesome!' So of course I had to put him at the top of the post! He is my selling point! I am selling all these enemies to you. For 4.99 a pop!
Anyway. This design is just so funny and cool at the same time. A swirling school of fish that leads into an endless dark abyss, and in the middle, a big eyeball. Also covered in fish. It shoots fish at you! Yay!
There is also a pink variant - it shoots fish that give you the Solitude status effect, which basically just makes Yohane too depressed to summon her friends. Meaning? They are Depression Fish! Maybe she just becomes so jealous of the unity and teamwork of these sardines. She's me like just for real! ^_^
---
isopot :)
---
This slug is an umbrella. That is ridiculous! Ridiculously EPIC! It does the opposite of shield you from rain, which is create rain, that kills you. But I would still want one as an umbrella.
---
When I first saw this thing, I thought it was some strange round Echimoderm I had never heard of. But upon further inspection (I actually asked Mod Chikako shh), it is obviously like a Brittle Star, with each arm folded round to form a wheel! How creative and fun! It even has a bunch of eyes like a starfish!
---
Last but not least- sushi! There are sushi guys and they are cute. They don't really do much and are typically found in their own rooms, so I'm not sure what the point of them is. But finding a funny walking sushi should be a reward in of itself, I guess! Look at their funny rice feet! Or the one with the roe eyes!
I happened to use fire magic on one of them and this happened. Oopsies...
Now I am sure you are saying, thank you for showing me all these funny enemies. But are there any cool bosses? Of course there are, me! What's a Metroidvania without cool bosses? So I shall show you my favorites without delay!
First is this freak (affectionate)! It is a sort of amalgamation of lots of different animals and I think it just looks plain cool! Two squid mantles combined into one, a bit of a sea angel shape, bug legs and of course a great big eyeball!
If it is not freaky enough for you, let it be known that the bug legs turn into big green skeleton hands, and it also keeps getting pinker, and it grows new eyes and then extra horns grow out of those eyes. If THAT is not freaky enough for you then I am sorry but I cannot do anything about that.
---
Now, how about a sampling of this Freaken Thang? It honestly doesn't seem that sea-creature themed, but it uses seashells so I guess it counts!
What is really neat is that this boss has two different forms, upside down and rightside up! When it is upside down it looks a bit like a Magolor type creature. And of course, I really like the flame thing in the middle as well, that really feels like a Kirby enemy or something! Like a wisp made of plasma!
---
Fans of Anomalocaris won't be disappointed by this one! It's a big Anomalocaris tank and boy is it cool! There's something for everyone here, whether you're an Anomalocaris purist or you've always wanted to see it turn into a sort of futuristic beast with a screen mouth that shoots lasers! It really is the future, zura...
---
After covering all these wacky creatures, I'm going to have to end it off with the final boss! What could the big bad, the ultimate boss of all these sea monsters even be, I wonder? Well, it's...
...a coelecanth. Just a big coelacanth! It is big and blue! And really, does it need to be anything else? It is such an honor to make the biggest ultimate boss a coelacanth. It is even pretty cute!! Think he's smiling! 😊
Uh oh! Is it still cute? I guess so. My first thought seeing this was of course the world-renowned tongue eating isopod, so I really hope it was an intentional reference! It probably just wants to shake hands. Still, a pretty simplistic design for our final boss, right?
Buu buu! Its true form actually looks like this! Actually, it's kind of doing too much. Like let's tone it down a little?
So!! We beat the mega ultra coelacanth, and now we can find out what his motivation is! And it is... that he is the memories of the people of the past or something. And they all didn't want to be forgotten, so they turned into fish monsters! But we forgive them!
It doesn't really matter. All the girlies gather around and sing him a song. Look how happy he is! I forgot I was talking about a Love Live game until now, actually. All's well that ends well, the end, et cetera! Hit it, Yohane! [imagine this is like the end of a kids movie where all the Love Live girls are having a dance party and there is a shot of the big coelacanth in jail and he's tapping his mouth fingers along to the beat]

somebody that you used to know
rafayel x mc | angst, no comfort, break up
summary: tired of always being compared to herself, MC confronts rafayel
now and then i think of all the times you screwed me over, but had me believing it was always something that I'd done. but i don't wanna live that way, holding onto every word you say. you said that you could let it go, and i wouldn't catch you hung up on somebody that you used to know.
it was happening again. rafayel was going into a rant about of how forgetful MC is, how he waited for 800 years. MC cant even figure out what triggered it this time, was it because she didn't react to something like he expected her to?
it was draining, to always be compared to someone. its even worse when that someone is you, you just dont remember it. MC is aware of her past lifes, she knows they have existed and she knows that she always has some type of relationship with the artist in front of her. she knows this because of him, but he has never told her the full story for any of those timelines. yet, he reprimands her all the same.
