What Thoughts Come to Mind About Your Favorite Boom! Comics PR Ship (part 1)
Kim/Tommy: Puppy dog eyes from across the hall. Hair care routines. Boss girl and husband-wife. Promise rings. Getting ears pierced together at the mall and both getting an infection. Going to county fairs and participating in jam making or wine making and laughing like little loons when they get messy. Thinking that first love is a forever kind of thing. TomKat: Shared trauma inciting something of a protective nature. Falling asleep from exhaustion with their head on each other’s shoulder. Deep dislike for hypnosis or mind control as presented in movies--so they excuse themselves and go get more snacks at group outings. Coffee dates when studying at college that don’t feel romantic, but really nice. Calling each other at least once a week even when other sides of the country. Sort of just falling into romance by accident that felt totally natural. Jason/Trini/Zack: Shared tattoos in the shape of a lightning bolt with their shared Colors. Painting their shared living quarters together and trying not to trip over their draped furniture. Chores dealt out in order of ability--laundry, cooking, cleaning--unless there’s burnout approaching, in which they trade until equilibrium realigns. Sleeping together in a big bed in the middle of a warm summer day after making out for hours. The topic of children being discussed, but in a way that means they’ll never have any of their own--just fostering. Eating weird food from locations they’ve never visited and watching each other carefully in case there’s an allergy or bad reaction on the horizon. J.J./Anara: Back to back badasses. Late nights in a squad car scoping out a location and eating terrible food when joking about their commanding officers. Complete terror of the idea of the commitment involved in marriage as a legal necessity. Both being trans and hotter than anyone else they know but each other. Wanting tattoos, but both being terrified of needles so they decided to get exactly the same thing so they could hold hands between their chairs--a colored stripe down the spine, just between the shoulder blades, resembling a brush stroke, with darker stripes that will stand out more with age; autumn maple leaf for JJ and shiny green candy apple for Anara. Scorpina/Goldar: Ridiculous outfits for going undercover among the humans. No indoor voices. The smell of armor polish. Having much softer hair than they have any right to. Popping balloons with their fingernails at inappropriate times. Grossing out everyone they know when they act even remotely affectionate or...come out of their bedrooms without showering after a night together; ew.

Masterlist
TITLE: Bad Timing (Adam Park x reader)
Prompt/summary:  (MMPR Season 2 episode 29, Goldar’s Vice Versa) Reader is the team's stand-in medic and is trying to ask Adam to the Vice-Versa dance. Lord Zedd has other plans.
Word Count: 2,276
Warnings:  none
Tumblr media
“It’s about time the girls had to ask the guys to the dance,” Rocky said leading the boys to a table at Earnie’s juice bar.
“Who are you going with?” Billy asked.
Rocky smiled and leaned back in his chair, “Jessica Peterson, I can’t believe she asked me. What about you Adam?”
Adam sighed, “I don’t think I’m going…”
“Why not?” His friends asked.
“No one’s asked me yet, and I don’t think anyone’s going to,” the boy said.
“Don’t feel bad Adam, no one’s invited me yet either,” Billy said.
Adam gave a sad smile, feeling a little bit better that he wasn’t alone in his struggle. But just as Billy said that, Laura Scottsman approached the boys table asking to speak to Billy alone. Adam leaned his head into his hand watching the blue ranger walk off only to return with a smile on his face, “Hey guys, Laura just asked me to the dance!”
“Atta boy!” Rocky said high-fiving Billy.
“Looks like I’m the only one without a date, even Bulk and Skull are going if those weird girls ever catch them,” Adam sighed.
“Don’t worry Adam, someone will ask you,” Rocky tried to console his friend.
“I gotta get going, later guys,” Adam said standing up and walking off.
His friends shared a sigh. (Y/n) watched Adam leave and hurriedly approached the two boys remaining at the table.
“Hey guys,” (Y/n) said, the boys looked up and smiled, “Where’d Adam go?”
“I’m not sure, he’s been bummed out that no one’s asked him to the dance,” Rocky said.
Billy smirked at the youngest member of the team, “Why haven’t you asked him yet (Y/n)? Everyone knows you want to.”
