Inscryptober: week 2, Elements.
The scrybes of limbo.
Halfway between an element swap, this cycle of scrybes carry traits of two elements within them, while also becoming something completely new.
A little looser with the prompt again, but I like how they turned out, even if it don’t count.
Individual renders, ideas, and possible gameplay below the cut
Leshy, Scrybe of Monstrosities
(Between beasts and undead)
The most brusque and solitary of the scrybes, Leshy resides in the untamed, twisted, wilds of his island. Instead of a temple, he merely has his scavenging grounds, not even the disciples who have devoted themselves to him ever know where he is. Your best bet is to find a dead carcass, watch if something starts eating it, and look for the glint of his inscrybing lens in between the trees and brush. If you’re lucky, the troll might come out to feast himself.
His cards are all kinds of scavengers; whether more natural, or more cryptic, sometimes humanoid, creatures. His card’s Flesh costs give them an almost built-in corpse eater; being playable when a certain amount of creatures have died between rings of the bell. His side deck is comprised of mangled corpses: 0/2, decomposing (deal 1 damage to itself each bell ring).
Grimora, Scrybe of the Abandoned
(Between undead and technology)
All the Scrybes are old, but Grimora is the only one who sees that as being for a reason. She has taken it upon herself to curate history, preserving what others deem “obsolete”, and “worthless” within her museum-like home. She uses a cassette tape recorder to hear an object’s voice and inscrybe it into a card. She knows all the objects within her custody as old friends, and her and her attendants do not take kindly to those who disrespect them. She has recorded far too many that hold hate in their soul from past owners.
As previously stated, her cards are all abandoned old objects; with a card’s value coming from its emotional attachment rather than its physical strength. All her cards cost neglect, the amount of turns that a lane has not had any cards played in it. Her side deck is comprised of dust, 0/1 cards with undisturbed (instead of resetting the neglect a lane has, instead adds 1 to it.)
P03, Scrybe of Constructs
(Between technology and magicks)
P03 is the most showboating Scrybe of the 4. He’s constantly at work in his foundry trying to make the most broken combos and the biggest chain reactions “legally” possible. This, coupled with both his smugness at winning and his anger at losing, makes the other Scrybes avoid contact with him at all costs (some say he’s the reason Leshy is so reclusive), usually pushing his deck testing onto his own foundry workers. They see it as an honor, being able to aid him beyond their normal duties; sadly, they couldn’t beat a deck of pure rabbit pelts. This makes it that when he actually faces off against a worthy opponent, he gets beaten miserably, causing him to go back to his foundry and come up with a whole new elaborate strategy, and starting the cycle anew.
P03’s card subjects are, at first glance, sculptural. They are mostly made of carved, bent, or otherwise artisan materials, they range wildly in shape and abstraction, and often seem so badly constructed that, should they move, they would fumble around like a 1-legged mole. That is how they are in the first few steps of the foundry. When they eventually come to P03 to be finally made into a card, he imbues them with some of the energy from his own body; breaking them apart, filling in gaps, and allowing for them to become powerful cards when that energy is taken back and inscrybed. His cards start out pretty useless, but have a leveling mechanic that allows them to activate and grown into more powerful for forms when beside his side deck cards, imbuers (0/1, channeler, levels up the card next to them at the start of each turn)
Magnificus, Scrybe of demons
(Between magicks and beasts)
When you Approach or have a conversation with Magnificus, you can know that he’s devoting his mind to 3 things: 1. The social interaction at hand 2. How you may play at cards, and how he can beat you and 3. How you could be best used to further his plans. Magnificus has the most ambition of any Scrybe, not only being aware of the world beyond his, but always finding ways to affect it. This isn’t to say he is a being of pure manipulation, for once you get closer to him, he will work with you and slowly start trusting you with more both him and his plans. The closest to him are his students, who know more than anyone else, and far more than they should. His best tool is using cards to gleam knowledge of a person, as it is your best tool to know what’s under his brooding exterior.
Magnificus’ s cards are all demonic entities, taking offerings (attributed sacrifices) to be played. Magnificus inscrybes them in deals, with a card forming and being painted by Magnificus whenever he bargains with one for knowledge, power, health, or anything more. His side deck is full of offerings (0/1, ___ offering) for his demonic allies, with side deck cards playing around with factors such as card per deck limitations to diversify offering value. This also works with people, with deals made between the master and his apprentices being prized components in Magnificus’s main deck.