"im done." the hunter interrupted.
"Wh... what?" he replied, panic suddenly evident in his features. "Done with what?"
"With this! I'm not who you want me to be! I know that technically, you are talking about me. But it's me from 800 years ago! And I'm tired of you holding those actions over my head every single time I don't respond accordingly"
Rafayel is stunned, looking at every part of her face for a hint that this is a prank, he only finds anger.
"Its not like I can even guess!" her body language turns more aggressive, hands grabbing her hair in frustration "Because you never even tell me the full story and I am so over this! I am MC, I am a deepspace hunter, a great one at that! I like claw machine games and kitty cards. I'm not a princess, I'm not lost at sea or whatever I was before, and I am most certainly not your lover."
He goes to speak at this last statement, heartbreak evident in his face, but she stops him once again "I am not finished. When we started going out and you told me the basics of everything, you said that you were happy to be with me again and see what this life brought us. But youre still hung up on somebody! Do you know how exhausting it is to fight with yourself for your partners affection? And always feel like youre losing?"
She sighs, the tension leaving her body as she grabs her bag.
"MC wait! Please I'm so sorry" Rafayel grabbed her wrist, tears staining his cheeks "I'll be better, I promise. I-I'll make a vow!"
"You need help, Rafayel. Not a vow. I understand that this is really hard for you, but you need to process the past and accept it as what it is so you can enjoy the present. I know it's easier said than done, but I shouldn't deal with that burden." she removed his hand "I wish... you had just taken my heart and saved lemuria..."
Now at the door, she glanced back at him for the last time "If... you left something at my apartment, have Thomas pick it up."
Rafayel wasn't a stranger to loneliness, always searching for her in their different lives. 800 years of solitude. But this was different. He had always blamed her for the actions she did unconsciously, but this time it was an actual decision for her to leave him
#love & deepspace#love and deepspace#otome#rafayel#rafayel x reader#rafayel x mc#angst#break up#somebody that i used to know#that song is definetly like mc x raf number one song#like the pov of the guy matches raf well too#anyway

Inspired by your last ask! What are the best French books you’ve read that have no English translation yet? I read Play Boy and Qui a tué mon père (really loved the latter) last year and it feels so fun to read something that other Americans can’t access yet
I'm too nervous to make any list of the Best XYZ Books because I don't want to raise your expectations too high! But okay, here's my No English Translation-themed list of books I've enjoyed in recent years. I tried to make it eclectic in terms of genre as I don't know what you prefer :)
Biographies
• Le dernier inventeur, Héloïse Guay de Bellissen: I just love prehistory and unusual narrators so I enjoyed this one; it's about the kids who discovered the cave of Lascaux, and some of the narration is written from the perspective of the cave <3 I posted a little excerpt here (in English).
• Ces femmes du Grand Siècle, Juliette Benzoni: Just a fun collection of portraits of notable noblewomen during the reign of Louis XIV, I really liked it. For people who like the 17th century. I think it was Emil Cioran who said his favourite historical periods were the Stone Age and the 17th century but tragically the age of salons led to the Reign of Terror and Prehistory led to History.
• La Comtesse Greffulhe, Laure Hillerin: I've mentioned this one before, it's about the fascinating Belle Époque French socialite who was (among other things) the inspiration for Proust's Duchess of Guermantes. I initially picked it up because I will read anything that's even vaguely about Proust but it was also a nice aperçu of the Belle Époque which I didn't know much about.
• Nous les filles, Marie Rouanet: I've also recommended this one before but it's such a sweet little viennoiserie of a book. The author talks about her 1950s childhood in a town in the South of France in the most detailed, colourful, earnest way—she mentions everything, describes all the daft little games children invent like she wants ageless aliens to grasp the concept of human childhood, it's great.
I'll add Trésors d'enfance by Christian SIgnol and La Maison by Madeleine Chapsal which are slightly less great but also sweet short nostalgic books about childhood that I enjoyed.
Fantasy
• Mers mortes, Aurélie Wellenstein: I read this one last year and I found the characters a bit underwhelming / underexplored but I always enjoy SFF books that do interesting things with oceans (like Solaris with its sentient ocean-planet), so I liked the atmosphere here, with the characters trying to navigate a ghost ship in ghost seas...