“Oh I hope not everyone,” (Y/n) sighed while pulling out a chair to sit down.
“Everyone on the team at least, I think Aisha has made it her mission to try and set you two up,” Rocky chuckled.
(Y/n) blushed, “I was actually gonna ask you guys to help me think of an idea to ask him to be my date…”
The two boys smiled before Rocky said, “You don’t need anything fancy (Y/n), just ask him outright and he’ll say yes.”
“You don’t know that!”
“Yes we do! He’s had a crush on you since you started helping Alpha out in the power chamber,” Billy said.
“Last time I patched him up after a fight he wouldn’t even look at me, or talk to me.”
“Adam’s just a shy guy, you’ll figure it out (Y/n),” Rocky said.
“I sure hope so, anyways I’m gonna go find Aisha. She might be able to help.”
(Y/n) stood up with a sigh and went to track down the yellow ranger.
_______________________________
Kim, Adam, and Aisha sat at Earnie’s the next afternoon. Aisha had spent all of their first period trying to convince (Y/n) to shoot her shot with the handsome black ranger. Eventually Aisha resorted to telling Adam Sarah Diaz might ask him if he shows up to Volleyball practice, all while (Y/n) stood next to her and listened. It broke (Y/n)’s heart at how hopeful Adam looked after Aisha told him, and (Y/n) decided that it was gonna be that day she asked him.
So here they sat at the juice bar. Aisha kept her eye on the door waiting for their team medic to show up with the poster they had made.
“Lord Zedd has the worst timing ever,” Kim groaned.
“Tell me about it. It’s too late now, Sarah’s probably gonna ask someone else,” Adam said.
“Oh Adam don’t give up, I heard from a little birdie that there’s someone else planning on asking you,” Aisha smiled.
“You mean (Y/n)? They better do it soon before Sarah gets to him first,” Kim laughed.
Adam blushed at the mention of their friend, they were the first person Adam wanted to ask him but after he saw them with Aisha yesterday he wasn’t sure at all if they were even interested.
“You guys I gotta go, catch you later,” Kim said, grabbing her bag. The other two rangers waved as she walked out.
Cheers were heard from the main floor of the gym, grabbing both the rangers attention, “Hey what’s going on over there?”
“Let’s check it out,” Adam said.
They both stood up and walked over to see a girl practicing karate. Adam watched in awe. Her black hair shone under the lights of the gym, and her suit was crisp and clean. Her kicks were swift and graceful, she finished her routine and the crowd clapped for her. She grabbed a bag off the floor and walked up the steps towards the teens.
“Hey,” the girl said, “do you mind if I join you? I’m new in school and I don’t know many people yet.”
“Sure, I’m Adam and this is Aisha,” Adam smiled.
Aisha held out her hand for the girl to shake but she shoved her bag into her and grabbed Adam’s instead causing Aisha to scoff.
“I’m Sabrina, it’s nice to meet you Adam,” she smiled, “I heard you’re one of the best martial artists at Angel Grove High, maybe you could show me a few moves?”
Aisha’s eyes widened as she saw (Y/n) walk in. After looking around (Y/n) spotted Adam and began to walk over.
“Sure,” Adam said. He and Sabrina began to walk away, leaving Aisha still holding her bag.
“Hey!” she yelled as she tossed the bag back to the new girl who only smirked in response. The pair walked down the steps and right past (Y/n) causing them to look confusedly at them and back at Aisha.
“Who is that?” they asked.
“I really don’t know, but she seemed only interested in Adam.”
(Y/n)’s eyes began to water and Aisha put her hand on her friends shoulder, “Let’s see if we can still use that poster.”
Adam practiced with Sabrina for over an hour and a half. Aisha and (Y/n) sat at the juice bar, the poster tucked away in Aisha’s bag for later. Sabrina finally grabbed her stuff to leave and the two walked up to Adam on the matts. The boy couldn’t wipe the smile off his face and (Y/n) felt a sting in their chest.
“Oh Adam!” Aisha said in a sing-song voice, waving her hand in his face, “Reality to Adam!”
“She’s great isn't she?” he said after he pulled his eyes away from where Sabrina had just left.
“I’m not so sure about her,” Aisha said.
