Cartoon Network Friday Spotlight: Ed, Edd n’ Eddy- “Scrambled Ed”

I feel like I always come back to the Eds, but you know what they say, write about what you know. Ed, Edd n’ Eddy has always been special to me, and watching the whole show again on HBO Max (as well as the specials and movie on Amazon) only reaffirms my love for the series.

And it’s funny, while I generally am on the side who prefers the confidence of the later episodes, there is something special about the first two seasons as they premiered during what was probably my peak Cartoon Network-watching period. When I look back to my best memories of CN, it involves the Eds in some capacity, and I often think back to the first 2 or 3 seasons.

Like this season 2 classic, where Double D stays up all night to complete a model ship, but his attempt to sleep in is spoiled by Eddy’s dreams of Ed’s Sea Ranch, an underwater utopia that will surely make the trio wealthy beyond their wildest dreams. Eddy insists that Double D helps him out, but he’s not alone, as seemingly everyone else in the Cul-De-Sac need his assistance in some way. Unfortunately, our sleep-deprived Edward isn’t much use, and things don’t end up well for the crew.

It does result in another funny episode, though, including one of Rolf’s greatest bits of wisdom- “never use hot wax too sooth enraged lobsters.” Thank you.

Welcome to ‘Scambled Ed’!  This is another of my favorite episodes, and one of the first to focus on Edd. ��It even has a good deal of kid-moments.  However, it’s heavily gag-driven, so I can’t imagine there’s as much to analyze as the last few episodes!

Titled in reference to ‘Scrambled Eggs’, because that’s breakfast and the episode’s about waking up Edd.  The title card also makes a connection to the premise by showing a farmhand waking up and throwing a shoe at the cliche sunrise rooster.

this focking guy,.

he wakes up at like noon every day. crawls out of bed and if he's lucky, hygienes, or else he just goes right to "breakfast" which is walking to the gas station to get A Soda. he does this EVERY DAY (gestures to the April 16th comic of him showing up at the gas station every day even though he didn't need to) If Bartenn is not busy, he can usually get wrapped up to talking to him, and maybe Bartenn will make him eat something more than Soda, like a muffin or something. If Bartenn doesn't take up his day (sometimes Bartenn will carry him along for errands, or gives him a little task) then he goes outside and wastes his time! he doesn't have a job (no need for money in Nhales) or hobbies anymore, so he just. idk gets high i guess. he doesn't even do anything fun, he just lays around and sits on curbs and thinking (?) then he probably finds his way home, takes a nap, a Deyer comes over and wakes him up and takes him to the Deyer house to eat dinner, which is always a nice actual meal of delicious take-out, and then he goes home or watches Lifetime TV with them until 2am

average day...... im afraid his regular days are mostly sleeping, doing drugs, being sick, and television. and he lives rent free in my mind doing these 4 things over and over again (until something happens)

Seeing bad faith takes about the morning after scene, how it’s sooooo creepy and intrusive for Izzy to come in and comment and like…

Firstly, it has always been Izzy’s job to march into the captain’s cabin unannounced to make his report. We see him do it five mins after Stede wakes up and meets Ed for the first time.

Secondly, the people saying this clearly have no IRL friends because it is actually super fucking common for your friends to tease you and give you shit (affectionate) after you finally manage to bang your crush. There’s one hookup from 15 years ago my friends still won’t let me live down. Not maliciously; simply because it is fun and funny for them to make me blush about it.

Thirdly, I am stomping on you like cockroaches. Stop dragging all this extra toxic negativity into my fun queer pirate romcom. let them make sex jokes.