• Janua Vera, Jean-Philippe Jaworski: Not much to say about it other than they're short stories set in a mediaeval fantasy world and no part of this description is usually my cup of tea, but I really enjoyed this read!
Essays / literary criticism / philosophy
• Eloge du temps perdu, Frank Lanot: I thought this was going to be about idleness, as the title suggests, and I love books about idleness. But it's actually a collection of short essays about (French) literature and some of them made me appreciate new things about authors and books I thought I knew by heart, so I enjoyed it
• Le Pont flottant des rêves, Corinne Atlan: Poetic musings about translation <3 that's all
• Sisyphe est une femme, Geneviève Brisac: Reflections about the works of female writers (Natalia Ginzburg, Virginia Woolf, Sylvia Townsend Warner, etc) that systematically made me want to go read the author in question, even when I'd already read & disliked said author. That's how you know it's good literary criticism
Let's add L'Esprit de solitude by Jacqueline Kelen which as the title suggests, ponders the notion of solitude, and Le Roman du monde by Henri Peña-Ruiz which was so lovely to read in terms of literary style I don't even care what it was about (it's philosophy of foundational myths & stories) (probably difficult to read if you're not fully fluent in French though)
Did not fit in the above categories:
• Entre deux mondes by Olivier Norek—it's been translated in half a dozen languages, I was surprised to find no English translation! It's a crime novel and a pretty bleak read on account of the setting (the Calais migrant camp) but I'd recommend it
• Saga, Tonino Benacquista: Also seems to have been translated in a whole bunch of languages but not English? :( I read it ages ago but I remember it as a really fun read. It's a group of loser screenwriters who get hired to write a TV series, their budget is 15 francs and a stale croissant and it's going to air at 4am so they can do whatever they want seeing as no one will watch it. So they start writing this intentionally ridiculous unhinged show, and of course it acquires Devoted Fans
Books that I didn't think existed in English translation but they do! but you can still read them in French if you want
• Scrabble: A Chadian Childhood, Michaël Ferrier: What it says on the tin! It's a short and well-written account of the author's childhood in Chad just before the civil war. I read it a few days ago and it was a good read, but then again I just love bittersweet stories of childhood
• On the Line, Joseph Ponthus: A short diary-like account of the author's assembly line work in a fish factory. I liked the contrast between the robotic aspect of the job and the poetic nature of the text; how the author used free verse / repetition / scansion to give a very immediate sense of the monotony and rhythm of his work (I don't know if it's good in English)
• The End of Eddy, Edouard Louis: The memoir of a gay man growing up in a poor industrial town in Northern France—pretty brutal but really good
• And There Was Light, Jacques Lusseyran: Yet another memoir sorry, I love people's lives! Jacques Lusseyran lost his sight as a child, and was in the Resistance during WWII despite being blind. It's a great story, both for the historical aspects and for the descriptions of how the author experiences his blindness
• The Adversary: A True Story of Monstrous Deception, Emmanuel Carrère: an account of the Jean-Claude Romand case—a French man who murdered his whole family to avoid being discovered as a fraud, after spending his entire adult life pretending to be a doctor working at the WHO and fooling everyone he knew. Just morbidly fascinating, if you like true crime stuff
#ask#book recs#the book i started reading last night is The Naked Neanderthal by Ludovic Slimak and i also didn't#expect it to have an english translation but it does#i'm only at the beginning and so far it's philosophical ponderings about what kind of creature the neanderthals were#if they were humans in a different way than us. with a different kind of intelligence#and how to understand it without projecting our own way of being in the world onto this other humanity#sorry to quote cioran again but it reminds me of when he said every generation misses the good old days and#if we retrace our steps from regret to regret we'll find the original regret#our nostalgia for a time when humans weren't yet human

Subspace and reader who got yeeted into Phighting!
This took too long…second fic, requested by @subspacekisser1! Enjoy, and thanks for taking a week’s worth of my time! :D
-
It was supposed to be a generic bug in your favourite game. One that you wanted to check out. A small portion of Crossroads bugged out, and you wanted to check it out.
Just for laughs, you joined a small group of players by Crossroads' edge and jumped into the water. Like the good times, of course, when life and death didn’t matter and everything was just a game.
As you watched the other players jump off the border of Crossroads and into the sea, phasing through the floor, you followed suit.
One jump and you were falling…falling towards the water, through the ground and into the endless void…
All of a sudden, your eyes started to ache.