“Come on, give her a chance,” Adam said, “(Y/n), tell her.”
(Y/n) took a deep breath in when they heard their name from the boy, “Yeah let’s just give her a chance Aisha. As long as she makes Adam happy.”
Aisha looked sadly at (Y/n). Adam broke the silence, “Why don’t you guys come hiking with us tomorrow? So you guys can get to know each other better.”
“Alright, I’ll give her a chance,” Aisha said. (Y/n) and Adam shared a smile before he walked away.
“Are you okay (Y/n)?”
(Y/n) began to feel tears form in their eyes, “I’m so stupid Aisha, I should’ve asked him earlier and now I’ve lost him.”
“Maybe she just wants a friend? Let’s just see what happens tomorrow,” the yellow ranger said as she put her arm around her friend.
(Y/n) could only nod.
_________________________________________
The next day was a nightmare.
(Y/n) ditched the poster since they couldn’t bring a bag with them. After they met up with Adam and Sabrina both (Y/n) and Aisha could tell that the girl did not want them there. From hitting Aisha in the face with her arm, to flat out ignoring (Y/n) when they said something, it was clear that Sabrina was showing her annoyance at their company.
“Why did you have to bring them along?” Sabrina scoffed to Adam.
“They’re my best friends, I just wanted all of you to get along.”
“Well, don’t hold your breath,” the raven haired girl scoffed.
The group finally got to a grove of trees but stopped in shock when Goldar and puddies appeared in front of them, “Where are you going?”
“Take cover Sabrina!” Adam yelled, “You too (Y/n).”
(Y/n) felt another pang in their chest, but tried to get behind the tree anyway.
“Thanks for the advice, power ranger. But I can take care of myself!”
The two stared in confusion that soon became shook as the girl morphed into a gold suit before walking over to join Goldar.
“What’s going on? Who are you?” Adam yelled.
“Scorpina! And I’m your worst nightmare.”
Before the three teens could react, Goldar swung his sword and they were tied up to the tree by a glowing rope, “Soon your friends will come to your rescue and that will be the end of the Power Rangers!”
Adam grunted as he tried to move his hands, “I can’t reach my morpher.”
“Me either,” Aisha said.
“Let us go you witch!” (Y/n) yelled.
_________________________________
It didn’t take long for the Rangers to figure out there wasn’t a new girl at Angel grove. After checking in with Zordon they found out that Sabrina was actually Scorpina. The rangers got to the park as fast as they could to save their friends.
“Are you guys okay?” Tommy yelled.
Goldar interrupted before the three hostages could talk, “So glad you all could join our little farewell party!”
“Go for it guys,” Adam said.
“Hang tight,” Tommy said, “ you guys handle the puddies, I’ll take Goldar and Scorpina.”
“Right! Let’s do it,” Rocky said.
“Worst day ever,” (Y/n) sighed as the rangers ran off. The group began knocking out puddies left and right.
“Why do you say that?” Adam asked. Tommy narrowly avoided a blast from Goldar.
“I had big plans for today and I don’t even know if I should do them after this.”
“What were they?” Rocky did a flying kick in the air knocking Goldar to the ground.
“Well… I was gonna ask someone to the dance, but he seemed interested in someone else.”
Kim landed a blow on Scorpina, making her lose balance.
“Can’t hurt to ask, the least he’ll do is say no.”
“I guess you’re right,” (Y/n) sighed.
The group finally knocked out the last of the puddies. Billy ran up to the tree and used his power lance on the ropes setting his friends free.
“Way to go guys!” Aisha said.
“Let’s do it Aisha! Zordon teleport (Y/n) to the command center,” Adam said.
Adam gave (Y/n) a thumbs up before she was transferred to the ranger’s base, then jumping back into the action with his team.
(Y/n) felt a pit in their stomach as they watched their friends battle the two monsters in the megazords. Once the battle was won the rangers returned to base, and (Y/n) began her usual check up on each ranger. After everyone was cleared for injuries they quickly gathered their things and left causing Adam to wonder what was bothering them.
______________________________
It took Aisha and (Y/n) two hours to get ready, with the first 45 minutes being Aisha convincing (Y/n) to go regardless of if she asked Adam or not. (Y/n) left with a single red rose tucked away for later.