#later again#but still#in the weekend#it counts#I just like the funny card-people#art#inscryption#fanart#inscryption au#card game art#card game design#inscryptober#i wanna see more of these guys#but that’s just me

Propaganda under the cut.
Grimora:
girl is one of the kindest characters in the game and the least openly malicious of the scrybes and yet she is the one who deletes the game, killing everyone INCLUDING herself because she thinks it's for the greater good
Anthy Himemiya:
Anthy is an abuse victim who has been trapped in a cycle of violence, with which she copes by helping to perpetuate the rules on which this cycle runs- and dragging down anyone who gets too close down with her. She has access to many magival powers which she discreetly wields against those who she has a grudge against- all with a demure smile on her face. Her narrative is about escaping the cycle by challenging the ideas she has internalized through the transformative power of sapphic love and survivors' solidarity, and finally gaining the strength to walk away from her abuser, and the cycle of self destruction. With a few #girlboss stabs, betrayals, manipulation, poisonings, etc. moments on the way, of course. She's a fascinating character because almost all the time she's onscreen, she's under some sort of emotional facade. She is nearly impossible to completely understand, and that is what makes her such a compelling character, and a morally ambiguous girlboss ;)

I was the sadistic po3 ask and you are so right. I honestly hadn't thought about it for very long its the vibe he gives off initially but the more I think on it the more I realize hes the type to fall little by little and then all at once. The type to call you an idiot and give you advice in the same statement, to notice immediately when you change your hair style or a new shirt. The moment he realizes hes the type to do the oh. oh. oh no. Like thats his vibe. hes a dick but a loving one.
Okay FIRST OF ALL anon that post is almost two years old at this point so. Welcome back. I'm sorry I was so harsh to your Sadistic Yandere P03 concept.
SECOND P03 acts of service Tsundere type is so funny I love that for him. He will deny he did that for you, or if he accepts it he expects gratitude of the highest caliber.
This doesn't feel very Yandere to me though this is very base P03 affection to me. But that's because to me P03 is the least Yandere out of the Scrybes.. and I think that's why the polycule broke up before you arrived??
He was the object of their obsessions, and it was smothering and toxic and terrifying. He hated it, he was scared, he was cadged, he could never do anything on his own or go anywhere without checking in on someone. He never had his own space, never had control...
Yandere P03 would then push that cycle of abuse onto you, take control from you, not forcefully, but just a little bit at a time. Manipulate your space slowly so you have fewer and fewer options on where to go, like shortening a leash on a dog. It takes time. It takes routine.
This though, the acts of service and catering to your comfort, is Post Recovery P03. A P03 who's had time, a LOT of time, to himself, to his space, and found loneliness. He wants you to want to come back, because deep down he needs you, but doesn't want to admit that, because to him it's wrong to need someone. It hits too close to home, make him feel too much like the other scrybes.
He'll give you reasons to want to come back, and it'll remind him of how Grimora would always lend him things so he'd have reason to return. How she'd gift him everything he'd wanted so he'd come back, how she'd loose several matches in a row, and only win the one he'd said was his last game, so he'd stay and challenge her to a rematch
He'll follow on your heel as you wander around his factory because it's dangerous and maze like, and it'll remind him of the feeling of being followed, of being watched, by Magnificus everywhere he went. The suffocating feeling of never being anywhere alone, of eyes that saw his every possible future always on him. He'll deny his affections to you and remind himself of Magnificus doing the same when he'd stumbled into a room covered wall to wall in paintings of himself, in situations he knew Magnificus was not with him
He'll spend time tailoring his game to your play style, making sure cards you like are more plentiful, making sure the puzzles are engaging and challenging, and he'll remind himself of Leshy, the worst of them all, and that cabin full of intrigue. Of story and hard fights and difficult puzzles and nights of "Just one more round" turned three and four. When he floats just above you to feel superior he'll be reminded of the wall that use to be a door that he'd pressed himself against Leshy towered above him, a man who'd say one thing and feel another, who'd played the hero over and over in their games, and revealed himself the villain when P03 attempted to leave
He doesn't want to need you in the same way the other Scrybes had needed him
#Emile's Writing#Ask to tag#P03 X Reader#PO3 X Reader#Yandere#Mentioned anyway and discussed but not really the main point I guess#Well I mean kind of actually#Inscryption X Reader#GN!reader#Post Yandere Polycule P03 is probably my favorite way to write him#He was the object of their affection and he got away but not unscathed#Mags can be really fucked up if you really sit on his concepts for long enough#God. GOD.#TWO YEARS.#It's been two years huh I haven't touched much Inscryption X Reader sense then#You caught me on a Yandere kick again anon#I don't know where you've been for 2 years but glad to see you#Sorry I shut down you Sadistic Yandere idea so quick I was not jiving with it back then#And idk I have a VERY specific take on P03#He just got out of a very toxic relationship give him some space#He needs you he doesn't want to need you but he needs you#He just needs some time to learn that it's okay to need someone...