Perhaps the beautiful sight of the void was getting too much for you to handle? The eternal blue was quite saturated, after all...
You watched as your main, Subspace, fell into the void, with no end point in sight, falling…wondering when it would end…
Your eyes grew tired, and they started aching. You closed your eyes to let them rest…and the relief from that washed over you like a gentle breeze.
Only now, that gentle breeze felt like an entire hurricane.
Opening your eyes again to see the source of the strong winds, you see the blue void again…but it’s much closer up than you remember.
Deciding to turn your head away from the screen and rest your eyes, you turn left.
The sight of the endless void greets you, almost as if sneering in your face.
The winds that rushed past you? That’s because you were falling into the void.
It’s almost as if the void was trying to convey a message…
“Welcome to the void, (Y/n),” the winds seemed to whisper to you, “this is where your journey starts, and also where it’ll end.”
How pathetic, having your new life in an unfamiliar universe end minutes after it started? All because of a video game…
A cyan frame of radiant light surrounded you. Abruptly, the winds stopped, the void was silenced and, for the first time in the entire incident…you felt alone. No one was there to whisper condescending words in your ear…nothing was there to give you the sense that you weren’t alone in this final journey.
“This is where it all ends, huh? This is where I’ll die…”
The light pulsed slowly like the faint heartbeat of a dying soul calling out for help.
It gradually sped up, and you felt light...as if you were ascending.
You glanced up.
Oh. You were ascending.
The base of Crossroads seemed to get closer and closer, and you realised that you were about to crash headfirst into the bottom of the concrete pavement in Crossroads.
"Wait, stop, stop! I'm gonna get hit!"
Momentary panic set in as you steadily approached the only plane of ground present seen in the void, protesting to whoever or whatever would respond to your helpless pleas. Just as you came into contact with the undersurface of the concrete, however, the frame pulsed one final time, illuminating the surface above you. A blinding flash of light- and you were gone, like the endless whispers in the void.
All you saw was a bright flash of light. One moment you saw the endless void looming ominously below you, promising an eternity of solitude and suffering...and the next, you feel a rush of wind against your face. It wasn't the eternal cold of the void- instead, it felt like a cooling breeze. A temporary rush of adrenaline coursed through your veins- you felt...energised.
Taking a glance at the new, unfamiliar environment, the adrenaline quickly died down as you took in the now-familiar sight.
Individuals in monochromatic shirts strolled around aimlessly...monochromatic horns protruding from both sides of their heads.
Another glance to your right. You saw a familiar grey van with a familiar one-armed individual...wait, where was half the sunlight? Why's it filtered?
Looking up, a dizzying sight met you. The Crossroads tower...where a certain individual would regularly jump from the top, blaring out a particular tune from a boombox...
Your suspicions were confirmed. You were definitely in Crossroads...
Deciding to explore your surroundings further, you paced on...but didn't expect to crash into someone after just a few steps.
"Ouch!! Watch it!!" the individual screeched.
Rubbing your head, you hissed in pain. You were swiftly silenced, however, as you glanced up at the person you crashed into.
It was Blackrock's greatest scientist.
Subspace.
His pink irises glinted in what little light filtered through Crossroads’ tower.
“Hey, watch your step, will ya- what the hell?? Where’s your horns??”
Reaching up to feel the top of your head, you came into contact with nothing but thin air.
It was then you realised that you may have had some basic knowledge of this world but you came here, but you wouldn’t be provided with one thing.
The traits of the Inpherno’s residents.
"Uhhhhh..."
You trailed off. What were you gonna tell him, you got thrown into the void from some other dimension where the Inpherno was nothing but the starting point for a video game.
Subspace didn't even bother listening to whatever you had to say if you even had anything at all. he immediately began inspecting you, brushing apart strands of your hair to check for whatever stumps of horns may be there, but of course- there was nothing.
"The hell- even Hyperlaser has more signs of horns than you, and all he has left are little stumps beneath his helmet!!"
At that point, you were fairly annoyed, perplexed and stunned. One moment you were playing a video game, and five seconds later you ended up in the game's world itself, as well as the very character you always played as having a most one-sided conversation with you
Feeling annoyed by the lack of information, you groaned to get his attention.
"Dude- the reason I don't have any horns wasn't because they got pulled out or something- I just wasn't born with them."
Finally stopping his endless inspections, Subspace finally paused to stare you in the eye, his gaze boring a hole deep into your soul.
"WHAT?! How could you not have been born with horns?? Every resident in the Inpherno has them, I- what?? HOW?!"
