another fun fact about my animatic of Scylla
originally there was a little segment after bandana guy (first guy to die) gets yanked off the ship. In the animatic he gets pulled by one of the eels and dies off screen, BUT, I used to have this idea that in this shot:
he would actually manage to hold on to this tall edge of the ship that Odysseus is right next to, only one hand struggling to keep himself into the ship as the eel behind him is trying to pull him away with it's mouth. The shot cuts and it's a close up of bandana guy's face, blood splatters all across him, as he looks up expecting Odysseus to help free him. Instead he sees this numb expression in Ody's face, kinda like he's disassociating throughout this whole thing.
so originally this shot of Odysseus looked like this:
from the pov of bandana guy right after he looses his grip and gets eaten alive.
I took this scene off because it was slowing down the action scene but I still kinda love it so thought I'd share it here

Ships I’ve seen on my FYP since I’ve started posting about Epic the Musical, also I’ve learned how to color text after 8 months of having Tumblr.
Canon:
Odysseus x Penlope
Eurylochus x ctimene
Telemachus x Nausicaa: I think that’s it
Calypso x Odysseus: put this because, kinda, and I don’t remember the context for the post just remember seeing
Circe X Odysseus
Ares X Aphrodite
Perimedes X Elpenor
Crack ships:
Odysseus x Poseidon x Zeus: this is completely my fault one of my friends told me about @anniflamma’s "manwhore au" and I though, "There's no way this is real," only now to be living the akira meme whenever pops up on my FYP
Antinious x Calypso: first saw this on @irunaki’s blog, but the supports do make a good argument for it. Quote, “they match each other’s freak.” Can’t argue with that
Diomedes x Odysseus: Idk how this started or who first subjected me to this, but I know why I’ve seen it. I made ONE, say it again ONE post with Diomedes and Odysseus hanging out as friends and the algorithm said, “you wanna see them kiss don’t you.” Either way pop off I guess and have fun DioXOdy fans out there.
Polites X Odysseus: once again kinda makes sense, or atleast I can see how this started, because the song cut song Your Light 100% gives of gay vibes
Hermes X Odysseus: I think I’ve see like one post regarding this, but still.
Artemis X Aeolus: Once again Don’t know who started this one but I remember first seeing this on @irunaki’s blog. Also, one of my favorite pieces of art comes from @sloanslone because it’s so cute.
Aeolus X Hermes: Don’t remember if this is an actual ship or not but it does have a ship name. Coming from another banger piece art by @sloanslone there relationship is called Cinnamon I believe
I feel like I’ve seen some with Apollo X someone, but don’t remember.
Siren X Athena: this Banger comes from @coquexari and I absolutely love this one. It’s just been presented in such a cute way that I love it. And the art she’s made for it is also really cute.
Circe X Calypso: Once again first saw this one on @irunaki’s blog, but I will say I haven’t seen it since the wisdom saga came out.
Eurylochus x Ares: by @thequeenofthedisneyverse
Eurylochus x Zeus
Eurylochus x random guy that gets eaten by Scylla: by @calciumyum
Aeolus X Apollo
Telemachus x antinious: It does exist, but I don’t remember where I’ve seen it
Diomedes x Odysseus x Penelope: Hi @wolfythewitch
Also I’ve seen Femboy Telemachus
Gotten Hades (game) ship art
Etc etc.

Frustrating things people are getting wrong in the new Thunder saga in Epic the musical (spoilers for Thunder saga):
- Odysseus did have Eurylochus holding a torch when they passed through Scylla’s lair. He completely intended to kill him. The reason he lived is because he gave away his torch after he saw the men getting eaten.
- Eurylochus has every right to be mad. Not just because Odysseus had just shown that his crew was now disposable to him, but also because Odysseus literally just tried to KILL HIM.
- On the other side for Odysseus this was by far the safest option. The danger motif didn’t play once during Scylla because Odysseus was never in danger.