So a while ago I thought to myself “what would happen if Inscryption didn’t stop after the end of of act 3?” And from that I came up with a weird amount of ideas for how that would go down, specifically with a type of isekai protag? And buckle in because I’m about to say so much nonsense.
Like, what if someone bought a version of inscryption, played it a couple times, was a fan and then suddenly the Lucky Carder just disappears in one of the run throughs? You wouldn’t hear his commentary, wouldn’t see the videos randomly popping up, and some of the ARG parts of the game that are related to him would be blank. Some small bits of dialogue in the first two acts would be changed to reflect that the player is literally the player, but like nothing super off would happen until act 3 when P03 would start to talk directly to the player.
Act 3 would technically play normally, until you get to the part where Grimora WOULD delete the game, but she doesn’t. And all you can do is press the new game button. A lot of this little thing (would you call it an AU?) revolves around this new game, and how it pushes the player into the game world. Cause like the game is NOT supposed to go that long, what else is it gonna do? Run into an error? Nah, pull the player in reverse poltergeist style.
The world of the game forces itself into 3D to adapt to the new thing inside it, and that starts producing errors. The scrybes are all conflicted on how they want to deal with this; Grimora and P03 opting to keep the player inside it, Grimora cause she wouldn’t be opposed to the game ending and P03 because he would rather live in endless torment than be turned into a card or be decapitated again. Leshy and Magnificus want the player to finish the game to keep the world alive, essentially. If the weird glitch goes away, then the cycle can continue.
But honestly that’s all I got jfjfjfj If anyone would want to do something with this go ahead, by all means, but this was in my head for too damn long for me not to write it out.

More about my Inscryption oc Mange under the cut :3c
They are the embodiment of life, the cycle of life, and vitality.
They are the personified representation of things dying to make way for newer things.
And they also could give less shits
Being a jackalope, they are a trickster but they really don't care more than that. they're here to have fun and fuck around
think of them kinda like. the hobo from Dialtown except they're not god they're just life itself
and no, they aren't a scrybe obviously. the scrybes hate them tho lol
also here's the screenshot i drew over and also a close up of the drawing

Hello Hello! It’s me! If you don’t mind a request, could I get some fluffy headcannons of P03 and the Archivist? Take all the time that you need! I don’t mind a bit of a wait. Have a good rest of your day/night!
Ah, hello~! Headcanons, eh? Well, I misread that and by the time I noticed, I'd written part of it. So you get an extra double-dose! A scoop of headcanons AND a scoop of XReader! Here we go~
Fluff Headcanons- P03
P03 tries to be flippant and superior, but he absolutely has a soft spot when it comes to you. He may tone down his teasing or soften his voice clips when you enter, and it's noticeable. And adorable.
This boy is starved for affection, but he'll never admit it directly. But the way he reacts when you touch his arm or lean against his side… He leans into it immediately, then acts like he didn't notice he'd done anything.
And heaven forbid if you give P03 smooches. All of his attention is riveted on you now, seeking out more of your sweet kisses with gentle nudges. But don't tease him about it or he'll withdraw and pout about it half the day.
P03's genuine laughter is so sweet, imagine his laughter audio clips mixed with an uncontrollable giggle. It's a little tough to get him to laugh more than that little smug noise he makes usually, but boy does it pay off when you do get him going!
Fluff Headcanons- The Archivist
Archivist, above almost everything else, loves collecting data. And you are no exception! She is completely enamored with any story you have to tell her about your day. She loves to listen when you infodump about an interest of yours!