Adam stood with Tommy and Kim at the dance. The awkwardness was present as Adam knew he was third wheeling with the star couple of Angel Grove high.
“Oh cheer up Adam, things could be worse,” Kim said.
“Yeah you could be going to the dance with Scorpina,” TOmmy joked as Adam shuddered.
“Hey, as long as I got my friends, everything will be cool.”
The lights were low and the music was bumping as the (Y/n) and Aisha walked into the youth center. They quickly found their friends in the big crowd of students.
“Wow (Y/n), you look amazing! RIght Adam?” Kim said.
Adams mouth was slightly open, practically drooling over their long time crush. Kim nudged him in the side breaking him from his trance, “Yeah you look awesome.”
(Y/n) smiled shyly.
Before (Y/n) could pull the rose out completely, Sarah Diaz approached and tapped Adam on the shoulder. (Y/n) pressed their lips together and turned away from the boy, but not before Adam could see the item they had in their hands.
“Hi Adam,” Sarah said shyly, “I was hoping you’d be here.”
“Sarah, hey. Where’s your date?” Adam said nervously.
“Um, I actually came here alone…”
Aisha stood watching the whole situation go down, she watched as (Y/n)’s eyes began to tear up again and she knew Tommy and Kim saw it too.
“Well I uh,” Adam said, he looked back at (Y/n) and saw their back turned to him, but he could still see the stem of the rose in their hands, “I actually came here with someone, but if you want you can stay with my friends.”
(Y/n)’s eyes looked up in confusion at their friends. The rangers looked at each other before shrugging.
“Oh, well that’s alright. My volleyball friends are here so I can just chill with them. It was nice seeing you Adam, (Y/n)’s really lucky,” Sarah said.
Adam turned back and tapped (Y/n) on the shoulder.
“I’ve been meaning to ask you for three days,” (Y/n) said as they held the rose out to the boy, “Lord Zedd just has terrible timing.”
Adam smiled as he took the rose into his right hand. Aisha sighed before exclaiming, “Don’t just stand there, ask them to dance!”
The two chuckled before Adam reached up and brushed (Y/n)’s hair back and placed the rose behind their ear, “Would you like to dance (Y/n)?”
“I’d love to.”

Power Rangers 2 Wish List
I loved the new Power Rangers and even though it didn’t do great at the box office, I’m hopeful for a sequel! I think the proposed 5 sequels/prequels plan will be pared down a bit in light of the box office take, but that’s just an opportunity for Saban and Lionsgate to focus on delivering a tight, fun, and entertaining follow-up built on the excellent foundation of the first movie. I was impressed that, even with modern teen struggles and a more grounded take, the movie never felt ashamed to be Power Rangers, and that should definitely continue. Here are a few things I’d love to see in the sequel!
More Trini and Zack! I liked what we got from the team in the first movie, but Zack and especially Trini felt underutilized and underdeveloped. Hopefully that’s remedied in the sequel. Billy trying to increase/stay in his morphed state permanently to protect himself was an idea I had a while back (which also briefly appeared in the Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers comic), but maybe it could apply to Trini or Zack instead. Trini had big walls set up because of her parents and Zack’s fun persona is a shield against the impending death of his mother, so either one of them could feel like they need a little extra power to get through their lives for a bit. It’d be interesting to discover how much of Zack’s bravado is real and how much is a mask. How will the inevitable loss of his mother affect him, and how will that affect his performance as a Ranger? Billy lost a parent too, but it seems like Zack is primed to delve into the “I have all these amazing abilities but still couldn’t save this important person” trope, and investigating the Rangers’ inability to save everyone (especially after reviving Billy in the first movie) through the eyes of their most jovial member would be a new angle. They could also explore what his potential could be if he weren’t spending all his time ditching school.
Like I suggested in my review, Trini’s helicopter parents provide the perfect setup to play with her trying to sneak out of the house using her superpowers or to subvert the “keep your identity secret” superhero trope with her sarcasm. Another way to go is to establish she’s got an aptitude for science, so she and Billy can team up on that like on the show. Since Trini is the first LGBTQ superhero in a movie, exploring those romantic relationships in detail would be groundbreaking. Whatever they do with them, Trini and Zack definitely need equal focus in the next movie.