- Would a starving crew that just found out their captain was okay with letting them die just to get home mutiny? I think so, especially if he’s about to murder the second-in-command. Screaming “I won’t let you stand in my way” doesn’t look real good for you Odysseus.
- A bunch of people are saying that the crew was stupid for having killed the cows. Eurylochus was the one that killed one, and he tells Odysseus “you know we’re never making it home right”. He was prepared to die, he just wanted to die in comfort. Odysseus freaking out and trying to save them was probably a surprise for him.
- Was Odysseus right to sacrifice his crew? Debatable. His crew would have easily sacrificed him for their own lives. Odysseus had a whole arc on how he was a monster now, and how his family had become his sole motivation. Considering everything, it made complete sense for his character. Especially after the mutiny, since he now had his crew as an obstacle rather than a group he was leading.
-I’ve seen some things about how Odysseus was stupid for listening to the words of a siren for directions. In the original, Circe is the one who gives him directions, and the reason Scylla is the only option is because the other side of the route holds Charybdis. If they had gone that route him and his entire crew would have died. Circe was also the one who told him about the six torches, but I think in this one he is implied to have come up with it himself.
-People calling him stupid for listening to the siren also need to know that in the original, only his crew put beeswax in their ears. Odysseus had his crew tie him to the mast and then they basically watched him go crazy and try and get out of the ropes and into the water until they passed the sirens. Odysseus has always been this way, this is obviously why Athena chose him.

I keep seeing people call Eurylochus a hypocrite, and while I kinda agree, I also kinda disagree. Hear me out.
So, people's main thing with Eury is that he gets mad at Odysseus for sacrificing six men to Scylla, but he doomed all of the crew by opening the wind bag, and wanted to abandon 22 men-turned-pigs on Circe's island. (For anyone wondering where I'm getting that number, it's from The Odyssey).
But these events aren't really the same, or comparable. Let's take them one by one. (This is gonna be a long one, so I'll cut the post here for the sake of your timelines)
The wind bag. I fully understand why people are pissed at Eurylochus for doing this, and I am too. But you have to remember that he did not do this out of malicious intent. He did not know this would end in the eventual deaths of the entire crew. Even though Eurylochus was warned about the storm being inside the bag, none of them knew it would take them right to the Laestrygonians. He had no idea Poseidon was pissed off at Odysseus for blinding Polyphemus. It was a stupid decision, certainly, but the following events were not intentional on his part.
Circe's island. Eurylochus had no reason to believe there was any way of rescuing those 22 men. Circe's a goddess/witch. What the fuck are two human dudes gonna do about that? Odysseus didn't even know what he was going to do. He would not have had any solution if not for Hermes, which is not something Eurylochus could've predicted. It's pretty reasonable for him to think that those men were a lost cause.
Scylla. So far, all of the deaths have been "accidental:" 14 from Polyphemus, 543 from Poseidon/Laestrygonians, and 1 from Circe (RIP Elpenor). I am not attributing the 543 deaths to Eurylochus for the reasons detailed above. No one knew these deaths would happen. They were all sudden/unexpected. Let's take these next sixth deaths moment-by-moment:
Odysseus redirects the ship, using directions that no one else knew (Odysseus was reading the siren's lips, but everyone else was too busy catching the other sirens, and all of them had beeswax in their ears). Odysseus tells Eurylochus to light six torches.
One by one, Eurylochus watches every man that he handed a torch get brutally eaten. He himself is almost eaten, but he passes his torch off to someone else before he notices the correlation. He only realizes what's happening as the sixth man is about to die, and Eurylochus is too late to save him.
Odysseus won't even gaze at the blood left behind. But it's all Eurylochus can look at.
These deaths were planned. Odysseus knew what he was bringing his men into, and not only did he keep it from them, he sacrificed his men that didn't even know what was happening. And Eurylochus likely feels part of the blame, having been the one to light the torches, even if he didn't know the consequences of it.
