San Diego Comic Con 2023!
We're getting ready for Comic-Con International: San Diego, the annual comic book convention and nonprofit multi-genre event is a colossal effort. The creative team at Charles M. Schulz Creative Associates works with the licensing office in NYC, Peanuts Worldwide, to bring the booth to life. The four-day event, which opens with Preview night on Wednesday, July 19th, and then runs from Thursday, July 20 through Sunday, July 23, requires hours of work to plan, prep, and stage boxes, at our office, headquartered in Santa Rosa, Calif. We filled four pallets (labeled for specific days, so the booth has inventory each morning!), then wrapped them to ship.
The creative team at Charles M. Schulz Creative Associates prepares for San Diego Comic-Con 2023! But it’s not all work for the creative team. There’s always a little time to play around and have some fun.
From left, Caitlin Leonard, Tifanee Smith, Amanda Fagundes, Alena Carnes, Emma Harmon (front), Jewel Jackson, Cameron Nilsson (back), and Karri Kenoyer. Here’s a sneak peek of this year’s Comic-Con exclusive hat, celebrating all things Snoopy for Beagle Scouts fans, courtesy of Paige Braddock, Chief Creative Officer here at the Schulz Studio.
Patch design by Mary Shyne. On the show floor, you’ll find the Peanuts gang at Booth #1635, where you’ll be a happy camper to discover Snoopy himself, making in-person appearances throughout the con.
Preparing to set up camp on the show floor. Look for the Peanuts gang at Booth #1635.
Hope to see you at Comic-Con! Join us in the Gaslamp at the Peanuts Pop-up shop, where we’ll set up camp at 200 J. Street, Suite 105, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. We have plenty of activities planned for our guests and some fun new merch for outdoor enthusiasts.
Join us Saturday for the Peanuts panel!
Discover the all-new animated Peanuts content in the works at WildBrain Studios for Apple TV+, the home of all Peanuts content. Includes a sneak peek of Camp Snoopy (2024), the adventures (and misadventures) of Snoopy and his Beagle Scouts at summer camp. Plus enjoy an exclusive reveal of some exciting new Peanuts projects. Panelists include Rob "Boots" Boutilier (executive producer/series director, Camp Snoopy, WildBrain Studios), Adam Arsenault (director, WildBrain Studios), Paige Braddock (chief creative officer, Charles M. Schulz Creative Associates), Jason Cooper (senior writer, Charles M. Schulz Creative Associates), and Melissa Menta (senior vice president, marketing and communications, Peanuts Worldwide). Damian Holbrook (senior writer, TV Guide magazine) moderates. And finally, big “congrats” and a special shout-out for this Eisner nomination! In the category of best Comics-Related Book.
Charles M. Schulz: The Art and Life of the Peanuts Creator in 100 Objects, by Benjamin L. Clark and Nat Gertler (Schulz Museum)
Schulz Studio Editorial Director, Alexis Fajardo also contributed to this project. See you in San Diego!

Comic Con Museum
On Wednesday preview night of Comic-Con 2024, I was able to visit the Comic-Con Museum located in Balboa Park, San Diego, California. I was honestly astonished by what I saw. First and foremost, I loved the layout. The third level at the top featured amazing comic book artwork from artists all over the globe. It was beautifully set out, and you could spend a long time just admiring the beautiful…

Weekly Update 9/3/2023
I am thinking of either going to Wondercon or Emerald City Comic Con in 2025. As much as I love SDCC but the trip has gotten way to expensive and it takes me a while to save up for it. The other two will not be as bad even if I would have to fly up to Seattle for one of the cons. If I went to Wondercon I could take the train down to San Diego and visit some of the Museums down there as well including the Comic Con Musuem. I would be able to do a lot more and can find a lot cheaper transportation to Anaheim since I would not have to drive.