Explore How Being Rangers Affects Their Lives Will the team being forced to open up to each other for their powers to work create awkward situations where they have to talk to continue being an effective team? Will they have any privacy or secrets from each other from here on out? Since they’re teenagers, exploring that aspect of their bond is a great way to inject some comedy and drama to the Rangers as a unit.
How were the kid’s pre-Rangers dreams changed by becoming superheroes? What did they want to be? Do they even have those kinds of options now that they’re heroes? Can they hold down an afterschool job if the city is overrun with monsters? Kimberly’s aspirations were dealt with in her exit from the series, but not all the Rangers got that chance and looking at that kind of thing would be great character development here too.
Billy Adds to the Ranger Arsenal In the original show, Billy invented the team’s wristwatch communicators and tied them into the Morphing Grid, allowing for teleportation to and from the Command Center at will. Something similar would be cool here, especially if the writers don’t want to spend time sending the kids through that complicated cave/underwater sequence every time they need to speak to Zordon. I’d also love to see the other Ranger-specific weapons make an appearance (Zack’s ax, Billy’s lance, Trini’s daggers, and Kimberly’s bow) since Jason got to use his Power Sword in the first movie. Maybe Billy could figure out how to manifest those other weapons for each of the Rangers. I wouldn’t mind his tinkering smoothing out the Ranger uniforms either: I prefer the more simplistic designs from 1995’s MMPR movie (I don’t hate the new ones, I just found them over-designed and too busy).
One aspect of the Rangers mythos that was missing from the movie was a true “It’s Morphin Time!” moment, since the kids’ bond opened the Morphing Grid to do it for them. While the kids are already superpowered out of costume and don’t have morphers, perhaps Billy could build mobile devices that connect directly to the Grid in the event of an emergency without needing to depend on the unity of the team. This could create drama by accidentally disrupting their connection, since they’ll no longer always have to be fully connected, which could then turn around and save them if Tommy Oliver betrays them, totally shattering their bond for a time.
The Teens Do Martial Arts I didn’t mind the Power Coins granting the kids superpowers when not fully morphed (the villains were scaled up enough to necessitate this), but I’d like the team to learn some finesse to go along with their brute force. Each of them could develop their own style of fighting like on the show, which would add variety to fight scenes. Kimberly’s past as a cheerleader, for instance, could include a heavy emphasis on gymnastics. Zack could develop his capoeira-like hip hop kido, or something similar. The first time Zack sees Trini, it looks like she’s practicing Kung Fu or Tai Chi, so perhaps she could teach the team members who don’t know martial arts already. While Jason was a former football star, it’d be a fun switch to make the girls the most athletically proficient.
The Teens Become Socially Conscious Pitching in on the Angel Grove rebuilding efforts would be a good start, but I’d love to see the kids arcing back toward their community-minded do-gooder selves from the show. They don’t have to be perfect boy and girl scouts, but it wouldn’t hurt to show them teaching kids sports or science—and not because of court mandated community service. Outside of Green Arrow and the X-men, the Power Rangers are among the most social justice-minded of all superheroes, and it’d be good to get to that aspect.
Tommy (or Tommi) Oliver The first movie’s post-credit scene lays out the arrival of Tommy Oliver, the Green Ranger, though I wouldn’t have minded one more film with just the original five Rangers to explore their dynamic before it’s changed completely. Still, I’m definitely excited for the prospect of a traitor Ranger, especially with the emphasis on the team’s need for unity and trust to morph. Someone who can get past their defenses and the stab them in the back would be a perfect adversary! Plus, it’d be a case of history repeating itself after Rita went bad, which works well thematically: maybe Zordon argues not to trust Oliver but the Rangers don’t listen and fight to save Tommy’s soul instead of outright killing him. If Tommy and Kimberly have a romantic relationship, his betrayer status and her scandalous selfie-sharing would give them fairly complimentary redemption arcs.