Eurylochus has a right to be upset, to be angry. These are the first deaths that could have been prevented, because Odysseus could've simply not taken his men through Scylla's territory. But that's the only way to get home. Odysseus sees it as a necessary sacrifice, but Eurylochus sees it as needless. Because at this point, Eurylochus has given up hope that they'll ever get home. What is the point of sacrificing these men for a goal we will never achieve?
This is not a situation where one person is at fault. Odysseus and Eurylochus are both to blame. Like Scylla says, "There is no price we won't pay." Odysseus himself says, "You know you'd have done the same." People do stupid, dangerous, bad shit to survive. Odysseus sacrifices his men. Eurylochus still wants to live, he just doesn't see the point in trying to return to Ithaca. That's why he kills Helios's cattle. He is starving and he wants to live, even though he knows the consequences.
The whole point of all this is that people will do awful and/or stupid things to survive. Not just Odysseus.

"Oh the crew should have been more understanding with Odysseus-" NUH UH MY CAPTAIN HAD A FIGHT WITH THE GODDESS OF WISDOM WHO WAS THE MAIN REASON WHY WE ARE NOT DEAD YET, DOXED HIMSELF TO POLYPHEMUS BECAUSE OF HIS PRIDE (IGNORING THAT HE IS THE SON OF POSEIDON, WHO WILL DOX HIS NAME AND ADDRESS TO CYCLOPS?!), SHUT EVERYONE WHO DISAGREES WITH HIM EVEN A LITTLE BIT, DIDN’T APOLOGIZE TO GOD WHO SINKED 12 OF OUR SHIPS, SACRIFICED SIX OF OUR PEOPLE (SCYLLA WOULD HAVE EATEN SIX PEOPLE ANYWAY, HE JUST WANTED TO MAKE SURE HE WOULDN’T BE ONE OF THE SIX), AND THE WHOLE TRIP BEHAVIORS AS IF HE IS THE ONLY ONE WITH A WIFE AND CHILD ON BOARD. I AM ALSO JUST A MAN, I ALSO WANT TO RETURN HOME. I WOULD TRADE THE WORLD TO SEE MY SON AND WIFE TOO. SO I'M NOT GOING TO TAKE THIS SHIT ANYMORE, ODY
"Oh but why do they then trust Eurylochus if he also wanted to sacrifice people-" BECAUSE EURYLOCHUS DIDN'T KNOW THAT HERMES WOULD HELP THEM. BECAUSE THOSE PEOPLE WERE TURNED INTO PIGS AND EURYLOCHUS, GUESS WHAT, CAN'T TURN PIGS BACK INTO PEOPLE? BECAUSE EURYLOCHUS, UNLIKE ODYSSEUS, TRIED TO SAVE HIS MEN FROM SCYLLA? BECAUSE EURYLOCHUS CONSIDER THEIR OPINION AT LEAST A LITTLE? BECAUSE HE OPENED THE BAG FOR THEM AND TOOK THE GUILT ON HIMSELF? BECAUSE EURYLOCHUS KILLED THOSE COWS IN THE FIRST PLACE TO FEED THEM?
But of course, it’s easy to forgive “just a man” for throwing a child from a roof, and other “just a men” cannot be forgiven for wanting to be treated like people and not like extras who should help Odysseus return home
I don't hate Odysseus, I love him very much and am quite imbued with his tragic story, AND I know that half the blame also lies with Eurylochus and the crew, BUT LET'S NOT FORGET THAT HE'S NOT THE ONLY PERSON HERE WHO JUST WANTS TO GO TO THE FUCKING HOME

“deep down you hide a reason for shame”
Eurylochus shameful that he’s the one who opened the bag while Odysseus was asleep. Odysseus hiding the fact he knew what would happen in Scylla’s lair.
