Getting back into junk journaling, here’s some recent spreads

you know, i watch a lot of bujo/journal/diary vids and what really gets me is the commodification of literal garbage and recyclables. printouts that look like crinkled paper and newspaper and old books and fuckin. grocery store coupons. washi tapes of nondescript shopping receipts. tear-out booklets of paper scraps. notepads with the exact same design as mundane office supplies but twice the price and half the pages with some trendy “minimalistic” stationary brand’s logo slapped all over it and shipped all the way from Japan on diesel.

am i going insane. if you want “junk”/“scrap” looks like that, save your receipts. buy a 99¢ romance novel from Goodwill and tear the pages out. buy yellow notepads from staples and office max. pick up the coupon pages from your grocery store. maybe buy one nat geo magazine or a fashion mag and cut the pictures and ads out if you’re feeling zesty. crumple your own fucking paper. reduce reuse recycle with shit that’s already there instead of putting more paper waste and the ensuing manufacturing waste out into the world. does this make any sense.

The first day of fall semester is in 6 days!! 🎉🎉 I’m so excited it’s almost embarrassing– I just can’t wait to actually start classes for my major because I’ve been waiting so long to actually be able to enroll in them.

I’ve been less active because I’ve been completely redoing my workspace for the past 2 weeks, and it’s almost ready just in time for the new semester! I’m loving the switch from that sad gray desk to this wood one, but I have far less space for my trinket clutter 😔.

I’ve been updating my junk (crow? scrap?) journal to take breaks in between cleaning sessions, so here are some of my favorite spreads from the past weeks. Ignore the censors on the second one, it had a little too much personal info for my taste 😵‍💫.

I needed a quick project I could bust out in an hour or two so here’s a (literal) scrap book made with some of my paper hoard. I hang onto scraps that I just happen to like the look of and the collection gets out of hand or hard to organize sometimes.

This is a good way of using up old scraps, but it tends to then create the problem of having too many journals to use…

finally scanned a page… this was so fun!! also i didn’t know our scanner was capable of scanning at 1200 dpi, and the quality would be this good. look at the crispy details… i love this so much