SDCC 2023- "BATMAN" EP MICHAEL USLAN TELLS THE TALE OF HOW HE GOT STAN LEE TO WRITE FOR DC COMICS
Hello, true believers! Excelsior! The Life and Legacy of Stan Lee is one of the big new exhibits at the Comic-Con Museum in San Diego. It features rare comic books, original art, and paintings exploring decades of Lee’s work and a section devoted entirely to Lee’s co-creators of the Marvel Universe, including Jack Kirby and Mike Ditko. But did you know that Stan Lee had a brief run as a writer…

Excitement - A Pedrotober Drabble
Day Nineteen of Pedrotober: SDCC Pedrotober Hosted by @norththelemon and @alyssamariag. View the full prompt list HERE and view my entire Pedrotober drabble catalog HERE.
Pairing: Mr. Ben x reader
Rating: After multiple days of writing content that makes me wonder if I should go to church more often, here's pure fluff with everyone's favorite science teacher.
Word Count: 504
a/n: This could have gone so many different ways. Literally, I have three separate stories for three separate characters, but ultimately it was just this short little snippet that kept drawing me back. That and I truly love this science teacher and never wish to part from him. I'd also like to state for the record that I love Marvel and I'm the excited one going into next year (although I’m sure Mr. Ben would be too).
"Babe, did you see?" Ben doesn't even bother knocking on the door as he pushes into your classroom, phone in hand and eyes wild. It's only seconds before he's thrusting his phone in your face, and you lean back so you can properly see the screen.
"Fantastic Four?"
There's something like disappointment written all over his face. "Yes, The Fantastic Four. Did you see the sizzle reel they just shared at SDCC?"
You blink, lips pursed in a fine line as you try your best not to smile at his excitement. It's one of the things you love most about him - the way he exudes enthusiasm when he's passionate about something. It was easy to see in the way he teaches his science classes, eager to share knowledge with the young minds in his classroom, but you're also fortunate to see it manifest in so many other ways. "Was I supposed to?"
Ben looks exasperated, grabbing a nearby chair and tugging it around your desk so he can sit next to you. He props his phone up against your coffee mug, the haphazard footage of the panel already queued up on the screen. Before he utters another word, he's hitting play.
You have to admit, the preview they've put together is fascinating, and it sparks the part of your brain that was alive with wonder when your Dad took you to the Air and Space Museum as a kid. There's something about the reel that feels alive in a way that most of the Marvel content you've suffered through for your boyfriend's benefit isn't, which is promising to say the least.
But what gives you the most enjoyment is seeing the look on his face.
He's nearly pulsating with energy, focus locked on the small screen like he's watching it for the first time, even though you're certain he watched it on repeat during the walk from his classroom to yours. "See?" he emphasizes, quickly rewinding the clip so it plays again like a kid in a candy store.
The music echoes from your desk as it repeats, and you watch it more intently this time, because you are excited, even if Marvel isn't necessarily your thing. Even if you really have no idea who The Fantastic Four are. Because he's excited, and that's truthfully all that matters.
Leaning into his space, you wrap an arm over his shoulder and press a kiss to his forehead. "I'm happy you're excited."
This finally seems to draw his attention back to you, and he pauses, taking you in for a moment. "I'm just happy to have you."
The comment is so sickeningly sweet that you barely know how to function, because you know how much he's been anticipating this. But his body is still nearly vibrating with adrenaline, and you know you've already lost him again. "You want to watch it again, don't you?"
Ben reaches over to hit replay with a wide grin. "I just need to make sure you see the way he's looking at the camera."

I think it’s really cute how people left offerings for Louis, Lestat and Claudia at the fake SDCC New Orleans thingy because that’s what people actually do in Nola with historical figures and supernatural beings. Like there are restaurants in New Orleans where they leave seats for ghosts. I do hope that in the show if they revisit the Rue Royale in modern day we see offerings at the door steps of the town house or it being turned into an actual museum for them which mirrors their actual relationship and how their legacy and companionship persists over generations.
Bonus points if they become like.. gay icons in Nola cause maybe people will spread the rumor that they were never vampires but people just called them that because they were a gay couple with a child.