“deep down you know that we are the same”
Eurylochus wanting to escape Circe’s island with Odysseus and leave the rest of the crew behind, letting them die by being eaten as pigs. Odysseus leading six men to their deaths by intentionally handing out six torches. Scylla has six heads
“leaving them feeling betrayed, breaking the bonds that you’ve made”
Eurylochus betraying Odysseus as a second in command (and friend) by openly doubting him and opening the bag when expressly told not. Odysseus breaking Eurylochus’s trust as a captain by leading his crew to the lair and sacrificing six men, six friends, one of them being Eurylochus (until another member of the crew pushes him out of the way and sacrifices themself)
“there is no price we won’t pay”
Odysseus pays the price of Eurylochus choosing to mutinize (and kill the cow) in an attempt to save himself and the crew (the latter although reckless and basically an unintentional death sentence being done so they all wouldn’t starve). Eurylochus (and the crew) pays the price of Odysseus choosing to save himself when Zeus arrives.
“we both know what it takes to survive”
Interestingly, during the mutiny Eurylochus and the crew chose not to kill Odysseus (at least not in the moment) and even bandaged his wounds that they inflicted while he was unconscious to prevent him from bleeding out. In that moment, they chose to show mercy. However, there is no mercy on Odysseus’s end when Zeus tells him to make a choice. There is only ruthlessness done out of desperation, as the only person Odysseus chooses to show mercy to is himself.
Both know exactly what it takes to survive, as Odysseus voice shakes with despair knowing what he’s about to do while Eurylochus, soundly sadly resigned, accepts his fate. There is a brother’s final stand coming to its end and both know it. And they know only one of them will make it out alive

Imagine being on the ship with Odysseus, Eurylochus and the crew. Part 2
Part 1 , Part 3
• After we left Troy, we were in so much joy because we can finally go home.
• Someone found out they were good at cutting hair and they became our official barber.
• The people who knew how to draw would teach the others who doesn't know how. It was nice, some of the crew would draw their wife, kids or family.
• When the bag of wind/storm got opened, some of us almost flew away from how strong it was.
• When Poseidon attacked, the people inside the ship were in for a rollercoaster ride. They lived though so, win win.
• Some people would keep animals like birds or fish as a pet, but they only last for 2 days or so. It's either they get eaten by something else or one of the crew members...
• Drawing or mentioning food was forbidden one time. Totally not because of Eurylochus. It was the hunger crisis.
• Someone kept a weird bird as a pet one time.
• Eurylochus killed it 4 days later. He's excuse was "Bird = food and friend". Let's not mention Cows...
• The prank that we never do is hide or take Eurylochus's food... Except Captain. They say Eurylochus is a foodie...
• Someone almost went mad after we left the underworld, it was probably the screams that ruined them.
• Captain was never the same after we left the underworld...
• When we found the abandoned ship and suspected that sirens was near. Someone tried to loot the abandoned ship and got a bunch of hats, we were disappointed.
• Grilled siren tails- WHATT what who said that no one heard that right. No comment.
• When we got bored and remembered the hats we got, we did a hat fashion show?, that's what one of the crew called it.
• Eurylochus and Captain participated too.
• Eurylochus was not so happy because the hat he chose to wear was too small for his head...
• After the encounters with the sirens, we never really saw them anymore, not at least, near us. Some would watch from afar and swim away when they get noticed.
• Scylla gave all of us nightmares but that doesn't keep away the fact that Captain sacrificed 6 of our friends...
• Eurylochus was right, we knew we were never gonna get home. But, there was a time while we were at the ship trying to run away from something after Eurylochus killed the cow, we wondered if, that never happened. Would we have the chance to get home? Will we ever see our family once more? Our wife, children, mother, father, siblings or even friends?
• Unlike Odysseus, we never got the chance to get home. Polites, Eurylochus, the crew and the other people on the multiple different ships never manage to get home...
Sorry for the mistakes if there is one, Should i make a Part 3??

