what was your main inspiration/reason to write 5001?
Well, the reason is pretty obvious: I wrote it for the SCP-5000 contest. I intended to write an article to win, but it was my third article and so it wasn't particularly great, especially in comparison to the winner, but ah well.
As for the inspiration, I had a few sources, but my main source was Evangelion. Specifically, the scene in the first rebuild where they fire the energy weapon through Ramiel's core. That was such a tense scene and was so cool, and I wanted to recreate something along those lines. Even before I conceptualized all the details about the article, I knew I wanted a scene where a laser fires something into the center of something really big.
I actually remember where I was when I came up with the basic idea for SCP-5001: I was in the middle of my prayer services before school (I'm Jewish, to be clear), and I suddenly had a flash of inspiration: the theme was mystery, so what if there was an anomaly in a containment chamber that the Foundation found, and they had no idea what was inside of it until it breached? At the time, the placeholder images in my mind for this idea were "facility that contained something akin to Gears' Proposal, and it nearly breaches at the end before somehow being recontained, without anyone actually seeing the anomaly and living." It was a cool idea, but not really what I wanted.
The inspiration from Ramiel's death in Evangelion comes into play now, since I realized I didn't just want to anomaly to be never seen, but also be really fucking big. I knew that whatever was in this facility needed to be powerful and ancient, and I knew the Foundation needed to barely be able to recontain it through some last-minute ditch efforts using the most powerful weapons available to them. This is how I came up with the idea for HECOR (the High-Energy Concentration Orbital Railgun), and how I conceptualized the climax of the article.
As for what was actually inside the facility, I still had no idea. In fact, I didn't even come up with the Broken God connection until I was a ways into the article. I just had the basic idea and started writing. I did a bit of research into strong materials and came up with a general design for it, and decided where to put it. I chose the Russian wilderness at the time because it was unlikely to cause of Veil breach if big shit happened there, but it kinda made sense later for the Broken God connection.
Still, the article mostly shaped into its current form as I was writing it. A big part of my philosophy for writing SCPs specifically is using the format to my advantage by trying to make the document as clinical as possible. I included a history section for realism and to provide additional context for the circumstances of the object's history, and talked about all the technological discoveries due to SCP-5001 to help add some gravitas to the anomaly's function.
I think it was while writing the section on "OMEGA" that I finally realized this would be a perfect Broken God article. Not only that, but I realized it would be really interesting if I made SCP-5001 the heart of the Broken God that was missing from Kaktus's second SCP-001 Proposal. That's the idea I was working with as I went into the final section of the article.
I actually remember when I wrote that. I think I had a short break from high school, so I stayed up all night writing the final addendum in a fervor. I was listening to this cover of "In My Spirit" the entire time (like, six hours total), which also meant that the beginning of the Zuriel fight from the Evangelion rebuilds played a role in shaping the way the incident log escalated. (I highly recommend reading the incident log with the song playing in the background, btw!)
As for the ending... well, I'm kinda shit at writing endings. Anyone whose read my articles can tell you that it's usually the weakest part of my writing. If I wrote the ending of the article now I'd be a bit subtler, but I wanted to essentially show that SCP-5001 was the missing heart of the Broken God. I just wasn't very good at conveying that.
After I finished the article, I started getting critique, and while it was mostly positive, I did get some feedback that wasn't so encouraging. Still, it helped me refine the article quite a bit, and even if SCP-5001 was far from perfect, it's better than if I didn't get feedback at all. I remember getting some critique in the middle of our school's yearly ski trip lol
After I posted it, I remember being amazed at how fast its rating was growing, and for a few days I was actually in first place! Of course, Tanhony's "Why?" eventually overtook me, but I'll never forget the excitement of actually getting first place with my third article on the site for a while. I'm still quite happy with getting third place, though, and getting the SCP-5001 slot. :)

Hello! I'm the one that suggested Twst x SCP and honestly, I was actually referring to the more 'powerful' SCPs such as the Gate Guardian/Scp-001, Scp-3812, 682 or SCPs that are related to the mythos of Yaldabaoth/Mekhane(Like, Scp-610 or 5001), the Scarlet King(Like, Scp-231), the Hanged King/Alagadda(Like, Scp-701, 2264 or even 035) and end of the word scenarios such as 'When Day Breaks', 'The World's Gone Beautiful' etc. If not these graphic/dark ones then, maybe wholesome SCPs like Scp-999, 2295 or 348 should suit your fancy. But regardless, it’s entirely up to you on what you'll do with these suggestions of mine. Also, I do very much apologise for rambling and doing the unecessary info-dumping and you absolutely aren’t obligated to comply with my suggestions, okay? I suggested these because I just think that the idea of Twst characters' reaction to these SCPs would be pretty neat and interesting considering that S.T.Y.X. can be counted as Twisted Wonderland's very own SCP Foundation. Again, I apologise for bothering you about this.
Hm! I wonder if Twisted Wonderland characters would consider those scenarios more unsettling since powerful magic/monsters exist and could conceivably be similar to those things, or if they would consider it less scary since they have similar things.
I do think comparing STYX to the SCP foundation is pretty cool. Makes me wonder how Ortho and Idia would respond to it. Obviously their organization isn't quite as evil as the SCP foundation tends to be- as far as we're aware, they aren't constantly sending prisoners into the phantom's cages to get devoured. But there are some decent similarities, like the secret organization protecting the world from dangerous creatures and utilizing memory wiping systems to do it.
In terms of apocalyptic stories, I think Malleus and Idia's reactions would be interesting, as they're both characters who tried to trigger their own little apocalypses. I think most characters would have the standard 'this is upsetting, I don't want the world to end, this is scary/melancholic' but Idia and Malleus might also feel sort of bad about their own apocalyptic intentions, too. Maybe they'd get a chance to recognize how shitty it is to not be leading the apocalypse, Malleus especially.
Malleus actually might be interested in the uber-powerful SCPs like the Gate Guardian. They're SCPs that are incredibly powerful- he might be interested if they're strong enough to beat him! And then Sebek would hate them for being potentially better than his liege...
Sorry if this isn't super interesting, I don't know a ton about SCPs, but I think it's an interesting idea to explore for sure!