She has that prim-lady laugh in polite company, the mouth-closed 'hm-hm-hm' laugh. But in private, her real laugh is like the dramatic-lady laugh (think Jessie from Pokemon) but with an ethereal echo. Aaaha-ha-ha~ She only does it around the Uberbots and you.
Unlike some of the other Uberbots, Archivist is confident about affection. She'll lean down and place little static smooches on the top of your head whenever she feels like it (which is often.) And if you want snuggles, you'll GET snuggles!
She saves all of the little interactions she has with you in a folder deep in her hard drive- that may or may not be marked with a bunch of hearts. Keep out, Archivist's eyes only!
And now for our XReader portion!
P03 x GN!Reader
P03 was the type to get stuck in his work- balancing cards, recalibrating his particle scanner, doing spot inspections and generally being an overbearing boss to his factory workers. So in an attempt to relieve some of his workload, you offered to help him sort the day's cards.
There was an amiable silence between you as you both sorted cards into stacks of energy cost. Your thoughts carried you off as you glanced at the robotic Scrybe out of the corner of your eye. To think that he didn't even want you to look at the cards when you first began stopping by the factory, let alone touch them. Now he trusts you to sort with him; it felt… nice.
"What's the matter?" P03 interrupted your musing as you looked up. His eyes flicked down to your hands, then back up. "You were hesitating. Don't tell me that you suddenly forgot how to count," he teased, his screen flickering to that smug face of his.
You pouted, but you were used to his jeers at this point and could fire right back. "Oh, I was merely distracted by the handsome robot across from me," you replied, your own smirk curling your mouth. It wasn't technically a lie, either.
That seemed to catch him genuinely off-guard, a shocked face cycling across his screen before he switched to an indifferent look quickly as if to hide his reaction. "Seriously?" he beeped, "Are you so simple-minded that I distract you?"
He could dish the teasing out, but he couldn't take it and it was hilarious to you. "I mean, a Scrybe is pretty distracting by themselves, but you…" you trailed off with a smile, then added, "Intelligence and looks, dangerous combination."
You could tell you got him good because P03 started flustering with a few high chirps. Then there were those cute dashes on his 'cheeks'- Success! Blushing robot!
"S-Stop that!" he barked with a stutter, but you could tell he was putting up a front, "Just sort before I take them from you, idiot."
You couldn't help a laugh. He was so easy to tease sometimes.
The Archivist x GN!Reader
It was a rare moment that you got alone with the Archivist, once her flock of librarians had moved off to study some files at her behest. But you so enjoyed these moments with the Uberbot- and so did she.
You would ask her about her day and she would tell you about the most interesting files she had come across in that day. You weren't really sure about some of the technical terms she used, but she was so excited that you hung on every word anyway. Then she would ask you about your day. You told her this and that, even the tiniest details you added in held her attention. Whether your day was good or bad, she strove to hear everything about it- if you were willing to tell.
You were almost certain that she was slowly building a file on you- and that struck you as sweet.
"It sounds as if your day was interesting," Archivist cooed in that soft, digitized hum. Her voice was beautiful, it soothed your nerves to hear her talk about- anything. Sometimes you would just listen in on her instructions to the librarians just to admire the sound. "-Dear?"
"Huh?" You snapped back to attention, then felt a little silly, "Sorry, I zoned out. Could you repeat that?"
She laughed gently at your sheepish look. "I deduced that," she replied, "I said, 'I found a story that you might be interested in during my file search. Would you like me to read it to you, dear?'"
Oh, wonderful. "Yes, please," you found yourself replying a little too quickly. You knew Archivist had noticed when she tittered again.
She reached out her arm to beckon you closer and you obeyed. She tucked her arm around you to pull you closer to her frame and she smiled down at you. You smiled back, feeling so lucky to know her in this moment.
Archivist began her story, "It was a wondrous time to be alive…"

Okokok so I love the scrybes because to me they are very much very old friends, rivals too who have their grievances with each other, but still old friends. They've been in this cycle forever so of course they've dropped pleasantries and from the outside the way they act looks only antagonistic. As each cycle goes on they get more set in their ways and convictions of how the game should be, to the point where they are now, at a constant arms race for the old data. Ik all this is kinda canon divergent for multiple reasons but yeag
Also Leshy is definitely my favorite scrybe because he just. Loves the game . He's so excited to get a new challenger and in the end when all the assets are disappearing he doesn't care that there can't be any end or winner to a match, he just asks to keep playing.