The thing is, the tale about what Odysseus went through in those ten years literally begins with
Wily Odysseus, the lord of lies, answered
(Wilson, book 9, line 1)
By which I'm not saying everything he said was a lie. We have a 3rd person account of Calypso, and what Odysseus told the Phaeacians about her was... a version of the truth. But he drastically downplayed what he went through on Ogygia, so it seems likely that he did that with other parts of the story, as well - not to make himself look better, but because he wasn't ready to talk about it.
Odyssey!Odysseus admits to having made mistakes; he failed his crew as much as they failed him. And that remains true in EPIC, except the betrayal is worse on both sides.
Suppose EPIC!Odysseus ends up on Kerkyra, as well. Would he tell the Phaeacians everything? Or would he lie about some of the more painful bits?
Like making sure others would be eaten by Scylla, Eurylochus attacking him, Perimedes stabbing him, watching helplessly while Eurylochus kills the cows, and Zeus giving him another impossible choice just because he likes screwing with mortals (literally and figuratively).
EPIC!Odysseus genuinely cares about his men, you can hear it in his voice when he talks about the cost of Scylla, in his silence as they enter her lair, in his pleading in Mutiny, in the way his voice breaks in Thunder Bringer. These things will eat at him. Of course he isn't going to tell a bunch of strangers about it. Instead he might say he was asleep when his men killed the cows, and he happened to be the sole survivor when the ship went down.
So even though EPIC isn't accurate to what Odyssey!Odysseus said happened, I feel that Jay's version is very much true to the spirit of the Odyssey.

Follow up to my last post, we know Hort was sacrificed by Odysseus, therefore he is either one of the six that was eaten by Scylla or killed by Zeus, either way, he deserved better.
Also I'd like to believe that he was the awesome kind of uncle which is why Hephaestus is so mad at Odysseus for his death

I totally missed this the first time but in the scylla animatic eurylochus was one of the six holding a torch and then amidst the scylla attack he gave it to someone else and that man was immediately eaten. And that torch on the ground clued him in on the deal with the torches. His survivor's guilt is so real.

The Thunder Saga's been released, and the entire crew is dead!
Figured I could make an updated post, so here's my new death count of Odysseus' crew in EPIC: The Musical
Deaths: Survivors (barring Ody): Explanation:
0 - 600 - Post Troy: Odysseus starts with 600 men in 12 ships, 50 men per ship.
14 - 586 - The Cave of the Cyclops: The scouting party starts with Odysseus, Polites, Eurylochus, and 26 other men. Polites and 13 men are smashed by Polyphemus' club. (2 hits for Polites, and each of the 13 club sound effects after that is 1 man dead. This was confirmed by Jorge in the livestream and on discord.)
543 - 43 - Laestrygonia: 11 ships are sunk by Poseidon's tsunamis and the Laestrygonians' boulders; 543 men drown. There's now only "43 left under your command" on Odysseus' own ship.
1 - 42 - Aeaea (Circe’s island): 1 man dies, Elpenor, only because he gets drunk and falls off her roof.
0 - 42 - The Underworld: The ghosts say "558 men who died under your command" confirming that 42 of the original crew are left.
6 - 36 - The Lair of Scylla: Odysseus tells Eurylochus to light 6 torches. The 6 men holding them are targeted and eaten, 1 man for each of Scylla's 6 heads. (Eurylochus was also holding a torch, but he happened to give it to a man that fell over who he helped up, which is why Eury survives.)
36 - 0 - The sea near Thrinacia: Zeus gives Odysseus the choice of who will be punished for Eurylochus killing a cattle of the Sun God. Odysseus chooses Eurylochus and the crew; Zeus strikes them all down with a lightning bolt.

The Tragedy of True Love - Do you blame yourself?
youtube
TW: Mentions of blood, graphic imagery, broken hearts, and death (y'know, the obvious)
"Eurylochus"
Eurylochus gasped and shot up. He looked around didn't know where the hell he was, the time, whether it was day or night...everything just felt so terribly terribly wrong! He stood in a dark...void? It was darker than dark it felt. So cold. So numb.