What are your favorite scps? both in terms of the concept and also the writing itself
Oooooooo, let's go!
As far as the classics go, SCP-231 is a masterclass in creating fear through implication. Mind the trigger warnings at the beginning though.
I love the concept for SCP-105: Iris because she's just a normal woman who can do one weird thing with one particular camera, but she gets embroiled in so many problems thanks to the Foundation refusing to leave well enough alone, essentially. Iris is a good character, she doesn't see as much use in more recent SCPs as she should imo.
SCP-1730: What Happened to Site 13? Is one of the early long-form SCPs, and it's very compelling.
SCP-2316: Field Trip is a great early example of just how creative SCP articles can be, and it will have you saying "I do not recognize the bodies in the water." randomly throughout your day.
Really anything by DJ Kaktus is a good read. SCP-6666: The Demon Hector and the Dread Titania is so far my favorite entry in the expanding Kaktusverse.
It would take too long to provide an explanation for all of my faves, but I'll include them below:
SCP-701: The Hanged King's Tragedy
SCP-999: The Tickle Monster
SCP-3966: Falling Out
SCP-001: The Gate Guardian and SCP-001: The Black Moon
SCP-4010: Attempt to Look at What We've Accomplished
SCP-1425: Star Signals
SCP-5001: Sacrosanct
SCP-5002: A Death in Containment
SCP-5236: Ethics Committee Inquest
Those are my top 14 or so, but there are plenty of other excellent ones out there!

Danny Phantom has Plant Sam right?
Me, overly influeced after the SCP 5001 video? Never, that's a ridiculous idea. So we've got Sam possessed by Undergrowth and Danny overtaken by Nocturne but what about Tucker overtaken by Technus? Heck, Cyber Tuck would even work better for Sam Mourner’s ‘friend is possessed by a powerful ghost’ thing than Void Danny, as then Tucker Ghouly gets Void Danny! Technus isn't badass enough you say? I agree, let's chuck out canon as usual and do some sprucing up.
In order to avoid death after the violent passing of his little brother Sydney Poindexter, Nicolai Poindexter decided to try uploading his mind to a computer. This was quite the goal, but this is Amity Park and there's a reason the portal could be opened here. The tiny bit of energy leaking over from the Realms is enough for the procedure to work! Except, uh, well, the power surge it caused meant that he didn't exactly /escape/ death. He is in the computer though!
Inievitably, someone - Jack in nostalgia, Danny in curiosity as he goes through his dad's junk in the shed, etc - hooks it up just to see if it still works. It is, unfortunately, connected to the internet. a face appears on the screen for a sec, but then it vanishes with an ominous laugh, and Danny has a Foreboding Feeling.
There's so many classes on the internet, and so many robot movies to draw inspiration from! Technus is certain that he's free from emotion and the chaos there of and wishes to spread this perfection to the rest of humanity, and so he starts in his home town. Which is, of course, where he finds Tucker Foley, lamenting about how much he'd love to have a cybernetic enhancement of some kind.
So Technus gives him that. Things go from there.

Scp 5001 is one of my favorite Scps, along with 3001, 4001, and 6001 (I’m noticing a pattern). When I first learned about Scp, sooting massive monsters with lasers was something I had come to love as a Godzilla fan, and the idea that the Broken god, this thing that has been looming over the foundation for decades, is actually a benevolent entity, that loves humanity so much she’s willing to give up her heart to protect it, is cinema level writing.
In an alternate universe where Why? didn’t happen, you absolutely would deserve the 5000 slot :)
Thank you!! I sincerely appreciate the kind words <3

SCP 5001 is a collective being, made up of an unknown number of children’s illustrators, all of which share a generic, cartoonish face. It is believed that they act as an ideal hive mind, sharing all thoughts and emotions freely. Its primary anomalous effect is its constant spawning of memetic agents in the form of images, most of which are meant for an elementary school setting, and all of which display the same face as that possessed by the illustrators that make up 5001. These images are known to evoke a strong feeling that one is being patronized or talked-down to, in addition to possessing a specific amnestic quality that, upon a relatively short period of visual obstruction from the agent, causes one to forget that the images exist, until they are observed once more.
If you think your art have same-face syndrome, just remember that the Carson Dellosa Printing Company exists.