The cast wants a female Tommy (Tommi?) to change things up and give the team an even boy/girl ratio for once. I wouldn’t mind that; making Tommi a girl would subvert expectations that whatever guy stepping into Jason David Frank’s green and white boots would have to bear. Since Tommy’s arguably the most popular and iconic Ranger, that’s a huge bar to clear that could be sidestepped by going in an entirely different direction (JDF doesn’t seem opposed to it either). That’s not to say, of course, that Tommi Oliver couldn’t be every bit as badass, evil, and compelling in her redemption arc as JDF was; just that the monumental expectations might be done away with. Plus, it would be good to have gender balance. Maybe Tommi dates Trini and they play out the Tommy/Kimberly romance with her instead. Tommi and Jason dating would add an entirely different layer to their rivalry from the original show, while Tommi/Billy would probably be heartbreaking. Tommi could also be twisted literally in Rita’s image, though that may be a strike against this idea since we’ve just had an evil female Green Ranger in the first movie. Whatever they do with Tommy/Tommi, I hope they keep the character’s Native American roots; the diversity in the first film was fantastic and that should continue as the series progresses (everyone deserves to see themselves as heroes!).
If Tommy/Tommi does become the eventual leader, that’d provoke a great change in the dynamic of the team. Where does Jason fit if he’s not the leader, especially as rising to that challenge was so key to his arc in the first movie? The show couldn’t answer that question due to contract disputes leading Austin St. John to stop filming for Jason’s final episodes, so I’d like the movies to go there. How do the other Rangers feel about being led by a total newcomer when they’ve all put in the time and were never evil?
More Monsters! We got the Putty Patrol and Goldar in the first movie, but I hope the sequel goes all-out with a horde of monsters unleashed on Angel Grove all at once. It doesn’t look like we’ll get Finster and his Monster-Matic here, but the way Rita’s powers manifested monsters felt similar to Lord Zedd’s penchant for turning everyday objects into beasts. I think Zedd—definitely the show’s coolest enemy—feels more like an endgame villain than appearing in the first sequel (he probably corrupted Rita in the first place), but nothing says he can’t give Rita a new source of magic (and the show has plenty of them) to create monsters and retake the Zeo Crystal (Zedd’s goal in the original series). Elizabeth Banks was a blast in this film, and I wouldn’t mind bringing her back for revenge.
Was the very conspicuous scorpion on the boulder in the Pit a nod to Scorpina (one of Rita’s best flunkies!)? Could it be mutated into Scorpina by some damage to the ship/Morphing Grid over the course of the battle? Could she be Zedd’s new champion in addition to Tommy? Or maybe she mutates by accident and has her own agenda entirely.
Amy Jo Johnson said she’d like to come back as a villain; she was great fun as one in Power Rangers Turbo, so I say bring it on!
A Vast Universe Perhaps this is why there were four sequels and a prequel planned; the Power Rangers universe is huge, even just contained to the MMPR-In Space Zordon era. Space, other dimensions, magic, science fiction, horror elements, and different time periods are all on the table in the Power Rangers world. I’d love for these movies to go big and not feel constrained by the bounds of Earth. I don’t think this needs to happen in the next movie, but it’s something I hope they keep in mind if there are more (though things like the Dark Dimension could be fun, weird challenges to throw at the team next time).
Bulk and Skull Jason’s prank buddy Damo, possibly feeling rejected after Jason found new friends, and the “Bully of Detention” could’ve easily been these Power Rangers mainstays in their nascent stages. Maybe Damo’s full name is Eugene Damo Skullovitch and the Bully of Detention is named Farkas Bulkmeier (he seems more Bulk than Skull). Mirroring the Rangers’ superhero battles with everyday bullying would draw another smart line from their superhero lives to more relatable ones (just as understanding each other and working together grants them the power to be heroes and protects them with literal armor). Contrasting with the epic nature of the Ranger adventures, Bulk and Skull provide comic relief and represent grounded problems they can’t just morph and fight against (even though Jason did slap a bully).