But there was something or someone sitting in front of him. He could make out a person by the looks of it. He squinted his eyes to get a better look, but it was too dark to even attempt.
"Do you blame yourself?" the figure said. An odd, distorted voice came out of it's mouth...why did it sound familiar?
"What?"
"Well...it's quite common for someone in your situation to feel a kind of guilt"
"What situation?"
Not even a millisecond after he asked the question, he got a flash of all the events leading up to the point of Scylla. He handed a torch to a man named Evander, the man he married at nineteen.
The wedding was so joyous and wonderful. A full night of laughter, games, and a bond between two- well, three souls if you count Ctimene.
Ctimene fell in love with Eurylochus but only saw Evander as her best friend, her "bestie" even. She and Evander grew up together with Eurylochus and fell in love with him around the same time.
Things were so peaceful before both men left for war. Hell, even during the first ten years of they watched each other's backs and comforted the other when the time came for it.
Eury could remember the warmth of his skin when they hugged. When he kissed his forehead, lips, or cheeks...that would never happen again.
"The accident"
It was dark all around them and quiet in that cave. Until it wasn't.
All he heard was screams, so many screams of men getting eaten by a six headed creature. Scylla was it?
By the fourth man to die, Eury figured the beasts went for the men holding the torches.
His husband, Evander, was one of them. Oh, he can remember it so vividly now. He was only eight feet away from Eurylochus at best, standing in fear and shock.
He didn't know where to go or run, he was scared. Evander made eye contact with Eurylochus as he called out to him. Eury ran toward him-
"Evander...EVANDER DROP THE TORCH-"
But before Evvy could move...the dark sickening beast latched its mouth onto his entire body. One big bite full of blood as it snatched his body into the with it.
The only thing left of Evander was his sandal. That damned thing would leap off his foot every chance it got. Whether he was walking, running, or merely swinging his feet.
It had the remained of his blood on it...he's been clutching that sandal ever sense that moment. And ever sense that moment, Eury's brain has been in decline.
The memory ended and the figure standing in front of him was...Evander. But this Evander looked...dead.
His skin was so dull and lifeless, as was his eyes, glossed over, yet they were filled with so much rage and...the feeling of betrayal?!
His dreads, usually tied back, just fell over his face but every feature he had was visible. The clothes he wore were torn, wet, and bloodstained. His blood of course.
But the only thing he didn't have was the sandal that belonged to his left foot.
"You...killed me"
"W- what?"
Eurylochus took a step back out of shock. A twinge of pain in his heart...that certainly couldn't have been true.
"Why did you do it...you loved me didn't you?!" Red tears fell down the dead man's cheeks as he stared at Eurylochus. His fists balling and his tone getting louder.
"No...I didn't...I didn't-"
"You didn't love me?!"
"No...yes...I DO LOVE YOU...I didn't kill you...I didn't kill you I swear! It...It was Odysseus-" Eurylochus sounded more like he tried to convince himself than the man in front of him.
"You handed me the torch...the torch that caused me to die from a beast I could barely see!" His voice got louder and louder and more painful to Eurylochus' ear drums. Emotionally and physically. It caused the man to cover his ears.
"No...I would never-"
"WHY DID YOU KILL ME!?" The figured jumped on him and had his cold hands wrapped around Eurylochus' throat. It was tight. Too tight.
Tight to the point where Eurylochus could feel the burn in his lungs. It didn't help that he was already sobbing. Eury knew it was partially true. He, even though indirectly, killed his own husband.
"I...I didn't.." Is all he could choke out. And still, he wasn't sure who he was trying to convince.
"Yes you did...and I WILL FOREVER HATE YOU! EVEN IN THE AFTERLIFE I WILL CURSE YOU UNTIL YOUR DYING BREATH! DO YOU HEAR ME?! FOREVER!!!"
The man he loved disfigured into the horrid beast the killed him and bit down on Eurylochus.