Guess it was time to come clean already...
"Well, uhhhh...I'm not from this world. This dimension, specifically."
At your words, Subspace froze. Not from this world? Wasn't the Inpherno one of the only habitable places for demons? Then how did you get here? What even were you?
"Then...where are you from??" he asked, with a panicked expression. "Are you immortal, since you don't have horns that can be pulled out??"
"Hornless demon- or whatever you are..."
"...you aren't gonna hurt me, are you??"
You were quite shocked by what he said. This was Subspace- him not being his high-and-mighty was something new, contrary to his in-game dialogue.
"I...literally cannot," you say, exasperated, "because I don't have a gear, like you guys."
"WHAT?? You don't have horns to pull out, and yet- you're calling yourself weaker than us?!"
"Yeah, but it's not like-"
"I must get back to the lab to analyse you at once!!"
You stood there, shocked. Follow Subspace back to his lab? You weren't even sure if you would survive his experiments- they were either typical experiments and tests a generic scientist would carry out, or grotesque and unorthodox like a mad scientist. But then again...you were quite interested in the life of your video game main. This was something you had always been curious about- what was Subspace's life like? Weighing your options, you made a decision. You would probably be stuck in the Inpherno for a long time, and this was your only shot at shelter, openly presenting itself to you as if the universe, regardless of how much it wanted to screw you over, still wanted to make your life slightly more bearable in some way.
"Fine...I guess."
"Excellent!! This research will prove useful for my inventions!! Ah, I got too caught up, I forgot to ask!! What's your name??"
At this point, you had nothing to lose."
"...(Y/n)."
"...so yeah, that's how I ended up here..."
You were talking to Subspace on the way back to his lab in Blackrock. The eternal winter from that region was already lingering in the atmosphere- you hadn't even reached Blackrock but were already starting to feel cold.
"So...you're saying that your survival does not primarily depend on a set of horns, but depends on your health condition and age?? Interesting...I do hope that-“
He was cut off by a sneeze from you.
“Sorry, Subspace…too cold.”
Without saying a word, Subspace took off his coat and passed it to you.
“Here, take this…I’m not sure what I need to take into consideration when researching your species…but I hope I can assist with your needs!!”
You held the coat in your arms. The fabric felt soft...and smelt of lavender. Putting on the coat, it felt very comfortable and warm...
You had a feeling that your new life probably wouldn't be so bad after all.

Hellooo can I request for soulmates!au with targaryen male reader x oberyn?
Reader is rhaegar's twin brother, but other than the same sliver hair and dark purple eyes they don't look much alike, reader is tall and broad shouldered and on the heavy side, introverted and is not a fan of court whatsoever
Sun kissed
Pairing: Oberyn Martell x Male Targaryen reader Tags: soulmate au {A touch from your soulmate will leave an imprint there}, falling in love, word count : 1179
Y/N Targaryen the twin brother of Rhaegar Targaryen was not one for grand gatherings. With his silver hair cascading down broad shoulders and dark purple eyes that often flickered with disinterest, he stood in stark contrast to his brother's ethereal beauty. Y/N preferred the solitude of the castle gardens, where whispers of nature could replace the empty chatter of the court.
Having left the festivities behind, Y/N wandered through the red keep garden. He stopped by a fountain, its waters shimmering under the light of a crescent moon. There, he let out a long, weary sigh,
Little did he know, someone was watching him from the shadows.
Oberyn Martell leaned against a pillar in the dimly lit space, his dark, serpentine eyes studying the man who was both a prince and a ghost in his own castle. The air crackled with intrigue as the prince of Dorne took a step forward, the fleeting moments of his reputation as a fierce warrior clashing against the pull of something deeper when he laid eyes on Y/N.
"Lost in thought, are we?" Oberyn's voice was smooth like honey, cutting through Y/N's musings.
Startled, Y/N turned, locking eyes with the Martell prince. "Being lost is preferable to being found," he replied with a teasing smirk, an armour against any vulnerability.
Oberyn chuckled softly, the sound invigorating the cool night air. "And yet here I am, willing to find you. Not many can say they have seen Rhaegar's brother."
"People have strange inclinations," Y/N replied dryly, "and I have made it abundantly clear that I do not belong in their games."
“Neither do I,” Oberyn said, stepping closer, the glint of mischief dancing in his eyes. “Court is a web of lies and politics. I'd much rather hear about your thoughts on the sea or the stars.”
Intrigued, Y/N raised an eyebrow. "You are very bold, aren't you? To approach me like this, in the dark."