Series Stars in Cameos/Supporting Roles Amy Jo Johnson and Jason David Frank are always welcome back, and it’d be great to have Austin St. John, David Yost, and Walter Jones back onscreen to complete the original (living) Ranger team. Jason Narvy and Paul Schrier absolutely deserve to be included too, since they’re the series’ longest-running characters. Something similar to the Harold Ramis bust in 2016’s Ghostbusters would be a great way to include and honor Thuy Trang as well. Later Rangers like Johnny Yong Bosch, Nakia Burrise, Karan Ashley, Catherine Sutherland, and Steve Cardenas would also be welcome. Rose McIver is very talented and was once a Ranger; having her do something in these films would be fantastic!
Two Things I Don’t Want As a kid, I thought the team getting new zords each season was cool, but as an adult I realize later seasons’ vehicles never lived up to the original Dinozords. They’re the coolest to this day and I hope the movies don’t ditch them anytime soon (if at all). Some refining of their appearance would be fine, but the films would be hard-pressed to outdo the Dinozords.
Along those same lines, I hope we don’t see the rapid cast changeover of later Rangers seasons. I’d be fine never getting a second generation of Power Rangers in the movies, but I wouldn’t want to explore more than one additional set of replacements. I believe the original Rangers are rich enough to spend several movies on without worrying about them feeling overdone.
Whatever they do, I can’t wait to see what they’ve got in store for us and the first movie has bought a lot of good will with me for this franchise. After a long hiatus from the fandom for me, “It’s Morphin’ Time!” all over again!

Cuz I've been trying to find out if an angel bends or breaks/Or shatters like a stone - I want to destroy something beautiful by Josh Woodard
Rito Revulto & Goldar & Skorpina
Short version~ Long one on AO3.
"Grecian baths?"
"It saves on time and makes some of the sentries and Coinless less uptight about their circumstances," Scorpina explained with a half smile after she'd removed her own armor and underclothes and helped show them where to put theirs so they could follow after her into a room that looked carved from marble, not too many humans around so late in the day, the smell of the place reminding Goldar of a childhood before all the bloodshed and losses. Rito was simply won over by being taught to swim properly with skin and lungs and without the fear of sinking and going down to the bottom like he'd had nightmares of since Master Vile served him up to Dark Specter and ruined him.
Scorpina looked so at ease and lovely, Goldar found himself without the words to speak about their circumstances as she floated through the water, helping Rita learn to dog paddle and hold his breath.
She was aware that the both of them were developing feelings for her the days, weeks, and months that followed, but didn't find it pertinent to say anything as they were still finding their footing with each other and their new world and such.
Kimberly gave Goldar and Rito jobs as reconnaissance when Jason came back and she didn't trust him going into battles alone when he was still so angry. He was allowed to go on offense only if the two called in the facts of the fighters coming their way; the monsters constantly coming from the bowels of the earth or stretching out among the stars giving them plenty to do, and plenty to witness.
Goldar felt obliged to take Jason under his wing after especially hard battles, never minding the man's constant stressing of, "I don't need your help!"
"No, but you're hungry for a fight, and these petty tussles aren't doing it for you. You might as well fight a seasoned warrior."
Rito hung back from these private lessons, a fly on the wall more than anything; soaking in the sight of Goldar in simple training shorts and linen shirt, all muscle and honed instincts and more than he'd ever been while working under Rita and Zedd.
He did throw in some pointers for Jason when his form got sloppy, pretending he cared about what the man was doing, but not really; not unless he took up a sword or knife in anger and lost himself in PTSD and violent rage. Restraining him wasn't especially difficult, but he didn't like having to call on the other Rangers to explain what happened--and so often, too.
Scorpina concurred with this. She told them all about Jason's first reintroduction after being removed from the most high security prison on earth, how he'd acted rashly and selfishly and gotten someone she considered a friend killed, "We should have kept him in restraints until the fight was over. He'd already attacked his allies and who he perceived as enemies. Perhaps being a Red Ranger once gave him a reason for this, but we don't have Power Coins anymore. This shouldn't still be happening."
Rito tried to keep his hands to himself, but he'd ended up squeezing Scorpina's shoulder after that as often as he could. He still helped Goldar and stuck around him more often and more steadily than he'd ever done with anyone in his long life--barring his baby sister--but Rito was getting more and more used to this 'empathy' that Bulkmeier explained during one of their lunches they'd gotten into the habit of joining up together with, "It means you really are a person now; not just a monster trying to fulfill an urge."