That's when Eury snapped awake and looked around. He was still on that god forsaken ship with the few men that were left. Blood still stained the ship.
Eurylochus was used to the smell of blood. He was in a ten-year war for Zeus sake. Blood in and of itself would never bother him. But when he looked down.
He was sitting right in front of the spot his husband took his last breath. How did he know? That was the exact spot the sandal sat after it fell off of him when his body was lifted in the creature's mouth and into the water.
The blood of his husband sat there as well, some splotches here and there, but Eurylochus knew it was his. He saw the blood splatter out of his body and drip out of the beast's mouth.
THAT is what made Eurylochus sick. THAT is what made Eurylochus gag. Thankfully he hasn't eaten in a while or vomit would've been added to the mix.
Suddenly, the smell started to bother him, severely so. He had to get away from it. Away from ALL of this.
When he stood his legs felt like jelly, consequently causing him to fall back to the ground. His hand placed in the puddle of Evvy's wet liquid remains.
Eurylochus jumped up and looked at his hand...he panicked. He wanted it off! OFF OFF OFF!!
He wiped it on his toga and realized that he just permanently stained himself with it. His heartbeat was going too fast. But he couldn't care. The scene of his husband dying replayed over and over again in his mind.
"Stop it...STOP IT! STOP IT! STOP IT! STOP IT! STOP IT! STOP IT! STOP IT!" He clutched his head as tears ran down his cheeks as he sobbed.
Odysseus, at the head of the ship, looked behind him. He saw his brother in so much pain and turmoil. But what the hell could he even say or do to make it stop?
It had just been four hours since what happened. Four hours since the bloodshed. Four hours since 36 men have become even more clinically mad than they already were.
The blood had dried since then, but the damage had already been done.
He could tell no one was of sound mind, which was a good thing. No one was going to question what he did, especially Eurylochus. Who would question or voice his opinion on things frequently.
If the voice of the crew, Eurylochus, was mentally out of commission then things should be easier.
As the days passed, things were mostly silent...well, save for the sobs and constant night terrors ALL of the men had. Eurylochus sat in the corner of the ship. He didn't speak, he didn't move, he noticed nothing around him.
He only cried and clutched the sandal to his chest, his heart to be more specific. When he fell silent, he was still crying, he was just too hoarse to make sound.
Some tried to comfort him, but their words would fall on deaf ears. He heard nothing. He didn't want to hear anything. No...he did want- NEED to hear something and that was his husbands voice.
But when he did it was only ever a nightmare of some sort...nothing ever happy.
Eurylochus would forever blame himself...for years to come.

The lair of Scylla

Epic inspired au anyone??? 🍽 once again I've drawn Ray ( @anartsydoge 's oc ) because I love him and he is so gay for fae (the big eye ball currently)
Lore below cut
Tbh i just got so inspired by the song scylla from the epic musical I created a whole little story in my head about a prisoner on a ship who was one of the sacrifices falling in love with scylla after locking eyes with them while they were assessing the sacrifices. There is a moment of hesitation for both of them a spark if you will because he wasn't violent and he wasn't running, which piqued fae's interest. Unfortunately this moment is cut ahort by one of the other sacrifices attaking them. Sending them into a rage as they devour those around him. Ray escapes being eaten and washes ashore on faes island. The next morning he wakes up finding fae badly injured from the fight and tries to help. It starts out selfishly where he decides if he helps them heal and takes care of them then perhaps they will spare him and take him to a populated island so he can get home. Since currently he is marooned there with no ship and no way to leave. Fae is extremely reluctant hisses at him and the beginning starts so very rocky. Over time however they begin to grow closer bonding over their similarplight, how the world has outlasted them. Both of them having been a prisoner to circumstances that have led them to corruption and ultimately to this moment. THEN THEY CALL IN LOVE AND HEAL TOGETHER OR SOMETHING GAY IDK.