“Perhaps,” Oberyn admitted candidly, his smirk shifting to sincerity. “I find something… interesting in you.”
Y/N’s pulse quickened at the charged atmosphere weaving around them. “Interesting… how so?”
Oberyn smirked, stepping even closer. For a brief moment, Y/N could almost feel the warmth radiating off the man before him. “You are fierce in your silence. An undercurrent of passion flows beneath, like a dormant volcano. You’re trapped by those who seek to define you. But I am not afraid of fire, nor am I afraid of the ashes.”
And then it happened. Oberyn reached behind his head, brushing aside the silver hair that veiled Y/N’s eyes and cupping his face momentarily in a gentle but daring touch. The world around them faded, and Y/N felt a surge of warmth wash over him, a sensation blooming vividly where Oberyn’s fingers lingered.
It felt as though a piece of himself had been uncovered—a mark left upon him, an imprint that whispered of possibilities. “You…” Y/N faltered, lost in the intensity of the moment. “You felt it too.”
“Of course.” Oberyn’s voice dropped to a seductive whisper, his gaze filled with understanding as if they shared a secret no one else could grasp. Oberyn's eyes gleamed with a mixture of mischief and sincerity, a blend of emotions that both excited and terrified him. “It means we are bound in a way that defies the chaos of our worlds, Y/N. A connection that transcends mere courtly expectations.”
Y/N felt his heart race at the sound of his name on Oberyn’s lips—a melody he hadn’t realised he longed for. They were a stark contrast, he and the Dornish prince; where Y/N was all stormy skies and shadows, Oberyn was the blazing sun, radiating life and intensity. Yet, within that contrast, there was an undeniable pull, a gravity that knew no bounds.
He took a step back, consideration forcing a separation he wasn’t sure he wanted. “You have no idea who I am, Oberyn..” The walls he had built around himself felt shaky now, as if the touch of his soulmate had begun to erode the very foundations he had relied upon for protection.
“Perhaps not,” Oberyn replied, not backing away but rather holding his ground. “But I am not afraid of getting to know you behind your reclusivity. But tell me—what do you truly desire?”
The question hung in the air, heavy with meaning. Y/N had never considered what he wanted for himself beyond the confines of duty and expectation. He rubbed the spot where Oberyn’s fingers had brushed him, a soft imprint warming his skin, like a reminder that he wasn’t just a shadow of his brother.
However, a sense of wariness crept in, fueled by the walls of responsibility society shoved upon him. “I desire—” he faltered.“I desire freedom. The ability to explore the world without judgment hanging over me. Here in King’s Landing, I feel like a ghost. I wish to step away from it all—”
“Then why don’t you?” Oberyn stepped closer, an unyielding shimmer of encouragement sparkling in his piercing gaze. “Leave King’s Landing behind. Come to Dorne with me.”
The proposition came like a revelation, an escape untainted by the dark intrigues of their current lives. “You can't be serious,” Y/N responded, the idea both exhilarating and impossibly terrifying. Just the thought of leaving everything behind sent jitters of anticipate
through his body.
“I am very serious,” Oberyn said, his voice low and inviting. “Dorne is a land of sun and freedom, where the winds carry the salt of the sea and the laughter of the people. You will not have to hide there, Y/N. You could do whatever you wish. Be whoever you want to be.”
The moment was filled with anticipation , and Y/N felt the weight of Oberyn’s words stirring something deep within him. Hope. The flicker of a longing he had tried to extinguish for far too long began to simmer again.
“Your touch…” he said, hesitantly tracing the imprint where Oberyn's fingers had rested. “It leaves a mark. A reminder of our bond.”
Oberyn’s voice turned low, almost conspiratorial. “Then cherish it. Cherish the possibility of what we could create together.” His gaze, sharp as a blade, pierced through the fog of doubt.
“Are you truly unafraid?” Y/N asked, his heart pounding in his chest as he stepped closer to the Dornish prince, boldness emerging he hadn’t recognized within himself before.
“Fear has never kept me from seeking what I desire,” Oberyn replied with decisive earnestness that stoked the fire within Y/N.
“Perhaps one is foolish to court danger so closely,” Y/N mused, allowing a grin to break through his troubled countenance.
Oberyn stepped forward, the air thick with tension perhaps so,but I can think of no greater folly than living a life devoid of passion.”
He took a breath, his heart pounding as he dared “Then, perhaps… Perhaps I will venture with you.” he took his hand clutching it in a fierce grasp. “I will come to Dorne, my prince.”