I just wanted to say, since you and the other anon are talking about it, about that dreamstat scene in the museum, even Sam said during an interview (it might have been at sdcc) that he had no idea why Lestat was there in the first place and there was no explanation in the script or to him why he was reacting that way. If you look at how people reacted to the scene and how the majority online describe it, the take away is that Louis does not give a shit about Armand. I think that's what your other anon meant, the show missed an opportunity to have this one single scene be serious between just Louis and Armand, but by adding Lestat they handed people who already dislike both Louis and Armand more "evidence" for their interpretations, because I agree with you, that the scene does not mean Louis feels nothing about Armand's sex slavery, but the same people who go on about Louis' pimp persona, him lying about Lestat's abuse, and Armand lying all the time, use this scene to back up their opinions. I think it's clear that this really comes down to amc wanting Lestat in every episode despite this particular instance not needing him at all and it did the overall scene and dynamic between Louis and Armand a huge disservice in my eyes. And going back to your original post about that Armand/Marius take from reddit, there was an interview with Assad where he said that the two truest scenes for Armand, basically dropping any mask or pretense, was this one and the one with Madeleine and people who are desperately trying to make it into "Armand bad, always lying" thing are just braindead.
Yeah i wish there would've been less dreamstat because i think it slightly weakened the impact of some scenes and also of real Lestat coming back (could you imagine how more impactful that scene at the end of 2.6 would've been if it had been the first or almost first time we saw Lestat after s1). Like it didn't ruin anything for me personally and i still enjoyed those scenes he appears in but i can understand why it annoyed people especially when it sometimes distracted from other things happening in the scene. We know there was some sort of 'Lestat in every episode' mandate from the network but they presumably didn't specify what scenes he should be in so the writers themselves chose to include Lestat in that museum scene and thought it would add something to it. Of course YMMV did it work. And yes Assad saying that about the museum scene and the scene with Madeleine being Armand's most true moments was interesting! I can really see it in Assad's performance how those moments in different ways aren't performative for Armand and are a glimpse of him under the masks

I'll be at SDCC this year in Artist Alley HH-20 and doing signings for the San Diego Comic Con Art Museum and Dark Horse Comics and I will also have a limited selection of licensed prints available like this BATMAN piece I did for Detective Comics, and a limited selection of original art.
UPDATE: Due to circumstances beyond my control, I have canceled my appearance.

LEGO Fun Facts from Comic-Con
LEGO Masters returned to San Diego Comic-Con International (SDCC) in 2024, and I was there! Here are some fun LEGO facts I learned at "LEGO Masters: Back Behind the Brick":
LEGO Masters is now in production in 18 countries.
There's approximately 10 million bricks in the LEGO Masters Brick Pit.
Season 4 winner Christopher (unofficially) has the largest private LEGO set collection in the world.
I say "unofficially" because he is currently in the process of submitting the evidence to Guinness World Records, which requires him to take and submit a picture of every single set... and considering he has OVER 9,000, it is taking him a hot second to finish his application (the current record holder has 6,005 sets).
Christopher wants to turn his enormous collection into a LEGO history museum.
Evil Will wasn't in Season 4 because Villain Christopher defeated him and locked him in his LEGO room.
[this was Christopher's answer when a small child asked where Evil Will went during Q&A].
Go hit the bricks :)

Weekly Update 7/30/2023
Its been a week since I have been to SDCC and not really feeling the con blues like I use to feel. Will not be going next year unless I can find someone to go with to cut some of the hotel room cost down. Which was my biggest expense of the trip and what drained my con savings the quickest. I do have better view of what I will need to save for next time I do since I do have a accurate number instead of a guess on what things cost. I will be updating my con budget form I have so that I can get started on what I will need next time I go. Not that they may be anytime soon but it is better to be prepared.
I do want to go back down to San Diego and spend a day visiting more of the museums there then just the ones I visited. I do need a lighter camera then the one I do have along with a new camera strap if I take a trip down for the museums or comic con. I do want to go to the comic con museum again along with the Natural history museum where I am not feeling rushed like I did this last time. I will be bringing food with me since I will drive to the museums instead of take public transportation to get to Balboa park where they are all located. Which does make things easier for parking.
Hope everyone has a good Sunday! I need to do some cleaning/organizing so I can move my computer tomorrow to my new desk. Need to stop at Michaels today to see if they have any shadow boxes for pins and some art portfolios.