Thunder Saga Recap
For those that were not present for the livestream, it can get confusing as to what the hell is happening during the songs, since there is no visual aid (until the rest of the animatics from the livestream are posted, that is).
Some of this is based on the animatics, seeing as the artists were following Jay's lead on character design and whatnot. Other parts are based on the descriptions that were shown alongside the lyrics (these are the parts I write in quotes + italics). The timestamps aren't exact, but the chronology of events is the same.
<< SPOILERS BEYOND THIS POINT >>
SUFFERING
I'm unsure whether or not Odysseus is tied to the ship's mast during this scene, but I would assume he is (based on the actual part with the sirens in The Odyssey).
01:52 – When Odysseus says, "But Scylla has a price," he is referring to the fact that Scylla will eat six men from whatever ship passes by her. She only has six heads, so she only eats one man per head.
DIFFERENT BEAST
00:00 – Fake Penelope gets shot (with an arrow, I think).
00:22 – Fake Penelope hisses.
00:57 – "The crew reveals packs of sirens caught in nets hanging over the ship."
02:59 – "The crew cuts off the tails of the sirens. They toss them back into the water, turning the water red with blood."
SCYLLA
*I don't have exact timestamps for this one, because the events here are almost entirely based on the animatic that played during the livestream. I kind of guessed at some points but as I said before, the important stuff is in order.
01:17 – Odysseus tells Eurylochus to light six torches. Odysseus knows that Scylla will kill six men, and plans to essentially serve six of his men to her on a silver platter by making them stand out.
01:27 – Eurylochus has lit the torches (at least mostly). Eurylochus himself is holding one of these torches.
01:55 – Scylla starts picking off the six men, brutally killing and eating them.
02:00 – One man down.
02:04 – Two.
02:12 – Three.
02:19 – Eurylochus is pushed out of the way of one of Scylla's heads. He drops his torch. A different man is eaten. Four.
02:23 – Five.
02:32 – Eurylochus realizes that Scylla is going after the men with the torches. He sees one of his crewmates on the other side of the ship, holding a torch as one of Scylla's heads prepares to feast. Eurylochus runs, reaches out, tries to warn him— but he fails. Six.
MUTINY
00:00 – "The ship is covered in blood and gore."
00:08 – "Eurylochus looks around at the gore. But Odysseus looks on."
01:13 – Boss Battle: Eurylochus.
01:29 – Eurylochus swings at Odysseus. The two begin to fight.
01:35 – Odysseus starts winning the fight, getting a few minor hits on Eurylochus before knocking him down.
01:45 – Just as Odysseus is about to deal the final blow, he is stabbed from behind (the wound is in his side).
02:10 – Odysseus is knocked out.
02:15 – Odysseus wakes up on the island of Thrinacia. He is tied up, and his wound is bandaged. They are in a pasture full of cows.
02:39 – Eurylochus points out a statue. He recognizes that it is depicting the god of the sun, but he doesn't recognize it as Apollo (who is the more modern god of the sun, that the crew knows and has worshipped in the past).
03:13 – Although Odysseus has not been specifically warned about the cattle (like in The Odyssey), he knows that these cattle belong to the sun god depicted by that statue. He knows that killing these cattle will not end well.
04:02 – Eurylochus slaughters one of the cows.
04:18 – Odysseus manages to untie himself. He urges his men to get to the boat and get away.
04:43 – Odysseus hears the thunder. He knows it's too late.
THUNDER BRINGER
02:33 – Odysseus has a vision (or hallucination, IDK) of Penelope. The animatic shows her descending from the sky like an angel.
03:15 – Zeus strikes down Odysseus's men.
03:42 – Zeus strikes down Odysseus's ship. Odysseus falls into the sea, surrounded by the bodies of his brothers.
Aaaand that's it for The Thunder Saga! I don't want to spoil anything for the next saga in case people aren't familiar with the original story, so I'll leave it there. If you have any additions or corrections, please let me know!