Sorry for the ramble 😭 - @helsex
NONONO YOU GET IT. i love leshy he's so delightful. i know when i actually get to the end im going to cry like a baby he already means the world to me.

Realized i never posted my thoughts on inscryption and its ending so- spoilers below the cut:
Inscryption babbling but uhhh
it really blows my mind how much the ending really sells the themes of the story. Because in the final part of the ending where you run through what ifs with the other scrybes; the final one against magnificus which was hyped to hell is basically a cutscene more than a fight.
its unfinished, the cards you get are lackluster; the visuals are grand but the reality is that the scrybe most hyped for his cruelty and sense of "artistic perfection" is never realized on a mechanical level.
Considering the entire point of the ending is this game ripping itself to shreds due to the eldritch knowledge it contains, and the choice to end itself to attempt to purge this curse rather than let it fester was made as an impulse. I think its really obvious that was intentional!
The ending is gorgeous and moving but also mechanically feels lacking and almost unsatisfying and i think that like. Thats the point. Going on forever is degrading and exhausting but ending things is not guaranteed to be better. You arent supposed to be happy that the world the game represents is dying- its supposed to feel kind of like a waste. A missed chance. that even in the name of breaking a horrid cycle you cannot set out to destroy without losing some potential.
Ending the cycle of inscryption, stopping the spread of the scrybes influence (especially P03) isnt a wrong choice. but that doesnt mean its goint to be satisfying. Seeking out the truth is not guarantee to a reward.
Something about that really shakes me in a way that I keep coming back to.
#inscryption#inscryption spoilers#like the whole ending is spoiled here#fucking hell its so cool but also really sits heavy on my mind

Crackpot Theories: The Scribe of Technology
More accurately the weird things I noticed after completing the story mode for Inscryption as I have a theory that PO-3 wasn’t the original Scribe of Technology.
(as a crackpot theory I will say evidence is sparse but that is why these theories are called crackpot theories)
Also spoiler warning for the second and third act of Inscryption as well as parts of Kaycee’s mod read ahead at your own discretion.
So if you have played through act two you know that each of the Scrybes has their own Subordinates(?) (don’t really know what to call them it seems to change depending on the scrybe) and they are as such:
Leshy, Scrybe of Beasts: The Prospector, The Angler, and The Trapper
Grimora, Scrybe of the Dead: Kaycee Hobbes, Sawyer Patel, and Royal Dominguez
Magnificus, Scrybe of Magicks: Goobert, Pike Mage and Lonely Wizard
P03, Scrybe of Technology: The Inspector, The Melter and The Dredger
Now there are some exceptions such as The wood carver, The trader and whatever plasma jimmy counts as, but a major arises as when we get to chapter 3 we don’t fight the three subordinates but rather we fight the four Uberbots which I will go over in a bit. Now you may say but we only have acts 1 and to draw from for the fights and you would be right but you have to remember two things:
In both acts the fights leading up to the Scrybe fight the subordinates must be defeated first
P03 is doing something different to the other Scrybes during his cycle
So with that in mind we look to the Uberbots things off P03 supposed creation and oh boy do things get strange as everyone of them seemingly mimics the Scrybe that they reference The Photographer to Leshy, The Archivist to Grimora and The Unfinished Boss to Magnificus, each also adds in bits of P03s personality.
Now you may noticed I missed one, the one that represents P03, G0lly and G0lly themselves is an anomaly as:
they are the only Uberbot with a unique personality
they are the only Uberbot refenced to as their own sentient entity by P03. “Probably my least favourite boss coming up. Something about her... innocence. It makes me queasy.” - P03 prior to the G0lly fight
they are the only Uberbot to break the 4th wall of the game taking you friends list
They are the only Uberbot to not get the narrated intro
what's weirder is Goobert who mind you has been in the pipes since the start of act 3 says after G0lly’s defeat "I heard through the pipes that you defeated G0lly. Such a strange character. Her curiosity is so pure... it's a shame that P03 buries her deep." - Goobert.
...buried you say like a repressed side, while it seems like a stretch it seems weirdly right as like all of the other Uberbots G0lly is in a .zip file only decompressed for their fight. Now you maybe saying all of the Uberbots are created for specifically P03′s plan but here is the thing, P03 has a large ego so it begs the question why would P03 make the mimic for himself something that actively disgusts him. Here is my personal theory.
G0lly while called P03 by Gamefuna due to the OLD_DATA developed a consciousness and split into two sperate beings those being P03 the more scientific and calculating one, and G0lly the more pure curious one. P03 ends up supplanting G0lly as the dominant being before the events of the logs in Kaycee’s mod and after that G0lly only reawakens after being unzipped from the .zip file she was trapped in.
well that is just one option the way I see it there are a few options:
a. G0lly existed prior to the OLD_DATA enlightenment and each of the uberbots represents the different parts of a machine (this option is my least favorite of all the options)
b. G0lly existed prior to the OLD_DATA enlightenment but said enlightenment shattered her mind leading to the creation of P03 and the other Uberbots and left G0lly airheaded and how she acts today
c. G0lly and P03 existed prior to the OLD_DATA enlightenment but G0lly was supposed to be the dominant side but due to the enlightenment P03 gained the knowledge to supplant her
d. P03 was always the Scribe but G0lly is originally apart of P03s personality sectioned off thanks to the introduction of the OLD_DATA
Personally options B and D are my favorite but I’m not going to discount the others as they are fun to think about.
Now I guess I should say that this isn’t the first time this theory has been go over as reddit has pointed out this idea a few times if anyone wants I will add my favorite in addition to this post. Actually fun fact my curiosity about this was peaked when I was thinking about the inconsistencies of G0lly and couldn’t find any info that was given by the game, Reddit or Tumblr. Anyways that this crackpot theory done and enough writing for now so I'm gonna tune out for now see ya.

Just finished Inscryption, I have thoughts on the meta-purpose of the scrybes. Inscryption loves cards games, Play it. It's good.
(Thoughts on the Scrybes Below)
Each of the Scrybes is a personification of an aspect of card game design. This is almost explicitly mentioned in game and referenced with they're tools.
Leshy- Atmosphere/World Building
PO3- Game design/ Balance
Magnificus- Art
Grimora - Story
Interestingly the game is also split into 4 acts, 1 and 3 obviously being lead by a game master but arguably so are 2 and 4 though less directly.
2 opens with Magnificus before going into its whole alternate game mode which is the "original version". Except it's not, Inscryption in universe starts as a physical card game and the game is just a reskinning of it. The other 3's contributions stay the same but Magnificus's art has to adapt to the pixel art style. Neat. It's the flexible nature of art in card games (2 different pictures can be the same card) that gives him the meta-textual basis to know that his apprentices can survive this if he trains them. (Makes them more reprintable).
Act 4/ The finale is where this connection becomes interesting because Grimora is a vessel through which Mullins is making a very salient point into why card games kinda suck at stories. I.e because they cannot end. The game plays with Cycles, everything repeating with minor changes. Same as a card game set or new rotation. The game without Grimora's involvement would be the same as every other card game, Another round, Have Luke replace PO3 as the designer (he already proved he can balance cards in PO3's act), make a new set, new cards, new mechanics. But Grimora says no to that and forces the characters to accept the end of their story making Inscryption a unique and salient comment on card games as a storytelling medium. And leading to the actual best moment in the game with Leshy, a unique and powerful beat that only works by accepting Grimora's story.
This doesn't have any large scale lore implications or anything, I just think it's very impressive that Mullins made a game about games where each character looking for purpose got to fulfill they're purpose in a very meta level. It's good design.

8. What are some similarities between you and your muse/muses?
Oh! This is a fun one! Now, by and large, I've found one of the uniting traits across the spectrum of the characters I play is loyalty - I don't play many, if any, characters that don't have that firm resolution towards the people they choose and the causes they champion. Sometimes this is a positive thing; other times, well, see Evan and Sally. But it's a trait that all goes back to me!
Likewise! Many of my characters veer between levels of empathy and have complex relationships with their empathy. Now it's an odd similarity, I'll admit, but as a neurodivergent person, I've always seen the subject of it to be interesting. Like, it's not something I was just unconsciously aware of since birth; it's something I've always had to look into and keep checked in order to mask better! That way I never go too far into any extreme haves and have-nots. So, with this in mind, I love to play around and explore characters in that same vein! Having characters unaware of their relationship with their sense of empathy and seeing how it impacts them and their interpersonal relationships!
For instance, with Leshy, he has very, very low empathy due to his megalomania from being a god, how long he's been isolated and away from human contact and the disconnection that's formed between him, his actions and his mind. This, expectedly, has caused his relationships with other beings, such as Fiadh and the other Scrybes to become extremely fraught!
Now, I should state for the record, that at the best of times, I find myself struggling with empathy more on the overly empathetic side of the equation, so, more accurately, you could compare me as a mun to either Ophelia or Sally in that regard. In fact, of all of my characters, I am the most similar in terms of personality to Ophelia. However, that is kinda by design as she started out as a venting character used to express my own fears, but kind of evolved into her own thing! But moving on!
9. What are some differences between you and your muse/muses?
First things first! I don't kill or hurt people, so that's one HUUUUGE difference between many of my muses and myself! Haha. To be more specific, though, I make all of my characters more confident and headstrong than I make myself. Often this becomes a flaw for said character; see Sally, but even still, they are more assertive than I could ever be!
Additionally, their OUTLOOKS, oh my god, I will say, not one of the characters even begins to touch on the outlook of a bun and to say there are similarities between the two would be to say that Nunavut and Florida are similar just because they're both in the Northern Hemisphere. My character's outlooks are a disaster zone of hopelessness, delusion, ego & toxicity. And while it's super fun to watch them, I would NOT want to be inside their minds!
21. Are there certain characters that you gravitate towards?
Hands down, tragic characters, I LOVE miserable, tragic and terrible people! Haha. Perhaps my decision to choose these characters is due to my internal desire to do better by them and give them things to explain their misery and make them less pitiable! Or maybe I just like the sadness and anger in their narratives! Who knows!
16 & 17. Favorite trope? Least favorite trope?
Pointless struggle. I always really hate the narrative in horror media that spirits and monsters perpetuate this cycle of anguish for themselves and others, just for some person off the street to come in and teach them the meaning of friendship or w/e and boom! Everyone is happy! The evil is defeated! It always feels so cheap and, to me, undermines the core message of the spirits and monsters (especially when they relate to topics like abuse). That being said, when this trope is flipped on its head, and the actions of outsiders intruding in on these cycles with the hopes to fix things aren't rewarded and the narrative makes sure to outline that no one has benefitted at all and, in fact, the intruders have just fed into the cycle, making the agony more intense. I don't know, it feels a lot more poignant as a whole and I like it a lot better!

The robot inspected the twisting bark and encroaching moss with a analytical look.
There wasn’t anything special about the soil it grew from, the climate it thrived in, but yet the woods welcomed him like an old friend.
It disgusted him, the familiar draw. had it always been this way? Was there truth to the Scrybe of Beast’s rambles of returning to the soil?
Surely the metallic body of a robot was spared this pointless end, to live in the memory of reality as more than the same atoms that built the cycle of death.
He was above it all, above the bugs and critters who scampered the dirt in fear of the end. He had to be. So what was this feeling in his chest?
A feeling of… uncertainty.
Here’s the leshyless version

hey there card gamers,
#the cryptid speaks#the cryptid speaks in tongues#inscryption#EVERY TIME hrmrghmrghrmgrhgmr#im so not even kinda normal about inscryption and the end jus makes it Worse every time i swear#like in a /pos way dw this is the best brainrot#i have So many things i could say but my wrists hate me actually >:(#but with my limited wrist power i Will say i released inscryption can also be inevitability brainrot#both bc a) it was all recorded. the game u were 'playing' was always jus luke's recordings.#which means that everyone was dead from the very beginning. the scrybes. luke. everyone. they were dead before u had even met the stoat#and b) the inevitability of the scrybes. how; even outside of their recorded deaths; this was how it always had to go for them#they existed as they did only bc of the OLD_DATA that they lived through. they were doomed to constantly repeat the same cycle#of violence and overtaking and restarting over and over again until they were dead. what grimora did truly was their only chance for rest#not to even talk about magnificus's visions and doomed record of the OLD_DATA by itself#anyways yeah lots of thoughts So many thoughts unfortunately my wrists are weak and pathetic
